20 Best Eyeliner That Doesn’T Smudge (2023 Updated)

The liquid is good conistency, dark and waterproof, the brush glides nicely and sharpely. ALL FOR ABOUT 2 USES. I first bought this liner couple years ago and it was amazing for about 2 purchases. Then i bought it again after i ran out and after couple uses, it started to bleed so badly out of the pen or the brush flares out.

I thought bad batch maybe. I purchase again, same thing. i waited a couple months to buy again, and same thing. I loved this eyeliner cuz its drugstore and super dark/waterproof. but its impossible to use the product, I have to grab a tissue blot off the excess runnyness, wasting ton of product.

even opening the lid after first couple uses become difficult, you have to open it hard then the already leaking liner splatters everywhere from the force. I tried laying it flat, standing, backwards, doesnt matter, its only perfect the first 2 times you use it and after the functionality of the pen is horrible.

I dont know who designed this, it had so much potential since the liquid product in it is actually amazing. but they obviously do not care as they are still producing the same dysfunctional product for years.

and I have retried this product so many times giving it too many chances hoping they fixed it. i have bought at least 6 now, and all only last me a week at most before it leaks, brush spreads out or dry up.

after reading the reviews Im glad I wasnt crazy and it really is just a horribly desgner product, at this rate its more worth to buy an expensive liner that actually lasts.

I have been using this powder for like 6 years, and I have never had issues with it!! I like the way it blurs and mattifies the skin. This is the only powder I’ve tried that minimizes creasing in my undereye area! I personally have very fair, normal/dry skin, and use low-medium coverage, water-based skin tint and concealer as my base makeup, and everyone’s needs for a powder are different.

This powder will give a lot of flashback if you’re heavy-handed with it, as it is supposed to be a finishing powder. It’s pure silica with no other ingredients or pigment to minimize flashback or provide other benefits to your makeup.

It’s definitely a “less is more” product IMO. I’ve mixed this product into other loose powders and I personally think it works great that way as well. I would highly recommend using a fluffy powder/blush brush to apply this to the face, or a smaller fluffy brush for harder-to-reach areas.

A damp sponge can be used if u are careful to tap off excess powder. TLDR: If you’re looking for something to bake with, provide coverage/brightening, or to *really* set a full-converage look, this might not be for you.

Some cream and liquid products may not work well on top of this powder, so use it as a finishing step to your makeup!.

Just adding yet another review about this liner have terrible issues leaking. I used to love this liner so I’m not sure what happened with the packaging. After a couple of uses and proper storage the tip leaks at the brush and a bit further back on the plastic tip.

I literally have a blotting cloth on my vanity specifically for it. Even with pre-blotting it leaks into my lash line or if I don’t notice the bubble forming on the plastic tip in time it leaks onto my lash tips directly into my eye.

This is not one liner it’s done this with. My last 4 or so have all done this and so do the Lift and Snatch brow pens (which seems to be the same type of packaging) – which I also love but I feel like I’m going to have to try a different brand until this issue is finally fixed.

I had to do that with an eyeliner pen. My most recent Epic Ink liner is just sitting in my makeup case because I can’t bear to throw it out but it’s just straight up unusable. Its really too bad because I found this liner applied dark, opaque, matte, and smooth as butter, lasted all day even with my allergies and still washed off easily (no staining) before the leaking issue started.

Will not purchase again until the company acknowledges the issue and announces they have fixed it.

I thought I’d try Lancome eyeliner because I have a lot of Lancome products that I still use. I’ve purchased it on HSN and in the past at Macys. Well, yes this goes on like butter, but it’s too wet for me.

There is an art to applying this, but I still don’t care for it. It washes off too easily and flakes during the day. The best liquid eyeliner that I do like is from Laura Geller. I find that she doesn’t make it anymore or she’s out of it.

At least her eyeliner stayed on until the next morning and was very easy to apply. There are a lot of people who have purchased this particular eyeliner at Macys, so I’m sure for them, it is something they really love.

I personally don’t care for it. I think I’ll try Stilla next time.

