This incredible story kept me turning the pages. I flew through the book and barely noticed the passing of time. The constant action both internal and external grabbed my attention. It’s a wonderful coming-of-age story about a bright but sensitive fourteen-year-old girl named Shale who feels misunderstood and isolated from the other students at her school and in her neighborhood.

Judd a boy at her school ruthlessly picks on her and attempts to get her in trouble with the school authorities. At home she feels out-of-place because her mom has remarried and her dad does not have regular contact with her.

Feeling alone and confused she wanders into the woods and finds a seventh dimension. This fascinating land parallels her life at home but takes place in the first century during the days of Jesus Christ a key character in the story.

This beautiful yet violent land forces Shale to face her inner fears and choose a new direction for her life including making choices about her relationship with a handsome young man. Facing dramatic action and spiritual warfare Shale completes her time in the seventh dimension and becomes a stronger woman.

Hi Ebay, I dont mind writing the occasional review but in all honesty, its difficult to have some fun or conjure up any enthusiasm for a couple of second hand, fantasy, paperback books. They are the first two books in a series of five that had been recommended to me.

I bought them (cheaply) to read on the train and then leave in the local charity shop. Having read the first two Im not sure that Ill bother to continue with the next three, theyre a tad same old, same old.

But in fairness what I say is not going to affect the sales of a second hand paperback. Whoever buys it will have done their homework, which I doubt will include reading reviews of second hand books on ebay.

From memory this is about the third or fourth review request out of pushing 2k+ items Ive bought, I think theyve all been on books, and I doubt Ive bought 30 books. If ebay are trying to build up a credible review system, someone isnt asking the right questions about the things your buyers really want to know about.

Eldest is Book 2 in the Inheritance Cycle by the young writer Christopher Paolini. I don’t usually read many books in Fantasy but I have read some recommended by my nieces and have enjoyed them and have not been disappointed in either Eragon or Eldest.

Eldest is a story about humans, dwarves, elves and dragons and magic. The story is about a conflict between them and another evil character. There is a huge amount of imagination, and good development of the characters.

Eldest, the second book of the trilogy, picks up where Eragon. left off. Eragon was injured in the battle for Tronjheim and he is sent with his dragon, Saphira, to the elves in Ellesmera where is he is to heal, learn magic, and train to be a Rider.

He knows another battle with Galbatorix lies in his future. His cousin, Roran, finds he’s lost everything, but tragic circumstances force him into becoming a leader to protect the villagers in Carvahall from the Ra’zac, and he makes discoveries of his own powers.

Christopher Paolini, now 21, continues with his epic and Eldest has received positive reviews. The Philadelphia Inquirer says, “Those who are eagerly anticipating the follow-up will be thrilled with this rich, sophisticated novel.

And to those who have never considered reading a book with something like a dragon on its cover, Paolini may make a believer of you yet. I, for one, can’t wait to find out what happens in book three.

The Shadowglass was an emotional rollercoaster and a perfect book to finish the trilogy. The answers and plot twists that occurred were absolutely wild, as well as heartbreaking. We finally got closure on the relationship between Tea, Fox, Kalen and Kance.

The ending was perfect yet heartbreaking- I’m sad these characters stories have come to an end.

Honestly, pretty good. I got two of the books for this series of the buy 2 get the 3rd free shelf. I would recommend it, and I know my friends probably would too because I know quite a few people reading this series at the moment.

Shadowglass is a very interesting story, i love how the author portrays it.

Bought these Geronimo Kingdom of Fantasy series for a second grader. Finished each book (500 pages) within a few hours. Each book has different story, so you don’t have to read it in order. I highly recommend this series to any young avid readers out there.

This is a great product — in fact it is so goo i wrote this review with it. I highly recommend it. You control the mouse by pointing the remote, it has great, high quality buttons, and it is overall amazing!.

My 4th grader has been collecting these G Stilton books for over one year now. These books are truly a gem of creative writing, excellent grammar, and fantastical images. As an adult, they are one of my favorite books to read to my children because they are so well written.

There is no slang and the characters reflect good values.

My second read through, and still 5 stars! I forgot how amazing these books are. They are such quick reads. The adventure has me on the edge of my seat. I like how a lot of the book dealt with the fallout of winning The Hunger Games – how Katniss feels, what her relationships are like.

The effect killing people has had on her. The games did feel a little rushed, but I was ok with it. I really wouldn’t have liked a whole second book devoted to the games. After finishing, I went straight into Mockingjay.

