20 Best Face Wash For Blackheads And Oily Skin (2023 Updated)

Prior to receiving this voxbox from Influenster and Cetaphil, all I knew about the brand was that it was canceled by the skincare community. There was some controversy about the ingredients or the product claims, but honestly I don’t even remember the specifics.

Needless to say I had previously been avoiding Cetaphil at all costs. Later on, I saw a skincare routine video by Meghan the Stallion who swore by her Cetaphil cleanser, and explained that she had tried everything, but Cetaphil was the only product that cleared her face up when she suffered from bad breakouts.

Despite her testimonial, I still wasn’t 100% sold… perhaps that was just her isolated experience (or maybe the video was sponsored). 🤷🏾‍♀️ So when I was chosen for this voxbox, despite being skeptical, I decided to experience the product for myself.

The first thing I noticed was that the label said “New Improved”, indicating it’s a new formula, and geared to Combination to Oily, Sensitive Skin! It lists glycerin and vitamins B5 B3 as key ingredients and claims to deep clean and minimize the appearance of pores without stripping skin of natural moisture.

Pros: Lightweight, gentle, lathers, I have super large pores prior to using this cleanser and I don’t know what sorcery is this, but I washed my face before bed and when I woke up my pores were non-existent.

Like whoa! 😳 I didn’t see that one coming. I was literally blown away! This product is legit and I’m sold! Cons: It is strongly scented. Long after I had washed my face and went to bed I was still smelling the fragrance.

It didn’t cause a negative reaction, but products for sensitive skin usually don’t have fragrance, so I was a bit surprised. It also best used as a cleanser after your makeup remover. It performed much better after having removed my makeup, but I don’t suggest using it as a makeup removing cleanser.

One of my favorite things to purchase is sets or bundles of products. Most times I can get a better value and try a product with little risk, compared to MSRP individual prices. PCA is great at bundling products that work well together.

I lean towards gentle, moisturizing facial washes and this cleanser is just that. It has decent suds action without feeling stripping afterwards. I like to use stronger products at night but the nutrient toner is great for morning routines.

It leaves my skin feeling balanced and prepped for my day. Would definitely recommend PCA products overall and this set is awesome!.

My aesthetician at Massage Envy recommended this product along with the toner (smells like pumpkin) and Rebalance moisturizer. I wash my face twice a day and each time my face burns and feels so incredibly tight afterwards.

I cannot wait to get the toner on and dried to put the Rebalance on. I usually have to put two or three treatments of the Rebalance on to help it not be so painful. I’ve had dry flaky skin around my nose and top of my forehead.

My cheeks and forehead are so tight that it’s painful to touch. I used the product for 6 days straight. I’ve verified that I’m not allergic to any of the ingredients. I had to add my Clinique 72 hour moisturizer onto my face the last two days to help with the dryness pain.

I found and bought this in September of 2021. It literally made my skin poreless and clear. Just purchased a new cleanser yesterday Jan. 2022 and the ingredients are different. It’s missing jojoba oil and some other original ingredients.

Why do companies mess with ingredients!! This new formula smells different and not in a good way. I am hesitant to use it. On this site you have the original ingredients listed but on this image on the cleanser it is different and not in a good way.

So bothered by this because now the efficacy of the ingredients are in question. I knew the minute I used this new unimpressive formula that I have to move on. Such a shame because it did wonders for my skin.

Why do you take out an important ingredient that helps the skin? ! Please go back to the ingredients listed below on this site but not on the product itself. Thank you.

This has been the only face wash/scrub that I’ve been able to find that works on my oily, acne prone face and skin. And I’ve tried most other major name brands out there with little to no results, or worse results (skin irritation, dried up skin, worse breakouts, etc).

I do pair this with Dial bar soap though. I will wash my face and any other problem areas (my shoulders, neck, etc, areas that are prone to breakouts) with Dial soap and a washcloth, rinse my face, then I will use this product with a washcloth.

For me at least I’ve found success if do this everyday or every other day for a couple or few weeks in a row. Otherwise I don’t really see as much or at least the maximum amount of benefit from the product that I’m wanting to get out of it.

I also utilize their facial wipes of the same brand. They are amazing and really help on those days where you are constantly on the go and just don’t have time to take a shower or wash your face. They help to remove your makeup as well.

I just wish that these products were actually sold in stores again. I hate having to go online to buy them now.

