20 Best Football Cleats For Speed (2023 Updated)

Ok, I have literally dozens (and I mean DOZENS) of Nike athletic shoes ranging from running shoes to court shoes to cross trainers. These by far run smaller than any other Nike shoe I have ever owned.

Typically I get my runners 1/2 to one full size up as our feet tend to slide forward during long distance runs. I read as many reviews as I could find for these Court Air Zoom GP Turbos before deciding to order them one full size up (I normally wear 8.

5 and ordered these in 9. 5) and I’m so glad I did. Although the length is perfect (thank goodness I ordered one size up) they are VERY tight width-wise to the point the front of my feet & toes became completely numb while I was on the court.

Granted, I’ve worn them only two times since receiving them but I’ve never had this problem with any of my other Nikes. That said, I will keep pushing forward because although they are a bit too tight right now, I feel a good break-in period will help.

I’m also going to try and slightly stretch them. For reference, I have narrow-to-medium width feet (not wide at all) so if you’re on the fence definitely go one size up or find a different shoe altogether.

These shoes are gorgeous. love the color and style and have already received several compliments but I had to deduct one star for the sizing.

I’ve worn the Nike vapor carbon series cleats since I was old enough to play football and as long as they’ve been coming out since. These are by far the absolute worst cleats I’ve ever worn. They will give you MAJOR blisters on your heels, regardless of if you wear multiple socks, blister protection, etc.

if you have even slightly wide feet, they will squish your feet together and you’ll sprain the joints on the top of your feet. Nike should pay me extra money to even return these. DO NOT BUY THEM. Nike, do yourselves a favor and bring back the original zoom vapor carbon cleats.

I really love these shoes. They’re exactly what I was looking for. Comfy and cute! I’m a women’s 5. 5/6 and ordered a 5Y. However, within 2 hours of wearing them I noticed my right heel feels like it compress a little more than the left when I walk and when I took my AirPods out I could hear the right one squeak like I stepped on a rubber ducky.

I was wearing them on an indoor track so nothing could’ve punctured them. I’m not sure if this is a common issue but I like them, and they’re comfy so I’m going to stick with them. I’ll most likely buy another pair when these get run down.

Per my son, the cleats are very comfortable, light, and durable. He had a great 1st game last week, and this his Senior year. He got 21 tackles and 18 of them being solo tackles.

One of the best cleats I’ve ever worn! HOWEVER, after 2 games, the soles have worn to nothing and I’ve torn the entire flynit to pieces(I’ve already sewed them back up the first and second game). They ripped open again today and I’m just wondering if anyone’s hasn’t ripped? Everyone on my HS team has the same cleats and not one shoe is in good condition.

Once again these cleats are perfect in every aspect but durability.

My boy loved his shoe just hope this COVID gets eliminated so they can play. Especially coming off a season they had last year and he was only a freshmen. He is training very hard to hopefully play this year.

He is very excited to use the shoe and he really loves the style and is amazed how light the shoe is. Great job and mahalo.

Note: I have been running distance for 1 year, and this was the second pair of shoes I owned. I really like this shoe for several reasons! It’s a lightweight shoe and I feel fast in it, I’ve set many PR’s in this shoe! I seem to prefer shoes that let you run more naturally, and this one totally feels natural.

Like I said I’m fairly new to running, but the low drop aspect of this shoe seems to really agree with me. I have several times began to develop a slight blister on the outside of my big toe (right foot only) from it rubbing against the side of the shoe – different socks seem to have helped that though.

I also seem to get injuries in this shoe when running high-distance. It isn’t the most well cushioned shoe out there. I have knee pain, sometimes ankle pain (shoe doesn’t have good ankle support), and calf strains.

HOWEVER, being this is my first year running and I train hard (not just moderate recreational jogging but actual training) I can’t say for 100% that ANY of those things are due to this shoe, as they may just be from my legs being new.

I’d guess the knee issues could be alleviated by using a more cushioned shoe at least though. But this shoe feels GREAT.

