20 Best Foundation For Hybrid Mattress (2023 Updated)

So I recently bought several Casper mattress sets (mattress, foundation, frame) to replace several very old beds here at home. I wanted to share some feedback about the foundations, in the hope that Casper can improve what is already a very good product.

Assembly of the foundations was very easy and straight forward. There are six pieces — two sides, two fronts, and two sets of cloth covered slats. The front and side pieces side together with miter joints, and then are held in place by large plastic pins.

The slats lay on supports anchored to the side pieces. No rocket science here. Two things: (1) the supports that the slats rest on are too narrow. As you are assembling the foundation, it is very easy to jar the foundation and the slats will fall off the assembly.

Once everything is in place, they are find, it’s just frustrating. (2) the tolerances seem to be just a bit too tight. One of the miter joints did not quite match up and the pin needed to be hammered in place, and then there is the slat issue just documented.

That being said, I’m quite happy here. I will post my comments on the mattress itself at a later time.

It’s a foundation. You sleep on it. Easy to put together. Easy to take apart. About the same as every other one of these I bought from other companies. I like this color better though.

I am very happy with this frame. It was quick and easy to assemble without tools, perfect for my senior abilities. And true to the product description, it does not squeak. My new mattress fits perfectly on it, and the frame and mattress are easy to manuever.

I don’t have a headboard yet, but I do like the braces that were included in case I ever get one. I totally agree with the product description and the other consumer reviews.

I find these foundations too expensive for their respective sizes. I had King bed before, in another dwelling and the foundation was totally different and lower height. I liked that one much better. (Many interlocking pieces of metal, took much longer to put together, but directions were easy to follow).

However, this new foundation was the only way I was going to fit a King-sized bed upstairs in our new home given our unusual narrowness in this entryway. I tried looking for the foundation that I had before but could not find it.

King mattress came in a long box, so again it could be brought upstairs.

Extremely happy with another Ashley store/Ashley. com purchase! Excellent quality and easy assembly. There’s even room for small storage boxes (or the cat to hide) underneath! A fair price for a great product.

I absolutely LOVE this “box spring”! (No springs) I’m sure it’s going to add years of life to our bed. Easy assembly! Comes with all the tools needed. Lightweight but VERY heavy duty! We bought the king size for our bed and it only weighs #50 Made of metal without any squeeks during sleep or other bed activity.

Hubby and I are on the heavy side and it does not affect the performance of the product. Very affordable! Highly recommend.

Product comes shipped in a long and narrow box that was easy to fit into my hatchback after I let the back seat down. Me and my Dad assembled this, after laying it out per the stickers on the metal pieces and getting everything in place.

Assembly was easy, and the stickers on the metal pieces made it more simple. The best part was when you put on the cover, it really came together and looked finished. I also really liked that the cover has a zipper for easy removal.

I think this box spring it very sturdy and will last me for a long time. I purchased a medium firm memory foam mattress to go with, and the combo of the mattress and box spring is much more sturdy and does not give like my previous traditional box spring and coil pillowtop mattress.

I could not be more pleased!.

We purchased this box spring kit to be delivered to home as we don’t have a vehicle large enough to purchase a ready-made one. It was quick and easy to set up, nice and solid construction, affordable, and not too heavy to lift up the stairs when we were finished.

Excellent solid base for my kiddo’s bed, the 9″ height is great for making it “regal” feeling.

I needed a low profile box spring because I recently purchased a new mattress that is very thick. I ordered a queen size through AFW and made plans to borrow a vehicle that could fit a queen size box spring so I could do a store pick up.

I picked it up and dropped it off at home, got on with my day, and didn’t get back home until late. We unwrapped the box spring and went to switch it out with my old one, and then noticed that the AFW employee loaded my vehicle with a full size box spring instead – not the queen size I ordered – which was incredibly frustrating.

The next morning I spoke with customer service and they said they could have the right box spring shipped to me on Monday (two days later) and they would pick up the incorrect one. This was great but also, because I live in an apartment, frustrating to have a box spring in the way for two days, but it wasn’t the end of the world.

The delivery guys were great at communicating the drop off and pick up on delivery day. However, after they installed it for me and left I noticed some stains on the top of the box spring. *eye roll*.

