20 Best Freshwater Fish To Grill (2023 Updated)

These are the nicest cooking tools I’ve ever used. They are perfect. All of my kitchen stuff is toadfish. From oyster knives to my grill set to my rocks glasses to koozies. I love how they help the environment too.

They are worth the money just for that reason. It’s even better because they’re awesome!.

This set is a good quality build and handles real well in use. Convenient to travel with to beach or on the boat. This is second set we bought and gifted it our daughter and husband they love it. Several buys from have not disappointed.

It lights itself on fire easily, once hot you can’t open it easily without burning yourself and the latch often catches so you must have a pliers in hand to turn it. Seems to prefer to burn food. Parts corrode easily, hard to clean, very expensive replacement parts, grill lifts out easily which is a problem when turning meats.

Even the cover which blew off almost immediately is outrageously expensive.

I just bought this grill at the last 1 day sale and what a deal ! With the sale price and the Gold certificates I could not pass it up. I had researched grills for the boat a good bit and this grill has none of the 3 popular negatives I had seen on the rectangular grill which are 1) The wind puts it out.

not any more. This grill has a baffle behind the air intakes and the flavor bar further protects the burner. Long story short we were grilling out of the water in 8-12 knot wind yesterday and had beautiful evenly cooked steaks.

2) The mount is not solid. Follow simple instructions, and it’s perfectly stable and solid. The mount bolts need to face you for the grill to balance correctly. 3) The propane bottle is not secure. Again, follow simple instructions and it’s solid.

The groove on the regulator pin tube has to engage in the little pin in the grill side tube. If you want to be sure the bottle cannot rotate while sailing, a $2. 00 bungee keeps it tight on the pulpit.

This grill is some of the best money I have spent on my boat.

We use the Magma Cabo grill both on the boat and for tailgating. Works perfectly for both applications. Lights quickly/easily with a long snout lighter and the adjustable dial allows a pretty broad range on temeratures.

On low heat the surface temp was 425 deg F / high 590 deg F according to my kingsford direct heat gauge. I was able to cook hamburgers, hotdogs and brats for a party of 10 during a recent tailgate. Was even able to use a medium pan atop the stainless grate to saute peppers, onions, garlic and white wine into an awesome brat topper.

For cooking fish the spacing and tendency of fillets to flake might make cooking directly atop the grate tricky so using a grill basket is recommended. Used a common 1 lb propane bottle and ran it for three hours on high and it used about 70% of the bottle.

We also plan on using this grill on our Bahamas trip this year. We’ll be island hopping and grilling fresh seafood every evening on this little gem.

This box has everything I need to improve my bass fishing. The lures are top of the line and effective. One trip on the last warm day resulted in several large bass and a bunch of smaller ones. Highly recommend.

Used this grill on a few trips late summer early fall. Things I liked: Adjustable height, solid surface, compact and light Fire cooking can be a challenge in the backcountry and this just made it a ton easier! Easy to set up, big enough for 2 people and it is so compact that brining is along made it a no brainer.

Stoves are great, but cooking on fire is just my preference when I can.

This grill is easy to clean, easy to set up and can work anywhere. It’s light weight and doesn’t take up too much room in the backpack. Hoping for many years of use as it is made of titanium.

This thing is sleek. Haven’t had a chance to use it yet but it oozes quality and you just have to appreciate the design that went into it. It’s so nice I don’t wanna use it.

This fish ‘bowl’ is so unique and was the perfect design for our grandson who loves to build our-of-the-norm structures. When he saw this he got so excited and said, ‘That’s MY fish bowl. Just how I would make it.

” He loves the different views to watch his fish the various ‘windows’ of this bowl offer. He received it as a Christmas gift and the uniqueness of it has not worn off like so many gifts can. He loves it and we are very please with the quality of this product.

This small, sterile environment isn’t appropriate for any fish. Keeping even a beta in this would be cruel. If you want to use a living thing as decor, get a plant.

I had my betta in a vase and although he seemed happy I wanted him to be more comfortable. Since getting the “fish condo” it is a pleasure to see him exploring and looking through each window for me.

This was a really good idea and I’m glad I got it. Hopefully he continues to be happy and live a long life.

