20 Best Fuel Stabilizer For Snowblower (2023 Updated)

I use to be a believer in Sta-Bil. But after 2 seasons of having issues with my generator and mowers not wanting to run right I found something that works. I have had to replace every carburetor on all of my equipment.

2 of them just a couple of years old. I only use gas from stations that are “Top Tier rated, so gas is not the problem. The problem is after a few runs with Sta-Bil in the gas cans, the bowls and jets are cover with varnish.

My generator gets ran each month for about 15 minutes with about a half of gallon of gas til it runs dry. The 5 month it would not run. I pulled the carburetor and had to clean it out. This is what I thought was supposed to be prevented.

After talking to 2 mower shops about my issue and as soon as I mentioned using Sta-Bil in the gas they both said there’s your problem. And both recommend the same alternative product. I have not had an issue since with my equipment not starting or running.

Not sure why this happens, but I cannot recommend this product. This is solely my opinion which we are all entitled too. Others may have better luck. But for me and again this is my opinion, I’m done with Sta-Bil.

It’s a shame since I have had so much better luck out of other Golden Eagle Company product’s.

The new E10-E15 fuels are really rough on power equipment like mowers, trimmers, riders, etc. I try to use non-ethanol where available but no matter what fuel you use, you need to treat it with Sta-Bil to keep the fuel fresh.

I often end up with 3-5 gals of fuel at the end of the mowing season. Treated with Sta-Bil, it is good to go in the spring. And the power equipment with fuel in the tanks and carbs start up better as well.

Best to run them dry but not always possible. Fixed many a mower in the spring with dried crud in the float bowl. Sta-Bil prevents that.

The “Storage” in the name is good for short-term and longer term. I’ve used this for years with excellent results. Gasoline, left in a tank starts forming a residue which can really mess-up a gas engine.

This works. I use it in a Truck that is run intermittently and in an electric generator and other tools. Once, due to forgetfulness, I left a 1/2 tank of gas in a gas hole digger – for two years! I don’t recommend doing this on purpose – but it did have this product in its gas.

With fingers crossed, I put the choke on and pulled the rope slowly once, then turned the “Run” switch to “ON” and pulled harder on the rope – and it started! I used the remainder of that tank and refueled again, and it worked without a flaw.

That was impressive to me! This stufff, used properly, could save you a lot on repair money.

Your packaging is terrible. Just tried to add a bottle of STA-BIL fuel stabilizer to a full gas tank of gas and ended up just dumping the while bottle on the ground (and the vehicle) (is this corrosive?).

The narrow spout displaces too slowly and the large larger opening does not have a nozzle to reach the fuel port. Need to warn customers that a funnel is needed for dispensing. Would appreciate a credit coupon towards a new purchase, since I need to buy a new bottle.

I had a not so good experience with your product recently. I purchased an 8 ounce bottle of Sta-Bil fuel stabilizer last fall and followed the instructions mixing the correct portions of stabilizer to gas that I was treating.

I poured the mixture in my push mower and let it run for five minutes once started then proceeded to store the mower away for the off-season. A few weeks ago, I pulled the mower out to mow but to no avail.

The mower would not start. This mower was just purchased brand new last year so it wasn’t making any sense as to why it wouldn’t start. After a few more futile attempts at trying to start the mower, I gave up, drained the gas tank and refilled it with fresh gas.

On the very first try, the mower started. I have used Sta-Bil fuel stabilizer in the past but have never encountered this sort of problem. I cannot recommend this product to anyone when Gold Eagle doesn’t respond to it’s customers concerns about their product.

I have used Sta-Bil through the years for our equipment on our family farm with great success and performance. Have just purchased this product because of the ethanol in the fuel. which has no lubricating qualities.

alcohol. I used in my 2011 Triumph America motorcycle and the improvement in performance was noticed after about 50 miles or so of riding. The idle and throttling up performance was very noticeable. Helps keep the parts clean and fuel at a fresh state of chemistry.

Great product at a very reasonable price.

My fuel-injected truck was parked September 2015, with a fresh tank of 87 octane E10 gas and Stabil’s brand-new 360 Performance. Fast forward to May 2017: 20 months of sitting in the South Florida swamp, started right up! Sat again with a 1/4 tank of the same fuel/Stabil mix till September 2017 (a full 2 years!) and STILL starts! At the 2 year mark, the fuel does start to turn bad, the truck begins to run a little rough.

