20 Best Feeding Times For Deer (2023 Updated)

I always buy these after gun season, in the fall when they go on clearance in the stores. Usually about $2. 50 each. I give them away to my father, brother-in-laws, and friends for Christmas presents.

This Apple salt block does work very well, but it’s just pricey. I personally just use the same 50 lb white salt block that we’ve used for cattle. I hit it with the sledge hammer and break it up and use different chunks in different locations.

Minus the fact that they are white and easily visable to people in the woods, they work fine and can be purchased for usually $5 – $7. I do recommend this product, though. The ones that I have used like this (when purchased on sale) always work really well, and attract deer usually withing 2 days time.

I tried the block out in early season near other sites in which I used the faithful corn. Although August and september is kind of hit and miss with trail cameras, I noticed I had more shots over the mineral block than I did over the corn.

It may be due to the fact the crops were still in the ground, Being that I hunt in Kansas, food is never really an issue until later in the season. What I really liked about it it the price and the fact that it last a long time.

also it doesn’t get consumed by all the other critters in the area. In addition, its nie to know that the block will be there for a longer period of time compared to grain. Which keeps me from having to rebait and disturb the area.

Deer seem to like the blocks It smells really good They are a nice size for carrying in to remote areas

Please make this in organic corn! They spray our crops with herbicides with arsenic, etc. which I never buy. The hunters never think of that do they? We have to think of what we eat these days especially when we’re taking the animals habitat and that ruins our environment too.

I love to help the deer, turkeys and other wildlife God gives us so use this in winter all year actually except summer. It brings my beloved animals in and we get much joy from having them. My best moment was when I even had a young deer run toward me to get it! Sure, they chew on shrubs when starving but I find those come back and I get benefits from wildlife and even moose when they fertilize and bring in things like mock oranges and red osier dogwoods! Just think of why God gives these resources to us.

I’m not going to knock the corn because it’s pretty clean. However, you are taking a rather large chance buying this online to have it delivered. My corn arrived with several open bags (taped shut) and a strong perfume smell.

Obviously, some other shipping contents had been spilled on them. With so many bags, the people handling this stuff just don’t care. I now have 1000lbs of corn that will be going straight to hogs. Best to buy in the store for just a few bags or from your local feed store and get it on a pallet when you order that much.

Last thing, if a total bag is ripped or just doesn’t arrive, good luck getting reimbursed for that. Mine didn’t show up with any kind of paperwork to support the contents in shipping. I’m not even sure how it ultimately made it to my house.

I ordered 3 50lb bags of this corn 6/9/22 , FedEx delivered my PACKAGE on 6/11/22 with all 3bgs in 1 box , opened up the box there was No Damage at ALL , long story short , ALL 3bgs of corn were SUPER CLEAN !!!!! The deer quit coming to my feeder so I bought a bag to try cause nothing else was working. I put it out in the evening and that night I had pictures of deer fighting over it. I’m sold. we don’t even have beet farms here but the deer love this stuff.

They pass by the acorn crushed to get to the sugar beet crushed. My freezer thanks you.

I bought the from Tractor supply and put it out and nothin has touched it. Even have a camera on it. It is along a very heavy deer trail and current area we’re we have been feeding apple. Poured on ground and it is still in a nice pile like it was poured.

Deer have been in the area and not even touched it. Very dissatisfied for the money it Cost also.

This stuff is like gold. The deer go nuts for it. I see deer on my camera come back days after it has been eaten to tear up the ground looking for more. Great stuff. Just make it cheaper

Just ordered this last week. It came in very quickly, probably 3-4 days. I brought it to my hunting camp and installed it on my feeder. It fit great. I was so happy that this was going to work on a feeder that was given to my son.

Upon installing the batteries that came with it, it did not come on. Replaced those batteries with other batteries that I just bought for my cameras. It still did not come on. So, now I have to fill out a warranty ticket, pay to have it shipped back, wait 7-10 business days for it to return, and hope that it works after I drive the two hours back to my hunting camp.

I’m very disappointed and now I have to pay more money to for a defective piece of equipment that was sent to me brand new. VERY DISAPPOINTING!!!.

Use to feed a flock of ten chickens , allows us to leave the birds for a day and not worry about them missing a meal. Works perfectly with the chicken feed pellets that tractor supply sells. Feeder was simple to install, program, and only took a couple toys to get just the right amount of feed to dispense.

Would buy again.