I have several of these, replacing the pencils of a representative-only brand that I no longer like. I have really liked these pencils. For those that complain about sharpening these – I’m not sure if they got a bad pencil, have a dull sharpener, or just don’t know how to sharpen these given so many pencils these days are twist-up ones.

I am using a sharpener from that afore-mentioned brand (cost $1) that is at least 6 yrs old, and have had no issue w/ sharpening the Epic Wear pencils. My only complaint is that the tip does seem to wear a fair bit if tightlining compared to using as “normal”.

I don’t know if I’m pressing harder or because inner lids are warmer that outer lids so it’s “melting” the pencil more as I draw.

The liner is a long-lasting, waterproof formula that I can honestly say has been tried and tested in the various London weather we have had this week and it hasn’t budged once. Once the eyeliner dries in place that sucker isn’t going anywhere.

I have tried so many black liners over the last maybe 15 years and I can say I have never tried a liner so black in my life. The colour of this liner is so pigmented it almost surprised me when I applied it first time.

This pen has the perfect flexible brush tip that contains over 800 vegan bristles to really help create that perfect eyeliner look. Using this liner I have created some of the most subtle liner looks I have ever done and then on the other side of the scale the most intense out there looks.

Overall I have to say I bloody love this eyeliner and think it knocks my usual liners out of the park. I think I can understand why Rare Beauty took over 2 years to originally make because each product I have tried is just perfection.

They are some of the most flawless products I have had the pleasure of using since Tilbury which we know is a lot coming from me.

I got this as the ones I usually use were out of stock and it was an okay price. The packaging is absolutely awesome, and feels such beautiful quality I really wanted to love the product, but the liner itself isn’t as good as the other ones I’ve used.

Good points: Lovely quality brush and the slim wand feels luxurious and is well weighted so feels brilliant to hold. Looks nice too. Easier to put on due to this. Not so good: The liner formula itself isn’t as black as I like / am used to, so it goes on looking watery and grey.

I need to go over it 2-3 times to get any intensity and even then it’s not as slick black as I would like. Also it fades on me, despite using over a base and powder, so there’s no reason it shouldn’t last.

It is semi-gone by lunch time and only lingering at the end of the day. No real shape or flicks remain. Luckily I find it doesn’t flake for me, just fades and starts looking washed out before disappearing.

Such a shame because the wand / brush makes drawing a gorgeous line easy. It’s better than no liquid liner, hence the 3 stars but I wouldn’t buy it again unless they reformulate it. Might be okay for people who really love a very natural look, although liquid liner is usually a bit cleaner and slick looking.

I really really wish this worked for me. I loved the brush tip and the shape of the applicator. The brush tip was soft and I liked how you could build up the opacity either. Wore it for the first time on a hot day, but after an hour or so, it was smudgy on my eyelids and I mean smudgy!! I thought maybe it was the sunscreen mixed with sweat, so I gave it another shot.

The second time I used it on top of some eye shadow, no sunscreen, no sweating. It held up a little better, but after a few hours, the opacity of the liner definitely faded and there was smudging, albeit a bit less smudging when compared with no eyeshadow.

I want a liner that stays put and doesn’t need any shadow or setting spray to hold it and make it long lasting. Stila Stay All Day liner does it for me, but I was looking for something different since the felt tip can be irritating for my eyelids.

Wish Rare Beauty’s held up in comparison, I wanted to love it, but it just fell really short.

If you plan to use this as a traditional, line above your lashes, cat eye liner, it is terrible! It’s on the dry side, skips, and good luck getting the same look on each eye. I was going to chuck it after first use.

So why the four? Because on a whim I tried it in my upper waterline the next day, and for that, it’s PERFECT. It is the only formula I have tried that doesn’t smudge or transfer to the lower waterline.

It doesn’t irritate the eye, it lasts through the day, removes easily (I double cleanse), and is super affordable. I chopped onions, got super teary, and it stayed put! It just lets you have that thick lash, super natural look that lining the waterline gives you with none of the downside.

It’s what I wanted Urban Decays waterline eyeliner to be (it wasn’t). So if you like that look/technique – pick this up. If you want a traditional liner, move on!.