I purchased this charcoal scrub mainly for my teenage son who struggles with acne and very large pores. I myself have large pores so we both tried it out for a couple weeks and we saw visibly noticable results after a couple of uses! It leaves your skin feeling so soft and smooth and clean! The charcoal really gets in there and cleans everything out of and off of your face!.

I’m 45, have had a history of acne and have used alot of products on the market. But I’m glad to say, my acne had settled with few breakouts, except due to hormonal changes. Most of the time, I keep something with benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid in my arsenal when I feel likey skin is shifting or seeming a bit off.

I bought this cleanser in the hopes that it being cheaper, a basic salicylic cleanser that it couldn’t do any worse than what I’ve used up to this point in my life. This was thick, right from the bottle, and foams well.

And the ingredients and stance of the company is pretty great toward their skincare. Simple, clean lines and marketing with a great price point. But here’s the thing, this after 3 uses opened up an active breakout.

I know that when you switch cleansers, oil production and your skin balance has to get accustomed to everything, but this was so bad. I have had very clear skin up to the use of this product, and since I’m breaking out like I’m in my teens.

This isn’t “purging” or sensitivity. There are other ingredients in this cleanser within the delivery system that have to be creating problems in some people. I do use and have a history of using glycolic peels and salicylic peels for regular exfoliation and use them only when necessary.

This product should be avoided if you are someone that is expecting this to work gently and to be non-comedegenic. I really think the “purging” is more marketing than anything. Any cleanser that you use messes with the PH and generally affects your skin in some way.

If you’re wanting purging or desire an active breakout for months, use this, or explore Accutane, or look at some Rxs for a retinoid from a Dermatologist. There are better cleansers available.

So finally writing a review of The INKEY List after a few months of use with the following products: – Salicylic Acid Cleanser – Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Serum – Beta Hydroxy Acid Serum – Polyglutamic Acid Serum After using these products in order and eliminating all other products, ultimately all of these were a dud for me.

I ended up with more acne that I have ever experienced that just wouldn’t go away. It’s very unfortunate cause (1) The price is great for these, yes a bit on the small side, but I found a little did go a long way.

(2) These came highly recommended for acne-prone skin, and I had a couple of blemishes here and there that I wanted to keep away. (3) The ingredient list seemed to be minimal and fragrance free. Added a star because, I do understand this does work for a lot of people and my skin did feel clean and not dried out.

However, the amount of acne that appeared on my forehead and chin was shocking. Even changing out my pillow covers frequently (which I do already and use a fragrance free detergent). I had been using The Ordinary products for years and wanted to give these a try since I heard amazing things and the packaging travels well for the amount of traveling I was doing recently for work.

I don’t like to waste products so since I am almost done, I will finish them. I’m glad I did try them out though, but I will not be purchasing this brand again unfortunately, Bummer, but sometimes it takes trial and error.

I have been using the product for just under a week now to treat chronic acne on my chin area. I tried using this cleanser, then the Ordinary Niacinamide, followed by the Ordinary retinol in squalene, then the Cereve moisturizer.

I noticed a slight tingle after using this face wash, which I assumed was natural. But when I put the Ordinary niacinamide on I noticed my skin felt almost burning. I knew that there was an adjusting period to any new product so I’ve stuck with it for this week.

I took the niacinamide out of my routine to see if it was heightening the burning sensation, which it was a little. I also tried taking out the Ordinary retinol in squalene I had been using because I had read that pairing sialic acid and retinal could be too strong for the skin.

but even just with using this cleanser and moisturizer my skin felt really sensitive and burned if I scratched it by accident. I realized this morning that my skin looks old, and I’m 19. this product legit gave me slight wrinkles and hooded eyes, along with general redness.

in their defence, I love that this product works so well for so many people, and I think it’s AWESOME how conscious they are as a company!!! but this definitely did NOT work for me. and I do realize that I should have discontinued use as soon as I realized it wasn’t working for my skin.

wow wow wow! my oily/sensative skin loves this! I typically use Korean skincare products in my routine, but decided to try this cleanser out because I wasnt sure when my next international order would be.

Glad I tried it! I used Paula’s Choice BHA Chemical exfoliant once a week for 1 year. although I did notice a difference as my face felt cleaner the next morning, I didnt notice that my blackheads were dissolving or noticeable progress after long-time use.

