When I was in high school I bought the older version of this calculator just because I wanted a cute calculator (the older version came in pink) Well, now I’m 23 and set to graduate with my degree in meteorology this year, and I’m rebuying this calculator only due to the fact that my original one fell victim to a bad apartment flood I had last year.

When I received my funds from renters insurance, I went straight to Walmart in a mission to replace my beloved calculator. I went to 2 different Walmart’s and both didn’t have the 30XS, so I settled for the TI-30X IIS.

I was so disappointed to find that model didn’t have the features that I loved the 30XS for. I did my research and discovered that the new version of this calculator is now blue, but the features are the same.

NOTABLE FEATURES: -Answers are outputted as fractions automatically and it’s only two clicks to convert to decimal form if needed, although I find using fractions when I can helps during multi step weather calculations.

-Similarly, answers will automatically set up with square roots and/or fraction form when calculating with trigonometry.

This was purchased for my daughter who is currently a high school student. It does every thing she needs it to do and then some. It does take a little time to figure out its unique key combinations, but that is the case for most calculators.

It has a fairly large screen for a calculator of its class/type and you have the option of using several different display modes including Mathprint mode. It seems to be a great value for the money since it has the potential to serve my daughter in more advanced math studies and is a fraction of the price of calculators with comparable functions.

It gives my son’s $100+ TI calculator a run for its money. Very pleased with this purchase!.

I am in my 40’s going back to school for an Associates Degree. In high school I was horrible in math. I was one of those students who struggled with the formulas and could not see where I would use algebra and trigonometry in real life.

I was apprehensive about college math since I did so terrible 25 years ago so I purchased this calculator to give me the necessary advantage to perform well. It did not work. no not the calculator, that performed beautifully.

It performs many of the required functions and is very easy to use. My brain is what didn’t work. I learned that even with an exception piece of computing wizardry, I still do not posses the brain power to do simple algebraic and trigonomic computations.

I STILL suck at math and cannot figure out when I am going to use this stuff! I would rather shove paperclips under my finger nails or listen to “”Baby Shark”” on repeat for eternity than to take another math course but.

THE CALCULATOR IS FANTASTIC. I highly recommend this purchase. I would sell you mine when I complete this course but I will be placing on the ground this wonderful instrument of the maths and smashing it to pieces with the hammer of Thor and then placing the shattered remains in my fire pit, dousing them with gasoline, and burning them all while dancing a happy dance and laughing maniacally.

Seriously. screw math!.

I have a TI calculator I bought in the 80s that is still working, so I figured they made stuff to last. I needed a new desktop calculator for my telework station. The calculator works great and does what I need it to do.

I really like the solar powered feature. However, the shape is a little too wide and curved, so it doesn’t fit on my small desk easily. It is a little hard to pick up to move around. The issue of portability is the only reason I am not recommending the product.

I have a TI-89. My most significant justification for buying the TI nspire cx CAS was the color back lit screen. The TI-89 screen is low resolution and just too hard to see. Now that I have the nspire cx CAS, I see several other advantages.

It has everything the TI-89 has, and has a user interface – most importantly, summation, integration, derivation and more can be input using the standard symbols rather than through programming language type function calls.

The alpha keys are nice too; easier to find letters and no function key needed to switch to alpha mode. If you are a student, you need to make sure the calculator is allowed on tests that allow calculators.

It’s a bit too fancy for most standardized tests. Of course, the same is true for the TI-89. If you are using a calculator to check homework, or play around, this is the one to go with.

I learned to use Casio, so when my professor told me I have to use this one I was in pain. It’s ugly to look at and type numbers. It hurts… or maybe that is my hatred for anything algebra. I mean to write, it is just a calculator.

It works is all I can say. Still Casio is better, easier, and not an ugly barf blue. Looks like what barfed blueberry’s would look like. If that is a concern then choose a different color. Casio in my opinion is easier to learn.

But that is bc that is the one I learned first. But I do know for a fact Casio is better organized.

As a chemist I use a programmable graphing calculator. However I also tutor high school and college students and have used TI 30 series calculators for that purpose for decades. This calculator is more than adequate for junior high school, high school and most college courses.

In addition it is a bargin. Most standardized tests and teachers who allow calculators for tests allow the TI 30 series. It handles calculations found in all high school courses.

My kid is starting middle school and on the supply list was “calculator. ” So many to choose from and such wide price points, it was confusing. My kid reached out to the math advisor and he said this one would do great through high school and maybe even college.