Truly cheap China junk nothing good about this product cheap, cheap total waste of money could not even give it a one star!!!

I have been trying to find a wet food for my finicky feline. She was eating Wellness then started leaving half of it in the bowl. Then I tried American Journey pâté thinking she’d like that. After a week it was back to dumping 3/4 of her meal in the garbage.

I had bought the Tiki Cat wet treats and they must contain kitty crack as she greedily slurps them up. I thought maybe she would do the same with Tiki’s canned food. So I went to the pet store to pick up a few cans of Tiki Cat for kitty to try.

First up was the chicken in consommé. It contains pieces of shredded chicken in light broth. Almost looks like human food, but I am not going to test it to confirm! No brown mush here! I placed out the bowl of food and held my breath in anticipation — will she eat it? Not only did she eat it, she ate up all the food in the bowl! For the first time in months she cleaned the bowl in less than 5 minutes! I was so grateful that I wasn’t throwing out food.

Plus, the ingredients are good with no by products or fillers so I feel good feeding it to my fur baby. THANK YOU TIKI CAT!!.

Okay, Tiki Cat is so much fun! “I” (it’s not for me, I know) was hooked the moment I saw that fantastic colorful, fun label! THEN, I started to read. I couldn’t decide what to get Nala! I looked for digestion found Tummy Topper, a pumpkin puree you put on top of their food.

I grabbed that a can of the Ahi Tuna w/ Tiger Prawns. That night we opened the can there were whole “little” shrimps sitting right on top! The cutest little things! She loved it! Their stuff is so fun! Lots of protein high in moisture! LOADED with goodies.

They have different ‘lines’ so to speak. ‘After Dark’ It has nutrients-dense organ meats-Some include:Rabbit Chicken Liver Pate’, Chicken Quail Egg in Broth, Venison Beef Liver Pate’. Then the ‘Grill’ is high protein real fish:Sardines Lobster in Broth, Ahi Tina Crab in Broth.

Other ‘Lines’ include: ‘Aloha Friends’. ‘Luau’, ‘Broths’, ‘Born Carnivore’, ‘Compliments’ more!.

We are trying to help a stray cat which has been hanging around our neighborhood. We have tried different food and her being a stray, she would eat anything. But just because she is working towards becoming a house cat, she shouldn’t have to eat yucky food.

Imagine my surprise when I opened the first cans of this and its shredded chicken and actually one of the recipe’s contains hard boiled quail egg halves. Needless to say, Keema loves the food. Given the choice between this brand and any other brand, she goes with the Tiki Cat every time.

I have not seen the “grey chicken” which some have mentioned. Every can has been something one might be served in a fancy restaurant as an appetizer. I am on the 3rd case of this and every can has been perfect.

It doesn’t smell like the paste cat food. It smells like “real food” which is also how it appears. There are less expensive foods around, but this brand certainly appears to be quality from what I have seen.

We have now purchased this stray cat a heated cat house and premium food. Her visits are becoming more and more regular. She is probably thinking “Why go anywhere else and these people sure have good taste”.

Life as a stray has to be tough and scary. Hopefully, we can gain her trust and give her a better life where she is safe and hopefully happy. The food sure seems to have gotten her attention.

Our rescue Weimaraner Pitbull mix pup, who was extremely emaciated, has done extremely well on this food. She is now up to a healthy weight and maintaining eating Dr Gary’s Best Breed. Her skin, coat and teeth are very healthy.

Most notably, her coat is soft and shiny, looks and feels like velvet. Our vet was unfamiliar with the brand and recommended we switch to Science Diet, which we did not do because of bad experiences with SD in the past.

We stayed with the recommendation of the rescue we got our sweet pup from, and so glad we did. I would highly recommend this food to anyone looking for an excellent quality food. Our pup loves it and gives Dr.

Gary’s a 5 paw rating!.

We have a 13 year old dog with allergies and had been using grain free food for years. We went to a new Vet and they told us that using grain free food was actually bad for dogs hearts. We actually hadn’t seen alot of changes with the grain free and his allergies, so we were willing to try something new.