However, that’s a 1/4 tank in 90-95% humidity a full year past Stabil’s recommended product service life! As far as fuel storage, those conditions are just about worst-case scenario as you can get, and yet the 360 did its job.

Stabil is selling themselves short a bit, they could probably bump the time limit up to 18 months without an issue. I’m a firm believer in the vapor-based corrosion inhibiting technology, I’ve seen real-world steel tank comparisons; it works as advertised.

The tanks don’t rust, the lines don’t rust, the injectors don’t corrode. Stabilizing the fuel to keep it fresh and varnish-free is only half the solution, keeping the system from corroding is what makes or breaks long-term engine storage.

Have not had a need for a stabilizer before, but I had virtually stopped driving the first few months of the COVID-19 pandemic. After my battery died from lack of use, I checked the Web to see if I needed other non-driving maintenance and learned that gas gets old and begins to break down after a few months.

I had filled the tank over two months earlier, so I bought this, which treats 40 gallons. Since my subcompact holds 10 gallons, I would have gotten four uses out of it, but I already shared my bottle with several others who had also virtually stopped driving.

It went a long way! I have started to drive a bit more frequently in the past few weeks, mostly short trips (1-6 miles), so I can’t yet tell for sure if my mileage has been affected by using “old” gas, but it looks like it’s about the same as it was before I added the stabilizer.

So at this point, even though the gas in my tank had an opportunity to “age,” I believe the stabilizer has done its job well.

This product came recommended by a Certified Cummins Technician. The fuel pump pressure in my 2019 Ram 3500 Cummins is 25,000 lb per cubic inch. Also, the only lubrication the the fuel pump gets is the fuel.

If it has water or any air in the line, the pump can explode. Therefore, Diesel Sta-Bil is vital, which prevents the formation of condensation water.

I received a free sample of Sta-bil Diesel fuel treatment to try out & in return give an honest review on. After using I have to say the product works as advertised. I have used the “red” version (that most people recognize) of Sta-bil to treat the unleaded gas used in every small engine I’ve ever owned over the past 30yrs and it has ALWAYS worked like a charm.

The Stab-il Deisel treatment is no different. It keeps the deisel fuel in my new John Deere front end loader & backhoe (also 3 five gallon storage cans) from degrading during storage, which can be up to 12 to 14 months at times.

I will absolutely purchase this product for the life of my diesel engine.

Have purchased before. has kept my diesel good for as long as 3 years. might have worked for longer but I used up all the treated diesel I had. Absolutely recommend using this to extend diesel life and quality.

Need to add now that ethanol has ruined every small engine on the planet. I use it even when running non-ethanol fuel because I’ve found ethanol can still be present and has contaminated every pump, tank, and distribution system in the country.

Gas pumps are often mislabeled too. You will ruin any fuel system that is NOT designed for ethanol if you DON’T use this or a similar product.

I have been using Sta-Bil products for 20+ years. I add Sta-Bil to my gas cans when I fill them. I fill my four 5 gal. cans once a year. That lasts me for the year, unless we have a lot of snow, or I need to run my generator.

I have not had a fuel related problem since using Sta-Bil. I can now let my mower/snow blower gas sit in the can for a year and still use it without worry.

I have used STA-BIL ever since learning about it 20+ years ago for fogging the cylinders on my motorcycles. Once the motoring industry realized that Ethanol/gasoline mix was causing carburetor and engine damage I started using STA-BIL fuel stabilizer to wonderous effect.

After my motorcycles and lawn mower sat out in a non-climate controlled shed over a normal northeastern US winter, they started right up on first turn of the key. Treat your gas power equipment and vehicles right and add this to your gas tank regardless of the fact that you may use it or drive it every day.

It just works!.

I have to be honest here. I bought this for the bottle. I’m sure Sta-Bil is a nice product for keeping fuel useable over time. That company has been around a while. However, I prefer StarTron Enzyme fuel treatment.

Just my preference. With that said the StarTron bottle is not user friendly as far as portioning out doses to be put in the tank. Now for $5, I have a product that will get used up fast, is small, and I can refill with my preferred product and this bottle has a nice little portioning system so I don’t have to worry about it any more.