I think these will always be a top read for me!.

Still reeling from the events of the Hunger Games Katniss has returned home to a life that is very different from the one she left. Gale the best friend (and maybe more) who’s always been there for her is strangely distant and the time they used to spend together sneakily hunting outside the perimeter he now spends in the mines.

Peeta has taken it a step futher and has absolutely nothing to do with her despite everything they went through together in the arena. But worse the unforgiving Capital is watching. None too pleased at having been bested when Katniss and Peeta threatened suicide rather than attempt to kill each other President Snow wants revenge.

The single act which saved the two was an act of defiance and Snow is determined to take control again. To save face he needs Katniss and Peeta to continue playing the fated young lovers game that bought them sympathy during the Games.

Only now small acts of defiance are happening around all of Panem and it looks as if even their little act will make no difference. And now it looks like they’ll have to compete in a new Games event one in which each district must send two Games survivors to a first of its kind special Hunger Games.

But. At first I was a little pissed but I’m pretty sure that was the point. I mean I didn’t think life would magically be wonderful after the end of the first book but I also didn’t think Katniss and Peeta would almost immediately be sent back to (once again) almost certain death.

And it pretty much took Gale out of the running. I had hoped that the love triangle thingy would get played out but instead Katniss and Peeta were sent on the road to tour all the districts after which they were sent off to the killing arena again.

So no Gale. And I kinda love him. The Verdict. Still incredibly awesome and in some ways I liked it even more than The Hunger Games! That’s saying a lot considering that Collins re-used the whole Games bit in this book.

But proving her genius she made it fresh new and oh-so-much better! Less brute strength and dumb luck the new games require a sharp mind just to stay alive in the arena. From a poisonous fog to vicious baboons to one hell of a lightning strike it’s not just their opponents who are out to kill them.

And the end of the book. Oh my. Yeah it’s a cliffhanger but it’s brilliant.

Catching Stars The Hunger Games: Catching Fire catches five stars on reviews all over the internet including this one and this breathtakingly action packed romantic novel deserves it. Suzanne Collins did a fantastic job with the first Hunger Games but just blew that work out of the water when she introduced Catching Fire.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire achieves the best novel in the series so far and should be read. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire addresses two victors of the Hunger Games from the first novel. The novel’s main character Katniss Everdeen who originates from the poorest district District 12 in the country of Panem.

Katniss meets with President Snow who appears very mad at Katniss for breaking the rules of the last Hunger Games. After her and her partner Peeta Mellark finish their ‘Victor Tour’ they are forced to compete in the Quarter Quell.

The Quarter Quell acknowledges a competition every 25 years that brings back the last 24 victors of the Hunger Games to compete in a new Hunger Games. During the Quarter Quell Katniss and Peeta meet many new people that help them through the Games.

Or do they? ‘ There’s no District 12? I repeat. As if saying it will somehow fend off the truth. ‘ This quote was said by Katniss Everdeen. Remember Katniss lives in District 12. ‘ In conclusion Suzanne Collins did a spectacular job on this electrifying action novel to move on in the Hunger Games Trilogy.

She did a rare thing and actually made a sequel that surpassed the first book. If you have read the first Hunger Games book you are doing yourself injustices if you don’t read Catching Fire.

This book has absolutely earned its hype, the “most anticipated” title that it’s being marketed with it is also well-deserved. It’s a rare thing to find a single fantasy story that is original, exciting and full of powerful, intriguing characters, let alone two within one book.

Rielle and Eliana’s stories are connected, yes, but it’s not in an in-your-face obvious way, which serves Furyborn very well. But for a few overlapping elements, they each read as fantastic, nearly standalone stories in their own right, and the way author Claire Legrand deftly weaves them together adds tremendously to the depth and magnitude of the plot.

It’s so interesting to see both sides of the coin in one story – Rielle’s story provides the lead-up to an earthshaking event (which we get tantalizing hints of in the prologue), and Eliana’s story is set in the devastatingly brutal Empire left in the aftermath of Rielle’s time.

In books with multiple POVs, I personally find it nearly impossible to not have a clear favorite, but in Furyborn, both Rielle and Eliana are strong, compelling, and fascinating in their own ways. I truly did not have a favorite, and was only tempted once to skip a chapter and get a peek ahead, and skimming can be a huge problem for me in other books.

Fabulous writing, action, character development, worldbuilding, magic. everything. Fabulous everything.

