15 Best Gaming Headset No Mic (2023 Updated)

Excellent sound quality and design. I’m giving it 1 star because the cord is ridiculously short. I’m appalled at all you guys who left 5 star reviews. This cord is like 3 feet long. My computer is not that far away, and the cord hangs in front of my face the entire time.

Turtle Beach, can you guys send me an extension cord, then I’ll bump up my review to 5 stars, because everything else about this headset is perfect. What were you thinking my dudes. I say this with respect, but this cord is extremely short.

I’m so shocked. I’ve never seen this before with any headset. This is insanity.

As a gamer for about 40 years I’ve had my fair share of headsets for various gaming systems. And as a new Switch owner I wanted something simple, easy to use, high quality and that has multiple ways to use it.

Sort of like the actual Nintendo Switch itself now that I think about it. Enter the new Turtle Beach RECON 70 wired stereo headset. At a very affordable price I was sort of skeptical but since I had already had several Turtle Beach headsets in the past so I knew that Turtle Beach had quite a few pretty quality headdsets for folks on a budget.

When the RECON 70’s arrived I immediately opened them up and tried them on. They are very comfortable, a nice snug fit but not too smug and light enough that you won’t have issue with wearing them for long gaming sessions.

The 3. 5″ simple jack makes them compatible with any PC, Xbox One or PS4 in addition to the Nintendo Switch, which is great. In fact, the first time using these I grabbed them to use on the Xbox One as I was in a Division 2 session with party chat and didn’t want to go get my official Xbox One headphones.

These worked great, just plugged them into the controller and they came on. The volume defaults to max and it was pretty loud, so loud in fact that I turned it to about 80%. The audio is clear, the bass is there but not booming and overall it’s a good, but not out-of-this-world sound.

I asked three different teammates after our 2 hour gaming session how they could hear me and they all said crystal clear. The headset mutes when you push up the radio mic so that is nice so that you can mute yourself when the dogs are barking or such.

One thing to note, you cannot hear yourself through your mic when you talk so that may bother some folks (or other folks may find that a plus as I’ve heard some do not like that). That is one thing that I did not really care for as I prefer to hear when I speak through the headset like my Astro A50’s do.

And yes I did check the option in the Xbox One to ensure it was setup right but this headset must not support that feature. Using these on the Nintendo Switch yielded the same results in regards to listening but I did not use them to communicate in any games because I don’t really play the Switch online using voice chat.

These are also portable and do not require anything but the headset (no dongles or extras) so that’ll make taking them on the road with your Switch a nice option. All in all I’d recommend these as they are quality and the fact that they can be used on multiple systems is a huge plus.

They aren’t going to blow you away with how fantastic they sound but they sound good enough that you won’t notice any issues or feel like your sound is subpar. The mic is crystal clear and the fact that they are wired means no charging which is nice considering that the vast majority of everything needs constant charging nowadays.

For the price that these retail at, and considering you can likely find them cheaper online, they yield an incredible value for not just Nintendo Switch owners but anyone just looking for a quality, economical headset for their PC, Xbox One, PS4 or Nintendo Switch.

Very cool, great headset for the money. Replacing my STILL working X31’s and finally entering the 21st century! LOL! A little tight on the ears, but comfortable even with my glasses on. Color is great, and the material is solid yet flexible.

Use them with Windows Sonic on XBOX One and they work great. Immersive sound and distinguishable direction of other players and gunfire. Very good buy, for the money unbeatable and would recommend for anyone.

A well engineered piece of equipment, moving parts run smoothly without any indication of; rubbing, grinding or any significant noise. Practically illustrates energy conversion from; Heat to Kinetic Energy to Electrical energy to Light.

The only negative is that the description states a kit, and I was looking forward to assembling it, however it is shipped already assembled, taking the enjoyment of building it away. To me, when described a kit, it means it has to be assembled, so the description is misleading.

That said, I am glad that I purchased it and it has added to my collection of functional mechanical machines.

The size of the headset is really big, which is great because you don’t have to worry about the cushioning to squish your ears (big plus for me). You have the option to have the lights on (plus in the USB), a cool little feature to have especially if in the case you want people to know how you are listening to something.

