20 Best Full Synthetic Oil 0W20 (2023 Updated)

I have used Mobile 1 since 1978 and it has been the best oil I could buy. It saved my butt on Christmas morning as there was a huge snowstorm Xmas morning in 83′. Expressways were shut down due to high winds, drifting snow and temperatures at -30 F.

We spent Xmas eve at an emergency storm shelter. That morning, out of 50-80 cars, trucks & buses. My car and one other were the only ones that would start. Mobile 1 oil does not thicken in extreme cold weather like conventional oil.

My engines never had sludge build up like other cars and I typically keep my cars to 200K miles.

The opposite of convenient. I have been doing the same thing with the same product with every other auto parts store for many years. The longest it ever took to get the – it’s ready to be picked up has been 30 minutes, until Oreillys.

It not only took several hours for someone to walk 20 feet over a jug of oil, they sent the email minutes before they closed, so I had to wait for something every other place had. When I did pick up the oil, the guy was a jerk.

I will never be back. In a nutshell – you are employed by lazy people who give people like me many reasons to go anywhere but your place to shop. You should all do 2 things as far as I’m concerned. Be ashamed, and find a new line of work.

I’ve used Mobil 1 from Auto Zone since I bought my 2016 Mazda CX-5. It’s performing like the day I bought it. Mobil One can be bought anywhere, but, when you buy from Auto zone you get mare than the others.

I usually buy a 5 quart container and filter. The one time I couldn’t get the 5 quart container, AutoZone gave me 5 one quart containers for the same price. Additionally the filter that came with the deal was out so they upgraded me to a better filter.

I’m a veteran and they applied the 10% discount to an already good deal.

The 0W-20 oil I use in both a naturally aspirated four cylinder and a turbocharged four cylinder engines. The manufacturer recommends the 0W-20 synthetic motor oil. At over 120,000 miles, the naturally aspirated four cylinder engine burns NO oil and remains at above the “add” mark for over 7,500 miles.

The turbo four has less than 50,000 miles and does not burn oil. the average MPG is above the manuracturer’s claim. cannot recommend highly enough,.

I’ve been using Mobil 1 0W-20 AFE oil in my 2016 Honda Accord, direct injected 2. 4L since 6200 miles. First oil change after engine break in, OE oil came out and Mobil 1 AFE 0W-20 went in. After 6000 miles of service using Mobil 1 AFE, the oil level dropped about a quarter of a quart as expected.

The OE oil evaporated over 6,000 miles as well and is normal for anyone concerned. I check the oil at every fill up at the gas station and keep the oil in the trunk. I live in a dry, very hot, dusty climate and a lot of stop & go traffic.

Under my current environmental conditions, it doesn’t make sense to purchase a higher end Mobil oil and risk leaving the oil in for a year or when the oil life monitor says to change the oil. 5 to 6 thousand miles or every 6 months between oil changes in Phoenix is cheap insurance.

I change it for peace of mind and ensure proper care of my engine. This oil has excellent flow at low temperatures and when you start your car after sitting overnight. Engine is very quiet and smooth when first started.

Quick flow is what prevents wear during starts and Mobil has it figured out with this oil. MRV viscosity @ -40 degrees Celcious for this oil is 9200, never seen a spec like that. Most other brands usually only list specs down to -35.

A lot starts happening that is important at these extreme low temperatures and there is a big difference in oil performance between -35 and -40 celcious. Hard to beat the specs of Mobil 1 AFE. Great product, readily available, competitively priced and just as good if not better in my opinion over OE oil.

Mobil 1 always seems to perform with high end products, highly recommend!.

I’ve honestly used a number of different oil brands in my F250 now; there’s really only a few brands that can go the distance with my twin turbocharged F250 Super Duty! All the others seem to break down and lose their viscosity rather quickly! Castor is my go-to for my trucks oil every time to keep that motor protected and allow it to run at the highest peak it can possibly run on at all times! Of course the only place that never lets me down in knowing that what I need for my truck, including the motor oil when it’s calling for it! Is Oreilly’s every time! Hands down no doubt about it!!.

2013 Malibu eco 60,000 miles. Because of the known issue with the weak piston rings and severe blow by on the 2. 4L engines, I was adding about 2. 5 quarts of oil in 5000 miles. Check oil every 500 miles.