I purchased this due to multiple recommendations online stating it is one of the best waterline eyeliners available. On Amazon it was under $2, what a steal! I put it in my waterline and it did take a few swipes to build it up to the deep black pigment I was looking to achieve.

Three hours later I looked in the mirror and it was still in my waterline exactly the same as when I’d applied it! Most eyeliners are well worn off by then in my waterline, as I have watery eyes upon applying liner to my waterline, when its windy, or if the car vents blow on my face.

At the end of the night I looked in the mirror before washing my face and it was still there in my waterline. I really do like this and the price is amazing. It isn’t the most pigmented retractable liner or the easiest gliding on the eyelid, but it does last all day and can create a nice line.

I wish I had known about this eyeliner sooner! The formula is amazing, not only is the eyeliner extremely black but even better the felt tip is flexible enough that it glides nicely and the tip helps create the perfect wing.

I have slightly hooded eyes and this is the first waterproof eyeliner that actually stays and sits well with my natural oils. It does not fade! The clip shows you how hard I rubbed and it barely budge, of course this is literally right after I applied it, but the longer you let it set the harder it is to come off.

I have tried this in the gym and it stays even with a face full of sweat! I definitely recommend this product!.

First off, I was super excited to try out my brand new Neutrogena eyeliner pen that I purchased last week. When I went to use it, the whole pen was completely dried out. Im not sure if I just got a defective one or what happened.

I never took it out of the original packaging. So for this Halloween spider look I was going for, I ended up using my good old faithful wet n wild liquid black eyeliner pen. Waterproof. I will be contacting Neutrogena about this product and seeing if there were other people who have complained with this batch of eyeliner pens.

I wanted to give it 5 stars. But unfortunately it was un-usable.

Exactly what I was looking for. I have less youthful skin than I used to, and it’s hard to get a smooth looking line when I apply pencil liners. I tried some other gel liners, and they were fine but so expensive and did not last.

This one is better than those, and lasts longer! The easy smooth application without being smudgy, the smooth straight line it makes, thinness of the self-sharpening tip, the intensity of the black color, lasting power (all day), and how easy it is to use have made me a big fan! I haven’t tried to smudge it for a smokey look yet, but I think it would work for that too.

the best!! the colour is so dark and looks amazing on the waterline! I dont use any other kohl after trying this! absolute essential. Lasts really well, reapplies amazing! My eye type makes it easy for kohl to smudge since I squint my eyes a lot, but I found if you apply concealer and powder under your eyes immediately after applying the kohl, it doesn’t transfer! this is my absolute favourite kohl eyeliner!!.

I have used this eyeliner since highschool (30 years old now) and so have all of my sisters. It’s the blackest eyeliner I’ve tried, and I’ve tried many! My one complaint is the applicator, I like to do a wing and the applicator is pretty thick so it’s hard to get a precise point, so I tried other eyeliners at Sephora, drugstores, everywhere, and none compared to this one.

Instead of switching eyeliners, since I love the formula so much, I switched the applicator with a thinner one and I basically Frankenstein-ed it fit the bottle. Love this eyeliner, and will never cheat on Almay again, buy it.

I exclusively use liquid eyeliner for many years now. And it’s always hard to find a great long lasting something that doesn’t give racoon eyes shortly after applying. Almay is a great trusted brand that always goes on smooth without creasing it lasts all day without worry.

This product comes with alot in it so you get alot for your money, if your buying Almay you know that your getting a great brand for a reasonable price I always recommend Almay products to my family and friends and will definitely be buying this liner again!.

I’ve used this product for years and liked it. However, my new bottle has a different applicator. It feels like a hard sponge. It’s much more difficult to get an even fine line with this sponge. I wish Almay would bring back the original small paint-brush style applicator.

In the meantime I’ll be looking elsewhere for eyeliner.

I used Milani infinite for many years and was so sad that they discontinued it. I have tried every expensive brands with promises that they are waterproof and stays put all day and nothing still holds up.

I tried the Milani tank eyeliner and that smudge almost immediately. This Stay Put eyeliner it’s definitely not waterproof and will run immediately with water contact and needs to be reapplied throughout the day because it flakes off and smudges in my mono lid within 30 mins of application.

