20 Best Flooring For Homes Built On A Slab (2023 Updated)

I received this product along with the purchase of some garage cabinets. I was impressed with the construction. Putting it together was easy but didn’t care for the metal edging. I put a riding bike u serenata and it held up well thanks to the conduction of underneath.

Floor needs to be level or you risk breaking the tile and the outer lip can be a little fragile. Overall a good product for a weight room/basement. Not sure I would use it in an all weather garage.

This flooring is gorgeous! We have used a number of different LVP products on investment homes but went with this COREtec for our sons totally remodeled 3 story row home. We put this throughout the home and it looks amazing! Installation was easy and zero issues with the quality or having chipped edges in boxes etc that we have dealt with before! Will definitely be using COREtec again!.

CaliBamboo Customer service is very helpful and was able to assist me in finding a floor i loved. I am very happy with the purchase. I’ve had the install for a couple months. I have notice a couple light scratches here and there but these floors very durable.

I’ve dropped metal tools (nothing very heavy) and didnt see any damage. I’d say my only complaint has more to due with the process of getting the floors and getting the floors installed. They referred me to a company called Installation made easy which paired me up with a local company.

The local company made a few mistakes early in the process but was able to correct them and ultimately did a great job. One of the issues is I wish there was a better way for the two(three if you include IME) to communicate for materials and such.

I ended up having to go with quarter rounds and transition pieces that look similar but not the same as my bamboo to complete the install. Another thing is Id have liked to have suggested to me to have the materials shipped to the installer instead of my location as I ended up having to carry all the boxes with myself and a friend and.

it was quite a days work since each box weighed around 50 lbs. ! ouch Aside from those issues, the project came out great. The floor itself looks really good and I’m very happy with the results.

Oh my gosh what can I say but this flooring is BEAUTIFUL. It is so easy to install. I put it in my popup camper and it made all the difference in the world. The planks are different sizes in length which makes the flooring look so good.

It is thick and WATERPROOF. I wish I had taken a pic of the flooring before I closed my camper. I will update this review to show just how pretty it is. I don’t even think the pics would do it justice.

My wife and I installed this Life Proof Dusk Cherry flooring as our first DIY flooring project. It went in so well, and looks so great, that my wife is now looking at where else we might install it. That is always a good sign! Details: 7 planks per package.

Mixture of four design “pictures” that go in both directions, so eight variations overall. Texture on plank surface matches with the grain of the plank designs making the look and feel very realistic.

Instructions say to ensure that all packages are from one run number (shown on box) and during installation to mix planks from different boxes. We designed our layout on paper, arranged and labelled the planks by design and then began installation (on a clean and relatively smooth OSB base floor).

Scribe and turn plank over and bend plank backwards to snap/cut worked great. Some planks required a little filing of the solid core cut edge after snapping. We used a workbench vice to support plank cuts along the long side and for short cuts.

We used a hand saw/coping saw for some complex cuts (better than the vibrations of a jigsaw). Purchased a Roberts Pro Flooring Installation Kit at HD (see separate review) to assist in installation. If you ever find you need to remove the last row you installed, even after locking, you can carefully lift the open edge of the planks along the whole row and then lift out the entire row.

You can then slide individual plank pieces out along the short side. We originally thought we would have preferred planks with micro-bevels, but these look great as you can still distinguish the variations between the plank designs.

The planks are amazingly precisely cut and there are virtually no gaps between planks along the long or short edges. Watch the online videos for some good insights before tackling your first flooring project.

Couldn’t have asked for an easier LVP floor to install for my first go. I love that each plank has all the different layers built-in and I didn’t need to purchase separate underlayment or anything like that.

I opted to cut them using a mitre saw and oscillating multi-tool – the guide recommends score-and-snap but they felt too thick to easily do that without losing a finger so I opted to use the tools I already owned.

