20 Best Filters For Landscape Photography (2023 Updated)

The 58mm Altura Photo Professional Photography Filter Kit (UV, CPL Polarizer, Neutral Density ND4), as sold by Digital Goja, is a much welcomed and inexpensive addition for my new camera kit. The 58mm filters fit my Olympus lens (M.

Zuiko Digital 14-150mm) on a Micro 4/3 body. These filters are so affordable, I don’t need to buy an adapter for different filters I have for other lenses. The filters are nicely crafted metal, threaded top (for attachment to the camera lens) and bottom (for layering filters).

It’s thin design means I won’t see vignetting when going wide-angle, and it doesn’t get in the way of my lens hood. Must say I relish the case they came in, with mesh enclosures in a nylon case. I will leave the Ultraviolet filter on the lens permanently for scratch protection, and layer on the polarizing filter for my sunny, outdoor shots.

This Circular Polarizing doesn’t have the German precision-made split-bezel design that allows for filter counter-rotation to dial-in the perfect polarization, but you would pay much, much more for those CPL filters.

Digital Goya exceeded my expectations in shipping speed, packaging, and pricing.

I bought my first Altura 62mm CPL for my other lens. Unfortunately, the purchase was a mistake (my typing error) because I needed 72mm CPL, I already have a Hoya 62mm CPL. My initial mistake became an opportunity to compare Altura CPL with Hoya CPL.

While the Altura did “OK”, it did not perform as well as the Hoya. but the Hoya was almost 4 times as expensive. I also have a lens that has 52mm screw-in filters, one of which is a Tiffen CPL. Getting to the chase, I perform a very controlled series of test.

Bottom line, the Altura CPL was practically an ND2 filter, did poorly in polarizing the reflection on shinny object and water / ice reflection that was handled easily by the Hoya and Tiffen. I gave the Altura 62mm CPL to a friend.

He like it that he asked me to order this Altura 77mm three filter set and a three filter set Altura 72mm CPL. I gave this three-filter set 4 because of the UV and ND4, but the CPL alone is maybe a 2-star.

After teaching photography for a number of years on the high school and university levels, I KNEW there were good filters out there besides the “usual” big name brands. I can say that these filters have exceeded my expectations and the filter “wallet” and microfiber cleaning cloth were added bonuses better than expected as well.

Great product at a great price. I used the polarizing filter on a recent cruise in the Caribbean with great results. This is an excellent buy. G. Brown, Texas.

This really is extremely good value. Well made, good optics for the price range, it really depends how much money you can afford to tie up on an item that will, probably, spend most of it’s life in your camera bag.

It covers pretty well the full range of ND stops from 1 to 10 with guide divisions clearly marked on the periphery. There is also the ability to back it right off where the effect is negligible, which aids re-focussing, without removing the filter.

Spending a lot more money, like 5 times more, will give you an optically better filter. but do you really need it? Any slight colour cast can easily be batch fixed in Lightroom anyway, so how much are you really going to use it? I got mine to use outdoors with small, portable, flash (strobe) units to avoid using HSS , which I think is a poisoned chalice anyway, and it works!.

First variable ND filter I have purchased. only negative is that the lens shade will not fit with this filter on the lens as the outer ring is larger than the inner filter size purchased. Color seems neutral, and effect seems uniform over the entire field.

Will be very useful for varying exposures in video w/ camera set for entirely manual exposures so no step like exposure changes during videography. Smooth transitions, and fades. Will likely also use it for stills for wide open apertures and slow shutter speeds for moving water effects.

Beautifully packed and delivered. There are markings for less and more effect on the outer ring so you know which way you are going and what to expect in exposure changes.

There appear to be different specification K&F faders and this appears to be of the lower type. The optics seem fine without any serious colour cast. However, there is no hard stop for min and max fade so you have to keep an eye on the filter ring markings, although it’s pretty obvious if you overshoot as the fade affect becomes patchy.

More of a gripe is that there is very little thread on the front to stack more filters and that the filter’s front ring is larger than its fixing thread, meaning that you can’t then attach a lens hood.

at least I couldn’t. You could attach the lens hood first, then the filter but this is a fiddly option. All in all good value for what I paid for it.

