I found the story within the game to be much more engaging and concise than 4 or 5, without jumping around to so many different planets: it all happens one place in this game. However, key events that occurred between 5 and Infinite are never fully explained, and only revealing through audio logs, so the game starts off with a very confusing opening.

The story is thus hobbled by knowledge that is only obtainable through novels and other tie-ins, and knowledge of the events of Halo 5 is critically important. I suspect the game would make much less sense to someone who has not completed Halo 5.

The combat mechanics are much improved over 5, and feel more like the mechanics of 2, 3, Reach, and 4. When I aim and shoot a weapon it feels natural and none of the extra zooming-in for non-zoomable weapons like there was in Halo 5.

The enemy chatter is fantastic and truly one of the best features of the game. There are both propaganda towers broadcasting enemy dialogue as well as the aliens themselves who talk amongst their group, including comments directed both at the Master Chief and at each other, with Grunts often the subject of ridicule by the other aliens.

While there has been chatter in all previous games, it is much more fleshed out and responsive to what the Master Chief does in Halo Infinite. For example, if you kill a Brute with a headshot, other Brutes will comment on a brother’s loss, Jackals may cry out that the enemy was too tall to avoid being shot in the head, and Grunts may simply freak out as being the next to be killed.

All of the chatter adds up to being the most enjoyable experience the game offers. Graphics in first person mode are also highly detailed, even on Xbox One. On Series S/X they probably look even better.

But graphics for the pause screen tac-map are blocky and rather imprecise without the ability to zoom in on any features. But the new physics engine is a joke. Sometimes you can shoot and enemy and he’ll fly over 50 meters into the air for no reason.

Even the Master Chief can be blown high and far from an enemy attack. The ragdoll physics ruins what is otherwise a “believable” game. The game shows other signs of very poor playtesting. Captions often to not line up with the dialogue audio.

Captions are frequently a second or two out of sync but in one case I had it over two minutes out of sync. The audio message had ended well before the captions were displayed. The main menu is also problematic, as to continue the campaign you must wait for all online content to be loaded, otherwise the continue screen shows you the image of the saved location, but no continue prompt is given, requiring backing out to main screen to finish loading content.

Fora game that has been out for six months before I played it, that’s bad. Some of the boss fights are also terribly difficult due to the frequency of one-hit-kills they employ. The third boss in the game required about 100 attempts for me to master on Normal difficulty, and I’ve beaten each previous Halo game on Difficult.

When the third boss (of about eight) is the hardest enemy in the entire series, constantly wiping you out in a single hit, something is wrong. I suspect damage done to the enemy scales with difficulty level, but damage they do to Master Chief appears to be pegged to Legendary.

The lack of a compass on Master Chief’s HUD is also a poor design choice. He had a compass in earlier games, even though it wasn’t terribly needed due to the more linear approach of each level. As an open-world game for most of the first half, the lack of a compass creates disorientation, only solved by a multi-second pause to bring up the tac-map and determine your heading from the icon.

Ultimately, the story is really good, the graphics are great, and the chatter is excellent, but problems in execution and playtesting sort of ruin it. I feel like there have been better Halo games than this.

I get the impression that 343 Industries is still trying to find the winning formula Bungie produced. Closer than Halo 5 in many aspects (like combat) but so much further away in others (playtesting and physics) For context, I have completed all six mainline Halo games, as well as Halo: Reach.

I played on Xbox One hardware. I do not find the multiplayer modes of first-person shooters very enjoyable, so I am focused almost entirely on the single-player campaign in Halo games.

Oh dear, what could have been. An already-once-delayed game with a lot of polish in some aspects falls utterly short in many. As you can see from the trailers, the graphics are very good and most of the time once you dial in the settings, it runs quite smooth (will touch on this more later).

Decent customization of offsets and whatnot to get your UI how you want it. I enjoy the open world aspect of campaign, but that’s where the up sides end. Now, onto the cons: Campaign: – Extremely inconsistent AI / tuning.