My only two tips are to make sure each channel is clean before pushing the pieces together, I found sometimes a small spec of construction dirt or dust would get in there and the pieces wouldn’t sit together perfectly (I kept a brush nearby and brushed out each channel before pushing two pieces together), and also build yourself a wooden template to hit if you need to use force to get pieces to sit together properly so you aren’t hitting the channel that snaps into the next piece (those seemed to break and bend easily when hit with a mallet).

Our bathroom floor gets LOTS of compliments – this is a sharp looking floor and worth the money over cheaper LVP.

We bought this product because it is supposed to be a strong floor. It scratches VERY easily. Not just small scratches, deep and non-repairable scratches. I am very careful and put felt under all legs of furniture.

This is the worst flooring I have every purchased. I also only use Bona products like they suggested. The cleaner makes the floor look very dull unless you use the high gloss formula on the floor. Then you had better be very careful when you walk due to the slip factor.

We did LOADS of research and read reviews and unfortunately we are super disappointed in our new floors. They scratch SO EASILY, there is no way they are pet proof. We haven’t even moved in yet and there are loads of scratches that, while they aren’t deep, look awful and are not easily covered.

I’m terrified of what this is going to look like after we actually move in 🙁 Unfortunately for us we did the entire downstairs and loft area in treehouse solid bamboo. We were also bummed that we got multiple samples and the flooring does not look like them :/ we have kids, and I’m already fighting the urge to hound them constantly about the floors, I want to LIVE in my home and let the kids be kids… but I know I’ll pay for it in big marks across our floors :(.

Firstly, it shipped quickly and the packaging was very well done. There’s a transparent opening so you can see the tile but it’s in plastic and nothing gets scratched. These are bigger than I thought.

They are definitely bigger than the standard laminate tiles at big box stores. This made installation much quicker and easier. They lock in so there was no issue with laying them out evenly (another plus).

Cutting was very simple my husband used his work knife but I’m sure a strong hand with a box cutter could cut with a little effort. Don’t be fooled though these aren’t thin. They come with thick foam padding and I noticed a huge difference in the warmth of the floor (energy savings!).

The color was very true to the online photos and it looks very vibrant in person. We used them in our kitchen and cleaning has been a breeze. Our toddler has spilled juice, icee, syrup and marinara sauce and all of it wiped off super easily.

I clean it daily with a swifter and mop it twice a week and it holds up very well to the water. It does not absorb anything and does not scratch. I am not looking into a matching set for the laundry room and some for the bathroom.

I would definitely recommend these for floors that get a lot of traffic, moisture, spills etc….

Already received multiple complements on the floor. The color, texture and the fact it’s waterproof made it the ideal choice for a beach house remodel. It’s not as scratch resistant as the solid bamboo floors, and moving heavy objects across it might leave a mark if done without care, but the dog that refuses nail trims has been doing his usual dances on it without leaving a trace.

Can’t wait to try out another style for the next project.

This was my sixth click type flooring installation and it was by far the most difficult. As in an order of magnitude harder. I had three helpers, each of whom has done at least 2 or 3 other floors and they all agreed with me.

The stuff looks great once it is down and I love that it is waterproof, but it is an uphill battle to get it down correctly. It has zero forgiveness, and I mean none. Everything must be lined up to the nearest millimeter.

Hints for install. The first row must be straight, as in you need a laser to make sure it is straight. We ended up screwing it down temporarily to hold it in place because you need a fair amount of force to connect the pieces and the first row would always move, especially if it was ripped row (so that you would not end up with a sliver at the other end of the room).

We removed the screws once done. The edges are fragile. We had two boxes where the edges were all bent upon delivery. Do not rest it on end when using. We had to do a bunch of thinking to make sure we used the ones up that had bent edges where they would not be seen or were being cut off.

You need way more than 5 percent extra, we had 10 and seriously just made it (no whole boards left) even though we were very careful to reuse pieces. You need at least three people. The boards are heavy and getting a full board clicked into place means one person at the butt end to line it up (again to the nearest half millimeter) and two more to hold the heavy board to angle it in.

