20 Best Fake Tan For Face (2023 Updated)

This stuff is FANTASTIC. I used this for a trip to Disney world because I don’t like to get actual sun damage, but I do like to look a wee bit tan. My skin looked gorgeous – but some notes on use do follow below.

First, exfoliate exfoliate exfoliate. Scrub your a** off. I wish I would have done a better job on and under my chest, as well as on my heels. Make sure to scrub the dry parts of your body like knees and elbows, knuckles and hands really well.

Before you apply, slather your knees and elbows as well as other dry spots like heels with a generous amount of lotion. Let that rest about 10 minutes and don’t rub it off. For best results, use a tanning lotion applicator mitt and rub in circles.

Apply so that you can feel enough lotion to be smoothly applying to your body, but not so much that you can feel your hand slipping around. Rub in as well as you can. Take your time. Patience is key.

Do the larger parts of your body first – legs, arms, and torso – then the smaller parts like face, neck, hands, and feet. YOU WILL NOT SEE ANY COLOR AT ALL. None whatsoever. When this bottle says it takes 2 days for your tan to really appear, it isn’t kidding.

I don’t recommend showering after the first 8 hours at all if you want a really dark tan; just let it go until the next night. When you do wash, make sure you use a scrub or exfoliate lightly on your dry spots and underarms.

However, pretty much immediately (maybe a max of an hour) after applying to your hands and feet, rinse with water and the juice of a lemon on your palms as well as toenails and fingernails using a nail brush.

Trust me when I say you pretty much have to choose between kinda pale fingertips/toes or kinda orange fintertips/toes and the kinda pale ones are way less noticeable. The scent of this stuff is classic self-tanner, to me it’s no more no less gross than the others.

I will say: apply this no more than 2 days before you want to use it, because especially if you’ll be sweating or if your clothes rub you (like my bra did on my underbust area), I do think it only lasts about 3 days.

However, it’s still deserving of a great rating because it’s not at all orange and looks genuinely like a real tan. I did apply lightly and following all the tips above, so I think my results were particularly good as well.

Super duper recommend this stuff for anyone looking for a natural, golden tan without all the sun damage! Not super long lasting but it does work great, look gorgeous, and resemble genuine sun-kissed skin.

I am familiar with a wide variety of sunless tanning products available. I like lotion-style self-tanning products because I find them to be less sticky and easier to apply. I apply them regularly and am familiar with various methods of application.

I would consider myself good at putting the products on. The Bronze Tan self-tanning lotion is easy to work with and has produced noticeable results. I used my hands for the application so that I can have more precision.

The lotion does have a nice smell on application but ends up with a slight self-tanner smell after time passes. Proper skin preparation and even application are very important with this lotion as it will streak or it lays heavy in areas that were covered more than others.

I thought that I applied it evenly everywhere. However, on the inside of my forearm, I had heavy streaking. I also had streaks around my ankles and feet. My skin changed 3 shades darker. It had a slightly orange hue that did not look natural in sunlight.

The tan lasted for five days as described. I then used the shower technique with this lotion (put it on after the shower still wet/damp) I tried this cream directly after a shower without drying off and I had better results.

I did not get as tan but the color was pretty and natural. I did not have streaks as I did before. I will continue to use this lotion dry and update with use.

I have tried several different self tanning lotions in the past and I always ended up with streaks, hands that looked like I used a self tanner, I smelled like I used a self tanner or the tanner just didn’t look natural.

I have finally found the best self tanner out there–all my problems have been solved! I was a little skeptical when I first went to try this–it just looks like lotion–I used it on my face, arms and legs.

I didn’t use a mitt to apply it, just used my hands. After applying I waited 10 minutes for it to dry and then I put on a WHITE t-shirt, I was a little nervous, but had no stains on my shirt. I didn’t really pay attention to how my tan looked until later that night and was so surprised because it just looked so natural.

I didn’t have any streaks or lines, everything just looked so natural. In fact, people are like, you are so tan–did you just go on vacation! This tanner smells pretty good, just has a slight undertone of the tanning smell.

You don’t need a lot to get some good color. Also, the tanner doesn’t flake off or look weird–I plan on applying this weekly, just to keep my color up. Overall, I am very impressed with this lotion and plan on buying more and using it a lot!!.

So far I have used the body tanning lotion, face tanning lotion, tan extend lotion and hand mitt. I haven’t really needed the exfoliator, immediate tan lotion and brush. I have followed what some users have done putting on the lotions at night.

I shave my legs that morning and don’t put any lotions on during the day. I wash my face right before application. So far works great that way. I have used the tanning lotions on my face, chest, back, arms and legs.

The arms and legs last the longest. I wash my face twice a day so that fades more quickly. I have fair skin tone and the dark is a natural tan color for me. I just washed the mitt for the first time.

