Best Fantasy Series For Adults (2024 Updated)

This book it did open a door, to the works of R. A. Salvatore. It features no bard, but a dread crystal shard and great heroes whose names became lore. A rollicking, rip-snorting tale, it spans the breadth of Icewind Dale, if you dare take a look, you’ll get lost in this book, I can guarantee this without fail.

So if you find yourself tucked in a nook, or reposed by a babbling brook, read a tale filled with flagons and wizards, and dragons In short, I do recommend this book!.

Straightforward high fantasy set in the world of Faerun. Good guys consistently good and intelligent, bad guys consistently bad and stupid. The girls don’t get a look-in, really. As I used to write on students’ scripts, “Good work, well written up, but lacks originality”.

I look very forward to reading more of these characters of Forgotten Realms and of Salvatore’s work beyond Dungeons & Dragons. And again if the only thing really holding you back from giving these kinds of books a read is the unnecessary stigma against D&D I hope you will not continue to let it bias you because the stories and characters are truly engaging.

Lots of twists and turns. A little spicy, you genuinely feel for the characters. I loved the first book and this just added more. Looking forward to the next installment. I screamed with joy at the end and was in a haze for a few hours.

This book was incredible! I did not see that ending coming. Sarah J. Maas is brilliant. If you love sci-fi/fantasy/adventure/romance – you will not be disappointed to get this series, or any of Sarah’s books!.

Firstly – the quality of the hardcover is superb. Secondly, the contents of this book had my jaw on the floor and I will NEVER GET OVER IT. Get on the SJM train now, before it leaves the station and you behind.

Although I started reading Maas with ACOTAR and loved it. I can say this is better it takes a while to get into because she’s great at world building and character building but once you know the players and the places you are in.

For life! I’ve never gone through so many emotions and ultimately ugly cried. Read it I promise you will love it.

I just started her series. I finished ACOTAR and was looking for more. This is a beautiful box set and I’m already loving the series. I’m reading them in order instead of the other option.

Brandon Sanderson is by far the best sci-fi/ fantasy novelist I have ever encountered. Elantris was a book I have been meaning to read and I finally purchased it. I am in love with the storyline, characters, and the phenomenal magical qualities which vary throughout each of Sanderson’s series.

I have been looking to start a new epic for ages now, i have gone through many good ones but have been struggling to find something that excites. From the first page this book grips you. You defiantly know its going to not disappoint.

The main characters are likeable and you start rooting for them and wishing a happy ending from the start. The copy of the book was not very great.

I am an avid Robert Jordan fan and I was pretty impressed with Sanderon’s stand-in writing of the latest Wheel of Time. However, Brandon Sanderson is no Robert Jordan. Although he is GOOD at fantasy I would not say he is a master.

I think he excelled at The Gathering Storm simply because Jordan had already laid all the groundwork. He has an interesting story idea in Elantris (and a single book fantasy is refreshing) but he just doesn’t have the character development that is needed to really a hook a reader.

I didn’t find myself much caring about the characters and I didn’t really feel that I knew them. The love story is bland and unispiring and laced kind of clumsily throughout the book. Also, I got a sense that he wrote the book in sections and then attempted to cement the pieces together but it just didn’t quite flow.

I am a spoiled reader. Robert Jordan and Tolkien are hard to match. so take this for what it’s worth but THIS BOOK IS MEDIOCRE FANTASY.

The beginning of a new trilogy by Nora Roberts always makes me happy! Being the first book in the trilogy, background has to be set so the motivations later in the novel make sense. In that respect, the book dragged a bit at first, but as Breen made her way to Ireland with Marco, then on to Talamh alone, the book picked up and the magic that is Nora Roberts took over.

Very enjoyable book, just right for a day long sit in front of the fireplace or wherever your cozy reading place is, to do nothing but immerse yourself in the story.

Nora Roberts is an absolutely amazing writer! Many people say that she is a great romance writer, and I suppose that’s true to a point, But that’s not the case in many of her books. There is action, adventure, mystery, and intrigue as the major driving force in the story.

“Awakening” is one of those books. It makes me hunger for the next book! I know it will be a great book!.

