20 Best Fence For Uneven Ground (2023 Updated)

Was surprised when we realized the fencing we had in the same location previously was only 40” tall. We had recently fenced the area with field fencing. We purchased a 48” roll. It didn’t work out as we’d hoped, our dogs were able to get out through the fence.

We decided to replace it with welded wire. Much to our surprise the welded wire was much taller than the field fencing. Much to our surprise, the field fencing was much shorter than the 48” roll we had payed for.

The welded wire was exactly 48”.

Welded joints break easily with the slightest pull. Will not conform to any dips or bumps in the yard without twisting and kinking. Have to constantly cut the wire at angles with a lot of waste to get a good looking job.

Time consuming and poorly made product. Similar wire from other places is much easier to work with. Not bad in flat runs. Won’t be buying this brand ever again.

Perfect for what I need. It took a while, but I found the fencing I needed. Flexible, durable, and the right height. It is not the thin netting that is so common and doesn’t work. Squares are small enough to keep deer noses out and is thick enough to keep the deer from chewing holes in it.

I didn’t know how I would use a 100′ roll but now that I have it, it will be used in places I had planned on putting different fencing. It even blends in so well most people don’t see it until they are almost on top of it.

Fairly heavy deer traffic near Chesapeake Bay, did not want to install electric fencing or metal mesh due to cost and increased complexity, this Tenax Select fencing is exceptionally good solution. Incredibly strong, roughly 650lbs break strength, low visibility and easy to work with, stiff structure yet pliable.

I would recommend and purchase again for another garden plot.

Very nice quality. Perfect for our yard to fence off the dog run from the rest of the yard. Needed 2 packages of fencing for project. However, the gate attachment/piece (sold separately) for this fence is silly expensive, so we made a make-shift gate out of a left over panel.

Having tried, and failed, to design and build diy fencing for our cats, we can say that cats are extremely good at escaping. Part of our specific problem is that we have a very difficult yard to fence in, with 3 terraced levels and mismatched fencing materials/heights, but proximity to predators and traffic made it mandatory (since we refuse to restrict our beloved cats to indoors-only).

Rent an “edger” from home improvement store for fast and easy digging, and read the directions well on how to install. It seemed complicated at the time, but looking back, it really was simple. As far as training the cats goes.

I got a harness and leash, and they would just plop over and lie there when I put it on them. It was quite comical-they would just plop over and lie still. If I got the cats on their feet, they dug in and would not move.

I had to pull and drag them. I felt it cruel to drag them across the yard to the flags while they were laying on their side only to quickly drag them back away from flags while they were laying on their side.

I put up the flags and the cats quickly figured their boundaries out. I supervised them outside for a good week or so, to make sure they did not zip through the boundary during a zap. So don’t be dismayed about training your cats, it can be done by letting them figure it out on their own.

As I said, they each got 2 different zaps within the first couple days, and that was that. Cats are smart. But by all means, try the training out first. Your cats may be more amenable to the leash. From a happy customer and my 2, still living on the side of the busy highway, cats!.

Very pleased with the PetSafe Inground Pet Fence. It was a little time consuming to install (a weekend project) but the wire affords me the ability to define specific boundaries vs the wireless option; not that wireless is bad but it just didn’t meet my needs.

I picked up this kit of extras because it was on sale and I couldn’t beat the deal anywhere else. I think I’ll be needing it at some point in the future to expand the area for our dogs.

The collar supplied with this kit is junk. Works sometimes and doesn’t work at other times. The beeper works once in awhile and then for some reason stops working. The shock works once in awhile and then again it shocks continuously when you are nowhere near the line.

the line is nowhere near my house, yet once sitting at my kitchen table I continuously kept getting shocked. Called the company and they are sending me another collar. Will see how this works.