I used it for a few weeks without washing on both face and body. I didn’t wash my hands very well after using it the first time and it tinted under my fingernails even though I used the mitt. So make sure you wash your nails for sure after application.

I have shaved my legs in between applications and some color seems to stay despite shaving. The color fades naturally. I have noticed a little color transfer on pressure points of clothing such as elastic legs and on shoulders with bra straps.

This is the best sunless tanning product I have found. I like it.

I am in love with this body bronzer! Beautiful color that isn’t orange or shimmery at all. Gel formula is super easy and quick to apply and blend with an applicator mitt. No streaks or weird color build-up on ankles/feet that I’ve experienced with other brands.

I hate using DHA self-tanners, so I’ve been looking for the perfect wash-off bronzer and THIS IS IT. The price is affordable, the color is lovely and it applies evenly and doesn’t transfer. The only downside is that I don’t care for the fragrance, but at least it’s better than that unmistakable self-tanner smell.

This is, hands down, my favorite self tanner. I have been using it for a little over a year, and am never disappointed. I mix it with a light moisturizer, and it’s perfect every time. I have a medium, olive complexion, and the color is beautiful and natural on my skin.

I have tried to use it with a thicker body cream, and that was a streaky fail, so make sure to use something lighter that is easily absorbed. Wash your hands well after application or it will be very obvious.

It goes on and fades wonderfully like a natural tan. I don’t have to mess with constant exfoliation or worry about looking like a spotted leopard at any point with this product. It doesn’t do anything suspect on my knees, elbows, or under my breasts.

Much like I moisturize my body normally, I do sections at a time. If I want a slight tan, I will add 2-3 drops. Darker, I only use four as my skin tone is deeper to begin with, and this makes it a perfect tan.

It is never orange outside of the time I forgot to wash my hands well. Because of that experience, I’m not sure it would work well on very fair skin; it may tan orange. I use the darker drops so I can’t speak to the lighter shade.

I originally received this product as a sample in the lighter shade, but it didn’t show up on my complexion. It is spendy, but I’ve used the same bottle regularly (usually once per week) for an entire year so well worth the cost in the long run.

The tan lasts several days, and is seriously zero fuss. I really can’t say enough nice things about this product. It doesn’t smell during my preferred method of application, it isn’t sticky, it doesn’t stain anything, and it’s never irritated or broke out my skin.

There is absolutely a smell, and to me (as a 31y/o millennial who has been enticed by self-tanners for many moons) it is directly associated to self-tanner. When I am using, I get a little self conscious of hugging my loved ones because I feel the smell is so obvious that they will know that my natural-looking tan is very unnatural (noting here that yes I think it looks quite natural!).

I loved the face version of this so decided to try the body. I love that I can mix it with my own body lotion and it dries a bit faster then foams but that’s where the pros end. I’ve tried it 3 times now, each time applied more thoroughly then the last but always turns out blotchy.

The tan colour itself is not natural looking, definitely has orange tones. This self tanner is not forgiving, you have be extremely careful and diligent and even then blotches are still a possibility.

The tan takes a few hours to develop too so you can’t see if you’ve missed any spots until it’s too late. It last’s 2 days for me, I make sure to prep my skin before hand with a good exfoliator and moisturize every day.

As for the smell, it has a nice scent going on but as it dries it smells like every single self tanner I’ve ever tried, there’s no escaping that lingering fake tan smell, it’s one of the ingredients.

All self tanners try to mask it with their own formulated scent but as it dries you will notice that classic fake tan smell. Would also like to note that I am very fair skinned and didn’t find the medium/dark tan too be too much.

I’ve used a decent amount of self tanners that are oils or gel creams (maybe 4) so I’m pretty familiar with how they should work. This product is my favorite now though since I’ve tried it. It gave me a golden bronze glow that looks natural for me.

It was easy to use in that I was able to see a slight color guard when applying but blended into my skin great. Make sure you use gloves though! It smells great when you are applying and cannot smell the DHA.

It dried quickly for me where I did not feel sticky and was able to get dressed within ten minutes. I went to bed about an hour later and was then able to smell a slight DHA smell that continued until the morning but it was only a slight smell and I was able to sleep with it comfortably.

In the morning after I showered and rinsed, my skin felt so soft and smooth and looked glowy. Make sure to moisturize every day as it prolongs your tan. It fades naturally and not splotchy. I apply once a week as it lasts fairly long on me, but most tanners last a long time for me in general.

If you are fair skinned, this is a great option for you. For me it is dark enough and looks natural. If you are looking for a really dark tan, you might want something else or just do two applications.

The product also did not come off on my sheets which is a huge plus.

Bought this on a whim because the label said it was an award winner. My sister has always liked fake bake so I thought, what the heck i’ll Give it a try. This has a great smell while applying and afterward.

Goes on smooth and even as long as you really rub it in. However, like all other fake tanners I’ve tried, the usual smell does end up surfacing after a few hours. The color was great! I applied at night before bed and showered 7 hours later.

