20 Best Fertilizer For Tall Fescue (2023 Updated)

The snow has finally melted and I finally get to test this fertilizer out! I’m happy with the fertilizer so far; I feel like it has made my dead, yellowed grass grow back thicker and more green. I think it will only grow better as the weather gets warmer and we move from spring into summer.

This was easy to apply to the lawn and directions on the bag were clear in terms of how to use and what to expect. I look forward to having a luscious green lawn and spending less time mowing it this summer!.

I got the Glenview lawn fertilizer as a test on part of my yard. I have my yard done professionally yearly. I withheld a small part of the service so I could try this treatment and compare the outcome.

I must admit I am happy with this test result. They compare favorably. I will reevaluate the cost and see if I might do my whole yard myself.

It’s starting to look promising to have lush green grass. I put this product into a spreader for application. I like to use this after I detach the lawn and right before a rain storm. This fertilizer contains the slow release formula so hopefully I will have green healthy lawn for the entire season.

When I was 18 or 19 I lived in a house with a neglected lawn and for some reason decided to try this. Yard was full of clover, dandelions, and other weeds. Had large area bare spots of N. C. red clay around trees.

I put it down heavy just once and it killed off about every weed. Big patches of weeds became bare spots then the grass filled in and thickened, turned a nice darker green. Grass started spreading to the red dirt spots.

Neighbor across the road could tell a difference from her house a good distance back from the road away from ours and asked me “what did you do to your yard? It looks good”. I’d recommend putting it down a bit heavier than instructed if you have a serious weed problem as long as it won’t run into a creek or other water source.

Be ready to mow the yard because it will make your grass grow.

Have had good results with Scotts Crabgrass Preventer. Its finer texture seems to provide more even application compared to the larger granules in other brands. It claims to be “season-long” protection vs.

3-4 months as mentioned by some competitors. I just applied it a few days ago, so only time will tell if the current product works as well at preventing crabgrass as it has in the past for me. My frustration with the product solely lies with BJ’s.

I discovered that a special/reduced price on the website was only for online orders. In- store pricing was $5 higher. NO WHERE WAS THAT MENTIONED in the online posting. I had to place an online order, then return to do a store pickup.

This is a bit different of a process than I’m used to with my lawn care, the application timing is a lot later than previous treatments. I like to get a good start on lawn care so using this so much later made me a bit uneasy, applying it while the weeds are growing as directed doesn’t leave much wiggle room for adjustments if anything goes wrong- not impossible but not ideal or easy when your in ths thick of it.

I am definitely starting to notice how well the lawn likes the food, the weeds are less as well. I like the ease of application, once you get timing and conditions from mother nature its a breeze. The 3 in one benefits are nice and while it has improved my lawn, it doesn’t give me the full effects Id prefer given the price and amount product needed.

On top of time and energy still needed to put into seedig and the additional applications it isnt the best product for my needs. I received a free sample to review and since the area the bag covered did have results it’s not a dud- but not enough for me to buy more to adequately cover my entire lawn for the season.

I reseeded my lawn by the book last fall (Oct 17) using a slit seeder and Titan Tall fescue seed. By March/April my grass was amazing, the best in the neighborhood. Thick green and lush! I applied Preen One in March ( I am in Charlotte NC) to take advantage of its pre-emergent as well as existing weed control.

The few weeds that I had were gone within a couple of weeks and the grass looked great. I had to mow it twice a week. Then 8 wks later I applied Preen one again, as recommended, and as directed. Within two weeks large patches of my grass were turning brown.

Now it looks terrible. We have had plenty of rain, and I cannot fathom any other reason for the dead grass. I am very disappointed after spending so much time and money this year to finally have a great lawn.

This is an AWESOME product. I applied this to a LONG strip of area in my lawn which I had removed the turf and reseeded. In the past, whenever I had reseeded a section of my lawn to put in new grass, weeds cropped up in the newly seeded lawns within 2 weeks along with the new grass.

When I applied this product back in Sept along with the new seeds, i have seen ZERO weeds. ZERO. All I see is nice thick grass with NOT ONE weed coming thru. That has NEVER occurred in the 15 yrs of using lawn care products.

I had purchased Tenacity separately back in June/July via Amazon because i had found out about this amazing, SAFE, weed preventer/killer. Tenacity’s main chemical is Mesotrione. So this was the PERFECT thing i was looking for.

