20 Best Floor Lamp For Sewing (2023 Updated)

I’ve had it in my craft room for about a week and have done a few projects and here are my initial impressions. It is super easy to assemble and very sturdy. The floor lamp base is quite large which is great for stability but it is a little bit heavy so it may be difficult to move for some although I haven’t had any issues moving it to different areas of my room.

It’s really simple to use and I love the sliding adjustments that you can make to the brightness and the temperature. I really LOVE the design! The way that you can adjust the lamp’s height and position is great.

I can change it using the handle or I can simply adjust by moving the head of the lamp because it doesn’t get hot to the touch. Not only can I adjust the height, but I can rotate the direction the light is facing as well.

It’s also nice that it can swing away when I don’t need it directly over my work surface. The way this lamp moves is just awesome! The best part of this lamp is the AMAZING light it provides. My craft room is located in the basement and as a result, I’ve always struggled with lighting.

I’ve added a bright overhead light as well as recessed lighting and I also have a few small tasks lamps as well. I thought that at this point I had achieved fairly good lighting, however, after using the Bright 360 for a week, I am blown away at the difference! It lights up such a large area of my workspace which is so helpful but I LOVE the way it allows me to see the colors of my project so much clearer.

I recently made a cute sign for Valentine’s Day where I covered a felt heart with a lot of buttons. I chose to arrange the buttons in an ombré pattern which meant I had to sort a BUNCH of blue buttons into lighter and darker shades.

The Bright 360 made it so much easier to differentiate between the different shades. It also made gluing the project together so much easier. I really had no idea that I was working in such poor lighting and I was shocked at the difference the Bright 360 made.

In addition to all the functional design aspects, I absolutely LOVE the way it looks in my craft room. It really is the prettiest craft lamp I’ve ever seen. I am so impressed with this lamp so far. Thank you again to the amazing Cricut team for giving me an opportunity to try out the Bright 360.

8. Lifespan of LED bulbs = 40,000hrs (i. e. 1666. 66 days or 238 weeks 54 months or 4 years on 24 hours a day). Be carefull 1. Pale powder blue color. No other colors yet. 2. Medium long wire (180cm).

3. Lights a room well but does not replace a ceiling lamp if the room is large 4. No USB socket on the base. Bad point 1. Can’t be completely stuck into a wall corner. 2. The stand cannot be disassembled once assembled.

Be careful if you move. 3. The wire can wind up when rotated 360 degrees. 4. High price that does not fit all budgets.

I love my lamp, and I cant begin to express gratitude to Cricut for creating this beauty. Not only does this lamp show the care and time that went into each area of design and functionality, it helps my health! Made for crafters, this light brightens both artists and crafters, heck it also brightens photography studios too.

with many points to move and bend, the lamp can be placed absolutely anywhere you need. Weighted beautifully the base is planted, while the 360 swing of the actual lamp makes everything in life easier.

I am grateful to find a light that simulates daylight in a dark area. Allergic to the sun I stay away from windows and bright areas, which in turn affects my art. Having this colour and brightness adjusting lamp, that moves so well in my space, allows me the true to life colour of sun without the sickness.

I love the lamp and shade. It looks great. The height is perfect for a desktop. The switch operation is smooth and easy. It uses 1 standard bulb. The base is heavy and wide making it very stable. The offset design allows me to keep it to the desk corner but still throw light on my keyboard and workspace which is what I was looking for.

I did have a minor quality issue but it was addressed. Houzz was slow due to Covid but professional, fair and prompt once they were on the case.

Totally worth the money. Packaging was top notch. Extra care was taken to make sure it could not be damaged in shipping. I keep walking into the room to look at it because I love it that much. Love the tilt feature too.

This lamp is extremely attractive. I was surprised at how heavy it is. Tipping will definitely not be an issue. Got it for my son’s apartment, and he loves it.

Great little floor light. Does exactly what it is meant to do. “Did I make something amazing with what I bought?” Yes, I made my husband very happy, because he knocked over his floor lamp and it broke.

I replaced it with this one!!!! Good features, adjustable lighting, touch on and off; excellent reading lamp. Just hope it lasts; cannot replace the bulb.

The light arrived quickly. Using the instructions I easily set it up. I like the height of the light and the brightness is very good. I only gave it 3 stars because the connector between the arm with the light and the the pole is poorly designed.

If I move the light the top section easily comes off and isn’t securely connected. I will likely have to tape it together, which will be very tacky looking. I’m glad I bought it during a 50% off sale.

