Best Flashlight For Power Outage (2026 Updated)

Great little flashlight! I was looking for a simple one mode light, I hate having to cycle through 5 modes when I only need a bright light. which is most of the time! This light is just the ticket! I love mine!.

Reliable, sturdy, simple to use. Plenty bright enough. Use with 18650 battery almost doubles the overall price but makes good sense in the long run.

I’m a heavy equipment mechanic, I work in the field repairing machinery traveling from job site to job site in a truck. I have been pretty loyal to snap on lights, but the price gouging finally got to me and I wanted to try something new.

I bought this light. First though, adjustable dial is nice. It puts out a pretty great amount of light. I don’t really use the flashlight feature much, but it’s nice to have so when I’m doing inspections on machines I can point out something to a customer vs.

carrying a separate flash light. The battery life isn’t near what my Snap on/Cornwell lights are, but it’s better than the Braun I also use at home in the garage. It also is a lot more solid feeling than the Braun (the magnet has came off, as well as the plastic piece that keeps the light protected has fell off a few times over the 6 months I’ve had it.

) This is worth the money, and absolutely a great piece for a weekend garage type gig. Full time guys might want to get 2 or 3 if you work long hours and would like a light at all times though.

Outstanding shop light. The control wheel on the back of the light is great for adjusting the lights brightness to suit the needs. Push switch turns on the end flashlight LED to allow for pointing the light at a particular spot.

Magnetic end easily holds the light in place and the ball swivel allows you to move the light around the magnet tilting it to better illuminate the work area. This light is solid and has a good feel in your hand.

I highly recommend this light.

Great Light, bright as you could ever need, strong magnet, slim design, great accessibility. but (updated) battery life is very limited so make sure you have other “light” sources if you wanna keep working for more than a couple hours.

kinda disappointing so losing a star in my review. great outta the gate but not much on stamina. ??. updating (lost a star, crash & burn seem eminent)-as I go on with a lengthy project, I find the battery life seems to be getting less & less?! Add to that the annoying magnet that damages everything it touches & this “light” is fast becoming a serious pain?! Wish whomever responsible for the design put mot thought into the battery life as they did the magnet strength?! These “litho batteries” that some on here go on and on about should last at least as long as it takes to charge them! I like the design & the idea, just need to rethink the battery life for the price IMHO.

I was undecided between this flashlight and a Streamlight 75458 Stinger DS LED HL 800-Lumen flashlight. I did what any man would do when faced with this decision and bought both. This flashlight is slightly brighter,better throw, and way easier to put into the mount.

The Streamlight did come with an extra battery to keep in the piggy back charger if having a extra battery is of importance to you. Just for laughs I compared them both to a $30 Chinese USB rechargeable flashlight I have loved for years.

It blew both of these high end flashlights away with lighting a large area with blinding light. It however does not throw as far because the beam is much wider. For everyday use the $30 light just destroys both of these lights.

I mean it is hard to use it inside because no matter where you point it you have to squint. Now if you want the wall mount charger and low throw with a more narrow beam then these both out perform it.

For the sake of this comparison the Maglite is the winner.

BATTERY MADE IN CHINA TORCH BODY MADE IN USA Worst purchase for a long time. The torch battery is past its use by date, 5 years old. Suggested life time of these batteries are 5 years. I currently have one of these torches that I have sent the battery to a manufacture to make a new battery as it had failed too.

That torch was only 2 years old. This exact one. I contacted Peters Of Kensington and since been in contact with Maglite. Wonder if will get a replacement battery or not. Not very likely as been a long time now.

Pity ALL my maglites with Chinese batteries are all sitting on the bench DEAD. My oldest normal D size battery version is still working 30 years later.

Having the older rechargeable for over 30 years, it finally gave up the ghost due leaking battery. Did the exchange for half off the unit that replaced it. It’s smaller, lighter, and at least 10 brighter.

At over 1000 lumens, it’s no comparison to the old unit. This won’t my daily flashlight, I have a pocket size for that, the charger was easy enough to hang, two screws and your done. Impressed so far.

Maglite has been in my arsenal for over 30 years and the customer service was great and easy. Just a bit disappointed the service on a local standpoint ended and Maglite decided to handle all warranty through the factory.

Although it cost me shipping, still happy about the exchange.

I bought the three pack b/c I needed small but bright flashlights placed around my house with the storm season coming. Plus, this is great for when I have to walk my dog at night. I placed the order when I saw the sale but didn’t read any reviews.