The sound quality is not the best (clear, bass sound), but it’s still really good regardless and it would take me a bit of time to get used to it. The headset is comfortable to wear, and I’ve been using it for hours on end since I’ve received them and they have not hurt my head.

BUT I have read reviews that indicate that some people with a larger and rounder head could experience a bit of tension on the sides. It’s overall a really good headset and at the price it is being sold at with this seller, I highly recommend it!.

Everything is great except for the USB cable for the LED lights is to short. Not able to plug in while playing. The USB cable needs to be longer. If I plug them in you have to be right on the TV or if you use phone charger you have to be right by plug.

The LED lighting on headphones is one reason why this was purchased.

TheGame zero is a very comfortable headset evern after hours of continuous use. the sound for me is brilliant evern more so with FPS games things like what direction other players are running is clear with this headset unlike other headset where in some situations it’s not clear where the footsteps are coming you end up not knowin where the enemy is coming from not with this headset.

The sound is also very crisp I love how crisp the sound of gun fire whistling past you expulsions come alive with this headset. One thing that might put some people of about this headset is a bit bass flat this is not a problem for me because I dont like to much bass so perfect headset for me.

I’ve add the TURTLE beach x12, px22, px24 all of which have you can adjust how much bass you want I use to have the bass roughly around half way so if you have had any of these TURTLE beach headsets and use to have the bass turned upto the max then this headset is probly not gonna be for you buy still a great sounding headset.

The build quality of this headset is really sturdy since its made of plastic very light weight evern after hours of continuous use you don’t get no discomfort unlike other headsets I’ve owned. I’m coherently usein this headset with a TURTLE BEACH audio adapter plus which as super humanearing this brilliant adapter makes this headset evern better and I’m also looking to get a astro a40 mix amp pro which as 7.

1 surround sound so should make this headset sound truly amazing. In the box was wire’s to connect to a computer and I wire that connects to a 3. 5 connection so if anyone tells you this headset does not work with Xbox one are wrong becoues that’s what I’m using this headset on straight out the box didn’t need to buy any extra wire’s and I’m using a Xbox one s controller.

I’ve now been using this headset for just under a month I wanted to use this headset for a few weeks before leaving a review so I could test how well the headset is made headset comfort and sound quality.

These are the most comfortable over-the-ear headphones I’ve ever used. I wear glasses when I play and these softly fit around the glasses and very gently fit (other headphones are so tight) around my ears.

The sound quality is also great. They are only stereo, but I noticed I can recognize directions based on the sounds–maybe not as accurately as a pair of 7. 1 headphones, but I know where the enemies are.

They have a way of cancelling out sounds outside the headphones, so you are immersed in the game. There is a nice volume control for the headphones on the right side. Also, when I play solo, the boom microphone swings up to a click in mute position so it’s out of the way and no one is hearing the screaming and cursing.

My only complaint is that others are having a really hard time hearing me with the microphone. And yes, I’ve made sure the audio settings are at their highest. And still, I’m not being heard very well.

I have another pair of cheap-o gaming headphones which have a great microphone, but with those, my ears start aching after about 15 minutes.

BIGGEST PRO: It’s exactly like the one I bought to replace. I’d had my original, bought from Sennheiser when they released it, so it was old, and the plastic, as plastic does, finally snapped from wear and tear.

Cons: If I turn it all the way to max volume I’ll hear a bit of static as I increase the dial, but nothing afterwards with no issue to sound quality. This is probably from it being used, and possibly pushed in too hard when moving the volume slider on the headset.

HOWEVER I don’t turn it to max often since I value not being deaf. Other even smaller issues since I have everything for my old pair: The short cable used for laptops and console gaming was NOT included (again used product things like this are acceptable), The main cable was also not in the best condition, and looks to have had it’s sheathing frayed from being bent to hard.

Buyer Beware: does not work with all PCs! Only works with current W10 installs. This is because Intel no longer makes usable Bluetooth drivers for other Windows editions anymore. It works on Linux since open source drivers exist for Bluetooth applications, I tested it on Mint stable.

