Game bags for elk are designed to protect the meat of the animal from insects and other animals while it is being transported. They are typically made from sturdy, breathable fabric and have a drawstring closure.
The Alaska Game Bags Big Game Set is the answer for the challenges hunters have for getting their meet from the field to the freezer. Utilizing the Cotton/Polyester stretch material, makes these bags super flexible enabling the most coverage and they are very simple to clean and store.
Keep that meat clean and fresh with Alaska Game Bags. Perfect for ANY Big Game Trophy!.
I recently purchased the Cabella’s anti-microbial game bags, and the Alaska Game bags. I just came back with a moose distributed between the two bags. Here is my honest review: The one thing I found comforting about the Cabelas bags was that they were stretchy.
The Alaska game bags didn’t say the same. The reality is that both are just as stretchy. Both are about the same size. However, the Alaska bags are made of significantly heavier material. One of the Cabelas bags was not properly stitched.
One of the Cabelas bags began to fray at the top by time I got the moose home. I doubt if the Anti-Microbial properties of the Cabelas bag would survive a washing. In conclusion, unless you very strongly value the anti-microbial properties of the Cabelas bags, you are better off with the Alaska Game Bags.
This is the second time I bought this product. We use for moose quarters. They are a reasonably cheap way to keep the meat clean. For us it would be nice to be a little bigger for front quarter. However, that would depend on how you quarter your animal.
These bags are ok, but are missing a lot compared to other brands that cost the same. No drawstring or paracord included to help hang meat. Only comes with 4 bags, but not a 5th bag for backstraps and such.
Quality seems fine, just missing a lot compared to other brands game bags.

Saves me some weight in the pack compared to my other set of game bags by a popular brand. Haven’t put these to the test yet but expect them to perform perfectly, the construction seems solid. For the price and my personal packing style I’d like to see them come in a roll top dry bag instead of the sack.
Keep your big game meat clean and safe from dirt, debris, adverse weather, insects, and predators after the hunt with the Allen Company Colorado Deluxe Elk Quarter Game Bags. Designed with a lightweight and breathable construction, these bags allow your meat to cool quickly while protecting your meat when transporting your kill from the field to the butcher.
The bags are made of an ultimate stretch material, tailored specifically to hold elk and other big game. Allen Company Colorado Deluxe Elk Quarter Game Bags pack includes 4 bags, each bag measures 12-inches wide x 35-inches long.
I bought these for my nephew. The bag says they’re recommended for elk, but there aren’t any where we live. There are plenty of deer, though. He had never seen anything like these bags, but said for someone who dresses their kill in the field, they were great.
He liked being able to hang the quarters rather than find a log or rock to put them on. And yes, the mesh is tight enough to keep insects off, yet loose enough to let the meat breathe. To clean, he hosed them off well outdoors, then soaked them in a bucket of water with a good dish detergent, and hosed them off again.
He’s only used them once, but said they look fine for reuse after cleaning them like that. He also plans to use them for rabbit, duck, and squirrel. Good product, says the expert hunter in my family.
Hey ladies, if your guy is into big game hunting; these Colorado Quarter Game Bags make an unexpected and much-appreciated gift. I got 4 of the 12 x 35 inch bags. The quality looks great and they have 4-way stretch too.
Although I don’t go hunting, I do like to cook what he brings home. This gift will show him that you support his endeavors while ensuring that the game he brings home will remain dirt and insect-free while transporting or hanging the game.
The bags are also very strong, durable and can even be reused after a thorough washing. Good hunting out there ladies.
These Deluxe Elk Quarter Game Bags are just as described. Lightweight material is easy to utilize. Stretches to allow your items to fit comfortably. Easy to carry. Deluxe strength is very reliable & will no doubt hold up to any use.
Breathable construction will allow all items inside to air well while in use. Highly recommend these bags for many useful ways!.
Koola Buck’s Signature Series Game Bags are proven in certified laboratories to reduce the growth of surface bacteria by 8X the amount of standard game bags. The bags are made from a tightly knitted blend of cotton/poly material designed for strength and durability in the field.