I bought this as a lens protection filter because it was the only 34mm in stock. Only two ‘regular’ mfgs make a 34mm – Tiffen and Heliopan. This Tiffen is uncoated. Pretty much what that means is that the only time it does not degrade your image is if it is an overcast day, or the sun is behind your back.

if you take pics with the sun in the image, or just outside, the flare – veiling and otherwise – will ruin your shot. Same if you take pics at night and there are light points in your frame – they will reflect back with the uncoated filter.

I read a big comparison test on lenstip, and the Heliopan is only slightly better! So I am really glad that filter was out of stock as it is about 5 times as expensive and basically not good. I didn’t bother returning this filter as I will use it in dusty places, or by the ocean where there is salt/sand in the air.

That’s what it is worth for. What I do recommend is getting a 34-37mm step up ring as that then opens your filter selection to mfgs who make superb filters like the top of the line Hoya range, or B+W.

Like many other VNDs, the Tiffen has an x emerge at the end of its rotation, and unfortunately no hard stops to prevent it. It also has a slight, greenish color cast. That said, it doesn’t look unnatural, and actually makes the image pop.

Any tint can be fixed in post easily if needed. The important thing is that the Tiffen has impeccable sharpness and skin tone rendition. The image still feels crisp. The build quality is also impressive, and has a pleasant weight to it.

The variable Nd turns smoothly, and the filter screws in and out of the lens thread easily. As long as you are aware of the x-pattern, and don’t mind a bit of color cast, this is a great filter.

I read a few recent reviews on this saying things about color casts, which is easily correctable in post but still not what you want. I went ahead and bought this anyway and I’m SO glad I did. It comes in a high quality case which I like alot.

Keeps the filter free of dust and dirt. The ND filter is very easy to operate and produces great results. I shot long exposure during the day and this ND filter made that possible. No dreaded X pattern unless you go past the maximum ND amount which is a no brainer and no color casting on my images.

I took photos with and without this (changing the shutter speed to produce the same exposure) and couldn’t see a difference which is FANTASTIC. I highly recommend this filter.

I waited a long time before ordering a variable ND filter. I’ve been meaning to do so for a while now, but all the reviews I read had some negative comments to make, either regarding image softness or funny color casts.

It seemed like the only alternatives were either dirt-cheap copycats or super-expensive originals. But when Hoya finally released their own variable density filters at a reasonable price, I had to give it a try.

Optically, this thing is amazing. It works nearly flawlessly. There’s no added color cast or softness, everything just looks beautiful. I can slow my shutter speed with the lens wide open even in bright sunlight, and the results are fantastic.

There’s some minor visible crosshatch when the filter is at its absolute darkest, but that’s a very minor issue which can be resolved by turning it ever so slightly lighter. We’re talking a difference of less than half a stop here, so it’s no great loss.

My main reasons for docking a star come from handling. The filter is super easy to use and well marked, but it has NO front threads. That means I can’t attach a hood to the front of it. The main reason I got this filter is to use it in sunlight, which is precisely when I want to attach a hood, but this filter won’t let me.

If you have a hood that clips on around the lens’ filter threads, then this isn’t an issue for you. But if you use hoods that attach to filter threads, then you’re out of luck. Also, this filter isn’t available in a 49mm size.

The smallest available is 52mm. This annoys me greatly, since most of my favorite lenses have a 49mm filter thread. 52mm seems like such an arbitrary number to stop at. I’m almost tempted tp knock another star off just because of this limitation.

But the optical performance impresses me enough to give it 4 stars despite the bizarre limitations.

Filter doesn’t seem to affect the sharpness. There’s some color casting but can be easily corrected. It works fine on 24mm, no vignetting. I would suggest spending a couple of hours to test its behavior, things will be a lot easier.

I am happy with the purchase and will keep the filter. There’s one draw back that someone has already mentioned, there’s nothing to hold the lense cap, perhaps to reduce the thickness of the filter.

At this price point, I didn’t expect to get this low quality ND filter. Simply there’s just too much vignette that doesn’t happen even on my 40€. Also packaging wasn’t really pleasing.

A huge collection of 72mm sized screw on filters for camera lenses. Diopters – to allow close / up magnification effect on the image taken – a cheaper options than a separate macro lens? The set of Neutral Density filters is what I wanted this set for so everything else is a bonus.

Much cheaper than 72 mm filters from premium filter manufacturers such as Hoya but image on computer screen looks good enough for a non pixel peeping amateur photographer. The filters allow flexible combinations as they will screw down on top of one another.

