Great for small mouth bass. Works especially well in bright sun with still water. Lots of action on the 4 ‘tails’ seems irresistible for large bass. The smaller ones stayed away though.

I received a pack of the Pit Boss Jr. in a mystery tackle box. It was having a tough day of fishing so I thought I would give the pit boss a try. I have always been a fan of the power worm so it was a easy decision.

I think on about my 4th of 5th cast I landed a 3 lbs bass. I never stopped using it all day and managed to have a decent day. Since then I have caught my personal best bass 3 times using the pit boss.

I think its a big fish lure. I live in Canada so 6lbs bass are not all that common especially on inland lakes. I am a believer I have purchased several more packs I will never go bass fishing without one tied on.

Only down side is as with all power baits they don’t last long. but the darn things work!.

I received a pack of these in a tackle of the month club. Since it was power bait (best baits ever) I had confidence off the get go. First time I used them they produced big time mind you condition where great that day.

I used up the whole bag. I bought more next trip to BPS. Since then I have used them on tough days as well and they still produce where other baits did not. Now I have a 2nd go too bait other than the original power worm (still an awesome bait) I always have a Pit Boss tided on as well cuz fish just don’t let go easier to detect fish.

I like the California color rigged Texas with a 3/0 wide gap and a 1/8 oz tungsten bullet weight. I just bought over a $100. 00 worth of them on the spring fishing sale best time to buy them.

I have tried two other non piercing cull systems and found both to be poorly designed and manufactured. I knew the problems with the others so when I read the specs on the Cal Coast 2. 0 it was obvious that they had solved all the competitors weaknesses.

I like the fact that a balance beam is not included. Too much fish handling and too time consuming with a balance beam. I use a Rapala digital scale in conjunction with the Cal Coast tags and only handle each fish once.

I finally have the perfect culling system.

I have both V. 1 and V. 2. V. 1 came with a neoprene mesh bag to store them. V. 2 came with a rail for you to install on your boat to clip the cull tags. V. 1 definitely is stronger than V. 2 due to having thicker clips.

But if you know that a fish needs to close their mouth for max water expulsion out the gills for oxygen, the V. 2 is better in this situation as the fish can close their mouth more. I have not picked up a 5lb+ with a V.

2 but I have with a V. 1 and the V. 1 clip holds tighter. Physically, I can blend the clip on the V. 2 because of the thinner clips but cannot on the V. 1 because of the thicker clips. Both still function the same.

I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5 only because I had a fish come off in the live well. Has only happened once but that did take up time trying to get it out to cull during a tournament. Now, I am not saying I may have not closed the clip tight enough so it may be my fault.

Other than that I love them. Paired with the cal-coast balance beam it makes quick work of culling during a tournament! Would definitely recomend to others!! Great product!!.

First, installation was a bit of a pain but it ended up great. I power it with a 20V 2ah DeWalt battery and it works just fine even if they do not recommand it. Lasts about 8 hours. I was not gonna carry a super heavy lead-acid battery in a kayak that is already loaded with camping gear.

Being that I do a lot of kayak camping-fishing trips on large water bodies having a GPS/tracker was a must for me. Just got back from a trip and that feature has been great for not getting lost in difficult situations.

The user frendliness reminded me of an old Garmin GPS, not great. Far from Google map. Menus are a little difficult to get used to but. Contour mapping is nice. Sonar is great and powerfull. Could follow my jig all the way down 150′ of water easy.

So far Clearview has been useless. You can not see any fishes on that mode. Wich is the point of a ”fish finder”. Split screen is awesome. Another con is that when you need to bring it inside your house to add waypoints or else you will need an extra power cord at $50, Ouch! So all in all it is very good but I could have done without the extra cost of CV.

I installed this on my 13 foot boat for Gulf coast creeks and shallow water fishing. The chart for this device is like a blank sheet of paper, it does not have land, water or navigation markers. The only information the chart will display is where you have been, the depth contours that your device recorded or from the Garmin Active Captain application which shares depth contours from other users.

I use my cellphone apps such as Google Maps and Navionics for the big picture if I am in unfamiliar areas. Depth and voltage alarms are very handy. The fish-finder display options are as detailed as most inshore fishing could require.

The screen size is the smallest I would use on any boat, easy to see and interpret at a glance while moving. Very satisfied.

Would I like to have Shimano Stradics on all of my freshwater rods??? Certainly. Does it make sense to me from a price perspective? Absolutely not. I fish for bass, pickeral and panfish from my kayak in a variety of lakes and rivers.

