20 Best Fake Grass For Dogs (2023 Updated)

Buying synthetic grass online isnt easy. I like to feel the grass and look at the blades to see if its really realistic. Because of COVID, I just had to take a chance with this product. PRO: its very thick and sturdy.

I didnt have to lay anything down before laying this grass down. I didnt use grass staples either. Its stayed in place well for over 2 months. We get tornadoes a lot so this is great. There are so many types of real grass so its hard to say which type this is supposed to resemble.

I just wanted soft grass/rug for my kids playground. This works wonderfully and its budget friendly considering the fact that extra materials were not needed.

I actually bought this product about awhile back just to have at my sisters house for my small dogs. This worked amazing for my dogs and I could not find this for the longest to order for my house now.

I ended up buying a different brand and my dogs refuse to use it so now that I have found this one I will be ordering it again in a bigger size. For those wondering it has been 3 years since I bought this originally and my sister still has it, and it still has it’s fluffiness and has not faded.

My dogs still use it when I go to her house.

I got this strictly for my HD power sled push and pull sessions. It will do the job but I did notice immediately rolling it out that the cutting of this thing was either sloppy or its already unraveling on the outsides.

Long strings or whatever mesh is under it is what is sticky out. Honestly they look like the grass you put in an Easter basket. I don’t think I would recommend this size blade for anything aesthetic.

Kids play area, working out, dogs potty pad. its perfect and inexpensive compared to the other 33 ft x 3 ft artificial turf. I love the one I returned , but it was only 13 ft long. The blade was 1 1/4 in and thick , lush looking, heavier.

Very expensive for a 33 ft piece though. I opted for cheap. This blade is like 1/8 or 1/4 of an inch.

We live in a townhouse. Our backyard is a patio with a small dirt flower bed where our pup prefers to “go”. I wanted an alternative spot for her on rainy days. I bought this with that purpose in mind.

I only own the replacement grass, not the full “potty loo”. It has worked like a champ. She uses it with no problem. We keep it outside and it seems to keep up well in AZ heat and temps. Tue combo of UV and natural rain fall seems to clean it fine after occasional use.

Some things to note: our pup was already potty-ing on the wood patio where we placed the fake grass. She was also raised to potty on grass. Both of these worked to our advantage. She required no training to start using it as needed.

This whole system is awesome, easy, and, best of all, my dogs use it when I have to be gone for a long time! They are outside potty trained, but when I can’t be back in time they use it!! It is great and keeps odors at a minimum too!.

The overall petloo systems works pretty well but the fake grass they use is terrible quality. It begins to fall apart immediately upon opening and now little green shreds allover my floor are a constant.

I will be looking for better quality grass elsewhere.

Does the job. Not very plush maybe a step up in durability from the outdoor carpet turf. For a dollar more a sqft you can get a far more superior product.

This is fantastic artificial turf. It’s durable, very life like, and worth the price. We have a 5’x5’ piece in our 40’ dog run, and this square is a favorite for our pet. Highly recommended.

I’d trained my 6 month old puppy to potty inside on potty pads (with relative success), but she seemed reluctant to poo outside. Knowing we’ll be going to places where the dog relief area is astroturf, I got this in the hopes she’d get more comfortable going on fake *and* real grass.

And it worked! She now potties anywhere except solid dirt, and she really took to this patch without much coaxing. It’s easy to clean and pick up poo from, and amazingly she doesn’t pull the grass mat off the frame (my biggest concern, initially).

In fact, aside from chewing some of the fake grass bits now and then, she’s only ever using it to potty (daily), which is double impressive to me.

I am very happy with this potty tray with the exception that I am disappointed that you don’t sell replacement grass for this. I should have checked before I ordered but I did see you had grass for sale before and I had ordered some for my other potty tray.

I just hope you get a size and type that will fit this type of tray. I choose this potty tray because it had a drawer which I like. Then I looked to see about ordering grass and asked the question online and that’s when I received the answer that no you did not sell replacement and since I had just received it but my dog had used it I Didn’t ask to return it.

Wish I could return this and get my money back. Even if you clean this product after everytime your dog or puppy uses it, it will still retain an oder. I had high hopes for this, but it was too expense, and too much upkeep.

I will be going back to regular disposable potty pads, and I’d recommend the same to you.

My 13 year old Cavalier goes out to the back porch to pee but won’t do the stairs down to the yard anymore. I bought this hoping for a more attractive solution to puppy pads. The cat sleeps on it but the dog won’t pee on it.

It was worth a try. Maybe your dog will use it?.

I live in an apartment on the third floor with no elevator in Maryland where we get a taste of every season. I got a puppy (springer spaniel, about 4 months old now, just over 20lbs) and started searching for something like this.