I have the Ultra Violet filter permanently on the lens to protect the end of the glass lens. Then you can screw onto this one or more of the ND filters to cut down the light transmission and allow a slower shutter speed.

The only thing that was not useful to me was the supplied lens hood at this does not screw onto the lens I have – but this was expected as many Canon, Nikon, Sigma etc. lenses require a specific lens hood for that lens.

Three very nice padded pouches with interior mesh pockets which can be used to store the different function filters or carry about one pouch with a selection while out and about e. g. 2 of the ND filters and one of the close up filters.

I recently acquired a Panasonic DMC FZ50 digital camera and needed a lens cap and a UV filter for it. This kit gave me that and much more. the filters, lens cap and lens hood are a universal fit for any camera or lens that has 55mm diameter filter threads.

If you look, you can probably find this kit in other common filter sizes. A UV filter is a clear glass filter that has little effect on your photos but does a great job of protecting the front lens element from dust, dirt and fingerprints.

I put one on each of my lenses and leave it in place. The circular polarizing filter is useful for minimizing glare and reflections, as well as intensifying colors. Used correctly, it can really make those fall leaves pop.

The FLD filter, intended to compensate for the greenish cast of fluorescent lighting, is probably the least useful of the three. All three filters fit in the included nylon case with space for three more.

The hard plastic tulip shaped lens hood is a universal replacement for the original and just screws onto the filter threads. It can help block unwanted glare. This one works well with my camera as it doesn’t show in the frame when the lens is zoomed to the widest setting.

The best part of this kit is I got the whole thing for about the price of a lens cap and UV filter purchased separately. Shipping from China was surprisingly quick, too.

Really good glass, the only issue was with the clearest lens. The threads on it were slightly damaged, but a little file work, a magnifying glass and some WD40 and they are workable without damaging the Sony G lens.

These are great filters, as effective as much higher priced filters I have for some of my smaller lenses.

It was liberally coated in oil fresh out of the box. I guess they wanted to make sure it was well lubricated. It does make your fingers all oily when using it though. Actually using it, its perfectly usable as a variable ND filter.

It does create some slight checkering effect on the bokeh, its hard to explain unless you see it yourself. And the transition between the different ND levels is mostly smooth, up until you get to the max setting.

Then your entire image just abruptly turns black. For casual photo or video work, its good enough as a starter variable ND.

This is one of the best bargains that i’ve seen, “essentially” you get 3 filters for the price of one. The image quality with these filters is great, the 812 (warming) filter is by far a favorite giving back the color richness that flash photography so often washes out, that is unless you have the patience for constantly tweaking your flash power.

Aside from the 812 the UV protector is basically a clear protective filter. While it obviously has advantages over clear glass, I tend not to think of it as any different. This too is a great filter which I use about half the time because it doesn’t affect color hues or change f stop values too greatly while it takes the worry out of carrying the camera around ready for any candid shots that may occur.

Finally included is the circular polarizer. This filter adjusts the amount of uv light entering the camera by spinning the filter to the direction the uv rays are entering (or turning the thingy till things look better).

This lens is great for sunny days and will take surface glare off lakes and glass making them transparent again. It also makes colors more crisp in general when photographing buildings and other large “reflective” man-made things.

So things sound great so far, but now to why I only give this item 4 stars. While Tiffen is known to be one of the best at photo and video filters, they have quality control issues that do no live up to thier reputation.

In my case the 812 filter arrived with a discoloration in the glass. While it was didn’t hurt image quality, with the flaw being towards the edge of the filter, I none the less didn’t want to find a situation in which the flaw would diminish quality.

Seeing as it was not fault my first e-mail went to Tiffen for a replacement which they said they would gladly do, but only after I send them the filter and they recieve it would they ship my replacement (not an option in my circumstances).

Instead wonderful customer service shown through again, and within 3 days they had replaced the entire set. The second set arrivided without flaw but since my other two filters were in perfect condition I traded just the 812.

I havn’t had any other issues and i’m very satisfied with my filters. The only other word of warning would be to that of the circular polorizer. While I recieved 2 that were flawless occassionally I have read in reviews customers have received ones that were assembled backwards making the lens useless.

A quick way to check to see if your CP is working correctly is to hold it, thread facing yourself, and look at an LCD monitor or TV and spin it until the picture dissapears(obviously working correctly).

