20 Best Face Washes For Dry Skin (2023 Updated)

I support Burts Bees and love their makeup products so I was excited when I saw this cleanser. For background, I have combination skin that tends to be acne prone. I prefer oil-free products without silicones.

I bought this as a replacement for the Cerave Hydrating cleanser which is my HG however I get headaches after using products with PEGs (polyethylene glycol). I was hoping this would be a dupe but it is not.

This is not hydrating enough. It also burns a bit while applying and briefly causes redness. It is drying after I wash my face. There need to be more oil-free moisturizing ingredients and fewer surfactants in this product.

For instance putting more fatty alcohols like cetearyl alcohol in greater concentration before the surfactants and adding sodium hyaluronate. Overall great concept but the hydration just wasn’t there.

A pump dispenser would also be more ideal. I really wanted to like it, but perhaps may like it better after a reformulation. I do like that this is oil free though. Please reformulate as this product has lots of potential!.

This is a really great, gentle cleanser for the winter! I find it to be incredibly soothing, yet still effective at removing dirt and oils. If you’re on the hunt for a product that is cruelty-free and safe for sensitive skin (fragrance-free), I think this cleanser is worth a try.

My only gripe with the product is the lid. Admittedly, I am a bit confused because the lid that is pictured in all the photos I have come across online (flip top) is not the actual lid on the product.

I have seen this cleanser in Target, CVS, and Walgreens (which is where I purchased mine) and it actually has a disc top cap. If you’ve ever used any of the serums from The Inkey List, then you’re probably familiar with this type of lid.

I personally find that the product always leaks out of these kinds of lids and leaves the bottle sticky and messy. I would love if they switched to the regular flip top that is pictured on the website.

If you have sensitive skin, I highly recommend Burt’s Bees sensitive skin line. The Gentle Face Cleanser feels very light and gentle against the skin. It does not lather or foam up like some cleansers do, which may feel different at first.

It has a mild celery or leafy scent but doesn’t smell heavy or artificial. “Fragrance” is not listed in the ingredient list (a must for sensitive skin!) so the scent must come from the natural ingredients.

What I love most about this cleanser is that it doesn’t dry my skin out! My skin is naturally very oily, but after washing with other cleansers for oily skin, it can leave my skin feeling dry…thus causing it to produce more oil.

This Burt’s Bees cleanser feels moisturizing, but doesn’t leave my face feeling greasy – something I have encountered with their face cleansers in the past. I would highly recommend trying this one if you have sensitive oily type skin!.

I have been on tretinoin for 5 months now and my number one problem was my barrier was always compromised. I’ve tried all kinds of moisturizers and the last thing on my mind was changing my cleanser – I’d been using cleansers with surfactants.

I decided to try this and found that this is the only cleanser that did not make my face sting or burn. My skin is very dry because of retinoid and cold weather in Toronto. I was skeptical at first because I’ve heard that it leaves a film and that it feels like it’s not cleansing at all.

Little did I know that my was gonna LOVE it. I use it twice a day, I apply it on dry skin then massage it for a minute, rinse with water then wipe my face dry gently with a (very gentle) face washcloth.

It’s not stripping and my face does not feel tight after. Plus it removes light makeup and sunscreen! I pair it with Lipikar Baume (one of my LRP faves too) to protect my skin barrier!.

This is really a review for all of the Toleriane range as I use the cleanser and moisturisers. Every time my sensitive skin flares up I come back to these products and it calms down straight away. I then get confident and start using products with essential oils and wonder why I have to come back to this range again! Even within a few days my skin is no longer red and looks plump and normal.

I think you can use the cleanser with any skin although I have drier skin. The moisturisers suit anyone too. I use a fluid during the day and creme at night. The products also work really well with the Avene tolerance range.

I use to have really bad little lines on my forehead. they werent those long wrinkles that went across but little lines all over and I started thinking I needed to consider a retinol. I am so young, that I didn’t like the thought of using retinol.

I have also had really congested skin in my forehead to the point where I had to get benzoyl peroxide to try and get it out of my skin. I saw a video by susan yara were she explained dehydrated skin can look congested and tired and it hit me that the skin on my forehead was probably really dehydrated and the benzoyl peroxide was only further drying out my skin.

I tried this 3 times so far and wow! My congested skin literally went down within a few days. I have never seen my skin clearer! I also notice those stubborn lines are not as noticeable and my skin has never been this smooth! it is extremely hydrating this cleanser and I leave it on for a few minutes so my skin can absorb the glycerin ( its a humectant that helps to hydrate your skin) before rinsing it off and ppyling jojoba oil.

wow is all I have to say.

I was very skeptical to pay this much for a cleanser. I would usually use European brands for sensitive skin such as Avene, Bioderma, or La Roche Posay, but recently I was having cystic acne outbreaks on top of Rosacea.

