11 Best Gaming Keyboard Under $30 (2023 Updated)

it requires Logitech Gaming Software (LGS) to customize, but the download link on their website is broken. had to download from Softpedia. 123 Mb download, 333 Mb when installed. you have to do that if you don’t want to be stuck with a keyboard that constantly does a multi-color-wave.

and the LGS sofwate has to be running in the systray. totally ridiculous. the keys are tall, long stroke, extremely flat/shallow membrane response, making it extremely clacky. if that’s good or bad depends on what you like.

they make me fumble too much. I can’t see how the key response is good for gaming, but again, that’s a matter of preference I guess. the palm rest is good. not removeable or adjustable. keys are supposedly spill resistant to 60 mL.

USB cord is wrapped in woven cloth, a nice touch. the elevation struts are nice and beefy, that’s good given how many others break. however with the struts down, they keyboard is completely flat with your desk.

with them up it is still a low angle. I have to put a block of wood under the front to make the angle more acceptable. now the front sits about 4″ high. this is a pain. the caps lock, num lock, scroll lock and gaming mode LED indicators are large, bright, white squares.

distracting, sort of annoying until you get used to it. probably good for peripheral vision while gaming. fortunately I discovered these undocumented functions to change colors without the need for any software.

starting with colors on, hold color button and press a number. (top row numbers, doesn’t work with keypad) 1, color wave mode, L-R 2/3, color wave mode R-L 4, pulse mode (repeat to cycle through colors) 5, color morph mode 6/7/8/9, off/on (same as just pressing the color button) 0/-/=, solid mode (repeat to cycle through colors) cycle colors: red yellowish white green slightly darker green lt.

blue/cyan blue purple magenta (reddish purple) white that is all hardwired into the keyboard. there are no registry settings. when you turn off the computer then boot up, it loses settings and defaults to color morph mode.

when you restart the computer, it loses settings and remains off even after windows loads. you can use the color button to select a mode but it’s unresponsive at first. takes several attempts before it comes online.

different BIOS may affect keyboard startup behavior differently but that’s what mine does. overall, I like the color functions but would not prefer this keyboard. some others might like it. I give it 4 stars because it is above average.

I wish I could like this keyboard, but it just fails its most basic job. The first G213 I got immediately had difficulties with OPKLNM/ buttons not working on the first hit, and often taking multiple tries to make them work.

I brought it in for exchange (which The Source has always been awesome with!) and got a new one. It worked great for a bit, but now the ERTY keys on this one are doing the same thing! No food or debris is in it, it doesn’t see rough or even daily use, and is only 4 months old! I love the lights in the keyboard – visible, but not distractingly bright.

I like the feel of the keys, though they are way louder than they need to be. All in all, there are enough keyboards on the market, don’t waste your time with this one – the inability to type without going back constantly to correct is maddening!.

For a wired keyboard I like the K740 much better as its sleeker and the buttons feel much better to me. But its sold out & this keyboard has proven to be a very ok stop-gap. I need backlit keys but this thing cycles through a rainbow of colors which to me is distracting.

Im on Linux, and there is a G810-LED program in my package manager for this and other Logitech gaming keyboards so I run ‘g213-led -an 1490e1’ from the command line or little executable batch file to make it a nice solid blue & all is well.

Its a big, full-size keyboard with built-in hand rests, which I also prefer. I’m not a hard-core gamer so can’t comment about its gaming capabilities other than it has game mode and very helpful media keys.

Its a great deal for the price.

This is a review of the Logitech G413 tkl se keyboard. (I Bought mine brand new from Best Buy as a stand-in while I got switches for my main keyboard. ) What I was not expecting was:A. It does NOT have hot-swappable capabilities, so your stuck with ONLY ONE type of switch (brown tactile), and are VERY scratchy and are NOT lubricated at all.

B. It sounds VERY hollow, even with a shallow frame and aluminum faceplate. Most of the construction is plastic. As well as terrible rattling coming from the stabilizers. C. The switch response time hovers in the 50ms range and is VERY NOTICABLE when playing any game that has short input windows (Rhythm games, etc.

)D. The backlight MUST stay on otherwise it is almost impossible to see what keys are which from a glance. Especially since it ONLY comes in black and ONLY has white led. E. the cable is NOT removable and, although doesn’t feel cheap, it will certainly prove painful with switching out keyboards and having to re cable manage every time.