These marks won’t affect the functionality but still frustrating to get a brand new box spring with marks on it after first being given the wrong size. AFW needs better quality control, in my opinion, and to double check orders when customers pick up furniture.

I purchased the box spring after reading the warranty information as it relates to the mattress. You have to ensure your box spring supports your mattress appropriately. This was an investment in my mattress.

I wanted to ensure that if something occurred with my mattress, I would be totally covered by having an appropriate base. With an investment in a mattress for more than $2K, there could be no room for errors on my part! I also appreciate the fact that the boxspring/foundation is wrapped in the same material/color as my mattress.

It’s been a really long time since I bought a new set. I’m very happy with my purchase and would definitely recommend it to a friend.

The Sealy foundation we recently purchased was supposed to be brown in color. When we stopped at Slumberland to purchase a new foundation for the Stearns and Foster mattress we purchased a couple years ago, we were informed by the Sales person that the Stearns and Foster foundation was now only available in blue, but that the Sealy was available in brown.

We purchased the Sealy foundation and had it delivered. Upon putting in in the bedframe we found it to be black in color and not brown as told it would be. I called the sales person we purchased it from and he had me send pictures of the color.

When I contacted him a week later he told me it was his fault and that the only color it comes in is black. He said he would contact his manager and see if they could give us our money back and come and get the foundation.

We decided we didn’t want to be without a foundation while hunting for another color. We are keeping the foundation for now. We are not happy that the only option appeared to be that they would come and pick it up.

The mattress is very comfortable, but it isn’t as soft as I thought it would be. We opted for the one inch foam on top instead of the three inch foam, and it was very thin. Luckily we had purchased a three inch memory foam bed topper that we had been using on our previous mattress.

We had purchased the topper from Brentwood Home, and when we added that to the new mattress it was very comfortable. We’ve only had the mattress for a few months now, but so far, it is holding up. I just wish the mattress had had a bout an inch more of foam padding on top.

I have the juniper mattress set up on the foundation, no bed frame. The foundation is great, easy instructions and can do it by yourself. I did however have one small issue getting the last peg in. It does have some troubleshooting in the directions which helped.

The foundation is great how we have it set up for my toddler, since it’s not in a bed frame, my toddler can get in and out no problem. The color is great too. It doesn’t look like a “box spring” also there is no sharp edges or staples or screws sticking out.

Would purchase the juniper mattress and foundation again for my other daughter when the time comes.

The fabric cover was the best part. There was 6 support legs for the queen but no center support. Also one of the threaded openings was crooked and the leg wouldn’t screw in straight. This caused that leg to lean outward and made me question the sturdiness of it.

Also, there is no way to attach a headboard. One of the product questions on Sam’s said you could get a headboard kit but there was nothing included in the packaging or instructions on that. I even checked the Sealy and Sam’s websites.

In the end I returned it and got something else.

I decided to purchase this instead of the usual box spring. The set up and assembly was very easy and took me no more than 30 minutes to do. I really like the extra storage space gained by using this instead of a bed frame and box spring.

We got this for our teenager. Super easy to setup–it took only a few minutes. Love that the base is wrapped with foam and fabric, so it doesn’t hurt to bump into. 6 legs and sturdy boards.

This was exactly what I needed for my new bed frame. The bed set I purchased does not require a box spring, but without it, I had a huge hole between my mattress and headboard, perfect for loosing pillows while I sleep.

When I put my traditional box spring on, it got rid of the hole, but my bed was super high off the ground. The mini box spring is a perfect size. It lowered my bed enough for it to not be an awkward height, and the gapping pillow loosing hole is still gone.

I’ve been a satisfied Tempur-Pedic customer with multiple purchases over the past 11 years. This 9″ king-size TEMPUR-Flat® Foundation is the first time I’ve been disappointed. – One half of the set was badly scraped on the bottom side, tearing the plastic bag and the decorative mesh on the bottom of the foundation.

– Though underside damage at least isn’t visible, one still hopes a premium product will arrive in premium condition for the price! – Thinking above, a plastic bag doesn’t seem like enough to protect bedding in transit.