I still wouldn’t pass up this deal knowing what I do now, chances are everything will show up perfectly but none the less if you’re concerned order it before you need it and check everything over carefully.

is always the best for returns and will often ship a replacement the next day with overnight shipping. And a little further insight. I was recently doing some black and white film photography, and decided to use my 812 warming filter as a protective lens as I was carrying 3 lenses with me.

Just thought that I would mention that using this filter will produce a “White” sky in some outdoor photographs. The shots were taken with a gradient blue sky to which the entirety showed up white, even on bracketed sets, that should have shown something in one of the series.

While itself was a interesting effect for some shots, it mostly just caused me frustration in the darkroom. I just wanted to add this as fair warning. I discovered this on accident, so I don’t know if it applies to all sky conditions as I didn’t do a lot B&W sky shots, I might test it using Photoshop later as I see they have the 812s effect built in.

I bought these filters for use on my 35-100mm F2 Olympus lens (70-100mm 35mm equivalent at the same time of purchases from. It is a good deal, on some decent filters. They come with a carry folder/case, which is nice and padded.

Over several months time though the inside netting wore through in 5 places between the filters. I do allot of hiking though, so if kept in different conditions I am sure this wouldn’t be a problem. The filter work pretty well.

but I ended up purchasing a separate Circular Polarizer (CP) filter due the very shallow threading on the front of the CP. The problem that this caused was my lens cap would fall off the CP with the slightest bump.

This isn’t a problem with the other filters. I ended up going into a camera chain store to buy a different CP to keep from loosing another lens cap. I defiantly paid much more for the replacement filter, but I am not replacing lost lens caps now.

So it end up being cheaper for me. My new filter is a Tiffen as well, but seams to be a higher quality model. The lens cap for my lens is fairly deep, most high end Nikon’s are the same way. If your lens cap doesn’t need to set back into the front of the lens or filter more than 1/8 of an inch you defiantly won’t have this issue.

And again it is only with the CP. These filters a good in my opinion for most people. If you are shooting for fun, not a very serious photographer, or very picky like me then defiantly get them. They are a great deal.

If you demand higher filter resolution for VERY fine high resolution detail. Then buying the higher end Tiffen or other lens filters. The issue is they can cost more than this whole kit. Most people honestly will have no issues with these filters.

I opted for a fixed ND filter as they tend to have a higher image quality output. No major color shifts or X patterns like you get with variable ND filters. The magnetic filter system is amazing. It can be difficult to take the lens cap off with a lens hood on.

It ships with the filter, a free UV filter, a metal magnetic lens cap (genius) and a magnetic screw on ring. The filter has threads so if you don’t want to use the magnet system, you can go the traditional screw in route.

Super high quality filter. The magnetic system and ability to stack multiple filters makes this the solution for uncompromising image quality in hybrid (stills/video) shooting. I found it impossible to get distant focus for video on my telephoto lens using a variable ND.

With a Freewell 6 stop ND filter I could get great video with ease and remove the filter quickly for still. It’s a gamechanger.

Pros: Good quality product that is well thought out. Expensive but good value as a kit. Better than buying the individual items over time. I’ve planned a few days out by the coast to further use and experiment with the kit.

Cons: The initial expense but I feel most bases are now covered.

The deluxe kit is a good way to get into the Lee filters system. Savings are made against buying the contents individually. A holder, nd grads and a big stopper. All thats required beyond these are a relevant adapter ring to attach to your lens.

I bought these after several recommendation from photographers I subscribe to and follow on YouTube. I had been using Hoya with my Nikon D5600 which were ok just. On buying an XT4 I decided to upgrade to NiSi.

There is a step change in quality and consistency in different light conditions. Really delighted with my purchase.

My most used bit of kit other than my camera and tripod. Great value for the set of NDs you get. There is the slightest of a magenta cast on the image and I mean a minuscule shift, can be easily adjusted in post.

I would highly recommend NiSi Filters, they also provide great customer service Ps: I’ll wish I had gotten the 82mm kit for the Nikon Z system since some of their lenses are 82mm. So If its applicable to you, consider accordingly.

if you shoot wide/ultra wide on any other system than Nikon Z get the Nisi 100×100 system (Nikon z 14-30mm uses 82mm).

The filter is simply awesome! It cuts off undesired reflecion over the surface of water and it enhances a lot the blue of the sky, sometime resulting in a very deep-blue sky with very well-defined and sharp clouds.