After I placed the orders, I read some negative reviews and started to think I had made a mistake. I had read that some ppl received knock-offs, units without the “Bell&Howell” label on it and how the power button broke after only several uses.

Naturally, after I got the flash lights, I immediately took them all out and tested every one of them. I tested the power button on the rear many times in quick succession as well as cycling through all the modes and zooms.

The build on every one of them felt solid. The only criticism i have is with the battery sled. They could have designed it so it sits very snug in the body and would have a slight rattle when you shake it.

I have used one of them every day so far and nothing has broke on me or malfunctioned. For me these worked out great (so far) and boy are they BRIGHT! There are brighter ones out there that is a step up but these are more than enough if you are not using it for some professional tactical purpose.

Though, I still think it is enough even for that! Overall, I would recommend these to friends and family. Obviously if you were sent knock-offs/fakes, then your experiences will not be the same but if you got the authentic Bell&Howell Taclight, you will not be disappointed.

It is Bright, zoomable, highly durable and just the right handheld size and weight. The power button on the back end works great, not some cheap button that soon breaks like others. I like it enough that having about a year of my first one I have since bought 3 more.

It takes three common AA batteries which seem to last forever. But even better, you can use Li-ion 3. 7V Rechargeable Batteries making them run forever. As an adaptation I epoxy a pair of N35 20x3mm Hole:5mm) countersunk ring magnets onto a flat side of the handle so that I can place it on a metal surface – or better still to another pair of magnets screwed onto a desk or the wall that really fixes it into place.

To glue the magnets to the handle I use JB Weld Kwik Bond #8276 epoxy pasted. I find the magnets and epoxy readily available with free delivery on here ebay. That is a trick I use for all sorts of things like remotes, flashlights, handi grabbers and anything else I can think of to my walls and desks for convenience and better organization my bedroom.

It works especially well on this flashlight making it ideal. I love these things! I have them everywhere!.

The torch is a bit on the heavy and bulky side but what else could be expected from such a bright light, I use this light every day when taking my girls out at night to do their thing. Love it will purchase more of these bright torches.

Flashlight is a little heavy but is very compact. Purchased 5 of them, using 1 of them currently. I have not dropped it yet, so no comment on durability yet. Price was right

We love these. They do not take up an entire wall outlet and can twist if some of your outlets are upside down, as many of ours are. Just enough glow in the dark and a convenient flashlight. We rec’d with a one bad lamp and had to return.

The previous buyer had marked it but it still came to us.

This is, by far, the best flashlight that I’ve ever owned. At 800 lumens, it is incredibly bright. If you hold the on button for a few seconds, it switches to a low light option at 100 lumens that is perfect for when you don’t need such a bright light.

I love no longer having to constantly replace batteries. The rechargeable red lithium charged using a USB 3. 0 is one of my favorite features. Charge time isn’t bad at all and the battery life per charge is really good.

The charging port is opened and closed by simply sliding from side to side which allows the flashlight to be waterproof and dustproof up to abut 1M. According to the MFG, it puts out a high output bullseye beam that provides both spot and flood coverage.

I would have liked it if they allowed you the option to control the beam like most traditional flashlights. But, the amount of light it produces is amazing regardless. This flashlight will light an entire room in the dark no matter where the beam is pointed.

I can’t wait to test it out in the woods next year, and love the utility clip that it comes with for that purpose. Overall, this is an incredibly bright flashlight with well thought out and practical features.

Spent $100 on this flashlight. Milwaukee promised it was rugged dustproof and built to last and was rechargeable. It was bright and worked well for 6 months. Home Depot would not honor the warranty and Milwaukee won’t either.

Milwaukee is going down the drain. In the past 4 years it gets worse and worse but the equipment gets more expensive. Goodbye Milwaukee! Get a Klein Tools Flashlight! It’s better and they stand by their products! Get rid of Milwaukee now!.

I absolutely loved this flashlight when I first got it. It was very bright and seemed very durable. That lasted about 3 week’s total. I noticed the light getting dimmer and dimmer even after full charge.

Then I dropped it while only standing flat on the ground and now the USB light will only flash green then right back red even after charging. I am very dissatisfied especially after being so excited with how it first worked.