– The plastic corner protectors (“Remove and get ready for a powerful sleep”!) were haphazardly stapled into the bottom frame of the product. They were extremely difficult to remove without tearing the fabrics – Speaking of staples, the manufacturing was very erratic about the placement of the staples on the bottom edge.

Staples were sticking out at all kinds of strange angles, even protruding through the consumer-facing edges of the foundation where they could scratch a shin. It took an hour to carefully remove them myself with pliers.

I’d consider purchasing from Tempur-Pedic again, just because they have delivered quality products to my family in the past. But this specific product at this time seems to have some significant quality control issues in manufacturing and delivery.

I did call Tempur-Pedic to report my feedback as well, so hopefully they will improve!.

This mattress without a doubt due to its’ shear weight (yes heavy mattress) and springiness is built on a heavy duty quality slab of quite firm (but not hard) latex as its foundation. Likely to last for many years.

This excluding the shell is the firm side. For lightweights that can’t get firm latex to compress enough. (probably anyone under 200lbs) might find this side initially comfortable but will most likely do a lot of tossing and turning and wake up sore unless they pad it with a thick enough (probably 3 inch) medium topper.

That’s where the other side was supposed to come in. The so called medium side in my opinion is probably a two inch layer of overly soft (not medium) foam designed to mask the firmness of the firm slab.

If you are a real light weight guessing 140 lbs or lighter this side might feel luxurious enough. At 185 the so called medium side bottoms out instantaneously and causes this latex mattress to feel identical to a futon.

Lacks springy liveliness of quality latex of which I owned before and slept on for over 15 years so I know. This mattress should of had three inches of firmer (true) medium or perhaps two inches firmer medium with only an inch of soft on the medium side.

But then at this price point you would have a true luxurious ten inch mattress and the competitors would be complaining. A lightweight who throws a feather bed substitute (polyester) topper 3 inch is going to love this mattress on either side.

With said topper (I’m about 185 lbs) I find the firm side slightly better than tolerable and it might grow on me over time. The other side unsalvageable (in my opinion) since there is already an overly soft latex layer built in.

In summary due to the sale. I feel as though I got a decent kit foundation with a pretty and durable casing and a quality slab of latex with a soft and pretty and probably durable cover on it. quite suitable I suppose to play around with and try to make a finished comfortable bed.

We purchased this foundation in hopes that it would solve our problem of a squeaky TP foundation caused by a heavy king-sized Tempur-Pedic mattress. However, this was not the case. Once we got the Latex for Less foundation assembled, which came without instructions (although easy enough to figure out) and a couple of the predrilled holes were not wide enough for the bolts (we had to forcibly hammer the bolts further in to attach the nuts), we placed the LfL foundation and our TP mattress on the bed with high hopes.

Unfortunately, when we first sat on the side of the bed, we were greeted with loud wood cracking and squeaks from the LfL foundation. So, we are now worse off than we were before. Please be aware that there is a no return or refund policy with LfL.

We have wasted several hundred dollars.

The mattress foundation complements the latex mattresses we bought, providing a firm base for the mattresses to rest on. Assembly of the foundation set was more of a challenge than I expected. First, the assembly instructions provided were adequate, but not detailed enough in my opinion.

The illustrations for the depicted parts were less than satisfactory in that some effort is required to decipher the illustration parts. No instructions were given as to how to attach the wing nuts, washer, lock-nut, bolt assembly.

Does the wing nut go first, then the lock-nut? I know the answer, but how many others will know? When it came time to do the final wing nut tightening, I would definitely recommend a hand driven wing nut driver tool to fully engage the wing nut to the foundation frame.

Also, be very careful nut to get stuck with wooden splinters from the foundation assembly. Gloves might help. Once assembled, and before encasing it with the protective sheet cover, make sure the assembled foundation fits in your bed frame! This mattress foundation did not fit.

I had to improvise and get a wood sander, which thankfully I had, and sanded the foundation down to a size that would fit into the bed frame. The rudimentary design of the mattress foundation is such that there is no way to make slight adjustments to compensate for size differentials between the bed frame and mattress foundation.

There was about an 1/8″ of wood required to sand off to make it fit. Maybe I should have shaved off more since after I put the cover on, it almost didn’t go in again.