I have used it a lot with the lens Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3. 5-5. 6 IS USM on my Canon EOS 90D, and it helped me in saving several shots in low-contrast condition during my trips. In some cases, it was astonishing how a “white” sky resulted in a very clear blue sky.

It helps also in eliminating reflection from leaves and windows and completely cuts off the ligth emitted from LCD screens. It has a very good build quality and the double-threaded ring allow your filters to be stacked.

I have used it in combination with URTH ND filters, resulting in really nice images with low vignetting (depending on the angle of view that you are using). The only thing I can complain about is that the mounting and the removing of the filter can be challening in some situation due to the very slim rim and the presence of rotating element.

Anyway, product fully recommended.

I found diffusion filters about a year ago. I had hard time to find suitable diffusion filters from other branches, but then luckily Urth came to the rescue. 1/8 diffusion filter is perfect for a leave-it-on-the-lens.

Nice effect of halation on highlights, but yet not overly doing it. For me this is screwed on all times. It cuts away that digital perfectness and creates nicer even more film-like photos. (Although I use Fuji camera which I regard less digital perfectness than other brands due to the X-Trans sensor but anyway).

I receommend to try out if you haven’t already tried diffusion filters. Urth can do it right in my opinion.

I’ve become a fan of NiSi filters and the NiSi filter system. These are great filters and very reasonably priced. I use the ND filters for taking pictures of waterfalls and am starting to experiment with the graduated filters for sunsets.

I bought the system through another outlet, before BH started stocking them. The system is great with one caveat — it’s easy to lose the the polarizing filter — hence the need to purchase a replacement 🙂 I tend to leave the polarizing filter on my camera most of the time, attaching the rest of the system as needed.

Unfortunately, the polarizing filter has a tendency to come off while walking about. This happened the first time I used the filter. Luckily a passing stranger noticed and let me know what happened. I managed to be careful for quite a while, but eventually lost the filter (luckily this happened just after I finished shooting for the week).

A nice slim filter in new condition. Contrary to what is often supposed by younger photographers, the 81B balancing filter is the best way of dealing with shade or overcast lighting in digital photography, as opposed to changing WB to accommodate those conditions.

The human eye does not detect the blue, but it’s there all the same. It also works well for backlit subjects that are effectively in shade, improving the tonality: the subject will be lightened & warmed, and to avoid overall overexposure gentle underexposure may be set.

Pleasing people-pictures in what amounts to mixed lighting are one effect. The lighting in Interior shots is frequently shade, while any exterior lighting within the frame is sunlight or daylight, so the same remarks apply.

If the interior lighting is Fluorescent of course an FL-Day with WB set to Daylight works the same as a warming filter; but this is perhaps not quite the spot for that observation. I use warming nowadays for all my c.

5000K landscape shots, not to cut UV to which the electronic sensor is insensitive, but to cut the haze in distance (which is by no means all visible to my eye-brain combo), define clouds and darken blue sky.

That way what I saw is more nearly what I get. The WB should of course be set to Daylight every time, the meter will take care of the quite modest factor.

Quite often our color images, particularly landscapes on transparency film, demonstrate degrees of blue/cyan over-saturation, and many shutterbugs use a mild amber 81A filter to go just beyond the usual UV filter to compensate.

For some this either does fine, or may add a slight yellowish cast, so some try ccY-. 001 or whatever to get to a more neutral color balance. This 812 of Tiffens is closer to a very light tobacco color than the more yellow 81A and corrects color far better.

Technically, pure blue is directly opposite yellow on the color wheel, but atmospheric blue is just a tad warmer than pure blue. The slight shift to the red in the 812 versus an 81A gives a more realistic shift to a slide, and also better human flesh tonesof any racein portraiture.

Worth looking into!.

This filter turned out to be a infared filter and turned certain materials red in daylight. took me a while to figure out what was going wrong. dissapointed as this was not indicated anywhere on the listing.

Works as expected for graduated ND. I tried using a cheap version but ND was not neutral; it caused an unwanted color shift. The Cokin brand is truly neutral but cost quite a bit more. However still much less expensive than the Lee filters.

In the past I used screw-in ND filters but the square type has more versatility to move up and down to where the horizon is placed. That is a real advantage. It also saves time in Photoshop adjusting for the sky.

