20 Best Flip Up Scope Covers (2023 Updated)

The protective case is an excellent product to protect your investment. Buying Swarovski is an investment, but if you want some of the best glass on the market, you pay more for it. I put no for the good value question, because there are other good spotting scope brands with basically the same type of protective stay-on case, but not near as expensive.

If you plan to buy Swarovski products also figure in the cost of protection. The main reason for me to purchase the stay-on protective case, I was really concerned every time I put the eye piece on to the body, sooner or later I would drop the eye piece and break it.

Not a big problem if you’re only at the local range sighting in; However “what if” you’re now on that hunt of a life time or you’ve travelled to some exotic place to bird watch and you drop the eye piece and break it?!?! I’m very happy with my purchase! I just feel the protective case is over priced.

Do shop around and find someone offering the case at best offer. It will save you a few $$$.

This case, by Swarovski for a Swarovski scope, is a perfect fit. Well, you would expect that, wouldn’t you. But its more than that. Its very well made, offers great protection, and does not inhibit, in any way, operation of the focus or eyepiece zoom controls.

Now I have fitted it to my scope i do not anticipate any reason to remove it, except perhaps for the occasional clean. An excellent product, and I am very pleased I had the patience to wait for it instead of dashing off for a third party product.

The recent price rises make it seem, perhaps, expensive. But. in my opinion. it is well worth the money.

I have this in the fairing on my Harley Road King and it works and looks great. The way it attaches give the stereo extra stability and the cover is easy to open and close on the move even with gloves on.

I dont think you’ll find a better cover for the price.

Exactly what I was looking for! I was looking for something inexpensive but capable of holding my Iphone on my motorcycle. I use it without the safety strap and it really grips the phone well. I recommend this product to anyone!.

These simple additions to my rifles (yes, rifles as I have it on most all my optics) are a wonderful addition. It often rains, snows, and/or is muddy in the field. With these added to my guns, I’m able to keep my optics clean until I’m ready to use them.

The objective cover is opened with a simple forward push on the tab as I bring the rifle to my shoulder. It takes about a second to open the cover I have over the objective and the eyepiece. The trick is to get them fitted correctly.

Butler Creek has a nice video on it and the web site offers multiple methods for measure the diameter of your scopes. I used calipers as I have them and that worked for me. I have made a mistake measuring in the past and have gotten better over the years.

In summary, I highly recommend these covers. It’s a relatively small cost for a lot of benefit.

Expected quality in BC scope cover line. BC units are almost exclusively found on my riflescopes. They have remained in place during heavy field use and protect lenses during transport. Using this objective on a Burris Fullfield E1 in combo with a size 11 eye.

The objective measurement is in between Size 40 and 42. No selection in between so I chose the small diameter. With a little finesse squeezed it into place and that is where it must stay. Does not interfere with perimeter clarity.

I don’t purchase cheap scope, so I want to protect the optics in my investment.

First make sure you measure your scope prior to purchase for obvious reasons. get the right size and this cover will stay in place. The cover flap dose keep unwanted debris and water be it rain or snow out of your scope but cold weather does effect it.

Sometimes the cold wont allow the cover to remain closed. The manufacturer should have made a deeper locking grove. That’s why I always glue a couple of pieces of Velcro to the front and side of the cover.

Do that and you got it knocked.

Most reviews address the product features and ignore the size. Large size fits my 3. 5x10x40s and 3x9x40s. Medium fits my 2. 5x8x37s. I don’t use larger scopes because I shoot mostly close range. These covers do what they were built for.

Not a rifle scope certainly not large. This cover must be for a large pistol scope. Not rifle. Quality is ok but it doesnt even come close to fitting. Of no value to me.

Bought this flip up cover for my Hawke fast mount scope. Wanted to also use it as a ‘blinder’ when in an open position. A bit fiddly to fit but, put a little silicone oil on the thread (plumbers o ring lube), hold the outer flange against the scope then with a little pressure, screw the threaded section through the outer flange and onto the scope.

Watch for an even gap between outer flange and inner screw (to ensure not crossed) and it’ll screw up just fine.

Really cheap feeling. They don’t provide a tight seal like end caps made by U. S. brands. They are difficult to get open. The ocular cap had about a 1/8 gap. The female part of the closure screws in and out making it adjustable.

I broke 2 of the 4 tabs off attempting to adjust objective lens cap to get a tighter seal. I feel you’d get a better product buying a Butler Creek product that fits over the scope. The idea is good with these but the execution is poor.

Well made metal cover. Assemble using the smallest dab of a WD40 silicon grease (applied with the tip of a wooden toothpick – not directly from the spray!) on the screw-thread of the cover will ensure easy assembly.

Also a small dab applied, in the same fashion, on the hinge will aid opening; and the same on the inside of the two plastic snap-locks will greatly aid releasing them.

