20 Best Fog Machine For Photography (2023 Updated)

Overall: This machine is awesome! Strong output and good colors. Kind of loud when set off due to the amount of pressure to push the fog out, but runs quiet when in the heating stage. Very easy to set up and use.

Remote control has 4 options (which I’m told can be customized, but I simply use the preset colors). and has good range. Good size fogger juice tank and doesn’t seem to use a lot. Unfortunately, after about 3 nights of usage (about 15 hours of use), it began to go off on it’s own without pushing the button and if the button was pushed it would continue spraying even after the button was released.

The return was easy – they emailed me a label and as soon as they received confirmation it was on it’s way, they shipped a replacement to me. Although a hassle, with the quick turn around time, I shouldn’t be without it.

Bought these to be able to offer my clients a grand entrance but they have so many uses. Perfect for a co2 look when paired with the correct fluid. Check out all the YouTube videos you wont be disappointed.

Nice because its a smaller footprint but the output is still very good. Very simple to use and easy to setup. It does have DMX control option which I use. For my application the manual remote is not an option and I hate those wireless remotes as far as reliability.

These are great for club and small to medium sized venues. If you were going to use it outdoors you would need more than one.

After 5 years of steady weekend use, my Antari Z-1200 II had clogged up to the point of no output. I looked into buying a new heater element for it, but the cost of the Antari heater core was more than an entirely new Chauvet Hurricane 1600.

I decided to give the Chauvet a try. I gave it a quick test before taking it to a gig. It worked great at home. I liked how the container was illuminated to indicate when it was warming up and when it was ready.

20 minutes into the gig it stopped heating up. It still tried to produce fog for a while before shutting the pump off. This resulted in spewing fog juice out of the nozzle since it wasn’t hot enough to vaporize.

I sent it back in exchange for a new one. I took it to a gig and the same exact failure happened. It stopped heating up after 20 minutes. The light stays red the whole time which means the controller was calling for heat.

I suspect what’s happening is the core is overheating thus tripping a safety thermal trip- much like a circuit breaker. I returned the second one for credit and went back to Antari. Fool me once. I give it two stars because I like the design, and the illuminated tank.

it just need to actually work reliably. I give KPODJ 5 stars for their excellent handling of the returns.

I’m giving it 3 stars because for the price it did perform, but note; this is definitely a very lower-end model. It is built well and everything has a good solid feel and is simple to set-up and use.

It comes with enough fog fluid to fill the entire tank up and a bit left over and I used very little during the time it was operating. It did put out good thick fog, but unfortunately, it didn’t operate very long, maybe 8-10 minutes, before overheating and shutting itself down.

It took about 15 minutes to cool down enough to start again, but only worked for about 3-4 minutes, then shut down again and so on. It seemed to take longer to cool down and put out fog for less time each time cycle.

I bought the unit to produce fog for a studio photo shoot, which it did in a limited capacity, so the shoot was quite hindered by the start/stop overheating issues of the unit. I was paying a model and studio time and had 3 other photographers there, so needless to say we were quite disappointed that we didn’t get the shots we had hoped for.

Again, for very light and minimal usage this unit will be okay.

It is small and compact and heats up fairly quickly. I was a little confused with the remote and operation. It really struggles to keep a big room in a house full of haze when HVAC is running. I still think it’s a fairly good value.

This is a small unit. It heats up quick and puts out a nice little fog. It takes about a minute to charge up between “breaths”. Not sure that the fog solution that comes with it, is an issue, or if it just doesn’t put out the thickest fog because of its size.

I will experiment with different mixes. But for the price, if you’re just looking for a fun effects generator for personal home use, great product. If you’re using in a professional capacity, better put out a little more coin.

Pretty disappointed in the item. The fog is fine, but it is advertised as having a wireless “timer”. It’s not a timer. It is just a wireless remote. I bought it because I was under the impression it came with I timer.

The machine does me no good if I can’t set it up to run on its own.

There is no good location for this on the unit and in most places that this type of equipment is used, I would expect it to be lost or broken in about 2 weeks (machine will still function on DMX though) I bought 2 NIB and 1 was faulty (control issue) They can develop leaks Verdict I wouldn’t recommend this product, so why did I buy 2? Well, they were more compact and easier to use inverted than competitors versions and with excellent smoke/light output, so just what I needed for a specific job.