Switched to mobile 1 full synthetic at about 35000 miles. Nothing changed. Changed to Pennzoil at 45000 miles. Used about a quart and a half in 5000 miles. Changed to Castrol edge titanium full synthetic at 55000.

Always Used same weight. 5w30. It has used less than a quart in 5000 miles and although it’s hard to measure by eye it does look like less blow by from port on valve cover when hot at idle. Looks like this is the new oil for the Malibu from here on out.

My daughters Tahoe uses this oil and she drives alot! So she needs the best protection she can get! Thanks Castrol!

In a fleet of trucks, I have ZERO knocking sounds, 1 vehicle has over 300K miles with all of the original pwr steering, alternator, water pump. Etc. and no problems. This oil drastically reduces friction and in all of my trucks my RPM’s have dropped with less stress on the engines.

It has Improved my MPG’s overall. Simply put, this oil saves & makes me money.

For a tune up on my 2018 Honda Accord it feels good driving and knowing my engine is running good.

To clear up some previous posts, this oil is gm Dexos 1 generation 2 approved. I emailed gm and mobil. Oil seems to be clean and doing its job after 1 month of use. Always used Mobil 1. Would reccomend to anyone wanting years of service for there automobile.

Mobile 1 is the only oil I use in my truck. I have a little over 136000 miles on it and have not had any issues. I continue to keep using this brand. I usually have to add under a quart before my oil life gets down to 10%.

Through many years of working on Hydraulic systems, I learned that Mobil Oil always seemed to help our machines perform better. I came to trust Mobil Oil thru those years and trust all my vehicles to Mobil Oil also!.

Mobil 1 oil, is one of the best oils on the Market today. I have used Mobil 1 oil for all my VW vehicles since 2006. The lab test results have been proven that it complies with VW Dealership Oil.

I was a little apprehensive about the natural gas, but after I did some research and video watching I understood the benefits of it and also, I work at a Jeep dealer which uses it, I made the switch and was amazed at what it did!!! My grandfather used Pennzoil in the past with my first Jeep, Now I’m officially the newest member to the Pennzoil family! Now for my 2017 Jeep Wrangler 4 door Big Bear, I’ll be using the world class protection of Pennzoil Platinum Full Synthetic! I really recommend it for all of the Jeep models including my 2 favorite models, the Wrangler and the Grand Cherokee! Pennzoil really does the job in the very hot heat and very cold New England weather.

So, if anyone has a Jeep, I strongly suggest that you use Pennzoil Platinum!.

I had a quick rattle on startup 2007 Mustang 4. 6 L @ 58K miles. I tried other premium oil and filters and was beginning to think it was a more serious mechanical issue. I switched to this oil and a (another brand ultra-synthetic) filter (because they don’t sell Pennzoil filters in my area), and the noise was instantly gone.

From the first crank, no more. Startup is smooth, quick, easy. Motor and car run noticeably smoother. The product says it provides the same protection as 5W-20, so I’m covered there. Looking forward to trying this stuff out.

I been a mechanic for 23 years and I seen tests done from vendors and I am sold on full synthetic for my ram 1500 5. 7 with a good quality oil filter , I change my oil between 5000-7500 miles , I pull a camper up to 7k pounds and take long trips to Days to -zero degrees to above 100 degrees.

If u have engine problems a better oil won’t help u , regular oil is fine in 75% of cars , if ur oil cap says requires synthetic and it’s under warranty make sure u use it or they will void it. Another myth is at 5k miles I don’t see any difference between color VS a synthetic oil, it’s still dark black.

It seems like most oil breaks down at 1500-2000 miles and changes color quick. I’m going with what I seen. In person on tests and I’m using synethic and I like it s made from natural gas.

Started using Mobile 1 in a new 2005 CRV at the first oil change. Changed the oil and filter ever year. Sometimes with 8K on the oil. Sometimes 12K. I did the 100K plug change and checked the valve lash.

The plugs could probably last 200K. What was very impressive was the valve lash was within 0. 001 of being in tolerance. The cam chain guides had no wear and timing chain marks were dead on. The inside of the valve cover was clean and looked new other then some slight yellow heat stains.