There is no solid “click” like some boards. You have to literally get down and inspect every single seam to make sure there is not even a hint of the grey underside along it. Do not do this and you will be fighting to install the later rows.

If you do not check the butt seams for alignment you also can easily damage the ends. If you get to where you have have a seam and you need to put a long board across it and it simply will not go in, cut the initial board so the seam from the previous row is NOT in the middle of the full board.

That way you have less of a pivot point. It does easily snap when scored. Get a triangle and use it to do the scoring, then put the triangle down on the floor with the scored part overhanging and push.

It snaps cleanly. You then have to cut through the backing but that is easy. I would not recommend this for someone installing flooring for the first time, although I am please with it now that it is down.

Amazing, durable, easy to clean! I love it! We had replaced our floors twice in the last 8 months because the products we were laying down, despite having great reviews, kept cutting our children’s feet.

We found Cali and immediately we’re impressed by the quality of their samples. We laid down golden hour oak in their longboard line and two months in, our children’s feet are cut free! Also, they clean so easily and don’t show dirt/spills as easily as other brands.

We have four young children who are constantly “battling” their toys, so this floor has taken a beating and stood up great. I am more than satisfied with the product and service of this company and will sing their praises for the years to come.

Our flooring was only installed a few days ago, but so far we love it! We installed it on the entire first floor. It is seamless without needing any transitions. It’s beautiful and matches our house.

We have been careful about moving furniture, etc. but we have not noticed any scratches or other problems. People have commented that it is more comfortable to walk on than hardwood and other flooring.

Initially I received a bunch of boxes with pre-damaged flooring planks, that predominantly being smashed corners and also deep scratches in the planks. The certified flooring Techs from Halifax Flooring kept throwing out bad pieces and showing me the damage right from the box.

This was extremely concerning & frustrating. I would have given y’all a zero star as of then, maybe even a kick in the trousers. Ryan with Cali Bamboo addressed these frustrating concerns and went above and beyond in fixing these QA problems with the damaged product, and found a suitable remedy for the frustration, damages, and shorted inventory to finish the job.

I think y’all need to give Ryan a nice pat on the back, perhaps even a nice bonus or promotion as a merci beaucoup for keeping the customer very happy in a difficult situation. Attah boi Ryan, job well done!! With these dilemmas being addressed properly and consequently pushed out of mind, overall the Cali Geowood is a very beautiful product indeed.

Very lovely flooring with the unbeatable natural look and solid well built density easily outdoing any synthesized pseudo LVP fake patterns any day of the darn week. Room for improvement: I would have imagined the finishing oxide coat to be more scratch resistant to be completely honest.

The floor does scratch much easier than expected. With that being said, finding a way to increase a resin seal of this lovely product with an even stronger finish would make this a world class piece.

I am general contractor who overall loves CALI BAMBOO flooring materials but I am doing a home right now where I’m in process of doing every room in house except the bathrooms and bedrooms. I have completed the large den almost 300 sq.

ft. and I have to say this aged amber geowood floor is the worst I’ve ever touched and installed from cali bamboo. I have had several pieces damaged from opening box for starters but that another story as far as a installers stand point it has been nothing but slow to work with and is not flexible in anyway shape or form ( installers no what I mean ).

It scratches so easily it is straight up nerve racking. I am a contractor who typically really enjoys all the cali bamboo flooring project I do BUT SO FAR not one minute have I with this flooring. It does not go together that easily first of all, then you got the whole scratching process to deal with throughout the job, then as far as when your cutting out the door jamb’s and casing trim for flooring to slide underneath and then having to lock it together NOT SO MUCH ( ROUGH ).

I have taken a break from this project for almost two months now due to other reasons once the Den was completely finished then home owner had some things come up as did I but were both on same page and im getting ready to start back there very soon to install the living room,kitchen,pantry,family room and some closets and I have to say im not looking forward to it at all.