Although this eye liner is not perfect it is the only one I found so far that is next best to the beloved discontinued Infinite eye liner. I have not tried the Eye tech Milani liquid eyeliner yet. Can somebody let me know if it’s better than Stay Put? Like it is actually waterproof, does not smudge, and flake off during the day? For example I would be able to go to hot yoga with Infinite.

I would also like to know why infinite it was discontinued??? I think we deserve to know, was it harmful?.

I was a faithful user of the Infinite Liquid Eyeliner for YEARS! I used it because it was literally waterproof and smudge proof. I could swim or shower with it and it was stay put. When it was discontinued I bought this one with the same expectation, since it says it’s 17 hour wear.

Well it’s NOT. The first time I wore this was to a funeral, I cried. and it came off. About a week later I was working out, started sweating and when I wiped my sweat it rubbed off. I feel like this is just like any other liquid eyeliners.

It shouldn’t tout 17 hour wear either. Very disappointed customer that Infinite was discontinued, and that Milani thought this was a better replacement.

Milani helped me save face! I was so pleased with my eye makeup yesterday, playing with the Too Faced Sweet Peach pallet, until pollen wrecked my eyeliner! I grabbed a Milani Stay Put Matte Eyeliner at the drugstore on my way to work, fixed the liner – and it really did STAY PUT through a crazy busy shift! I’ve only recently switched from eye pencils to pens so I was apprehensive about going in with a liquid liner but this was perfect.

Maybelline Cosmetics is a drugstore makeup product that you can purchase from Walmart, Meijers, Walgreens, CVS, Riteaid, or at Ulta Beauty.

This eyeliner is around $9. 99, comes in different colors especially in the shade black. I purchased this eyeliner pencil because I was looking for a good eyeliner pencil to use in my waterline and also because a popular Youtuber bragged about how great this eyeliner pencil performed in the inner rim of yours eyes and how pigmented the color is and how well it glided on.

I was not impressed with this eyeliner pencil, Yes it is pigmented, and user-friendly but the eyeliner itself is so thin it kept breaking off at the tip. I didn’t even hardly roll up the eyeliner very far, Just enough where I could apply it to my inner rim of my eyes.

I can actually say that I probably wasted half of product because it kept breathing off at the tip. I even used light pressure and just the right amount of rolled up eyeliner. The color did stay inside my waterline, but too me it’s just not worth the time or money if the tip keeps breaking off.

I wished that Maybelline made the eyeliner just a little bit thicker, than we would of had a stand out product.

My experience of using Maybelline products were good and that’s the main reason I like to buy more of it. I am not very fond of makeups which is the reason of me not giving a 5 star but still whenever I use a minimal amount I mostly use Maybelline colossal eyeliners.

It’s very smooth and gives a prominent look to eyes which is very catchy and attractive. Also describes one’s personality. I really loved using it and am still a fan of Maybelline products.

Amazing eyeliner! Love the deep point, so easy to glide on a perfectly wide or narrow line. Feels, wears, smudges, applies, and looks like kohl. Works above and below lashline and on waterline. Good on brows, too.

I have searched for the perfect liquid liner and have tried many. They always end up being too dry or having no staying power. I just never could find the perfect combo. I was definitely reluctant to get this because it does have a higher price tag but, I will gladly pay the price if it is exactly what I need.

So far, so good! I do like the fact that it has 2 separate ends so you can get you wing exactly how you want and then switch to the other side go start filling in. It stays put like it should and this has always been a major issue for me since I have allergies that make my eyes water at times.

Now the only thing I hope for is that the liner doesn’t run out to quickly. As of now, it’s a win. I will know within a few weeks if I want to purchase again for the price when I figure out how long it will last.

I have always had slightly hooded eyes but now, at 49, they’re obviously worse. To top that off, I have had Dry Eyes for the past few years ago my eyes are pretty much constantly tearing (most all liners bleed and smear at the outside corners of my eyes due to this).

The only one that lasted was It Superhero liner, which I’ve used and been happy with for 4-5 years. The only issue I had with it was that it would transfer to my upper lid throughout the day so I always had that black line there and hated it.