I bought this in early 2019 because my previous OTT Lite quit working after about a year. I changed the light bulb in that one and still wouldn’t work, so I purchased this one. By June 2019 the switch on this one starting working intermittently and then by November 2019 it wouldn’t turn in at all.

So now I have another dust collector that doesn’t work. I’m disabled so moving things from upstairs out to the garage is quite cumbersome. Very disappointed with my OTT Light purchases. I have another OTT Light that I purchased for the basement for crafting.

It has both a light and a magnifying glass (two separate parts), it’s been a year for this one but when this one dies, I’ll just buy sunlight lightbulbs for some regular lamps, even on sale it’s not worth it to me.

Especially the lamps with push button switches, it seems like they’re the ones that don’t last long, so far.

My old OttLite floor lamp broke so I wanted another one. My old one had a hood that would swivel so you could get the focus of the light where you wanted it. This new one has no way to do that so the very bright light is always right in my face.

I can’t make it go any lower because it is one height. You can bend the light part down but you can’t turn it away from your face to get rid of the glare. I have tried several different placements and I am about ready to give it to Goodwill.

I eagerly purchased this floor lamp after using a travel model that had been of good service for several years. This floor model casts wonderful light. But a week after the allowed return date to Joann’s, it just suddenly stopped working.

Of course I bought a new bulb. It didn’t work, and the second new bulb didn’t work, either. I researched BEFORE I called Ott. I googled, read, made phone calls to various parts of the country. Yes, I read the review about a bad batch of bulbs.

But I took the lamp to a lighting store that does rewiring and troubleshooting. They checked the lamp, they checked the old bulb and the new bulb. They checked the connection area where the bulb plugs in, and they checked the cord.

every single inch of it, plug and area into base. Then they gave me the bad news. In the base of the lamp, there is a device called a ballast. Fluorescent lighting, of any type, also has a ballast. I have an old, overhead fluorescent fixture in my kitchen.

When new tubes don’t solve the problem, you have to buy a new ballast, and they are pricey, but not horribly difficult to replace. The problem with the OTT light ballast is that you cannot replace the darn thing.

It’s very troubling to read reviews from customers who experienced such rude, disorganized, non-helpful assistance from OTT’s customer service. I’ve put hours and hours into researching this problem and taking it in for a check up.

I will never buy another OTT light, not just because the trouble this one gave me, but I think that it’s irresponsible to manufacture ANY product that cannot be repaired, but instead becomes one more item for the trash.

Lately, I’ve been looking everywhere old, small appliances. They last forever!.

I purchased this floor lamp as gift for my wife to replace a broken existing floor lamp. My grandson assembled this lamp in a short time frame and said it was not difficult to put together. I adjusted the height of the lamp easily and my wife said she likes it.

Only wish the lamp had multiple brightness levels.

This Ottlite floor lamp is great! Low glare but bright light for seeing things clearly. My husband uses it for painting his artwork and he loves it! I may buy another one for doing my sewing

I hoped to find a good bright light for tasks (sewing, art and craft assembly) and needed a reasonably heavy base so it wouldn’t tip easily. Haven’t shopped in decades for a new lamp for any purpose and half-expected to end up with a decorative style of lamp, but I did search narrowly for a craft room or reading lamp and this one seemed simple with good features for my needs.

It arrived the next day, with standard free shipping. The packaging by Amazon was fine and the careful packaging by the manufacturer was better than expected – its cardboard box was sealed and the lamp parts are wrapped and nested in sturdy Styrofoam.

The assembly instructions were easy and the lamp was put together in just a few minutes. Very pleased with the color – had ordered the white as that would be the most unobtrusive in my workspace and expected a glossy enamel white, which would be “just okay” if I had to get white, but, the color “Alpine White” is perfect – it is a gray or off-white with a matte finish.

It “disappears” which is nice in a mixed-up often messy room. The assembled lamp’s height is up to my chest when I stand and extends perfect to my work area when I sit down. It is quiet and the bright light, which can be dimmed, renders true colors, like natural light from a window.

The base is heavier than I expected for a lamp of this height. The only surprise is that I work the lighting in this room from the wall-switch when I walk into the room, and this task lamp needs to be turned on, regardless if it was previously turned off by the wall switch.

That is not a problem and probably extends the life of the lamp, and when the lamp is needed, you just push its button and it turns on to its brightness level you had set. Now I just have to.

Close to Perfect ByDrBobon February 26, 2016. Color: Classic Black|. Very easy to assemble. 3 post sections look identical but here’s how you tell them apart quickly: Two sections have male threads on them; the one with a hole on the side is the bottom.