I think my employee will need corrective eye surgery after I pointed this flashlight at him from about 15 feet away and said, “Man, check out how bright this flashlight is!” WHOOPS! The first click of the button is pretty basic, room-lit brightness, but be careful on that second click, because it unleashes the sun! The way this unit charges is really cool, and the fact that it has a USB on the bottom to charge your phone or whatever you need.

Going to the new USB is a good forward-thinking move by Coleman, but you’ll need another cord than the one provided to do current USB. (Forgot the numbered names off the top of my head) The grip is very ergonomic and the rubber-like material won’t slip.

The little tiny second light on the bottom is even more functionality to the flashlight. I could see this being very good for having just enough light in the middle of the night to see where you are walking by standing it on its face.

If you are a camping person, I would think this is the best flashlight you could have. Unless there are way more expensive models that have extremely long battery life, I would think on a single charge this one would last a good weekend with highly frequent use.

Lithium battery with USB charger in your vehicle. The light is VERY bright since it’s LED and has a wide radius for the size of the flashlight. You also get some MAG type pointed direction. Just don’t point it at someone’s face.

This product was for an outdoor camping adventure this week. I simply love the OneSource flashlight sytem. You can recharge the flashlight itself, use the flashlight, or use the rechargeable battery to charge your other devices! The OneSource name implies that you can use the same rechargeable Coleman battery across the Coleman products and they will work.

This is also a lithion-ion battery so the memory effect isn’t there. The product itself is lightweight for its class and the estimated use times are on target. I was able to use the flashlight and it has a long reach on high power but at low power, the viewing area is smaller.

This is not to say that the flashlight isn’t strong. It definitely is and I fully recommend that you get it because it was a godsend for camping. The terrain was treacherous but this OneSource flashlight took care of all that and more.

I think the product was built durable from the start so that you can use it roughly for all purposes. I simply adored and enjoyed the flashlight from Coleman and will continue using their products for time to come!.

I had originally planned to pack this light away with our camping gear since it’s rechargeable but also lightweight. It never made it to the gear boxes though. The day after it arrived we got hit with a tropical storm that knocked out our power for several days.

I used this flashlight non-stop it seemed. It was light and easy to carry around, I could easily recharge it from a power bank if needed and it was always handy and nearby if I needed to top off my phone.

It now lives in my kitchen and gets used several times a week by someone in the house. My only complaint was the end cap. The water resistant flaps to cover the charging ports are ever so slightly rounded and are not recessed at all.

Because of this, the flashlight has a hard time standing on its end. It would be a huge improvement to see those ports recessed a bit so the flashlight wouldn’t topple over when stood on the end cap to light up a large area or when I needed both of my hands for something.

Overall solid flashlight body and construction, however I’ve had to return mine twice to the company to get replacements due to faulty power/program button. Good thing it is a lifetime warranty. Very bright in its brightest mode.

Will light up surprisingly far. A little big, I like that I can use regular 18650 batteries in it however they provide a special 18650 battery that is made so that only that special one will show you charge level warnings and indicator light.

If you use a regular 18650 you loose the ability to see any charge level. Other beef I have was its programing options. You have to memorize a special sequence of quick half-presses of the power button and then a longer press to change programs.

I dont have a great memory and find it too much of a hassle to quickly change a program if I want to change the order in which light intensities are sequenced. The default program will start with the brightest and then down to the lowest with strobe between, which is a bit annoying as it takes four half-button presses to get to the lowest intensity and if you make one too many you have to start over again.

I like the strobe but I would have liked the lowest setting to be the first. You cannot have it both ways. There is a program where you can have the least intense the first to come up but then the strobe option is not available.

I find the brightest intensity nice but it drains the battery very quickly. I have to economise my light usage for the day if I am to keep using the brightest function. The light gets very hot too if used for more than a minute or so.

I’ve unfortunately lost my light somehere in the plant. (I work in production maintenance). I am trying a different model and am so far very happy with it. Fenix UC35.

I needed to replace my 3 cell MAG light. I put new batteries and an LED into the MAC and it was still not sufficient. I got the TK65R because of the reviews and the rechargeable battery. It is everything I needed in a large light.

Easy to turn on and off, rechargeable and INCREDIBLE light output. It will light up my work yard (approx 70′ x 200′) and I can see everything. I carry this in my truck for work and take it on road trips.