I was desperate so I decided to upgrade my skin care routine. $$$ To be honest, this cleanser is wonderful! I love massaging it to my dry skin and removing it with the warm towelette. This technique seems to be cleaning my skin better than applying cleanser on wet face and rinsing.

Also my skin feels so soft after! I have very pale skin prone to redness and I this cleanser with the Pai Rose Hip Oil do not make the issue worse (like most skincare product), but better! After using this cleanser for a week I noticed my face is not as red as usually and no new acne spots have been formed.

It really seems to be working for me. On days when I wear make up I also use the Pai Cleansing oil as second cleans after the Pai Middlemist Seven to make sure I remove all the make up and these routine has been working for me wonderfully.

If you have very sensitive pale skin prone to cystic acne or rosacea, I would give this cleanser a try. It’s been working wonderfully for me it might also for you.

I am currently experiencing extreme rosacea acne on my T-zone but mostly my cheeks. My face is itchy, red, and has painful cysts. This product been a saviour as I work on my internal health. It is creamy and smells light/refreshing/dreamy.

It feels so soft on my face and soothes my angry skin. It is seriously cooling and a relief to my poor face. I use biodegradable bamboo towels from “Clean Skin Club” with water to remove it. I think it does a good job at removing my makeup and cleaning my pores.

I will wash with this twice if I wear makeup. Enjoy!.

I love this cleanser. It’s gentle and my skin feels clean but also nourished and soft. I rub the cleanser into my skin, then use a little bit of water to emulsify it a little with my fingers. I have some bamboo soft washable cotton pads and I use one of these.

I run it under luke warm water, squeeze it out and then gently wipe. Then I rinse my whole face with Luke warm water. Voila! Clean and fresh!.

If you’re on the fence, just get it. It makes a dramatic difference in my skin which is rare for a cleanser to do. This really clears up my skin, calms my redness, gets my skin super clean, doesn’t irritate my rosacea and actually seems to help it, reduces puffiness, sooths my sensitivity and makes my pores smaller.

My skin is textured and I didn’t think it was possible for a face wash to make my skin glow but this is no less than miraculous. So basically, it does everything I would ever want in a cleanser. It lathers up nicely and gets rid of makeup, although I also remove waterproof mascara separately.

I try new cleansers all the time as anyone would who has subscriptions and this is the only one thus far that does it all and actually HELPS my skin. That is really hard to find in a face wash. So, this is perfect.

The only thing I hate is the fact it’s expensive. However, I suppose that when you consider everything it does for my face and it being something that’s literally on my face for under a minute, it’s a good fair price.

One tube lasts about 3 months if I’m washing twice a day. You don’t need much. It lathers up well and since I exfoliate using a puff with this, it really does go pretty far. And, it does not send suds all over the room which is great.

I can cut the tube open to get the last little bit out too. My previous favorite was that calming one from the Tiger Grass collection of Dr. Jart+ and I’d say this runs a close second just in case that’s your favorite too and you’re on the fence about buying it.

It really is worth all the hype.

I have very very sensitive skin and finding a product that will clean your face, remove makeup, and not irritate my skin? I have found it!! I was browsing the skincare section at Ulta, when one of the employees approached me asking if they could help.

Not one to really ask for help, being so independent, I was simply overwhelmed as to which product would be best for me. Talking with her, she recommended Tula. She told me that their products were very safe for women with sensitive skin.

I had heard of Tula from a friend’s girlfriend who uses Tula and her skin is beautiful. She doesn’t necessarily have the sensitivity that I have but it works for her. The associate recommended the Cult Classic facial cleanser.

I had been using Philosophy Purity Made Simple prior to the cult classic cleanser. Purity was good for a while but I noticed that my face wasn’t always completely clean of makeup, etc. yuck! I started using this cleanser and I LOVE IT! No sensitive issues, cleans my face thoroughly and it has really helped my skin tone! My face looks healthier, brighter and definitely more acne free.

Menopausal skin is no joke! Acne for days. the Cult Classic Cleanser is truly a fabulous product, and one that I will stick with for a long time to come! Just don’t ever quit making it!! I do, however, suggest using a wet soft cloth to remove the cleanser.

I think it helps to get rid of the makeup a lot better. Campanelli makes a fabulous cleanser/makeup remover cloth that won’t irritate your skin! Now, I will admit after using my face does tend to get more dry and I just simply apply either the Tula 24/7 moisture facial moisturizer or the Brighten Your Day moisturizer which smells heavenly!.

I’ve been trying the Tula Cult Classic Purifying Face Cleanser in the mornings and evenings for a couple of weeks and it has its definite pros and cons, for my particular skin type anyway. As some others have mentioned, the smell of the cleanser is quite strong.