The top one does not have a male thread The middle one probably could be eliminated if you want the lamp shorter (I haven’t actually tried this. ) Tip: The post sections screw together easily with fingertip pressure.

If you have any trouble connecting them, start over. Never force! Press sections together lightly and turn them backwards (counter clockwise) up to one turn until you feel a little click. This will be the thread ends slipping down to engage.

Then turn clockwise gently and they will go together like a charm. Remember this technique next time you have a reluctant-thread problem! Performance-wise, this lamp is excellent. It is more than bright enough, and its daylight color is perfect for close work.

Details appear sharply defined and colors are much more easily distinguished than with “soft white” (2700-3000K) light. It dims beautifully as needed. My wife has one in her office and I have one in our home theater, where it’s perfect for reading a book while listening to music.

I haven’t tried one in a bedroom but the illuminated switch is less obtrusive at night than those horrible blue pilot lights, so I would think it wouldn’t be a huge problem for me. A dab of nail polish, electrical tape, or a black marker will fix if it’s too bright at night.

I do find the amber light to be useful when coming into a dark room, to see where the switch is. But the feature I like the best is that the lamp is well weighted and balanced without being exceptionally heavy.

Its flexible neck is easy to adjust and there is no position in which it tips over like our previous (horrible) floor lamp did.

I crochet and starting to sew – so this light is very very useful. The only thing is it’s bright that my little dog squinted at it at first – so, just be careful with it around animals. My little dog is okay with it now BUT just to be safe, I do turn it away from him.

And, the adjustable gooseneck allows you to tip the lamp in any position. What a great features. ** I was debating on whether getting a 24 watt lamp (other brands) or 12 watt lamp before deciding AND I am glad I got the 12 watt lamp.

It really lights up my work area. When, I crochet, I can sit anywhere in the room (I added an extension cord) and can crochet any time of the day and I don’t have to struggle (especially at night) to see my work.

Plus, because of the adjustable gooseneck, I can adjust so it doesn’t bother anyone else in the room. It just lights up my area, and of course, the room but it is not an irritating bright light for others.

I love it. I may buy another one once I get my craft room together. *** I do take photos of my work, and haven’t had the chance to use it in a photo shoot BUT will update on that. I usually do photo shoots of my work during the afternoon sun for natural light, but will test this to see if the light will be natural enough to take pictures during the night.

*** And the seller emails you to make sure that you are satisfied with the product. Love that because so many sellers just want to sell and not really care on getting direct updates from the buyer. The sellers seem to care so if you do have problems, they provide you contact in their email.

This light is perfect for sewing and numerous other crafting projects. The LEDs are a bright and natural daylight. Great for seeing real colors. I love the way the light can be adjusted to varied heights and the light head can be rotated for the task at hand.

This was for the purchase of another OttLite for use in my home. The first one I bought was a clamp-on lamp, purchased several years ago, for desk use in my home office, and is one that is turned on for many hours each day, and consequently goes through those (expensive) replacement bulbs often.

I’ve found that when I do not require precise color rendition, there are other replacement bulbs (by Philips) available at Home Depot at considerably less cost; because they do not use the rare-earth fluorescent coatings that OttLite uses to give “truest” colors.

The cheaper bulbs suffice in my office. However. I purchased this floor lamp for my companion as a reading and hobby lamp where I wanted the light quality to be better, and she has made good use of this floor lamp.

She is quite pleased with the lamp and has it in her favorite reading and “coloring” spot. I may consider purchase of another in the near future.

First off, the lamp did not work at all, would not turn on. Beyond that, this is a horrible quality for Ott-Lite. I have had another style of Ott-Lite for 15 years and it is awesome. The light I purchased from Bed Bath and Beyond recently is a huge disappointment.

It is flimsy in all aspects. The head of the light is too heavy for the skinny and weak neck to hold it up. It creeps down like a wilting flower. The switch is cheap and flimsy, the whole thing is just sub par for Ott-Lite, and interestingly enough, this particular model is NOWHERE on the Ott-Lite website.

Whether Ott-Lite decided to pull it from their lineup, or they made it especially for Bed Bath and Beyond I don’t know, but do not buy this light, you will be sorely disappointed.

I did a ton of product comparisons across the internet, among Brightech lamps themselves, and non-Brightech lamps with other lamps, and decided to go with this one because of the look, the positive reviews, and reviews in particular that commented on how much light this lamp gives off.

I’m really happy I did! I live in a studio and have a good number of outlets—but in sort of inconvenient places, so I needed a lamp that would do a lot of work wherever I put it. This lamp does the job.