I have used bait for three seasons now. I have tried all the big brands, and nothing works as fast and as continually as Big and J. I even tried an experiment. I live in a suburb built it the late 70’s.

I put half a bag in my side yard and the first night foxes and does show up, by the second night the bucks are coming! I have had 4 different bucks on the bait every night since.

Initially I was hesitant to use any bait in an hunting situation. Made the decision to try Big & J manufacturing LLC BB2 Granular Deer Attractant. Spread it adjacent to a deer travel route and mineral site; the combination of Big & J product and mineral provided very good results within hours after application to the mineral site.

Whitetails can’t resist & get enough of it. Impressive results, have purchased additional bulk bags for length of both Archery and Firearms seasons.

Saved a starving herd of deer with this. They love it. I’ve been feeding this year round for several years and it brings in huge bucks as well as the mamas and the babies. We don’t hunt them. We live in a suburban wooded area that is a dwindling habitat For what used to be a rural area full of deer.

Too many people and not enough habitat led to me finding starving mamas and babies in the spring. Broke my heart so I had to do what I could to help them. They love me and I love them. Lol. They actually wait for me to fill the bins every day.

Some of them walk right up to me while I’m in the outbuilding. I get different groups of deer different days and different times of the year. Sometimes it’s all bucks , sometimes it’s more of the babies and the mama’s.

I live on a main deer Trail so I get transient herds that come through all year round As well as some Regulars that bed down on my property. Helping nature is just the right thing to do. Pricey, but I do what I can.

Lots of 12 pointers, 10 pointers and everything in between all the way down to the precious young fawns every year. Wish they had a discount for those of us who purchase all the time all year round. L O L I have blink cameras all over outdoors and I get some great footage.

Bucks sparring during the rut, mamas feeding young ones, And just lots of great looking groups of bucks frolicking (especially one rowdy buck Who always kicks his buddy in the butt To get him away from feeders).

I been running cell cameras for the past 3 seasons and in my opinion big tine is by far the best attraction on the market. We have 5 cameras out at a time on 130 acre property and nothing comes close to big tine.

We tried almost everything else on the market. We’ve put other stuff next to big tine, we’ve put other stuff in front of other cameras while big tine was out and the high majority of bucks always hit the big tine first.

Until it was gone. Why? I have no idea because I’m not a scientist Hahha, but, we did our own experiments and Big tine won hands down. We had 5 bucks over 160” easy come in on big tine all season. Other stuff they shy’ed away from.

Weird. One huge buck came from another property religiously for it.

The product really works. I normally keep it on hand. However, I try to buy the 4 lb bag which is much more reasonably priced. I keep it in the freezer to keep it fresh. One of these size packets only makes one serving.

It would be nice if TSC sold the 4 lb bag.

My puppy was in between vaccines when she got Parvo. Vet said she had 25% chance of surviving. We were told by a Pit bull breeder that he uses bounce back when his puppies get parvo and has not lost one since.

So I rushed to TSC and bought some. She had already been to the vet and received an injection for vomiting. She drank the bounce back and loved it. By evening she was up and playing but still weak. I continued to give it and by the next day she was completely better.

The vet had wanted me to inject saline in her but I didn’t have to since she was doing so well. Best stuff ever. Saved our dogs life and saved me thousands of dollars at the vet!.

This is an amazing product. We use it any time our cows and calves need a boost after stress or bad weather. It is a life saver for baby calves. You can use it alone or mix it in milk replacer — the calves seem to love the taste.

We are repeat buyers of this product.

Set both this Purina Antler Max block right next to the Sportsman’s Choice Record Rack block. At the end of a 5 day hunt, the deer greatly preferred the Purina Antler Max block over the Sportsman’s Choice block.

Both block were fed upon, but the Purina block was diffidently hit harder by the deer. Next season, just the Purina block for me, and the deer.

I just started feeding deer casually to enjoy them in my back yard. The response has been immediate and thorough. I am going through a block in 3-4 days. They love this. Fawns’, Does’, and Bucks’ are all coming and licking/eating it.

They are really enjoying it. The block is easy to transport in its plastic sheathing and a simple light cut withe the utility knife removes the packaging. We haven’t had any rain so I cannot comment on its longevity when it gets wet.

I’m averaging 6 blocks a month with the deer and deer corn too which I pick up at TSC. Very happy.

They are always amore present when I j\have them out. I also feed them a blend of the antler max water shield pellets and the wet cob. The wet cob alone is not good for them as there are too many carbs, especially in winter.

The block brings around the ones that are young and being kicked out by mothers who are not allowed to feed with the herd.