Nicely covers my Hawke Airmax. I’d give it a higher score, but it doesn’t have anything to secure it to the scope for if you are carrying or slinging the rifle in an area with heavy brush or limbs that may contact the rifle.

This could be a decent scope cover, but it barely fits a small .22 rifle scope. Buyer beware, unless your scope is very short and thin, this cover will not fit.

I purchased a medium and a large cover. Unless you have a small rimfire scope. Buy the large model. It is will fit most scopes and will stretch to fit the larger scopes. The medium is too small for most scopes.

What better cover for a Burris scope than a Burris scope cover? A quality Burris product! Note: The Large fits my Fullfield E1 4. 5-14X42. I don’t think a Medium would fit! I give it five stars, quality product, perfect.

I will order this product again. And that is my highest recommendation.

I have Leopold, crooked creek and now Burris scope covers. They other two are neoprene, while this is micro fleece. I have it on a 3x9x40 Fullfield II and it fits good. (Medium size) I actually like it better than the others as long as it is truly waterproof.

As long as it holds up and it appears it will I would recommend this product.

I love these Burris scope covers. Most of my rifles are wearing one, regardless of the brand of scope. Keeps dust off lens – easy on and off, and affords some protection from safe bumps when moving rifles around.

For the price I have not found anything better.

Purchased for my Burris scout scope. Fit is snug but appears well made. Would buy again.

The only reason I bought this was that it clearly states NEOPRENE. It is more like a cottonish material. But again definitely not NEOPRENE. Very disappointed.

Just purchased two of these for my hunting rifles because I was tired of my scope caps falling off while hiking (left one in Montana. somewhere!). Really happy with the design. End covers are thick and protective of the scope lenses.

Fabric center covers the rest of the scope completely. I was concerned about quickly having to remove the cover to take a shot BUT realized that it comes off the scope very easily and is attached to the gun by the front clip, so I can just hold it under the forend of the stock and my hand naturally holds it in place and Im not trying to stuff it in a pocket or dropping it.

Appears very well made, fits a wide range of scope sizes (I bought the small for a 13″ scope with a 44mm obj. ) and adjusts for a secure fit by the rear red cinch cord. Very lite weight as well.

This is the best scope cover I have ever owned. It protects the scope against tough weather and situations, it’s easy to take off, and it fits any scope in a custom-Type fashion, it can be adjusted easily.

Also it’s clearly very tough. I’ve already bought more for my other guns. My only question is- why doesn’t Badlands market this product more?! It is affordable and everyone who buys it will love it, and will then want more badlands gear.

Nice design. Rugged covers for then objective and eye ends. Looks to be very high quality material and workmanship. Ends should provide better coverage and protection than the normal neoprene ones. Put this on a Leupold VX5HD 3-15×56.

The fit on the 56 mm objective is very tight, actually does not go on all the way. For length, the S/M is appropriate.

Keep an eye on these consistently. As you hike and your binocs rub back and forth to some degree the entire things tends to fall off unknowingly. The more use, the looser they fit and increased chances they can come complete off during a hike.

I don’t know that there is any other choice out there.

Item does to stay covering the lens. It does not work. The inner ring fits over the bino but the caps fall right off with slight movement.

The old caps slipped off the lenses easily. The new ones have an extra sleeve that fits around the inside of the lens housing and holds it more securely. They still flip off with just a flick of the finger.

My rifles and scopes get more dings being moved in and out of my safe than they ever suffer in the field or on the range. This particular Swarovski cover was really made well with sturdy materials so it was a bit costly but it does what I wanted and really looks good also.

The Swarovski Large Scope Guard is used on the Z6I 2,5-15×56 Rifle Scope. The guard is soft yet robust and really compliments the lens caps. It fits snuggly and is easy to use.

Its not that expensive and is constructed well enough. Otherwise the neoprene is very thin and won’t really give much scratch and dent protection. It is loose and just sits over the sight and will fall or blow off quite easily.

You will need to add a rubber band, string, velcro or something to this to actually keep it on in the field. Also not crazy about the giant logo on it. Next time I’ll cut up and aqua seal together my own from some old 1/4″ wetsuit gloves.

It’s really too bad about the small size of this item. It’s well made, but I purchased it for my EoTech 512 and it takes two hands to stretch it enough, and there’s really no stretch to this material, to barely get it on the 512.

Even then it doesn’t adequately cover it completely.

I had to really stretch this cover, I put it on the largest E-O Tech with two AA batteries. It fit tight and no tearing of the seams. Well made, thick material.

I first found out about this cover a few years ago after I went into my safe and found a mark on one of my very expensive scopes. I was so upset that I wrapped all my scopes in towels (upsetting my wife in that her expensive hand towels were being used to cover scopes.

yea women sometimes just don’t get it). I started looking all over the internet for something that would work and I came across the VooDoo Tactical scope cover, I ordered it And after it arrived and I thought it was an interesting solution that also looked pretty good.