I too am a Nike Free fly knit junkie. I have been running in free fly knits for years now. Unfortunately, I also got some minor knee issues. It wasn’t the Nikes that did it! It was wearing down those frees to a nub until they would not run anymore.

So I decided for a while to run with more cushion and even was thinking I needed to change brands. That’s when I went to NIke. Com and found the Nike Free RN distance. It was perfect it combined the needed cushioning with light weight agility.

I also bought a pair of air Pegasus to alternate with that pair with the zebra print. My Nike Free RN distance are the volt ones with the Persian design on them. Those shoes are mad for the long haul on the rode.

My knee issues are gone and taught me a lesson about overdoing the running! I saw these reviews on this shoe and I would suggest some of these guys pair this shoe with the Nike elite socks FEELS LIKE HEAVEN.

I didn’t buy the RN milers from Nike, at the time another online retailer (beep-beep) beat there price. I’m telling you this, If you like the Nike free line but want more cushion or a nicer ride!!! NIKE FREE RN Distance.

I will go back to the NIKE FREE regular ones but will pair them with this shoe. So far its about the best I have had and that includes the Nike free fly knit V3. Only complaint is the little black scuff protector at the bottom of the shoe is coming off.

******WOW! just WOW*****!! HAvE YOU EVER WALKED ON CLOUDS????? Well I HAVE!!! FREE RN DISTANCE – a mix of clouds, buttery soft pillows, and goose down/memory foam all wrapped up around your feet – its like you’re litrerally wearing goose / sheep wool macasins, but even somehow more comfotable.

im 30yrs old. i had some cheap nikes from an outlet and figured ( well my lady said ” time for new shoes babe, thers holes in those”) it was time to upgrade. Chico at the Carlsbad outliet Nike store was just great (this kid deseres a raise and a vacation) i am seriously considering going back and ordering 20 pairs so i never have the misfoutune of having to wear anothter shoe other than the RN DISTANCE.

i will be wearing this shoe till the day i die. well done, Nike!! and again, GOLF SHOE IN THIS LOWER WOULD TAKE OVER THE WORLD!!!.

Although the designs are a little plain, these shoes work well with a lot of different styles of clothing. The shoe itself is very comfortable and has some memory foam material on the sides as well as a very thin tounge.

The back part has a little mesh-like material. What I noticed is that the shoe has many different types of materials combined to get the perfect fit. As someone with flatter feet, it did not cause me problems after a long day of walking and doing activities outside.

It is a litte tricky to break in for some people at first, but for me it fit fine the first time I tried them on. Just because this shoe doesn’t have as many reviews doesn’t mean it’s a bad pick. Very nice shoes for casual wear, off-court basketball, and I even take these to the gym sometimes.

10/10 definitely recommend!.

I had the gum-colored sole on the last pair. Excellent durability, traction, and cushioning. The downside is they feel a bit clunky relative to other shoes on the market. For a wide-ish foot, the toe box breaks in after awhile.

I was swapping out insoles to control the volume of the shoe. Availability of this shoe is much better than Asics during the pandemic. I have some foot issues, and I don’t know if it gets better than this shoe for that,.

Bought for a 10 yr old for flag football, they are ridiculously hard to get on. We used them for the season, I thought equally they’d loosen up and get easier and I was wrong. They could have worked for another season of play because they held up but I’d rather spend half the price for a different pair or cleats that are easier to put on and get off.

I hate that ghost lace design. Horrible concept. Never again.

We bought these shoes last minute about two weeks ago. They are great and Academy offered the best price. Ordered them online and had them by game time. Excellent speedy delivery. Bought the same kind of shoe for both my 8 year old son and husband as they both play on football teams.

I also noticed several of the guys on my husband’s team own them as well. Great buy!.

I love these cleats. They’re a bit snug and take a while to form to my feet, so I was initially worried that they were too small, but they’re the right width. They are very sturdy and provide a lot of support.

Excellent traction in grass, but less so on patchy fields or turf. I got the white, and I’ve gotten so many compliments!.