Nora Roberts books are a favourite of mine. Got this book to take on holiday with me. Couldn’t put it down. Only problem is it’s a trilogy, so need to get the second one now and wait for the third to come out in November this year.

Excellent mistborn short stories which fill in many holes and explain mysteries in the main series. Emperor’s soul is brilliant and the stormlight novellas are interesting in their own right. Must have for cosmeret enjoyers.

Brandon Sanderson’s books can be more than enjoyed as standalone works but his literary universe really comes alive from reading across the cosmere collection. I started by reading the Stormlight series and had also read Warbreaker and Edgedancer prior to reading Arcanum Unbounded.

The connections between the standalone Warbreaker and the Stormlight series alone were a delight let alone between Edgedancer (originally released in Arcanum Unbounded) and Warbreaker. If you like Brandon’s work you’ll love this.

I can’t wait for Mistborn to arrive!.

The book largely deals in some backstories relating to the Mistborn, and Stormlight series. I haven’t finished reading it yet, but I already feel like that my understanding of Sanderson’s grand vision has been expanded.

It has also helped to lessen my hunger-pains awaiting for the next Stormlight chapter.

Watched the series on Netflix, decided to try the books. I love them. Better than the show. Loving all the extra details and better explained storyline. Hes a great writer.

Unique fantasy series. Very detailed environments and culture. Well written story based upon a non-standard fantasy. Not your standard good guy fare.

I started playing the video game the end of October before learning that the games tell the story of what happens AFTER the books, which I believe there is five of them. I told my husband he should have led with that! I love male authors because they have a way of getting straight to the point without losing the substance of the story where female authors tend to be a little detail driven and drawn out.

This book follows that straight to the point aspect so you’re given a lot of information in the first few chapters. For anyone who is a fan of the game or loves a good fantasy action drama with rich and enduring characters and relationship [not all of them romantic] I highly recommend this book.

It’s only rated a 4 star because the translation from Polish to English does not always crossover well but the books have definitely solidified my fandom to this world!.

All the books were shipped promptly and arrived on time. As for the books themselves, the story is wonderful. Given that they are a translated story, parts can be a little difficult to understand, but it’s worth it for the characters and plot.

I’ve greatly enjoyed reading them. If you liked the show, I’d suggest reading the books. They offer a more developed view of the world, and it’s an incredible world to explore! If you like the books, check out the game! The game is even more fun than the show! It’s honestly just a full set of wonder! I absolutely adore The Witcher!.

This set is a great place to start to begin reading the Witcher stories, however another book was actually added by the author to technically be a prequel to these. Do your research first and start with that book.

Although technically you don’t have to but it helps. This set is very nice and was the best priced anywhere I could find at the time. BAM got it to me safe and sound and wrapped well but took forever to get it, well over a month.

Stories are fantastic and since there are so many reviews on them I won’t bother, this review is more to the collection being a good deal and a nice have.

Wow what a thrilling start to the series, once again Sarah has written a book which I want to continue finding out what comes next. After everything Celaena had to go through to get where she is, what she has seen in her journey that no 18 year old would of thought to survive.

What happens with the relationships she has built with Dorian, Choal and Nehemia in the upcoming books and what of the Fae and magic which was meant to be destroyed all those years ago? Time to join the journey as the kings champion and what happens amongst them all Truly another magical and nail biting book which I know before the series is out is going to make me feel very emotion possible and have me on my edge of my seat for what comes next.

First off, I might be a bit biased in this review. I’ve been following this series since this book first came out, and have pre-ordered every subsequent book by this author since. This book series has outlasted two friends and stuck with me through colleges problems and mental health issues and always, always helped me stand up again no matter what.

That being said, is this first book a masterpiece? Of course not. It sets up something bigger, and has foreshadowing that lies hidden until you reread it a couple years later, after you’ve read a couple of the other books.

The pros of this book include that, of course, and world building and history that helps you get to know the setting as you read instead of one big info dump near the beginning. Witty dialogue, well-written action, and lush descriptions grace the whole book from beginning to end as rapport is built between the characters and the stakes are driven higher.

