Best Friend Of Wonder Woman (2024 Updated)

This absolutely interesting film is a fiery-tail of Amazons who ruled the Earth and defended the peace of those who of lived on a hidden isolated island free of strife. It’s only a matter of time, however, before Aries returns to scourge mankind.

When maturity arrives WW departs the safety of her island to fight for those who cannot defend themselves – the backdrop is World War 1. Great casting, powerful acting and both sensible and imaginative directorship bring all the films’ elements together for over-the-top story-telling.

It is a sage of something bigger than one’s self and a classical origin story of a compassionate hero. The story-line is accompanied by a powerful and dynamic sound-track that is coupled with Dolby ATMOS treatment which puts the audience in the center of the stage – it’s a tremendous and memorable view and a celebration of the strength, softness, and intelligence of women.

A must see again!.

I’ll be upfront: I haven’t been a fan of the recent DC movies. I have loved the Marvel movies. A lot of people are saying that Wonder Woman is on par with the average Marvel Movie, or even better than most- but I didn’t think so.

What it was, was “fine” which put it at the top of the recent DC pile, but pretty low in this reviewer’s comparison to the offerings from the Marvel movies. I thought it was “fine”, but not much better than Green Lantern, which I thought was “almost fine”.

The side characters are either forgettable or annoying, and the plot doesn’t really work. Gal Gadot does a fine job, and the cinematography and soundtrack is great. The finale is botched, and most of the action scenes don’t make much sense if you think about them.

But, hey, it’s FINE. Congrats DC.

Up to this point, I had watched all of the DCEU movies and have been entertained, but not particularly impressed. When I walked away from Batman V Superman, Wonder Woman was without a doubt the best part and I had hopes for her solo film.

After Suicide Squad, my hopes were lessened, but still present. After seeing the film twice I can confidently say it is one of, if not the greatest super hero movies ever made. Wonder Woman is a very focused and purposeful superhero movie.

There isn’t a single scene that feels like filler and you can tell Patty Jenkins knows exactly what kind of story she wants to tell. The film balances action and adventure with social commentary very well and is almost flawlessly executed.

The setting in 1918 puts us in a time when women were on the verge of revolution, and the presence of Diana clashing with patriarchal ideals is not only historically logical, but elevates the film to a modern allegory.

It’s one of those movies that follows superhero tropes and Joseph Campbell’s heroes journey, but keep things fresh so it never once feels derivative. Gal Gadot is absolutely fantastic and gives one of most sincere superhero performances ever captured on film.

She is able to communicate her characters thoughts and emotions without words, she has a powerful and commanding presence, she is elegant and intellectual, she is witty and clever. But at this point in her life she is also naive and does not understand the world as much as she thinks she does.

You can see a clear distinction between the way she carries herself in Batman V Superman compared to Wonder Woman, further showcasing Gal Gadot’s subtle and dedicated performance. In this movie, she is still relatively young and must learn a valuable lessons that mankind can be good and that evil does not come from only one source.

A very powerful and inspiring message, especially in these troubled times. It was very smart to not cast an American actress or make Gal change her accent. She is a Greek Goddess and should not be a “girl next door” type.

This is one of the most serendipitous casting decisions ever made, she was born to play Wonder Woman. I am not a big superhero fan, but the second time I saw this movie it effected me just like when I returned to see Star Wars or Lord of the Rings.

I found myself tearing up during a few scenes because we have never seen a woman with this kind of power on film before. After her scene in No Man’s Land, the audience in my theater clapped and then when the people in the movie clapped for her, the audience clapped AGAIN! Something that just doesn’t happen at the movies anymore, unless it’s a franchise with 40 years of films like Star Wars.

This movie is exactly what modern audiences are looking for and it is 100% satisfying. Wonder Women will go down in history with The Dark Knight and Spider-Man 2 as one of the best and most culturally significant superhero movies ever.

This is a game changer for the DCEU because they have now made a film better than EVERY MCU movie. The bar has been raised for all superhero studios.

As a long-time comic book reader and superhero enthusiast, I’d recommend this only for Wonder Woman completists or curiosity seekers. I’d caught this failed tv pilot back on TV back in the early 80s, so I knew what I was getting into beforehand.

The main problem is that the always-beautiful Cathy Lee Crosby is woefully miscast as “D” a. k. a. “Wonder Woman” (although what qualifies her as “Wonder” other than super agility and super kung fu chop, we’re not certain).

I’m not certain you can appreciate the performance if you’ve never seen the Lynda Carter series. (And if you’ve never seen the Lynda Carter series, you have no business watching this instead). All the problems that are corrected in the Lynda Carter series are evident here.