Woot woot!!!! Price is less than half that of a large online retailer (you know, the one that bought Whole Foods) AND I could pick it up in hours? Plus get a percentage back? WINNER!!! Calculator has been performing great.

Has a sliding cover to protect it from accidental turn-ons and is solar powered too. Bright blue color helps my kid find it in the school supply bag, and it’s easy to write a name on it so it doesn’t get misplaced.

I’m a 9th grader in an algebra 1 class that requires a TI-83/84. I first planned on buying a new one, but I found out it costs more than $100. My second plan was to hop on eBay and search for a used/refurbished one.

When I saw this amazing deal for a refurbished TI-83 I had my doubts but after reading the reviews and looking at the images I bought it for a total of $27. I’m pleased, it may not be in the best condition but it’s just a calculator that I probably won’t even use after a few years.

The screen does work as noted but powers on strange because of the button pattern needed to hold to turn it in and the wrinkled or damaged ribbon cable to the screen is bad because of the various screen effects.

But the screen effect was not noted clearly in the description and only said that it has a boot defect and you had to hold two buttons to turn it on and it doesn’t turn on normally. But the description said nothing about a screen issue.

Overall I’m still going to keep it to repair.

Recently purchased this for my high school junior, this has more capabilities than the others. So far she has no issues with using it for pre-cal but also is using it for the PSAT and plans to use it in the future for other tests and math classes (college level).

Very pleased with it and would recommend it to others. It is an investment in your child’s education.

It works fine, perfect for an ‘ole number cruncher like me who prefers to run a tape whenever doing any bookkeeping. It sounds like someone has stepped on a cat when it prints, rather than the beefier more manly printing noise generated by the more substantial machines that I am used to.

I purchased this one when my larger ( more manly) Canon pooped out after about 15 years. But hey, for the price, it’s very reliable, and has more features than I will ever need. It fits the bill, it was available in my local store, so no shipping cost.

The display, features, setup, etc. , is virtually identical to my older Canon model. I chose the Canon brand because of the 15 plus years that I got out of my previous Canon. It’s also large enough for folks who have used larger machines, it is easy to transition to this “10 key” (that’s what we always called these guys); it’s not dinky.

Hard to beat for the money!.

I like that it uses an ink roller and standard calculator rolls. I don’t like the fact that it turns itself off after several minutes of inactivity and there is no way to disable that. It turns back on if you hit the CE/C key and keeps all totals alive until you physically turn off the power via the switch, or the power plug.

I notice that the key presses are spongy. I have to press down hard to make sure they enter as I hit them. I would prefer a more solid feel to the keypresses. Watch the output of the tape for the first few lines.

I ignore it and later discovered that the output had curled down and was wrapped inside the fresh tape coming off the roll! It bends backwards on the way out.

This is a perfect calculator for my use. It is quiet, keys are responsive, prints the negative in red, a plus. only issue I have is the manual’s instructions are not well-written at all. Not limited to this calculator, it is a common problem today with any applianc I have purchased.

I would recommend stocking the foam wedges to place under the calculator for them to 1) not slip around and 2) elevate the keyboard for ease of ‘touch’ use. You shouldn’t NEED to look at the keyboard when you are working with numbers; your mind should be on entering the numbers you are looking at.

I visited your local store to make my purchase but the sales people had no idea what I was asking for when I inquired about the ‘foam wedge’. I ordered it online and had it within two days.

Great little calculator at a reasonable price. I don’t often use the printing function. That is the only con. It’s a little noisy and slightly slower than the digital function. If you’re really fast with blind entry, it might seem a fraction of a second behind.

That still did not deter me from buying the V to replace my old P23-DH III, that I had had forever but on which the keys had started sticking. And the replacement replacement printing cartridges fit too.

This calculator is smaller than the bigger one I had before. I love it cause it doesnt move around the desk. The silver color blends in with my desk. It has feature to move around if you use batteries.

This particular Canon calculator has been around for many years. I owned one and used it quite frequently for almost 20 years when the ink cartridge finally ran out. We priced ink cartridges at the time and found a new calculator, newer version model because of the years, but the same calculator for the price of the ink cartridges so I bought the new calculator.

I have been very happy with it. It is a good size and both the reading on the calculator and the paper is perfect. I would highly recommend this calculator for someone who has a need for a tape to make sure they positively got it right and for anyone who needs a reliable, long lasting (from our experience), inexpensive calculator.

