Once immigrants have been “socialized” it becomes much less likely that they will create any wealth. While Stanley does not address the point specifically, if there ever were an argument to be made for unfettered immigration it would be this: immigrants have to succeed and create wealth by their own entreprenurial activities.

They are not members of any “club”, have no network to drawn on, have no family to rely on. They have to succeed on their own. Case it point: Google’s founders – both first generation Americans. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to become wealty in one generation, and is prepared to swim against the tide of consumerism and entitlement mentalities which threaten to drown America.

I loved the discoveries and statistics given in the book. It really helped to put the bigger picture into hinds sight. Helps you to see the real growers of wealth and their lifestyle.

You might stumble on the cheaper version of this. If you did, that’s the smaller version with smaller fonts and tighter spacing. This one you are looking at right now is the bigger wider version thus the more expensive price.

As a parent of teenage twin boys and 20 -year teaching veteran, I first heard of this book from a high school student. After speaking to the newly inspired reader, I borrowed the book. The same night, I ordered two copies for home that will eventually land in my lending library.

The writing is accessible and easily understandable. The difficult topic of how to motivate teens is effectively addressed. There is a religious message within the text, but it is not overwhelming or alienating for someone who doesn’t feel as strongly or of the same faith.

My teens resisted (imagine that) reading a nonfiction book — at first. Then, they started really reading the content. Fight over. My family of five is all reading the book; with only 2 copies, we have to share.

There is no doubt we will finish and come away stronger: alone and together. Overall, a great read for teens, parents who want to understand and motivate them, and teachers who want to educate them.

Finally a book that tells one of the greatest problems in America and what to do about it. Too many lazy people that are addicted to technology and not willing to do the “hard things” that made this country great.

That’s one reason why this country is going down hill.

I bought this for my four kids. It worked well with my two oldest: my 8 and 10-year-old. It was too hard for my 3 and 5-year-old though. If I had to say the perfect age range for this, I’d say 6-9. Overall though, good product for the price.

The chore chart is surprisingly great quality. It’s heavier and sturdier than I expected. My two recommendations would be: first, to diversify the games more. Like, instead of having Word Searches each lesson.

Maybe have a crossword one and a descramble word game the next. And second, make the mission accomplished sticker sheet a little clearer. So that after every activity they finish, they know which sticker they earned and what it looks like.

Hi! My husband and I are FP graduates (but do you really ever graduate?). Our 7 y/o daughter wanted a kitten for Christmas. But I’m as cheap as sin and a cat (though it would bring joy to my daughter, costs more money).

Our daughter, knowing she has to ‘sell’ me on some of her schemes pitched, “Mama, what if you and Daddy pay for the kitty one month and then I pay for it the next?” Now she had my attention. YEARS ago, I heard Mr.

Ramsey speak about not doing an ‘allowance’ with his kids, rather they got ‘commissions’. Hence, I ordered the kit to refresh my 10 y/o memory. It is fabulous! We just finished a short work-week b/c we implemented the chore chart on a Thursday.

She WORKED with purpose and with an eye to details! When we counted out the six 1-dollar bills into her hand, the smile on her face was priceless!!! Ok, so the info and workbook for my daughter are great.

The marker board is a bit too small. My daughter needs more space between the lines to write her chores. The magnets are a fun idea, but don’t match our chore list for her. (But that’s no big deal at all.

). The marker/eraser that came with it maybe froze in shipping? She used it for a couple of things, but it was clumpy. When we went to erase the black marks, it smeared and made a pretty big mess of the board.

We have a ‘magic’ cleaner that was able to fix it, so no harm, no foul.

I am very happy to have purchased this curriculum program for my son’s personal finance class. There are only minor issues that I feel compelled to mention in this review. The positives: I’ve been watching the videos with him and while it isn’t super current, it isn’t terribly out of date or old looking.

I appreciate the workbook and how it forces him to be engaged and follow along. The content is good and the lessons are short and easy to digest. We binge watch a whole chapter together once a week, so maybe even a little too short and easy.

The student interviews are a nice touch. The negatives: The disks arrived in a timely fashion but the case was broken and a couple DVDs were loose inside the case. One thing that has really bothered me is how loud the music is compared to the talking.

It is actually the most bothersome thing about this curriculum. I wish I had a parent answer key so I could quickly check my son’s work. For the most part, it is common sense and easy since I’m watching along with him.

However, an answer key would help for the one question I had no idea what they were looking for as well as speed in grading his work. We just finished chapter three and I didn’t really feel like the amount of time spent on debt and financial struggles in marriage was relevant to my 17 year old son.

Sure, it might help him in the future but it felt like too much time devoted to a topic irrelevant to a teenager’s life. I thought it would be good to warn teens about the dangers of debt/nsf fees, etc.

, but more important to show them what they should be doing to be successful. We are only three chapters in so I can’t say too much more about the content. I am happy to be giving this knowledge to my children and appreciate the videos!.

My high school daughter is taking this course, and I am sitting in on the videos. I did not expect it to be so engaging. The course says things that hit home for me and I think “Ugh, I do that. ”, and I’m not gonna lie I cringe a little at myself.

Then you say things that make me open up from my recoiled state, and you teach how to make it better. Lastly, you say things that strengthen me to want to do what you say. Notice I said in the beginning this course is for my daughter – LOL.

I am enjoying and learning. My daughter is really understanding what you are teaching. She is doing the work in the book, and she has told me she knows what kind of spender she is and is making her budget.