Great quality from Haida This is the nanopro version with the multicoating so easy to wipe clean and shed water. No colour cast at all. totally neutral as you would expect. Well packaged inside metal tin with firm foam and fits into my Benro 150mm filter holder perfectly.

Haida have 3 versions of filters. they sell a non nanopro version just called Haida which is much cheaper and then a higher version called Red Diamond. I chose this one as there are plenty of side by side comparisons of nd filter brands and the nanopro comes out really high.

First I bought the holder with the CPL Nano Pro filter. I was that impressed with the quality I got rid of all my Lee filters and holder. I have got all Haida Nano pro filters as well they are fantastic I cannot recomend these filters enough.

Why there is such a snob element with Lee I do not know maybe its the cost some people think because it cost more it is better not in this case Haida ticks every box for me but Lee did not. Haida is a top top product.

Glad to get my filters. One thing I indelicately noticed was the clip and the opening does not cover all of the iPhone 13 pro lenss. You have to move it around and with the autofocus feather I would see that is a huge problem.

Light leak is present as well due to the fact that the opening in the filter does not allow all of the lens to be covered. Sent an email about this but got no response back. Otherwise nice product. My three pack came in a case but without then nice soft touch bags I saw in a prior review.

No covers either so they are gonna collect some dust. Curious to see how well the lenses would work without the custom cover that is not out yet.

Those filters are very good in dry weather in SoCal. But anywhere else with seasonal humidity like a lot of rain with high temp outside, the humidity gets in the space b/w the filter and camera lens and the photo quality goes down sharply.

The shape of an object you wanna capture blurs a lot and the color becomes very vague. You’ll notice this symptom after a year or so, meaning the durability of these filter is that short. I’m currently using the replacement filters that Sandmarc sent for free over a year ago and the original ones had the same symptom.

I’m not sure if I wanna keep using the filters from Sandmarc or not, because even if I can get the 2nd replacement, it won’t last another year or 2.

This review is for the clip-on hybrid ND/PL filters used with an iPhone 11 Pro (using the clip, not ******* on to Sandmarc’s lenses). I was worried about light leaks when using clip on filters, so before purchasing this kit I contacted Sandmarc to ask what sort of case they recommend to eliminate light leaks, and after several days they wrote back to say that I should buy their lenses to avoid light leaks.

I was frustrated with this answer, but I decided to purchase the filters anyway because there weren’t any other high quality options that fit the iPhone 11 Pro at the time. The glass, metal, and plastic components seem to be high quality and perform well; however, there are two major problems with the clip-on system: First, light leaks through the back of the clip, causing very noticeable internal reflections in some lighting conditions, even when using a matte black phone case that matches the height of the camera bump.

This is partly because the hole in the clip that goes around the phone lens is much too wide. I was able to mitigate this problem by covering the hole in the clip with black electrical tape and then cutting a hole in the tape only slightly larger than the lens, but that worsened the second problem: Because the filters are dark, you can’t see through them, so it’s very difficult to center the clip over the lens (which is crucial for avoiding asymmetric vignetting – it really sucks to get home and view your footage on your computer, only to find that it’s unusable because there’s a weird shadow-like effect over part of the picture).

Simply looking at the picture on on phone’s screen when you position the filter isn’t a reliable way to get it right, because the slight vignette isn’t always noticeable when you’re outside, especially in conditions when you need an ND filter.

There are three ways I’ve found to help center the clip over a lens, none of which is ideal. 1) You can unscrew the filter from the clip, center the clip over the desired lens, and then screw the filter back on while trying not to move the clip (this is a pain, and fairly time-consuming because the filter threads are very fine).

2) You can make permanent marks on your phone case indicating exactly where to place the clip so it’s centered, but you have to do this for each lens, and then you have lots of weird marks on your phone case.

3) You can shine a strong light through the dark filter so you can see actually see the lens while you line up the clip (you have to carry a powerful flashlight or something similar – daylight doesn’t work because the filters are so dark).

The bottom line is that using these filters with the included clip is quite annoying, but once you get them in place and figure out a way to cut out the light leaks, they work. If weight matters to you, the advertised 18 gram weight is for each filter, not everything together, and the clip weighs about the same, and then the carrying case (which doesn’t hold the clip) weighs about 33 grams.

Oh, and when you open the box that these filters come in, the clip is hidden in a separate compartment. I read someone else’s review saying his came without a clip, but I suspect he just didn’t notice that he had to open the box at both ends to get everything out.
