20 Best Fertilizer For Christmas Cactus (2023 Updated)

I used this product to re-pot my tired-looking succulents. None of the stores in my area carried a succulent/cactus mix last year when I needed it. I had to use regular potting soil. It kept the plants alive, but they were not thriving.

Finally, I ordered this Espoma cactus mix from Gardener’s Supply. I just re-potted all the plants a few days ago, and they already look happier. I have about 20 succulents (jade plants, echeveria, burro’s tail), and they are all pleased with the new growing medium.

This growing medium is designed to have the appropriate drainage for succulents and cacti. Also, it’s got mycorrhizae that are supposed to be able to live for 5 years in the packaging. This is great because I bought two bags, and I know that if I store it properly, the remainder of my purchase will be good for next year too.

Works great. Absolutely no bugs. I use it on most of my houseplants (zz plant, snake plant, christmas cactus, etc). Plants thrive and do exceptionally well. In fact, I prefer this mix to what our local garden centers offer (which had bugs).

And it’s much cheaper here than anywhere else. Seriously, don’t hesitate to buy this cactus potting mix.

I bought 4 bags of this cactus mix to repot my Easter/Thanksgiving/Christmas cactus and when I opened the first two bags fungus gnats flew out. I had just eliminated all the fungus gnats I had gotten with the previous bags of Espoma cactus mix (not realizing the first time that was the source of the fungus gnats) I’m a new indoor plant gardener.

I wouldn’t recommend this soil. I also went to the Espoma website and let them know about the problems I’ve had with their cactus soil. I’m now researching soils but it seems that most brands for cactus have issues with fungus gnats.

I was given golden potho’s clippings a few weeks ago, so that I could try and grow one of my own, as I recently fully embraced the plant Mom life 🌿🌱🌰🤍💚. It was recommended by a another plant Mom to use this to get it started, well this morning when I went to check on them and change the water 💦 I noticed a little root starting, checked the other one and sure enough there’s a little root starting 😍😍.

in other words this stuff works and these little guys are gonna grow beautifully.

I’m a plant momma and I use this to keep my plants happy! They seem to love it! However, be careful not to use too much as it can cause burnt tips on your plants leaves (just like any other fertilizer).

Make sure you follow the instructions carefully when using this product. 💚 (I can’t find this product so I tagged the same brand that’s also a liquid plant food).

These food plants help my cactus products flowers a lot. I have tried many brands of food plants but, this is the one I love. I drop it in water, or the plant pot, then waters it. I’m satisfied with it.

Amazing product that will transform your plants. I use this for new plantings and to fertilize early in the spring and later in fall. I had a hydrangea that didn’t bloom for years, until I applied an early spring application of holly tone.

This beauty EXPLODED this past summer and I can’t wait to see what she does next year! hollytone has revived some of my pencil hollys that we’re looking a bit malnourished, and you can see the plants perk up within a few days of application.

I also used this on a very slow growing scarlet quince that only gets a couple of flowers per year- this year it got so big I had to prune her back! Feed your babies this- they will thank you.

I really like this cactus fertilizer it’s organic and works. Of course you use more than you would on the toxic chemical fertilizer but it’s the price you pay for a healthy garden and environment…. the problem I have is that they no longer have the self measure pour cap anymore so you must pour manually and it gets messy.

the more you do the messier it gets. Please bring the old cap back. This new cap is a real problem. Thankfully I have the old cap and added it. I would have rated it a 5 if it weren’t for the fact they removed that beneficial and easy to use cap.

I killed a succulent brought it back to life with this indoor succulent or Cactus food. So far we are really loveing this, we watched lots of reviews how to bring your succulent back to life this was recommended.

That’s why I love giving reviews because it really helps when I make a purchase. I always try to give as much details as possible so you to can know if this is something for you!? So if you’re a succulent lover want to keep them healthy indoors, I highly recommend this.

and it’s Organic which is important when growing plants.

I could only find this online from Walmart. It is the good stuff. It is also a much better price than the well-known brand that isn’t as concentrated.

Cactus plus is the very best food for my cacti, my 2 Christmas cactus have put out 4 new leaves per branch in just a short period of time. I also use it in water spray bottle and give them a spray on my porch about every 4-5 days.

This is the second time I have ordered this fertilizer. I opened the package to find something that is not labeled organic, as was the previous one, but was advertised as such. I am very disappointed in this.

I’ve not yet used the new one to see my plants’ responses. Please update your information to reflect that is is no longer organic. Thank you.

After a friend recommended this, I couldn’t buy it fast enough. I’ve always been really intimidated by plants foods in general. Measuring, mixing, roots burning. it’s a lot. The shakers make it super simple! I’m confident I’ll be off to a great start this spring with all 109 of my plant babies!.

I’ve only used it once so far (about a week ago) and almost all my plants have new growth on them that wouldn’t be there otherwise. I’m really excited to use the product again and see even more results! It didn’t even remotely hurt any of my plants.

When I smelled the bottle it smelled earthy, but no odor when I actually used the product. I’ll def buy more when I run out :).

I have been using the original Black Gold Cactus Soil for past three years for my Fiddles Leaf Fig plants. I used it because of the quality of the soil and because it drained fast. However after hearing from several members in the Fiddle Leaf Fig Resource Group that they were having problems with drainage of this soil.

So I phoned SunGro company and spoke with a service representative. She said that the company changed their formula the beginning of the year (2021) and also changed the packaging to read Black Gold Cactus and Succulent Soil Mix.

She said the current formula did not drain as fast as the original formula. As a result I’m having problems with some of my plants’s leaves getting brown spots. This is a sign of too much moisture on the roots.

I will not be purchasing this soil any more and don’t recommend it to others.

I mix this with Better Gro Orchid Mix and it makes a perfect aroid mix for my Monsteras/White Knight Philodendrons. I used this on my snake plants but added in a lot of perlite so it gets better drainage since I tend to overwater.

I’ve only used this mix after its formula change and had no issues. There are cheaper brands of Cactus Soil Mixes which may look tempting but a lot of them hold so much water and don’t drain as well.

I used Miracle Grows Cactus Mix prior to this and got root rot and fungus gnats. So currently this is one of the best options for the price; there might be better options for slightly more in cost.

The old formulation of this cactus mix was amazing for my fiddle leaves. It was a high quality mix with great drainage. However, this NEW formulation is the complete opposite. It’s not different than getting MiracleGRO.

It retails too much moisture, was infested with fungus gnats, and NOT work the premium pricing. Please bring back the old formulation!.

i have been using this line of nutes for over a year now testing other lines here and there. I can say the peppers and tomatoes seem to respond pretty well. I only suggest to go about 3/4 strength of what the directions say.

I see better results.

Excellent product. Increases internodal spacing in early flower and then fills those spaces with giant buds. Bit pricey as your plants will require a healthy dose (19ml/gal) for a 4 week window but most definitely worth it.

Also works well for a 2 week window in mid veg when used in half doses but you’ll have to lower the concentration of your base nutrient. Highly recommended.

I’ve never used anything to “feed” my houseplants. I hope they like this! I have it 4 stars because it was a smaller amoint than I was expecting. you might want to upgrade to the larger bottle when purchasing.

I love that JD is expanding their line up, but I would love to see a ‘performance’ version(s) that focus explosive and bountiful growth, as opposed to all-around health of the soil. Like a ‘pro’ version.

Otherwise, the all purpose formula can make the soil smell like sweet petrichor and doesn’t disappoint.