They are treated with a proprietary blend of all natural falvorless products that include lactic and citric acids derived from fruits. Lactic and citric acids are diluted to levels that pose no potential health risk and product has been approved for food grade applications.
When meat is placed inside the bag the inhibitors contact and transfer to meat reducing the growth of surface bacteria, allowing you to age your meat much longer with less waste and surface spoilage.
The bags repel egg laying insects, hold moisture, keep dust off, and provide added protection during warm weather.
Ok so I got these because they where vacuum sealed and compact. Figured the vitamin c on the bags would help with it being a hot hunt. The bags great. Didn’t tear much and let the meat drain/dry well.
The vacuum seal was good till I opened it. Really held the meat well. Issue. The vitamin C. My hands HURT, these bags are soaked. As in I was cussing at every single second of me hunting. Probably will get them again for hot elk hunts.
Just ware gloves when putting your meat in these. I learned my lesson.
We bought several sets of these for an elk hunt. We got a 600 lb elk on the first day, and got it quartered but the bags we too small. Yes, did buy the elk sized bags (we also each bought a set of regular old fashioned Allen brand and they fit the quarters perfectly).
Anyways, these particular bags were too narrow and not long enough to cover the quarters entirely. We were very disappointed considering we paid almost 3x as much for these antimicrobial bags compared to just regular cotton bags.
I purchased these bags to use on an Arizona antelope hunt, knowing I would potentially be far from a means of cooling meat if I was successful. I was successful and returned home with ZERO meat spoilage! Part of the credit goes towards getting the meat quartered, hung in the bags on the shady side of a tree where the wind could hit them, most of the credit goes to the bags themselves.
It was 75+ degrees in the shade, these bags in their saline solution mixed with the shade and wind kept my meat cool until I could get it on ice. I will buy again!.
Loose fit promotes air circulation while also ensuring no meat is exposed. Six ID tags with locks help you organize your cuts and secure the openings to prevent insects from entering. A 20H x 12Wbag and 2-mil plastic 24H x 10Wcamp-meat bag with a twist tie allow you to safely bring your favorite cut back to camp for a quick meal.
After much research online and observing what the professional hunters use, such as Steven Rinella on Meateater, the choice was clear to me that these game bags from Caribou Gear were the reliable choice and I was not disappointed.
After testing my new Caribou Gear game bags with 50 lbs steel plates for strength and stretch I was amazed. These game bags are second to none. I did a soaked blood test to see if they wash out and they do to a large degree and the fine nature of the weave maintains itself after these tests.
I am confident that these bags will not let me down in my 2021 BC elk hunt.
I purchased both medium/ elk and small/ deer and sheep sized sets of these several years ago. I have lost track of how many times I have used and reused these bags but it is around 20 or more. I am a meat eater and our family lives off all the wild game I harvest so I want the best protection for what will end up on our table.
I recently drew a WY bighorn sheep tag and after filling my tag, butchering and getting all the bighorn meat into the Caribou gear bags it started raining and snowing. Everything was a wet muddy mess but the Caribou gear bags protected my meat with their non cotton wicking action.
Meat arrived home in perfect condition after a long trip out in really bad weather conditions. Despite being really dirty they cleaned up well and will be used yet again. Cost per use of these bags is really really low and nothing protects game meat better.
One of the best game care items I have ever bought at Cabelas!.
Excellent product. Killed a very large bull a mile off the road in northern Maine. Quarters fit excellent in the bags. Kept meat clean and allowed for cooling. Bags cleaned nicely and are ready for the next adventure.

I bought these before my first elk hunt. It was a serious upgrade from the cheap ones at Sportsman’s warehouse. I didn’t know they were there until I needed them and then they were fantastic packing out my elk.
They kept the meat clean and cool all the way back to camp on a very long pack out.
Haven’t had the chance to fill these with meat yet, but I trust ME and Argali to make a quality product. Definitely light weight, and the material is durable. I like the separate bag for identification as well.
Preformed flawlessly! Bags seem to be well built, no issues just yet. They clean up well, I turned them inside out sprayed them off with the garden hose then straight into the washer. They’re light weight and pack back easily into their carrying case.
