Best Extracurriculars For Ivy League (2026 Updated)

I bought this Dewalt DCL043 in mid-June of 2020 for $45 on a DOTD. I wanted to wait to write a review until I had an opportunity to use it in real-world situations. I’ve used it about a dozen times now, so here’s the TL;DR bullet point review: Pros: Super bright Seems well-built The pivoting head is very useful Sits on a floor or bench securely without tipping when sitting upright, or rolling away when the head is pivoted 90 degrees into a more traditional flashlight shape Long battery life even from my little 1.

5ah batteries Did I mention it’s very bright? Cons: It’s HUGE. Very, very large. Takes up quite a bit of space in the bottom of my 22-inch portable toolbox. Desperately needs selectable brightness modes! You have three VERY bright, useless dim red, and off.

I would love to see this light upgraded with Hi,Med,Low settings! Using this while piled under the sink in a bathroom vanity was almost uncomfortable because of the overkill of light. Summary: This would have been a five star product for me if it had selectable brightness modes.

I can even tolerate the excessively huge design, but man the lack of brightness settings is a bummer. Still, I love this light and I’m happy with my purchase.

Back when I was a teen, my parents proudly presented me when a Craftsman cordless drill and spotlight combo. The spotlight was a favorite of mine, but it ALWAYS blew out it’s little bulb, just a slight jostle was all it took.

After replacing the bulb four times, I got frustrated and left it in it’s case. Fast-forward a couple decades, my parents (yes, they spoil me!!) bought me a DeWalt cordless vacuum with two batteries for Christmas.

I saw this on a slight sale after Christmas and decided to get it. WOW. Don’t stare at this thing when you turn it on. Seriously. You will injure your eyes. Even the lower-brightness red setting is more than sufficient to light up a room.

While I know from study and experience that LED’s are more robust than bulbs, I still wondered how durable this spotlight is. Well, I had to help my dad replace a pump in the washing machine recently, and this spotlight was a clutch tool.

It was left on for just over four hours, and barely used any of my 3 aH battery’s capacity. Also, it was kicked, knocked over, and accidentally bashed around inside the washing machine repeatedly in those four hours.

Nothing burned out! So as you’ve likely gathered, I am stoked to have a portable spotlight back in my tool arsenal, and more stoked that I know it won’t burn out if I so much as gently bump it. Given the price of DeWalt’s batteries, this may or may not be a worthwhile purchase for you if you need to buy a battery for this.

BUT, if you have one of these 20v MAX batteries, I’d strongly suggest looking into this spotlight.

Both the new & old versions have the same model number. The new version Type 2 is 1500 lumen, 2 brightness settings for white light, no red light, no belt clip and is in a cardboard box. The old version Type 1 is 1000 lumens, 1 brightness setting for white light, 1 brightness setting for the red light, comes with a belt clip and is in a plastic blister pack.

I believe there is some small print on one side of the spotlight itself that indicates Type 1 or Type 2. These are the only differences that I can tell from the research I did. The same model number causes confusion and it would be nice if DeWalt would change this.

Purchased just before a camping trip to Enderby BC. The campground was nice but right by the river and mosquitoes were awful. It lit up OK with the butane cartridge and pads supplied with the unit but when they were used up, installed new ones from the refill package.

Trying several times over a roughly two hour period, the unit wouldn’t light. Could hear the gas, and there was a “whoosh” when the ignitor was pressed, but no heat (these units use heat generated from butane combustion to heat a pad containing pyrethroids to release insect repelling fumes).

Even when it works, the slightest breeze carries the fumes from the pad away, leaving little protection. The idea of a mobile unit with a belt clip is a bit misleading since any movement will leave the fumes behind offering no protection.

It might work in a still environment. Dad used to use those old green coils in the car (with all windows open) on those hot summer nights in southern Ontario when we went as a family to drive in movies and I recall much better results (of course the formulation may have been different back in the 60’s).

The coils these days contain an active ingredient that is basically the same as the pads used in the Thermacell and cost a lot less. Overall, quite a disappointment.