I rarely crack the 5 pound mark with any of these fish. I’ve found the Pflueger President lineup to provide the right amount of quality, durability, functionality for this type of fishing at a very reasonable price.

I like the XT version simply for the reduced weight (and I do love the cork handle on the reel). There are quite a few reel sizes in their lineup so you can really dial-in the exact drag/line capacity the suits your needs.

I’ve found the 30 and 35 sizes to be great for most Medium and Medium Light spinning setups. Where these sizes fail is with the heavier crankbaits and larger spinnerbaits. The Pflueger XT drag system and gears are of quality construction and well planned; I have three years on my XTs with no fails yet.

If you’re into the lighter freshwater fishing scene and don’t want to break the bank (but appreciate some quality features); I’d definitely recommend the XT series of spinning reels.

I bought one of these in 2026 as a compliment to my first Carbonlite spinning rod and was impressed with it. I then bought another for my Dobyns Fury rod I use for Ned Rigs etc and it was good as well.

This year I bought two more for my Cabelas Tourney Trail rods and one is good, but the other has an annoying noise that comes and goes when reeling in. Pflueger used to be my go to brand, but after this experience, as well as issues with another more expensive Pflueger I bought two years ago that was ‘fixed’ at Pure Fishing and took a dump again, I will be going with another brand like Savage Gear or perhaps Shimano.

Disappointing after all these years of being such a great brand.

Purchased two pflueger president 30xt reels a couple months ago. Was trying to use these for trout fishing. They feel great and are very smooth when fishing line isn’t getting knotted up around spool or bail.

I thought the line was the issue at first. Have properly spooled Sauger, P-line, and a couple other 6pound fluorocarbon lines keeping it tight with problems continuing to occur. I don’t over fill it with line and keep it tight fishing.

Since purchasing I’ve talked with other people who have had same issues. Fixed it by sticking to Shimano reels. I’ve never had this problem with those.

I have a small 12’ rowboat and this is my first ever fish finder. Mounted this unit on an ammo can and the transponder on the trolling motor. Would be nice if it had the option to add a battery to make this a package.

I’ve had the unit on the water for a total of about five hours. Improved instructions and the ability to have a tutorial mode to learn the unit before I hit the water would be helpful. The unit is pretty user intuitive once you spend the time to get familiar with where things are located.

It took me about 20 minutes to get the QuickDraw contours feature to work. Deepest water I was in was about 20feet. I could easily follow my jig, as I raised and lowered it, on the screen. The one thing I did notice is that the lake I was on has two small islands, larger of the two would be approximately 20’ x 40’, while using the quick draw feature it did not show a land mass or show a blank area on the map.

The islands are nonexistent and on the display are really under two feet of water even though I could beach my boat and have a picnic without getting soggy sandwiches. The screen was easily viewed with a straight on look giving it the best brightest clear view.

From the side the screen seemed dull. The cord on the transducer is about 20’ long while the power cord is only 3’. This isn’t a big deal for me since I’ve got the battery in and unit mounted on an ammo box.

Just thought it was worth mentioning. Mounting the transponder on the back of my little rowboat would not work due to the riveted seam sticking out. If it were shimmed out with treated plywood I could have probably made it work but then the transponder would be permanently mounted on the boat with the wire exposed to all Mother Nature fury.

My boat is parked outside. Overall this unit is exactly what I expected to get. I still need to play around with it and continue to understand all the features and options it can do to improve my fishing trips but I’m pretty satisfied and would definitely buy it again.

What would make this a five star review would be: the addition of a small tube of marine chalk for transom mounting of the transponder. Longer power cord Battery option package Case option like the striker cv4 package Better instructions Tutorial mode.

No more fumbling with those crappies hope you measured correctly. Easy, spot on. Drop him in slide him out with easy to read length markings.

I have this product. It is easy to use. I did however took a black permanent market and marked a line at the states size limit. That way I can quickly check for legal fish!

The best way to measure Crappie. It helps me a lot making quick measurement when fishing.

I must confess, I purchased a half dozen of these bad boys when they launched. The need to re-up hasn’t come around, yet. With that said, this bait calls in some fish! Superb walk the dog action. You can tell some time was spent dialing in the design.

My only complaints are the size, and hooks. Here in Florida, I couldn’t tell you how many 1lb largemouth have exploded on a 6″ spook. The hound certainly doesn’t discriminate catching small fish with its small profile.