My little nephew just joined a football team. And he needed some cleats. So I noticed 5 of the other boys on the team had this pair. I asked where did they mom buy there cleats? They said Academy. I also asked “Were they comfortable?” They said yes.

So today I went online and bought them for my nephew.

Good basic cleat for high school football. Skill position players especially. Held up well through summer practice and week one.

These cleats fit well and my son has said he feels he can cut better with these on. They seem to be holding up well so far. They’re comfortable.

The cleats are sturdy, light and responsive. The stability of the shoe is awesome. I am so happy that I have the cleats.

Ordered Adidas cleats, what arrived were a USED pair New Balance that were an obvious return prior. Whoever shipped them didn’t even double check product before shipping. Luckily a local LS store were nice enough to issue a refund.

Ended up finding them from a different supplier. Huge disappointment, thanks for asking!!.

What’s up with LU selling and miss leading people with “football” cleats as lacrosse cleats? My 14 y/o ordered these cleats and the Adidas tag clearly states “Football”. We kept them, for August Football season.

But why is LU doing this?.

I ordered the Adidas Adizero 8. 0 Football Cleats for my grandson, and, he was very pleased with the product. The cleats fit him perfectly and they were exactly what he was wanting. Also, this was an easy transaction and the item was shipped immediately.

I had the previous version of this same cleat and they work great. But why did they put emoji’s all over this shoe?!? If you buy the black pair you are intentionally trying to find cleats that are not going to stand out.

Instead they put these emojis all over the back. Adidas might as well sell a clown nose and wig to pair with the shoes. This is a fail on the design / marketing department.

I bough the cleats because I’m a football official and need cleats for grass fields. Definitely helps in the rain and mud. The shoe is very lightweight and helps me be able to move up and down the field, as well as very comfortable.

I thought we were buying a new product. Bottom of cleats were green, basically they were used. And sides had marks. Very disappointed. Should have been clear these were not new.

Never owned a pair of Adidas cleats that felt like nothing were on my feet. Typically I’ve been a Nike guy but these might have gotten my attention more than I thought they would have.

Great product in fact I am going to purchase another pair for games. They are super light and very durable.

I bought these several months ago expecting to have to replace them once the season started. Boy was I wrong!! My 7 year old son has worn them six days a week for football practice and game day. A quick wipe and they are good as new.

Perfect cleats for multiple positions. Wear them as high tops for lineman to keep your ankles from being stepped on or flip them to mid tops for more flexibility for skill positions.

Great wear! Comfortable! Nice support! A little difficult in putting on if you have a wide foot.

I usually love Nike running shoes. Pegasus – love. Lunarglide – love. Free Distance RN – love not so much. Before I bought the Distance RN, I did my research and most reviews found that the Distance RN is a well-cushioned and fairly stable pair of shoes.

Well I can’t say I seem to agree with the reviews. I really wanted to like the shoe but I couldn’t! I’m a muscular guy in a short frame but used to running in general. All of my long runs never felt right.

The shoes always felt like they always shifting all over. I had lace them really tightly in order for them to feel secure. The shoes never felt cushioned enough for me as my feet would feel a bit sore after some runs of 4-6 miles.

I had to stop using the shoes altogether after just doing a tempo workout of 400m. My left heel was aching and I’ve been out of commission for +2 weeks. I do like the responsiveness of the shoes and the look of it on the street for casual wear.

You’ll never catch me running in them ever again though.

These were originally designed for up to 10k races, and I can attest these were great for shorter races. As a heavy runner (over 215 lbs), I needed more cushioning but didn’t want to use my Vomeros for short distances.

This “Free RN Distance” was lightweight yet could withstand my pounding, even if only for shorter runs. For others like me, I strongly suggest you consider this shoe. But, I wasn’t a fan of the “soft” heel that was mostly mesh with very little support.

I wish an updated version of this (with the new Nike Free pattern sole) would come out with a more constructed heel. And while we’re at it, a new “Free Train Versatility” shoe with Lunarlon cushioning would be AWESOME!!!.