The Backcountry Meat Bags are specifically designed to hold your game meat. Lightweight and easy to pack, these breathable, wicking, high performance bags are recommended for deer, sheep, antelope, elk, and caribou.
I used these on my last elk harvest. I usually buy the cheapest bags I can find, but they weren’t getting the job done as well as I wanted. Caribou bags were a bit too pricey so I went with these. I am very pleased.
I can’t think of anything I would change. They have a tight weave and dry quickly. One bag is big enough for 3 quarters of a cow elk. Do not hang by the para-chord. That is not what they are for. These ought to last me for years if I can keep my dogs from tearing them up.
Great looking bags to put game meat in. like the draw string to keep the bag closed. Now next week will tell how they do when archery season starts. but then I guess we have to get something first in order to test the bags!.
A perfect fit for the Back Country Hunter. Suited for Elk meat on bone quarters and meat parts or like sized game. This small convenient package includes 5 game bags with light reflective attachments and lock loops strategically placed for easy locate in your pack or the darkest of nights.
I had the opportunity to purchase and use these game bags for a Utah December elk hunt. These game bags are lightweight and held the full weight of whole elk quarters without any problem at all. The seams are all double stitched for durability.
Also, all cuts to the fabric made prior to sewing, are stitched inside the double seams so the fabric will not fray or add the work of picking fabric off your meat before processing. The reflective tabs on the side and bottom are nicely placed to help find the game bags in the dark if needed.
When it came time to clean the bags of blood, a quick soak in cold water with some mild detergent, a rinse and they are back to as white as they were when they came out of the packaging We did discover a minor issue with one of the bags when we took them out of the packaging for the first time, but nothing so critical to affect functionality.
When I returned home late, Caribou Gear was closed for the day. I contacted them through their website and notified them of the issue. Within hours of them opening the next day, I was contacted and notified a replacement game bag was on its way to me.
I am so impressed with both the product and the customer service, that I have already made additional purchases from Caribou Gear. There is no better way to show respect for your customers than to stand behind your product.
I highly recommend this product above many others I have used in the past. Thank you Caribou Gear! I also suggest you consider the Caribou Gear Hunter’s Tarp. It is a nice accessory to help keep your meat clean and dry as well as yourself should the weather turn ugly.
Bought this product for a archery Elk hunt in CO. Shot a cow Elk, as we used the first bag for the first side of the “bone free front quarter” the bottom seem ripped out of the first bag. The second bag I tried to used looked like runs in a stocking! Good thing my hunting partner had some good quality game bags.
We used them and threw mine in the garbage bag as soon as we got to camp. If there had not been a back up, with the flies and bees I would have lost a lot of my hard worked for meat. I would recommend a different game bag.
Caribou Gear Game Bags are some of the finest meat carrying bags available. Constructed from a synthetic material that is extremely lightweight and compact, they are perfect for backcountry hunting. The synthetic blend is stain resistant and washable, allowing you to get multiple years of use out of your bags.
They feature a pull string top for easy closure and a locking loop which allows you to easily hang even the heaviest of meat. They also allow for optimal air circulation, preserving your hard earned meat while keeping it clean and protected.
Caribou Gear Single Quarter Game Bag – perfectly sized for Elk, each package contains 1-quarter bag (48″ X 28″), 1-zip lock bag, and 1-ID Tag. Each bag weighs 6. 5 oz.
I have a set of the Wapiti game bags that I have used successfully for a few seasons. They are great for packing my elk and deer parts out. I needed another bag for my hide capes, to keep them clean and out of the dirt.
Your single quarter bag was the right size to fill this need. Way better than just rolling the cape up and hoping for the best.
I use these to haul moose and bear out of the woods. Had to replace one bag to keep my set complete only because my game processor “accidentally” threw it away (brought all my bear meat in with one bag).
Muley – The species specific bare bones product contains game bags unique to the Muley package only. A perfect fit for the Back Country Hunter hunter. Suited for Muledeer quarters and meat parts or like sized game.
This small convenient package includes 5 game bags with our signature light reflective attachments and lock loops strategically placed for easy locate in your pack or the darkest of nights.
