20 Best Facial Cleanser For Black Skin (2023 Updated)

I’ve been trying to get my boyfriend to properly care for his skin since forever but he was a strict, “the bar of soap that washes my body washes my face” kind of guy. well no more! I bought him this cleanser and the face moisturizer as a gift and he absolutely fell in love with it and uses them both daily.

He works landscaping and construction so this really helps get in his pores and facial hair and removes all the excess sweat dead skin and grime from work and smells incredible. He tried to pretend he didn’t love it as much as he does until it started to run out and asked for more.

The smell is great and it works incredibly we even fight over it while on vacation!.

I struggle very badly with oily skin because I am Laotian, and even besides that I have so much shine. I’ve tried every different type of cleanser to help. I was recommended Boscia one day by the ladies at the Ulta near me, and was kind of skeptical because charcoal cleansers tend to over-dry me or I get pimples the day after.

I bought this cleaner, the green tea moisturizer, and the under eye patches because I wanted to give myself the full treatment. I am now on day 3 of using the cleanser both day and night and I have noticed such a difference! First of all, the cleanser warms when you them on your fingers and apply it to your face.

Such a warming experience, and it wasn’t so intense that it made my face turn red like others. After rinsing and patting dry, I noticed immediately that my skin felt softer and clearer! And now I’m on day 3 and my skin feels so nice and even some of my small chin acne from wearing face masks all day at work is going away too.

I’m sad about the small bottle, but a little goes a long way and this stuff is amazing! Would recommend to anyone who has the asian oily skin like me but also has sensitive skin issues, too!.

I received a bottle of this cleanser in a goody bag earlier this year, and was initially nervous about incorporating it into my daily skincare routine – from reading the product description, I was worried that it’d be way too harsh for my combination/ dry skin.

However, I have to say it’s proved a really gentle and yet powerful cleanser that hasn’t stripped my skin at all (not dryness or tightness, just lovely clean skin). With daily use, the apple acids have done their thing & seriously improved the texture of my T-zone, leaving this area feeling clean & decongested.

My pores look tighter too, which is a definite plus. This cleanser does take a bit of getting used to – there’s a peppermint tingle (usually around the nose & mouth) while you’re using it, but it actually becomes something that you enjoy as part of your daily cleanse.

All in all, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this product.

This is a fantastic cleanser. I have middle-aged, oily/combo skin that still occasionally breaks out. My biggest issues are enlarged pores and dullness. This cleanser gets deep without any dryness so it can be used daily.

It feels cooling (it’s very minty) and has a delightful smell. It also lasts because I only need one pea-size pump to wash my whole face.

I have used this product almost 2 years now and it’s the ONLY thing that has ever gotten rid of my acne. However the last FOUR I have bought will NOT foam up. It comes out as a liquid, and it’s not working anymore.

It will randomly foam up maybe 4 or 5 times through the entire bottle. When if foams up it works immediately and my face is clear. But when it gets charcoal stuck in the applicator it doesn’t foam and I break out even worse.

Idk if the formula was changed, or what happened. I am pretty fed up wasting my money at this point.

I received a sample of this soap in one subscription box or another and I got hooked. My skin has never felt better than it does when I use this in a regular basis. I feel like it clears away all of the badness and just leaves new skin.

This soap is strong, so I do not use it often, only every 3 days or so. Other than that I just use water and the makeup eraser. This can make you red due to the strength. I feel like this really does a great job of clearing up my black heads and leaving my nose looking good.

Other than pore strips, nothing else does that. I highly recommend this soap of you have combination skin and you wear makeup in a regular basis.

Ok, when I first saw this product I was so not sure what it was or how it could help my skin. Mind you, I will try just about anything for healthy skin, so I hesitantly put it on my face and used it as a mask letting it sit on my skin for the allotted time, which is about 5 to 10 minutes or so.

It has an interesting scent but it is not off putting. When the time was up I wet my skin and used circular motions to remove the Black Soap, this turns it into a face wash and helps clean your skin as well.

It is such a good exfoliator, it really does the job without actually scrubbing. This is the first time I had ever exfoliated my skin without actually exfoliating, if you know what I mean. My skin felt so smooth and it didn’t seem to really irritate it but I could tell that it did actually work.

This Black Soap is very powerful and effective without being harsh. It is on the pricey side so buying it regularly probably won’t happen for me, but when I need a good exfoliation this is what I turn to.

I wanted an oil cleanser a little lighter than the balms I usually use (Banila Co, Beauty of Joseon, and Body Shop) for days when I’m just wearing sunscreen or very minimal makeup. This doesn’t do as good of a job at removing eye makeup as the cleansing balms so I follow up with micellar water on cotton pads for eye makeup/mascara.

However, for it does a good job at taking off any sunscreen on my light days. Emulsifies and washes off easily (I follow up with a foam cleanser) and leaves my face feeling soft and hydrated. Very happy that it doesn’t leave my skin feeling tight or “squeaky.

