Best Flowering Perennials For Sun (2024 Updated)

Beautiful plant. I opened it as soon as I got it home and the plant was very healthy. Has new growth. The plant had been watered. I was very pleased. Planted it and can’t wait to watch it grow.

I love Gaillardia flowers, and these seeds, like ALL the seeds I’ve purchased from True Leaf, had 100% germination and they have grown into big strong plants. The bees love them, the butterflies love them, and so do I.

Still too cold here to plant outside but will start inside shortly. Can’t wait to see the blooms!

Always happy with the seeds I get from trueleaf. Germination was pretty quick on these.

I bought a dormant Cherry Tree and have been so pleased with the specimen but do not purchase Hydrangea’s from this company. They are small and it will be a good 5 years before they can even be considered worthy of the price being charged.

They replaced 1 that completely died and it is struggling. This will be the 3rd review I have posted because they are not approved and people need to know not to waste their money.

IšverstiShow in original languageSo far so good. Shipping was fast and the packing of the plant was solid. I didn’t put it in the ground for a couple days and just watered it in its bucket as per the included instructions.

It’s been planted for a little over a week now. It’s healthy and the 2 or 3 little flowers have already started to turn blue. I water daily and am glad I paid up for the 3 gal, most mature plant. Would I recommend this plant to family and friends? I would.

I’m excited to see its growth rate andI think it’s gonna end up being a nice looking little shrub.

These came with very large roots and a good number of eyes. I planted them as soon as the weather permitted. They’re quickly sprouted leaves, and I think that at least some are developing flower buds now, less than a month after being planted.

The weather has returned to being quite cold, but these are hardy plants, and don’t seem to be bothered by that. The shady places I found for them are fairly sheltered, but I’m sure that more tender plants wouldn’t survive being outside this week.

I generally have never been disappointed ordering from this company. I was well pleased when the 5 bleeding hearts came in with big roots and viable 3 inch start on the plant already. This proved they are viable and not some dried up ” dormant” roots I have gotten from other sellers.

I cannot wait to see them this spring. They were well packed and appeared to have fresh peat moss protecting them. I would recommend this product to a friend. As a caveat, order early so you will get them fresh and not three months later when they might be dried up roots.

I planted the bleeding hearts last year and was surprised they came up so quickly. Bloomed and grew vigorously their first year. In the fall I had tend to a tree in the area where I’d planted them and accidentally stepped on some of them.

I figured it was lights out for them, but they survived! Very hardy!.

Arrived neatly packed. Not one limb was broken. Full and round as pictured. Buds are closed for now but will open soon. Just what I wanted. It has been 6 days since they arrived, and buds have not opened yet.

But the plants are not in full sun. They need FULL sun to open and thrive. So I will move them.

Little to none. I used to kill house plants. I have attempted to grow roses in my yard and had a little success. Then I was able to grow and train a Jasmine across my front porch. It was pretty and smelled heavenly.

Then we had a pipe break in front yard which killed everything in the ground including the grass. To this day everything is in pots.

I ordered the spring pack which comes with a variety mix of 8 bulbs and out of those 8 bulbs I only got 3 colors: 3 yellow, 2 white and 2 orange and 1 that didn’t bloom at all, as the buds dried up in infancy.

Compared to the ad photo, even compared to Danielle’s photo, I didn’t end up with a very good color mix. I expected at least one red and one pink in a mix of 8 bulbs, even if there were some repeat colors.

Very disappointed. They’re pretty, but too much repetition of same colors as compared to what’s advertised or even what other buyers share photos of. So, I don’t recommend this 8 bulb spring mix of Hardy Perennial Lilies to anyone; the fall order with 10 might be better, but you should be suspicious that you won’t get a good spread of colors.

Photos are attached. I carefully marked where each bulb was with a white plastic knife so I could specifically check their performance.

IšverstiShow in original languageI was a little disappointed initially since the first several flowers are all deep pink, although the size of their blooms is great, much larger than my neighbors’. Then two weeks later, I noticed deep red, brought yellow, orange, several striped patterns, and fringed petal styles.