This stuff works well. Put in front of my game camera to see if I could bring in something besides the usual same deer. On the second day the number of deer pictures doubled! The deer go for it big time plus it is good for them.

Used two bags and ordered two more. You won’t be disappointed.

The Deer seem to like it. Wish it was available in a 60lbs bag. I am seeing some really good antler growth and good body mass on the doe’s.

Within one day I had 7 different bucks go after this supplement. Great for taking pictures with the trail cam!! Now I have an inventory of the bucks in my hunting area.

The first two nights the deer seemed to be afraid of the food block. Once they got used to it they continually chewed on it throughout the night. One block was gone in 6 nights. I think they like it.

My deer herd loves this block. They come by every day for bite. It last about three to four weeks.

The results are not what I expected. The deer totally ignored the “Apple Burst Deer Block”. They would lick on the old, almost gone, Salt/Mineral Block. Then when the rains came the block started to fall apart after a couple weeks now no block, just a pile of stuff they still won’t eat.

Sorry, I guess it is what it is.

I bought three of these and put them out in late spring in different locations. Deer and bear were attracted and I got many pictures on my game cameras. They were gone by the end of July.

Set block out had two rains and the block turned to mush. Deer won’t touch the mush. Don’t waste your money.

Bought this 55 gal drum feeder for deep woods feeding. Carried everything out to the sight only to open the boxes and find no instructions (But hey I’m a dude and we don’t look at them anyway. right).

Good news though I did find enough styrofoam peanuts to feed a herd pink elephants for a lifetime! Hey Bass Pro!. Ever hear of bubble wrap?? Anyway. Figured out this had to be a return that was repackage due to dents, scratches and bent feeder hole.

Figured I wasn’t hauling it all back so I’d just make the best of it. After searching You Tube I was able to get it together and functioning. Thanks to those who created videos on this feeder – you’re awesome! My concern with the feeder is the legs seem weak for the weight this feeder holds.

I did buy and attach the feet with the ground pegs and taped the joints on the legs. One note: I purchased the varmint guard, however, without drilling additional holes there is really no place to attach this to the 55 gal drum feeder.

Second Note: The internal funnel will be needed (extra cost) or it appears feed will not cycle through completely from the sides of the feeder.

Bought this “Super Pro Magnum” feeder from Cabela’s at the end of summer. I am a long time Moultrie fan and have some 15 year old Moultrie feeders on my farm. Needed to replace one so I decided to go with, what I thought was a top of the line model.

This thing gets jammed almost every day. I mean jammed to the point where it drains the batteries and is difficult to free up. I am feeding shelled corn. Have tried corn from Cabelas, Wal-Mart, Tractor Supply, and local feed mill.

When I contacted Moultrie they told me “our feeder is designed to use 1/4″ corn, larger corn may cause it to jam”. Are you kidding me?? Where in the world do you get 1/4″ corn?? This feeder is an unusable piece of junk, but it is expensive so it’s got that going for it.

Wrote a similar negative review on Moultrie’s web site and they never published it.

So far, so good. It’s been about 2 weeks since I’ve installed the 6. 5 gallon directional feeder on my dock. Love it & the fish are starting to swarm. I’m extremely happy where it is although my original intention was to have it on land by my dock so I wouldn’t lose precious dock space.

I ordered the stakes too but found that the feeder wouldn’t shoot far enough to keep it on land without wasting some of the feed on the shore. I tried to research how far it would shoot but found nothing about that on the website or even on YouTube.

So I’ve wasted the cost of the tripod stakes. Tge solar charger was easy to install and I assume it’s working, but too soon to tell. Very happy overall with the product! Customer service has been great.

We bought this for our son to start hunting on our property. It was easy to set up but if you tried to move it the bottom part of the legs fell of. You have to sections for the legs that you push together to make it tall.

There isn’t any prongs that hold it together so if it is lifted the bottom legs fall down. So if you are by your self you are screwed. The kicker is the lid that goes on top was broken. We had to put a rock on top to hold it down so the squirrels don’t get to it.

We live about 45 min from Cabela’s so it’s not a quick trip to return it. It took a bit for my husband and 20 yr old son to figure out how to set the timer and when you hit the test button you better run LOL it shoots out far, fast and hard OMG I’m still laughing over that.

I’ve tried many different products over the years. 12 years ago I was so impressed after using Trophy Deer Mineral I quit searching. Have been an exclusive Antler King user ever since.