It does fool the big ladies, but for a topwater plug I feel it should be larger. For a smaller topwater I suppose it makes sense to use lighter wire hooks. The ones from the first run I purchased had really light hooks and they bent easily, even on light rods, line, and drag.

Maybe this has changed since the launch? Most hard baits require treble hook upgrades anyway, and for the price point the hound still overs lots of value, and catches a ton of fish. #flobass.

I love top water fishing and I have tried a LOT of poppers. None are quite like this. Its sturdy, well designed, the rattle is amazing, its action is nice and bloopy, and (I can’t stress this next part enough) it catches fish.

This is the gold standard for me. I have bought it in every available color. It just works.

I’ve fished for the majority of my life, and most of the fish that I’ve caught have been top water blow ups. I’ve had this lure for maybe 2 months and I’ve already lost count on how many fish I’ve caught with it.

This thing is by far one of, if not the best top water I’ve ever used. Id also like to add that I have used a lot of 6th Sense lures/baits and have yet to catch anything😉 Googan keeps it simple, and they know why they’re doing.

bought this pack a week ago and already caught so many bass in them. Been fishing them on shallow water drops on a wacky rig. The smell is very great and unique. Really recommend

The rod was really cooked! I’m very familiar with rod splines as I have built many rods in my day but this rod is just plain dog leg crooked. If I had seen this rod in person I would not have purchased it.

It is a 6 1/2, 2 piece rod and it arrived in one piece in a 8 ft long tube open at one end and it fell out of the tube when I picked it up from my porch! Not sure if it could have been damaged or bent from falling out of the tube during shipping like it did for me all though I don’t see how that could happen with out breaking it.

There was no packing slip with it. I purchased it for a friend as a gift but didn’t give it to him. Instead I went to Wallmart and bought another ugly stick that was not messed up to give him. If I had a packing slip and a reasonable way to send it back I would.

It looks to me like it could be a factory reject or something. I was very dissatisfied with the purchase.

Nice and compact. Not sure ifni like it more than telecoping stule but ot soes seem a lot stronger. Caught a nice 1. 5 to 2 pound bass and it had decent play. Cast pretty well even thoughbi have heavierr line on it than it should.

Need to make sure allmsections are on tight. A coue if forst cast top two sections went into the pond also. good thing lure didnt break off so i got it all back. Now i attach with eyes 90deg off then twist after putting together to makenaure its all snug.

Reel seems to be pretty decent for price also.

Bought the rod before the price hike. Really liked it I caught a 30 pound black drum on the beach at Ft Pickens near Pensacola. Have since caught several medium sized reds with it. Ok, great! Great action for 10 pound line.

Then last Friday at Dauphin Island throwing a 2 oz surf weight the rod broke (snapped) above the large first guide on the forward swing of the cast. I was somewhat shocked to say the least. That’s never happened with me and this brand before.

Love me some Ugly Sticks! Anyway, I have 2 more of the same rods. Might consider adding a little more backbone toward the butt of the rod.

I was need a time keeper to use in hars situations. I buy this Casio for $20. 00. Worth every penney. I would paid double for this wach if they would have a scratch rezistent lence. Works great, keep the time like my atomic watch.

After use, just wash with water an wiped. I recomend this watch to everybody.

Nice watch, for the price, but dead wrong about the best times for fishing. Went fishing when the screen was full of fish and the word “Fish” was flashing. After 2 hours, I hadn’t gotten a bite. Went to another spot and the same result.

This watch is accurate and easy to use. I am 14 and it fits my wrist well. I would recommend this watch to others.

A lot of people tell me that this style of worm is for follow up to smaller bass. I like to use them on hard days and I don’t consider anything over 4 pounds small, but I suppose there are less difficult waters where that may be the case.

I have used Yum, Yamamoto and other Senko type worms, and have great success with basic mixes of either watermelon or green pumpkin with red flake. The Ocho offers a little bit different action and feel with its eight sides, it still cast well and they have a color called big texan that kills for me in Florida.

It’s not just a follow up down here some days. On difficult days its one of my go tos, either wacky, nose rigged or texas and I have caught bass exceeding 6 pounds on all approaches. I like the big texan because it has both the red and orange flake.

Its difficult to see in the online catalog pics but check them out in a store sometime.

This thing caught 2 trout before it was bit clean in half by a trout. About as fragile as a gulp. Fish definitely liked it (which is why I’m giving it 2 stars) but not worth the $8 if you only catch a couple fish on it.

I purchased this thing a week ago and it’s still going strong. It has caught me a few HUGE bass and still no defects. It’s tough. I tried to post the photo but even the photo is to large. I’ve fished the many ponds in my neighborhood for years with no luck and hooked a hawg my first day using this and another today.