This light is great. It’s easy to use. The brightness and spread is impressive. It feels extremely rugged and isn’t too heavy to carry. For a large light it charges quickly. If you’re looking for a larger light that can take a beating this is for you.

this flashlight is bright. the one i had, when on high mode the light would drop down in brightness slightly for little bit than go back to brighter. it only comes with wall charger. the end that plugs into the flashlight is old style.

cylinder shape one pin plug in. no usb. no car charger. high brightness for one hour it says and 45 lumens low mode for 7 hours 183 meters when on high, so like 600ft distance. oh and the battery does not come out so u cant replace it when it dies, you just throw the whole flashlight away in the garbage when this happens.

i dont like that. what about recycling batteries u cant get it out to recycle. if battery was replacable and came with car charger i might have kept it. otherwise i liked the size of it and the brightness im just not cool with the battery.

not being able to replace it. having to throw the flashlight away. not sure if other models are the same meaning no battery replacement. check it out before u buy.

This is the best flashlight I ever had (and I’ve had a lot) and some of the best money I ever spent. I’ve always had good results with Stanley products and that’s the main reason I purchased this particular light.

It’s lightweight yet durable and throws out a powerful beam. It’s suitable for work or for general use around the house. It gets five stars from me. Highly recommended.

Got this for my LEO training law enforcement officer for those who don’t know. Well its an amazing flashlight I personally like it very much it’s size and shape make it very comfortable to carry on your duty belt even your pocket.

The distance on this flashlight is incredible. My favorite is the 3 settings it has high low and sos and it’s after you click it only takes half click to switch setting. I wish it came in black but this will do for now.

This flashlight can do the same thing a $170 streamlight stinger will do. Get it.

I get my walks in at night. I’m smart about it, and very aware of my surroundings, but taking this light with me, makes me feel ready for anything—even if that just means using the lowest setting to illuminate my feet when crossing streets.

Pros: Real, real, real bright—it’s not messing around, bad guys-beware! Sits in my hand easily—thumb on or off the button Red/green light when charging and finished Cons: When you twist the flashlight for a focused beam, you expose the charging port to the elements.

Likely won’t be a huge problem for me, but for someone else, it could be. Would be nice to have a silicone plug/spacer, so no matter how you use the light, it stays waterproof. The only other down side, was that though the flashlight came with tiny holes for a wrist strap, it didn’t come with one.

I’ve made do, with a really old wrist strap from a small camera. Totally recommend this flashlight. I don’t know about how long it really lasts per charge, as I’ve only used it once or twice per walk, and keep it with me for safety sake, I’m happy with it.

This is the 1st rechargeable LED light I’ve owned. Along with the benefit of a rechargeable battery that’s also replaceable, and the spot/flood adjustment, I like that this light has 3 output levels.

The light is definitely brighter than the commonly available 3 AAA cell lights I have owned. But while I the “Turbo” setting is noticeably brighter than “high”, the manufacturer’s claim of 1800 lumen output in turbo mode seems a bit far-fetched.

Two improvements I would definitely make are: 1. Change the USB micro charging port to USB “C”. And 2. Replace the completely useless “pocket clip” with one that doesn’t immediately fail to simply hold itself onto the light.

The clip is apparently made of an alloy of the softest, most malleable metals known to man. which should be named “unmaintainium” for it’s inability to maintain it’s own shape. Seriously. I have paper clips that are much harder to bend.

I bought this flashlight for its brightness & because it can be recharged instead of buying packs of AA batteries. The flashlight has two different settings; super-bright & bright. Plus, the light can be focused from a wide-light area into a more direct light by twisting the top up & down.

However, the flashlight will not light up sometimes as if the LED bulb connection is just a hair off. And when the light does finally come on sometimes it will flicker on & off while in use, which is frustrating.

I’m not sure how to tighten the LED bulb for a better connection. But that is a huge downside for this seeming rugged flashlight, which I plan on returning for a new one.

My favorite light I’ve ever owned. Exceptional quality , and durability that is hard to find these days. Small enough to fit in my pocket , and bright enough to to do the biggest job. I use the light every day and have for over a year.

I work night shift driving semi truck on a dedicated run. I use the light for all my vehicle inspections at work. I use the light fishing , hunting and mechanic work. I gift this light to all the ones I love.

Nebo is a top brand when it comes to flashlights. I have purchased many of them throughout the years and it is one of the only brands I trust. Although when they made the torch somebody slept through electronics class that day.

I have purchased 4 of these flashlights and bright as they might be the designer was not. They placed the positive and the negative ports at the same end of a half inch wide 3. 7 volt battery and then decided to magnetism it for the charger to attach.