I don’t recommend this product if you’re using older editions of Windows, which unfortunately I was. Also unfortunate: tech support for this product is nonexistent and assumes you’re trying to pair it to a phone.

While I’m certain some people want to do this, I don’t, and the provided drivers aren’t even for this product. This is all very suspicious and speaks to a low quality item. Which it is given the price.

Though, worryingly it won’t even connect over 3. 5mm audio when I connected it to my older Windows PCs either, again speaking to the low quality on display. I didn’t test it with consoles so I can’t speak to that.

Overall I’ve had better experiences with my Logitech or other brand-name ones and I strongly suggest those as they come with the drivers already installed on the dongle. Though again, it does work on Linux.

This headset is the most comfortable one i have purchased in a very long time, could even be the best actually. It covers your ears nicely and the soft material is very nice and offers hours of pain free use.

The sound is excellent quality too and the base is very deep and great for gaming as well as listening to music. They look really smart and are very comfortable to wear and i have not had any breaks in the transmission of sound thru the wireless 2.

4 g setting. Very easy to use and set up with my pc and the battery life once fully charged is very long. You need to be careful when removing the set of your head because of two wires from the headband to the earpieces are their.

This is just by design and to be honest it is no problem for me ( 50 yr old gamer ) but could be an issue for a younger person. I would say these are great for adult user and if you try them you will not be disappointed.

Great value for money and a quality piece of kit.

I’m not gonna lye, for the money I expected pure garbage. Nothing could be farther from the truth. I still dont know what the manual looks like. They were easy to figure out. The noise canceling removed all unwanted noise but was barley useful as most all the noise was already removed just by the natural design of the headphones.

The sound quality was good but not excellent. With that said , they are the best sounding Bluetooth headphones for that little money I’ve EVER heard. Wow! When you hold these headphones they dont feel like they want to break just because you took them out of the box.

For the features and cost I have to give it to MPOW hands down, These headphones are not a toy. And for the cost it dont hurt to find out for yourself.

This headset is very good. the sound is great and the lights make it pretty. Works well with a computer (with lights) Nintendo Switch and the PlayStation 4 (without lights). It has a Velcro band that can be adjusted to make the fit perfect.

It is very comfortable, though it can get a little warm, but no more than other headsets or headphones. As for the lights, the ear cups have a rainbow effect, and the mic is blue. I like that they aren’t heavy or uncomfortable if being used for extended periods.

They feel very well made and seem like they will last a long time.

Can barely hear from them and my co-workers heard background noises like they were right in the same room. Doesnt work as described. I do like that its got both USB and microphone portal

The headset is fine, but worth $200? Idk. The build quality is pretty solid despite it feeling like a cheap material. It’s relatively comfortable and light, a little tight at first but that gets better with continued use.

My biggest issue is with connectivity. I’ve used it with the Series X and it connects well and the app allowing you to customize its settings is cool but, and maybe this is a problem with Xbox wireless technology in general, it tends to have poor connection with sounds pulsing.

Like cutting in and out basically, idk really weird. Also you can’t turn the headset on without turning your Xbox on, which for me isn’t an issue but some might find it to be. Also the Bluetooth was one of the major reasons I bought this headset so I could use ot for both my Xbox and PC but apparently BT isn’t as far along as I thought.

The headset sounds great through Bluetooth, a little delayed but that’s normal with BT but as soon as you try using the mic through BT the sound quality drops abysmally. Like unusually quality when it need the mic on Bluetooth.

I ended up purchasing the Microsoft wireless adapter it was so unusable through Bluetooth. In conclusion, decent headset in some areas, but really falls short in others.

Sound is very crisp but doesn’t get too loud. I had an arctis 9 before this and it broke so I had to replace it. I thought that the Steelseries headset was bad because it would it would periodically turn off without notice and drove me nuts but I will say I miss it now.

There were a number of good reviews for this headset which I find very puzzling but I think it’s because the reviewers didn’t use it as much with bluetooth on at the same time. The sound is often distorted and requires frequent resets, and this includes times when I am not using bluetooth.

And I mean multiple resets every gaming session. If I turn the balance heavily to bluetooth, it will reliably disconnect from the xbox with no notification. I am unable to turn it on to use for bluetooth without turning on the xbox, which is fine and how the Arctis was.