I purchased this product for the first time a few weeks ago. I poured the entire contents of the bag over an old stump and on the ground around it. I placed a trail camera close by and after about 2 days, deer were using the mineral throughout the entire day.

I was skeptical about the product, but it really seems to draw and hold deer. I’m hoping that the minerals in this product will really promote body mass and antler growth with this product. I will be stocking up on this product for the rest of the season!.

What I like about this mineral blend is the high percentage of actual vitamins and minerals and not near as much salt. This leads to noticeable increase in antler growth and health of your deer. The deer cannot get enough of this stuff.

Switched to using Ani Block’s and Mineral Dirt 180 this year after years of using Deer Cane, mainly because I wanted to provide something that had some nutritional value to it. Was skeptical as to how the deer would react to the change but have been pleasantly surprised with the results.

It definitely took longer for the deer to get on to the stuff, but once they did they have stayed on it more consistently than what they did with the deer cane. Based off of my pictures it is very apparent that the deer have preferred the block over the dirt site created with the mineral dirt.

Will most likely just switch to doubling up on blocks as I am sure they leach into the soil to with moisture and what not. Blocks have been lasting me about 2 months.

I’ve been using this block for 3 years. and I’m hooked. They don’t deteriorate in the weather like trophy rock and other salt blocks do. plus this product is only 33% salt!! It’s healthy for my deer, not just an attractant.

I like the fact that they last several months and I always get pictures of deer licking them. For the money, this block give you the most bang for your buck. pun intended.

I have been experimenting with various mineral and protein blocks for several years. Most I’ve tried will indeed attract deer. This one seems particularly good. Deer in my area will seek this out. They even will continue to visit the location and paw out the minerals from the soil long after the block itself is gone.

It’s a great way to steer deer through an area absent good agricultural food sources.

I used the Deer Green Mixture this year on my greenfields in Alabama. Easy to plant and prepare. They have been in the ground for about 6 weeks and are about 8 inches high and lush. Even though it has yet to frost, there is light grazing in the fields but it is not a major problem.

I have used this product before with excellent results. I highly recommend the product and company. Both are great!.

Planted 3 acre food plot of the Deer greens mixture in 2019 late summer here in Michigan for the first time due to baiting being banned. WOW what a success. I wish I could upload before and after pictures on this review.

Never knew I had so many deer around. Sometimes as many as 20 deer on the plot at one time and pictures all hours of the day and night. Buy December the greens of the plot were totally gone and what turnips and radishes the deer couldn’t pull out of the ground they just hollowed them out in the ground.

Some trails leading to the plot were cut into the ground 4″ to 6″ they were like deer highways. Going to try and get 4-5 acres in this year to see if will last longer into our late muzzle loading season.

I planted about a dozen different seed mixtures for my food plots which vary from low bottom good soil to high mountain clay in deep forest. the worst soil. The Hancock Greens exploded and have been outpacing everything else.

My deer herd has been addicted to it and brought in more deer and big bucks from other properties. I tried all the big national brands and a farmer friend turned me on to Hancock and he was so right.

Worked great. till it rained. Filling up the tank on a gravity feeder was a mistake. Pellets got mushy/lumpy/clumpy when wet, weep holes were clogged by mush so rainwater backed up into the tank and ruined a lot of the feed.

Deer then ignored it even after i ‘chopped up the clumps. Gonna either stick with just corn, or just put small amounts in feeder dependent on the weather forecast.

We purchased this to offer a treat to the doe and fawn that frequent our back yard. They seem to enjoy the snack. I thought there was a bit too much powdery substance in the feed but that is natural for a bulk product.

PS the wild turkey’s also enjoyed the food.

While I have tried many different feeds for my land in WV, the deer seem to like this one. I am not sure why and I did not do any other treatments to the feed before adding it to the feeder but it got the attention of the deer no problem.

With that being said, i will continue to use this 50/50 blend.

I have had great success with this product for many seasons. I use it as a mist spray bottle and apply it all over my hunting clothes as a cover scent. Effective enough so a deer walks right up to my ground blind and nuzzles my outstretched hand.

Put the product out. They ate the corn and never were drawn to the product. Never saw another deer for another 10 days. Tried 6years ago and they spooked

Didn’t work at all. Bought 2 bags and tried in 2 separate locations. No deer even came. Waste of time and money.

I put this in my protein feeder and within literally hours (haven’t had feed in there at all at this point) the deer were at it. The only problem I have is the deer like it too much to keep putting it in there for the price.