It’s also a little interesting that this pilot seems more geared toward the CBS super-spy revamp than the original WWII setting that premiered a year or so later. Despite its shortcomings and incredibly convoluted plot, it does benefit from the always-great Ricardo Montalban in full-on Blofeld/pre-Mr.

Roarke mode, and former Price is Right Model Anitra Ford is very interesting as a fallen-from-grace Amazon in a very short appearance that seems would’ve been touched on again if this version had gone to series (in fact, it’s the only thing I would’ve liked to have seen here revisited in the Lynda Carter series).

But the WB Archives presentation of this looks great, but again, only recommended for WW completists and those who’ve heard about this misfire and can take it in stride as a failed attempt at something done much better later on.

Most people hate this version because Cathy Lee Crosby was blonde and didn’t wear the traditionaly bathing suit costume Wonder Woman is usually depicted in. However, I found this movie to be extremely enjoyable when viewing it after reading the late 60’s/early 70’s “Mod Diana Prince Era” of the comic books, which is where they seemed to take a lot of influence for this movie.

Crosby isn’t Lynda Carter, but she’s extremely charming in her own way, and the chemistry between her and Steve Trevor is great. I was tickled by Diana’s bantering with villain lackey, George, in the film, especially when she throws some delicious shade at him.

I liked that she had a variety of different bracelets that could do different things. Her belt contains a rope that she can pull out and use. We also see a flashback of her leaving Paradise Island to go to Man’s World as Wonder Woman, which is well done.

This movie actually used non-caucasion Amazons, unlike the Lynda Carter series, which I appreciated. I also enjoyed Diana’s reference to her Invisible Plane to explain a “plothole” mystery. I really like the way she uses her brains to get her out of many of her problems.

You don’t see much of that nowadays. I also really liked the introduction of the Amazon-gone-bad, who would have been a really interesting re-occuring adversary, had this have gone to series. And Ricardo Montalban is simply charming, even if he is a bad guy.

I’m so glad this was released, and the print doesn’t look completely terrible.

I didn’t think twice when I saw this one was available and ordered it immediately. I don’t know why, but I just *loved* this movie as a kid in the early 1970s, and watched it every time it aired (which I seem to recall was quite often).

I never liked Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman (probably because I saw this one first) and never really got into comics all that much, but this movie just hit it right for me. Loved Montalban’s over-the-top nefarious criminal and Andrew Prine is an absolute delight as his gum-chewing quietly psycho henchman.

He chewed more scenery than gum but did a great job with both. Also, I never pass up an opportunity to look at the VERY lovely Anitra Ford. What a beauty! The film was just as I recalled it from childhood, including the catchy 70s synth theme music and the patriotic wipes (presumably for commercial breaks) that reminded me of “Love, American Style.

” The print looks to be in great condition and I’m thrilled to have access to this movie once again after so long. Like one of the other reviewers said, I never thought this one would make it to DVD.

I gave it 3 stars as I realize it is not Criterion material but it is 5 stars for sentimental value.

She finally arrived today on tracked postage and I love her. As my second Wonder Woman pop and my 32nd overall, she definitely deserves to be displayed as she (along with then rest of the anniversary set) are stunning.

She was packaged safely (with extra cushioning and protection from the rain) with no damage at all on the figure or the box and she looks beautiful with the rest of my collection!! To put all of this simply, she is a must have in any collection and will definitely be sent safely with lots of communication between you and pop in a box, I would definitely recommend her.

Bought this as a gift for my aunt. She loves WW and did not have this Funko in her collection. Super cure

So many to choose from, I was happy to come across Wonder Woman. My son wanted to give it to him mom for Mother’s Day

I read a lot of reviews, including those on Amazon since this set is an Amazon exclusive from Barbie/Mattel. The set originally debuted with a price tag of $180! It is the only special set that includes a likeness of Chris Pine as Steve Trevor.

The likenesses of the dolls are quite good and they did a great job with the clothing also. It keeps very in line with the movie Wonder Woman. The dolls are fully articulated (which Barbie has been doing with all the DC comics/movie based editions).

The presentation is the best I’ve ever seen for any doll, including those made by Sideshow. There is an outer box that looks like stone (it’s huge) with the WW logo and the legend printed on the back.

Enclosed inside is a double slip cased hard board box with fabric tabs on each side that slides open to reveal the beautiful diorama and the dolls reinacting the famous beach scene from the movie. The slip case also has the WW logo on one side and beautiful head shots of Gal Godot and Chris Pine on the other.