To bad you just can’t send the 20 cents for the bottle to be used as a dispenser.

Honestly, I didn’t notice a big price difference at JF from other sources, but I was there and I needed a fresh jug, and they had it on the shelf. This may be the only instance I’ve ever NOT seen something less expensive at HF, but it IS the standard for fuel storage additive.

I’ve been using Sta-Bil for decades. It goes in the cans every time without fail. AND it works. I’ve never had a problem with fuel stored this way even sitting for a year.

I’ve been using Sta-Bil in the gasoline which I keep on hand for my mower, pressure washer and emergency generators for as long as I can remember. Even the generators and pressure washer start immediately every time even though they’re only run once or twice each year.

I refresh all of the this gasoline every year, and with the added benefit of now using only ethanol-free fuel, I’m fairly certain that using this gasoline storage additive has contributed greatly to the equipment’s reliable performance.

stabil for non ethanol gas. will keep it for a year. so over winter in cars, yard equip (better to drain and empty tho). but for your daily driver. that uses ethanol gas. regular pump gas, use the ETHANOL treament type if gas will not be used, refreshed for 30 days or more.

especially in humid winter. Ethanol gas attracts moisture-humidity, but it also goes bad faster. 30-60 days. So use this stuff to prevenrt start up problems. in winter use some yellow labe HEET to get rid of water–from condensation in the tank.

Used this for 35 years, along with the 360 additive and always use Clear Gas or Ethanol Free fuel. Is amazing stuff and works for winter storage. I watch my neighbors equipment that does not work, motorcycles that are taken in every spring, and carburetion troubles when they don’t use this, and they use Ethanol 10% fuel.

Bad choices.

Nice upgrade from the regular spark plug! This was for the neighbors snow blower. They had their snow blower serviced professionally at a business here in Edmonton. The unit wouldn’t start. The gas was old so I pumped all the old fuel out of it.

put fresh fuel in it (and added this fuel stabilizer so it’ll start next winter) and after doing a Google search on their snowblower, discovered the “professional” business had install the wrong spark plug.

I got this spark plug and started the snow blower 1st pull!!!! Fuel Stabilizer will also help keep the fuel from going stale. Has a neat measuring chamber so you can add the right amount of fuel.

The mix is proprietary but based on the claims they make it’s probably some blend of mineral spirits, benzene, isopropyl alcohol, and red dye. Maybe some amines. Same stuff that’s already in most 91 fuels but more concentrated.

You could make this yourself for alot less money minus the red dye.

Great product, with fresh fuel I add the Red Sta-Bil Storage (each year) to keep fuel from varnishing. Also use Sta-Bil 360 year round to keep carbs clean and running right. When using these I do not have any trouble.

Highly recommended and always use Ethanol Free fuel and some Ethanol remover if needed.

I ordered 12 – 12 oz bottles of Fuel Stabilizer. I received 12 – 2. 6oz bottles! I contacted the Nashville(closest) distribution store, they researched and gave me a number in Oregon. I called and Taylor said they didn’t have 12oz bottles, so she sent 2.

6oz bottles. I finally explained to her that they were not the same, she said she woul check it out and call me back- she didn’t!! I called 3 days later and dealt with the manager and a week later received the correct order, he did not want the small bottles returned.

This is my second Craftsman lawn mower. The first one lasted many years so I wanted pretty much the same thing. Life my first one, this one is front propelled, easy to use, and the price was right. It had free delivery and the men who delivered it opened the box for me on the front lawn, I added the oil (included) and gas and immediately cut my lawn (to my neighbor’s relief).

I have accumulated many pieces of lawn and garden equipment over the years. Lawn mowers, leaf blowers, hedge clippers, chain saws, edgers, etc. I used to add Sta-Bil at the end of the season but somehow I either forgot to add it, missed the amount or added it to bad fuel.

As a result, every spring I had one or more issues – clean or replaced carbs, fuel tanks, and so on. I solved my problem with two things: I only buy pure gasoline – no ethanol – it’s available in most places and there is a smart phone app that can help you find a local station.