Glad I spent the extra money and bought the Original texas fence fixer and not the knock off one. Definitely a time saver for mending/retightening fence and easy to carry around. Had a tree fall on 4 stands of barb wire didn’t break and wires but the 300′ fence line was loose in about 4-5 minutes I had all 4 strands click below banjo tight.

Retightened old barbed wire with no issues and it’s tight as well. Would highly recommend and have showed buddies of mine to help with time saving on their fences.

Great tool MADE IN TEXAS of cast steel. It has the name cast into the handle. I had to deduct 1 star because I live in Texas and would have preferred it to be shipped within state. Unfortunately mine got shipped from New Hampshire.

so evidently (money wise) we are dealing with carpet baggers, (as such) it was naturally 5 days late. but I have no complaints re the tool. It makes tightening old barbed wire fast and efficient.

Today, we tried the Original Texas Fence Fixer. It really worked. This is a tool made in Seguin, TX, that tightens the barbed wire between 2 posts. It works best with 2 people, but can be operated by a single person.

We are very happy with this tool. It takes very little time to tighten a strand of wire. We tightened 8 places in less than 30 minutes. We highly recommend this product.

I wish everyone had a cat fence! Our cats love being outdoors and with the purrfect cat fence they are safe from being hit by cars, safe from predators and getting into fights with neighbor cats. Almost every day I see posts on our Nextdoor so of how someone lost a kitty that snuck out of the house, was hit by a car or killed and eaten by a coyote.

So sad. Could have been prevented if they had a cat fence or catio!.

Years ago we bought a similar system. We did not like it. For our current cats we first bought a catio! They liked it, but the dog was outside and that’s where Leo and Max wanted to be!!!!!!!! We modified our backyard and were then able to add the purrfect fence system to our block walk.

We and the cats loooove it! We did. have to find someone to install it for us which was a bit expensive, but there was no other choice. My husband is 80 and I am not that handy.

This is perfect at keeping our cats safe and in the yard. We’ve used it for over one year now and they have yet to escape the yard. We have 100% confidence in it. Even though it is mounted lower than recommended, it works! We attached to a wrought iron fence and it is almost invisible to neighbors.

I ordered two of these rolls, but I plan to return one of them. When I opened the first roll and placed it on my balcony, I was surprised by the low quality of the bamboo. The pieces are not uniform- some are quite thin and some are thick.

Some of the bamboo is curved instead of straight. The bamboo itself looks to be of a low quality. I am very disappointed. I am not even putting a protective coating on the screen because it doesn’t seem worth it.

I don’t know if the other screen is better- I haven’t opened it. Just a warning to others that this bamboo screen isn’t that great (in my opinion), contrary to what other reviewers have written. Not horrible, but not something I would recommend or buy again.

Works great for our balcony!! Only giving 4 stars because it has quite a few sharp pieces that splinter out AND I also had to pull a bunch of random loose metal threading that was caught in parts of the bamboo, no idea where that would have come from.

For the price though you cannot beat it! We love it, looks so good!.

Gauge Welded Wire Fence/Got from TryIt Purchased the fencing to help with projects in my garden. Works well as a trellis to grow larger plants vertically to save space in the garden. It’s much sturdier than fabric or plastic netting to support crops which produce heavy fruits such as Cucmbers squashes and melons.

Also build small fence around vegetable garden to keep our dogs out of the area. Was easy to work with and does what it was intended for. Used a rolled wire to attach the fence to fence posts or metal piping we used to build a large trellis.

I am satisfied with this product. I highly recommend.

Works perfectly at keeping deer away from garden area that they use to enjoy snacking on. Our property backs up to wooded area where we have an abundance of deer. I love to garden and needed to section off an area that the deer loved a bit too much.

Fencing was easy to install using heavy duty garden pins to stabilize fencing. Like the steel color as it doesn’t stand out and blends into landscape and fence is definitely high grade. Deer were out at dawn today and stayed away so I am thrilled and so are my plants!.

