20 Best Fertilizer For Sandy Soil (2023 Updated)

This is the only product I could find that met the recommendations of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources for zoysia grass. I could not find a product with these ratios in the local lawn

I sprayed more than half of the solution about 5 days ago. Looks like the grass is changing from yellow to green. I wish there was more in the bottle- I have a large space to cover. Definitely recommend.

My centipede starts to grow and a late spring freeze knocks it back. So it goes into summer with yellow areas and large yellow spots. The more normal green/yellow has been restored in 24 hours, not perfect but more than good enough to keep the HOA off my back.

Booster has helped very much. (what has not worked) usual fertilizer, liquid iron, lime, re-sodding in spots, top soil,.

I’ve used this product over a period of several weeks two separate times. The first time, I used a little more of the measured amount than stipulated and I watered the plants weekly. In a month’s time, half of them had died so I stopped using the product.

A few months later, I thought I would try again – this time, being precise and exact in following indicated directions. After a month, I have killed several plants and others have had their leaves turn brown and are in he process of dying.

A loss of several hundred dollars. Do yourself a favor and only use water. Otherwise, you will kill some of your plants.

These are the best accessories for your plants. my plant was dying and had lost most of its leaves. I didn’t want to repot it because the plant had already grown, but I didn’t want it to die either. Buying the Miracle Grow Indoor Plant Feeders was a last ditch effort to save this guy and it worked! Fertilizer sticks are easy to use, just push them into the soil and water.

Your plants will flourish once you start feeding them these little guys. I highly recommend this product for healthy, happy plants and for plant owners who don’t want to repot!.

Ok so I’m not the greatest gardener, and I can’t remember what types of feeds for what type of plants. I just know that someone told me years and years ago about miracle gro all purpose and I’ve never looked back.

It’s so easy to add a so in my watering can every 2 weeks. Perfect for indoor and outdoor plants, I haven’t had any that don’t do well with this. It even comes with the scoop for measuring in the 2 most common watering can sizes.

How easy is that?.

An excellent, all over fertilizer that I have been trying to find for a long time. This can be used on fruit trees, all over your yard, flower beds, etc. , and does an outstanding job. Got tired of buying all of the ‘specialty’ fertilizers and this one certainly does an outstanding job on thick, awful clay soil.

Very effective fertilizer. Gives me a full green lawn with no bare spots. The 12% potassium promotes good grass root structure. The 12% nitrogen gives a deep green lawn. I spread in fall after core aeration and in March for spring feeding.

Came out of the bag moist, no clumps but moist. Would always leave 6-10 lbs in hopper due to not flowing well. Also, it had some black substance in it that would build up on the agitator pin and when it got to be quarter size, it would flake off and clog up the drop hole.

I had to stop every few minutes and empty the hopper so I could break up the black clumps. No way to get an even, consistent spread. Very disappointed.

Some reviews complain about the price as compared to synthetic fertilizer just because its processed organic waste (biosolids). The Greenskeepers fertilizer (12-12-12 and the lawn product 32-3-10) work well as a lower cost alternative as a hybrid lawn treatment used with Milorganite at the lower application rate for FL.

*Experience with cool season grass has taught me to use 1/3 of each product mentioned at the bag rate for each product per 1,000 sq-ft: 2 Lbs Milorganite + 1 lb 12-12-12 + 1 lb 32-3-10, the combination of products will give you a great color lawn on a budget.

Keep in mind you should put down 3-4 applications for the year to maintain color and vigor of your lawn.

Too much work & water. Less nitrogen in this so you don’t get a burst of green that quickly exhausts the soil nutrients. Best to immediately blow off walkways that get fertilized otherwise iron will stain, esp.

I bought the raised bed last year and needed the best soil cause what I got locally didn’t grow a thing so I ordered your potting soil. The only thing was your lady on the phone figured out the amount I needed and she over sold it by 14 bags But instead of sending it back I sold it to my friends I plan that I will have a wonderful growing season this year with your potting mix and compost and fertilizer I have used your company for many years and encouraged many friends to do so and they have Everyone is extremely pleased as I am also.

My garden so far has flopped but because of lack of rain for 6 weeks so none (very few)of the veggie seeds came up despite trying to water them. I planted again with some rain. Things seem to be better now but hard to tell the impact of the fertilizer without a controlled trial.

Since the organic release gradually hope is it lasts the season without having to fertilize several times. Unless you are very careful when applying the dust will get on your clothes and you will smell the fertilizer for the rest of the day.

So plan on changing, tossing clothes in the wash and jumping in the shower-or at least don’t plan on a dinner date immediately after applying. It’s not an awful odor -could help if your date is a real organic freak.