I really, really love this book. The downsides are mostly just subjective on my part. This book definitely knows its main audience. It’s unapologetically girly at some points with its descriptions of fancy gowns and adorable puppies, which I don’t dislike but I feel is a bit pandering.

Aside from that our main character, Celaena, is a bit unlikeable at times for more than just flaws in her personality, and it has my most hated young adult trope of all time: LOVE TRIANGLE. I genuinely hate that trope so much.

If I’d read this book just a couple years later than I did, I would have given up simply because of that. However, I’m glad I didn’t. Minor spoiler: the love triangle doesn’t last for many books. Romantic relationships develop and fall apart, just like in the real world.

All in all, I do recommend this series as a whole, but the rest of the books are far better than this one. Stick with this book through the cliches to reach Crown of Midnight, Heir of Fire, and beyond, and you’ll be in for a treat.

This book was incredible! I steered clear of the majority of the hype and reviews so I could have an open mind and unbiased expectations, and so I wouldn’t get any spoilers. I found the book to have incredible character development, stunning plot and world building, and lots of twists and turns! I did a buddy read on this one, so my review is split in to two parts:PART 1:I have to say that I am really loving the book so far.

Maas has an exceptional writing style that offers highly developed characters and intense world building! I know many people have said that the pace of this one is slow, but I am enjoying it. I am being introduced to all the necessary characters.

I am getting all the backstory I need, and I am getting the current plot unfolding at a steady pace. I am also loving the little bits of humor mixed in!I am enjoying the tournament too. I can see why Mask of Shadows by Linsey Miller has been compared to this one.

The tournament is pretty interesting (like Hunger Games meets Reign) and has a few interesting plot twists. Celaena is pretty awesome, and definitely a force to be reckoned with. I find her to be calculating, brave, curious, comical, and dangerous.

I like Prince Dorian and Captain Chaol. Dorian is very rebellious, and Chaol is mysterious and gentlemanly. They are both equally handsome and alluring. The character I feel like I need to expect the most from is curious Princess Nehemia.

I have an awesome feeling about her and I love her already!As of right now, there is nothing I dislike about the book. I am looking forward to finishing it in the next few days! My expectations have been on par so far.

I have enjoyed a good amount of action, a little bit of fantasy (hoping for more), and fantastic, developed characters and writing style. I feel like this book has characteristics from the TV show, Reign, which was one of my favorites!PART 2:I felt like part 2 picked up pace from part 1, in a good way.

We spent part 1 getting a feel for the characters and story, so part 2 held more action. I loved the plot twists and the character surprises! I think we were meant to know from the beginning who was killing off the other champions, so I was okay with the predictability of that.

The character development seemed to continue on through to the end of the book. I still loved Celaena, and was left wondering about her ties to Elena and the Fae. Dorian has really grown on me. I was leaning toward team Chaol at first, but am now back in the middle because Dorian was just so persistent and seductive! I really loved Chaol though, and felt sympathy for him because he tried so hard to be a good guard and do what was right!Lady Kaltain was my hated character.

I think she was meant to be everyone’s hated character, besides Cain and the Duke. She was so conniving and back stabbing!I still found that I loved Nehemia. She had a pretty big secret, and she has proven to be a great friend to Celaena! I was left wondering what role she will play in the next book!I would have to say that part 2 was slightly better than part 1.

Though, part 1 was amazing, part 2 picked up the pace and gave us more action. It also gave us more secrets, more passion, and more betrayal!.

Our Review by LITERAL ADDICTION’s Pack Alpha – Michelle L. Olson: Shadow of Night the second installment of Deborah Harkness’s ALL SOULS TRILOGY was a wonderful pastiche of factual history and entertaining fiction all woven together to create a work of art worthy of any intellectual reader.

Shadow of Night picks up where A Discovery of Witches leaves off though new readers who are jumping in to this book without having enjoyed the debut novel will have no problems catching on. Written in several parts the novel follows Matthew and Diana as they travel back to Matthew’s past in 1590 in search of several things ñ a witch skilled enough to instruct Diana and hopefully give some answers regarding the incongruence of her magic and the complete ëbook of origins’ being the main two.