I will use this product ALWAYS going forward cause it combines the ability to seed and also prevent weeds for a LONG TIME.

It is a great product. The first product that I applied that doesn’t end up with green streaks on the lawn. I think it is because the granular pellets are very similar in size. They are also smaller in size so it is easier to spread with my broadcast spreader.

I had issues with other fertilizers where the bigger pellets would get stuck if I don’t use a higher setting than I would like.

Recommended by my father (who is a certified master gardener) for rehabbing a seriously sad lawn following dethatch and aeration. Holy moly!!! Absolutely fantastic results with overseeding cool season grass even though it was SUMMER.

I was hoping for the best, but got the worst. Seeds did nothing. Couple stramds here and there. Used the whole bag on a 30 X 30 area and almost no coverage. Threw them down in late August early September.

Hope next spring something pops up. Because right now it was a bust.

Second season using their 2 step subscription program ( spring/fall) My lawn was in rough shape after the 2020 drought. Applied the Spring treatment in 2021. and we had a record rainfall. so I had very green grass that grew very fast.

But I had much less crabgrass and weeds. I then applied the Fall treatment. This spring( 2022), my lawn came in and greened up really fast. with very few danidlions. Applied the Spring treatment. the few weeds I had have disappeared.

and the lawn has stayed green through some dry spells. So far, so good. the best fertilizer I’ve ever used. Although. that darn grass does grow faster! LOL.

This GreenView Fairway Formula Spring Fertilizer with Crabgrass Preventer works great. It is a good quality lawn fertilizer. It made the lawn greener and thicker. My yard needed help and I have been impressed with how much and how quickly this has helped it.

I love that it has the crabgrass preventer in it, so I don’t have to use different products. It prevents crabgrass for 120 days, and provides slow release nitrogen for extended feeding up to 12 weeks.

It was very easy to use too. I would definitely recommend it.

This product worked really well on my weeds killing the dandelions and eliminating the patches of clover I had. I haven’t treated my lawn in a few years so the weeds were very noticeable. I put this product down on a wet lawn and watched it work.

The next day I could see that it was working on the weeds, not just the dandelions and clover, but the other stuff too. It rained two days after I applied the weed & feed and that’s when I really noticed my lawn start to green up also.

Overall, very happy with this product and will buy again for next year.

Spring is coming and our lawn is horrible looking! We decided to give GreenView Starter Fertilizer. After reading the packaging, it is a very easy process. You can either apply it before the seeds or after.

I decided to do it before, no reason behind it. The area thing is it does not hurt the established lawn areas that we never have issues with so spreading it with worries that it may harm the established grass spots.

I spread the fertilizer, spread my seed and gave it a little water. It does direct to not lay right before heavy rainfall. It has only been a week or so (with the decent spring weather) but we are anxiously waiting for the grass to continue to grow! It does appear the grass is growing better with using the GreenView Fertilizer then without.

I cannot wait for a full yard of grass this year!.

I wouldn’t blame this product for the lack of progress it made on the lawn since dandelion are the hardest to get rid of. Since I bought my house no matter how frequent I mow the lawn they always return.

I was having high hopes but all this product did was wilt them a little that day and then sprung back the next day. It was suppose to be a weed killer plus grass feeder but somehow it kill some places and made dead brown patches in my lawn.

Maybe I’ll have to try light sprinkle the next time around and see it goes that time around.

This is a great product and I always start off Spring spreading weed and feed fertilizer for my lawn. I always have good luck using this product. Eliminate the weeds and add fertilizer for optimal growth.

It very easy to spread using my speed spreader. After I applied to my lawn I had a couple of days light rain that broke down the pellets quickly. Now I will sit back and get the mower ready to start mowing.

I sought this product out to de-weed my small yard, mostly from dandelions and also help feed the grass. I used as per the instructions and applied after a light rain about a month ago, so far there has not been any new weeds popping up, so that is a major plus and my grass is really coming in lush in areas that were lacking the nutrients it needed.

It has been raining a lot in my area so once the spring showers have moved on I will be reapplying and I’m pretty sure my weed problem will be fixed. Definitely glad I found this product.

The product is unbelievable with both spring and fall fertilizer, the best in my neighborhood. Within 2 weeks of putting down spring mixture grass is bright green and thriving. The fall version definitely helps my lawn for the winter and ready for the spring application.

