It works although I measured the waterline in the watercloset from the top to the existing level. I also measured the top of the overflow to the existing waterline. Doing this I got the proper float setting.

The instructions included say something about 3 inches from top of valve to top of overflow. Setting it up this way is not possible with this style toilet. Refill rate is within two seconds of the original.

Time will tell how long it will last, the original lasted approximately 4 – 5 years.

This fill valve kit was very easy to use. Took me less than 15 minutes to remove the old valve and install this one. Instructions were informative. It did take a few flushes to fine tune the float shutoff and overall it was a good experience.

I do think the box it came in was not the best, all of the ones at 2 stores were crumpled a bit. The angle portion of the box did not hold up well on the store shelves. Doesn’t affect the product at all so still 5 stars.

This is exactly as advertised. Including the removal of the old fill valve, I had this installed in 10 minutes. Final adjustments took another 5. The flush is powerful and the refill time has been significantly reduced.

Regarding volume/loudness I can’t say if it is quieter, but because the refill time is reduced it doesn’t really matter to me. Lastly, all adjustments are very easy. All in all, I recommend this product.

New Kohler toilets in 2 year new house we purchased. within 3 months of moving in, the toilet tank wouldn’t refill. We finally got a replacement Valve – Genuine Kohler parts, it was VERY EASY to replace (although after a little more than 2 years, that is pretty pathetic).

but now we have this very high pitched sound when water is filling tank. It sounds like an airplane taking off! trying to figure out how to adjust it to stop the noise. don’t know if I would recommend this product or not.

Toilet kept running and wouldn’t fill correctly, so we bought this as a replacement. First one Kohler sent did not work right, would not extend. After talking to their support team, they decided to send out another.

The second arrived and worked. We watched a couple of YouTube videos to understand how to install it and probably saved a bunch of money considering weeks later our second toilet started doing the same thing.

This time, however, we realized the problem was not the entire valve but just the ring at the top that needed cleaning due to buildup.

purchased 2 Santa Rosa toilets for our house. The fill valve on the first one lasted 3 months with the float refusing to rise to the top to shut off the water flow. Horsed around with it for another year before I finally gave up opening the lid and pulling up on float and bought a replacement.

The second toilet lasted 3 years on the original fill valve and finally came to my attention because it was taking 5-7 minutes to fill the tank. As it turns out, same issue with float not rising to top to turn off water.

Unfortunately, the water keeps flowing for 5-7 minutes until float finally decides to rise — a lot of water wasted. As this toilet is used by others in house, issue did not come to my attention for months.

PLEASE READ, gang!!! If you want the refill tube to work (I did), you will need to carefully drill out the thin bit of plastic within the refill tube. It’s about 3/4″ of the way inside. Drilling it out is easy, just don’t overdo it and drive the drill bit into the innards.

I used a 1/8 drill bit. See the attached illustration. I was utterly baffled why the passage would be plugged like that, but I’m guessing the logic is that this unit is intended as a replacements for an array of models with different functions.

Many thanks to the other reviewers and the contributors on the Q&A section. It’s moronic of the manufacturer to not indicate this in the instructions–they must be flooded with allegedly defective units because of this single oversight.

Idiots. Also, as noted elsewhere, it’s super sketchy that the packaging proudly declares “Kholer genuine parts” but the unit is clearly manufactured with Fluidmaster molds. However, the unit is fine.

It works well and was super easy to install.

I purchased this valve to replace a failed valve on my 10 year old Kohler low profile toilet. The toilet had a brass tube that connected was connected to the shut off valve via a threaded coupling. (similar to a garden hose).

The brass tube would have lasted 100 years. This valve was listed on Kohler’s web site as the replacement. I did not need to replace the long tube that passes through the toilet tank and connects to the supply hose.

Changing to this unit requires you to change this tube because the connection from the valve to this tube has been changed from threaded to some sort of quick connect. Had the connection been the same, I could have simply screwed the valve in to my existing brass tube and threw the cheap plastic tube on this unit in the garbage and been finished in 2 minutes.

However, Kohler didn’t design the new one to match the old one. So I needed to completely drain the tank and remove the old tube. Because my toilet was installed close to a wall where the supply hose connected to the toilet, it took me over an hour to remove my existing tube and I completely destroyed it in the process.