As they assimilate themselves in Elizabethan times some big secrets are revealed relationships and loyalties are both forged and tested and they undergo the delicate dance of completing their mission without utterly altering the present reality.

It’s very difficult to write a comprehensive review for this book without spoilers so I’ll just keep it surface level and say that Shadow of Night is not a light-hearted quick read (especially not at 584 pages).

It’s a well developed beautifully written and intricate tale built around some incredible factual research and set in a complex yet compelling world of wonder. The characters are well developed and the twisted facts in the fiction had me doing research into the true lives of the individuals Deborah bases her characters on days after finishing the book smiling all the while in acknowledgement of the sheer creative cleverness involved.

So in short LITERAL ADDICTION gives Shadow of Night 4.

I LOVED learning all about Elizabethan England! It was a fantastic sequel to “A Discovery of Witches.” It was very exciting and full of plot twists and character development. I highly recommend it.

I really enjoyed this trilogy, this one was my favorite. I am giving the trilogy as a whole of four stars simply because in some places it felt more like a history lesson than a story. Not that I minded the attention to detail in the history, but it seemed dry to me.

A history buff may love those parts!.

AFTER: Not only explains how Celaena met, or knows of, so many different people all over Erilea, but provides her childhood history which is both fascinating & satisfying. BEFORE: Indubitably make you want to read the Series.

The only downside there I can see is there would less impatience to read the next book due to less anticipation. (i. e. How will Celaena get out of trouble? OR What else can happen?) Not only will ‘Young Adults’ enjoy all books by Sarah J.

Maas, but the young at heart will love them too.

I REALLY ENJOYED Sarah J Maas’ Throne Of Glass Novella collection. We can attribute this to the fact that these five stories READ LIKE A FULL LENGTH BOOK that skipped forward at times but I ENJOYED IT SO MUCH.

I loved getting to know Sam and Arobynn and re-meet the assassin Celaena Sardothien. Let’s break it down story wise: 1) THE ASSASSIN AND THE PIRATE LORD: Reading this story made me wish SO SO BADLY that I had picked this book up before I dove into Empire of Storms last year because I would have LOVED to have met Rolfe and the rest of Skulls Bay in the context I was meant to.

I loved that this story showed us how Celaena had always been someone who fought for the people and I LOVED THE BEGINNING OF SAM’S AND HER RELATIONSHIP. More than anything, I LOVED RE-MEETING THE SASSY ASSASSIN CELAENA BECAUSE I MISSED HER SO MUCH IN THE RECENT BOOK.

2) THE ASSASSIN AND THE HEALER: I’ve pretty much figured while I was reading this book that the “Healer” who this story was about is the character I will meet in Tower Of Dawn, and it makes me so glad that I picked it up.

If we saw Celaena brazen side in the last novella, we were introduced to the one with the kind heart here and I loved it. 3) THE ASSASSIN AND THE DESERT: This was the novella I was MOST excited for because this kept getting mentioned in the series and I was VERY excited to see what Celaena’s training was like, and it was also the novella that disappointed me the most.

It had too little training and action and too much running across the sand and friendship. It didn’t seem like supremely hard training (but then again, what do I know?) and I was sort of waiting for it to be done with.

4) THE ASSASSIN AND THE UNDERWORLD: THIS WAS BY FAR MY FAVOURITE NOVELLA. Celaena is back at Rifthold, a changed Assassin, with Arobynn and Sam and I loved the tensions that arose and the characters we met (hello, Lysandra) and fine new Assassin outfits.

I’m not normally a fan of novellas but The Assassin’s Blade is a great collection of stories bridging the gap of from when Celaena Sardothien was Adarlan’s Assassin to her time in the salt mines. One of the highlights of this book is you can be new to the Throne of Glass series or a veteran fan – there is something in this book for everyone.

The five stories each focus on a different mission Celaena had to undertake for Arobynn Hamel – King of the Assassins. Her assignments take her from the high seas to the depths of the arid desert and back to the capital, Rifthold.