Be prepared to coast through large sections of gameplay trying to find a way to stave off boredom, and then bang your head against the wall for hours on an overtuned mob or boss. – No co-op, a staple of the Halo series so far.

– No going back to play individual missions. If you want to play one again, you have to start all over. Multiplayer: – Laughable customization unless you’re willing to pay, and pay handsomely. – Grindy battle pass model that doesn’t reward performance, but rather chasing silly challenges that leave your team handicapped.

– Challenges in battle pass for those wishing to progress through it either fail to track accurately, or fail to track at all. Players are then forced to buy challenge swaps to get past the broken challenges if they want to get a weekly reward, for example.

– Awful netcode leading to horrible desync issues between what’s displayed client side and what’s actually going on server side. You’ll get shot well after you go behind walls. Your shots won’t hit. Your grenades will do absolutely nothing.

Other times, your grenade that you positively whiffed on will somehow end up getting the kill, so it’s not all bad, just incredibly inconsistent. – Big Team Battle has been broken for over a month now with no fix in sight.

– Game crashes are common with no error message or warning, and if you get unlucky and get too many of them you’ll get banned due to their sloppy work. – Player collision is no more, meaning you can backsmack someone from in front of them, or regular melee someone from behind them.

This, combined with the desync issues means lock on is incredibly inconsistent – you’ll see players flying at you to melee you from over 20 in-game feet away, but players right in front of you won’t lock on.

– Similarly, this collision and desync affects weapons like the sword or hammer. I’ve been killed from incredible ranges by the hammer and then had hits right in front of me not even lower shields VERY often.

Stability: – Mentioned a bit above, but VERY unstable. Routinely crashes or drops people from games and somehow in late 2021 we don’t have a way to rejoin games (especially ranked) that we’re dropped from.

Then, if you’re unlucky enough to not be the one dropped, you must play the remaining time 3v4, or 2v4, or even 1v4 with no option to surrender. If you just AFK you get kicked anyway and too many of those get you banned.

Overall, right now, it’s a definitely not, do not buy. If you want to tinker around in multiplayer for free, sure, be my guest, but don’t consider this a full game for now. I’m hoping they take the feedback to heart and in a year or so perhaps it’s worthy of being called a fully released game.

It feels more like a technical alpha right now and there’s a lot of work to be done. Crazy to think they stumbled their way through a major already – full of crashes and drops, if you didn’t know.

While perhaps not as grand as its title suggests, Halo Infinite successfully takes the series back to its roots while adding a sprinkle of new features to make it still feel relevant. As for the gameplay, the gunplay feels right.

and the addition of the grappling hook is a fun way to traverse the landscape and take out foes. The main campaign is sizable, this time taking place in an open world format. It’s not as big as Grand Theft Auto or Ghost Recon games as of late, but it serves as a fun distraction between the main campaign missions (it’ll likely take you around 30 hours to complete everything solo).

Oh, and you’ll be happy to hear that you play as Master Chief for the duration of the journey. Unfortunately, the story is lacking as it mostly involves flashbacks to Cortana’s rampancy and doesn’t feel like it accomplishes much.

I don’t care about multiplayer deathmatch, but for those concerned I know there’s at least 10 maps currently available. Halo Infinite is definitely worth the ride for first-person shooter veterans and newbies alike.

Despite a few hiccups in the story department, I’d say this installment is further proof that Halo is indeed safe in the hands of 343 Industries.

Like most Xbox gamers, Halo has been a favorite series of mine and was the pillar of gaming on the Xbox consoles. However, my love for the Halo franchise imploded when Halo 5 Guardians was released years ago.

When Halo Infinite was announced, I was skeptical. I didn’t want to get my hopes up and be disappointed again. Cut to 2022 where I only recently finished the Halo Infinite campaign. That should tell you something since normally, I would’ve completed it within the first month of launch.

It’s not a horrible game. It kind of redeems the series after Guardians. However, it’s not memorable. I was expecting an open world FPS that was going to reinvent the Halo mechanics. It doesn’t. I am not saying this is a garbage game.