I only applied to my legs due to my upper body being pretty tan now. I want to wear dresses and skirts to work now that it’s summer and this did the trick. I’m currently on day 6 after application and it’s just starting to fade and evenly.

I typically use St. Tropez original mousse and the coconut fake bake does have a richer color and better smell. However, it did take a little longer to dry than the St. Tropez and did not feel as light once applied.

But for the price difference in the two, I will stick with the fake bake!.

As a self-tanner addict, I have tried the likes of every brand out there. Fake Bake has continued to reign supreme in terms of natural looking color for my fair, warm toned skin. I have been using Fake Bake Darker for almost one year and loving it.

I went to go restock and saw this on the shelf next to my tried and true and just had to give it a shot; and I am thrilled I did. This is revolutionary. I struggle with incredibly dry skin all over my body due to a health condition and all self tanners can cling in certain areas, not this one though.

This is the first self tanner I have ever applied that left me feeling better after I put it on than I did before. It is truly moisturizing and the color is stunning. It takes very little product to cover my entire body (although I apply more than needed to avoid streaking).

This has a color guide on it, so I recommend applying it 4 hours after shaving and before bed *aka shower in the am and put this on in the pm*. This is not as dark as the original but looks so much better, last longer, and the results on my skin is worth the longer build up to the color I want.

Let me start out by stating that my skin is beyond pasty, it is the lightest of porcelain and actually kind of see through in areas. My skin is also super dry. In the past I’ve had to tan (in a bed) daily for two weeks (the 1st week is burning) to achieve a tan.

I started using B. Tan by first moisturizing (I showered, shaved, and exfoliated the night before) and adding extra moisturizer to my hands, feet, knees, elbows, and face. I was surprised how soft the mitt was, the thumb area is a nice addition that helped me be more precise in my application.

I started on my legs with one pump per area, smearing it around in circular motions watching to ensure there were no streaks in the guide color. I was impressed with the lack of smell from the product, it was not bothersome at all.

I used a wide foundation brush to apply to my face, neck, and ears. Being so pale I left it on about 1hr 35mins then rinsed it off in the shower with slightly warm water, then patted dry with a towel.

I am not super tan, but I’m no longer see through, paper white. I would say I’m a good 3-4 shades darker. Which is impressive in such a short amount of time. It doesn’t look streaky, or splotchy around my elbows, ankles, or knees.

Also no orange color at all, which is usually a concern with fake tan. I also moisturized again after rinsing. I think in order for someone as pale as me to achieve a deep, dark tan, I would need to apply twice all over, then leave on for several more hours.

My lower arms were a little pigmented before use, and they darkened up more than the rest of my body, so I think if you already have a little pigment to your skin, you will definitely tan faster, and darker with this product.

Over all I am very happy with b. Tan mousse and I will continue to use it. I think slowly adjusting the amount, and times is a good way for my to sort of gradually build up my tan instead of being super pale one day, then walk into work super tan the next day.

I’m very interested in buying more of their products.

I went into the store and bought this. I would recommend always getting your tanners from the store because shipping can suck. I absolutely love this tanner I just got it yesterday, I’ve always used coco and Eve, and loving tan.

This is very comparable I woke up looking dark and Natural. Truth of the matter is you want to sleep in it and then shower it off the next morning DO NOT USE SOAP. This is with any tanner. always put lotion on morning and night and it will fade beautifully.

The product can’t do everything for you, you have to maintain it and take care of your skin by exfoliating before you tan. Please please scrub your skin before reapplying for best results. BUT FOR REAL I’m in college and I love this, it apples so easily and smooth.

This is my first Summer experimenting with self tanning. Started out trying tanologist products with nothing good to say about those results, then I found this stuff after reading many reviews for b.

tan products. With the first application I was amazed! It actually worked and the color looks great very sun kissed bronze! No orange nightmares or overbearing stinky smells! Unlike the other stuff I tried this also is very light and did not seem to clog my pours! Bonus I wasn’t dried out the next day! Definitely recommend this for anyone who is very pale skinned! Leave on minimum 2hrs or more for the darkest shade.

Pro tip: before you apply I highly suggest that you rub a little bit of coconut body oil on ur dry areas instead of lotion, then rinse and pat dry before you go with the self tanner! Use their brand mitt as it’s the best one I’ve used and it’s not cheaply made.

Lasts for a week if you regularly moisturize!! You can add their brand tan drops to darken or prolong your results, I use 5drops in 3 pumps of lotion per body part to prolong. When tan fades out it gets splotchy and I recommend using blue dawn dish soap to help with removing or use a good tan eraser moose like St tropez!.

My skin tone: Light olive – fair in the winter, tan easily in the summer. I have green undertones so most foundations and self-tan looks too orange on me. I use shade 6 in Armani foundation and sometimes even mix it with green colour corrector.