No place is too remote or too dark for Celaena but we get to see that there’s more to Celaena than meets the eye. Her own moral code often conflicts with that of her patron and she finds herself questioning the closest thing she has to a father.

I’ve been a fan of Sarah J Mass’ writing since I first read Throne of Glass. And whilst this collection of novellas is not required to understand and enjoy the books, The Assassin’s Blade is a great addition to the world Maas has created.

Thoughout this collection, Celaena’s growth is evident and she’s one of those characters I would NEVER want to meet but I adore reading her stories. Brave, intelligent and fierce, Celaena gives her all to everything she attempts and lives her life on the edge.

She’s cocky and egotistical but her track record shows she has reason to be. This book introduces some brilliant new characters – including a well dressed pirate lord, a want-to-be healer and a girl who would do anything to get revenge – and they fit perfectly in the world.

I enjoyed reading Celaena’s antics with these people and would love to see them pop up at a later stage in the series. Another lovely thing about these novellas is the romance. Celaena’s involvement with a certain young assassin has been mentioned several times in Throne of Glass and Crown of Midnight but it was brilliant to get to see the relationship unfold from the beginning.

It must have been hard to show a softer side to the legendary Adarlan’s Assassin but Maas managed the task and it felt true to Celaena’s character. I loved this book and am so glad that I got the chance to see where Celaena’s story began.

For fans of the series or those just wanting to read a great high fantasy story with brilliant characters and an assassin like no other – I could not recommend this book more highly. Great writing and engaging stories, this is a book that would appeal to young adults but also older readers too.

Im a voracious reader of fantasy. I honestly think that N. K. Jemisin is the best writer out there right now. My previous tops would have been Sanderson and Rothfuss, but she tops them. Her writing and themes are more mature, but also deliver interesting additions every chapter, and at a depth that already has me wanting to go back and re-read the Broken Earth Trilogy I recently finished.

This isnt middle school fantasy. Theres sex and cruelty and abuse in these novels, theres diverse racial issues, LGBTQ issues, because those things are real and speak to deeper messages about humanity.

If you havent started reading Jemisin you need to start now.

Fabulous book! I love this author. I had a hard time putting the book down. The fantasy worlds she creates are incredible. There are four novels in this book in order of the series.

The work is captivating and readable. Large abstract ideas are put forth in imaginative fashion, stellar world building and characterization.

Actual rating 3. 5 stars. I bought this after reading ‘The Coldest Girl in Coldtown’ – Holly Black’s writing is fun, dark, and she’s great at developing a character; so I was expecting all of that in ‘The Darkest Part of the Forest’ and was not disappointed.

I’m not big on fantasy, but the setting of this novel was in a modern day urban locale, with a small town sharing a forest with Fae Folk. They’ve reached a sort-of pact, and know all of the Fariy Lore.

So, I found it easy to relate to the story, and wasn’t distracted by lengthy world building. The writing style has an omnipresent eye, bucking the trend of a first person narrative, as we follow brother and sister, Ben and Hazel, both who are fascinated (as are much of the town of Farifold) with a beautiful boy in a glass coffin, Snow White-style.

Hazel is warrior child from the get go, she wild and brazen and not afraid of the folk. Imaginary games of being a huntress, despatching the bad Fae becomes a real life duty for Hazel. It’s her secret double life outside of being a regular fun-loving school student.

Likewise, her brother Ben assists in Hazel quests using his ability to entrance all with music, like a Pied Piper, a gift bestowed on him by the Fae. Ben is compassionate and tortured, like every true artist.

Having Ben identify as gay only added delicious layers to his story. Jack is Ben’s best friend (and Changeling – a fairy youngling, replacing a human child and left for the family to raise, however the ruse was discovered and the human baby recovered, though Ben was kept as a punishment.

Looking completely human and identical to human baby Carter, he was raised as a part of the family. ) Jack loves without discrimination and has a foot in both worlds. Of course, Hazel would have a crush on him.

I loved the way his character developed in this story most of all. Severin the horned prince in the glass coffin – and Ben’s love interest still manages to be in the centre of the storyline even though he is asleep.