Also when the remotes and receivers are lost or broken, I will just use them on DMX.

This was a needed upgrade / replacement from the Led softeen ,. this is a monster of machine really is surprisingly good. using with dense fluid iI achieve outdoor Coverage my 30m by 30m garden space with a nice haze for my various lasers light n effects after couple blasts from this beast.

Bought to replace an old 400 watt machine, so much more powerful! Fills the room with a couple of blasts. Especially like the wireless remote

I bought this unit to replace my Fog Fury Faze which died. I have to say that this unit is superior to the Fog Fury, simply due to the level of control you have over the smoke output. Be under no illusion, this IS a smoke machine, but the controls on the unit allow a very fine control of output, from 1% to 100% smoke (a little to a lot) and this combined with the timing options for interval between smoke output and duration of smoke production means that you can tailor output to just enough.

The unit does clean pipes too, which hopefully will prolong the life of the heater element – there are specific instructions in the manual around this. The flap at the front allows you some control over the direction of output from directly ahead to almost 90 degrees up in the air which is useful and the unit can also be mounted overhead using the bracket, although I always use smoke machines at ground level from a safety point of view.

The unit functions very well and adjusting controls will allow you to refine for every venue. There is one weak point and that is the fluid / pipe connector on the front of the fluid reservoir. This is exposed and highly vulnerable to to catching something in transit and breaking off – you have been warned.

Obviously with care in transport and use you should be fine. I can’t find a suitable flight case at a sensible price for this unit to help with protection in transit, similarly I wouldn’t want to transport in a soft bag due to the risk of the reservoir connector getting broken! One other issue that surprised me was the captive power supply and no IEC connection, this somewhat limits positioning, but if you remove the plug and fit a male IEC on the end that should suffice – but will probably invalidate the guarantee! I am happy with this purchase, the control over output is very good, but the product loses one star due to the exposed delicate reservoir connection and the captive power supply.

Apart from that it’s a great unit.

Great unit I mount on a tee bar under my Kinta FX & Pocket Pro scanners. Throws out enough haze on minimum setting to give a great effect – 100 percent is too much. Needless to say the haze fluid lasts forever.

The P5 is a great mid level DJ effect for giving your show some extra flair. It has a decent warm up time and it’s really easy to program. The remote receiver does not show green when ready though. I have heard this is pretty common with the receiver and I can’t understand why this isn’t corrected from Chauvet.

This unit also does not have a blue / red indicator led in the tank to let you know when the unit is ready to fire. The only way to tell if the unit is ready is by the control panel. In most other foggers, If the tube gets clogged or there’s an air bubble the led indicator blinks to give you a warning so I don’t know why Chauvet left out this feature.

Other than that I am happy with the unit.

This is the best most affordable continuous fogger sold! If you need lots of thick fog that never ends this is the machine g for you. I own three of these fog machines and would not consider buying any other.

This machine can be operated through DMX or has an extremely good control of that comes with it.

Bought this having read the reviews, however after a couple of uses have found it not as good as my previous fog/smoke machine despite the wattage and output being more. Fog produced doesn’t seem to pick up the lighting effects in the same fashion.

Could be the output level and the area coverage means that it fails to pick up moving heads situated near to it whereas my previous 900w smoke machine gave less distance and hence the drift of fog was more towards the lighting effects.

Power cable supplied is very much on the short side!.

This is my second unit. I used them running on continuous in my front yard at Halloween. Both run through homemade chillers made from 5 gal buckets. They put out an amazing amount of fog all not. People are always amazed by it and the kids love the low lying fog in our grave yard.

This machine is okay. But, I previously had the Chauvet 1300, which died on me. I was torn, whether to replace it with the 1200, or the 1600(because they no longer make the 1300 – which was a BEAST).

Well, I now wish I’d spent the extra money for the 1600, because my “now extinct” 1300 SMOKED(no pun intended) this 1200. It had at least twice the output of the 1200. All that said, the 1200 is fine for DJs or small rooms, but if you need a large room completely filled in 30 seconds, spend the extra money for the bigger machine.

I bought several of these since I had some of this model previously. They have apparently updated the model, and made a few cosmetic changes. One of those changes is a shorter cord for the fog controller.