Product pros: – The colour is the most natural I’ve ever used for my skin tone (including other ones from here) – it’s not green but goes nicely with olive undertones – Most tans will say ‘dark’ but actually they just look more intense/rich colour which means it doesn’t look natural outside in daylight as I don’t typically get brighter when I naturally tan… whereas Dark Ash is much more subtle and actually makes my skin look darker like a real tan would and I don’t look orange outside in the daylight.

– It looks SO smooth on my hands. Most tans gather and look orangey around the knuckles (yes I moisturise them), but this looks so natural you wouldn’t be able to tell! – It really does only need 3 hours and carries on developing which means no need to wear over night and sacrifice your sheets – It dries quick so one the first couple of times I used it over night there was almost no transfer onto my sheets Cons: – The cool brown colour guide is gorgeous, but when washed off the tan dries a bit more yellow.

Not orangey yellow tho – I guess more ashy yellow? I’m hoping one day a self-tan will be invented that actually looks brown, rather than bronze or gold! – There is a smell but only when applying – it doesn’t really last after you wash it off so that’s fine – It doesn’t really work on my face and unfortunately their cucumber face spray looks too orange for my skin tone.

Other Minetan products I’ve tried: – Cucumber face mist (Smells great and easy to apply but not natural colour on me – Olive (This was okay but not as natural on me) – Violet (I doubted this would be the right shade based on the pics and concept.

but I ordered it because they said it was best for olive tones – should’ve trusted my instincts as it was the most orange on me I’ve tried that looks too intense in daylight) – Double Dark (This was described as cool brown but sadly wasn’t – found it less natural than Dark Ash for me).

First, the application is fine, it’s a wet formula and goes on well. The smell however is awful, not just while it’s on, but for 48 hours and two showers later bad. I actually felt the need to apologize to people for how I smelled.

My husband said it was disgusting. I have tried about 15 different self tanners for reference so definitely not a newbie. I had to put the color on two days in a row to get a tan, and then even now I’m not very tanned, hence the low rating.

If I’m gonna smell the product should at least make me dark, and this fell very very short!!! I’m impressed with how natural it looks on hands and feet, and the color is at least a good color not orange, but if you want a dark tan, this is not for you.

I also don’t want to bother with a self tanner that requires two applications for little payoff. I’m truly disappointed. I also purchased the ash one and I am hoping it’s better for color depth, though now I haven’t the highest hopes.

I also ordered the coconut water one almost 3 weeks ago and it is lost in the mail with no communication from the company on what they are going to do to rectify and ensure I receive my product. Let’s hope the other products are better.

I highly recommend to try it ! It smells of coconut , believe it or not the after tan smell is still vwry pleasant , i have gone with Bondi Sands as the most popular tan going but i honeatly prefer the colour of this tan way more , it is so smooth to apply , blends in so easily its not cakey at all , i find Bondi Sands a bit smoodgey if your skin is not preped well and sometimes you may think you done a good job by preping but then u see a patch that is so hard to blend out because it has soaked into your skin so fast but still has a wet feeling to it.

I DO NOT find anything like that with this tan mousse at all , i have used this on exfoileted and super moisturised skin and i have used this on just a simple shaved and washed skin and it rubbed in so evenly still.

Less hassle, fast , perfect smell, natural color and honestly long lasting ! I have worn tight fitted sandala and clothes and never gotten a sweat patch unlike other tans out there ! Try it , its the next best and auper affordable tan out here.

If its not dark enough as you though it be , its easy to build it up in another layer or 2 ! For the price is AMAZING summer glow.

My main purpose in buying this was to supplement the tanning to my face and my hands, as those can be kind of tricky to tan at times. I would suggest that you wrap your hair to avoid your hair turning orange.

And don’t forget to wipe off your eyebrows after spraying your face. The other thing that I would suggest is using a dry brush to spread out the tanning water evenly. See the Kabuki Tanner brush. This stuff feels like water but it is truly tanning water.

And watch out for skin tags or moles as they will also turn darker. Wash those off with plain water. I have found out that you can use this tanning water on other areas of your body like your arms and chest and legs.

Dudes, this is the best sunless tanner I’ve ever used. I’m a fair skinned 33 yr old. This year I’ve been outdoors a lot and my upper body, face and legs are very tanned naturally. But I was trying to tan the middle of my body with frustration.

My belly, chest, bum just wouldn’t tan past the lightest tan ever. So I gave up and started hunting for a sunless tanner I could use to even up my tan. I found this and loved that it was a spray and clear.

But I didn’t have high hopes. I’ve now used it for a week. I don’t have ANY splotches, it color MATCHES my real tan and it didn’t leave a single mark on my towels, house coat or bed. I did get a tanner brush form the dollarstore to make sure when I sprayed the tanner on it was rubbed in well with a brush.

