20 Best Face Cleanser For Sensitive Acne Prone Skin (2023 Updated)

I received a trial size of Avène Cleanance Cleansing Gel from BzzAgent in exchange for an honest review. I’ve currently replaced my normal cleanser with this one for the past week, and I’ve really enjoyed it.

I’ve found that Avène Cleanance Cleansing Gel has a wonderful consistency, it is in fact a gel as it says, but this has been enjoyable for me due to switching from a more liquid based cleanser. I find that I lose less product when trying to lather and I find it easier to get the correct amount.

A little bit of this goes a long way, I use about a pea sized amount for my entire face and neck. The gel creates a full lather that has a wonderful feel to it. It goes on easily and rinses clean without any film or greasy feeling left behind, which makes it a bit quicker to use compared to some other products.

The scent is enjoyable and light, not overwhelming. As someone with oily, acne prone skin, this works really well for me as it’s a bit drying, but not so much that my face feels parched after use, just enough to cleanly wash the oil from my skin, while still remaining soft.

It leaves your skin with a bit of a matte finish to it, which for me creates a perfect base for moisturizer and night time skincare routines, or is a fantastic base to apply makeup. It’s also good for sensitive skin as sometimes cleansers are irritating to me or cause redness after use.

I’ve noticed it’s been beneficial in helping to clear a few acne spots I currently have just within a week of use, and I notice my face is less oily the morning after using it. All in all it’s a great addition to a skincare routine for anyone whose skin might fit these parameters.

I received this as a sample to try. I love the gel consistency of this cleanser. It lathers a little bit but not much. It seems to break down my makeup well which is great. The downside to this product, from my perspective, is the heavy fragrance.

I don’t mind a little fragrance but this is intense and overpowering. I first tested it on the inside of my arm because I have really sensitive skin and I need to test a product before putting it on my face.

Just trying it on my arm the fragrance was overpowering, so much so that I could actually taste it in my mouth. I didn’t get a rash on my arm I assumed it would be safe to use on my face. It removed my makeup, but naturally, I could taste the product even without it getting in my mouth just because of how scented it is.

It was as if I had eaten soap – not pleasant. Because of the strong scent, and a slight sticky feeling on my skin after using it, I didn’t feel clean. It felt like I still had cleanser on my face and a ton of chemicals.

I also noticed some redness and a little bit of itchiness after using. If you have sensitive skin or are sensitive to fragrance I suggest steering clear of this. I do have sensitive skin but I’m not sensitive to fragrance yet this was horrible.

I struggle with acne and sensitive skin. I get breakouts around the time of the month and when I stress. I have tried dermatologist prescribed acne cleansers, but they are too harsh on my skin and cause drying and peeling.

This doesn’t seem to cause any sort of drying or peeling after using it twice a day, in the am and pm. I follow it up with the snail rescue toner and the raw sauce and then the wild dew essence and the glass serum and then the black rice oil.

I have also purchased the black rice oil cream for my face. The entire combination of all the products has started clearing up my acne as well as it has prevented breakouts from appearing. I’m happy Ive finally found a product that allows me to clear up acne without sacrificing my skin.

This product absolutely changed my skin. I first got it during the winter, and it did dry my skin out. I stopped using it for several months until the summer when my skin was significantly oilier and needed some form of exfoliation.

I decided to go back to this and see if it would help my breakouts without irritating my skin. My OH MY!!!!! Within just 2 weeks, my skin transformed. My post-acne marks that used to be so noticeable and harsh on my forehead completely faded.

The fungal acne I had also vanished!! Yet, with no irritation. My skin looks so much smoother and clearer. Thank you so much for this product!! I can definitely see the thoughtfulness that was put in to the ingredients.

I mean, a cleanser with cica, hyaluronic acid, AND salycilic acid!! GOOD LORD!! It’s like a freakin superfood cleanser!.

I love this cleanser. It’s cleared my residual acne more gently than both my prescription retinol and benzoyl peroxide cream. It’s also worked wonders for clearing my boyfriend’s shoulder/back cystic acne.

He went from a bumpy witch-like back to smooth and no longer inflamed in just a week of treatment. I usually use this cleanser with a gentle silicone applicator in the shower before doing my evening moisturizer and routine.

This applied and removed with a strong moisturizer applied immediately after exiting the shower (I love the snail mucus one or the matcha cream!) leaves my skin clear, smooth, and hydrated. 10000/10 have personally turned 5 people onto using this product in their regular routine!.

I love this product. I have battled with what dermatologist told me was cystic acne. I researched that Salicylic Acid would not help cystic acne. Well I’ve have used the facial cleanser for about 3 weeks now and my “cystic” acne has completely resolved.

My only negative thing to say is the smell of the actual cleanser is hard to get use and will catch you off guard at first. I wash my face twice daily with this cleanser and moisturize with Derma E Vitamin C Renewing Moisturizer in the morning and at night with Derma E Vitamin C Concentrated Serum and Derma E Vitamin C Intense Night Cream.

I’m 32 years old and this has been the best combination I have found OTC that actually works. I so happy and excited I finally have clear skin.

I was super excited to get the opportunity to try this product. This was the first product I have ever used from this brand and I will have to say that I will continue to purchase their products. I will have to admit though once I first opened the bottle I was a little skeptical to use it because of the smell.

It was pretty strong but once I used the cleanser it made my face feel so refreshed and much more smoother. It cleaned really nicely and within just a couple of days it started clearing up my acne. My face feels more moisturized and not dried out.