F. (extension of B) The keycaps feel VERY cheap for “pbt” and remind my of my OEM Dell membrane keyboard from 2009 in quality. G. I paid $80 US for this. I feel utterly disappointed and feel as if 90% of the cost is just from it having the Logitech name.

If you want something better for the same price, get a Corsair, Roccat, Steelseries, or even some Chinese ones. H. There are many more that I simply do not have the time to write down at the moment. Those were some of the CONS of the keyboard.

Now for some PROS. 1. It doesn’t need ANY software to use. Which is nice from Logitech2. It’s simplistic in design and can work with most aesthetics. 3. The led although white only, are bright and haven’t gone out yet.

4. The lettering don’t have any cutouts or odd design choices that would make you believe they were made poorly. 5. It’s a keyboard, It works. In my conclusion, I simply cannot recommend this keyboard as the flaws it has are too extensive.

Though if you are in need for a keyboard and this is your only option, It will definitely last you a while.

This is a beautiful keyboard! The red LED lighting only comes through the letter area of the key caps. Other brands of LED keyboards light up the area around the keys and not the letter on the key cap.

The LED lighting has 4 levels of brightness and off. This is adjustable by pressing the FN key plus the F7 key. The lighting setting is remembered when the PC is powered off and on. No software needed.

The keyboard cable is just very slightly thicker than a regular keyboard cable. It is wrapped in a smooth braid and is easy to flex and is long. I also like the USB port on the rear edge of the keyboard.

This is the perfect place to plug in a wireless USB plug for the mouse. I was having connection problems with my mouse, jerky movements sometimes, with the wireless USB mouse plug plugged into the back side of my system under the desk.

Putting the mouse plug into the keyboard has made the mouse work a lot smoother. My old membrane keyboard was needing to be replaced, and I really did not want the noise of a clicky mechanical keyboard as I am a late night computer user.

The family goes to sleep early and I do not want a clicky keyboard disturbing anyone. The Romer G Tactile switches on this keyboard are perfect. They have a nice tactile feel, and make a nice little muted thump or cluck then pressed.

It is hard to describe the sound, but it is quiet and not disturbing. The key switches are mounted above the flat aluminum base. Very easy to blow any cookie crumbles out of the keyboard. The aluminum base is heavy and has soft rubber feet.

The keyboard stays were you put it. It does not slide around. The brushed black aluminum base, with the very black key caps, and the red LED lettering gives this keyboard a very classy look. I like everything about this keyboard.

I am going to buy 2 more and give them as Christmas presents.

I got this keyboard mostly because it was on sale and I was curious about how Logitech’s switches compare to Cherry’s. They feel very similar. Perhaps a tiny bit softer, but this keyboar’d definitely far quieter than my other one (Das Keyboard with Brown switches).

One thing that makes this keyboard great is the way it’s designed, with the keys sitting above the top surface of the keyboard, which makes cleaning it a breeze. Another thing I like a lot about this keyboard is that for keys that have dual functions, such as the numbers and punctuation, the main function is shown on the bottom half of the key, as opposed to having them reversed (e.

g. the number 1 on the top and the exclamation mark under it). Having the labels reversed (e. g. number 1 on top and exclamation sign on the bottom) somehow wreaks havoc typing on my DasKeyboard whenever I look at the keyboard due to the momentary confusion that their non-standard labelling creates for me (look up “centipede dilemma” to get a better idea of what I’m trying to say).

Logitech’s keyboard’s case is also slightly smaller than my DasKeyboard, so that’s another plus Logitech. Drawbacks of Logitech’s G413: – No LED for NumLock. Not the end of the world, but I’ve been annoyed by it sometimes when I inadvertently unlocked the numeric pad and instead of typing numbers my cursor was just going all over the place on a form I was completing.

– No information on what the Fn-F8 key combination did. I had to google about half an hour before finding out that its purpose is to disable the Windows key (between Ctrl and Alt on the left side) for gaming.

Logitech decided that it’s more important to have a led to indicate this than Num Lock. – Thick and hard to manage cable. DasKeyboard’s is the same. I can’t imagine why a keyboard needs such a thick cable.

I guess designers believe that the target audience of mechanical keyboards feels warm and fuzzy when exposed cables look like a length of paracord able to hold 500 Lbs.