I am now a tan line free even coloured goddess and it looks great. I’m a lifer now. Now for best results new tanners make sure you do the following- shower before use and exfoliate your entire body and moisturize after! This gives you a perfect canvas.

Spray this stuff and blend it in with a makeup brush or tanner brush. I just use a makeup brush. Let it soak up and don’t put anything tight or rubby on for a bit best if you wear something soft, lose and non abrasive over night.

Then boom! After that exfoliated your body every couple days to allow for an even fade and touch up as needed! This is a gradual tanner for it took 2/3 times to match my super tanned areas.

Repeat user of this lotion self tanner. Leaves my skin feeling moisturized after vs the dry feel with foam. Doesn’t leave streaks unless you leave a thick layer of lotion somewhere. Even have used on my face and back with no acne issues.

Tan luxe broke me out like crazy, didn’t last, and I didn’t love the color. It’s greasy and it’s overrated. I purchased this around the same time. the application is amazing! Especially for lazy girls lol.

I absolutely love these and now have them on repeat order. I am a fake tan devotee and have tried so many. I always find facial fake tans are really drying and can be streaky. These are a game changer.

They do what they say, leave a glow to the skin with a nice hint of tan. This take foundation over the top really well and then a slight touch of bronzer for a really healthy look. I am naturally pale and have uneven skin tone and these have been great.

I have read reviews that they smell, they do when first removed from the packet, but they don’t leave a lasting smell on the skin unlike some other tanning products. These are great, they work, no nasty ingredients, good for my sensitive, acne prone skin. BUT – there’s a huge caveat. I cannot use these every day, or really any more than once a week, because they have a strong AHA content.

I’m already using Mandelic Acid, Salicylic acid, retinol, and benzoyl peroxide to control my adult acne. When I tried to use these every day last week to get my desired tan shade, which I did, I seriously overstripped my skin and caused pretty bad sensitization and breakouts.

I’ll keep using these sparingly in the future, but keep in mind that one pad isn’t going to make you bronze, so I feel kind of in a catch-22 there.

So good for super pale skin. It doesn’t leave me orange, just takes me from porcelain white to light. Super realistic & you can add layers to get darker. It doesn’t smell like most self tans. It has a light almost sweet smell.

Even though I hate artificial fragrance, I don’t mind this. For reference, the smell of Suntegrity’s self tan is almost unbearable for me. Absolutely recommend although I think you could go through it very fast if using on the body.

Amazing product! I have tried so many self tan products usually resulting in an itchy reaction. This product not only is super gentle but give great even colour results. Virtually no odour and smells more like body lotion than self tan.

This is the ONLY and BEST self tanner ive ever used. I was using the venetian for years but it was always a little too cool for my skin so i switched to amber sun and it matches seamlessly. Apply with a dry makeup sponge and pat all over until its even – and suprisingly it will even work on top of ur moistener.

No orange no streaks, just flawless olour. Overall hands down the best self tanner.

I purchased this product thinking it was the traditional tan in a can and it isnt. Norvell is a product that Ive been using for years in and out of the salon. This product needs to be used with a make-up sponge to ensure evenness.

I recommend looking at a YouTube video for instructions.

I’ve use other less expensive brands but decided to try this since it is specific for face and touch up. The sprayer did not work at all. Haven’t even gotten to try the product. Save your money, buy the cheaper brands.

I love this! The bottle recommends applying it 3 days in a row and then once a week or as needed. I prefer a darker tan so I apply it more frequently. I like the color and the tan comes out very even (I apply it on top of moisturizer to make sure blending is easy).

I took away one star because I really do not care for the scent. It does not smell like tanner, if that’s what you’re thinking. It’s smells a little like cloves or patchouli. ? Yuck, but the coordinating coconut water-based foam smells absolutely amazing.

I use that sometimes too.

This is the first skin bronzing product I had ever used and I must say it was a good choice. I use my bare hands on putting it on, just squeezing it in my hand rubbed it directly on my skin. I was surprised to see that it had a beautiful Shimmer to it and at first it wasn’t very noticeable and then it leaves a perfect light bronze to my skin and I was happy about that.

So the more you use it the darker the bronze will get and I found that it applies quite evenly even with my bare hands. Over time when it started to fade it was hard to notice which was great because I was scared about the embarrassment of when the bronzer fades being noticed as it starts to wear off.

I heard happens when using this type of product but I did not have to face that.

I have used Loreal Sublime lotion in the past to tan and even out areas that the sun wouldn’t and there was no color difference whatsoever. I decided to try the serum and see how it does. After the 1st use, I had a peachy/bronzish color.

I will caution that if you have dry areas or razor burn to moisturize them well before applying and rub in completely. Every review I have read recommends this and I agree. I had one streak from my knee to mid-shin because I had just shaved and had razor burn which makes skin dry and itchy and didn’t apply moisturizer.