Much shorter! The cord used to be probably 10 ft long, and now it is more like 6. So you can’t get very far away from the machine to hit the fog button. Another change must be an internal one since I’ve had trouble with all of these actually producing fog reliably.

The instruction manual now tells you if you have problems you are to rotate the fog machine 45 degrees. That works for a little bit and then it quits shooting fog until you rock it back and forth. They have taken a solid fog machine and turned it into junk.

This fog machine was a huuuuuuuge success. Ya see, I incorporated it into a concrete sculpture for a group installation we had. I easily mounted it into an eight inch diameter concrete cylinder and faced it to blow out the top opening.

It was incredible how people responded to it. It has a trigger button attached to a long cord. It worked perfectly and every push was a holler. I WILL be buying more stuff from this company. I have a million ideas and the success I experienced with this one made it easy for me.

I ran constant fog for days and days now and still on the first tank full of fluid. Less than a liter easily. It’s water based, so it’s safe for indoor use which is where I used it. It will not set off any smoke detectors because if it didn’t for me, it won’t for you.

Buy, buy, buy and enjoy pushing that button.

As the description says at the bottom, where I didnt read it, it does say that the remote control is Permanently Wired. That translates to, You cant use a timed remote. You have to push a button on the wired remote every time you want fog from this machine.

I dont usually stand there with the remote in hand. Rather, I have several Timer Controls which plug into what I thought was the standard portal. This thing is impractical unless you plan on standjng there with it.

My bad for not reading the entire description. I saw Wired Remote Control and thought it was the typical version, not a Wireless Remote, which I already have and dont use because I want my foggers on timers! So would I recommend this? No.

Is it a good value? Not if I cant use it how I want to. Is it enjoyable? Uh, no.

On my second year and it’s working great. I use it outdoors and on nights with little wind it really fogs up the area. It ends up creating somewhat of a fog bank down the whole block and cars will literally slow down when they come down my street.

For indoors it rocks. Will fog up a big room in no time. I tape down the control button so it will come on automatically when ready. Puts out about 30 seconds, then re heats about 2 minutes. Love it!.

Was excited to get this for Halloween but when unboxed realized you have to press the button each time you want fog. Not sure why there wasn’t a timer designed into it. Otherwise it does work really well producing nice thick fog.

But had to return it.

I usually don’t like to invest in larger foggers because they aren’t a huge part of our show and I couldn’t justify spending a ton of money on something we don’t use all the time. This was in my price range and it outperformed my expectations.

It was a little larger than I was expecting but still a manageable size. holds a LOT of fog juice!.

Bought this fogger to supplement a larger fogger for a High School prom being held in a large Gym. Worked as I’d expect. The warm up time was about 2 minutes compared to the one minute of the larger fogger, so fogging required waiting until both foggers had warmed up/reheated after fogging.

I used a low lying fog in this fogger while using Black Label Ray tracer in the bigger fogger. Between the two I was able to have the lighter fog help illuminate the beams from the lights, while the lower lying fog gave more of the “cloud” ambiance that was requested.

Used alone I think this fogger would be a great fogger for small to medium venues which periodic fogging was ok for the effect that youre looking for.

I take my fog machine out of retirement every October and start thinking about my trick-or-treat set up! Fall is my favorite season and Halloween is my favorite holiday, besides Christmas. 😉 Every year I use my fog machine, skeletons, and spider webs to create a spooky pathway that leads to a big bowl of candy on my front porch.

It’s a blast watching the kids faces when they see the fog, some are hesitant to even walk through it, but in the end they do it for the candy 😂 It makes the experience for the kids even more mystical and memorable! If you pass out candy for trick-or-treaters I definitely recommend adding this to your set up!.

Way better quality than i expected. Easy to use. My only complaint is that is so powerful, that for if you plan to record and use the fog machine, it’s not going to be easy. Maybe a more precise remote would help.

Pros: Efficient,Easy Setup,Solid Build Seriously amazing output. This fogger was being used with two Antari Fazers. My fazers were out of fluid, and I didn’t even know it! This was in a 3000 sq. ft venue.

The only negative I can think of is that it goes through fog juice quickly. But if you are wanting those types of results. that’s what will happen!!!.

and if you don’t have the wheels its pretty heavy with the water. Next it takes a long time to heat the water and after it starts smoking kids want to come touch it but it’s PIPING HOT. That’s not a CON just a precaution.