It is truly magnificent. These dolls, however, are NOT mean for little children. These are NOT toys, they are collectible works of art. I should also note that they actually went the extra mile on the Steve Trevor doll by giving him rooted hair instead of the sculpted hair foundon the Batman and Superman dolls.

This is really a nice touch and adds greatly to the overall look. Now that the price has come down, I can’t recommend this set highly enough for Wonder Woman and DC collectors.

I was really impressed with the packaging of this giftset. The outer Wonder Woman box was nice but I was very surprised that the next box. (two halves) was heavy duty and had pictures of the two characters.

The third box, the display box, was nice and had a picture in the background of why the soldier was on the island and lying in that position. I have no intention of removing the dolls and playing with them.

This set is very beautiful I don’t even want to take it out of the box. The box it self is really good quality and I love that its plastic and not cardboard which easily scratches and dents. Will be keeping this along with the gold armor one in my collection for many years to come.

I really like the male doll, very handsome and articulated. Like the accessories…sunglasses and watch. The so called necklace on the lady was a little bit of a disappointment.

My granddaughter love thirds wonder woman Steve Trevor doll set. She didn’t want to keep it as a collectible she wanted to play with it now. So I went to the store and bought another one so she could keep.

This toy is such a great idea, but it quickly disappointed my child. Young Princess Diana is very well made; her shoulders, elbows, hips and knees are all movable which my child loves because it allows her to pose the doll in different ways.

The doll comes with an arrow accessory, but it doesnt stay well on her hand and constantly falls. The horse is a great size and majestic looking, but it is stuck in one position. The horse has a plastic sticking up which holds young Diana in her different fighting positions.

My child at first thought this plastic was part of the packaging and wanted to remove it. Once I showed her what it does, she was excited to take both the horse and Diana on a battle. Switching positions on the plastic turned out to be quite difficult for her, the plastic doesn’t move with ease and requires a bit of strength because it tends to get stuck.

Even more disappointing for her, Diana often fell from the plastic when switching position. My child still loves this doll and plays with it often with her other dolls, but has little desire to use the horse along with it.

My daughter adores Wonder Woman, and she was thrilled to find a super hero doll that isn’t an adult. She said, “Mom, she’s a kid like me!” The set is visually stunning. Young Diana has cute little freckles and great attention to detail in her face and outfit.

The horse is beautiful, with a glossy mane, cool war paint, and nice accessories. I’m impressed with the little plastic stand that holds Diana on the horse: it really does hold her in, and all three positions (standing, sitting, and leaning sideways) were easily achievable by my daughter without my help.

The doll is articulated at the knees, although I wish her elbows could bend as well. All in all, this is a great set! Beautiful doll, beautiful horse, nice accessories, and everything works the way it is designed to.

My daughter is in love with this young Diana and horse set.

I picked this out for my six year old daughter who loves horses. I was totally unfamiliar with the movie as was my daughter. That being said, my daughter loves all the different ways she can play with the doll.

She loves the warrior markings that make this horse unique. She loves how shiny and smooth the horse’s mane and tail are, and I love how easy the different positions on the horse are, so my daughter doesn’t constantly need my help with it.

I don’t usually love plastic toys, however this toy is very well made with a thick plastic vs junky stuff used in other toys. It’s also a little bit bigger than I expected, which is great. The only thing my daughter doesn’t like about it is how difficult it is to get the dolls gladiator shoes off and on, but that’s really not a huge deal.

All in all this is a fantastic toy,.

I would have given the series a total 5 star rating, but the rating is for the way the DVDs are put together. This is NOT, I repeat NOT, the way the original TV series aired back in the 1970s. Missing is the original 1975 TV movie – The New, Original Wonder Woman which is deliberately labeled as the same film on this DVD, but instead is actually the revised 1976 pilot retitled as Wonder Woman that aired around 14th April 1976 before the two TV specials.

The pilot on this DVD does show the revised introduction that replaces the title from the 1975 movie and the new ‘lasso twirl’ that replaced the bullet deflecting animation. Some episodes were originally longer with ‘stings’ of what you are about to see etc, but it is amazing that while no attention to correct mistakes that were made, attention seemed given to showcase this show in a slap dash fashion for the DVD.

Some Season 3 introductions are out of sync, and some restorations are not from the best prints that they had available, leaving film tears when it could have been pristine. Unfortunately there is not a decent version to compare so you have no choice but to get this set for what it is.

Overall the series is great, but wish Warner would take some care and respect to a once popular series.

This sophisticated DVD box set is worth its weight in GLOD. Bracelets and Lassos that is. Diana and all her hot fashion forward pieces are truly the reason I wanted to be Wonder Woman! They she had two identities! Every time my crew of other kids played superheroes, I was always Wonder Woman.