After the 2nd use, I had a more golden tan all over. No streaks anywhere (except the prior one which was lighter because the rest of my skin was darkening). I will be very excited to see what tomorrow brings after this 3rd application.

Right now, the color is a beautiful golden tan, just like what I get with the sun or the tanning bed. The only drawback so far is that after the 1st use on my face I had a slightly orange tint in spots.

It wasn’t that noticeable and a little bronzer blush covered it. It was gone after the 2nd use.

Iv been a model and beauty influencer for years and I often receive products from companies but rarely ever end up using them. But I must say I was super impressed with the sunlabs brand. I had a bikini photo shoot and had uneven tan lines from the summer I applied the lotion on my white areas with the mitt and it blended in perfectly! You literally could see no difference between my natural tan an the fake tan! Since then it’s been my go to sunless tanner.

Even my photographers comment on how my fake tan is not orange like a lot of other models they shoot. It last me about a week with just one application and it smells great I strongly recommend this product.

I have tried so so many different tanning products because I have really pale skin and this is the best product I have tried! Not only is it not streaky, it is so easy to apply especially when you use the glove and there is no odor.

I have really oily skin too and this makes me feel hydrated instead of feeling oily. I definitely recommend!.

Tanning impaired- this is made for us! I am the queen on the struggle bus for fake tanning. I get those black dots that look like blackheads no matter how I prep, I have almost translucent skin I’m so pale to begin with, along with things like vericose veins on legs.

I also have medical devices like a feeding tube and port on my chest that makes regular fake tanning really difficult to blend around and not look crazy. Plus undertones when your very fair and very neutral is hard to find the perfect one.

So, I just got back from Vegas and I took this and I bought the Bali body express tan which I didn’t even end up using. The tanologist I mix with a little bit of BumBum cream to make it a bit less dark.

It almost soaks into skin like a stain. But it gives an airbrush effect to skin but looks so real and natural like I’m actually tan. I wore this only on my legs my entire trip, even sitting by the pool and getting misted and it held up so well with sweating like crazy in 110degreeF heat.

I love that you can just wash it off with soap and water tho. But if you let it fully dry the transfer is almost non existent. I was sitting on white towels, sweating and no transfer. I still wouldn’t trust anything near white clothes too much.

But this is beautiful. You need it. For us who don’t have the time to invest in prep, waiting for tan to develop, smelling like a burnt biscuit ( no gross smell !! Yay) it’s immediate and customizable in shade.

Can definitely build the colors a bit or sheer it out like I do with lotion. There’s no big ugly glitters in it but a slight glow. It’s still a satin skin like finish in my opinion. But that you can also alter with whatever you mix with it if you so choose.

The only thing that took me a minute to get ahold of was when you first apply it, the pigment soaks into skin fast. So I’d still apply it like any other fake tan , quickly, with a mit. Or like myself I just wore a medical glove.

I love this so much. Gives me confidence to actually show my legs for the first time in years.

When I first tried it I absolutely hated it. It dried way too quickly, stained my hands, and wouldn’t blend!! But I was determined to make it look amazing and I figured out the “code”. Btw, if you’re not very pale (I’m in the shade Pearl in 24h Fresh Wear foundation), you’ll either have to use a lot of this to achieve a nice, medium tan.

Otherwise, it adds a splendid glow and evens your natural skin tone. 1. Do NOT use your hands, instead use a tanning mitt. There’s a double sided tanning mitt that Ulta sells that’s perfect for this.

2. Put a dab of your favourite lotion or sun cream as well as a dab of this bronzer onto the mitt. 3. Apply to small areas first working yourself up from your bottom to the top. For example, I started with my ankles, calves, and shins instead of trying to spread this all over my whole leg.

The lotion and bronzer should mix nicely together and blend, and just keep rubbing it in to achieve evenness. 4. Make sure you’re completely dry before putting on any clothes. Applying a full body application took me about 20 mins, and covering just my legs, arms, chest and neck took me about 10 mins.

Of course, you’re going to need to experiment with the right lotion/sun cream to bronzer ratios, but once you’ve figured it out, it will be well worth it!.

I’m really liking this product! This is great for when your tan starts to fade or become uneven. Also like a lot of other people my chest doesn’t seem to get as dark and it fades more quickly, this evens it out nicely for the day.

This is not a gradual tanner or anything like that, it’s basically a body makeup. It washes off when you shower. I get why there are some negative reviews on this guy, I wouldn’t like to use it by itself.

I gave it a try just to see how it would work alone, very hard to blend, didn’t go very far, and splotchy. But I already knew I was going to use it a different way based on the reviews here! I apply it using gloves so I don’t get it on my hands, and I mix it equal parts with my body lotion and rub it in quickly to the areas that just need a touch up (usually my chest, neck, tops of my shoulders) and it dries quickly but not as quickly and unevenly as alone.

It has a great smell! It also dries completely with no film or residue feeling. The color is great as well and blends well with my self tanner. I will repurchase but I can see this lasting me quite awhile!.