Well it does work and it is GREAT, now all my scoped firearm have one. The only thing I will tell you is that VooDoo says that once clipped around the rifle, that you can use the handle on the firearm to carry it.

well I have some very expensive rifles and glass and I wouldn’t do it. Overall It probably is the cheapest insurance you can get for that expensive piece of glass sitting on your rifle. They can be difficult to find at times but well worth the effort, you will never regret protecting your optic but will always regret NOT doing it when it gets damaged.

But this is coming from a guy that has a camera inside the safe, outside the safe looking at it, a temperature and humidity gauge that alerts me on my phone if anybody gets near it or opens it, or the environmental conditions inside the safe falls out of the parameters I have set.

I am such a gun super freak that my wife would rather me go to a strip club than a gun store, she says I would spend less money at a strip club. lol.

From the picture it really doesn’t look like it would stand up to the test. I have been field using it for months and it is still in great shape. All zipper compartments have held up with no issues. I usually keep some survival gear on it (due to my hunting adventures) such as a small knife, lighter, etc.

The inside is bare except for two windows to put range finding charts. Great product and would advise to anyone with an expensive scope they cherish! Thanks for the sale – Ben.

nice product,product is not 24″ long it will not fir a vortex 5 x 25 with sun shield on. it maybe 24″ including the tabs, 24″ long would have been plenty of length for my scope. seems to be well made I will not buy another Hoodoo product.

I purchased these lens caps to replace one of the lens plugs that came with my Viper 12×50 binoculars. I say plugs because the flat rubber covers had recessed lip that needed to be pushed into the objective housing.

The fit was rarely snug and the tethered loops weren’t a snug fit either around the optical barrels. It wasn’t difficult to knock them off the binoculars, especially if you had gloves on. These caps are true caps that slip on very snugly around the outer optical barrel.

The tether rings are also wider and more snug – it will be very difficult to accidentally knock them off.

I have a pair of 2013/2014 Zeiss Terra ED 10×42 binoculars that I love. However, I have always hated the objective lens cap which is incredibly lose and only stays on if the binoculars are standing vertically on a flat surface on top of the lens cap.

Totally lame. I don’t know why it took me so long, probably due to the non-round shape of the Terra ED barrel, but I finally decided to see if I could find some lens caps from a third party that would work.

These lens caps fit perfectly. This is model SW-53. I love the rubber ring to keep them on and the ease with which I can flip them off to look at something. They fit with the perfect amount of friction.

No chance of them coming off on their own, but they slide on without too much struggle. Again the non-circular shape of the Terra ED makes it a bit harder than a normal binocular might be, but these feel really secure and I have no concern about them coming off and getting a lens scratch while going through underbrush.

I also tried the SW51 and the CAPD42, and I found that the SW53 fit the best of the three. Highly recommend these lens caps, only wish I had thought of getting them years ago! And, as always B&H is the best.

I purchased two of these before going on a 3 day hog hunt in Texas. Everyone else was dealing with opening, closing and stacking hard cases as we came in and out of the field. My rifles were just wrapped in the scope cover and crown cover.

I was able to put my rifles down wherever worked without having to deal with a hard case at all the entire time I was there. They also make it easy to carry your rifle in the field before you are ready to start hunting.

Bought a eberlestock scope cover crown protector a few yrs back. Since then I have purchased two more for different personal rifles and a third for my issued duty rifle. They are very well made. The side pockets are great for hard copy dope cards and Allen wrench for scope zero stop adjustments.

I stuff the crown protector inside the scope cover in the field and use it as a rear bag when shooting prone. My rifle wears one everywhere it goes.

I’m impressed with this. I bought it for a long-range rifle that I only use for target shooting. I’ve spent enough money on the scope, that I thought it might be a good idea to protect it. The construction of this thing is like everything else Eberlestock makes – quality.

The three straps fit well, and can be adjusted, so no matter what rig you might be looking at, this will fit it. The scope I have is very long, and this still covers the entire length of the scope. The padding is nice, though its not overly padded.

Overall, I recommend this cover.

I purchased 5 for school and one for myself. Easy to adapt to my scopes with angled lens and 80 mm exit optic. As one person suggested, I marked the top and bottom and placed an up arrow on the handle side so that students would not get confused.

I like that the case is durable but just stiff enough to add a layer of protection. The case adds bulk and weight, but given the abuse that students do to scopes, I am really happy with the trade-off.

I also feel better about the investment for my scope. Price is great.

First off, get a new snap blade knife. There are three pieces of foam in the case. Remove the “pluck” foam and put it on a cutting surface. Trace out your spotting scope and then using the “snap knife” use it as a saw and cut the foam.

Go slow as the pluck foam will bunch and tear. Cut all the way through and remove that section of foam. Once done put back into place and you’re done!.

Needed something to protect my new scope that didn’t come with a case. While not the quality of a hard sided case such as a pelican, its better than a sleeve like cover and provides better drop protection.

For the price, it is a really good buy.