The nut that holds the unit to the toilet was missing and the instructions indicated the a small piece of plastic tubing for overflow is included- also missing. Used the old parts- not really a problem.

From a design point of view- poor design. The replaced one lasted two years. A small pin the pushes the rubber valve seal pushed through the valve seal causing the unit not to shut off. Korky sells the part for their units for about $3.

Its easy to replace.

So far, the things I need specifically for certain fixtures/appliances are here and model applications are spelled out. I haven’t had to return anything.

Just what I needed to replace a defective valve. Since I was replacing a defective Toto valve, the process was very easy to do. Just match the valve lengths and drop it in.

Our original fill valve failed pretty early in the life of the toilet by not allowing water to enter the tank without tapping the top of the fill valve. We originally tried replacing with a Universal Fluidmaster 400 equivalent.

It worked but was much noisier than the original. So we purchased this unit and saw the difference. They are very similar but this unit has constriction on where the tube is attached. It may also be different near the bottom.

With the old valve, it filled quickly but there was less water in the toilet bowl. This new one fills slightly slower and is much quieter and more pleasant than the universal unit. So we now understand why it is better.

We hope it will last better than the OEM valve (which we tried cleaning and lubricating to no avail).

The Performax is a great replacement kit for an old house like mine. I didn’t know how bad my old noisy toilet equipment was – all it took was for me to spend an hour or so to see how much better the Performax really is.

It was easy to install and it fit inside my old tank with no problems. The old equipment used to take a long time to shut off. It would squeak and make spurting noises for it seemed like a hour. Of course, then someone would use it and the process would start all over again.

The Performax is quick and smooth. It’s hard to appreciate unless you’ve gone through my wife and I have had to endure for the last few weeks. If you’re wondering whether the Performax is worth the effort, it is.

Anyone with a little bit of handiness can do the job, and if you follow the easy directions, you’ll feel like a pro. If someone had told me I would be so effusive in my praise of this product, I probably would have said it’s difficult to be so enthusiastic about bathroom equipment.

However, after installing this equipment and the satisfying result it brought, I highly recommend you place it in your toilet. Even if you didn’t need to.

This product is amazing, and I’m very happy that I got to sample it. I had put off installing it because I thought it was going to take a whole afternoon and it’s been a busy summer. I wish I had realized how quickly it would go as I would’ve done it ages ago.

The hardest part was removing the old one from inside the tank. The nut keeping it in place had somehow gotten to the point where it was stuck and we actually had to break the old one to get it out. The nut on this one has these great tabs in the side that should make it easier to get out.

The feature that I love the best about this is how much variability it offers with changing up the amount of flow to the toilet and how much flushes at a time. I really feel as though we’re going to save water while still getting the flushing power we need.

This is a vast improvement over the piece that was originally installed in our toilet. I highly recommend changing over your old toilet’s insides to this system.

My water bill was through the roof, so I decided to fix the toilet myself. I read the instructions, which are step by step, mainly to learn the name of the parts. I scanned the code in Step 1. It takes you to a simple step by step video that I used step by step, pausing at each to complete installation.

I would do it again. The installation went just as the video described, and the installation was free. I Did It All By Myself! This Fill Valve and Flapper was easily adjusted to fit the height of my toilet, which was my main concern.

I give it 5 stars for ease of instillation, and for the versatility of the unit. I installed it yesterday so I can not vouch for long term quality, but it is working well, and I will update with another review concerning durability in a few months.

I am a hero to our tenants. Under 2 minutes to attach the float, remove the old mechanism and screw on the new one. When I saw water coming out the side of the unit, I thought I had installed it wrong, but you really can’t install it wrong! Connect the water, adjust the float, done! I just did not remember how the old one worked since it had been in service for so long.

As usual, the Supplyhouse. com delivery was next day using standard shipping and the pricing was unbeatable. My only regret was that HD stopped selling this simple reliable design toilet from Glacier Bay.

Otherwise, I would have bought 3 more for our home. But, having FluidMaster as the manufacturer and SupplyHouse. com as the supplier is a win-win combination.