Conversely, if I turn off the xbox the headset will automatically turn off even if I am connected to my phone which is just mind-boggling. When it works, it is fine. My speech seems to be clear and the microphone doesn’t have to be too close to my mouth.

Reading about it is very impressive, but it is so horrendously unreliable. I wouldn’t buy from them again.

Very nice headset at a sale price, but not as good as I had hoped. Volume is good, with minimal distortion, however I found connection issues when using the app for controlling the equalizer and other customizations.

Headset could be more comfortable if the head band had thicker padding and covered a little more area on top of the head. Ear cups did a good job covering my ears but I found them to be a little loose.

I have an average size head and felt the cups could use a little more clamping force. Overall sound was good and could be modified in the app directly from the Xbox. Positional accuracy was very good when using Dolby Atmos.

Battery life is acceptable and as advertised. I like the lighting on the ear cups, however it does take a toll on battery life. I found it cut the battery life by approximately 25%. Build quality is good and I have had no problem connecting to my iPhone.

Firmware updates require access to a PC. Updates are not possible on a MAC.

The hardware and wire quality are strong and sturdy. The Microphone & Cable adapter is a great accessary. The flexibility of the Microphone increased the value of the product in my opinion. I was extremely impressed by the clarity of sound and comfortability.

The compatibility with various platforms is very useful. I highly recommend this product based on its great features, value and cost.

When you are wearing a pair of headphones, you are always listening to whatever comes out of them next. From my experience with these so far, I personally like them. I don’t have much experience with headphones and I haven’t really owned these ones that long so I might not be the best person to listen to.

If I had to change one thing about the design, I’d increase the microphones length a little bit. But that’s just a personal preference.

These just arrived today and I’m pretty happy with them. Aside from the slight adjustment period I usually have when wearing headphones, they work well, look nice and have good sound. That’s really all you could ask for.

The outer metal frame is nice and sturdy, while the adjustable inner band moves well with your head. Overall they’re really good headphones and I hope they last a long time.

Pros: Great sound, very clean sound from highs to low, with some of the clearest mids I have heard in a gaming headset. Vocals in music really come through, and overall the tuning seems well thought out for both music and gaming.

Clean Bass, though some might want more power, Great build quality and super light weight design keeps you from even noticing your are wearing them. Mic quality is top notch, though some people complain about the volume not being constant, will update if I figure that out.

Stereo sound positioning is the best I have heard, I play a ton of Destiny 2 and man this headset is a must for that game. You get to hear just how amazing Bungie’s sound design is. Cons: Cable creates a lot of noice unless you add a clip to keep it from moving.

PC Cable is a bit short, required me to get a extension to for the mobile cable to the front 4pole on my case. Price? I feel like its not overpriced, but if it was 100 instead of a bit over that it would be even better.

Other: You need a good amount of power to run these things. I am running them off the onboard DAC and Headphone amp in my Crosshair VIII and they are great, but without that amp they might not be loud enough.

Tested them on 3. 5 output on my work laptop (some low end Realtek codec) and sound was not so great, so the quality of the source matters. I am not a BASS head, so some people may feel like these lack BASS punch.

I think they are perfect for FPS gaming and music, but might not be amazing for movies. Grab some Anker Soundcloud 20’s for that.

I’ve been using this headset for the past few days for streaming and in-game voice chat on PS5 and PC. This headset is great for those of us who want a simple, relatively high-quality wired headset without spending too much money.

The earphones themselves sound pretty good. They sound better than comparable competitors in this price range. You won’t be missing many details from your gaming experience, but I would not call them reference quality.

I picked this headset for the positive reviews on the microphone and I am not disappointed. My voice came through loud and clear with plenty of detail. My teammates and followers have both commented on the increase in vocal quality and they never struggle to understand.

I’ll start with the good bits. The headphones are extremely well-made for the price – the build quality even rivals my Razer Kraken Pros. They’re sturdy and comfortable. Now for the downsides. The microphone is terrible in quality and doesn’t noise-dampen as advertised.