All of the flowers are easily 4-5 inches when fully open, and I can see at least 75 flowers or flower buds. The only downside would be missing cold color varieties, such as those in the blue and purple color range.

Overall I am very satisfied.

IšverstiShow in original languageI ordered the perennial tulip mix in Fall 2020 and planted them in a 4×4 raised garden bed with 2 inches mulch on top. The winter in New England is harsh. I was worried that it wouldn’t survive the winter or the bulbs could have been rotting in melting snow.

None of the worries are necessary. They came out in early April of 2021 and they look so much more beautiful and majestic than the tulip from garden center. The flowers are so much bigger. Lets see if they come back as strong next year.

IšverstiShow in original languagePlanted these with my daughter last fall in our front garden beds (southern exposure, zone 6A) shortly after she turned 4. We dug a few wide trenches and she scattered 3 bags of bulbs around and covered them with mulch; we left them undisturbed all winter.

They are coming up reliably with large, long-blooming flowers and strong stems, and have survived a late snowstorm and hail. The colours are lovely, and everyone who walks by the house comments on how nice they look.

We have a rabbit problem, so I spray them with a commercial, organic, egg and cinnamon repellant regularly. We are zone 6A.

I was surprised and delighted to see my 3-gallon Aphrodite Rose of Sharon Althea Shrub! It was packed so well it had every limb and leaf intact. After it sat out in my Houston summer for 3-4 days, I had to remove some dead blooms.

I purchased the root stimulator and potting soil so I am hoping for beautiful blooms soon. It is planted in a container because the ground is pretty wet from our recent rains. (Really!) I will post pictures as the shrub begins to bloom.

So far I am thrilled.

The plants came in looking good but- after following directions for planting- it is showing signs of stress and not blooming. I plan to treat it with Super Thrive in a few days. I contacted your tech experts and I have followed their advice, but at the present time I am skeptical as to survival prospects.

I would normally wait to recommend the product one way of another but since I am required to answer yes or no below, I will try to retain a positive attitude.

I was so impressed by the way Michigan Bulb straightened out a problem I had with the order. I really wanted these primroses, it’s late spring but the weather has been conducive in that it’s still very cold, but when the package arrived, it was completely different plants.

I was so disappointed !! I called Michigan Bulb immediately and believe it or not, the very next day the corrected order arrived. They are in the bed and are thriving. THANK YOU MICHIGAN BULB, not only for your excellent product but for the way you fixed the mistake.

These add some long lasting color to my shade garden as it’s waking up in the spring. When I got them last year they were little more than sticks with a few soggy leaves. I planted them in a mostly shaded garden that stays moist and cool enough for moss growth.

Figured this harsh winter would finish them off, but 2 out of 3 came back with a vengeance. I’d like to get more to add some more color throughout the bed.

These flowers are so nice I can’t stop watching. They were so small when arrived, I was afraid that nothing would happen. April came, and now they are one of the main attractions of my garden.

My Phenomenal Lavender arrived in perfect condition. Per the directions, we waited for several days before planting. The plants are good size and already look beautiful. We are looking forward to seeing how they fare over the winter and, hopefully, fill the space where we planted them.

We are zone 4b, so we did take a bit of a chance, depending on our research for zone 4 lavender. Some websites indicated that Phenomenal Lavender was a zone 4 plant. They are in a protected spot next to our house on the east side.

Compared to the horrible old overgrown shrubs we pulled out of there, these look amazing. Fingers crossed for over wintering.

Hello: You might get duplicate responses to this message as I will be sending the same message to the email address provided above. I placed order #10343 on June 11, 2019 – I received the order ten days later on June 21st, 2019.

I do not believe these plants were in ‘gallon’ pots – the pots look much smaller than that. Also, I was willing to pay more for these plants because I expected them to be much larger – I paid the same amount for the same size plants from a competitor of yours a few weeks ago BUT I receive 9 plants for the same price as your 3 plants.