The stories everyone makes up about who he is, and how he came to be entombed in a magical glass box is fascinating. A surprisingly fast read that is paced well. ‘The Darkest Part of the Forest’ always kept me interested and engaged.

The story dealt out some surprises, but overall, fairly predictable – though that did not detract from my enjoyment. With such a rich array of characters and a fantastical world juxtaposing over our own, it ticked all the poxes for me as an enjoyable weekend read.

I think the only thing that could have made it better was a heavier dose of darkness and menacing tension – then I would be completely satisfied. Though having said that it would have lost that innocent lyrical tone befitting the Fae so well.

Loved the physical presentation of the hardback copy. Deckled edges, mat and embossed dust jacket and beautiful typesetting throughout the interior. And did I mention the stunning cover art?.

Faeries? Check. Subtle fairytale retelling? Check. Awesome, diverse characters? Check.

My heart! Camden how could you? Oh my word…..these are some strong emotions! Fantastic writing! This book was wonderfully written and I can’t wait to read the rest of the series.

The book’s onset is wrapped with mystery hooking me to continue reading. The writing style left dangling questions at the end of each scene, building the anticipation of wanting to know what happens next.

Told in multiple POVs, the secrets of each cast of character makes one wonder who has done it? Flashbacks of encounters with Ben provide a backstory before transitioning back to the present. It provides you with a notion of a motive for getting rid of Ben.

Jess, the main character, harbors a secret, too, running away from her life in London. She’s been through a tough life growing up and have kleptomaniac tendencies, it seems, picking stuff and pocketing it.

What makes her likable is her relentless pursuit of finding her brother, following her instinct regardless of the danger the situation poses. Then there was Ben, the missing party in the entire book, but he was ever-present in everyone’s mind.

The center of everyone’s attention despite having the biggest flaw among everyone. Sophie and the Concierge (yes, she was never given a name), I thought they were similar in many ways with their maternal instinct.

What one would do for their children. In that sense, I think they are likable and relatable. The plot twists were not shocking but entirely unexpected. I pieced the little details provided, and it does make sense.

I was hesitant going into this Lucy Foley book since I didn’t love the Hunting Party. But this one did not disappoint!! This book still followed Foleys typical writing style with its multiple POVs but with a twist.

Instead of trying to figure out who’s dead at the end we know from the beginning who has gone missing and we follow along with the main character Jess as she tries to figure out what happened to her brother, Ben.

If you’re a fan of Lucy Foley I recommend giving this book a read! It was a quick read and it kept me guessing the entire time. I was able to pick up on hints throughout the book, but I never felt 100% sure I knew who was behind what which I really enjoy.

I loved the library of lost and found, and so had high expectations for this. I’m afraid I was quite disappointed, as I found this confused and confusing. Far too many musings of the somewhat deranged characters, and too little present tense action.

No real story, either – at the end I had no idea what had happened!.

Love this author and her stories. Definately for those who like fantasy and especially with dragons and other different creatures. this was a bit slower than the Live ship trilogy but still very good and continues the story onward with new characters.

look forward to both city of and blood of dragons when I can get them at a decent 2nd hand price. never pay full price for a book.

Robin Hobb with her ability to spin the world of the rain wilds makes this book compelling and very addictive. All of her tales from this world are compelling and detailed and build one on the other to make it a welcome retreat from every day life to a world of high fantasy and pure magic.

If there were tickets to go to there for a holiday I would be in! This book of the trilogy leads our characters into the deepest regions of the rain wilds with all the difficulties and desires that go along with this adventure into the unknown.

Will they find Kellsingra the lost city of the dragons or is it just a myth? Will the dragons be up to the challenge or will they die along the way. Anythings possible in the worlds of Robin Hobb, read and enjoy.

I bought this book as I really love this Quartet (so far. ) Robin Hobb is one of the best fantasy writers out there. She’s created many worlds and managed to join a few together. This is the second book of the Rain Wild Chronicles and is a fanstatic read, I could not put it down and read it pretty much in an afternoon.

Dragon Haven follows on from the first book Dragon Keeper and shows what has happened to the characters and their dragons alike. However it is not a book you can just read on its own you do have to read the first, third and await for the fourth book.