Overall, I was expecting the same quality in the king foundation as the queen foundation I previously bought and assembled. This was not the case. While the same design was used in both foundations, the instructions provided were lacking in detail, and seemed to be perhaps an earlier version of the assembly instructions.

The instructions I received with my queen foundation were better detailed and easy to understand. The quality of wood seems suspect. I found more than a handful of cracks in the wood when assembling it.

Hopefully this does not impact structural integrity. The slats employ the same design in the queen foundation. Only the top and bottom slats have velcro on them, and that is how they attach to the foundation frame.

The rest of the slats sit on top of the wood but are not adhered in any semi-permanent or permanent fashion. The foundation cover quality is lacking. Compared to the version supplied with my queen foundation, the king foundation cover was looser, not as snug when fitting it over the foundation, had fabric strings everywhere on it, and had a strong chemical smell that was persistent, even hours after removing it from the plastic packaging.

My queen foundation cover had none of these issues. The zipper mechanism on the king foundation allowed easier attachment when sliding it over the foundation, compared to the queen foundation cover. But for a company that prides itself on sustainable and natural products, it was disconcerting to have to smell a formaldehyde like substance in my bedroom when I was assembling the foundation cover over the foundation.

I was going to provide a three star rating on my initial assessment. However, when I finished assembling the cover, and went to move the king foundation into my bed frame, the top slat came undone, and gravity ended up taking all of the slats and crashing them into the bottom of the foundation.

Not only did this make me angry, I had to then undo the cover and re-affix the slats back to their poorly designed velcro patches. I ended up doing the same thing I did with my queen foundation and put packing tape over the slat ends to prevent this from happening again.

It seems like there was no design review or quality assurance done on the foundation to ensure no problems happen when transporting the foundation or setting it on its side. Both scenarios undoubtedly will cause issues due to the way the horizontal slats are affixed to the foundation frame.

The chemical smell for the cover seems to have dissipated several days later. I will still be purchasing a PlushBeds king size latex mattress to go on top of the foundation. However I wish I had looked elsewhere for bed foundations because the quality of the foundations I purchased (one queen and one king) do not live up to the expectation of quality set by my current PlushBeds queen mattress.

I searched for months for the best bed to meet my needs and taste. I wanted blue, i wanted fabric and I wanted a classy/mid century look. I usually never buy anything without reading all wonderful reviews and I never write a review but this bed needed me as I needed it.

It is beautiful, strong and was a great price. The customer service was very attentive and pleasing to deal with. The bed was not only delivered on time but was assembled and the crew was very nice and careful.

Highly recommend this bed if you are hesitant to buy don’t be!!.

What a work of art! The Coaster Gray Foundation that I received from 1StopBedroom is beautiful! I was hesitant ordering a Foundation online without seeing it first in a store, but I couldn’t be more pleased.

The delivery men were very efficient in getting the Gray Foundation up my 2nd floor stairs without a problem. Thank you 1StopBedroom for having such a beautiful collection of Coaster Foundation.

Who knew you should get a new box spring, when purchasing a new mattress! I love my new mattress I bought in July but realized something wasn’t quite right. It was the simple fact that my box spring was also 15 years old.

The day I brought this home, the underlining on the bottom was ripped (was noted by the attendant; presumably from handling at the warehouse). Several days later, my daughter stood on the bed to change a lightbulb in her ceiling.

As she was getting down, one of the cross-boards in the foundation completely snapped in half. Very disappointed.

I have a number of issues which prevent me from having a good night’s sleep: Neuropathy in my feet, which is caused by lower back and spine issues, and restless leg syndrome. So indeed, I needed a GOOD mattress and foundation.

And the Beautyrest Twin Box Foundation has turned this man into Sleeping Beauty!.

It would be nice to provide some descriptive details such as how it is constructed, material, pictures showing the interior, how far apart are the slats if there are any, is there any padding on the structure.

Therefore, I won’t even waste more time. Didn’t see info if 2 heights are available or not.

Love love love it. Will Never buy another type of mattress again! No more back, hip and shoulder pain. Most nights sleep all night without waking.

Satisfied with this product. Not satisfied with the 8 weeks it took to receive it. Not satisfied with delivery.