The Vet told us it’s usually the beef or chicken, not the grain so we switched to the Salmon based food. Within 2 weeks our dogs are already seeing better results, our senior dog is having less ear build up than he has in years.

He isn’t shaking and itching all the time and isn’t miserable with his allergies. We love Dr. Gary’s food and this just made it that much better for our fur babies!.

When our medium golden doodle was 7 months old, he began to develop periodic diarrhea and would go through bouts of loose stools. He was eating Fromm with chicken for puppies. Switched to Purina Pro Plan, first with chicken then with salmon, but really did no good.

Our vet recommended Royal Canin and Science Diet. When I went to buy some, a knowledgeable locally-operated pet store owner suggested that we try Dr. Gary’s Coldwater Recipe (new name for Salmon with vegetables).

During the last 2 months, our guy has been fine. Zero digestive issues, firm stools, and he loves the food. I would highly recommend Dr. Gary’s – food produced by a family company in Ohio using quality ingredients and no garbage fillers.

At first we were excited, there was only two dead fish in the order of 96. We added the guppies to an already established aquarium with fancy guppies and tetras. A week later there is 6 guppies remaining of the 96 that we ordered, while the fish that were in the aquarium are still going strong.

I’ve been feeding my dog for years now with Pacifica. Today, by accident, started looking closer to the ingredients list on my latest purchase of Acana Pacifica. My latest bag is the new recipe-version, but in the front they claim, that it’s just a new look, well, it’s not! I was shocked! I learned, that the recipe has been changed, some what drastical! Not only have they switched out some of the ingredients, they have also started adding more additives.

Next, they claim to be grainfree, but suddenly they write, with very small letters, that the food is produced in a facility that also processes grains. Wich basically means, that they cannot promise 100%, that the food is grainfree! And suddenly it make sense, why my dogs poop have changed in consistensy after I opened the newest bag.

And on top of that, the price just recently increased by 25%!!! I would happily had paid the price, but since the product has been changed, and the quality is lowering. One of the reasons I chose Acana is the low amount of additives and no use of meal, both have changed now.

I’m seriously considering switching to something different.

I bought this product about 2 month’s ago. My Pit Bull has ridiculous allergies! I did the allergy test at the vet and they assumed it was her food as all lab results came back with no issues. I was basically told to try a new food and wait 2wks, and to keep doing that until we find a winner.

I just started making her food myself, but that’s extremely time consuming! I came across this brand at my local Petco marked 1/2 off due to the package change! I purchased it, and she LOVED it! She’s never excited for dog food, and ate the minimum necessary to survive (lol, seemed that way to me).

I noticed a change after about a week! Her patches started to fill in (she used to have to wear a shirt because her skin condition was SO BAD!). I returned to purchase the food at the full retail, and I can honestly say after one month her coat is FULL and SHINY!!! Totally worth the price and I won’t feed her anything else! Yes, I’ve tried all the expensive big name brands and none worked! I’m so happy I stopped at that Petco 2 months ago!! My Queen is excited to get her food now, and the healthy skin is the ultimate payoff!!! I wish I had taken a before and after picture, but I honestly didn’t think it would work :(.

She no longer licks her paws like a crazy dog either!.

A year ago, we received an AKC registered 6 week old chocolate lab puppy. As time pasted buy and she was getting a little bigger. She kept getting ear infections one right after the other. I was constantly taking her to the vet, getting medication and the price kept adding up.

After really getting exhausted from all the steps in getting her ear cleared I decided to do a lot of research on where the yeast infections are cause by or from. Upon all my research I read that if dog food has a lot of Carbs it can cause yeast infections in dog’s ears and to also stay away from tapioca which is also a carb.

Long story short. I came across Acana Puppy. I started my girl on Acana in October 2021 in hopes this would help reduce her yeast infections in her ear. Yesterday I had to take her for her regular check up.

The vet told me that she didn’t have not one speck of an ear infections. She was good to go and she was health as a horse. I was sooooo happy to hear the good news. She isn’t suffering anymore. Thank you so much for making such an amazing product.

I know also have my beagle on Meadowland. I will forever be loyal to Acana dog food products. Thank you so very much for making wonderful products.