” Lastly, but VERY IMPORTANTLY, I love the minimal ingredient list! No fragrances, no essential oils, no sulfates etc. just a really solid basic oil cleanser with basic but good ingredients. A few last cons: stings when it gets in the eyes so make sure you keep them shut when washing off with water! Also be sure to squirt into the palm over a sink because the oil can slip right through the fingers – so aim carefully into the palm to make sure you’re not wasting product!.

I have tried a lot of cleansers in my day, from micellar waters to cleansing balms, but I am so happy I found this one from Klairs! This is definitely my go-to everyday cleanser now. I love that the product has minimal ingredients and is fragrance free.

No frills, just here to do the job. Compared to the cleansing balms that I had to scoop out, the packaging with the pump is also really convenient for me to know exactly how much to use each day for cleansing (I use one pump for sunscreen only days and two pumps when I have a face of makeup on).

This way I am not wasting any product, and I found that my last bottle lasted me over 4 months! My cleansing balms have only at best lasted 3 months tops, making this the best AND most cost effective cleanser I’ve ever tried.

I’ve been using this for a few months and this cleans well without being drying. If anything I found it to be hydrating. My pores have also improved since using this (which I actually noticed within a few weeks).

It is a kind of lumpy straight out of the tube but as shown from the 2nd to the 3rd photo I only swiped it twice for it to get smooth, so this is not a problem at all. With water it foams nicely and the smell is neutral.

I recently started getting serious about my skincare routine and was recommended this cleanser. I have tried one or two others before and this product does a good job of making your face feel fresh. It doesn’t make your face feel stiff afterwards though when applying it feels as if it might (but it doesn’t)! Overall I would recommend this product to others.

I am a huge fan of all of the cleansers from rose hips black soap cleanser (which I can never be without) to the acacia & honey cleanser. I would say this is a good middle ground between the two for it’s not as strong as the black soap cleanser but you do feel it “”working”” if that makes sense.

It’s not harsh and I am able to use it even with my rosacia flare up’s. I like to alternate and use this when I want something that’s more mild than the black soap yet still effective. It deep cleans but you feel the silky texture of the argan oil and it makes skin feel incredibly smooth.

It’s a thinner consistency than the tamanu & kigelia face wash and the scent is not harsh at all. I massage it all over my face for a min and then I love to let this sit on my skin for another 5-10 before rinsing.

I do feel my skin looks brighter and has a glow similar to when one exfoliates but without the irritation.

Hello! I have been using this product for about 2 weeks consistently. I really like the texture and how it cleans my skin without stripping my natural oils. When you add sugar to the soap, as suggested by the company, your skin will feel like a baby’s bottom.

It is equal to a gentle exfoliate that you can use everyday. My skin feels moisturized and supple after each use. I am looking forward to the continual results as I use the product more and more.

I love this cleanser. You only need a tiny bit, not even a full squirt for your face. I massage it into my skin with a sponge which helps with the exfoliation. My face feels clean, smooth, and invigorated.

I received this product free from Influenster in exchange for my honest review. This is a great cleanser! It is fragrance free. It has 0. 5% salicylic acid, so it isn’t too strong but it is still effective enough.

It has tumeric root extract in it, which has anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial activity, so it’s great anti-acne ingredient. It is also a potent antioxidant and has skin lightening properties that will help with post acne marks.

It has lactic acid in it, which will help exfoliate the skin along with the salicylic acid. Aloe Vera, which is a great moisturizer, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and helps wound healing and skin regeneration.

It also has bisbalol, which is soothing and fights bacteria. This foams up nicely. It makes the skin feel really clean without making it feel dry and stripped at all. My skin feels clean and smoother after using it.

It has helped reduce breakouts and reduce appearance of post acne marks. Usually using anything with salicylic acid regularly will cause dry areas of my skin to get extremely dry, but not with this! This hasn’t increased dryness at all and it has seemed to help reduce the look of my dry areas.

I’ve used the Ultra Facial Cleanser for years! I was originally given a number of Kiehl’s products as a gift during university and am still hooked. This cleanser is mild but effective, doesn’t strip moisture, and is gentle enough that my mildly sensitive/acne-prone skin hasn’t reacted to it in 4+ years.

You only need a pea-size amount per wash. I use this as a PM cleanser and it takes off lightweight mascaras (like Glossier’s Lash Slick) but isn’t super effective against heavy-duty mascara formulas.

I’ve also taken this cleanser travelling to a number of climates and it’s helped my skin hold up well against a variety of environmental factors. I also love that Kiehl’s is available in many international markets, which means I don’t have to give this up every time I move!.

I had one of these hanging around from a Kiehl’s set, and I finally got around to trying it. I wasn’t impressed. To begin with, it was hard to gauge how much to use. I started with a small pearl sized amount, and it didn’t lather up like I thought it would in my hands.