Thank you to the publisher for providing me a copy to review! Like Children of Blood and Bone, this book was majorly hyped. And it deserved all of it. When this book was first hitting the book scene, I was not really into it.

I am sometimes wary of super-hyped books but then I was, like most things, “Ahh, might as well try it. ” AND I LOVED IT. Though book seems to be like a lot of popular books; you will love it to pieces or you will hate every fiber of its being.

I have noticed a lot of people who are complaining about the size of the book. I have been lately wanting to read some long (about 500 page) fantasy books so I appreciated that fact. For me, Legrand did not add any scenes that I felt were unnecessary as the book is basically two stories together.

I love being thrown into the action and this book starts with Rielle fighting to save her daughter and yes it is very dramatic. You also get to meet Simon, who is the same little boy that Rielle gives her daughter to at the beginning of the book, who is also with Eliana during her time; yes there is a completely logical explanation for this.

Though I do have lots of questions as to how Simon managed that. The Blood Queen I enjoyed Rielle’s POV a little more the Eliana’s which is weird because you know that Rielle dies so it is not like there is any is-she-going-to-die tension.

Fear not, what it lacks in tension of when she is going to die is made up in how does she become queen? The answer to this question is wholely dramatic and I loved it though I definitely was not expecting it.

The Sun Queen Then there is Eliana who I would describe as Adelina Amouteru with the flair of Celena Sardothein. She once jumped off a 3-story building with a red cape because she can. Now tell me Celena wouldn’t do that and I totally would too if I knew that I wouldn’t go splat on the ground.

Now she is also invincible, well not completely as she does get hurt but she heals really fast so basically. And she is so much like Adelina because she is (extremely) morally grey but she does love her family.

I thought that Simon’s remark after the little incident with the army prison was a bit much but it did show Eliana how her actions do affect others. And because the reader knows about the prophecy and the fact that Rielle is called the Blood Queen, it is not hard to put together that Eliana is the Sun Queen.

But she does not know that so it makes it interesting for when she is told. Now, both Rielle and Eliana have bisexual feelings but it is not an in your face “THESE CHARACTERS ARE QUEER!!!!” remark. And that is perfectly okay.

One plot point that I was expecting to be a bit different was how the prophecy was going to play out. I was expecting a little more hush, hush on who was the Bloof Queen and who was the Sun Queen. The supporting characters are a strong part of Furyborn.

I loved Ludivine and Remy! Ludivine is Rielle’s close friend and the betrothed to Audric. She is completely okay Audric and Rielle loving each other because I think that she might be aro/ace but then again there is a whole plot twist thing and that might be the reason why she has no love interests.

And then there is Remy, who is Elianna’s little brother; he is adorable and I love the bond between him and Elianna. In a nutshell, I did really enjoy reading this book it was a lot of fun and I can’t wait to read the next one! I know that I shouldn’t be quoting an ARC but I just love this line.

Listen, I’ve seen this book be a 50/50 hit or mis, it was a miss for me, and I have reasons. It was all pointless repetitive action and the main character thinking “Oh I’m the prophet?” The timeline is set in two times and it comes together because of magic.

Our main character from 1000 years ago is a confused Mary Sue (Rielle) and our one in present time is a whiny angsty teen called Eliana with an obsessed man. At the end of the book, Eliana meets a wraith and the wraith was the most interesting character! Don’t get me started on the sex scenes in Rielle’s time.

Those made me absolutely LAUGH in a bad way. Interesting concept, executed poorly.

“Three little girls fell through a crack in the world. ” When Iris Hollow was seven, she and her two older sisters, Grey and Vivi, were missing for a month. When they returned, they couldn’t remember where they’d been or what happened to them.

Now, a decade later, the past is intruding on their present and their lives will never be the same. “Dark, dangerous things happened around the Hollow sisters. ” I’ve been obsessed with this cover for months and now I’m equally obsessed with the Hollow sisters.

This story is dark but somehow still gorgeous. I both loved and was wary of the intense bond between these sisters. It was a compulsive read and the imagery was almost tangible. I don’t think I’ve ever been more relieved that a book didn’t come with Smell-O-Pages.

I absolutely adored this book and want to gush about each of the sisters, their history, the imagery, the horror and the beauty. However, this is one of those books where the less you know going in the better.

Get to know the Hollows and let their world unfurl around you. Just be prepared for them to get under your skin, whichever way you choose to interpret that. “I am the thing in the dark. ” Content warnings are included on my blog.