I debate their TKL version of this, but this is good too. Depends on your keypad preference. I prefer red switches, good for everything and not too loud if it’s mainly for productivity and still great if you game.

I need their PBT keycaps, the ones with the white outline. Also, it can store 3 designed presets in FN+1 FN+2 FN+3 so if you want some RGB control outside of a Windows environment you can totally have that.

I bounce between Linux and Windows and have one for “fancy sitting display” and the other two for solid red and white depending on the time of day. I haven’t tried programming it with a VM in Linux, but imagine that is possible.

There’s also openrgb too, but I haven’t tested it with that.

Absolutely LOVING this keyboard. Feels good, heavier than I expected but that just gives me the perception of good quality, so happy with it for sure. Feels extremely comfortable jumping a generic cyberpower keyboard to this.

the spacing, my typing habits etc. I’ve felt minimal spacing adjustments in how i hit the keystrokes, which I think is a tremendous thing for a new keyboard to accomplish and it just might be sheer luck between my old keyboard design and this.

Clicky but not too much. At least its not bleeding through my logitech headset on discord so im not annoying everyone with my strokes. Got the black with “linear (red)” keys. The color patterns looks sweet, I kept the generic Wave one and looks phenomenal.

Bright too even in daylight so yay!. Even scored a discount during the Holidays, heck yeah.

I’m a fan of linear switches and this one feels really nice. I am actually writing this review with this keyboard. It is not for users who are acquainted with less sensitive keyboards. It is less loud than most tactile mechanical keyboards.

The reason that got me to buy this one was its minimalistic aesthetic. I’m not a fan of macro keys and on board displays as they make the keyboard bulkier. I would actually prefer the TKL version of this board at this moment.

Overall, it is satisfying keyboard. The software to control the lighting takes a little bit of finicking to get used to and at the moment of writing, only has a downloadable version on the windows store.

Love the cherry red’s. They are very responsive. The overall design of the keyboard is sleek and minimal. The keyboard is weighty enough and the legs on the bottom of the keyboard can fold out once or twice depending on how much lift you would like.

The legs also have a nice rubber built in which helps keep the keyboard from moving. The ‘function’ key is used to control the keyboard light schemes, volume, led backlights etc. This is nice because it helps keep the keyboard key layout clean and removes the need for extra keys that only have single functionality.

It has some minor failures on the certain parts of the keyboard. Where the light is a bit more dimmed than the other ones. However, in my opinion is not a big deal since it doesn’t look that bad. Besides the rest of work pretty good; I have not have any problems with the keyboard everything works perfectly great.

I do recommend this keyboard. It’s a good price and works great.

This keyboard really has a great feel to it. I have large hands but these keys no problem. Great size and easy to see keys! Pretty solid and durable. Ill take another one if ever in market again.

The item is described as “large print”. It is not. It is lighted, but the light is more around the keys than within the keys. It is drop shipped from Amazon, where for a 25% lower price, it includes a mouse.

I have a LARGE print backlit keyboard that works very well, without distracting light AROUND the keys.

I’ve owned this keyboard for several months now and it’s delightful to type on. I own a ton of mechanical keyboards and this is by far the cheapest one I own. I enjoy typing on it more than several keyboards that cost 3-4 times as much though! The Outemu blue switches feel comparable to other clicky switches I’ve used from Kailh, Cherry, and Razer.

The sound is satisfying and the actuation force is good. The key feel is more consistent than the early Razer Green switches on my old Blackwidow Chroma, but maybe not quite as much as real Cherry blues.

The keycaps are doubleshot, though ABS I believe. Still, they feel great and are a step above the laser etched ABS caps on more expensive boards. Really though, the reason I bought this keyboard was to port the open source QMK firmware to it.

Unfortunately, the big downside of Redragon keyboards is their lack of RGB customization. You get to pick from a set of around 15 built-in effects or you can set the keys to custom static colors, but you cannot do fancy effects from the PC and there is no software SDK to integrate the lights into games or sync them with other devices.

I really wanted to get this keyboard working with my open source RGB control software OpenRGB, and I found that some people were in the process of porting QMK to the board. I jumped in to help and after several months of work, we have a pretty much fully functional QMK port that supports direct light control from software using OpenRGB.

I’ve included a link to a YouTube video showing the Overwatch RGB effects working on this keyboard using QMK firmware, OpenRGB, and Project Aurora.