Most of the calculators that I looked at cost more and did the same. Canon makes quality products and I’m sure this Canon product would not disappoint.

Received quickly. I like this calculator! Requires adjusting to different key layout. Somewhat smaller footprint than I expected, but gives me more room on my small desk. Note, I ordered ten roll pack of “bond” paper rolls.

I noticed that when you tear off printed paper, you have to hold down the machine since it is so light. Old one was heavier! So far everything is good.

I am not pleased with this calculator which I ordered to replace the same model which I had for at least 10 years. The print cartridge enclosed with the calculator did not work as it should. It was unreadable.

It may have been dried out. This is the reason I ordered a new calculator in the first place. The old one failed after 10 years so I assume there is a problem. Replacing the print cartridge on the old one did not solve the problem.

The print should be crisp and clear. It is totally unreadable. I am going to return the product today.

This model replaced a much larger model I had at home which had served my needs perfectly. The only issue I had was that it was much too large for my small desk. Sharp calculators / adding machines have always served me well, even when I worked full time in an office where I had a Sharp.

This smaller version does everything I need it to. Just know that it isn’t quite as fast as it’s big brother so it might not serve you Speed Demons as well. This was a perfect investment for my needs.

I have had one just like this for maybe ten years (or longer) and I love it. Found the exact same one online and ordered it for work. (I hate using the calculator on the computer keyboard. ) I have never had problems with my old calculator and the new one it looks good on my desk.

Pros: fits nice in my hands, a breeze to use, easy to clean and too big to be misplaced. If you need something reliable to help you kids with grade school math, this is the one to buy. (Mine are both in college now, so I have had my original one a very long time.

) Cons: nothing, just happy that I could find a duplicate online.

I have a TI-5018 that was given to me in June 1994, the day I started a new job. It has been in constant use 6 days per week for the past 24 years and is still working flawlessly and of course has never needed a new battery.

I need one for my other office and wow, just found one on ebay. Fantastic quality, perfect size and great screen.

This is an excellent adding machine with its digital paper roll. At first I thought it was a gimmick but in fact, I’ve found myself constantly going back to previous calculations to retrieve the figures.

This is much quicker than having to re-do the calculation. Also, the 2 AA batteries are still going strong after several months so it’s very efficient. Finally, it’s small and lightweight, so easy to take on holiday if you work freelance.

The tax buttons are useful too. All in all, I’d recommend this machine, despite its cost, it’s a professional machine.

I really liked the “paper screen”, but the display is terrible. The first until I received had LCD bleed at the top of the first 4 digits. The second one I received was very hard to read at any angle.

and you could see all the LCD lines when not being used. It is not at all like the 1197 with its fluorescent digits. Unfortunately I had to return both of them due to the screen issues. I really wanted this to work for me, as I mentioned, I really liked the paperless function.

BTW, the “paper screen” had no LCD issues like the main one.

Very nice printing calculator. I replaced a model with paper role. This is extremely quiet and and easy to use. The keys nicely form to the fingers and has all the necessary functions. It is a nice lightweight desktop size.

The screen takes a little getting use too, but over all it does the job.

Nerd Alert: I love this calculator. I couldn’t use it for statistics this year (it’s a little limited on some really specific functions), and I was so disappointed. I still use it for Physics, so I always have between 1-3 calculators in my locker at any given time.

This calculator doesn’t run out of battery- ever. It’s probably the most dependable thing in my life right now. It’s lasted me for years, and it’s so compact and light that I don’t mind carrying it in my bag all day.

Get this calculator. You won’t be disappointed* *unless you’re in statistics or calculus. Then you’ll need a graphing calculator.

Works as advertised. However, I would have preferred to buy the advanced calculator now so he can get used to it for MS/HS. Also I had to buy it online because all the stores that had carried it were out of stock.

There is alot better solar powered systems with internal rechargeable batteries. Those are the one that works best and the batteries takes almost 10 years before needing to replace and work with or without light.

Though light is needed to recharge the very long lasting batteries.

I have this calculator in the color version and I love it so much. You can literally do everything on it if you take the time to learn it. Math tests will be easier and also doing household things like taxes and income and stuff will be easier.

There’s a myriad of apps to use already installed and to download. I recommend this to anyone when starting geometry because then you don’t need to buy another one. Get the silver edition that has the color features.

You won’t have to buy a calculator again ever.