She brings out my 11yr old BOY IN EVERY EPISODE!! Now being a grown MAN I get to understand and appreciate the innuendos, and bust up every time she twirls into WW and I can recall twirling too!.

Lynda Carter is awesome as Wonder Woman she’s the one and only. The guest star actors on the show are surprising, because some of them went on to make big movies. The messages Wonder Woman sends are positive re-inforcement,and female empowerment.

Look no futher than Wonder Woman.

Finishs my collection

I’ve seen every single one of these DC Animated movies since the very first one (Superman / Doomsday) and they all exhibit the same strengths and weaknesses. They are all good comic book stories brought to life through music, animation and vocal delivery – and on that front they are good enough.

No other stable of superhero characters have been able to continue output as consistently or as long as DC has. Marvel started this but quickly lost interest, restarting and stopping again over the years.

Hellboy has had a few animated movies come out. DC has consistently produced 2-4 every single year for the decade plus. It is – quite frankly – an impressive work in its collection and ANY comic book fan should support and enjoy this body of work.

Individually, though, the movies are not as strong. The main issue is that the stories are simply too complex and involved for the budgeted runtimes of 75-85 minutes. As a result, these are heavily plot-driven stories and do not utilize effective storytelling techniques as a whole.

In essence, there is simply too much being crammed in and the basic tenet of storytelling is rarely achieved well. Wonder Woman Bloodlines is no different. It is decent and enjoyable entertainment for its runtime, but doesn’t seek to want to rise above that.

The animation is not luxurious, but that’s ok. The main issue is the lack of emotional connection one makes with the characters. If you have a connection, it’s because you brought it with you – the movie didn’t establish it.

The characters are simply moving through the complex plot. Who has the primary problem to be solved? Is it Diana? Is it Steve Trevor? the members of Villainy, Inc (cute name. lol). Who knows? the plot should be a derivative of that problem and in fiction things are either included for 1) to solve a problem, something the audience needs to know or 2) world building to enhance context of the primary plot The issue truly seems to be the runtime, as the creators HAVE demonstrated that they can provide both elements of storytelling in other, more effective works of fiction they have produced.

It seems that these DC animated films are produced on a strict budget, with a specific runtime ($/minute of film) and they try to achieve both elements of storytelling within the runtime and do neither well.

There is little impetus to change at this point in the DC line. nearly 40 movies in you KNOW what you’re getting. You either like it and support it or you don’t. So. why the five stars? Because this movie is allowing my 7 year old self to come out and enjoy some awesome comic book action with characters I grew up with when I’m in my late forties.

SImply put, it is what it is and I love it for that. If you are a comic fan, these movies will not be responsible for blazing new trails but they are traditionally animated movies (in a time when those are scarce) coming out 3-4 times a year that feature our favorite comic book characters.

Simply put, let’s love it for what it is rather than destroy it for what it isn’t. Hence the five stars. Oh. and the short on Death is amazing. That should be seriously considered for an oscar. it’s probably too long at 22 minutes but.

wow. This product would almost be worth it just for that alone (it’s worth it for the whole package. lol).

I have read some negative reviews for this movie. Now to be honest when it comes to these DC animated movies I am fairly easy to please. Growing up I was a fan of all superhero animated shows, so to see my favorite stories played out in animated form gives me a lot of pleasure.

Now I will not say this is the best DC movie so far, it is definitely not as bad as some people made it out to be. It has an enjoyable story good characters and definitely entertaining. I only gave it four stars because the storyline was a bit simplistic but again, I am a sucker for superhero animated TV shows and movies.

And if you’re anything like me I think you’ll enjoy this.

Although DC can’t seem to find its footing at the box office (the latest Joker film aside), these animated films that have been coming out over the past few years have been excellent and Wonder Woman: Bloodlines is the latest in these.

A warning the this is not for children or people who aren’t into bloody fight scenes. But if you love DC comics, animated movies and great story lines, this movie (and its DC animated brethren) are for you.

As a bonus, there are a few Batman: The Brave and the Bold cartoons on this as well. I can’t wait for the next DC animated movie.

Highly detailed, articulated like an expensive BJD, and beautiful! Looks just like her character from the movie! Now I just need one that resembles the original Wonder Woman. 🙂 Update: After finally removing her from the box, i was disappointed to find that her outfit is not removable.

For the price i expected to be able to swap her outfit if i so desired.

Saw this in a store but when I went back it was gone so I looked to buy at a reasonable price on eBay. Glad I did!!! Pasted all my expectations and it was better in person than what was shown in the pictures.