This is a phenomenal keyboard if you want a cherry red mechanical keyboard! Do note that this is a 10-keyless board and so it will be excellent for taking up less space on your desk! The keys have very little play if any and the RGB is miraculous! Some models only have red backlighting but this one has full RGB spectrum.

The RGB effects are built into the board so no need to install software and are easily changeable by pressing a function button on the keyboard. Another big selling point that convinced me to buy this board is that it has a real metal backplate in between the keys.

When you pick up this board you can tell just by the weight that there is real quality in this board! Easily customizable with your own keyset! All around a great keyboard!.

Remember. you get what you pay for. That being said, this is a nice patio set for the price. It is a bit on the smaller side and the chair/love seat height is somewhat low to the ground. It was easy to put together.

I did it myself with no problems. It did take a couple of hours to assemble all four pieces even with a ratcheting wrench (which I highly recommend!). The cushions are definitely cream in color, not beige – but you can tell that from the photos – and are comfortable.

The listing states the furniture color as gray. It’s more of a brownish black. In fact, the boxes list the product as “black. ” It’s not black though. It’s actually a very nice color. All in all, a nice set for the money.

Obviously, time will tell how it holds up to use and weather. ** Please note that this is being sold by a third party vendor of Walmart, not actually Walmart itself. I had a small problem and called Walmart and they said I would have to deal with the vendor directly.

The vendor was impossible to get through to on the phone. I asked Walmart for assistance in contacting them and although they said they reached out to the vendor I never heard back from them. I probably would not purchase from one of Walmart’s third party vendors again.

Just received it yesterday and tried it out this morning. I can’t tell any difference between this and a guitar cable. It worked flawlessly until I walked all the way downstairs and continued playing, at that point I *thought* I heard it glitch a couple of times for just a split second, but at that point, I was a good distance away and the signal was going through walls.

Not exactly a gig experience, in most cases anyway. So it may not be quite as good as some of the better wireless systems (I have a Shure also), but for ease of use and a great price, I honestly believe you will really love this little unit.

One of my best gear purchased in a long, long time.

I ordered this outdoor furniture so by the time our backyard was done we could use it right away. A week went by and our yard was done so we opened the boxes and started to put all the items together.

First off the pieces are not numbered so you only have the diagram to use which is somewhat hard since most things look alike. Once we figured out what pieces fit where, we discovered that we were missing cushions for the chair and most importantly the backs for all three.

Very frustrating and disappointing. I have contacted the seller and pray they can fix this issue asap.

After getting the keyboard and letting it sit for a month, I finally decided to use it. While at work, doing my developer stuff, the keyboard disconnects and does not respond to my key presses. I will get delayed response which returns unnecessary multiple characters.

There is also a time that when I hit one key and it will just return lots of characters. This is really frustrating as I paid more than $100 and all I get is a crappy keyboard! I tried wired connection too and I am still getting that issue.

I had the Mecha-like wired keyboard which I got for $39 that performs better that this one. I do like the lighting options though and its size which makes it really portable. I am not sure though if there is an issue with the keyboard that PB Tech has sent me.

Awesome compact keyboard. First time using red switches and prefer them way more than my old browns. Used it every day since it arrived. Only issue is the LEDs put out a high frequency sometimes, probably only noticeable due to my sensitivity to sounds.

I’ve found that when you have the board plugged into the charger and have the lights on it makes the sound. However, if you’re just connected via bluetooth then the lights can be on without making the sound.

When I charge the board while using it I just turn the lights off and there’s no issue with annoying frequencies or anything. Could also just chuck your headset on and it wouldn’t be an issue.

First impressions, the keyboard feels quite nice to type on. Coming from a full-size Razer Blackwidow X Chroma with green clicky switches this is a much quieter keyboard with the red linear switches but still feels great with a nice change in sound.

RGB lighting looks amazing at night with the white really bringing out all the colours. I will miss a couple of things from the old keyboard, including the software and the durability, as it had a metal frame, whereas this one is plastic.

Also, the amount of customisation available with the razer synapse software is considerably larger than what’s available for this keyboard through the MasterPlus+ software, this includes some of the colour profiles made by other users.

There doesn’t seem to be a specific community sharing colour profiles for cooler master keyboards though the MasterPlus+ software does allow you to import and export profiles. Overall, from my first impressions, I think this keyboard is great for the money.

Just a little niche and lacking some customisation.