I had basically given in to the fact that I just had to deal with it. Well THANK GOD that I found an article that suggested Stila All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner (I got the dual-ended once) bcz I LOVE it! There is never any transfer and it looks flawless.

It dries matte, it stays put, it’s easy to use and I couldn’t be happier!.

The original all day waterproof stilla eyeliner is amazing!! It has been my go to for many years! I was leaving on a trip and realized I needed a new eyeliner so I rushed to my nearest ulta and they were out of stock.

I was recommended this option and thought cool, same formula and two application options. Wrong! This is nothing like the original! It doesn’t last all day despite wearing primer and setting spray, it fades, crumbles and ends up under my eyes! The worst part is that the tip starts drying before I even complete my wing on each eye so I have to continuously cap it and shake it just to put eyeliner on.

Because of this the end results are always patchy. I would avoid this like the plague! It’s terrible! Stick to the original!.

The bareMinerals Maximist Liquid Liner I tried was in the shade Maximist Black. According to bareMinerals, the liner is colored with mineral pigments and it is also a clean beauty item, vegan, and cruelty-free.

The liner is a waterproof vegan formula that uses a microalgae complex to promote thicker lashes. I have not used this product long enough to know if there are benefits of thicker lashes, but I appreciate the vegan formula and the concept of an eye makeup product that also improves my lashes during use.

I have not worn this eyeliner in water to check if it is truly waterproof, but I tried a smudge test on my wrist and was very impressed with the liner’s staying power, as it did not smudge or move at all when I rubbed my finger against it five minutes after application.

I did not try to smudge it around my eye area, but after application it stayed in place. This liner is fragrance free and has a flexible brush that allows me to apply liner gently in the delicate eye area.

The tip is thin and precise. The packaging is advertised as made with 50% post-consumer recycled plastic and the size of the liner is 3 ml, which I find to be an appropriate size. Overall, I enjoyed this product because of its easy application and significant staying power.

I am more inclined to purchase items that are vegan, cruelty-free, clean beauty, and use bio-friendly packaging than are not, so if purchasing an eyeliner I would reach for this product and recommend it to others for those reasons, as well as its excellent performance.

The eyeliner I have been using religiously was discontinued last year and I’ve been searching for a replacement ever since. I’ve used eyeliner (wing and cat-eye) for 20+ years now so I’ve tried many brands and applicators.

I gotta say this formula is really nice. It goes on incredibly smooth. Even lines, WITH NO SKIPPING! Dries quickly which is great since I have hooded eyes and liner that takes long to dry ends up smeared on my eyelids.

And if you do make a mistake the formula cleans up super easy. My last eyeliner was a pain to remove if you needed to do any cleanup. This kind I was able to easily use a q-tip to clean up a too thick line.

Yet, the formula had great wear. Held up through the day and washed off easily in the evening. My only complaint would be that I wish it was a little darker/more pigmented. At times I have to go over my line because the first pass doesn’t look very black.

Unfortunately, as you can probably already tell by my rating, that’s not what we’re going to be doing today. I wanted to love this pencil more. Out of the box, the product is very promising. It’s a beautiful shade of azurite blue and I loved how it is also retractable.

That in itself deserves a star. The other one comes from delivering what it’s intended to do. That is, coloring my eyes, which it does very well with good payoff. Now for the cons. Maybe I’ve been spoiled by my Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils, but this “gel” pencil is not as creamy as the other reviews tout it to be.

It’s hard to apply with a brush, which is what I like to do when I work with pencils, and once it’s on it don’t budge. It’s even a struggle to remove with makeup wipes. Miss KVD, I don’t need my makeup to be THIS waterproof.

My biggest gripe, however, is the way the formula clumps up on my eyelashes. At first, I thought I was using it wrong, but after three attempts at trying to line my lash line I realized it’s not me. It can’t be when my UO eyeliners don’t even do this to me.

It was so bad that I actually thought I was going to lose my lashes trying to remove the buildup. And curling them??? Let’s just say it was the first time I ever *felt* my lashes because of how heavy and tacky the formula is.

All things considered, two stars is pretty generous for something with a learning curve as difficult as this one. I expected better quality from KVD and will prob use this mostly to line my waterline or for graphic liner going forward.