Not only is the cover to House of Hollow gorgeous, it is a five star read. A mysterious, haunting, dark urban fairytale that had me hooked! Krystal Sutherland creates a world that is so deceptive and unnerving yet completely intriguing and enchanting.

The story of three sisters with an all encompassing bond that is more than meets the surface. When the ethereal older sister Grey goes missing, how can younger sisters Vivi and Iris not go after her? And how would they ever know the rabbit hole she will lead them down.

And do they really want to know the truth of what happened to them as children? To say this story goes to a dark place, is an understatement. And if you love eerie and atmospheric YA like me, than this is perfect for you.

I could not put this book down and was constantly at the edge of my seat. After I finished my read, all I could think was, when is the Netflix adaptation?.

“I am the thing in the dark. ” Three children disappear under the watchful gaze of their parents only to return a month later changed in unsettling ways and with no memories of what happened. House of Hollow is a richly intoxicating novel that leaves the reader enchanted and unable to put the book down as if it were heavily coated in glue.

The story is a dark and beautifully twisted fairy tale of haunted places and strange ‘doors that lead somewhere else’. All the characters are wonderfully crafted and full to the brim with there own secrets.

Secrets that Krystal Sutherland has fabricated perfectly and answered sparingly to have the reader needing to know more every time they turn the page. Krystal Sutherland is a talented author who has perfected dark fairy tale horror and created a terrifying yet achingly alluring story that grows more and more sinister as time goes on.

I heavily recommend this to anyone who is a fan of stories full of gripping suspense and who can watch horror movies and still sleep at night. It don’t usually read books more than once (because there is just so many of them out there to read) but House of Hollow will definitely be going on my read again pile.

While the ending was perfectly rounded to leave readers satisfied, i still dream that Krystal Sutherland will grace us with a sequel and that one day her tale will become a Netflix original short series that i will, undeniably, watch over and over if it contains anything like the perfection of suspense the book provides.

I love this whole amazing magical series! Tui T Sutherland had managed to make the best books in the world! If you didn’t know this book is based on Qibli’s perspective. You meet his family and understand more about him and his life including his crush on Moon.

(Pretty sad) He helps his friends stop the prophecy, and defeat Darkstalker with a bit of animus magic in a really weird way. (But also kind of cute) (you will see what I mean).

One of the only book series to hook my reluctant readers attention. Action, adventure, mystery, intrigue and of course Dragons! This series has it all!

Thank you for having this plus a box set of the first 5 books too! I know I ordered another one as well in which I will set a review on but this along with the other books I ordered for my son was shipped well and in a perfect sized box to hold them to be received in to our hands.

Intriguing YA scifi series about teenagers on the run because they have been chosen for “unwinding”, a process wherein bodies are dismantled and the organs transplanted to other people. Very creepy, very cool and very clever! Guaranteed you won’t be able to put this book down.

I loved this book! It was good value and the content was compelling. I highly recommend this book to young readers. I only rated it four stars because it could have come faster. I waited pretty long for this book.

Other than that, this product was great!.

My 10 year daughter loves this series. Everybody she talks to, she recommends them. I’m looking forward to reading them to her 6 year old sister. Happy reading!

Christmas gift for my granddaughter who is addicted to this series

I am Azrin, a girl who likes Astronomy, stars, the moon, and outer space. The book is very interesting yet a bit boring, though I still love it! I haven’t finished reading yet but the book is either way very amazing.

It has all of my interests and is very entertaining. I’m only 9 but can still read non-picture books. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes stars, space, and frightening adventure.

As an avid audiobook listener, I was thrilled to have a book different than my norm. The narrator does a good job with voices and tone, however the story drags in points, then gets interesting, and then seems like it’s getting dragged out and could have ended in several different places.

Perhaps if you read the words, and don’t listen via audiobook your experience would be different. It’s not a bad book, just not one I would gift or excitedly tell people about.

I really enjoyed the story of this book, but it was sluggish at times. Trying to understand the rantings and magical talents of a madwoman, the humane actions of a young man who questions age-old traditions, the strange characters who are attached to a misunderstood witch, and the future of a young woman who has no idea of the powers that will shape her future often makes it difficult to follow the story line.

But the story is good, worth reading, and satisfying at the conclusion. As a librarian of 10-12-year-olds, I do warn them that the intricate language and the jumping back and forth from scene to scene is better for higher-level readers.