It’s just that the world gets repetitive. Fast. I was expecting varied enviroments that the Halo rings were known for in the past Halo 1-3 games. Instead, it’s the same rocky/forest landscape with the occasional sub interior levels that have the same metallic sheen.

The controls are solid and are accessible for veterans and new players a like. I just wanted a memorable adventure that would have me immediately returning for play through on Veteran difficulty. I also feel that making this game for cross gen was a mistake and really held back the true graphical potential for this game.

But I know that not everyone has access to a Xbox Series X and Microsoft needs to make a profit. In the end, Infinite has opened the door to me becoming a full fledged Halo fan again but this game failed to fulfill the expectations built up over the past two years leading up to its launch.

Ever since I started playing Halo: Combat Evolved in 2001, this series held closest to my heart. 20 years later this franchise still thrives despite Halo 5: Guardians’ lackluster story, I am very happy to say Halo Infinite is an amazing game.

Halo Infinite is (in my opinion) one of the best Halo games ever released. The story is amazing, pretty, and very emotional, being the first Halo game to make me shed a tear since Halo 3. All of the characters they introduced and all being lovable and diverse, reminds me of Halo 2’s characters very much.

The gameplay is perfect, the best in the series ever. The art style from Halo 4, 5, and Halo Wars 2 was not the best, but Halo Infinite returns to the original style which is wonderful. The lore is amazing and everything is perfect.

Although missions are not replayable unless you want to restart the campaign, this is a bummer but most games follow this path like Destiny 2, Farcry, Assassins Creed, so most live services games. With it being a live service, I do expect story DLC to grow more like an Arbiter DLC or a Flood DLC.

I love this game to death and I will for the next 10 years.

The $100 card is the best bang for your buck, offering an extra 11. 50 worth of game credits. Unfortunately, not everyone can shell out that much at a time (versus the 1, 5, 10, 20, and 50 options). Sad halo went down the route of $10 color reskins.

Needing to spend thousands on a game to have it all seems excessive.

Halo’s shop is god awful. You barely get anything for the price you are paying. Halo 5 gave you a bunch of stuff $10 although it was random, so still bad. Hopefully 343 will be more generous in the future.

Halo Infinite points. I’m of the belief that things in the store are way too pricey. But that doesn’t mean I can’t save up here and there for the next Battle Pass. :-p

This was the original price, but Microsoft has lowered the price of points digitally on Xbox. If you are going to purchase the points, then just buy them directly from in the game

Do NOT buy this game! We bought the game thinking we could play it on our PC. It is the PC version, after all. But it turns out that the game won’t work unless you also buy the gamepass, which is currently $10 per month.

I thought it was a one-and-done purchase, but it is not. That is not explained in the game description. I can’t rate the game because we haven’t played it since I don’t want to buy the gamepass subscription.

Note that since it is a digital purchase, it can’t be returned or refunded.

It’s Halo! What else can you say for a 20-year-old franchise. A must have for fans who want to play it on currently live servers. I got the physical disk version. The installation was enormous in time and hard drive space.

But you still need to keep the disc in the drive since it acts as the game key. I recommend you go straight to digital if you want to play without the disc. If you take the Series S with you while traveling, digital is necessary!.

Am I even worthy to review one of the greatest franchises ever? There is no gamer out there that doesn’t know of the Halo series; it spans literal generations now. The MCC (Master Chief Collection) brings it all together in one nice package, and can be played on console or PC (included with Game Pass), and provides updated graphics for the earlier Halo games.

Some PC users may experience anti-cheat errors, and this is usually caused by antivirus software or firewall settings.

I’ve been wanting this for many years. Its a childhood game for me. I was surprised it had every insert, not used and 0 rust! The price was also amazing, to me, for the condition. It even had a slurpee coupon for 7/11 and a 3 month trial of xbox live unused from the original Xbox days.

Halo 2 could never replicate it’s Original but it has a good go at it. I bought this again as I wrongly as it turned out thought I’d lost my original metal cased game. However once I received it I went to play I on my Xbox One.

