There are many types of flooring that can be used for slab foundation, including concrete, tile, stone, and hardwood. Each type of flooring has its own benefits and drawbacks, so it is important to choose the right type of flooring for your specific needs.
Concrete is one of the most popular choices for flooring on slab foundation, as it is durable and easy to maintain. However, concrete can be cold and hard to the touch, so it is not always the most comfortable option.
Tile is another popular choice for flooring on slab foundation, as it is easy to clean and maintain. However, tile can be slippery when wet and is not always the most comfortable option. Stone is a beautiful and luxurious option for flooring on slab foundation, but it is also one of the most expensive and difficult to install.
Hardwood is a classic choice for flooring on slab foundation, but it can be expensive and difficult to install.

I purchase 1700 square feet of this flooring from Sam’s Club and installed it myself. I am a DIY type person and have installed a lot laminate flooring over the years. The good, We like the style of the flooring.
It has a nice pad already installed. Once down it was noticeably quiet when walking on it, our previous laminate floor was noisy. The Bad, The locking system on this flooring is not as easy to use as advertised.
In fact it is very difficult and takes more time to install. The pieces do not lock together quite easy and takes a lot of flexing movement up and down to get it to go together. You need to check every piece for damage to the parts that click together, look for chips, and make sure the blue locking piece on the end of the planks has not fallen out.
You cannot use a tapping block at all. It chips extremely easy, so installing pieces under trim on door frames is very difficult. Planks are of a matte finish, but some are shinier than others. The ugly, We recently had a small water spill that was cleaned up in less than two minutes, now I have three pieces that are swelling on the edges.
so much for water resistance of 24 hours, more like 24 seconds. Warranty only covers replacement of the pieces, it’s up to you to replace them!.
My husband is super handy and has installed much more difficult flooring in the past. This was a complete struggle. Of course the first box he laid down went in perfect. After that it was a nightmare.
Big gaps between boards where they won’t stay together. The floor chipped and cracked when he tried to fix the issues. Of course at this point I have zero expectations that it will be protected from soils since it won’t seal right.
We bought this for my daughters room with the intention of doing the whole upstairs. Looks like we will have to find something else that is a similar color. Save yourself the time and go to a home improvement store.
Do not purchase this flooring! 1500 square feet. Entryway, living room, dining and kitchen. It bubbles and ripples within 3 hours of water exposure. Once that happens it’s like an instant sponge to every subsequent spill.
It chip, scratches and the surface wears off of there is any sort of traffic. Even in places where there was no furniture, the edges of the planks began showing white simply from being walked across.
This stuff was a massive disappointment and not worth an ounce of the energy I put into research and installation. Pursuing warranty from the manufacturer was a joke. Sam’s customer service was almost as bad.
Over a month of emails full of misinformation and and repeated attempts to get answers and I finally got through on the phone (overseas) and was issued a refund. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME ON THIS!.

I put this in my home a few years ago. Now I’m wishing I would have chosen a lighter wood that was dull – not glossy. It is very pretty and I like the unique mix of different tones on the different boards and everyone that comes into my home compliments the floor, but the gloss shows footprints and since it is a darker wood it also shows dirt almost immediatly after I clean it.
Now we are thinking about refinishing with a white wash with a dull finish. I do like the wide boards! If that does not bother you and you have to have this it is a quality product that is derible.
Purchased almost 9 years ago. We used through out the family room, hallways and foyer. Great contrast in grains and even color, there were some nice blond grain pieces. Wears okay, it will dimple from chair legs, consider furniture coasters.
We used area rugs. Ages nice too, subtle sun changes in areas where windows are. Also if you have never installed, highly recommend Pros to install. They are fast and really not that expensive.
In the end, the result is stunningly nice with brilliant color variation and a great finish. Overall, we are extremely happy with the finished product. However, the intallation was frustrating due to the random widths that ranged between 4-13/16″ to 5″.
This is the reduction of a star in our rating. The widths would be what I would expect in an odd lot as opposed to a select batch. Anyway, with the varying widths, these heavy, dense boards were shuffled around matching up widths which increased the labor dramatically.
For the installation tool of choice, we used a Bostich Finish Stapler w/ 2″ staples. This worked very well with only an occasional tongue split. Also, expect to go through some saw blades cutting this hard finish.