Found artificial grass/turf type pads on Amazon that were small and worked great but the clean up is gross and it’s a constant upkeep. Doggielawn was perfect. My puppy took to it immediately just like she was going outside and she loves the addition of grass on my deck since there’s no backyard.

I have two of the XL trays and it was an amazing investment. Grass lasts a while too. Ideal for the snow and very cold, the blistering heat, the rain, and for working from home with a puppy who needs to go out all the time, I can just open the deck door and she goes right to them.

You of course won’t deprive your dogs of walks but this is great for the scenarios above and similar scenarios. I also liked that I could get grass that was more local to my area and save money that way.

The thought is there, but still needs a lot of tweaking. First off the tray you have to buy with it is so expensive for what you actually get. Cheap plastic. Secondly you aren’t supposed to let it get wet, which I understand but for my situation it is unavoidable.

My lawn got soaked and I was greeted with the most foul smell. Even after praying solution to help it still reeked. When you go to change out the lawn, it is the most disgusting process, and they tray is left with water and pee and is impossible to clean up.

I have only had my lawn for a little over a week and already have a new one on the way. I am very apprehensive to lay it out in fear that it is going to rain again. And again I can’t just pick it up and move it inside to shield from rain.

Doggie lawn should offer some sort of cover to help with this issue because clearly my homemade version just made everything worse. I am still looking for solutions and open to options, but very sad that I have already spent close to $90 for a piece of grass my dog is disgusted with.

We’ve been Doggie Lawn users since Fall 2019, so this review is LONG overdue. We live in a mid-rise in a large city and getting out via the freight elevator and around the block for a 2-second potty break isn’t always an appealing option, especially when it’s raining, sleeting, snowing or so windy it will rip the hat off your head.

We trained our puppy to use his grass patch when he was young and haven’t looked back. We simply put him on the grass and would turn him around if he tried to wander off, repeatedly using the “go potty” command.

He got the hang of it within three days. We have the XL delivered every 2 weeks for our mini poodle and it’s been a great upgrade from the L, which used to get a little stinky between changes in the hot months.

Changing out the patches is a cinch because each box comes with plastic gloves and the new latch is rolled in a plastic bag you can dispose of your old lawn in. We’ve had a couple “faulty” patches (moldy/extremely muddy) but DL customer service took care of everything right away.

The quality and size (3′ x 5′) of this outdoor rug are perfect for our application at our cabin entrance. We are going to leave it outside so it’s durability is yet to be determined. It provides a mud free entrance, even after it rains, so mission accomplished!.

Bought this for our cat who used to be an outdoor cat so he could lay on some “grass” while sunbathing 🙂 he loves it. Will buy again after he destroys this one.

save water use artificial turf – no need to cut, fertilize, trim – it’s always perfect and it takes no water (save that for the flowers)

Fresh Patch stands behind their product. Swift, responsive and abnormally respectful staff formulated along with an absolutely outstanding product calls for much more money than is being asked. Our seventeen year old dachshund Mango began having bathroom accidents.

Not wanting to restrict him with diapers we began looking for alternatives and we have found Fresh Patch. Although Mango does not seem to adjust to the grass after over a week of attempts, I believe it to be an excellent quality product.

It is still very much alive and thriving nearly two weeks later. I love the way it feels and looks and since Mango isn’t using it, I have been enjoying its use as a bed mat. Nothing more satisfying than getting out onto green grass every morning! Wife thinks I am quite indeed weird but I refuse to throw it out until it dies.

Bottom line, I explained briefly what my problem was after the company followed up on my satisfaction with their product and within thirty minutes they refunded me for the grass. It wasn’t even their fault! Mango was the one who didn’t want to use it! What a pleasurable experience this was! Our 8 week old puppy took to this immediately. We live in a condo so we needed a solution to let our puppy ***** safely before she’s fully vaccinated. There’s no “Safe space” outside where we can take her that other dogs wouldn’t have gone already.

I had no idea if it would be hard initially to get her used to it, but we plopped her down on it as soon as we brought her home and she went *** right away. We had to re-direct her a couple of times during the **** sniff, but after a few times she knew this was her ***** spot.

Doesn’t mean she was ***** trained that quickly 🙂 but she knew when we put her there that it was her spot to go. 3 weeks later, this is the best thing we could have done. Having to take a puppy out every 15-20 minutes living in a condo would have been a nightmare.

We keep it on our patio which is fairly large, and I never smell anything. I’ve ordered a 2nd one to keep in my car so when I take her places (carrying her only ), I can stick her down on the “safe grass” so she doesn’t have to hold it the entire time.

I will probably keep one on our patio well beyond when I can take her outside also, for early morning and late night *****’s, until she’s old enough not to go so frequently. We had some issues with delivery – FedEx’s fault not fresh patch, but their customer service is excellent and helping me resolve it every time (fedex is awful!).