I needed this for my garden to keep out the critters. This fencing is very strong and made very well, It was very easy to set up around my garden with the poles we had from a previously wire from years ago.

Overall I am very pleased and plan on purchasing xtra to finish my fencing off. May I add I love this kind of wire for my tomato plants and sweet potatoes, cucumbers etc, so the vines can grow right thru the fencing.

When stretching the fence to attach to next pole, it did not come loose at the welded spots or where the fence attaches. great product!!!!.

Over the past few years, I have fenced in 10 acres of land and recently another 20 acres. To finish my most recent fencing project i purchased three rolls of Field Fencing Red Brand 360 ft rolls. For the first time I had a defective role.

The bottom horizontal wires were not the same length as the top horizontal wires. And, of course I had quite a bit of that roll stapled up. So, there was no turning back. We did the best we could to get the buckles out and make it look presentable.

But. it looks like a grade schooler put it up. I have purchased close to 20 roles in the last few years and none of the rest had this poor quality control.

I’ve been using Red Brand field fence for over 30 years on three different properties, and this year was the first time I ever had a problem. Stretching it by hand yesterday, and it broke three (3) different times!! Red Brand is NOT the quality it used to be!! I should have just bought the cheap stuff and saved myself a lot of money!! I’ll never waste my money in it again.

If I’m going to have to fix broken strands, I might as well buy the cheaper stuff. And for the record, I’m a partially disabled 57 year old woman so there is NO way I was getting it too tight. Just another company that has gone the route of saving money and foregoing their reputation for a good product.

My Review is a love-hate relationship with this type of fence. It’s a good brand and it’s good high-quality material if you want something that’s going to last, and if you want a general type of fence that’ll maintain A solid perimeter around your property or pastures.

That being said, I’m not really a fan of low tensile field fence anymore. In order to do a good installation that will actually stay tight, keep animals out, and look good you will need to spend quite a bit more money than you initially think.

For example, 1) I use a ratio of 1 3” wood post for every 5 t-posts, 2) I use 6” corner braces, and h braces for all Gates or significant bends in the fence-line, and 3) I don’t follow any of the instructions that red brand gives you about anchoring to your end posts or stretching the wire.

If you anchor the fence to you and posts with Staples it’s guaranteed that the wire will slip between the staples and loosen up overtime and make the fence extremely loose, weak, and sloppy looking. To terminate the ends of my fence, I use Gripple T-Clips, To wrap the wire around the post and tie it securely to itself, Also I use Gripple medium clips at the middle of the fence runs and use the contractor tool to tension the fence.

I personally recommend using Gripple medium clips at each middle point of your fence runs so you can tension the fence as needed, for example if a massive tree branch falls on the fence and substantially loosens it up you can retention it back.

Which exactly gets to my point about why this type of fence is really not that great to begin with. I‘ve built about 5 acres of this type of fence, And I will not be using it again. For my next project which will be about 60 acres, I’m going to use a six strand high tensile electric fence due to the shear ease of maintenance, reliability, and longevity.

High tensile can be knocked down by a tree, or run over by a car and spring right back up with very little repair work, which is a substantial benefit if you have many trees near your pastures. It also can cost less, if you use the right materials, and it definitely is less labor—you don’t need to use 6” round for every line post like many people say. Again, you can definitely throw this type of fence up using T-posts and the minimum wood posts needed, but just don’t expect it to be super impervious or tight for many years without considerable maintenance, and I’m a stickler for a good fence which is why I’m going with high tensile in the future.

I have been very pleased with this fencing to contain my horses. The gauge and structure is very solid and the smaller space between the wires prevents my gelding from getting his foot caught in the wire when pawing.

While a little harder to manage when putting up than conventional “hogwire” (it’s heavier and stouter), in the endgame this is the best route to go to contain these large pets. It was however, a little pricey, but in this post-covid age everything is expensive.

I have installed hundreds of feet of this fencing and I believe it is a good value for the money. Of course it has gone up in price, like everything else, but I believe the blame should be laid elsewhere for the rise in price.