NOW DRUM ROLL PLEASE. 30 pounds of dry ice @ 1. 65 per pound = $49. 50. I placed half or app 15 pounds in the tray and put it on full blast and it didn’t even cover a 30ft diameter. and to top it off the most important part is that it only lasted 5 MINUTES!!!! The NEWLY WEDS that were suppose to be dancing on a cloud were laughing at the machines output for their first dance.

The DJ Nimbus Dry Ice machine is very helpful for weddings and other events where you need the cloud effect. I do recommend before being to be aware of the size. The size does not exemplify the true size of the machine.

It works well and be sure to have at least 10-15 pounds of dry ice for proper effect.

Purchased this unit to use to enhance the look of our lights at school dances. I was concerned about setting off smoke alarm, so used it very carefully. The timer that came with the unit worked very well to allow us to put out just enough fog to haze the lights for effect but controlled so not to flood the room.

Worked perfectly!! Lights looked amazing, and no alarms going off. Unit worked on the timer (on and off) the 3 hours of the dance. Unit never got hot, and used very little fog juice, I think this unit will be a very effective and useful tool for our weddings as well.

I have been DJing weddings and school dances for years and stop using fog a long time ago mainly because it was hard to control ( too much or too little), and the potential problems with smoke alarms.

I’m so glad I tried this unit. With a little careful effort I was able to “haze the lights” for effect without effecting the clarity in the room, and no alarms going off!! ADJ Fog Fury Faze gets a top rating from me! The unit is also very well built, quite operation, and has a cool light up removable tank, The only negative thing I can say is that it comes with cheap light weight power cable which I substituted for a heavier duty one.

The unit is 700 watts, I know that’s not huge, but come on ADJ, some of your low wattage led light come with a heavier cable! All and all, I’m very satisfied and impressed with the units quality and performance.

When I first set this machine up and plugged it in, I got a shock when it got to temperature. It immediately started pumping out fog and immediately set off my smoke detectors. So, I started again and this time, I diluted the fluid, reduced the duration and increased the interval timer.

Then it worked really well. I just want a fine mist to enhance band lights so no think fog necessary. I use high quality fog fluid and when I dilute 50/50, it is more than enough for what I want. The hang time is really good and I love the effect which is more like a Hazer.

No thick clouds of fog – just a nice fine hang in the air. I like the fact the tank lights up to show red or green and that it is removable. The remote cord is crazy long too.

This is a great ‘faze’ machine – it uses water-based fog juice but is equipped with a fan so the output is like a hazer (these use oil-based fluid). I use it with ADJ Fog Juice 1 (Light) and it gives a great atmosphere that shows the beams off very well.

I really like the removable fluid tank and I think illuminating it to show the status is a great idea. The included timer remote is good too – although I would have preferred a wireless timer remote or, even better, DMX control.

It’s on a long cable already but it is possible to extend it if you use the correct type of cable. I use the fazer in both DJ and amateur theatre settings and it’s been fantastic, though getting the balance between interval and output duration takes some skill to ensure the amount of atmosphere on stage is kept the same!.

I purchased the ADJ furt JEtt Pro Fogg machine becuase of its light function and capability. I’ve used this for music videos live shows and events and this machine is the life of the party. It’s fun and produces a lot of fog ! 45,000 cubic square feet per minute to be exact! The only issue I habe is the fog machine is quote loud but you can control that with the dxm controller but without it you really cant do much without that controller.

This fog machine works best if you get the dxm controller it’s got way too many options you’ll have mood lighting for days ! Never will you get bored of this machine ! It’s a fair price very sturdy machine I’ve banged it up in my car transporting it too and from video shoots and the receiver is still intact the tubing is still good the lights are extremely high quality ! Everything about this machine is amazing ! I cant thank suggest it enough ! In fact I did recommend my bar purchase 2 for events and they did so between mine we have 3 of these and to be honest we only need to utilize 1 for fog and utilize the other 2 for lighting purposes.

But after my first gig, I love this machine. I had an older fog machine that quit on me. I wanted a machine I could command remotely and would be reliable. I can say that this fog machine has really impressed me by the volume of fog it produces along with the color it infuses into the fog.

Not to mention that it comes with a remote to trigger the fog machine remotely!.