I bought this combo bag package for a recent colorado elk hunt and the bags worked perfect. I was able to get one cow elk into this bag system: 1 quarter in each large bag (4). The back straps, neck, and side meat all fit into the smaller bag with ease.
The snow was thin where I was processing my animal and the bags kept the dirt out and off the meat. There is a draw string for closing the opening and several, reflective, loops sewn into the bag for hanging the meat in trees or to tie to a pack for transport.
The blood also washed right out of the bag making them reusable for many years to come. This is a great product and I would buy them again.
No two hunts are the same. Its a fact. The Badlands Vario Modular Pack System was designed to adapt to the changing conditions of the hunt. A truly customizable system, the Vario will be there for you like a trusty companion.
No, not like a spousemore like a loyal thoroughbred workhorse that would never leave you stranded. The best part?.
Love it for what it is I thought it had buckles to buckle into the ox frame like the vario bag but it doesnt. It is well made with excellent material and washes good for multiple uses. I will buy several more to make multiple trips with.
If badlands made this buckle in it would be 140% love it but for now I sit at 95% love it.
I orderd this game bad not knowing how well it was made. This game bad looks and works amazing. I have many packs and it works for all of them. Made my pack out even better. Kept my meat clean and safe.
I liked it enough to get 2 more. Badlands knocked it out of the park, like normal.
Could not be happier with this purchase. The game bag has a lip, just like the Vario packs, that secures the bag super well to the frame. I just used it this weekend for mule deer opener and it made for a very secure 6 mile pack out.
Lots of space also. I was able to bring a lot of bone in cuts that I would normally have to debone.
The Economy Big Game Quarter Bags are 48″ x 12″ and made of lightweight, breathable material. The quarter bags will kelp keep your meat clean and protected from insects. Recommended for elk and caribou.
Bags are well constructed but of much lower quality materials than “Allen game bags” I have previously purchased elsewhere. I have used Allen Game bags for many years but my last game processor (stupidly) threw my bags away.
Given the price of these bags being similar to the ones I already have I ‘assumed’ they would be the same quality linen bags (like cotton sheets) with cord draw strings. These bags are more like cheese cloth and made with much lower quality materials.
Be sure to seek out Allen “Premium” game bags if that is what you are after. My old ones came in orange nylon draw sacks – I’ll have to try again to find some of equal quality to my previous bags – the ones here are truly disposable quality.
I always use these to transport meat back home then use heavy duty bags to hang. Only complaint I have is with the item description. It is not a 4 pack. This should be removed or changed, as it is deceptive.
Anyone that doesn’t know how many quartering bags are in a pack, it should say 4 quartering bags per pack. The box pictured and 4 pack lead me to believe it was a 4 pack of bags. Maybe I’m the only one.
1Lb Wild Game Bags- 25 Count Features: 1 lb. bags are 10-3/4 Inch long x 4-1/4 Inch wide 2mm thick, opaque, polyethylene 1 1/2 Inch bottom gusset for added burst protection Protects against freezer burn.
Used them all up stuffing Venison sausage and hamburg. Worked fantastic and I used crimping pliers to seal them up. Worked so good that I ordered the LEM tape sealer with 50 more bags. I have LEM’s #5 big bite grinder, meat mixer, patty, jreky, snack stick maker and have found all of them to be top of the line products.
Sometimes I wished I had bought a little bigger grinder but the #5 does everything I want.
These bags work great and are a super alternative to freezer paper or vacuum bags. We started using these two years ago, and we safe a ton of time and money. We run the venison right from the grinder into the bags using a 2 1/2 inch stainless tube.
A tip for you, label the bags before you fill them. Once they are full of cold meat, the get condensation on them and are hard to right on.
The first few bags have sometimes been unusable because the tape on them has not come off easy and it tears the bag. We also had a few bags just split and come apart. Not many out of the 100 we buy at a time but sometimes annoying when you get a few like that after packing meat into them.