Second, I add Sta-Bil to the fuel can (and oil for the 2atrokes) immediately after I buy it so I never have to guess the right amount in the tool and the gas is always good-to-go. Yes it’s more expensive this way but I only use about 20 gallons of gas a year so it’s an expense I gladly accept to have zero problems.

I’ve done this for theee years now with 100% success. Spend a little money on the front end and you’ll thank yourself every time you pull the cord.

Previous bottles/formulation specifically said it was ok to use immediately not just for storage. Now i notice the label specifically says STORAGE only and shys away from anything else. I’m sure there was a reason for this.

We do a lot outdoor power sports and sometimes we burn all the gas out during a trip and sometimes we have some left over. My point is we always use Stabilizer when filling up tanks that way you are always covered should something happen and the machines have gas left in it.

Anyways my question is can we still use this new formulation in the same manner? or are we only to use it when we know for sure gas will sit for a period of time? Will it harm anything if we burn it immediately after dispensing it? Thanks.

Been using this product for. forever. Am told the “store brand” is the exact same thing. May be so, but I’ll not believe it until I can carefully examine the labels on both. At the same time. IN the store.

As for the Sta-Bil Fuel Stabilizer itself, it does ALL it claims to do. And more. I’ve kept fuel ‘fresh’ for more than a year with it. (May not be ‘recommended’, but I’ve done it. On multiple occasions.

) No need to do so any longer, however.

I have used Stability for years. It always seems to work & do the job it says it will. I use it in all my lawn equip. plus motorcycle. I never have a problem starting them up the following season after sitting for 6 months.

We own a classic car that needed some repairs so it moved very little inn7months. I knew this would happen so I added Sta-bil to the tank. When we finally started the car again she ran great. Now I use it regularly when I know it will sit for more than a month.

Sta-Bik works even better than I thought. Had a generator stored for almost two years and fuel inside tank did not separate. Started up after hurricane when power went out for 4 days with no problems.

Treat ALL stored fuel and machines with Sta-Bil and don’t worry!.

I like how the bottle has built in measuring so there is no guessing how much you put into your gas tank. I used it in my lawn mower and pressure washer at the end of the season. And come next spring they fired right up and ready to go to work.

I recommend using this in any gas powered tools or vehicles that will be stored for several months to avoid problems with starting.

I have been using the regular red Sta-Bil for many years with excellent results. Decided to try this 360 because I ran into a problem with my mini bike and portable generator. Both are made in “C” and the steel fuel tanks are both rusting inside and fouling the carbs.

I removed the tanks and soaked in EvapoRust for 3 days, so now they are nice and clean. Judging by my past experience with the regular version, I’m very confident this product will perform as advertised.

I can’t imagine a company with this good a reputation would risk selling a product that didn’t work. Of course, only time will tell, so if it doesn’t work to stop the rust, I will certainly modify this review.

I also noticed that the 360 now treats 5 gallons per ounce compared to 2. 5 gallons for the regular red version. After checking. I think (not positive) they have increased the red to 5 gallon treatment also – no re-formulation, just testing and studies have shown it’s effective at that dose.

Anyway the generator and mini bike are loaded up with 360 and running fine. Will check the tanks in 3 months and verify the results.

Take 10oz. to 25 gallons gasoline in your everyday vehicle. This will saturate to the bottom of your gas tank and you will feel the driving results. MPG and smooth power. Let the ethanol burn with this out the tailpipe where it belongs.

If you have lawn mowers-4 wheelers-utvs-generators that are ran on gas you need this product. it will save time -money and wear and tear on your equipment each year. Be sure close to the year when you will not be using these pieces of equipment that you run the last tank of fuel with the Sta-bil additive and then run them out.

add 1/2 oz to the tank and crank it or pull it and then you are winterized for the year and when you start it back up the carburetor will not be gummed up with the old gas and ethanol. Great product Try It.

Excellent product for eliminating engine problems

I use Sta-Bil in all of my fuels, I am a farmer that lives a long way from a gas station, I keep extra fuel in my storage for gererator, forklift, chain saws, when I need good fuel for the equiptment it is always ready, quick starts, etc.

I have been using Stabil products for years and never had any problems with fuel storage or use. However, I bought a Snapper SP80 Lawnmower last year and used the mower with fresh fuel and Stabil 360 in the fresh fuel.