I started my garden and the soil in my backyard was definately NOT good. and I was trying everything, including Miracle Grow and that works, but NOT like this. I saw almost an INSTANT change in my garden.

My son uses this product on his lawn. I have seen such good results that he has now been using this on my lawn. I bought myown bag of Love Your Soil to mix with Milorganite to use on my newly planted evergreens and plants.

Got this a week before delivery date so that was a good thing. Used this to make Mittleider Weekly Feed. Tried to find a 25 lb bag but couldn’t so I used this 20 lb bag and reduced epsom salt to 3 lbs.

Used the 10 oz package of micro minerals. Will add additional epsom salt as needed. So far it’s working just like it’s supposed to. Will order again if I make it successfully through the entire growing season with this mix.

This apparently is not good for pumpkin plants despite research I found on the internet stating 5-10-5 was what should be used. The day after I applied the plant food all 18 of my pumpkin plant were show signs of wilting.

Within 3 days the four smallest plants (vines about 2 to 3 ft. ) were dead. The other 14 vines (4 to 20 ft) have half of their leaves withered and brown but so far after a week are still alive.

I bought this to use as ice melt. This eleviates the damage to caused by apply regular melt to sidewalks etc., and then being shoveled later onto your grass. this fertilizes your lawn.

This is the blend for the original Mittleider method. I cannot find it in my area at all — even special order. It’s heavy for shipping, but worth it.

Amazing product. Perfect ratio, so with a broadcast spreader there is no burning and the lawn is a deep green. Grass is thick and healthy.

Absolutely NOT near as effective as Scotts. I bought 13 bags to spread over approximately 2. 2 acres. So far there is zero difference in how green my lawn is. I would normally see a difference within a few days of using Scotts.

I just wasted $$$ on this garbage.

Fertilizer may be good but buying on line is not. See previous review as Frustrated 2 for lime purchase. I paid on line for a specific amount of lime in store. Got there trying to figure out the new corona procedure, (corral), and waiting what seemed like an eternity, only about half amount of lime was there, with a corrected bill.

Then miraculously they found their stock and I had to repurchase, negating the benefit of pickup in the parking lot without handling money. I never do reviews as they are time consuming, and a terrible way to judge, but that is how it is now.

I ate the cost of the lost ~ 6 bags of lime on the bottom that were wet and could not be spread. It wasn’t worth the headache to complain. Daily I wish I had been born 50 years earlier.

Easy to apply — flowed well through my Scotts rotary spreader. Very well packaged — no leaks, no odor from the bag. Although there was a (small) bit of smell when I was pouring it into my spreader hopper (and a good bit of dust), there was no lingering odor once applied to the lawn.

It is a good (maybe superior) alternative to Milorganite, which I’ve used for many years. It is all natural, “goof proof” (as accidental over-application still won’t burn your lawn), and won’t overdose your grass with too much phosphorus.

Works fine. Organic/natural fertilizer is the way to go for long term health of your lawn. This stuff worked real nice. It smells for a day or so, not too bad.

Had minimal detectable effect [i. e. browning] after two weeks, and then only on fine spiral-bur clover. Had no detectable effect whatsoever on all other broad-leaf weeds like Dandelions. Just followed up today with spray on weed killer.

Over the years I’ve found most any brand of weed and feed nearly useless on lawn weeds in Central CA, valleys or coastline. You must fertilize, then spray for weeds separately to have any significant effect.

Lawn green-up was also minimal after two weeks.

Comparing this to Scotts Turf builder: Ingredients are similar N/P/K is 29-0-4 compared to Turf builder’s 32-0-4 It costs a fair amount less As Scott’s says; their pellets are all in one. I can see that as a potential benefit as their fertilizer will be a 32-0-4 mix everywhere it is spread.

The Ace brand does have separate pellets, so if they are not evenly mixed, it will not be a 29-0-4 mix everywhere it is spread. BUT to my eye, it was evenly mixed. AND the pellets did not stick together like what happens with Scott’s fertilizers I have used.

Another reviewer complained that it did not work well with his Scott’s drop spreader. For my Scott’s hand held broadcast spreader, the fact that the pellets did not stick together made it work better than Scott’s fertilizers for my spreader.

I am going to stick with this.

Usually, I buy the Scotts 4 step program, but, this year I decided to try the ACE brand since it was cheaper. My Review isn’t really based on the effectiveness of the product as that is yet to be seen, but, more about the application.

I have a Scott Elite spreader that is 1 year old. The step 1/2/3 use 3. 5 for spreader settings. I didn’t change this when adding the ACE crabgrass and very little was coming out. The yellow crystals appear quite larger than Scotts.

The bag says to use setting 4, but, that was even low. I ended up bumping up to 4. 5 to get correct distribution. So word of caution is to increase your number if coming from Scotts.