Once I applied it to my face, it still seemed like I’d need to use more. Then all of a sudden it was like I had applied way too much, and it was hard to rinse off. I felt like it just kept going and going – to the point where I felt like it was filmy.

This might be due to the inclusion of SLS. I stopped using SLS cleansers years ago because my skin just couldn’t handle them anymore. This one left me with that dreaded squeaky-clean feeling. Plus, the smell was medicinal and lingered for a bit.

If I was out of cleanser, this would do in a pinch but otherwise I won’t be reaching for it.

It’s a great cleanser. But my skin doesn’t like it either. It’s possible it was the new foundation I tried, but my acne was never this bad, even as a teen. I’m still using it because I bought so much of it.

But I probably won’t buy it again. It does make my skin smoother if that helps, but there’s something in this brand that my skin is sensitive to and I have no idea what it is. For the right person, it’ll be a god send.

Just not for me. And at 90 bucks for the full kit? I made the mistake of buying two and now I can’t do a thing with it. 😣.

AMAZING!!! No need to double cleanse. This thing does it all the first round. It’s not drying or irritating at all. I usually wash my hands first, activates the cleanser in my hands by working it into a lather, then I got to work on my face for 60 secs.

I always get the best results when I follow this method.

Never been so satisfied with a cleanser! My overall experience with this cleanser has been great so far! It shipped almost immediately after I purchased it on a Thursday, and I got it on Sunday! I was eager to try it out and it has met my expectations.

It has a really pleasant scent and doesn’t run off your hands. A little goes a long way, which is also a plus. It is mild and doesn’t dry out my combination skin, but also gets my skin really clean on the first wash.

I’ve had it for about four weeks and noticed that myself skin is not as oily. I have hyperpigmentation so dark spots are a longtime concern of mine. Not only has the cleanser prevented new breakouts, my tone and texture have improved as well! My makeup goes on a little smoother, too.

I’ve only used about a third to a half of the tube so I’m looking forward to comparing the results when it’s done.

I love Jack Black products and use way to many of them! I saw someone else mention travel sizes and you responded that there is a 3oz tube. I travel almost every week for 1 to 2 nights and I am carry on only.

This means that I am limited to one ziploc bag so fitting all the JB products I use, plus the rest, even in a 3oz size is simply not possible. I also try to reduce my plastic usage wherever possible, so while I kind of live off the samples (and often time orders to so I can get larger samples of things I use anyway, I hate doing that.

Ideally you would have smaller, refillable containers that could be used for a variety of different products. I would actually pay good money for that. I’ve tried using old contact lens cases but that’s not ideal because I think too much air gets in and the product degrades.

I am a big Jack Black fan! The skincare or the person, take your pick lol anyway this face scrub is so GOOD. The scrub leaves my skin feeling awake! Not just from the exfoliant but from the scent it leaves.

It just feels fresh. My husband loves how his skin feels post shave, makes for a clean shave. I love to use it before I do my skincare to ensure mg skin takes in all the goodness free of dead skin cells.

I do wish the exfoliating balls were smaller for a finer feel but other then that I love it. Packaging is great, easy to use and snaps tight so you don’t loose product. Always reccomend Jack Black anything.

Love Jack Black products. I enjoy the fact they have unique products like the. This oil isn’t like any others. It can be used on face, body, or hair! And the best part is it doesn’t stay oily. It goes on feeling light weight and oily, but eventually dries down.

Great for some intense hydration. I love using it on my face sometimes as my moisturizer and my facial hair as well.

Love this stuff! I want an endless supply. < 3 I was not expecting an exfoliator but it was actually very gentle on my very dry skin. Made it feel hydrated for once. I took a risk trying it as it feels very coarse and my skin is very very dry due to over washing.

I scrub it in very lightly with my fingertips. I can deal with the packaging but it would be cool if it didn’t come out by itself. I feel sad wasting even a drop of it.

This cleanser is different from your regular cleansers so the idea is innovative. It is gritty though so I dissolve more first with some water so it doesn’t feel harsh and then apply it to my face. Doing it this way works great for me and I find myself really enjoying the experience.

It does clarify and exfoliate my skin and thoroughly clean out dirt (haven’t tested on removing make up yet) without over drying skin. The results are different in a good way that you can’t achieve with other cleansers and I have a LOT (mid to high end) to compare it with in my collection.

I love that it is more natural unique ingredients. I hate the packaging though. The cap is super heavy bulky gold (like a piece of motor equipment or part) and hard to screw on and off. Very ugly cap.

Tube is not that bad to squeeze out. Maybe they improved their formulation since the initial reviews. I hope they redesign the cap (I like the tube because it’s more sanitary than a jar). I don’t know if I will repurchase because I can’t stand the heavy cap.
