20 Best Futon Mattress For Sitting (2023 Updated)

It’s not as comfortable as the description would have you believe. There’s absolutely no bounce to it. It’s pretty plain and thin. But you get what you pay for! If I could go back I would choose and thicker mattress, but this one does the job.

My biggest complaint? It’s tufted, to help keep the stuffing from bunching up inside the mattress, but the sections where it’s tufted have these bead things on them, so if you don’t put a mattress topper or some kind of foam or something on top of the mattress, the beads are extremely uncomfortable!.

Bought two of the mattresses for two different room but had to use them together for support and to add comfort because they are not as thick as advertised, and if it’s real memory foam. very poor quality foam.

We love this mattress! I ordered a queen size and put it on the floor of my 2 year olds room and we hang out on it and do story time he naps on it all the time! Ive seen my husband nap on it too bc its so comfortable!.

We’re planning on using this to help my son transition into a real bed. Overall I think a quality is really great there’s three separate sections in the middle which would support your backend center mass.

there’s a layer around the outside that actually cups you in, I find this extremely comfortable.

I love this mat – I had to have something for my grandson to sleep on when he slept over, we were having issues with that and this is perfect. It’s the size of a twin bed – so perfect for my 2 year old grandson.

Very comfy, came with a removable cover that can be washed.

My son came back from college for winter break and this mattress was perfect! His old one had to go and his frame was a futon sofa, which when he is gone, is our new den! Loved the customer service, so helpful when the futon cover didn’t fit! Exchanged and fixed it right away.

The mattress is very well made and quite firm. Our guests who have slept on it say it’s comfortable. If you prefer a softer mattress you might want to go with a different option. Customer service from the FutonLand team was five stars, as well.

I bought 2 to use at right angles for sitting and guest seating in my new LR. They sit on a low platform, and I used the large pillowsandbolsters for the back and ends. Great zip off covers from Futon Land.

Now my daughter has bought for her house. Rave reviews from all sitters, and sleepers! Look great too. All for a reasonable price and the service couldn’t have been better.

Wanted a futon for ny spare bedroom/office and this is just what I was looking for. Arrived in three boxes and the mattress tightly rolled and packaged. It is heavy to carry but well packaged. Due to my husbands health issues we paid.

for Walmart/Angi to send someone to put it together. However you will want a second person to help put the final bed together. There were a few slight scratches or marks but nothing too noticeable. This is nice heavy wood and the mattress is actually pretty comfortable.

The futon isnot difficult to switch from couch to ved but you do need to move it away from the wall. Love the two storage drawers. Extra storage is always good. Very happy with this purchase.

Assembled futon unit is more comfortable and supportive than our old LLBean whose metal hinges had mistracked and easily bent. Lots of assembly. Three sets of hands with hex bit in drill/driver worked well.

Supplied allen wrenches would work but is slow. Two people held parts in place while one did fasteners. We wood glued joints to backup the fasteners. Took an hour and a quarter with the help. Mattress and cover are not included.

Thumb size spot was missing finish and 1 decorative hole plug was missing, very minor. Would buy again.

This is a very well made futon. I really like that it has arms. Makes it just like a couch. The color was perfect. The matteress was very comfortable. It was also very easy to put together. Makes a perfect couch in our den and will be easy to pull down into a double bed when needed.

Mattress is generally pretty comfortable, both as a couch and as a full-size bed. A couple of issues we had with it: 1. Mattress doesn’t quite fold up as nicely as I’d like it to. One side of the mattress sort of bunches up rather than folding in like the other side.

2. The cover on this mattress is just zipped over the various different components of the mattress itself, meaning that once you unzip the cover you expose the loose bits of cotton padding inside. We had purchased a mattress protector that we were hoping to put between the mattress and the cover – this doesn’t seem like a good idea given what we saw when we unzipped the cover.

All in all, these are smaller details, but for something that is as expensive as this mattress I would have liked to not have to deal with those two issues.

We are using the mattress on a wing arm style dark wooden futon frame, and it looks great. The cover material is of very high quality in appearance, and very comfortable. We do not use our futon as a bed, we use it exclusively as a couch.

This is the first futon mattress we have found that actually folds properly on a frame and gives you the couch feel, not a folded mattress feel. (It uses a hinge system to accomplish this). It also has inner springs which makes it a true couch feel, no more saggy foam/stuffing seat.

The back is also very supportive as there are springs there too I believe. This maker has performed magic, this is not your spare room, college dorm mattress!.

I purchased this mattress for a guest room. It is probably the most comfortable futon mattress I have ever purchased. I have purchased 3 over the past few years for myself and for other family members.