Despite better results in prior year, I feel this is still the best fertilizer for me. Maybe due to heavier rains and hoter days this past summer. I needed to frequently spray to control crab grass & weeds.

Ended season with bad case of grubs (not due to Greenview). Overall lawn on par with neighbors with pro service.

I received the Scotts home defense and was very much impressed with the battery spray mechanism. I highly recommend the product. I used the 3 in I thicker lawn product along with the lawn soil on bare spots and as an over seed of my front lawn and it did not germinate – I believe due to very cool nights.

I applied the blue grass and it di not germinate for the same reason as above. I have some seed left and will attempt to apply it again as the weather get’s warmer.

I must admit I was a bit skeptical. So, I covered my front and back lawns with Safer Brand No Phosphate Lawn Restore Fertilizer. It works quite well and in about four days I could see the difference in the color and a slight thickness in some areas of the lawn.

I’m sure in time the lawn should restore growth in thin areas. The color of the grass is really outstanding. It is a richer, deeper color. One of the best features besides the ease of spreading it over the lawn areas is that it is safe for children and pets.

That is a great positive because many folks worry about their children and pets getting sick over chemically treated fertilizers. No phosphate is a must in fertilizing your lawn and one of the results is the non burning of the grass.

Please ensure you read the instructions and water thoroughly immediately after fertilizing. This is a requirement to make it work. It comes in a 25 pound bag and you need about 4-8 pounds for a 1,000 SF and can be applied in the spring, summer and fall.

It also gives instructions on how to apply the product to very thin areas of your lawn. It seems to be a good product and I recommend it and submit a positive report.

Instead Happy Lawn Summer worked great on my lawn. I got a 25. 46 lb bag and spread it on my front yard where I have the most problem areas. I have tried many different products and haven’t had much luck.

I followed the directions on the bag of the Instead Happy Lawn, which were very easy to follow. The results were not immediate, however it’s been a few weeks now and my Lawn has never looked better! It is greener, fuller and just looks beautiful.

My neighbors have asked me what I have used and I have happily told them. I love that this brand is made with pet/children friendly ingredients and that the ingredients are natural. The packaging is also recyclable so that’s just another plus.

The grass around the furthest perimeter of my backyard was infested with crabgrass and weeds. Before Spring sprung, I used a weed and grass killer product not realizing that the product would kill my grass.

I must have bought the wrong product. After Spring got here, I prepared the area by raking in soil, I used a spreader to spread the Scotts Turf Builder Rapid Grass Bermudagrass onto the soil, and then I watered the area.

I like the Scotts Turf Builder Rapid Grass Bermudagrass because it has a mix of seed and fertilizer. According to the advertisement on the bag this mix allows lawns to grow 2 times faster. I also followed directions to water twice daily for the first 3 weeks.

I can see the seeds have sprouted grass. I look forward to a luscious Bermudagrass lawn again. I recommend this product.

IšverstiShow in original languageThis is carried by our big box and mom and pop hardware stores here. It has no phosphates which makes it fish and aquatic friendly. Spread over a lawn that has early spring bulbs (snow drops, crocuses, muscari and dwarf irises) within the grass.

I feel it actually improved the growth of not only the grass but the performance of my spring bulbs. Used along the edge where our fruit trees (cherry, espalier apple and plum) are and it helped their spring budding as well.

Since it doesn’t have the weeding chemicals in it I didn’t hesitate to use it.

I do not like killing things but I also dont like rodents in my house. I live in a rural area and we get mice in the house occasionally. I use the tomcat traditional mouse traps in my attic and in accessible places.

They work extremely well and are super easy to set up. My dog can be attracted to them as I use peanut butter to lure the beasts and i am always afraid he will get his snout snapped. I decided to try the Tomcat Rat & Mouse Killer Child & Dog Resistant trap.

It is very durable and strong, Its easy to handle and can be placed wherever it’s needed. It can be placed against the wall or just on the floor. This is disposable and safe. The bait is already in the station, so no need to be handle any bait at all.

Overall, a really good trap that works really well.

The mice are starting to come into the barn and garage as the cooler weather is drawing them to the warmth. We keep feed in these locations to include dog food, chicken feed, corn and grain. Unfortunately the mice like to eat these products as we notice holes in the bags.