Amazing!.

I got to tell you that these are some AWESOME lures, they are made really well. As soon as I got them I went out on my dock and caught several Speckle Trout and 2 Puppy Drums and the lure can withstand a lot of abuse.

This is my favorite go to lure and then the Vudu Shrimp. Good work guys, Thanks A+++++++.

I bought a handful of these baits after a suggestion from a friend. Let’s just say I’m impressed. I fish a LOT and have fallen for my fair share of hyped up recommendations from fishing buddies. So, I go out on a fine Minnesota summer morning and am using the 1/2 oz Yellow Perch bait on a bait casting rig.

I caught several very respectable bass in the 4lb range, some very good Northern Pike, and a great Muskie! This is a workhorse of a bait. It’s a great sinking rattle bait with a square nose. The effectiveness is easy to see and if you want to put fish in the boat, buy some of these.

If you’ve fished Rapala Clackin Raps in the past. I’d recommend this bait as a superior replacement now that Rapala canceled that bait. I also like the sturdiness of this bait, many baits show wear after toothy fish love on them, this harder plastic weathers abuse very well.

Now look at the price here on Discounttackle. com and you’ve got no reason to not put some of these in your tackle box. Signed Jim, a guy who fishes 75-100 days a year.

I gave it 5 stars because I bought it from advice and was excited to use it. But, on my first trip. I some how cast it so unbelievably high up in a tree. Honestly, I have absolutely no idea what happened on that cast, everything felt normal, but somehow it was way up in a tree.

It looked impossible from where I was… I was hurt. But the lure did no wrong, it will forever live way up in a tree at River Park North. Bright and shiny, almost new. never getting a chance to live out its life catching big’ol bass.

Maybe one day it will be gifted to someone as it gets knocked out of the tree by an angry squirrel.

Purchased the Frittside 7 this spring. After catching a few fish with it, it filled with water. Took it home and tried to find a crack in the bait to no avail. Drilled a small hole in it to drain the water and sealed the hole.

Went fishing. Filled with water again. Repeated process and added “crazy glue” at hook hangers. Still filled with water. The bait catches fish but durability not so much.

Really loved this poppin cork. The weight was perfect the sounds was perfect. It seemed tl he pretty durable and i was catching fish all day with this. Mostly reds which is what we were targeting but also landed my personal best trout and a few black drum.

Best popper in the marketplace. I’ve fished with many styles of popping corks. This one by far exceeded my expectations. It cost a little more but the benefits outweigh the cost.

Best cork I have ever used, This thing is bulletproof . I am ordering about a dozen more for my friend who is a charter capt. fishing Reds and Snook in the Gulf.

The Lunker City Slug-Go is an appropriately named bait. While it catches all sizes of fish it is a Go-To bait for Lunkers in the springtime. It can be rigged many different ways; however, going weightless is an extremely effective way to draw in the big strikes.

Either fished as a darting minnow sub-surface or allowing the bait to flutter downward with subtle twitches. It’s only a matter of time before you too will be hooked on and hooked up using this bait.

Tight lines!.

My choice for soft plastic stick baits. Casts well enough with the right setup. Catches fish!

I use this lure every time I go fishing. No matter the time of the year, or conditions; its the BEST lure you can buy. I rig it weightless on a 1/O Gamakatsu G lock hook. twitch and pause over and over.

Its a gaurenteed bass catcher. I have caught big bass on it, Ive caught brook trout, Pike, Perch, Crappie. the species you can catch is endless. Its awesome. Stop reading and buy it.

Strike king continues to produce with the perfect plastic line. I have fished these on jigs and by themselves with a flipping weight. These plastics are softer than the zoom brush hogs and give better action.

I will say that the zoom brush hogs are more durable, but in my opinion, the trade off is worth it. They are still more durable than a lot of baits that produce the same action. Great action on the retrieve and on the fall.

When I rig them on a jig, I cut the plastic down to the first appendages then slide it all the way up to the bait keeper. I think it keeps it a little more compact and I like that look a little better.

I also snip the “pinchers” from the tip up to about a third of the way up along the line, which gives a little more action.

This bait produces great action. I recommend using a weight when fished, it looks lifelike as it bounces along the bottom of a lake or pond. It is great for flipping into structure too. My favorite part is its great action, it mimics a crawfish in my opinion.

But to a bass it is one thing. FOOD! The coffee and salt scent is great, it makes bass hold onto it longer. Overall a great bait.