I thought perhaps it was the smell of the ingredients only, but it does list fragrance as a component. The cleanser would be better with a much more mild scent, almost no scent. As someone with combination skin going through a particularly harsh Canadian winter, I think it’s best for me to only use it once a day rather than two as directed.

Using it twice a day did over-dry my skin, which the product isn’t supposed to do, but I recognize someone with oilier skin in a warmer climate could easily use this twice per day without over-drying.

That being said, using the cleanser once per day, my skin felt and looked clean because it was effective at removing dirt, makeup and impurities. As a result, I would recommend this product to others, and look forward to trying it more in the summer when my skin is less prone to drying out.

Using it in combination with the undereye cooling balm has made my skin look and feel better.

Love, love, live the scent of this cleanser. It makes me smile and feel like I’m encompassed by everything Autumn. This was also a big hit with my 3 daughters. MyChelle gifted me this cleanser and I’ll definitely be purchasing more.

It should have lasted longer but we all loved it so much we went through the bottle a bit faster than normal. I was afraid the essential oils listed in the ingredients might cause irritation on our facial skin, considering we all have sensitive skin and even my youngest daughter was using it, but we didn’t run into any problems.

The cleanser pumps out as an airy foam and suds up just enough to give your face the perfect clean.

I bought this product about a month ago and have been using it consistently since then. Overall, I am happy with the purchase, but I am more inclined towards other cleansers from the MyChelle line. The Creamy Pumpkin Cleanser is unlike many cleansers on the market, because it does not foam at all.

Even cream and oil based cleansers I tend to use have a gentle bubble that helps break down and lift off makeup, dirt, and debris from my face. Because of this quality, I find that this cleanser is NOT a one-and-done or do-all cleansing product.

It is great for morning use, when the skin is relatively clean and just needs a little refresh (massaging a cleanser like this into the skin can help wake you up and get that circulation going). It is also good as a second-step cleanser at night, after a more substantial cleanser is used to remove impurities from the face.

If you are looking for a cleanser to use in a double-cleanse routine, if you are looking for a light morning cleanser, or if you are not a makeup and sunscreen wearer, this cleanser can be plugged into your routine to meet various skin needs.

It leaves the skin supple, hydrated, and non-irritated. This is a wonderfully gentle cleanser, it just doesn’t pack a ton of horsepower, so make sure it suits your needs. And a quick tip. instead of just splashing water on your face to remove this cleanser, use a gentle cloth to swipe it away.

This will help the cleanser remove more from your skin, much like you’d do for a cleansing balm or cleansing oil.

I’ve been using MyChelle for about 10 years, and the creamy pumpkin cleanser was one of the first products I tried. I LOVE this cleanser, I hate this new packaging, and I want to give it one star hoping that the manufacturers will change the bottle.

Since the bottle is opaque I can’t see how much product is left. When I did get to the “end” of my last bottle, when the pump wouldn’t pump out any more, I opened it and saw that I had a lot of product remaining.

I watered it down and got more product out of it that way, but this pump is inefficient for cleaning out my bottle. The old bottle was clear and had a tab that pushed open. Really simple, not fancy, and I got all of my product out.

Gravity seems more efficient at getting this thick, creamy product out, compared to this silly pump.

I’m pretty skeptical of most products packaged for “sensitive skin. ” With rosacea, sensitive skin, and acne issues, a lot of common ingredients and fragrances cause flare ups all over the place. I’ve never been so excited, however, because this cleanser has radically changed my mind!! Most of the time, if a product soothes my rosacea, it caused acne flare ups.

If it rid my skin of acne, it would cause my rosacea to spread and worsen. This cleanser is the first to work for all aspects of my skin, calming the redness and uneven skin tone. My pores have visibly reduced in my t-zone, and it no longer looks like I have a permanent flush to my skin.

I almost cried the day I realized I would be comfortable leaving the house without a full face of make up. For any one thinking of purchasing this line, I wholeheartedly recommend it! As with switching any skin care product in your routine, some irritation occurred for me, but the overall improvement in the quality of my skin more than makes up for it.

I love the gentle foam that gathers as you lather, and the delicate rose scent isn’t overwhelmingly sweet or harsh. Perfect for both day and night routines, it doesn’t leave my skin feeling dry or right after cleansing.

I would, however, not recommend this as your only cleanser if you wear a full face of make up (powder, foundation, etc). Pair this with some other type of make up remover to ensure squeaky clean skin! All in all, I am in love with this, and can’t recommend it more highly.

I have very sensitive skin, so I have to be extremely careful when it comes to skin care. Often times, cleaners and moisturizers will cause my skin to become inflamed or breakout. I was so happy to finally find a cleanser that is gentle on my skin yet powerful enough to effectively remove dirt and oil.