We are enjoying our teaching of Foundations in Personal Finance. It goes right along with the teachings we learned a few years ago while attending Financial Peace University. Our children are hopefully going to be more savvy with there money than we have been.

The only kink we’ve found in this program is accessing the teacher’s tools as they are only on the CDs and not available online for reviewing or printing. Most laptops nowadays don’t have a cd drive, so offering an online link option to all the content would be very helpful! Otherwise I would have given it 5 stars.

I spent all of my extra time for 3 days, just flipping pages as fast as I could. I was transfixed by the fact that I was reading a true story. It is far more gripping than a novel.

I purchased this book and workbook for my teenage son. He loves it. I use this as a parenting tool. I regularly ask him, does your red book say anything about this situation? He instantly remembers or hl goes to check and updates me.

He referenced it himself when a circumstance occurred. He said, mom this situation shows me why I should keep studying and continue applying while being responsible.

This version of the worldwide bestselling ‘7 Habits’ is by Stephen’s son, and is a cracking read. Puts the 7 habist in a easy to understand format and gives ‘baby steps’ to develop each habit. This is all supported by Sean Covey’s really good website.

I couldn’t recommend this book higher. Everyone should own two or three!.

Straightforward read for the average investor thinking through retirement planning. Many topics covered in sufficient depth to provide a solid understanding. Social Security, Health Insurance, Pensions, etc are covered.

Jane Bryant Quinn is one of a couple authoritative sources for financial planning and retirement planning so it’s great to get this important information directly from her.

Having a high IQ is normal related to doing well in school and getting good grades. However Robert Kiyosaki in his book Financial IQ says that doing well in traditional school. Does NOT guarantee that you will make alot of money in the real world.

In order to make rich in todays business you have to have a very high financial IQ. Robert says that we all have problems today. The poor have problems with not having enough money and the rich have the problem of having to much money.

The solution is how we handle the problems. Robert talks about the value of the american dollar is continuing to go down in value and if you planning on working hard to save money get out of debt – Means you are working to be poor.

This book will not tell you what to do – But will teach you how to think, grow and raise your financial IQ. So you will know what to do, that best fits your goals and dreams. This is a must read if you plan on having time & money in the future.

I loved your book. I believe it is one if not the best training book on finances young or older. I must say I am a cousin in financial thinking to Dave. It was amazing to me how much we are alike growing up in same period.

We have been extremely blessed, more than we deserve by doing the same principles that Dave talked about. My parents were extremely wise for a printer and hair dresser. They were financially well off, yet made me pay for my own college.

They always provided work for me to earn money, but let me pay my own way through college not only debt free but making more money yearly then the professors teaching me. Your book is a great asset for those of us who want to take control of our lives and set an example for our children to follow.

Know Yourself Know Your Money was very illuminating. I am ashamed to say it, but I am a 64 year old woman who has never harnessed her finances. After reading Rachel’s book I was able to recognize where some of my money dysfunction originated.

Finances were a mystery to me, stuff came with employment when you got a paycheck, you could buy what you wanted. Until I started asking myself the difficult questions I was okay with my financial ignorance.

Budgeting is still difficult, but I am attempting. I have paid off all debt except for my house. I have established the original $1000 emergency fund and I headed toward three months. I still have some money decision anxiety but when I read Rachel’s book I was able to identify multiple issues that I need to address.

But my anxiety is diminishing with every step I take. The one thing I have always had is the heart to give. I am thankful that Rachel’s approach was tender enough to keep me interested in doing the work.

Rachel made the process of handling money approachable.

I love how Rachel explains various childhood money ‘classrooms’ & how she walks you through challenges you face based on how you may have grown up. She gives insight to the next level of self & how you spend money.

The book itself is the usual excellent Terry Pratchett/Discworld faire, and the character of Moist von Lipwig is, as always, hysterical. I ordered this book the same day I ordered another from a different website.

Making Money arrived within one week. I am still waiting on the other book; if you’re after a good delivery service, Booktopia is officially my favourite.

Moist von Lipwig is back, along with many others from Going Postal. Also making brief cameos are various members of the Night Watch, although in most cases far too briefly. There are, of course some new characters, mostly human.

Fresh from overhauling the Ankh-Morpork post office, the reformed con man Moist von Lipwig is presented by the wily Patrician with an opportunity to take over the Royal Mint. Or not. The Patrician is a man who believes in free choice.

The Patrician’s free choice, at any rate. It seems the banking industry is in a bit of a pickle, and the new boss has a bone to pick (or chew, as the case may be). Moist maneuvers through introducing a new way of looking at money, leading to a denouement that, well, all I can say is it involves pie.

The story is inventive, typical Pratchett, although if you aren’t a Discworld fan, you may have trouble following along. There were a few laugh-out-load moments, but mostly just solid, wry, vintage Pratchett.

Overall, well worth the money if you know the Discworld. Otherwise read “Guards,Guards”, then “Feet of Clay”, and at minimum “Going Postal” to acclimate yourself to the wonderful world of Discworld, and the fascinating city of Ankh-Morpork.

This book is very good. It starts you off in typical Pratchett style with Lord Vetinari and Moist Von Lipwig juxtaposed with the Tyrant keeping his quarry in doubt about his intentions for the entire book.

It is well paced, with quite a few unique characters and a very tight plotline. I was pleasantly amused through most of the story until a point toward the end which had me laughing so hard that I could not stop.

Tears pouring from my eyes and stomach aching, literally. I would suggest this book for anyone from early teen to any age. It has the dry wit and tiny bits of humour thrown in to keep you interested right up to the incredibly amusing, action packed ending.