Tractor Supply’s prices are usually pretty fair in my opinion. One thing I figured out as I went is it is better to stretch and tie this when the temp is hot. Seems to stretch and stay tighter.

Red Brand should thank the “complainer” who claimed: “the roll is extremely heavy. ” That cracks me up!. the 5 & Dime has plastic fence. We have four paddocks that were fenced with this roughly three decades ago.

The only thing that’s ever really damaged it was when a five foot wall of water in a flash flood bombarded it, & even then, it didn’t break, it filled with debris, breaking a few posts which forced that section to twist and get mangled due to the temporary river.

Now to me, that’s a fence worth building and maintaining. Best of all. from melting the scrap steel to make the wire – all the way to slapping on the label, it’s made right here in the USA! Something about that alone, just makes a farmer proudly assured of longevity and durability when building a fence with this stuff.

NO, YOU CAN NOT GO WRONG WITH THIS WIRE AND TS always has huge selection of it for a very reasonable price. Finally, whoever said “joints broke”. well, I think anyone who’s put up any length of fence knows what she did to it before it broke?.

This is the square knot Red Brand fence, however, compared to fencing from 7-8 years ago, it is smaller gauge wire. Works fine, but you cannot pull it as tight. No more “will a lamb bounce off of it?” tight.

We are noticing that much of the fencing materials are made with softer steel.

This is exactly what it claimed. The wire sizes are an excellent balance of weight vs strength. And for 300ft, this is a great deal. It is a heavy roll, but great if you need a continuous run.

The product I bought is actually OK Brand, but it was in the system as this Redrand Wire. I purchased and installed this fence myself around our garden area to keep cows and dogs out. I also installed a single electric fence wire 6″ above it to keep the cows from pushing on the top.

I like the fence height for the purpose I used it for. I purchased two rolls on of which need to be repaired with a crimp sleeve in two places. The wire also seems to have little shear resistance. If I used my fencing pliers to grip and pull the wire tight around my end posts, the wire would break where my pliers had gripped it.

One strand of the wire also broke while stretching with my fence stretcher/tightener which was also purchased from TSC.

1) Minus 1 star for Tractor Supply having some other brand in stock and loading it without notifying us. It seems to match the description of this branded fence, but I hate surprise purchases. 2) Whatever brand/type fence we got: 2 weeks up and no issues with Nigerian/Dwarf Goats.

I needed to build fence in a hurry to seperate a new horse from the herd so it would be safe. The field fence was the perfect height to still have enough room to add a string of barbed wire at the top.

The price of the fence is a value for the length that you get. It was very easy to roll out and install. I am extremely happy with the field fencing. Works perfect. Keeps dogs out and horses in. I would reccomend this product, just realize it is shorter than the typical 4′ height but great for adding a hot wire or barbed wire at the top.

I will definately buy this again.

strong, secure fence. heavy gauge wire, cross wires are wound around giving flexibility and making installation easier, rolling fence out and stretching was much easier than a welded fence. feels and appears like fencing that will last 20-30 years.

expense was rather high, but a quility fence always costs more but usually last much longer also.

I used this product instead of rabbit fencing when installing a split rail fence. The county where I live does not allow fences near the waterfront that might cause any flooding to worsen by trapping debris.

This product is working well. At only 32” high and used with a 3’ split rail fence, it allows me to weed whack at the base easily.

This wire fencing is metallic and generally suitable for limiting the range of livestock, except for our boy goats, who consider it as only a minor hindrance in their pursuit of the nannies who will walk by their pen and shake their furry butts at the boys.

I guess if I was a goat I would also continuously push on the fence until the metal fatigues, allowing passage so I could have my way with the girls. I kid (no pun) you not; it was like I had a drunken frat party at the barn when the boys got out.

Guess I can’t blame the wire as nature will find a way.