So I have 5 cats, 1 year to 14 years, and all of them are picky eaters besides one. I’ve fed them Fancy Feast and Purina Friskies Pate in rotation their whole lives, until recently they stopped eating both.

I’ve been searching high and low for a food, any food they will be content with. I’ve ordered just about every wet food on the market, with no success. I placed an order the day before yesterday, for this Weruva grilled Tilapia and 4 other different brands; praying they at least like one of them.

My Chewy package just came and I about broke my neck opening the box so they could try them out. I opened every brand/flavor, set them out, and let my babies decide for themselves. All 5 went for the Weruva!! I cannot believe it.

I proceeded to open more so they could all have their own plate; they all licked their plates clean! I pray Weruva never changes their formula like some other brands often do, so my kitties can be happy and healthy for the rest of their lives.

Thank you Weruva, and thank you Chewy for a 10 star experience. 10 paws from my kitties as well, literally.

I definitely recommend this brand overall: the food is clearly real bits of fish and good quality. However, Asian Fusion is the one flavor they just refuse to eat. They love every other flavor in the seafood variety pack but they will go hungry before they will eat Asian Fusion.

We even tried mixing it in with one of the flavors they like and they just looked at us like we were jerks(!) I even tried offloading it on our cat sitter, but her cats won’t touch it, either. But I definitely recommend this brand.

We had been serving them cheaper grocery store brands–but once they got a taste of Weruva, we can’t get them to eat anything else. They’re real gravy lovers, so I usually mix a bit of warm water with it, especially when it’s been stored in the fridge.

This helps them stay hydrated and they will lick up every last bit of the soup. (And look adorable licking their lips afterwards!).

My cat has a food allergy (poultry) and the other is a picky eater. This and one other canned food by the same company are all they can agree on. For the price, you’d think they’d have a can that is easier to open.

I usually need a spoon to lift the ring up. On top of that, sometimes I can’t even pull the lid all the way off because it is bound so tight! For reference, I’m a pretty strong person with decent dexterity.

I also don’t want to use so much force that I fling stinky cat food all over my kitchen. But then, and this is the most time consuming part for me, the chunks of meat are unrealistically large. I can’t imagine a cat actually eating them as is.

So I have to spend another ten minutes chopping and mushing up the food so they’ll actually be able to eat it. You’d think they could afford to chop the dang food up themselves so that I don’t have to spend so long just to feed my cats a couple of cans of cat food.

I’m happy they can agree on the food now, but I’m always looking for a replacement so that I’ll have an easier experience.

The big bottle. This is what you need to keep up with all your water changes. It really is safe. Ive doubled and trippled the recommended dose. With no issuse at all. Just add tap water in a bucket, put in your needed dose, wait one hour and your all set to add your new water to your tank.

Frequent partial water changes solves so many problems in your tank. This may not be the greatest water conditioner out there. But defenetly enough to get the job done.

As others have pointed out-THIS IS NOT A WATER CONDITIONER. It does not remove chlorine from new tap water, like a water conditioner does. I use this weekly, as stated on the label, to balance the aquarium water’s PH.

I’ve got a 38 gallon with large fancy fantail goldfish. They eat, pee and poop a lot. I was having an ammonia problem. Easy Balance Plus helps to eliminate waste, uneaten food, and the ammonia-reduces nitrates & phosphates.

Regulates ideal PH. With weekly Easy Balance use, and recommended aeration & proper filtering, frequent water changes are reduced (once every 6 months). I’ve been using it to rid the tank of ammonia.

After 2 months of use, my fish are happy and thriving. No ammonia issue! Reducing water changes will be an added plus!.

I use this product with every single water change and every time I replace water due to evaporation or whenever I clean my aquarium. It’s a great product that I cannot live without when taking care of my beloved Betta fish – Finley.

It dechlorinates the water and makes it perfectly safe for my Betta. It is a very good product and it’s a great price and available at my local shopping center.

I bought this for my sister for Christmas. She loved it. It hold a good amount of food. The only issue she had was she did not tighten the lid tight enough so it opened up when it was flipped. But then she tightened it tighter and she had no further issues!.