This doll has quite a bit of articulation and he’s much more of a heroic build than the regular ken dolls. I wish he had alternate hands, as a fist works for a hero, but if you’re using this figure for dioramas and the like, the fists are a little “angry” looking.

Highly recommended.

This is a great movie on for many reasons as the true origins of Wonder Woman are revealed from past and current comic books as the character comes to life in her very own movie. You get to know about her and what she is about.

Gal Gadot is both stunning and excellent in her own right bringing her own military experience to the character as she too is a warrior from the IDF. Director Patty Jenkins did a great job in directing this epic film which provides plenty of character development as well as great action and fight scenes to being inspirational all in one film.

This DVD set is an excellent value. This set features two disks. One is the film itself; the other features a number of extras, documentary shorts that tell us about different aspects of the film. The film itself is great.

I first saw it at the theatre on opening day, and I knew I had to have it on disk. This set is the lowest price and best value I’ve seen so far.

I eagerly awaited this movie and I was NOT disappointed!! Plenty of Action, Superb Special Effects, Suspense, Witty Dialogue, Great Music Score, and the ending was a Surprise!! Gal Gadot was OUTSTANDING and she brought her character to life! If you want all these things I listed above in a movie, this is it!! (Plus the Woman are VERY easy on the eyes!) I give it 5 out of 5!.

Absolutely love this Pop! I have most of the WW80 series now and I can honestly say that every one of them has details that make each item ‘pop’ – from 50s Diana’s rosy cheeks and flowing hair to White Lantern Diana’s epic pose, every pop in this series has features and details that even the least passionate of WW’s fandom will love!.

Arrived with a creased in the bottom of the left corner. That same side the box has an indentation. Better protection with this pops it’s the key.

This is an amazing looking pop of an iconic Simpsons character. The color’s are nice and original and the pop is well made. An important pop for a Simpsons pop collector.

Funko did a great job of adapting the characters of the Wonder Woman film to a entertaining format. Sturdy, well made, and at a price point that makes it affordable. The detail is great also. Its easy to see the character as it walks through the streets of WWI London.

Great representation of fan-favourite Etta Candy with Diana’s sword and shield, she’s a lovely addition to the incredible range of Wonder Woman Pops.

My seven year old granddaughter loved this item. She dressed up as Wonder Woman last Halloween, so this was a perfect birthday gift as she turned seven years old. She likes it!

I have a friend that loves Wonder woman stuff. And I love Jim Shore. I never thought the 2 would come together.

First of all, let’s be clear that this review is strictly regarding the DVD – the film gets 5+ stars! I received the DVD the day it was released, which was great. Unfortunately it looks nothing like the item pictured here.

The actual DVD cover is the same as the theatrical poster, with Diana kneeling on the beach with shield and sword. There’s also nothing “exclusive” about it. In fact, the DVD only comes with the film — no behind-the-scenes/special features, etc.

To be fair, the item description didn’t promise any special features, but you’d think something labeled as “exclusive” would at least include behind-the-scenes content. Overall, it’s fine if you just want to watch the movie, but definitely a little bit disappointing as what I received in the mail is not exactly what I expected.

This Walmart exclusive looks like seconds sold at the dollar store. So,if you are buying sight unseen, perhaps having it mailed, my advise would be to pass on this one. I didn’t look at the reviews before buying, but there is nothing exclusive about this; everything about it looks and feels cheaply made, not something you want in your collection.

It’s one of those cheap dvds made in Mexico. Spend a little more and get a better product. I will be returning.

Couldn’t have been better. Didn’t rely solely on SFX, and featured an awesome super hero and interesting story as well. Wal-Mart delivered it several days earlier than originally anticipated. Great job.

I ended up buying 6 of these 3 for my daughters, 2 for my sisters and 1 for myself. I tell my daughters they are Wonder Woman to me, my mom was Wonder Woman and my sisters and I try to be just like her.

She passed away in 2020 so when I saw this itty bitty I knew it would be perfect for these special ladies. I reminded them that they are awesome and if they are in doubt that they should twirl. They all loved their itty bitty Wonder Woman.

It is beautiful and very detailed.

We love them and get new ones to add to the collection. It’s great they have so many to choose from. All the super heros, to the princesses. all are so cute! They are perfect size and it’s easy to have more than one, because they don’t take up much space.

This Diana’s my favorite design in the WW84 series. Her clothes are exquisite and her lasso accessory is such a great detail. Her hair is also nice to the touch. Beautifully made! I got a few to keep and give out as gifts.