Out of the box, the plants had browning occurring on their tips which extended approximately 2-3 inches down the stems. After receiving them, I put them in sunlight for a couple of hours then in shade for a couple of hours alternating this process to acclimate the plants to their new surroundings since they were in a box for a quite a while.

As of Sunday afternoon, one plant looks like it is nearly completely dead and the other two are not looking so hot themselves. This email is not meant to bash you guys at all. You have been very good responding to my email(s) and I believe that you truly want your business to be as successful as possible.

I’m just disappointed that I paid nearly triple the amount for plants that are struggling to survive after only a few days of their arrival, and the size of the plants seem a bit deceptive as per their description online.

All the plants I ordered came well packaged. They arrived without a single branch or leaf broken. I’ve already planted two roses and they are thriving. I haven’t yet planted the lavender but I am sure it will do well.

It is fluffy and healthy. Can’t wait to see it bloom.

I feel these were shipped too early for my zone 6a, received them March 6, even before the estimated ship date. Had to wait another 1. 5 weeks for the ground to thaw to plant them. We’ve had a cold spell this weekend and 3 of the 5 look pretty ragged.

The new leaves that were growing look frozen, bent and done. I hope they will survive. 2 other companies that carry the product don’t ship it until late April. I don’t get it.

I planted the Coral Bells around my new water feature in the front. It is a shade to partial shade area. I have more deer than people in the area it seems so I needed deer resistant plants. I have had them in the ground a month and they are doing OK.

No deer has touched them which suggests that they don’t like them or they haven’t discovered them yet. They haven’t taken off growing yet but they are also not dying. For now I have my fingers crossed that when it gets cooler here in the fall they will take off and grow.

They came in a little crispy. But I believe that’s because fedex. It was left on the truck too long. Other than that they are happily growing. I will continue buying from great garden. Great options ,great products ,good warranty.

This product delivered as promised in the fall of 2020. It was well packaged and arrived undamaged with only a slight amount of yellowing from transport stress. Yes, it was small but that was expected.

I over-wintered the bush in my zone 7 greenhouse and was careful to not allow it to freeze or go dormant. Obviously these were not the instructions and I can imagine that some would send the plant directly to the garden but this was my choice.

The plant perked and greened up after potting up and enjoyed the greenhouse. It’s now late May of 2021. The plant is well over 2 feet tall perhaps approaching 3 feet and is covered in ivory booms. I have no complaints whatsoever.

I had been searching local greeneries for white butterfly bushes with no luck. So I purchased two of these bushes for my front flower beds, hoping that they would be a focal point. But they were a bit small upon arrival that I decided to off center them in the beds.

My mistake because these bushes have grown tremendously in the past three months, and full of flowers already!.

I ordered this Buzz Butterfly Bush for a pollinator section of my garden. The price was very reasonable. It arrived small and healthy. I planted it on May 1 and today is June 27. The white flowers are ready to bloom and the foliage is a beautiful grey/green.

We have many critters due to the pond and woods on our property and so far none of them have been nibbling.

These are simply amazing. If you are looking for a plant it and forget it flower this is it!! I live in Maryland and I love these because they are super hearty. They take full hot blazing sun along walkways in the heart of summer and are exposed to salt in the winter, cleaning chemicals all during the seasons and they never fail to amaze me or my neighbors.

I get constant compliments and people are always stopping and asking about them. These continuously bloom from late spring to mid fall always boasting beautiful vivid golden flowers. They don’t require a lot of care at all very low maintenance almost none at all.

Every year they come back thicker, stronger, fuller with even more blooms and yet they stay neat looking. Their foliage looks like tall thick blades of grass. Every year I mow over them in late fall and they come back every spring like they were always there.

I highly recommend this flower if you have had problems with others before, these will surprise you.

Fed Ex delivered the 15 stellas I ordered 8 days after leaving the nursery. What I got was 8 with yellow stems/leaves and mushy roots. 7 seemed still viable. I planted all, but only 6 of the 7 survived.

The mushy 8 didn’t make it. Less than 50%.