Designed for the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation’s (RMEF) Team Elk, with the goal to make the best all-around hunting packs to RMEF members as well as hunters everywhere. The Team Elk pack has a unique set of best-in-class features, including fold-away rifle scabbard, built-in bow carrier, Intex tubular aluminum frame, grapple-compression straps, waist-belt rangefinder pockets, and more! At 3,100 cubic inches (50 liters), the Team Elk pack hits the sweet spot in hunting pack size.
It serves well as a day pack but can serve for shorter multi-day trips, and is a great game hauler. With its body-following contours and a bottom-shelf design, the intex frame provides excellent comfort and stability.
It’s a perfect combination of lightweight comfort and bomber-toughness. Made to be quiet and comfortable for all day hunting and rugged (but still comfortable) for end of day game hauling. The M5 has two optimal access points.
With both front-loading and top-loading access your gear is always within reach. Dual full-depth spotting scope and hydration pockets run top-to-bottom on both sides of the pack.
I recently purchased the RMEF Team Elk M5 pack and to date, I am very glad I did. I ultimately went for the M5 and not competitors packs for several deciding factors. Eberlestock’s M5 was the only pack I found which was thoughtfully designed to carry a rifle, a bow, and/or quarters of meat.
The organizational pockets inside provide a secure space for everything I carry. The pack wears well and feel good even after miles hiked while weighted down. A bonus was the 10% donation to RMEF for purchasing the pack.
The only draw backs I’ve experienced have been #1- the pack seems to tip over easily when placed on the ground. This gets a bit frustrating at times. #2- in cold conditions the internal cinch sack material gets crinkly and is a bit loud.
#3- is the outside pouches are difficult to fill if the internal compartments are already maxed out. I found that filling all pockets first before filling the cinch sack with clothes seems to work best.
So far so good and when any friend is in need of a new pack, I won’t hesitate in pointing them towards an Eberlestock!.
My previous hunts included my old Alice Pakc (dates me) from military days. Okay, but not great. Then when planning how to haul meat out, Alice was of no use. This year, I am assistant on an Elk hunt and figured time to up my game.
When the pack arrived, I loved the video on how to wear it and adjustmets. Also, the recommended smaller dry bags were good recommendations. I would not have looked for them or thought about them, but they came in handy.
My first outing with the pack was scout week #1 and very happy. Scout week #2 is coming up, so anticipate a good outing. There are so many pockets, I almost had to make up reasons to use them. Appreciate the flexibility and the outer bags.
I am curious on carrying the meat out with design away from body rather than close as I usually keep heavy close to the body. I do love the pack. Thank you.
Have owned the X2 for 3 seasons. When I got it the M5 was my other option. Due to less weight, I got the X2. It has been my everything pack, only forgoing it for my Kelty pack frame for elk. X2 has packed deer, elk and bear.
This year I requested my wife to buy me the M5 RMEF for Christmas. It is a little heavier and way more storage. I did purchase the large add on bags. Love them as well as the pack. I have not used it yet, but did get to play with it some before being placed under tree.
I am 60, 5’8″ tall. I adjusted it for fit and put 100 lbs on it. It feels like it will be great for long packs out. As well it will carry everything I need for 1-4 days of hunting. I purchased the 3 litre water bladders with the X2.
Since they are made by Source. I now get the Source model with QD connections. Suggest Eberlestock carry those. Good luck in your hunts.
I bought a set and had it handy this year, when I got my moose. It was very helpful, I was able to protect the meat. I was hunting alone and still managed to get the meat home in good shape. I would say they are excellent for deer, good for elk, but by no means can you fit a quartered moose in those 4 bags(unless you get a midget moose:).
We washed the bags and I will try to use them again, seems they are durable and stretchable, exactly what I wanted. They are not perfect, but definitely better than nothing. I think I am going to buy another pack, good to have it handy during the big game season.
The Mountain Hauler 4000 is the perfect pack for day hunts or overnight stays when you need the ability to carry meat and horns out of the field simultaneously. The pack provides 3700 cubic inches of non-expanded volume for easy hiking with the capability to expand 800 cubic inches when needed.
The internal load-hauling shelf and antler straps beg for the workload when it’s time to get your harvest out of the field. The T-6 6061 aluminum frame provides for an adjustable suspension and a strong chassis enabling you to carry loads upwards of 150 lbs.