I got this lamp in black and in person, it looks exactly like it does in the product photos. Assembly was simple and the lamp lit up the room immediately. I’d 100% purchase this lamp again—and I’ll very likely make another Brightech purchase in the future.

Does what it says it will. I work from home and the winter makes it hard to sit in a poorly lit room with little sunlight when it’s so cloudy and bleak outside. This lamp immediately brightened up my entire room better than the other 4 lamps + ugly overhead room lighting I was already using.

The light was also not some harsh fluorescent bright which I was worried it would be. It’s bright but pleasant. I don’t really leave reviews for things I buy online ever (I also very rarely online shop) but it’s crazy how much of a difference some proper lightening can make.

Exceptional LED Floor Lamp. ByWyoSteveon February 22, 2017. Color: Havana Brown|. I would give this lamp ten stars if I could. It is the best product I have purchased in years. It is well made and easy to assemble.

It consists of a stand made up of three pipes that screw into each other, into the base, and into the goose neck at the top. The power line goes through this pipe which you feed through each of the three pipes as you assemble them.

An electrical connection is made with a clip plug at the bottom which will be inside the base. The transformer has a fairly long wire which plugs into this wire on the outside of the lamp making it possible to unplug it there if needed.

The goose neck makes it easy to set the light to aim anywhere you wish. It has a lighted button just below the lamp head which functions both as an on-off switch and the method of setting the brightness of the LED lamp.

Push and release turns the lamp on or off. When it is lit, holding the button in moves the brightness up and down. You simply stop by releasing the button to set the brightness which it keeps until it is adjusted again.

The brightest setting will light up the whole room and the weakest down to a night light. There is no ability to change the color of the light. The lamp is quite attractive and useful for chairs which are situated where table lamps or the like would be unhandy.

The base is quite heavy and holds the tall lamp very well with no tipping over. I recommend this lamp highly for anyone who wishes an extremely good floor lamp.

Unfortunately the mid-shaft that attached the upper light to the lower portion of the lamp was stripped so if wouldn’t tighten. Easy to return to the store though which made it a very easy decision to return right away.

Have owned for 6 months and I love it. I use it for stitching and it’s nice to adjust the height and not have an ugly stand lamp in the middle of the room. Attractive and practical.

This lamp was just what I needed. It is nice and bright, sits securely on its base, and looks lovely. The gold tone is so pretty.

I love this light. It’s bright enough to see the stitches in dark yarn but still attractive enough to have next to the couch.

***IMPORTANT – NEED A SOCKET WRENCH TO ASSEMBLE**** The wrench sent with it for use while assembling is useless. There is no way to sufficiently tightened the pole to the base, causing the pole to spin & wobble making it seem dangerously flimsy.

I’m hoping once I am able to properly tighten it later. The cord is very short. But the neck extremely bendy, making this the perfect size for my small house to tuck away yet reach where I need it. The bulb very bright.

This is perfect for working on my diamond painting projects. High quality (as I would expect from Ott) and much better than other floor lamps I’ve tried. Definitely recommend.

I needed extra light in my bedroom for reading. This was perfect bc of the flexible neck and swing-arm. It can appear at first, not to put out much light compared to regular lamps, but it is meant as a “focused light,” not a room light.

It’s perfect and I can now read in bed again (aging eyes!). Thank you.

I’m so pleased with this lamp, it’s perfect for when I do my craft work. It’s very sturdy and has a nicely weighted base, it’s also very easy to put together. The light is very bright and clear and the flexible neck makes it easy to adjust the angle of the lamp.

This was the second light like this I purchased. one for me and one for my daughter. Both of us are advid crocheters sometimes as early as 4:00 a. m. and as late as midnight!! This floor lamp is awesome for providing daylight in the middle of dark times of the day! I bought mine first and then when my daughter came to visit and had a taste of how great this lamp is I bought her one as a surprise.

If you’re doing any kind of crocheting or knitting this lamp is a must! The split shade and flexible stem plus charging station for your phone or tablet is an added plus!.

A very good lamp. Several easy to control levels of brightness. The brightest being extremely bright. The base is heavy enough to give it great stability and the flexible neck with the multi-directional bulb housings make the lamp really useful.

The attachable stand is not so good since does not lock into place and thus is not particularly useful – which doesn’t bother me whatsoever. The USB plug in is a nice extra.

I love all the OTT products- I use them to help me with crochet. I have broken screens on my tablet when I balance it on the arm of the sofa, so I was looking for something that would hold my tablet and give me better lighting.

The light is very impressive- putting it together was pretty easy but the base wobbles. I am thinking of purchasing the extra base hoping it will make everything more stable.