I do not like the clasp on this thing, handle is offset instead of straight from middle of basket. makes shutting lid of my gas grill difficult when i flip the basket. Wish I had seen the one that my favorite Texas grocery store offered before I bought this thing which is half the price and easier to use.

Gonna give this to Goodwill while my hubby is away!.

This grill basket is perfect for vegetables, shrimp, and anything that you don’t want to put on the grill directly! I used it for asparagus, corn, shrimp, and salmon. Nothing stuck to the basket as it is non stick.

The long handle was great so that you don’t get burned trying to move it around or take it off of the grill. The food came out tender with no hot or cold spots. Did not need aluminum foil to wrap the food in as the basket holds it all without falling through! This basket is the best accessory for any grill!.

Very similar if not the same as the Bubba knives at a fraction of the price. Great kit for the money. Made short work of crappie, perch, and big catfish. There are better fillet knives but not at this price point.

I have been using these fillet knives for a couple months now. I have feilleted every thing from yellow perch to salmon. These are excellent knives. The sharpener that comes with the kit is excellent at keeping them sharp as razors.

I use the knives to trim briskets too for a good low and slow dinner.

Bought this fish fillet knife set for our grandson. He is delighted! And he has used it twice already in Michigan.

THIS IS JUST ABOUT AS GOOD AS IT CAN GET WITH A TABLETOP ELECTRIC GRILL. It is not a substitute for a large-surface electric (i. e GF Mean Lean etc. ) grill and certainly not for charcoal/gas grills.

And it does not do combination foods (stuffed pork chops come to mind) well because of the differences in cooking times for the individual ingredients and, in the case of the stuffed chops, the thickness of the expanded chops.

This is my second Rocket Grill and it is much improved over the “original” RG 2000. This newer version is sturdily built (outside and in) and all the buttons and dials work well and have a solid feel to them.

The cooking times are more art than science but not unworkable if you think of them as suggestions/starting points for your own estimations for your chosen food item. Of course, CLEANUP IS A SNAP (although I rue the day when a bag inside the machine leaks or breaks.

How would one ever cleanup that mess?). A semi-technical point: There is no difference between the numbered models: The number (12,24,72 e. g. ) refers to the quantity of bags included with the marketed machine.

Some marketing packages come with non-metallic tongs but these are not necessary to effectively use the grill. I have also seen a black version of this grill but it seems to be a rarity. The grill-guide wheel is a neat feature so look for it as an included item in whichever machine package you are interested.

The official advice is to warm the machine up first and not to reuse the bags. But for simple foods, like a grilled cheese sandwich, I have cooked the sandwich during the warm-up period and have reused the same bag for similarly light jobs three times.

Beyond that, I have not stretched my luck. Reuse-able teflon coated bags are available (not from the RG people) but I have no experience with them. IN SHORT, a well built, well designed, functional, convenient, tabletop electric grill that would be practical for one or two servings/persons for most types of food; more servings/persons if you primarily use it for wurst-type products or typically eat reduced portion sizes.

And it is also a little bit FUN. Happy Grilling!.

This is the best of one of these type gadgets I have ever purchased. On first thought, you have to use parchment bags each time it is used, but Since there is no mess at all, there is no clean up. The parchment bag holds all of the excess juices.

The time it saves on clean up is worth every penny I pay for the bags. The bags are only about 30 cents each and you can find them here on ebay. Now for the best part. Everything I have cooked in it comes out GREAT!! I have cooked burgers, chicken breasts, pork chops, hot dogs, frozen vegetables, Panini sandwiches in 3 1/2 minutes, and one of the best, frozen Tilapia in 6 minutes.

It sears the grill marks in with the hot Teflon plates that come together, which presses on the food. It is great for two people. You can cook two sandwiches at a time, even with large oval slice bread.

Easy to use. Very fast. Makes delicious food. It has become a primary kitchen utensil. I use it several times a week for healthy cooking. I can’t say enough, I’m so impressed.

I use this grill year round. I own THREE of them right now because if something happens to my grill I have to have another one I can’t be without it! It does beautiful grilled chicken with or without a miranaide, it does a fantastic steak in less than 5 minutes! Hamburgers are amazing but don’t cook them longer than 3 minutes or you’ll have dry tough hamburgers! I love it uses parchment bags that you just toss out! NO clean up and the fat drains away into the bottom of the bag.