I got the glacier Bay flapperless fill valve and it was just what I needed. No one else in town had them and I got my order promptly and fix the toilet no problem. The only thing I would change would be that they would include the little white whatever it is that you need when you replace it.

The listing does tell you to retain the little white thing however so as long as you were reading the instructions you’ll be fine.

I have been researching and looking for a Fill Valve and Flapper that were quiet and flushed the system easily. The 400CAR3P5 also has the Best Warranty that I was able to find anywhere. This carries a 7 Year Warranty.

Wow. I Highly Recommend this kit to anyone who wants to eliminate the hammer sound that most fill valves make and quiet down the entire process. It is easy to install, but if you have questions; Fluidmaster is more than willing to help.

Great price and,more importantly,easy to install. In all fairness, I didn’t use the flapper. Bought it in case I did, but I didn’t. Anyway, I don’t have to feed it, so it’s OK. An obvious improvement over the unit that came with the 10 YO Kohler toilet.

Easy to install and I didn’t have to install but once. Recommended to all the other amateur plumbers out there.

I did not realize the flapper valve was 3″. This will not fit a standard residential home toilet. I did go ahead and mount the water fill valve. That works fine.

I’m not a professional plumber so changing a bottom entry inlet valve in the Fowler toilet ca be a challenging task because unless the fit is perfect water will drip from the cistern or if the locknut is tightened too much the cistern will crack.

The Fluidmaster inlet valve Pro 45 is accompanied by: 1. easy to follow instructions and 2. a warranty ( full details of the warranty are on the Fluidmaster web site ) and 3. a sealing washer which is placed on the threaded shank which passes through the hole in the cistern.

When I installed the inlet valve I followed the easy to follow instructions and the entire process was completed without any problems. The sealing washer on the shank seems to stop leakage which means that the lock nut can be gently tightened by hand.

The toilet has been in operation for just over a week and it looks like my handyman skills are as good as a professional. No leaks. No cracks. Perfect flush. Awesome.

this valve assembly works great! its performance exceeded expectation. however, the shipping container was just a typical, rubberized, plastic envelope with no protective fill around the valve. I’m surprised it survived transit in one, operable piece.

Installs easily. Adjustments are easy and following recommendation for setting are spot on. Performs as advertised.

The installation tutorial video is great. Luckily, I have the exact model they used in the demo. The only issue I had was that on the valve I received, the fill rate valve was installed backwards relative to the video–outlet/inlet sides were reversed.

When looking at the video on the small screen I couldn’t figure out why the setting process seemed different for my unit. When I looked at it on my big desktop screen the problem was obvious and I just proceeded from there.

Couldn’t imagine it would make a difference in performance, and it didn’t. Other than that, installation was a snap and it works great. A tip: you’ll need a bigger container than the bowl they use in the video to capture the water that dumps out when you remove the old valve.

And it comes down with enough force to splash out of a bowl. I suggest using a bucket or some other higher-sided container, and a towel or rag to capture spills. No biggy.

Our original Toto filler valve finally bit the dust the other day, and wouldn’t stop running. That complicated unit had a screw adjuster and tilting shut-off head, which seems to be overly complicated and a common fault.

I was skeptical about using a universal replacement, so decided on the Toto version versus a Korky or generic (which I’m sure also work fine for a lower cost). The instructions were OK, basically twist the unit to unlock, adjust to the correct height (number of notches) given in the included chart, and twist to lock again.

Then insert the tamper-proof tab to add extra lock security. Install the valve into the tank, hook up the water supply line and tube and adjust the refill dial. It’s this last part that is not really well explained or shown in the instructions.

Basically there’s a dial on the top of the valve that adjusts the amount of water to fill in the tank. You have to twist it completely closed, then use this weird star-shaped plastic “key” with a series of numbered tabs, insert the correct numbered tab (using the included chart again) into a gap on the side of the dial, and twist the dial open until the gap closes to the width of the tab.

I guess there isn’t a better way given how sensitive the gap size is (the different tabs are very similar in size), but it just wasn’t well explained. I like that the new unit is quieter than the old one, and a bit faster since it seems to very much fill at the full water flow rate right until it shuts off, whereas the old one seemed to trickle more slowly as it reached the shut-off mark.