The two vertical exterior pockets hold most spotting scopes, tent poles or a Flash Shelter. The side pockets will hold tri-pods, trekking poles or water bottles. The triple-density foam waist belt maximizes comfort while Velcro placed on the waist belt holds most pistol holsters, bear spray, and other SITKA pack accessories.
My son and I both have this pack in M/L. I’m 6’0” and about 180lbs, he is 5’9, 140. With the adjustment system on the frame the same size pack worked well for both of us. If you’re a giant I’d go with the L/XL.
We carried this pack for multiple scouting trips, some pronghorn hunts, and elk hunts. It is a great pack and held up well to everything we threw at it. The only meat hauling I did was a couple of cow elk someone else shot, but the pack worked great for those.
Since the hauling shelf is on the inside you’ll want to pack your extra clothing in other compartments. When full of meat it limits how much other stuff you can haul, but the internal shelf system keeps the load nice and high for anyone with not-so-young lower back.
The way it’s set up you can adjust how that weight rides, which I like.
This pack has been everything I could have asked for! I’ve packed out a whole muley on one trip in Wyoming and then just yesterday a whole boned out cow elk all in one trip! I’ve used some other cheaper packs but this one right here is definitely worth the money! Have had it two years now and it’s been on 6 back country hunts so far and multiple trips just hiking the mountains around the house and it has yet to fail me.
I believe the way you are able to pull the load so close to your back makes the biggest deference for me, I would encourage anyone looking for a pack to really consider this one as you won’t be disappointed!.
Amazing pack! Went on a multi day elk backpacking trip in colorado after a snow storm, with a full pack and loved it! There are so many pockets and I ended up putting my rifle on one of the sides with the stock in the water bottle pocket and strapped it in and it worked great! Can’t ask for more in a pack.
Super comfortable, And tons of room, shocked how much this pack expands.
The M5 RMEF Team Elk pack is one of the greatest all-around hunting packs ever created. It has a unique set of best-in-class features, including fold-away rifle scabbard, built-in bow carrier, Intex-II tubular aluminum frame, dual full-depth spotting scope and hydration pockets, grapple-compression straps, and more! It serves well as a day pack but is also great for shorter multi-day trips, and is a great game hauler.
These Alaska Gamebags Meat Bags Hunting are larger than standard meat transport bags. They are made without a bottom seam and have closure ties sewn into the bags that make it easier to close. These hunting game bags were specifically designed to accommodate the transport of large quarters from animals such as moose and elk.
Each package contains one heavy-duty 24 inchx 30 inch bag and one hunter/recipient meat transfer form. These hunting game bags can be used for deer, sheep or bear hide. They can be used to keep bugs, dirt, predators, and adverse weather away from fresh meat.
These Meat Bags Hunting bags are compact and odor-free. They can also be reused. These hunting game bags are made with a strong, light, durable material that will allow you to transport your catch easily.
These worked very well for packing out a bull elk. I bought the quarter rolled bags. They took up less space and packed nicely with other gear. The bags fit elk quarters and cooled/protected the meat as expected.
This was for a late rut mature bull. Quarters fit snugly (no hide) but all meat was salvaged. You will need to roll the bag over the quarter rather than slide it in. Bags did not tear and washed up nicely with just a little bleach.
Well I really like this product seems well suited for meat, it appears to be heavy duty. I wish I would had chance to use it but got buck early on hunt and had meat processed in town before hunt trip was over.
I ordered the game bags pictures, canvas 36×72 and instead received a 72 carcass bag NOT CANVAS. I emailed support about it and got zero response. Too bad I have to eat the cost since that is also the same support email given to request returns.
Very dissatisfied with this purchase and the response to return the item. I only gave a star because it was required.

There are several factors to consider when choosing a game bag for elk. The size of the bag should be large enough to comfortably hold the elk, but not so large that it becomes cumbersome to carry. The material should be durable enough to withstand the elements and the weight of the elk, but not so heavy that it makes the bag difficult to carry.
The bag should also have enough pockets and compartments to store all of the necessary gear for hunting and processing the elk.