I have so many sample pieces of Cali Bamboo flooring that I share with my customers and help them along in the picking out process and as of right now I will be removing this Oak and Bamboo Geowood flooring out of my sample box.

We had GeoWood bamboo floors installed a year ago in Anchorage, Alaska where we have no climate control during the summers (temps got over 90F last summer) and radiant heat during the winter which dries the house out considerably.

Even so, the flooring has held up beautifully. We have 3 kids and a Labrador retriever who are all hard on floors. There have been no scratches due to claws, and toys, dishes and appliances have been dropped many times and very little scratching.

Any scratches are quickly and seemingly permanently hidden with a little Old English. Our installer had never used GeoWood or any Cali product and said we needed to write a review to let people know how easy the installation was, especially relative to other floating floors he had installed.

Do be careful of water damage. We chose GeoWood for its water resistance, but it isn’t totally waterproof. We had it installed throughout the kitchen and one spot where I have a floor mat got moisture under the mat that sat for a couple of days and there is a little bit of lightening of the wood on the seam of two of the planks where water penetrated.

But if you didn’t know it was there you wouldn’t notice. After a full year of everyday wear and tear, kids coming in and out from snow and ice and no special “babying” of the floors they still look like new.

We would recommend GeoWood bamboo floors to anyone looking for a beautiful, durable wood floor.

I took A LOT of time to research wood floors versus the other options, such as laminates. Since I have fairly large size dogs and two young kids I was concerned about the wear and tear. After taking wood samples from many places, I noticed Pergo laminates and the hickory from LL both held up well when we did a little hitting with a mallet test.

Pergo looks fake to me however, and doesn’t add as much resale value to the home if I ever sell, so I went with the hickory. I was kind of worried about the color variance in the wood, but now that the project is completed I am thrilled with the look! It is holding up well so far, but can’t say the dogs haven’t added a few scratches here and there.

Plus, I have had to make sure to put pads under my furniture, as that certainly scratches the floor, but overall you can’t see any real damage unless you look really close. Plus this floor can be sanded numerous times, so I feel like that adds a lot of piece of mind to my investment.

Overall, it’s truly a beautiful floor and I was very happy with the staff at LL North Hills. They really know their stuff and were very helpful!!.

I love this flooring. It is beautiful. We put it in our front living room 16+ years ago and I still get compliments on how bestir looks. We had an appraisal done and he could not believe the shape the floor was being that many years old.

We just put the same floor in our dining room. Love it!.

Built a new house, wanted to go Eco friendly and found this flooring to fit in perfectly for our needs. Sadly after 15 months I couldn’t be more disappointed and my wife and I just wish we went with carpet.

Put down 1000 sq feet and spent thousands. We are sick over the situation. It was installed professionally exactly as Cali recommended. Concrete was fully cured for over 3 months, sealed and glued down with Tightbond products just as Cali recommended.

Humidity in the home is a constant 45% +/-2%. The floor has been cared for exactly as Cali recommended in care and maintenance guide. Many planks for whatever reason are making cracking noises when walking on them and we are now discovering they are coming loose from the floor.

When the sun shines in casting a shadow you can see every single plank that joins together with another is slightly cupping. Tapping on the floor where the cupping is occurring sound hollow, because it is no longer glued down.

Then there are the numerous white streaks appearing all over. Almost looks like someone took a white marker to my floor. You can see its under the finish of the floor, very weird. Lay a flashlight on the floor and you can push down on the but end of any plank and see the plank move up and down.

We NEVER HAVE worn shoes in our home, and have no pets with claws or kids that have damaged the floor in any way shape or form. There are SEVERAL places where the finish has Popped Off, for no reason leaving an unsightly mark as well.

Called Cali and was told NO touch up kit was available for our floor.

So we’re getting close to six months with the solid Java bamboo flooring, and it is just the most amazing flooring. It’s gorgeous for starters—we just love the tone, and the variation, from plank to plank and within them.