Wish I had made this upgrade sooner.

Our old fill valve was slowing down after 12 years, so it was time to replace it. Of course, Toto doesn’t make the same model as the old one, but listed this universal valve as a replacement on their website.

I’m generally wary of “universal” parts that replace four previous valves. But, Toto does it in a way that makes sense. There are two settings on this valve that allow it to replace four previous models.

The height of the valve, controlling flush volume, and the bowl fill. The instructions have a quick grid to look up the settings per your toilet’s model, for mine it was a height of 4, and a fill of 4.

I popped the height up to #4. Removed the old valve, installed this one. Replaced the fill hose and clip with the one in the box (might need to trim yours), and adjusted the bowl fill height to number 4 with the gauge that was provided in the parts bag.

All and all, the hardest part was the yoga needed to get under the toilet to remove the old valve. Once that was out, the installation took me all of 5 minutes. Went from a 3:15 flush to a 1:17 flush with the perfect water level.

Biggest drawback? It was so successful, I have to do the same thing in the other bathroom. Needless to say, I don’t really mind!.

Was redoing my toilet line and figured I would swap out the whole toilet valve and flapper while I was at it. After plumbing the lines I ran to Walmart and saw this so I figured I would give it a shot and installed it quick turned on the water set the depth, and this is a great replacement! And very affordable! I bought a extra as a spare in case this one wears out! Easy to install for anyone I’m sure your kids can even follow the directions and install it.

So, if you’re going to buy a toilet tank repair — STICK TO THIS SIMPLE VERSION – it’s the best. I bought the more expensive Fluidmaster entire kit version with all the bells and whistles, and it was awful! This one, simple with just the regular stuff works so much better.

I also went with a different version than the flapper, which I personally don’t like because it literally took 3 whole minutes for the toilet to refill each time you flushed – it did like a double flush.

What a waste of water.

I have an American Standard low flush toilet. I needed to replace the original fill valve. After some research I determined that the American Standard fill valves are acually made by Fluidmasster but are three times the price.

This was a perfect replacement and took about 15 minutes to install. Very satisfied.

This is a solid, well-performing product. Installation is moderately easy, and there is a great deal of satisfaction in being able to totally ‘renovate’ your old toilet in an hour. It now works flawlessly.

I took one star off because the ‘doughnut’ (a giant rubber gasket that seals the joint between the tank and the toilet body) was too small to adequately seal our (circa 1991) standard flush Gerber toilet.

We had to re-use the old doughnut, which was probably about 1/3 larger than the new one. Instructions are reasonably clear – though some of their recommended clearances had to be modified for our take (pieces are meant to be cut to size – remember: measure twice, cut once!).

The other problem I had was I did not cot off the excess chain for the flapper, and sometimes when the flapper went down, it landed on the chain. I could not for the life of me figure out why my ‘new’ toilet worked fine one time and seemed to run forever the next.

Chalk it up to my error. Once you’ve got the chain set up correctly, don’t forget to cut off the excess. Had it for about 6 weeks now, and it’s flawless so far and appears well-made enough to last a long time.

Great deal for the money: sure beats either hiring a plumber to ‘renovate’ or replace your toilet and anyone with a modicum of patience and a few hand tools can do it, though if you’re not strong, you may require help wrestling the tank off the toilet and back on.

bought this to modify an old toilet tank – do not like the old style valve that comes through the tank bottom, want to try this valve piped with water coming over top back edge of tank. haven’t done the work yet – I am slow, old and lazy but looks like it should work.

anything is better than the old noisy arm and float design.

This is similar to a US product I have installed in another toilet that works very well. The problem with this one (made in China), is that, no matter how you adust it, it never turns off the water completely.

And once it’s installed, it’s a real chore to uninstall and replace.

I installed the Korky 528 about a month ago because my old valve began leaking. From the beginning, the valve has been slow and noisy. You can literally hear it running throughout our house. It also runs very slowly.

I timed one of our other toilets and it refills in about 45 seconds. The Korky 528, when the flow control to the bowl is closed, takes about a minute and 50 seconds. When the flow control is completely open, it takes close to 3 minutes.