This stuff is amazing! Smells amazing, feels amazing, and looks amazing. I’m super pale and didn’t want anything too intense; this was the perfect glow! And with ingredients I don’t need to be concerned about.

Definitely a win in my book! I used a tanning mitt for streak-free application.

This is the first time I’ve used a natural sunless tanner. Maybe my expectations were too high, but I was disappointed. I applied per directions on the website but the coverage was still less than stellar.

I had streaks on my arms and legs. The smell of the product is fairly innocuous in the bottle but once it dries on your skin it smells like conventional sunless tanner which I’m not a fan of. The color is nice.

I have fair to light skin and I ordered the #2 tanner. I’ll continue to use this product, but I won’t purchase it again.

This is by far the BEST self tanner I’ve ever used. It smells like yummy chocolate. And I have the dark one. I’m caucasian with olive tones skin and this makes me look like I’ve been on vacation for a week after only 1 use.

It’s easy to apply and you will have a beautiful chocolate golden tan! Love it!.

I was really excited to try this fake tan, I’m very pale so I wear fake tan almost every day and I’ve tried them all, and I mean all of the fake tans out there. Sadly this one did not meet the expectations, so one of the first things I noticed was the packaging – ABSOLUTELY LOVELY! It looks and feels luxurious but not so much that I can see they’ve obviously just spent allot on the packaging instead of the product if that makes sense.

Once I opened the box, first thing I picked up was the mit and brush, it felt great, very high quality and super soft, which is great but it’s nothing I can’t buy off Amazon for half the price. Then I got to the tan… it was tiny.

Now I understand that allot of work has went into this product and I appreciate that but sadly I just can’t justify spending £50 on such a tiny amount of tan when I can buy a bottle of st moritz for £5 which has double the amazing of tan in it.

Like I say, I understand that this product has had a lot of research and science put into it to help keep us moisturised, find the right shade, not go patchy etc etc but I diddnt notice the difference between my st Moritz and this ilmakiage tan….

This tan wasn’t very dark, even though I selected I wanted the darkest tone possible. It was a bit more orange than I thought it would be considering they state there’s no orange tones…. It diddnt last 7 days at all, i left it on overnight and washed it off in the morning and I was shocked at how pale I was, it had came straight off without me even trying, I diddnt scrub or anything! It dried patchy on my face which was disappointing considering I don’t have dry any dry skin and no other tan has done that to my face.

I really wanted this tan to be my saving grace, I really did nice why I was willing to pay such a steep price, but sadly the product just isn’t worth it 🙁 I would price it more around the £20. I bought a similar bundle from coco and eve for £60 and I got a great amount of product that lasted at least a few days, A tan bag, a tan brush, a mit, and an exfoliator, and a discount code for my next purchase.

Which I though was good value! So you can see why I can’t really justify this high price of £50 🙁 EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT – everyone’s skin is different so this tan may be perfect for you, you might aswell give it a go with their 60 day return policy.

Lol as my title says it’s definitely the best self Tanner I’ve tried & I’ve tried MANY. PROS: – I found it came out very evenly, no streaks – easy application – dries practically immediately – unlike others, if you put it on and then go to sleep you won’t be all sticky or wake up with random white hand prints left on yourself lol – you can put clothes on shortly after applying it and they won’t turn orange/brown – smells great – face brush is amazing & my face with some others tends to look super weird the next day with dry spots & ends up rly dark over any blemishes but I find this one didn’t do that & actually moisturized my face – I used the face brush and brushed over my hands and they looked normal!!! Normally with other tanners I just use the mitt and I leave my hands for the most part otherwise they look pure orange … so instead they end up being super white and there’s a clear distinction between where I did and didn’t put tanner.

Not with il makiage! CONS: – I don’t see any option to simply buy the bottle without the glove/brush. Would be nice for those wanting to repurchase – there is only one shade which I’m confused about because it did a whole assessment prior with photos to help match the colour but if there’s only one shade then I’m not sure why that was needed – I personally did not find it as dark as I would prefer Overall great product, I normally don’t spend this much on self-tanner but if there was a darker shade option I’d 100% be hooked for life lol.

If you like a more natural tan look this definitely does it! Plus you can reapply everyday or every few days to build up the tan to a darker colour but I don’t imagine the bottle would last more than a month.

Hope more shades are coming soon but I think I may give it another try with building up the tan & see what results I get! Really love this product and I’ve used many other mousse self-tanners as well as drops that go into cream, none compare to this.

PROS: – No smell (after you rinse off). Just like almost ALL other self tanners, the timeframe from when you put it on until the first time you rinse, it has a self tanner-ish smell. You only have to wait 3 hours to rinse so I can stand a little smell for that small timeframe.

– Goes on evenly with marginal room for error. As long as you use the “tint” of the foam as a guide, you’ll have little to no areas of unevenness and it’s very forgiving even if you miss a spot. – It’s NOT orange (after you rinse).