Also the bottle is super convenient with the pump and is very easy to use. I will definitely continue using this product and I can’t wait to try some of their other products.

I was unable to find the exact product on Influenster. I was gifted pHisoderm Clean Blemish Prone facial cleanser by Chick Advisor. I like how simple the ingredients are and they don’t dry my skin out (which is common with a lot of acne washes).

It hasn’t irritated my skin and I will be using it for quite a while to see if anything changes.

Received pkg today. Used Cleanser right away. Such a nice orange scent, very subtle. Lathered very nicely and left my skin so clean and soft. No complaints. Can’t wait to use later tonight and make it a part of my regular routine.

I have other cleansers but haven’t used them regularly. This I feel I will. It doesn’t stink and isn’t waxy like the other cleansers I have. Plus the price is right too. Thank you for your great products.

Very much recommended to those on the fence. I don’t suffer from acne but am thinking of getting the acne Cleanser for my grandson.

I had been using both Soap and Glory milk cleanser along with No 7, both drug store brands but higher priced. Both did the job but neither of them made my face feel as amazing as after using this very clean-smelling (one of the few fragranced products I’ve tried) cleanser! I was worried when I read the reviews because I have severe dry eyes and I was concerned it would irritate them.

Thankfully it did not. For me anyway it’s very gentle but I feel like it really digs in there and gently but thoroughly removes the daily grime.

I don’t know if it’s just one of these or a combination of both but I’m thrilled about my results!!! I bought the Buf-Puf Gentle Facial Sponge and Neutrogena Oil-Free Salicylic Acid Pink Grapefruit Pore Cleansing Acne Wash and Facial Cleanser.

I started using them both on the same day. I’ve been using this combination once a day for only 4 days. My skin hasn’t looked this good and felt so smooth since I was a child!!! I do have sensitive skin and the sponge is a little much for my face BUT 20 minutes of a very mild discomfort after my nightly shower before bed is totally worth how my face looks and feels in the morning.

I’m not waking up with new pimples or blackheads like I have the majority of my life.

I’m actually giggling a bit to myself as I’m writing this review because it’s a drugstore cleanser and I love it 10x more than the $30 cleanser I just ran out of (which is not a drugstore brand). I say that because when I first started really paying attention skincare (I’m 29 and never had a skincare routine, and never washed off my makeup before bed) a year ago I was fortunate enough to have the financial capability to purchase high end skincare.

Naturally that’s what I did. A lot can change in a year, lol. I no longer can consistently purchase higher end stuff. I ran out of my previous cleanser, needed a new one, ran across this at CVS. This year I’ve gone through a lot of major change, which lead to stress, which lead to bad hormonal acne.

I’ve never had acne at all in 29 years of life aside from the occasional pimple. So when my skin started freaking out I decided to try to move to cleansers that would help clean my skin better as well as prevent breakouts and cure existing ones.

I’ve always heard really great things about neutrogena products but had never used them. The first Neutrogena cleanser I tried was a couple months ago and it was. I purchased it twice in a row. I liked it because it had vitamin c and it also seemed to help out with my breakouts.

However, I ended up going with this redness soothing one because once I stopped using the pink grapefruit cleanser and switched to a new drugstore cleanser, my hormonal acne came back. Even though I was still under tremendous stress using the pink grapefruit, it kept my breakouts at bay.

When I switched it up, the acne came back and left bad red dots on my face. And I just kept getting new random pimples. One would go away, next day a new one in a different place so I decided to give this a try and WOW.

I haven’t had a breakout in over a month of using this now and it really does calm down the redness in the pre-existing marks. The pink grapefruit definitely prevented the acne, it just didn’t give redness relief and I already was using multiple vitamin c products in my daily routine.

This cleanser does not leave me dry, and it does what it claims to do. It’s gentle and unless I wear a full face of makeup (rare) I haven’t even had to do a double cleanse. It really makes my face feel super fresh and clean in just 1 wash.

If you are someone that is prone to acne and acne marks, this is the stuff you need to be using because even the higher end brands didn’t do this for me. Highly recommend.

I am a middle aged woman (close to premenopausal). I have dealt with acne my whole life. The past year my acne has come out worse than ever! I even started going to a dermatologist, again. Which earlier this year I quit going to because nothing seemed to be working.

I still used the topical creams that I was prescribed and have tried numerous different facial cleansers, with no luck. Until I stumbled across this cleanser and I would try it. I have been using it for about a month now and I am AMAZED!!! I wash my face with this morning and night after removing my makeup and I also apply Benzoyl peroxide on my breakouts and my face has cleared up!!! I am so Happy!!!.

I suffer from PCOS so get oily and acne prone skin, mainly on my cheeks but also have combination type skin. I bought this a while ago and haven’t looked back since. It does a great job at cleansing and clearing up skin.

It removes excess oil and the foam makes a little go a long way. I use it after I have exfoliated and then soaked my face with a hot flannel. My only criticism and the reason it isn’t 5 stars from me is that it does such a great job at drying out acne but can leave my skin a little dry.

I am yet to find a moisturiser that doesn’t contribute to my acne/oily problem.

Iv only used it once but it’s already helped clear my skin and made me feel glowing. Soft on sensitive skin and a little does a lot. However the amount that’s in the bottle ( if you are using daily) may not last long.

Would recommend along side the moisturizer and definitely buy again! I use it once a week and whenever I get break outs however maximum results when used daily.