After watching the troubleshooting videos on their website and trying the remedies suggested, I tried contacting the company by phone but no one ever answered. I tried emailing customer support and got an automated email telling me to call customer support.

I can handle getting a defective item, but I don’t have patience with companies with poor customer service. Needless to say, I won’t be buying another Korky product.

I have used this product for years at home and at a cottage. Fills quickly and quietly and installs fairly easily. Two wear points are the cap assembly (available at Home Depot) and the shut off valve ( not available at stores).

The small neoprene base of these items wears out after 2 +/- years and needs an easy replacement. I had to contact Korky for the shut off valve and although I did not have my receipt, they quickly mailed a free replacement.

This was a new design I had not seen before. I decided to try it because it was touted to be a new design and purported to be quitter and use less water than other designs. I am a 64 yr. old woman. I am average handy around the house.

I put this unit in with NO tools at all. just my hands. and it took about 10 minutes. the hardest part was finding how to shut off my house water because my toilet did not have a individual shut off valve.

I was up and running is 15 minutes. flush’s quietly, fills quickly, no splatter, no ball and rod to deal with. just remove old valve, adjust for the level of your tank, screw the washers on the bottom hand tighten, cut to fit if necessary the tube going over to your overflow pipe and clip it in.

turn your water back on. I would recommend this product to anyone needing a fill valve replaced.

The valve was easy to install and works as it should. It has some adjustments not found on the valve it replaced and the only tricky part was adjusting the height of the valve. There are two critical height dimensions called out in the installation instructions that were a little difficult to measure in the confined space of a toilet tank.

The valve went in nicely and is a bit noisier than the valve it replaced.

This works well and was a quick fix. Nice and quiet. Lots of options for adjustments for different size tanks. Would buy again. Only downside was the part that screws onto the fill valve on the underside of the toilet has tabs (presumably to make it easier to turn by hand) that prevented me from using it.

Wasn’t enough room to spin it on straight without hitting the toilet. I just used the one from the fill valve I was replacing.

Bought this because my old cistern fill valve wouldnt stop filling and there was no spares. The reason I picked this one it had brass treaded connection was faster and quieter and had good reviews. First of all if you have a cistern with the connection hole in the bottom corner you will have problems with float sticking on the sides like I had but i was able to adjust it to make it work secondly it would not stop filling like my old one and by good fortune I had a spare seal which I bought hoping that it fitted my old one so I fitted that and it worked Faster?? I dont think so its a lot slower than my old one Quieter yes it is as it fills from the bottom so there on splashing of water coming in the only problem with that is if you want a second flush you dont know when its ready So overall if it worked straight out of the box and didn’t have the problem of the float sticking on the sides and was faster I would have give it a 5 but Im giving it a 3.

Whenever replacing a bottom-entry fill valve, this is the one I use. It just works, and does so reliably. There were a few design changes on the latest valve (March 2021) but nothing to suggest that reliability would be impacted.

My only (tiny) niggle is that it comes with only a sealing washer that is partly conical – on the cisterns with a small entry hole (like Screwfix’ toilet-to-go) the small entry hole needs a flat washer.

Other than that, it’s terrific. I wish my local store kept them in stock!.

This was a replacement for a ball valvewhich was encrusted with hardness. It was easy to fit – if your cistern has a corner entry you will have to work out how to prevent the float rubbing on the cistern – it is possible.

It works well, it is very quiet and I would use again. Only just fitted so no idea about reliability.

I purchased this fill valve to replace the original g-max branded fill value for my Toto toilet. The most difficult part was setting the fill level. You have to set the level before installing it and turning the water back on.

What I did was measure where the old g-max setting was and set the new one accordingly. Just remember to remove the old fill value carefully so that fill level setting does not move so you can use it as a guide.

I had thought I would have to go to a speciality plumbing store to get this but glad Canadian Tire carried this part.

It required minimal skill and time to replace the Toto genuine replacement fill valve. Was so happy that the item was available at the CTC store on our way back travelling home.

Product is great. Worked well as a replacement. Canadian tire however left much to be desired. The online item count was correct (last one) but it was missing pieces and the box was battered.