Aveeno daily moisturizer cleanser with soothing oat is light weight and easily washes away, unlike thick cleansing creams, so I don’t have to worry about clogged pores and break outs. The cleanser has is fragrance free and adds moisture to my dry, patchy skin.

Since using the cleaner, my skin looks healthier and more hydrated. I use it on my face and neck every morning and evening and I couldn’t be happier with the results. This cleanser definitely gave me the fresh, vibrant skin that I was hoping for.

I highly recommend Aveeno Daily moisturizing cleanser to all of my friends and family who battle with dry skin.

I’m a huge skincare lover so I’m already familiar with Aveeno…I like the brand as a whole. Love products containing oats for the soothing benefits. This cleanser is a thicker format with an extremely light lather, doesn’t foam up.

More like a gel cleanser. Does a great job removing any accumulation that came from overnight as a morning cleanse. Also like using this when I’ve previously used certain actives (AHA’s, Retinol etc) and want something that will not cause irritation.

Didn’t leave my skin feeling stripped. Was hydrating, but, wouldn’t go so far as to say it was moisturizing. Does have a “natural scent” that is noticeable even though it’s marketed as fragrance free…the scent is not bothersome since it disappeared quickly.

If you have more sensitive skin & want a nice affordable morning cleanser would recommend this oat based cleanser by Aveeno.

I have very sensitive, psoriasis-plagued, combination skin that makes it difficult to find products that both work, but don’t dry or irritate my face. This cleanser has checked all the important boxes I look for in a cleanser.

Namely, it gives my face a thorough cleansing. It removes my makeup incredibly effectively without being too harsh, and leaves my skin feel refreshed, soft, and hydrated. I don’t get any overly dry areas nor does it leave any oil or residue.

The cleanser is great for people who have skin issues like me, especially because it’s formulated without any of the bad stuff in it. There are no parabens, sulfates, soaps, fragrances, or dyes, and it’s made with non-GMO food-grade oats.

It’s a product I feel good about using on myself or giving to my teenage daughters.

I am a 63 year old woman and visit an aesthetician every 5-6 weeks for retinol facials. My aesthetician always cleanses my face prior to treatment. One day I asked what she was using and she said Revision facial wash.

Before I left she gave me a couple sample packs of Revision Brightening Facial Wash to try at home. My aesthetician instructed me, only use as I can handle as some people report a little sensitive to it.

I am happy to report that sensitivity is not my experience with this product. It took such a small amount to lather my face and spread across my neck. For me, the effect after washing with this facial wash, is soft smooth feeling skin.

I decided to try Revision Brightening Facial Wash after hearing several bloggers talk about it. I have been on a skincare journey the past couple years and I really struggled to clear up all the breakouts I was having.

I was having a really hard time with it and felt super self-conscious I will say that Revision costs a little bit more but in this case, you get what you pay for. First, it smells so good. It’s a gentle citrus scent that doesn’t linger longer than it should.

Second, the results you will get after using this are so good. I haven’t been using it too long but I’ve already noticed my skin tone evening out and any blemishes that I still had are clearing up. I didn’t have to ease into using this but I have heard other people needed to.

I never wanted to go out in public without makeup and I feel so much more confident with my skin that I will now! I honestly cannot say enough good things about this product. It is my new and trusted facial wash!.

Since discovering this face wash, I will never be without it! I have sensitive/fair skin, and also have issues with oil, blackheads & clogged pores. This wash feels so gentle and luxurious, but the ingredients and formulation are so powerful — they keep my skin in check.

I usually use it only in my morning regimen, followed by vitamin C, sunscreen and makeup. At night, I like to use something with a physical exfoliant to gently scrub off all the makeup and SPF.

This is the best cleanser, that I have ever used. I have bad rosacea and I have tried so many cleansers for my condition. This cleanser has calmed my skin, I don’t have so many flair ups. My skin actually feels clean after I wash with no tightness or dryness.

I also purchased the toning lotion from this brand which is also very good. I have found my holy grail with Revision.

I am a longtime user of Revision Skincare products and wanted to give the foaming cleanser a try. I use Revision Brightening Cleanser at night, but wanted something lighter for my morning routine and this product is perfect.

Unlike other foaming cleansers I have tried, this one is rich and creamy, and it leaves my combination skin feeling clean, but not dry. I will absolutely buy again!.

I am 49 and my skin is pretty healthy, no unusual issues, I do not usually wear makeup, I do live in the city so there’s that general grime. This cleanser keeps my pores clean and my skin soft without abrasive scrubbing or peeling.

The foam is perfect and rinses very easily. Very pleased with this product and will definitely look to purchase in the future.