The springs are free-floating, so the mattress can handle being in a folded position. It lays out well without there being a weird dent from being folded couch-style. I prefer this futon mattress to a sleeper couch or to the futons of the 60’s packed with cotton and wool.

I own 3 other wool mattresses from another retailer that are phenomenal. This mattress is a huge disappointment, the smell is terrible, it literally smells like a sheep in a barn, I am beyond shocked.

I’m sure someone reading this will balk, but do an internet search and you will find I’m not the only person to have this issue. Customer service simply recommended “air the mattress. ” Absolutely unbelievable to me.

I highly caution anyone considering this retailer, I fully regret this purchase and had I seen the no return police prior to purchase I’d never have even considered. Not taking returns to me is a red flag and I certainly missed this one.

The item took a month to arrive. Customer service is unsatisfactory. If you want a quality wool mattress that does not have the odor of a live sheep shop elsewhere. The excuse that this is a “truly natural product” is the stupidest argument I’ve ever heard, using soap does not make the product less natural or organic.

This is a subpar product period. The filling is not even encased…so the “cotton cover” isn’t a cover, it’s all that’s holding the mattress together. It’s cheap for a reason and it’s not with it. The picture is the mattress “airing” over my treadmill bc it’s unusable due to the smell.

Pretty confident it’s going to be a complete loss of money in the end. Customer service is super important to them, I think not. Save yourself money time and trouble.

I would not recommend purchasing online from this company (cannot speak to in-person). I received a futon mattress that was significantly underfilled ( like what is supposed to be a 6″ thick mattress is less than 1″ thick at the foot and I can feel my own fingers through it), and it was supposed to be a medium firm, but it is painfully soft.

Even without the underfilling in one section, the rest of the mattress is WAY too soft for me. I have been having significant back and body pain since purchasing. When I reached out to request an exchange, I didn’t hear back for 2 days (its a 30 day guarantee for exchanges), and they just directed me to look at the website for more information about exchanges.

The only specific instructions are to register your waranty (which I did) and then email the commpany (which I had done, and they proceeded to direct me to the website- circular logic). It then took an additional 2 days to even get the address to ship the mattress.

In the fine print- customer is responsible for shipping both ways, which in my case would be at minimum $300, plus the cost of TLDR: the mattress I recieved is defective, and I can’t return it. Customer service was not helpful or prompt, and it will cost me an additional $300 in shipping to exchange and gamble on a new mattress with this company.

I needed to replace a futon I bought in 1997 in Hong Kong. I had no idea where to buy one or how to select it. Amazingly, I emailed the Futon Shop and received excellent advice. Your futon is identical in feel to my old one.

I purchased my mattress at the $300 price last year. It’s a great mattress that started soft and has become firm. It think the mid foam layer compressed. It’s still comfortable but the days of it hugging me all over have past.

I’m buying 4 inches of Wayfair memory foam and a cover now to brung back the plushness. But the mattress itself is well built and a steal under $200 with what I suggest in mind.

When I was trying to make up my mind which mattress to choose, I called Futonland and asked some questions. The Rep was very knowledgeable and helped me make my decision. Then he told me I should order a standard futon cover, even though this mattress is 9-inches high, because it is unique.

I appreciated that advice, but then I went online and ordered the larger sized mattress cover anyway, just to be safe. I just thought maybe they made a mistake. Very quickly someone called me back to schedule my delivery and told me I should order the cover a size down! So I did.

And that saved me money, too! They could have easily just let me buy the wrong one and then have to call and order another one. Anyway, so the delivery windows are a little odd, but I got lucky and they were able to deliver my mattress by the next morning! I was so excited.

It’s a nice mattress and color was perfect. Thickness and comfort level are perfect. Only thing is there’s white thread where it’s tufted. It should’ve been red to match the mattress color.

Very disappointed! It is no more than 3” thick after 4 days and fluffing it everyday. It is hard as a rock and no memory foam is felt at all. Not worth the cost.

The picture indicates that stone is a tan color. Nope! Its gray…like a stone. Fortunately it wasnt a huge deal to us. Good shape to mattress. Will update after use.

Just what I was looking for. Quick shipping absolutely love the color matches everything in the room. Is a little firmer than I would like but I am sure that will loosen up as it being used. As usual a great transaction and buy from Wayfair.

This mattress is thick and comfortable. The colour is a lighter grey than depicted but still nice. Delivery was quick and simple too.

We like the size, shape and blue fabric. Fits perfect and the foam is firm enough to not feel the gaps between the slats on our wooden futon frame, which is what we had hoped for. We thought 6″ would be too thin but it turned out to be perfect.

Purchased this futon mattress to go with a futon bunk bed purchased for my daughter. We could not be happier with the comfort of this futon mattress, and now we can enjoy our nightly reading without back pain afterwards.