I read this for hours on end and was so excited to feel so absorbed in a book again. The world setting of the story was refreshing with very unique dragon lore. The story was thrilling and well-paced.

From reading the blurb you can tell that there is an underlying romance, and I often worry about that somewhat ruining stories, but this one really didn’t; it added to it. I read for about 4 hours straight one night because I just needed to know what happened next.

I ordered the next book almost straight after finishing this and I am eagerly waiting for it to arrive in the mail.

One of the most interesting pieces of fantasy I’ve read in ages. it’s brilliant! The dragons are different, which was lots of fun to read about! Some characters were quite amusing (Fruit Bat and Dame Okra!), and the main characters were well written too.

The developing romance is great! It had its ups and downs, like normal. My only problem is how deeply the author got into their religion. Yeah, I get it, they’re all religious and have many saints and such, but it was very difficult to understand it at times and had many many saints named, mind you! But I thoroughly enjoyed it in the end.

This is one of my favorite books that I’ve read recently! The world Hartman created is so believable and it’s easy to be drawn into her immersive storytelling!

Pandemonium was a good read. I had a little trouble at first getting hooked again, but once I found my rhythm in the chapters, I couldn’t put it down for anything. I kind of liked how it switched between the times and now it showed the difference in Lena as she grew, not just in age, but wisdom.

I would definitely recommend the whole Delirium series to anyone who would give me the time of day to do so.

Pandemonium is the second book in the Delirium trilogy and it doesn’t disappoint. Lena is now in the Wilds with no idea what has happened to Alex and she has had to learn to survive on basically nothing.

The chapters skip between a few months earlier and the present day, which is a bit confusing at first but it is effective in telling the story. If you liked Delirium, Pandemonium won’t let you down, though what Lena does might anger and/or sadden some readers.

Also, Lauren Oliver really knows how to keep her readers coming back for more with a very cruel cliffhanger. I’m eagerly awaiting the release of Requiem!.

Within the first fifty pages of this book I was subjected to reading profanity and sexual obscentiites. The teen section of books should not contain things inappropriate for that age level. Respectable adults don’t even need or want to read that kind of language.

At this point I am already invested in the characters and in the story itself. There are a lot of interesting twists in the story and things never go the way you think they will. It keeps it interesting.

This book is a little darker than the first with black magic being introduced into the story. I don’t like that part, but it only occurs a few times in the book. This book also has a lot more violence because the Kings are now going to war.

Some deaths really took me by surprise, but it’s something I am getting used to with this book series. This book has chapters from new character’s perspectives, which I wasn’t expecting, but it is important in the story development.

I am ready to start book 3 and find out what happens next!.

Faerie tales were first written for the aristocracy, many of them with a specific moral intended. Most were also very dark, even grotesque. As time passed by however, and science became more widespread, faerie tales became toned down to tell children.

This tale isn’t nearly on the dark scale as the very early versions of faerie tales, but it isn’t for young children. Has your mom been sleeping with your boyfriend? Did you shave your head and run away when you found out? Ever been high on faerie drugs? Ever been in love with a troll (species-wise)? Val has.

The story is well-written and keeps you interested. It has many intriguing characters and plays on some older references to certain faerie tale aspects (like being allergic to iron). It’s worth the time and money.

I’d rate it one of my favorite books, actually.

Grabs you right from the start. Great series of books, tons of details woven into it. Love it.

There was a random dent in the spine that looked like someone tried to cut it with a knife, and the cover was covered with a sticky substance.

This was a great dark academia novel! This is a novel about the main character, Stevie, attempting to solve Ellingham Academy’s famous mystery. When the Academy first opened, the founder and his family faced a tragic fate.

Their lives, a mystery to many for a generation, fascinated Stevie. Now, that she’s attending the Academy, she’s determined to find out what happened to the founder all those years ago. The main character was smart and interesting.

Her goal was to solve the mystery and she actively does whatever she can to reach her goal. There’s so much intrigue and mystery surrounding the Academy and it almost makes me wish I was studying there as well.

The secondary characters, the locations and all the ambition in this novel were executed perfectly. This novel also has some great portrayals of mental illness/ mental health. Highly recommended.

Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson is a tantalising mystery with interesting, contemporary characters and a fascinating setting. My only criticism about the book is that it’s part of a series (with the mystery not solved until the third book), but the fault is with me for not doing more research!.

A great start to a trilogy. I finished the series in about a week. I DEVOURED these books. They’re kooky, charming, and relatable, all while also going back to the silver age of Hollywood.