Perfect for anyone who has loved Eddings, Fiest and Hobb’s early works.

I liked it, I found the idea and world this book created interesting, proceed to purchase the next two once I was finished. There was only a couple of problems for me reading this, one was it felt like the main female protagonist rambles on a bit too much when describing everything, I admit to skimming some parts because of this.

Secondly, which is a major pet hate for me, there is this almost whiny helpless quality some teenage female characters take on that is hard to tolerate. Some authors in the young adult genre seem to end up writing them like this when trying to portray who knows what trait, but for me having been a female teenager not that long ago with teenage friends, I am hard pressed to find any who act like this.

It just annoys me especially when it is almost the whole book until all of a sudden in the last 6 pages they have learnt a lesson. Luckily though it annoyed me about halfway through with this book it wasn’t enough to put me off.

I am hoping come the second book the main character has grown. I would still recommend this book, not everyone would be annoyed by the same attitudes as me, it has a really interesting world and the society structure was clever.

This one was fairly predictable. I found it entertaining and enjoyed the development of the main character. Overall, it isn’t my favorite but it was worth the read. The story kept me engaged and enticed enough to purchase the last two books in the trilogy.

If you are looking for an easy read that will keep you entertained, this one fits the bill.

I loved the first two books. Author did great building the characters. However, the last book Requim, was not what I expected. Author left you with a lot of un answered questions as to what happens to the main characters.

I wish there were a better ending. Overall I rated a 4 star because 2 out of the 3 books were great.

All books arrived with no damage to the cover or pages. The box the books sit in is also undamaged, super happy about that 😀 Its also way cheaper to buy through mightyape, than buying each book seperatley at a book store, half the price almost.

BUT, keep in mind on all the covers of the books there’s a big red circle saying “Now on NETFLIX”. At first I wasnt worried but when I couldnt peel it off I realised its not a sticker(this isnt shown in any images or stated for this product).

This red dot will forever be present, ruining the cover art. I’m very disheartened but it is what it is. Besides that, I’m a very happy customer and it’s a small price to pay for such a deal $$ ヾ(・ω・ヾ).

I unboxed this item to check for damage because I’ve seen many reviews online showing damage and wanted to know within the returns policy date. The books I have received have a blunt scratch along one side of the box which is quite visible and a sharp scratch down the spine of “The Last Wish” which has torn the clear plastic wrapper and scratched the books spine.

I picked these books up instore and they were packaged correctly so I can only assume somewhere before these books are boxed these books are not looked after very well at all. Not what I would expect from a brand new box set.

Bought this having seen the first series on Netflix and the books had such rave reviews. The product itself is nicely packaged as a boxed set. Each book is relatively short, around 300 pages, read them all in under 2 weeks.

The content is rather disappointing and sadly the whole plot “twist” and ending is given away at the beginning of the 5th novel. Andrzej Sapkowski is no George R. R. Martin or J. R. R Tolkien which is a real shame had such high hopes for this series.

Kaye’s life hangs in the balance. Review: A common theme in some of the other reviews on Goodreads is that people either love or hate this story. On the plus side, I am always intrigued by modern renditions of the tale of Tam Lin.

The elements of the old Childe ballad were there. The characters seemed real, and I found them intriguing. In the minus column, Holly Black tried to make Kaye and her human friends gritty. The effort was unbalanced and often seemed over the top.

The rebellious teenager was overdone. While the characters seemed real, I still had a hard time finding them sympathetic until I was almost halfway through the story. All in all, it was decent urban fantasy, well worth a read.

The story is good. The actual physical copy of this book is not. I knew this was a library copy of this book, but didn’t realize that 1/4 of the pages would be detached from the spine. I can still read the book, but will throw it away when done.

This was slow at the beginning, but it was the introduction of the main character. Kaye is just like any other teenager when she’s not at home. At home she takes care of her drunken mother. She thought she was just a normal teenager, but things start to change after she meets Roiben, a handsome stranger, in the forest.

This book had a bit more romance than what I’m used to, but it was still good.