This is an excellent choice for vinyl flooring! Easy to work with, great quality and it looks fabulous in all areas of our house and in all lighting conditions. It was our first time working with vinyl plank flooring and we were never disappointed with the product throughout our installation.
We tore out all the carpets in the house and laid the plank flooring on the sub floor and over the lino in areas where there had been no carpet. Every room looks unbelievably beautiful now. bly beautiful>.
With real bamboo layered over a GeoCore limestone composite foundation, this low-maintenance floor features a stronger click-lock system that makes for quick and easy DIY installations. Truly a capstone color made to enhance any décor style, this floor glows from within with stunning gold toffee undertones.
Medium brown hardwood floors work in any space, and due to the limestone composite core, these planks perform in even high moisture environments like kitchens, bathrooms, and basements.
Are you looking for a flooring option that is easy to maintain and has a long-lasting feature? If yes, then opting for bamboo flooring will be an ideal decision to make. The bamboo floors are an excellent choice for flooring that promotes strength and durability.
They contain 14. 28 mm thickness which makes them durable in terms of strength and resistance against breaking. Furthermore, this flooring is easy to install. You can prefer the glue, float, or nail type to install these planks.
In addition, the planks are comfortable and will provide a relaxing foot relief when you walk on them. Also, you can additionally install an underlayment later as it supports the installable over cork underlayment.
Moreover, these are waterproof bamboo flooring that you can use in locations with a high moisture rate.
So we’re getting close to six months with the solid Java bamboo flooring, and it is just the most amazing flooring. It’s gorgeous for starters—we just love the tone, and the variation, from plank to plank and within them.
It also seems like it’ll last for 300 years. We have three energetic dogs, and we have yet to spot any signs of wear or scratching. We had engineered hardwood before, and our dogs just trashed those floors.
Also I can’t say enough about Cali. Steve Crane was fantastic to work with, and helped us to figure out precisely what we needed. We did have a few issues, and Steve and Cali got them resolved and really took care of us.
We also got the matching quarter rounds, which are very sharp, but they are trickier to install. This is probably common sense for more experienced installers, but you have to make sure they don’t glue the quarter rounds to a floating floor.
We had to pull some up, and made the mistake of acting too quickly (better to let the glue dry for a day), so we ended getting some markings on the finish. But we had more than enough to correct the most obvious areas and all is well now.
That’s probably one of the few ways that you can actually damage this flooring, because everything else, from dogs to wheeled chairs to daily wear & tear, isn’t touching them. We ended up installing the quarter rounds with pin nails, which mostly works well.
We also feel great about the flooring being low-VOC and more sustainable, particularly because this was very big project—we did just about the entire house. So for us the solid Java checks all the boxes.
But more than anything else, it looks great, and we can live on it; we don’t feel like we have to tiptoe around. Highly recommended!.
The flooring is just simply beautiful and seems pretty durable so far. I also love that it’s made of bamboo (seems more eco-friendly) and low VOC. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because it so easily shows any kind of dirt or shoe print.
We have a dog and a young child so got this floor to be able to withstand that but no matter how often we sweep and mop, 2 seconds later you can easily spot a footprint or paw print or smudge, which takes away from the flooring’s beauty.
At first we thought it was maybe because the flooring was new, but it’s been 2 or 3 months now and no change. So be prepared to clean constantly and even then never have it looking spotless for more than 5 minutes.
Honestly i’m not quite sure if I would recommend it to a friend. Depends on what the friend cares about. If I had to choose – I’d recommend with the big caveat that it will never look nice during the day (at night when the light is dim or non-existent it looks fine).
This was my third experience with Cali Bamboo solid bamboo flooring, the first being professionally installed, the second and third being installed by myself. After the first set of flooring had been installed in the dining room and hallways for a couple of years and showing no perceptible wear or damage, I decided to expand to the office with the same result.
The third installation was three more rooms. Since the distressed is no longer available I switched to the regular Java which has slightly more sheen, but is a perfect color match, hardly noticeable even at the transitions.
The installation is fairly straight forward with only some cutouts around obstacles being difficult. I am once again impressed with the look and quality of the product and the staff is as always, very helpful.
I would definitely recommend both the company and the product.
This flooring tile is very popular in home installations, use in the basement where a damp floor may be present. This floor tile product is 100% waterproof and allows air to flow under the tile structure.
Use for basements, family rooms, and all types of recreation areas, TileFlex has a unique construction that allows for airflow and keeps the surface away from potential dampness.
A local company semi-finished part of our basement. I liked the plastic interlocking tiles they used for the floors and wanted more to do the rest of the basement. I did a search and found the exact same tiles at Greatmats! I was very pleased with the prompt shipping and excellent packaging.
And the tiles themselves are amazing (Flex Tiles). they will turn your slightly uneven, damp concrete basement floors into attractive, usable space! Just a note. we ordered the Light Parquet two different times and there is a slight color variation between the two batches, so try to order all of the tiles you need at once.
This is a wonderful product. Great for basements (as it “breathes”), easy to install. Our church had the parsonage basement rehabbed. The contractor pointed out that the basement floor was terribly uneven.
It even sloped upwards in the southeast corner. It would be nearly impossible to level. He came up with Tile Flex. The only thing I know now (and this is not a problem with Tile Flex) is that the concrete should have been thoroughly cleaned and sealed before the Tile Flex was laid.
The current pastor’s husband complains of it being dusty. That dust seems to be from the concrete underneath the Tile Flex. Now, my first hand knowledge of the product was rehabbing a half bath adjacent to the earlier project.
Having it done on the original contract would have put us way over budget. 5 years later I did the project, ordered the matching Tile Flex: it was easy to order, sales personnel and e-mail contact was great! Product was extremely easy to install.
Measure twice, cut once. keep track of which way the tabs run.
Overall, I am very pleased with my floor tile and it looks great in my basement. My floor is cracked and uneven, but the tile is flexible enough to cover these flaws with no problem. Although it was fairly easy to install, more detailed installation instructions would have been helpful as I had to learn as I went along.
Thus, I would like to offer some installation tips that I learned along the way. 1) Use a rubber mallet (covered with a lint-free cloth to prevent marring) to pound the male tabs into place, 2) Do not rush, as the male tabs break off easily if not started properly, 3) Tap each tile after installation to keep them snug and square 4) The tiles may be cut easily with a fine tooth saw or utility knife, 5) A wood file works well for removing burrs along cut edges and for detailing a curved cut, 5) Use caution when moving furniture as the tile scuffs and scratches easily.