After letting the mower sit for 3 months with the fuel and Stabil 360, the mower would not stay running. I changed the fuel, replaced the spark plug and air filter – mower would still not stay running.

Took mower to authorized Snapper repair center and was told that carburetor needed rebuilding due to “bad” fuel. None of my other gas operated tools (older) have any problems so I have to assume that the newer gas engines are not protected by Stabil.

Snapper told me it was probably the ethanol that caused the problem. Either way, the Stabil did not perform as expected and now I will have to look for alternate fuel stabilizers.

Ethanol Shield works great. Had it in my equipment for over 5 years now and no issues with ethanol or gas going bad. I totally recommend this stuff. The 24 oz is a great deal when compared to the 8 oz bottle.

Wonderful at stabilizing my 2-cycle gas for my chain saw. Saw starts every time now. So glad I saw a video on You Tube explaining it, saved me what would have been an expensive work order at my chain saw dealer.

The chemical keeps the ethanol locked in the fuel. With so many additives these days it’s good to find something that simply saves small engine’s from the damage caused by ethanol. This is my second bottle.

It was recommended by a shop that works on professional mowers. I’m very happy with it and recommend it to all I have discussed it with.

Arrived quickly. My only gripe is that one leaked and made a mess. Maybe they should tighten the lids better before packaging. Other than that it is the best price available.

This is the stuff you need to add to fuel in these “small” engines. to keep them running and performing right. I used to have all kinds of issues every year with the lawn tractor and snow blower. but since I’ve been adding this to the fuel NO problems.

This product came with my gas pressure washer. It was recommended by the manufacturer so I use it. Does what it says.

I recently inherited my parents 2001 Jeep with 50k miles. It was a summer vehicle that got limited use even in the summer. The engine had a rough idle that wouldn’t go away after spark plug replacement and several fuel additives.

I was just about ready to accept the fact that it would run this way. I added Marine Sta-Bil just before winter storage of the Jeep and sure enough the engine was smooth as glass in the spring. I don’t think my father ever added additive to the fuel and the ethanol likely attracted water in the fuel system.

I’m sold on this for every gas engine I own!!.

Long time user of Sta-Bil, but this stuff is the best. I actually use this in non-marine environments and use in my generator and seasonal equipment. I had the Carb apart because of a leaking seal and it was spotless inside no gum or varnish and this carb was 10 years old.

Always used with Sta-Bil Red and now the 360 Marine. Can’t say enough good stuff about their products. Always fires up first shot, no rebuild / cleaning of fuel components since I started using this 10 years ago.

Very impressed. Even with the fuel sitting in my generator all year long un-used!.

I’ve been using the regular red Sta-Bil for years and years now. I’ve got some gasoline in an engine-drive welder that’s been in there over two years and it still starts and runs fine! I know that’s NOT recommended, but it just goes to show how how effective this stuff really is.

I’m looking forward to even better things from Sta-Bil 360 Marine. I like the idea that the vapor fills the fuel system and helps prevent corrosion from water in the fuel. If this stuff is anywhere as effective as even their regular product, it’s going to be a hit!.

Ever tried to start your old motorcycle that has been ‘laid-up’ over the winter period when the petrol in the tank has ‘seperated’? Same with petrol garden tools. Petrol degrades and then the engines fail to start.

Using a good quality fuel stabilser such as this product will stop just that. I have been using this product for many years in my motorcycles garaged over the winter and they start straight away in the spring.

Absolute must in my opinion. Full tank of fuel, add half a small bottle and run the engine for a few minutes to get the additive through the system. Recommended.

Due to the current crisis my bike will be laid up for a while so I’ve added this to my tanks to prevent the fuel from going stale. It’s added at 1oz per gallon. It looks to be American so I’ve done it to US gallons (Don’t think it will make a lot of difference between UK & US as there’s not much in it) I’ve used it before in my mower and it ran fine after standing for 6 months.

The manufacturer says fuel can be stored up to 2 years with this additive. For the price it’s a lot cheaper than draining and refilling tanks and when the crisis is over I’ll be ready to go!.

This product stops your fuel going off which is great if you have a chainsaw that you dont use very often. It means that you dont have to drain out the fuel while not in use.