Fishing my local reservoir, I noticed how clear the water was so I slid an 1/8 oz weight on my leader with a 2/0 hook and Texas rigged the green pumpkin hang craw and caught a beautiful 3 lb + smallie.

What a morning !!!.

The veritas range is absolutely awesome however the three piece i bought was a bit of a mystery. The three piece rod had a very visible bow in it. I really liked the idea of this rod because i could keep it in my car out of the way of my wife’s eye and ear shot giving me the flexibility to have a fish on the run type thing.

While the missus is shopping lol. I would certainly like to get another one.

Extremely light but also super strong and can feel the smallest of bites. Great fun even on the smallest of fish. Went out to lake Macquarie with a mate back in July and caught some squid and bream which were unfortunately not quite legal size but still had a bloody ball with this rod which i bought to go with my small baitcasting reel.

I was happy to catch the smaller fish and squid all day and can”t wait to get a good size fish on which i know i can be confident it has plenty of power to bring in any fish in that i will catch.

Great rod (so far). I, as an inexperienced surf-caster find it easy to use and get good distance. The only negative with this rod is that the guides on the top section only have a small diameter hole for the line, and a modest size (I use 38kg/10kg line Black Magic) swivel will not pass through it.

So I have to tie it on once assembled and cut it off to re-stow the rod. Not a deal breaker but surprising considering everything else good about the rod.

Fish the Pacific for rockfish and lings. Both love the Gulp product line and 6” paddleshad. Like other reviews state, they don’t hold up like some of the other brands of swim baits but they catch way more fish.

With limited time to fish I would rather use a pack or two of these to play with fish all day rather than using another brand that looks just as good and holds up all day but doesn’t put fish in the box.

Berkely shouldn’t change a thing with these baits.

These were the worst. Dried out as soon as i oened the packege. Love Bass Pro and Berkley products overall, but these were a disappointment.

Berkley did it right on the Paddle Shad. Great action, similar to traditional soft plastic paddle tails but with the Gulf scent Held up well, can catch many fish with the same bait. Will be a go to for trout and reds.

This lure is an oldie but goodie not to be missed. In more than 30 years of fishing it,the Smithwick Devil’s Horse is the most consistently productive largemouth lure I have every used. I typically use the 3/8 0z.

silver with black back on a small to medium pond in New England. At any time of day or conditions, towards the shoreline or even in the middle of the pond, this lure catches fish! I have eight of them in my box and use almost nothing else.

The technique that works for me: cast it out, let it land and settle for a few seconds, then gently twitch the rod two or three times to cause the lure to “splurkle” a bit — resembling a wounded or dying fish.

Typically, the bass hit it when it lands or after the first couple of splurks. If nothing happens I use a crank & pause retrieve that will sometimes coax them. You may need to experiment with colors for what works best on YOUR favorite water.

My fishing buddies encouraged me to buy this devil’s horse as they had very good fishing experiences with it. I went with them on a 3 day trip and they were right. we caught a number of large mouth bass with it.

The Devil’s Horse has been around a long time because it works! I picked up a half dozen in varying colors, for a recent Ontario fllyin, at my go to store, Cabela’s. It didn’t matter what color we used.

The Norther Pike were wild about them. The strikes were explosive and most were full breach. Retrieve or troll fast enough to get both spinners going with plenty of splash and if they are there, this lure will drive them nuts!.

Shirts are great as far as keeping sun off and comfortable material. Love the holes in sleeves for thumb as keeps sun off hands with this feature. However I wish they would make a draw string on hoodies so when going fast in boat the hoodie stays on.

Not always still fishing so moving from spot to spot my ears get burnt and prefer to keep hoodie on. BUT unfortunately i have invested lots of money in these shirts and they all fade to a yellow color.

I have tried not washing/ hand washing and every time i buy a new one compare to old and the white shirts look yellow in comparison to the new white. The green end up having faded marks even ones in my closet i have not worn been in there few months.

They blue shirts seem fine.

The fabric is So soft and light. It has great sun protection. I wore mines on a fishing trip and it held up real nice. It’s a great fit, very flattering top. I love the thumb hole on the sleeves. Extra sun protection for my hands.

I have 2 of these shirts. I also wear them to the beach. Love this shirt.

Love these shirts. I use them as an extra layer in Florida and they are the perfect weight. Not too hot. Nice and breathable. Super comfortable. True to size. They are also long enough for my long torso which is hard to find.

I own two and would definitely buy more!!.