I read the reviews before trying and there were several that reported they felt like they looked orange but I’m guessing these people put it on and didn’t rinse it off and that’s when they felt “orange.

” It does look orange for those first few hours until you rinse BUT after you rinse, a sun kissed golden brown color remains (the more product you put on, the darker this will be). – It fades seamlessly with no patchy areas.

And I’m not one who exfoliates before usage (which apparently helps decrease splotchy fading) – The mit and kubuki brush are great for application (although you do not need to replace each time you order a new bottle) CONS: – Amount of product needed to maintain color is quite a lot.

I don’t think one bottle would last me a month or maybe it would, but no more than a month. This is using it up to 2 times per week. If this product was less expensive, this would not be such a negative.

– Cost. It’s expensive and on the higher end of expensive, when it comes to self tanning products. In addition, you cannot purchase the foam by itself but must purchase the kit (that includes the mit and kubuki brush).

Having to purchase the kit obviously makes it more expensive and the mit and kubuki brush do not need to be replaced that frequently. With current state of our economy , a LOT of people will not be able to afford this product regularly.

These are my thoughts based on my experience with the 85/66 tanning foam.

I’ve tried many self-Tanners. And it’s hard to find that “Right Fit” of scent, look and last ability. I saw so many great reviews for this! And I was excited to try it! For me though, I’m not a fan of the scent.

( for reference, I like Tanwise for their scent better as well as look, Banana Boat USED to be my go-too before they made it white instead of the natural looking tan) so! After trying this though, the scent is way too much.

To me, it’s a burnt citrusy smell. If that doesn’t bother you, then, you might like it! As far as the color goes, it’s a lighter tan, how’s on smoothly. But for me, I can’t get past that initial burnt Orange peel scent.

( I’m more of a Vanilla/ Cocoa Butter girl) But if yiu like citrus! I’m sure you’ll enjoy this!.

I like this self tanning lotion and have purchased it twice. It has a nice color when applying so that you have instant bronze colir and can see any streaks or areas you need to blend better. I don’t like the smell of the lotion but the smell doesn’t last.

I didn’t use it my face since I have face drops. The lotion isn’t sticky or tacky and it didn’t transfer on anything.

I never write reviews but this product was so worth it! I’m EXTREMELY pale, I’m convinced I have no melonin in my skin at all, I cant tan in the sun or beds. This product was a miracle for an upcoming wedding.

Not orange, not streaky. Some spots may be a little brassy at first but washes off in the shower leaving a nice golden hue. First I exfoliated and shaved, waited an hour for my pores to close and then applied the lotion as directed in circular motions with the gloves on.

My skin is on the dryer side, and I have “strawberry dots” on my upper legs so I was worried this wouldnt work like many other products but it DID! I’m so happy. The smell at first is strong but over night it goes away! I only did my first coat in the PM as recommended and I still love the color already.

I will be applying my second coat tonight. Definitely make sure to apply lotion on your feet, that’s the only place it came out a little weird but its fixable. Product is a little oily at first but your skin soaks it up.

10/10 I would recommend to anyone who has trouble tanning and is really pale and afraid to use self tanners.

First, the product itself works fine. Make sure and wash your hands after applying and have a friend help because it’s a liquid spray that doesn’t spray upside down. This makes it hard to apply and spread in certain areas.

Because it’s a liquid spray, the nozzle is a pump nozzle that clogs easily. Be sure to clean out. Because it’s a self-tanner, the label on the bottle wears off and the bottle has become very slippery.

This makes applying the already difficult to apply liquid spray even more difficult. I have continued to use it because I haven’t gotten burnt (I work outside all day) and it was $38. I won’t be purchasing again though.

The Play antioxidant is much easier to apply and use.

I was really excited to see a self tanning product that also provides sunscreen protection. This comes as a “spray,” but the very first time I tried it, the product squirted out a little bit, then clogged the sprayer.

It is really runny. What I ended up doing to salvage my pricey product was pry the lid and sprayer off, then pour the product into my hand and rub it on. I have to be really careful or it drips all over the place.

It would probably be better packaged in a tube that you squeeze out. It does result in a natural tan, and does work well as a sunscreen.

I don’t write reviews, but I wanted to say: This product is awesome! I have tried fake tanners in the past and they result in looking like you have an orange layer of dirt on your face. This one is so gradual that at first I thought it wasn’t working.

I decided to keep trying for a few more days. After four or five days I looked in the mirror and thought “Oh cool, somehow my face is tan! But when did I go in the sun. ?” It is so natural looking that I didn’t believe it was the bottle!! I will say, it does have that classic fake tanner smell which I do not like, but blessedly it is much fainter than other brands I’ve tried, and it only really smells that way in hours three and four after application.

I recommended this to my friend for her wedding! Great product : -).