I had a specific problem to solve and this works. My dog has kidney disease, receives a daily IV drip, pees a lot, I live in a 4-flight walk-up, and she refused to go in the apartment. I began by buying real hydroponic turf.

She immediately took to it. (It comes with flies–I still have gnats. ) I bought this Piddle Place, same size as turf, and eventually put it on top of the turf so she was peeing through it. When I threw out the turf, I put this fake stuff down on a pee pads, and with encouragement (aka begging), she has continued to use it to pee inside.

I am excited to write a review!! My Gideon is a 14 year old Bichon Frise. I bought the Piddle Place about two years ago when we moved into an apartment. We live on second floor and we have a small patio.

Until Gideon got used to using the Piddle Place, I kept it in the bedroom and trained him to use it in the house. The wonderful thing about the Piddle Place IS “NO ODOR”!!!!! The solution that comes with the Piddle Place is FANTASTIC!!! I’ve just recently started putting the Piddle Place on the patio, so that he will get used to using it there as well as inside the apartment.

However, with NO ODOR, I really prefer it being in the bedroom, so that should I not be at home, he still has access to it. I have to say that of all the “pet type” of inventions that have come about, THIS IS MY FAVORITE!!!!! (and I think it’s safe to say, it’s Gideon’s favorite too.

I absolutely love this product. I have a 16 y/o poodle that has a weak bladder now. I’m able to put this on my balcony for her to use instead of rushing her downstairs in the middle of the night. And it saves you from buying so many peepee pads.

This is such a good idea, but the way that the tray is shaped and how the liner fits in makes this thing stink so bad! It turns from a regular pee smell into ammonia in a couple days and smells so much worse than pee pads.

I’m not sure why the insert that separates the tray bottom from the asphault has cups that don’t have a hole in them at the top so that the pee doesn’t get trapped below and start a chemical process that will have the entire house smelling of the most atrocious stench.

Not only that, but the turf is nearly impossible to completely clean. I had to scrub and scrub it with bleach, rinse it, soak it, scrub it again, and yet still, the smell persisted. I think that a different alternative could be used.

I’m not sure why it must “look” like grass, but it’s not really necessary to make it functional. a different material such a netting or some other sort of mesh would have done a much better job, I’m sure.

Either way, I would hope that somebody takes some time and actually tests the effciency of this product, trying different materials and shapes to make this a more functional indoor product. I would absolutely not recommend this product until it is further researched and developed.

This is not a great product, at first glance it does. When it’s time to clean it due to the pee, the smell is horrible. I have cleaned the fake grass so much and the smell doesn’t leave. It’s so strong now that I had to throw it out.

I basically had to go back to wee wee pads for my dogs. What a waste of money for I thought would be a great product.

My little dog really likes it. It snows here in Idaho and this potty pee pads gives him almost real grass to go on. In the pan underneath I put pine pellets which absorbs his pee and then I just dump it all into the trash.

Works great for me because I don’t have to take him outside any more. Just let him out on the patio that’s covered.

I got one and then a second Potty Patch a year ago when my two shih tzu were new puppies. They took to using the Potty Patch immediately. I keep one inside for when I am away or when it is storming, etc.

The other one is on my patio; both prefer to use that one. I keep a large disposable pad under the one inside the house, just in case they miss the pan – which almost never happens anymore. Some have mentioned an ordor problem.

Besides rinsing the pan with a spray bottle of soapy water, I sprinkle baking soda in the tray (Arm & Hammer Pet Fresh carpet odor eliminator with OxiClean). Since the ‘grass’ tends to hold urine, I also use baking powder on top.

Because the powder cakes, I switched to Arm & Hammer cat litter deodorizer spray with baking soda. (I haven’t found a spray for dogs. ) I regularly wash the ‘grass’ in the shower or take advantage of a good rain storm.

No noticeable odor. My only issue, when the tray is full after a rain storm, it is difficult to empty a full tray into a bucket without spilling. I empty the inside tray often enough that I don’t have a problem with it.

Both grass patches are still fine, but I am getting spares to be able to continue using the Potty Patches while washed pads are drying.

My dog hardly uses it. The fake grass does stink very bad even after limited use. I read about this problem on line but now know how its very true. I am probably going to return the potty patch but I might just keep the tray part and use sod instead of the fake grass.

I am going to try that idea before I return it. It is a good idea but it doesn’t really work well. Emptying it is hard to do in an apartment setting. You can’t just dump it over the balcony with apartments below.

The full trays aren’t easy to pick up either. They got filled up mostly with water from rain since they were outside. I got the kind for a large dog. it is a good size but it is 2 trays joined together.

I bought this replacement turf mat as a backup to the original one that came with the potty patch. I like it even better than the first one. The turf is finer and softer, and doesn’t have the odd odor the first one had.

Perfect solution for when one is being cleaned and aired out. The potty patch works great for my 2 small dogs, especially when I’m away longer than expected.