Beyond belief. Been doing all my own work since the 60s. I know what is impressive.

Our go to oil for 30 years to end carbon build up in lawn tractor engines powered by propane to burnish/polish retail sales floors. Propane burns hotter than gasoline and conventional motor oil couldn’t take the heat.

Mobile 1 doubled and tripled the life of our customer’s engines. I use nothing else in my autos and truck as well as my small 4 cycle engines. This is the gold standard of synthetic oil. All synthetics are not equal.

All depends on the additives. Trust Mobile 1 and forget it. I change the oil every 5000 miles in heavy use vehicles and once a year in low mileage vehicles. Run my vehicles for 20 years and never replace the engine.

Well over 200000 miles and trucking. Upper line of Amsoil very good too but Mobile 1 is simpler to use.

Probably once all the crap is out and this is in full lubrication. Been using Amsoil for 3 years now and decided to change when watching reviews of the product performance. It beats out almost everything in the market.

Only certain racing line oils surpass it and also cost more. I feel it’s perfect for everyday cars, and have used it with BMW turbo engines to naturally aspirated. I feel it’s best quality is maintaining your engines output for a longer time and excellent for people who don’t drive with pedal to metal.

For example most oils work great up to the first 500 miles of an oil change. Engine is fully topped off and the car is providing it’s rated power. Usually after that I see performance decline as the oil cooks.

I see with this oil it pretty much holds sold to about 4000 miles and I always top off fluid and my OCI is 5,000 even though that’s way under potential. My oil goes in golden and comes out a light brownish gold.

Not burgundy like most cooked oils or dark black. I like to keep my internals clean and don’t mind paying a premium when I do my own work. My strong suggestion would be not go over 7,000 miles even though tests do show very low degradation even after 20,000.

Especially if you drive aggressively on a consistent basis.

IšverstiShow in original languageI’ve been an AmsOil customer for probably 15 years. I’ve use AmsOil products in my Surburbans, Avalons, motor cycles, and small engines. Pre-pandemic I used to be a 10-14k/year driver for both vehicles.

Consequently, I’m a once-per-year oil changer. Granted, the Sub takes 8. 5 qts and the Avalon requires 6. 5 qts. I’ve NEVER worried about lubrication issues with AmsOil products. I sold an Avalon after 207k miles with ZERO additions between annual oil changes.

The Chevy’s are maybe 1/2 quart between changes, but I pull a boat to Canada at least 1x/year so that’s to be expected. Although purchase price is a bit more than other products, long term costs are less $$ due to the longer change intervals.

When I bought my Yamaha FJR1300 motorcycle, the previous owner had AmsOil on the shop shelf which made me more confident in my purchase, even though it had 36k miles. It’s a no-brainer.

IšverstiShow in original languageI switched my truck at 165k. The first oil change I burnt through 3 qts (out of 8qts). AMSOIL explained the high level of detergents we’re cleaning my engine. Mind this truck NEVER burns oil, ever.

The next oil change 15k later the oil consumption stopped. I wanted AMSOIL for the convenience of 15k change interval. What I happily found was my mpg went up 1. 5 mpg, from 15. 5 highway to 17mpg. Pulling our trailers mpg went up.

5mpg but I haven’t pull extended highway miles yet just 1hr to 2hr jaunts. This past winter the truck sat out in -45F over night multiple nights and fired up right away …. My old synthetic required extended cranking but always started on first try.

With AMSOIL it’s instantaneous. We have 4 cars/trucks …. They’re all going 100% AMSOIL. I’m a believer.

1998 Tacoma, I used to drive this truck for 250miles/day, Using Castrol-GTX/3000miles. Soon as it reached 1500miles, gpm went from 20 to 17. I tried every things that people recommended on the internet to improve gpm.

sparkplug changed every 25k-30kmiles(do not use Bosh Platinum, just OEM Nippon Denso plug). Nothing worked. Soon as I switched over to Mobil1 Sync with OEM oil filter. My truck drove better, smoother, quieter and gpm remain @20gpm until the next oil changed which is 10Kmiles.