It is so disappointing. These are SO comfortable. The ANC is awesome, especially for meditation music. These are not so good for music, though. They have too much treble, so the music seems lifeless and thin.

Engaging ANC helps a bit, but even then, that distorts the added bass. That is not the worst part, however. These have the weakest batteries I have even seen in headphones. 35 hours of playtime? HA! 3 times I have worn these for about 4 hours, then they poop out, even with ANC off.

Then you occasionally get a weird tone out of nowhere sometimes. I love MPOW. The 059 is the best. I have used them for a long time now, and the sound.

These are pretty solid headphones great quality and clear sound. The build is very nice much like the ATH-M40X with nice gold and black coloring. The mic is super nice and clear. they did really well on selecting a good mic The sound quality is above average.

They do sound like the M40X with a bit more bass cause of the gaming profile. Footsteps are distinguishable. works better if you use Windows Sonic for headphones. Cons The cable and Mic are detachable if that ever breaks you have to buy a new mic/wire alltogether.

This is a great product and very versatile for any possible situation that you can use headphone for meetings or just listening to music. Really light and comfortable.

Got it on sale with my purchase of a legion laptop for about $80. Still quite expensive. The “Surround sound” sounds terrible outside of music and “okay-ish” in games. I’m not an audio expert or the term people use to classify someone who knows a lot about audio but these headphones, mainly it’s surround sound feature, just sounds.

echoey. I’ve never heard surround sound before, i think, but I can tell you it’s certainly not supposed to sound echoey. With it disabled, it’s semi noise cancelling and seems somewhat clear but when you click/enable the 7.

1 surround sound, audio seems to get amplified turn echoey. That’s the best word i can describe it. It’s like you’re in a bathroom listening to loud audio. My headset also had a bit more noise-canceling on one ear, so that’s really annoying sometimes.

For the original price of $135 CAD(Forgot. It was over $120 though), definitely not worth it. Even at $80, I’m somewhat hesitant. This seems to be more so a $70 headset. Build quality is good. Adjustability is good.

The headset cable/wire gets annoying because of the sound feedback you get when rubbed against things. Sometimes the metal wiring on the sides (the adjusting wires) creak and that’s annoying too. Comfort is good.

Non surround sound is good. Surround sound is. eh. Haven’t tried the mic yet.

Upon purchasing the headset I thought it would be reliable and practical for gaming. However this is far from the truth, I use it on a daily bases, and to my surprise, on numerous occasions, the headset didn’t work (roughly 3 months after buying the headset).

Another problem with the headset is the awful mic, I had multiple occasions where people would say that the mic sounded like a “McDonalds speaker”. And that it blew people’s eardrums out whenever I spoke, I tried other mics and it sounded fine.

I would only recommend this mic if you want a mic to only last you a few months, but I would rather spend $60 on a reliable Turtle Beach headset.

I bought these headphones a month ago and i am impressed by the performance so far. The sound reproducibility and bass is great for the price. The headphones could benefit from adjustable fit as they sit a loose on my head.

They are comfortable to wear for decent amount of time and are lightweight. The integrated volume knob comes very handy, although i would still prefer some button based control as often the knob is turned accidentally by rubbing along clothes etc.

and i keep wondering why i couldn’t hear anything.

My son bought this with his birthday money (september 2021). It stopped working last month, he couldn’t hear anything out of it. Unfortunately he ripped the box and threw it along with the receipt. If you need a temp headset until you can afford another better one it’s okay.

But don’t expect it to last more than a month or two.

I was in need of a new headset for my Xbox and bought this one. It was fantastic however it suddenly stopped working after just a few months. The wire or the headphones weren’t damaged in any way but it just stopped working.

No game audio, no game chat etc etc.

Went into smyths with my son to get him a new headset. firstly the price mark in the shelf was different than online I did question this and they said they had not updated prices and there was lots not priced correctly (I did wonder if I hadn’t pointed this out would I have been charged more?).

bought home son in the evening eventually opened it to play all worked good (however is alot quieter than a non branded headset but that was fine). 2 hours of use and the microphone just stopped working.

Checked all settings everything OK, re set everything and nothing.