Problem is it magnetized every drill shaving, staple, or magnetic piece of dirt and shorts out the battery. I have purchased 4 of these and still today I dont own one that works. The one i just bought from sportsman’s warehouse is already toast even before they asked for this review.

Title really says it, but to elaborate, I have been in a commercial/residential install/repair for about 15 years and have always carried a small flashlight, never know when you run into darkness in my job.

This flashlight is by far the brightest of any other small light I have had over the years, the Turbo mode is crazy bright, will still light up something in a bright room, great for high ceiling locations.

Although only use turbo mode in shorter time frames as it will get very hot! Accidentally found out the hard way when I felt my leg get very hot while driving, button was being held by the pressure of my leg and the seat.

1000 lumens outta this little guy makes it work hard but its awesome to have when needed. I also like the clip, it works as a headlamp as well if you just clip it to the bill of your hat. Small enough to fit in your pocket, bright enough for almost any need.

The charger is also very nice, can get knocked loose kind of easy but still very convenient. Overall I would definitely recommend this flashlight for really any purpose, camping, work, junk drawer, emergency kit(strobe feature also really bright), glove box.

Loved the old school Maglites. Been using Maglites for 20 years as a police officer. This new light is so much brighter and last longer on a charge. I can see Maglite has came a long way since my rookie days.

Love the light. It’s smaller than my old school lights but I love the new size. Perfect size for holding with your arm while you write. Got the traffic cone and it lights up the night. You won’t be disappointed with this light.

It charges fast and lasts approximately 4 hrs. No issues so far. I use this on duty and would trust my life with it. This light takes a beating with my job and still holds up. Get One!!!!!.

This pen light is not super bright. But sometimes a super bright light is just too much. I actually use mine every night in my hallway to get my keys in the door. Plus when walking my dog I use it. Pretty much anytime that I dont want a thousand Lux flashlight, I grab this one.

It charges pretty fast. The battery lasts quite a long time for such a small package. My only wish is that I wish it were a little more durable. But overall I am glad that I bought it. If something happened to it I would buy another one to replace it.

I am very happy I made this purchase. I was looking at all sorts of other flashlights as power had gone out at my house and of course I was not prepared. So I went looking and decided on this. Being able to recharge the flash light is awesome, It connects via Micro USB which kind of sucks since that is the old phone type connection but it does the job.

I would have wanted USB-C as that is the way most things are going. Still, it charges pretty quick The level of brightness was great too. 4 different levels of brightness. Did the job for me with power being out at my house.

I found myself using it more and more when I need some light working on the car or when I am doing small projects. The charge last quite some time as I have not had to charge it since the first time (had to use a power bank with my power out and all) and I have used it quite a few times.

It feels like a quality flashlight. They are built using aluminum and feels good in the hand. Not something that would slip. Comes with a clip as well as a lanyard. It is suppose to be water resistant as well, I have yet to try, to be honest I am a bit scared to but like it said, it is suppose to be.

For the money, i feel this was a great buy.

This is a really bright flashlight that claims to be 800 lumen with solid metal body and a rechargeable battery. I’m one of those flashlight enthusiasts. I can watch flashlight reviews at YouTube all day long.

There are many false advertisements, and even counterfeit products. Indeed it’s not easy to find quality flashlights. I ride road bikes, and bright light is essential for safe ride at night. This product satisfies all the features that I looked for.

Qualities I look for are 1. brightness — 800 lumen is most likely true comparing with a 700 lumen that I own. 2. rechargeable — yes, chargeable using a micro USB cable without taking out the battery.

The battery is replaceable if need-be. 3. metal body — yes, solid. It won’t be damaged in an accident. 4. water resistant or proof — yes IPX4 is good under raining. 5. battery life — not tested yet.

I will update 6. mode — 4 brightness levels, stable/strobe mode 7. beam focal and/or distance — not adjustable but well balanced 8. beam color — white. I don’t know the color temperature though. 9.

price — very reasonable for a solid 800 lumen flashlight. I haven’t tested (5) the battery life, but I give 5 star to all other points.

AVOID THIS FLASHLIGHT. Ordered the product in the spring. Charged it and it seemed good. It sat until this fall, when I finally got a chance to go camping. I charged it the night before my trip, but it would not light up.

Bummer. Since it was a few months between my purchase and the failure, Best Buy would not exchange the light. No exceptions available. At least it was only $15, right?.