You can see the Viscosity of the oil remain the same, just darker. So I switched all my whole family vehicles(5 Toyotas, sedan-truck-van-SUV) to used this type of oil since 2000. Since I maintenance all vehicles myself, this 10kmiles oil change save me a lots of times and $$$$.

Let me tell you an impressive story about this oil. I gave my son the truck for his college years, in 4year. When the truck did not run(because of the MAF sensor clogged), he called me to come checked the truck, there was no oil on the dipstick.

DRIED!!!! Soon as I cleaned the MAF, I cranked the engine, it started right away. there is no issue with the engine. I still driving it now. over 200kmiles/24yrs still running like new. why buy new vehicles since mine run and looks like new plus paid off.

Mobil 1 Full Synthetic 5W20 until 75,000 miles then Mobil 1 Full Synthetic 5W30. My wife’s 2016 KIA SOUL would crank and run with no issues right up until someone hit her from behind on the Interstate and totaled her car.

She was going about 55 mph and they were going at least 80 to 100 mph. The care was folded under, but the engine was running like normal while the Highway Patrol had to pry her out of the car and the Tow Truck guy had to open the hood and disable it to get the engine to stop running.

My wife suffered no injuries. We went and purchased a new KIA SPORTAGE and are using Mobil 1 Full Synthetic Oil in it. Who ever buys that car for the engine is getting a solid KIA SOUL engine. At 200,000 miles we started using Mobil 1 Full Synthetic 20,000 mile oil.

That Soul would crank and start like a new car. We have a 2001 Ford F-250 V-10 Triton Crew Cab and 2002 Ford F-250 5. 4L Crew Cab 4X4 and they both are above 200,000 miles and we run Mobil 1 Full Synthetic 20,000 mile oil in them.

I did my oil change 10-4-21. Immediately after checking everything and making sure no leaks. This oil is even better the valve train sounds quieter and acceleration is a breeze. So far happy with Redline products and no more Mobil 1 or Amsoil, for me.

Scion FRS approaching 100,000 miles of daily driving & countless track days. Switched to Redline early on as my typical peak oil temps were ~265F with the Subaru OEM oil cooler I was using. Years later my oil analysis results continue show good wear.

I always use Red Line Oil, whether it’s my 370Z, or my vintage go karts, it’s simply the best. When I go on line to purchase racing parts, Pegasus is normally my first stop. I wish they could supply all the Nissan 370Z parts that I purchase.

I’ve been using royal purple for a while. Just did an oil change at 7500kms to get ready for camping season and the old oil looked brand new. It didn’t have the purple colour but had a nice amber colour, I can’t believe how well this oil holds up.

I am very particular about doing oil changes 5-7500kms because it’s cheap, easy maintenance. This oil can probably go triple that number but to each his own. PS, anyone stating this oil improves gas mileage is wrong.

They either needed an oil change BADLY or they were using the incorrect grade. Motor oil alone cannot increase fuel economy as it has nothing to do with air/fuel mixture in a 4 stroke fuel injected engine.

The company specialty was and still is a product made for performance vehicles. Racing! They manufacture for industrial, commercial and consumer products oils including consumer Diesel engines. They do not sell directly to the public but the website is very informative and easy to go through.

It tells you what product is the right product to select for your needs. One thing is important to note for those not familiar with this brand. The oil for my car is tinted a deep purple color. However don’t expect to see purple oil after starting your vehicle.

When you check the dip stick it might look dirty and clean at first. It turns to the clean color you normally see after an oil change. It doesn’t take long for the tint to dissolve. If you’re curious what the oil looks like? Ask the first time using the oil if you can observe it being put into the car.

In daylight you can see the color. Inside it just might look like old black oil. Important to note; This product specifics not to use any additives to it. So, if you take your car in to be serviced for example let’s use a car dealership.

And they try to sell you an additive that helps the oil clean as it works or reduces friction wear. You get to say no thank you and point to the label on the bottle. Then you tell them politely you would rather save the money.

This oil doesnt need it. Be careful, because service shops will take advantage of those lacking the knowledge about what they are trying to sell you. Just for them to make money off the less knowledgeable consumer.

Yes, this is a full synthetic oil. Also remember the purple tint dissipates rather quickly. Get the detailed information about their variety of products from their website. I also suggest using their brand oil filter if you use this oil.