Unfortunately the One doesn’t play games that old. Nevermind. I still have my 360, so I may give it a go on that.

So if you love video games, particularly any game that involves a good run around and shot the aliens, then this is for you. Actually all the Halos are for you. There are downsides to the all, and upsides.

I love the local co-op stuff – 2 players working together to kill the aliens. Or the comp mode where you get 4 friends on the couch and run around and kill each other! Lots of evil laughter occurs when you use the rocket launches!!! Great for guys, girls, beginners and gaming pros!.

Master Chief was EVERYONES favorite Hero! Gamer’s where honored creating awesome graphic designs and montages using this character from the past to the present with this character. Favorite multiplayer map was blood gulch.

The game gave myself, gamers, and many others love, uniqueness, creativity, and heart racing memory moments. Even today in 2023, this game still gives us back in the Xbox 360 days vibes. Chills, shivers, thrills, and spills.

This game was created originally by Bungie but 343 Industries picked up where bungie left off. Every Halo game to date has now been combined into one amazing bundle called: Halo The Master Chief Collection.

By all means, CE is quite outdated and when comparing it to most games in today’s age, the game falls behind. However, you have to remember that this released in what. 2001? 2002 or 2003? In its time this game was shattering records and was a technological achievement.

Imo, the game has aged well. unless of course, you’re playing the PC port or the Anniversary one (that is also including the MCC) because the graphics there? Are inferior to the original on the Xbox.

Take for instance: The shields the Covenant have; From time to time you’ll see their “deployable” cover, and in the original they have this electric arc to them. In the MCC, Anniversary, and the PC port, its just a mesh of ugly colors.

The shield doors on “Truth and Reconciliation” have this same problem. Before it looks like its made of energy, but in the ported versions its just a mesh of mess and makes it out to be ugly. On the same mission, right when you start, in the OG? You can tell the dirt/mud had some significant details.

In the ported versions, you had to shine or had to have a direct light source on that said dirt/mud to have the details to show. This holds true as well to some of the detailing in Forerunner structures, where in the OG you can see that the walls and floors seem detailed.

But in the ports, you again must have a direct light source shine on that surface to bring out that detail. Another similarly, is at the beginning of “Assault of the Control Room” where it pans up at the glass ceiling.

In the OG, it looks like its raining/snowing, or some liquid of sorts sliding down the domed architecture. In the ported versions, its a mesh of messy colors and it just looks horrifically terrible. Even on that same mission when you look up in the sky, it looks bland and ugly, whereas in the OG, its a literal fog.

In the ports you can see the outline of the canyon, in the OG you cannot. I believe a YouTuber by the name “Late Night Gaming” (https://www. youtube. com/watch?v=M6nZPrMSu0w) describes in complete detail about this.

Now to get this out of the way. what I’ve said so far? Isn’t my opinion (except for that I said the game has aged well). Its a fact. If you want to understand why, I’d recommend watching that video link.

As for my opinions? I don’t have an opinion. Actually, except for one: Halo CE SPV3. Actually, what I’m going to say is mostly fact, and somewhat subjective. Halo CE SPV3 dramatically boosts the experience of the OG Halo CE.

It has a graphics overhaul, new weapons and vehicles, added sections to maps of missions, more missions, a secondary campaign called”Lumara” I think? That is my opinion. however, its also a fact given how.

well. that its simply a direct improvement of the CE experience, by taking aspects from Halo 2, 3, 4, 5, even Halo Wars and mashing it together? Halo CE SPV3 turns Halo CE into a more modern version of itself, and adds more than quite literally, most AAA titles don’t, and its just a mod! Personally, I’d love to play SPV3, however, I only have MCC on Xbox.

That being said, I’m looking out for Halo CE PC games to make that SPV3 download and play what will essentially be a new experience all together. both in that, I rarely play FPS on PC, and that because of how much it adds?.

Obviously this is a classic – so much fun to play, and the nostalgia factor is off the charts. This is a great pick-up for anyone, regardless of whether or not you used to play it. But maybe even better than the game itself is DKOldies’ dedication to their customers.