I love this flooring! I had my whole bathroom redone last summer (6 months ago) and chose this flooring. It is perfect, and it feels so good under my feet. The only reason I took 1 star off is that the colour is more of a grey with beige undertones as opposed to a grey with a white undertone as it appears on screen to me but that may just be a matter of my computer screen.
Love it! You can tell it’s great quality, it clicks together nicely and properly. It looks great too and was relatively easy to install. It’s also dog proof and waterproof which is essential at my house.
I will likely be buying this product again for the cottage. I like it that much.

Random lengths, plus dramatic color and grain variations from board to board make installation challenging; but the end result is a strikingly beautiful floor. I opened and sorted six boxes to get started with a good mix of lengths, color and grain.
Also, some of the long boards were bowed or not machined straight. First 260 sq ft went down in about 12 hours. Still have 750 sq ft to go. TIP: Use an 18 ga floor nailer or stapler for the hardness of this species.

There are many factors to consider when choosing a flooring for a slab foundation. The climate, the type of home, and the intended use of the space are all important factors to consider. Hardwood floors are a popular choice for many homeowners, but they are not always the best option for a slab foundation.
In areas with high humidity or where the ground is not level, hardwood floors can warp and cup. Engineered wood floors are a good alternative to hardwood floors in these situations. They are made with a plywood base and a hardwood veneer, so they are less likely to warp or cup.
Tile is another option for flooring on a slab foundation. It is durable and easy to clean, but it can be cold and hard on the feet. Carpet is a warm and comfortable option, but it can be difficult to keep clean in high traffic areas.
There are many different types of flooring to choose from, so it is important to consult with a professional to find the best option for your home.