It just doesn’t get any better than this! Pitch out those george foreman grills and get a rocket grill!.

I am kind of shocked at seeing any bad reviews about this item. I love, love, love these tuna steaks! I used to buy my tuna fresh from an asian seafood market but when I found these, they were just as good! I am by no means an aficionado of seafood, but I love sushi and love fresh tuna and I eat it often.

I love to lightly sear these with a little seasoning on the outside and they can’t be beat. I know some people think sushi and fresh/frozen fish isn’t good unless you pay a lot of money for it. I believe if you serve these the right way, they stand up to any moderatly priced tuna steaks you can find.

I am glad that not everyone likes them because sometimes they are hard to find. They recently re-appeared after not being able to find them for a few months. Hopefully they are back to stay for awhile.

Surprised with the bad reviews. This is the best frozen tuna steaks I have used. Thaws well and tastes great cooked rare. Much better than their pink salmon which I would not recommend to anyone.

I’ve had ahi tuna in various restaurants, and let me say that this particular brand is extremely fishy even when cooked. It smells fishy and is not fresh. I’m afraid to eat the rest of it. Ahi tuna is a milder tuna.

and no fresh fish (even if flash frozen) should smell like a fisherman’s boat. I wish I had never bought this. I’ll be making sure my tuna is sushi grade from now on. This was just horrendous.

Pretty good, for a frozen whitefish. A lot of this kind of frozen fish has a horrible strong fishy taste and odor, and this does not. The flip side being that there isn’t very much flavor at all, and the texture is only okay.

I would not serve it on its own, but it’s well-suited to being accompanied by big flavors. I used it in a spicy stew, which was great.

Very tasty! Doesnt have that super “fishy” odor or taste. It comes with about 4 good size pieces! Great value!

Very good sautéed with some olive oil and butter. I sautéed one small onion in olive oil and butter with some sea salt and pepper for about two minutes. Then put two Mahi-mahi fillets into the same skillet together with the still uncooked onions.

Add a small amount of garlic salt directly onto the Mahi-mahi gives it some more flavor. Make sure the fish is in contact with the skillet and cook until fish and onions together are Golden caramelized.

I like it served with rice. Delicious !!.

My two Blackmoor goldfish go crazy for these treats. I bought these because they are made by King British. They do prefer King British flakes and floating pellets compared to other brands. My fish seem to be thriving on these, and are extremely active and healthy.

I had never heard of these treats until somebody mentioned them on a fish site. I thought lets have a look at some of these things then. When they arrived I got excited as it was something new to try.

I could not believe the response from the fish, they had turned into piranha they loved them. I shall keep on buying these as it is fun to watch the fish they are cheap and as it says on the packet they are a treat.

I bought these thinking theyd be like the pets at home ones but theyre rubbish. They dont stick on the side for more then 10 seconds and they make such a mess in the fish tank. I had literally just cleaned the tank before adding one if these and it was all cloudy afterwards!.

So I have two goldfish that I’m currently using for a fish in cycle for what will be my axolotls permanent tank and I breed Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches. All of them eat Tetra goldfish flakes (the roaches obviously get other foods as well but the fish flakes help up their protein intake to make molting easier).

The minute I put them in the fish tank, the fish come flying up to eat them. The minute I put them in the roach tank, roaches come running (see the baby in the picture?). I’ve tried others brands of goldfish flakes and my animals will only eat the Tetra brand.

We’d definitely be in trouble without them.

Applied smoothly! When that said is more like 8. In my personal opinion still shining after 8 hours is pretty amazing! It is pretty saturated with color just I need it two layers to get my perfect color.

At first the texture is nice and smooth after around five minutes dry but still feels moisture. Strange, but I love it. Feels luxury!really curious to try the other shades show less.

I really prefer not to feed my fish flakes. It makes them take in air when they go up to the top to eat them which is not good for them. Sometimes I make them my own food at home with Hikari blends they have great product great recipes.

I often feed them blood worms, I like to give them different selections throughout the week and switch it up so they get all the nutrients they need – which they DO NOT get from only flakes. I actually hate fish flakes.