I purchased this lamp two times, exchanging the frost one for the second and ultimately returning the second one. Each time having similar issues. The top part of the lamp which is the part with a long neck to the light itself.

It’s a push in and twist to attach it to the base. It was very wobbling and easy popped out. Happened with the frost lamp thought it was hoping it was just that one lamp so I exchanged it and the second lamp had the same issue.

The second lamp also was very wobbly at the base. I couldn’t get the pole to tighten enough at the base for it not to wobble. A bolt is out through the bottom up into the pole. It felt stripped as no matter how much I tightened it would stop turning.

The second lamp’s touch to turn on wasn’t working. It wouldn’t always turn on when touched. The first one I never plugged it so I don’t know if it had an issue. For the cost of this lamp you would hope for better quality.

Great for working on things up close that need brighter light, as well as being able to dim the light, to enjoy an ambient glow. Easy to assemble, but, when attaching the pole to the base, I recommend a friend to hold the heavy base.

(I managed it alone, but, it was a bit awkward to handle. However, I placed it on the couch, upside down and got it assembled). Super easy to use and put together. The dimmer switch is very touchy, so use a light touch, and the upper part is for brighter, and the lower part of the button is for dimmer.

(I discovered that method after fooling around with it many times!).

This Ott light is actually the 3rd one I have purchased. The first one finally died after many years of daily use. I then bought the 2nd one which I use daily and my husband loved it so much this is the matching one I bought for his birthday! Now I don’t have to share mine.

Puts out great light for all kinds of projects as it is the same as “natural daylight” which shows the true colors of anything you are working on from jewelry, to yarn to paints.

I bought this lamp to illuminate my needlework, but it was too strong to place so close to my face. I starting using it in the studio while drawing since I can place the lamp further from the work there.

It is doing well. It doesn’t diffuse the light much. I have it placed on one side of the table and the other side of the drawing gets much less light. The wheel base is heavy and doesn’t roll on carpet very well.

On the positive side the light is bright and sturdy. It is easy to turn on/off. It wasn’t difficult to assemble. I would recommend it even though it has issues because I doubt there are better options out there.

Floor lamp arrived with a broken wheel then once assembled it did not turn on. Can’t tell what the issue is. I reinstalled the bulb a couple of times but it still is inoperable. It’s a heavily weighted base and a big box.

Seems like shipping such a giant item back is going to be difficult so I guess I will just keep and use the free desk lamp and get rid of the floor lamp. Quite disappointing.

This is an OK lamp — it’s mostly plastic and waaaay shorter than I thought — I paint standing up and I was hoping I could use it over my shoulder. Should have read the specs more carefully. It is really meant for table top work.

Oh well — I can use it at home. Too expensive to ship back.

Beautiful. Sleek. Modern yet warm & inviting. My interior designer recommended we purchase this to go in our living room and we are thrilled with her recommendation. The lamp is just what we needed to add some extra light in a fashionable way to the living room.

It’s really hard to find a simple floor lamp like this. I didn’t want this to be an eye catching piece but more a subtle form of light in the corner of the room. This is a perfect, modern and sleek floor lamp.

To make it more modern looking I’d prefer a white shade, the linen/natural beige tone wasn’t really what I thought I was getting. Brightech should consider giving customers the option of shade color in the future.

I’m working on trying to get a white shade because I’m the photos it looks white, but it’s definitely not white. Overall, I recommend.

Gorgeous. And easy to put together. No idea why people complain about the lampshade. It looks high quality. Also no issues with the lamp leaning like others suggest.

The lamp is great, though I was not aware of one feature: it appears that in order to create a floor lamp the Pablo designers essentially took the Link desk lamp and attached it to a base. Hence, the power cord is external running down the side of the lamp.

Considering the stylized design, this does ruin the fluid line. And, was surprising considering how simple it would have been to run the line inside. Just be aware prior to purchasing. Other than that, we love the lamp.

I am an artist and was looking for true light that doesn’t distort color hues. I love that I can move the head freely, down and up and to the side. It stays cool and I can have it an inch away from my hand and the artwork.

It is really nice for computer work too. positioning it so it doesn’t glare on the screen. It fits in any where and I use it in my bedroom as a soft night light. I can’t see using any other light now.

Hope it lasts forever. so far it has. had it over a year and it takes all my repositioning constantly stays where I put it. It was expensive but well worth it.

it’s a lovely lamp. Looks beautiful and gives off good reading light. The only problem is how the chord is designed. I think it looks sloppy not being attached to anything and just hanging mid-way from the lamp.

there should be a better way for the chord to disappear.