It also seems like it’ll last for 300 years. We have three energetic dogs, and we have yet to spot any signs of wear or scratching. We had engineered hardwood before, and our dogs just trashed those floors.

Also I can’t say enough about Cali. Steve Crane was fantastic to work with, and helped us to figure out precisely what we needed. We did have a few issues, and Steve and Cali got them resolved and really took care of us.

We also got the matching quarter rounds, which are very sharp, but they are trickier to install. This is probably common sense for more experienced installers, but you have to make sure they don’t glue the quarter rounds to a floating floor.

We had to pull some up, and made the mistake of acting too quickly (better to let the glue dry for a day), so we ended getting some markings on the finish. But we had more than enough to correct the most obvious areas and all is well now.

That’s probably one of the few ways that you can actually damage this flooring, because everything else, from dogs to wheeled chairs to daily wear & tear, isn’t touching them. We ended up installing the quarter rounds with pin nails, which mostly works well.

We also feel great about the flooring being low-VOC and more sustainable, particularly because this was very big project—we did just about the entire house. So for us the solid Java checks all the boxes.

But more than anything else, it looks great, and we can live on it; we don’t feel like we have to tiptoe around. Highly recommended!.

A local company semi-finished part of our basement. I liked the plastic interlocking tiles they used for the floors and wanted more to do the rest of the basement. I did a search and found the exact same tiles at Greatmats! I was very pleased with the prompt shipping and excellent packaging.

And the tiles themselves are amazing (Flex Tiles). they will turn your slightly uneven, damp concrete basement floors into attractive, usable space! Just a note. we ordered the Light Parquet two different times and there is a slight color variation between the two batches, so try to order all of the tiles you need at once.

I installed this flooring 3 years ago in my kitchen. I chose this floor because it seemed durable, waterproof and had good reviews online. I have installed lots of laminate and I have had laminate in my kitchen before in my other home.

The flooring is starting to crack and wear. I am surprised at the quality of this flooring and I would not recommend it.

Bought to install in basement. It was the first time using this product. I dry fit planks to ensure that planks along two long edges were balanced and that transitions were appropriately addressed. The first two rows took about 2 hours to lay out and figure out spacing and to get the hang of the installation.

After that, things moved very well. I completed approx 350 sq ft on my own in about 12 hours but that included learning how to use a chop saw, an oscillating multi tool and making multiple measurements.

By the end of the floor installation, cutting around door jambs was more efficient as well as cutting and fitting end pieces. Next time, installation time (1 person) would likely be reduced by approx 25%.

Highly recommend purchasing the tapping block available at HD for this project as well as knee pads; these made the job a lot easier. The look of this floor is fantastic, it’s warm and cushioned and super easy to keep clean.

It is also difficult to damage once installed. Be careful not to crush corners of planks when unpacking and moving. Excellent product! No defects found in planks. Nice variety in colouring. Watched a couple diy videos on YouTube to learn installation tips and tricks.

Great for the beginner handyperson! I highly recommend LifeProof! So glad we purchased this – it really updates the basement and makes the Rec room and laundry/workshop nice spaces to enjoy. :).

I purchase the Lifeproof LVP flooring after a lot of research. I needed a flooring that would hold up to my large dogs. They had scratched the wood flooring badly. This flooring is almost indestructable.

The only way to damage it is to take a utility knife to it! It is the highest quality vinyl I found. Thick at almost 7mm with a great backing already attached. It is easy to install. I recommend cutting with a jigsaw or table saw.

The score and snap is not nearly as easy. The multi widths and a nice randomness. One big thing to note is the color on the website are not even close. There is no brownish color in this flooring. It is 3 shades of grey.

I bought 60 boxes and the color is consistent throughout. I recommend buying a box and seeing it in your own lighting.

My Classic Acacia luxury vinyl plank (LVP) flooring is beautiful! I love the texture of the LVP and have received several compliments on my new flooring. The LVP flooring updated the look of my 38-year-old home.