I decided to try this Differin cleanser also because it has Benzoyal Peroxide in it, and I tend to break out with whitehead around my nose quite often. probably due to my oily skin and sebum production in that area.

and WOW! I used this cleanser in the AM this past 3 days and the blackheads on my nose and cheek area are almost complete gone! I’m not sure if I will keep this in my daily routine because I dont want my skin to get used to it and not work after a long period of use.

but definitely once a week!!.

I used this cleanser for 3. 5 months, my skin health slowly started going downhill. I thought it was because of other factors which is why I continued to use this product for so long. Eventually, I realized that my breakouts started around the same time that I began using this cleanser.

Within several days of discontinuing use of this cleanser my face has started to clear up. However, the severity of my breakout due to this cleanser made me want to figure out why this cleanser didn’t work for me.

Several factors, including learning about the body’s immune system during a Microbiology class lead me to research the pH of this product and it’s ingredients. I could not find any information online about the pH of this product and none of the customer service people have provided me with an answer as of yet.

According to several at home pH tests (I tested a variety of products to verify the relative accuracy of the test) it would seem that this cleanser has an approximate pH of 9. 5 (my reading is probably within /- 0.

5 accuracy). Human skin has a natural pH of ~5. 5 (which is slightly acidic) and this is a factor in the immune system’s first line of defense (physical and chemical barriers). This natural acidity of the skin makes the skin an inhospitable environment for harmful bacteria to survive on.

Because pH is a logarithmic scale, this cleanser is ~10,000x more basic than the skin’s natural pH. This essentially turned my face into a petri dish for bacteria to grow on. I would never recommend this product to anyone.

(P. S. Potassium Hydroxide, also known a lye, is an ingredient in this cleanser, so it might be useful for cleaning oily dishes in your kitchen. ).

This oil-free Ultra Facial Cleanser is WONDERFUL! Tonight is my third time using it and from the first use I was impressed. The tube size is very generous, meaning it’ll last a really long time considering a small amount is needed to get an abundance of lather.

I use a cellulose round to wash my face to help entire a good, thorough clean. As I’m splashing water onto my face to remove the cleanser my face feels and sounds squeaky clean. My skin looks very clean, bright, and nearly a shade lighter (just kidding!).

My skin feels a little tight without feeling stripped, but nothing a nice night time moisturizer can’t remedy. I have very oily skin – nearly all over. I’ll see how effective it is when used in the morning (hence the 4 star rating), but even if it doesn’t do well throughout the day I’ll still keep in my regime (for night time make up removal).

I currently use a Tea Tree facial cleanser that is very effective during those hot summer days that has proven its worth. I’ve not noticed an offensive smell as some have indicated. A slight smell is present, but it dissipates so quickly that it’s really not worth mentioning.

My husband and I both use this product! Great facial scrub because you can feel the little beads in the soap but they are not too harsh. It also has a refreshing smell that works for a man or a woman! This is a great price point for an every day cleanser.

In addition my husband has very sensitive skin and he’s never had a problem with this product!.

This cleanser did a good job of cleansing the face. I used this as a teen, so the formula may have changed since then. But I haven’t purchased this again because it dried out my face so bad. I think that may have contributed to my acne going haywire.

Anyways, if you use this, I would follow up with a moisturizer (I didn’t know anything about skincare in high school, which also could have been part of the problem).

I use 3 face washes from WOW. This is one of them. I only use this about twice per week and only my second week in, my face is much clearer and no small pimples anywhere, and I had a few that just weren’t going away at all before using this.

My daughter absolutely loves this face wash. She’s had acne really bad. That she’s been clear from a prescription she had this has maintained it. Rarely does she have a breakout now. She doesn’t want to change to anything else.

Great deep cleanser, love the pieces in it. Makes my skin so soft. Helps my daughter keep her acne under control with out over drying her skin. Would recommend to teenagers.

I really liked this product at first as it smelled great and was hydrating. However, not long after using it I noticed that my eyes became dry and sensitive. I thought it was environmental allergies until I used this product to break down my makeup and my eyes became very irritated and I had to wash out with water.

I stopped using it and realized the issue was this product. I think it would be good for your skin but those with sensitives, I would be cautious. Soko Glam has great customer service though and an awesome return policy.

It’s a great oil cleanser that doesn’t dry out my already dry skin, the only reason it doesn’t get all 5 stars is because it takes some work to get my waterproof mascara off when there are other oil cleansers out there that do the work better and with less rubbing.

It has a soothing lavender scent which is very pleasing, and would make a great cleanser for someone who doesn’t wear waterproof mascara.