When you want a calculator to just crunch some numbers, balance your bank account, etc this is definitely a great choice. Fits in pocket easily. Has a hard protective cover. Can be tossed in a woman’s purse as well.

Or leave it in your desk. I’m going to buy more of these.

I already own two others of this same calculator. I keep one downstairs, one in my purse and now I have one for my desk upstairs. It is a very basic calculator, but ideal for simple math. It has fairly large buttons.

The one feature that I like the most about it is the hard, plastic front cover. It protects it from bumps and prevents the screen from becoming damaged. I had another one almost identical to it that lasted for 21 years and the only reason it was no longer useful was because I left the cover off of it and the screen got damaged.

It’s an excellent calculator for the money.

Exactly what I’ve long wanted. a palm-sized solar-powered calculator with hard buttons. Took waiting till my last soft-button one died till I started searching. I guess it was made for young students.

I thought these pens would be terrible since theyre so cheap but to my surprise, they’re actually really smooth and pigmented. Great pens! I would buy again!

Having purchased Canon products for many many years, I was extremely disappointed to find the calculator that lives in a draw and was used less than 10 times had stopped working. Powers on ok, but the buttons failed to function.

Tried everything apart from removing the battery(why would I, it powers on). Rang the lovely folk at Officeworks, who couldn’t really help me as the warranty period was now over 12 months. They suggested to contact Canon directly.

As this is more over principle rather than cost, I assumed Canon would understand and come to the party, replacing the item as it is clearly in as new condition. Not only did they refuse to budge on their 12 month warranty, but they also tried to have me request that Officeworks replace the product instead! The nerve.

Not what I expected from a global market leading company. Boycotting Canon from here on out. Very disappointing outcome.

Bought only seven months ago, used occasionally, and now it won’t turn on. I have never had this happen with any calculator of any size or any price, that I may have used for many years. I love my Canon printer, but apparently their cheap calculators are not of the same quality.

I am going to get my money back and am buying something cheaper that hopefully will last.

Easy to use. The keys are a good size. Display is easy to read. We bought enough for everyone in the office and we are all happy with it.

I have had one of these for a few years and liked it so well I just bought a 2nd one for my shop. They are durable, easy to read, and have a high quality feel. I make far fewer errors with the nice big keys.

I have bought a few different large view calculators that were junk and did not last well at all. This TI model is good quality and a pleasure to use, with no downsides at all. Spend a few bucks and get this “real” one!.

This is the favorite small calculator in our office. It’s large enough that reading the display and numbers is easy but small enough to fit easily anywhere — desktop or drawer. And the features are what you’d expect and use most often.

I have used this particular calculator for years in my home office. They are sometimes hard to find in the stores. I love them because they are lightweight, the numbers are big and easy to read and its solar.

I purchased a Casio fx-115ES PLUS calculator for my daughter when she was in eighth grade. Given her passion for mathematics and science, I wanted her to have a calculator with advanced features that she could use through her high school and maybe in college.

It has all the advanced features of a graphing calculator except graphing. It can perform operations on complex numbers, vectors, and matrices, evaluate inequalities, solve systems of equations, convert units of measurement, and that is just for starters.

The large natural textbook display makes it easy to work with fractions. Answers to fractional calculations are easy to confirm as a decimal with one key stroke. The calculation history allows you to scroll back through previous answers if you forgot to write them down.

The TABLE Mode is a helpful feature because you do not have to do repeated calculations. My daughter is now a mechanical engineering major in her junior year of college. She still uses the fx-115ES PLUS I bought for her in middle school.

Her friends, amazed by the capabilities of the calculator after seeing how easy it is for her to use, have bought their own. Given the low cost of this calculating dynamo, it is one of the best investments I have made for her education.

Best Calculator for the SAT!!! Because of the solving equations functions under MODE, this is the best calculator for the SAT exam. I also recommend the CASIO fx- 991ES PLUS. This calculator can solve systems of equations, and all three types of answers for quadratic equations.

The COMPLEX numbers function is also extremely helpful. A TI-84 is a great calculator for graphing, BUT, you aren’t graphing on the SAT exam. Get this calculator. I have coached over 200 students in the last 8 years and this and the 991 are the two machines I recommend.

Love this for the SAT and ACT.

I’ve owned quite a few different calculators over the years and have found that the Casio models in particular are very easy to use. The Classwiz FX-991EX is no exception. If you’ve used the FX-300 / FX-115 ES or ES+ models before, you should feel right at home.