I have used Valvoline engine oils since I owned my first car when I was 18. Before that my old man has used it since as long as I can remember. I have gone from Maxlife blend in my older higher mileage cars (88 Dodge Caravan and 96 Hyundai Accent) to SynPower, now known as Advanced Full Synthetic in my newer cars (2009 Suzuki SX4, 2016 Toyota Rav4, and 2022 Cadillac XT5).

In all my years of using these oils my engines have always ran like the day I have taken the car home brand new with never any issues related to the engines themselves regardless of the engine manufacturer.

This oil has advanced well throughout the years getting better and better and has always done a phenomenal job in maintaining the reliability in all my car engines. I give my car oil changes every 6 months before the extreme seasons of winter and summer so they have a fresh batch for the coldest and hottest days.

Best protection for extreme temperatures. I also started using other Valvoline lubricants for other components like the differentials for the AWD system and the transmission fluid. Valvoline is a safe bet and among the best of the best you can give your beloved workhorse.

I have three Lexus automobiles and I wouldn’t use nothing else but mobile one. I always felt that’s spending a little bit more is well worth it. I will never change. Mobil 1 forever

Have used these oils in my cars for decades. One Honda has 240k and it is still going strong

I wish Quaker State would have changed hands their old oil was the best. I used regular conventional Quaker State 2050 and a 500 horsepower muscle car starting back in the 80s. It had detergent in it all the zinc it needed.

Now you can’t get anything except for a blend which might be okay. But synthetic is too thin and racing oil doesn’t have detergent. A bunch of us are left in limbo now about what to use. We don’t want anything high mileage that messes with your seals.

so I’m actually moving away from Quaker State. They used to be the best there were but they left many of us in the cold. A legendary famous Pontiac engine builder got me hooked on Quaker State in the mid 80s.

He told me do not use racing all because you’re supposed to change it every 500 miles it gets dirty. He also said he’s never had an engine taking apart that’s been using Quaker State it’s whole life that was dirty.

But they don’t have that all anymore that’s all I gots is all mileage baloney.

Great reasonably prices synthetic oil brand for your car. Synthetic oil is great for your car but if you have a high mileage car, definitely look into quaker states high mileage synthetic formula which is around the same price maybe a few dollars more.

I love the consistency of the oil and can definitely tell the difference on how smooth ur engine and car runs on good synthetic oil. Again, I prefer high mileage synthetic oil because it seem like the oil is clearer and lighter on the car which usually is better as ur car gets older.

Good thing Quaker state also carries high mileage synthetic! I got a great discounted deal in store on this product but in general cheaper than the particular brand I buy. Take care of ur car and use synthetic blend and make sure you check ur caps which usually tell you what type of oil u should buy.

Mine Toyota Camry takes 5w-30.

This is awesome oil. I currently use the 0W20 in my Stock Subaru 2022 WRX and the girlfriends 2017 Jeep Renegade. I have sent off oil samples of this oil at 5k to blackstone and they come back saying I could run it another 2500 miles.

Everyone knows Subaru turbo’d boxer engines are very tough on oil. I change at 5k for warranty purposes. I also use the 5w20 Full synthetic high mileage variant of the oil For my 2013 Chrysler 200 which has 124,000 miles on it.

With all the vehicles that this provides protection for, all the engines are quiet and this oil is doing its job. This oil also meets the oil specification for Chrysler 6395. I am extremely pleased with it, thank you Quakerstate for providing a product that makes my engines last, I will continue to buy it.

I am no scientist, and I can’t give you a scientific review about this oil. All I can say is that I tries this product in my Kia Spectra 2009 EX 4 cylinder engine. The engine ran smooth, the oil kept its integrity and by the time I changed it the color of the oil was a light brown cinnamon color, no as dark as other motor oils I have tried in the past.

The only downside of this motor oil is that you have to check your engine if you do long intervals of oil change. I do mine every 8000 miles and even though I check the dipstick every week, I did notice a drop of a 1/4 of a quart at 4000 miles.

I purchase my gas engine oil thru GoVets and have had nothing but good experiences. Mag one full synthetic gas engine oil is as good as any other full synthetic out there and better than most.