The most used functions are the most accessible with a single button press, followed by slightly lesser used functions using the SHIFT key. Each mode (matrix, vector, statistics, etc. ) has its own contextual features which are found in a menu displayed with the options button (OPTN).

Equations can be entered just like you would in a textbook, including integrals, derivatives, summations, proper and improper fractions, and more. While this is not a CAS (Computer Algebraic System) calculator, it is very capable of solving simultaneous equations, working with complex numbers, and handling matrix and vector math.

Compared to the FX-115ES that I had before, the FX-991EX is several times faster, so they have upgraded the processor on this one, yet it is still able to run off solar power when needed. The calculator doesn’t have RPN (Reverse Polish Notation), so if that is something that is important to you, condsider buying an HP instead.

For everyone else, I highly recommend this calculator for it’s ease of use and sheer functionality. Also of note to those considering this model: There is a German version known as the FX-991DEX that is available from Europe.

It has added functions that I’ve heard were removed from the US version so that the calculator would be allowed for certain curriculum / exams. According to the Casio International website, the FX-991EX has 552 functions and the Casio Europe website shows the FX-991DEX version as having 696 functions.

All in all an great calculator for very little money with the nicest display I’ve seen yet on a solar powered calculator.

Product and calculator is as mentioned. Very useful etc. however the calculator definitely does not seem to be factory refurbished or tested or anything. In fact, my calculator did not even come reset! I could see the whole history of the previous user’s calculations.

Also after checking on the calculator, looks like the calculator I got was almost 5 years old! While this is not a complete deal breaker, just be aware that you will be getting a calculator with clear signs of use with no warranty for very close to the retail price anyway.

So I would say that the value isn’t great, I’d just go with buying one brand new. Additionally, while the description states it comes with the software needed to connect calculator to computer, it doesn’t provide any activation key or such.

It does come with a CD but in 2019, who still has a computer that has a CD slot? (I have a Mac and Macs haven’t had a CD slot for almost a decade by now). So I cannot comment on what the CD offers.

My son needed a TI-84 for class and I couldn’t bring myself to pay $90 for a calculator that hasn’t changed for over 20 years. This looked like a much better alternative as a more modern calculator with TI-84 compatibility for classroom use and more advanced functions if he needed them — and it costs less than a used TI-84.

Unfortunately beyond a one-time turn on to verify it worked, he never got to use it. While the calculator certainly feels substantial and well built, he dropped it one time and it’s completely dead. Everything is still fully intact, with no visible damage — it simply doesn’t work.

This isn’t a cell phone or laptop — it’s a calculator intended to be used by students, so I’m surprised it’s so fragile. I can’t recommend this if you think there’s any chance it will be dropped. Probably fine for a college student, but I would think twice about getting this for a kid in middle school.

Not to say that the TI-84 CE isn’t a great calculator: the color graphing, small form factor and the fact that it is the de-facto standard in high school math classes make it an obvious choice for anything above algebra.

But the battery cannot be trusted! I have seen a disproportionate number of these lie about battery life to students, and worse yet, may of them, once they are drained, don’t wake back up after extended charging.

This situation is death in an AP or higher math environment. Instead, save $100+ and buy the first version of the Nspire with the removable keypads for under $50. Update the OS to 3. 9 and you get the user friendly and common TI-84 math print and statistics wizards, plus you get the super advanced Nspire in one package.

No, it won’t do color or CAS (calculator can do symbolic algebra), but it will do pretty anything else a TI-84 Silver will do and most of what a new Nspire will do. Bonus, it takes regular AAA batteries.

I have two TI-1795+ models – the older model, constantly in use in my office since the mid 90’s. One of life’s little pleasures. Simple, effective, always work, never need batteries or anything. Always there when you need them.

Just clean them up with Windex once in a while. Bought two new ones because we need more – the old ones still work fine and you’ll have to pry mine from my cold dead fingers if you ever want it!.

Great little calc. Sleek design, easy to hold. Wanted battery operated, not solar, and just basic functions, so this one offered just what I wanted. TI calculators have always gone the distance and served me well.

I HAVE HAD ONE OF THESE FOR PROBABLY 20 YEARS AND NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH IT UNTIL MY DOG GOT AT IT. I WAS SURPRISED THEY STILL SOLD THEM SO I BOUGHT ONE AS A REPLACEMENT AND HOPEFULLY WITH GET MANY YEARS OF USE WITH THIS ONE ALSO.