This is the second season that I have used my 300. I always swore by it, and recommended it to anyone that asked about it. Those were usually times when we were on our deck, by the fire ring, or while I was on my tractor during the day.

However, last week we were eating outside on our deck , and I had my Thermacell running. Suddenly, my wife laughed, and told me that there were two mosquitoes flying within a foot of the unit. I was extremely skeptical, and had to see this myself.

I went back to our table, where the Thermacell was hanging from our umbrella, and watched as mosquitoes were flying around and by it like it wasn’t even there. I figured maybe it was a weak pad, as I had used this one for an hour or so earlier in the day.

No harm, no foul, things happen. Tonight I had taken the unit with me, into my yard, with a fresh fuel cell, and brand new out of the packet, fresh pad. I hung the Thermacell on the side of my tractor , and went back inside for a few minutes, to give it a chance to build it’s zone.

I went back out, and began working on the tractor, and sure enough I was being eaten alive, and there were mosquitoes flying merely inches away from the unit, that was actually emitting a faint hint of smoke from the pad! I don’t know what has happened, but this product no longer works for me.

It ignites, heats the blue pads, and is occasionally hot enough to smoke a bit, so it is functioning, but it is most definitely not doing it’s job.

Purchased four Regency Captains Chairs with wheels that are an exact match to four I had purchased a while ago for our card players in our clubhouse. They are great with one exception. I don’t like the padding in the seat – it seems a bit uncomfortable.

But overall I’m pleased.

We are so excited about our new chairs. We purchased them to replace decorator/upholstered game table chairs that had been used with a poker table in our vacation rental property. The Regency Captain Chairs are just what we needed.

They seem sturdy enough to withstand the constant wear and tear of renters and actually give the area a much nicer look. The price, quality and ease of order and shipment add to our satisfaction. We are very HAPPY!!.

I purchased this chair for my Mom to use while they are visiting me. She has significant health issues that have resulted in falling out of her regular dining room chair a couple of times. My father had purchased one of these chairs for her for this past Christmas, and she has found it very comfortable and it has been very supportive for her.

Overall we have been very pleased with the product so I bought her this one so she can enjoy the same level of comfort when she is visiting my house. The chair at home has stood up very well these last 9 months to nearly constant use by my overweight mother.

Terrible plants, terrible customer service for anything Hirt’s. absolutely ridiculous shipping quality, which causes damage, crushing and soil to be spilled everywhere. Do not purchase this brand.

3 of my 4 small pots of plants are doing well. One seem to be completely dead but I’m leaving it since English Ivy plants are hardy. One plant all the leaves fell off but one remains so I have to wait for the rest to come out.

The other 2 are doing well. I see new growth after 2weeks of being put in my new terrarium.

I have been looking for a lamp like this for some time, and one from a reputable manufacturer. It is very versatile because it could be useful for outdoor activities like camping or within the home. Although I have not had the opportunity to take it with me on a camping trip yet, its potential uses are obvious.

Not only does it provide an extremely bright light (there are two other settings to choose from too if dimmer lighting is required), it can also be used as a charger for electronics via its USB port.

It is constructed so that it is durable enough to withstand normal wear and tear, and it is water resistant too. I am a night owl and I am often outside with my dog in the early hours of the morning in the pitch dark.

I have started to take my lamp outside with me to provide adequate light as well as added security. I have tested out the claim that the lamp provides a strong light after a Smart Phone charge, and can confirm that this is the case.

It is a very useful feature to have, especially if the power goes out and I cannot charge my phone. In any case, should a power outage occur, then this lamp would come into its own and is far preferable to lighted candles, plus it provides far more light.

I am pleased to have this piece of equipment as it gives me peace of mind and is very efficient.

Wow, is this ever a handy thing to have! We experience some pretty long power outages where we live and this lantern is going to be something we really count on! This has great features, it does run on D batteries and doesn’t come with them.

Staying at home during the health crisis, I had to scrounge around to find some here. I was so surprised by the absolute brightness of this thing on the highest setting. Amazing. There are actually 3 settings, really bright, not as bright and then nightlight.

This is really going to come in handy. The most exciting feature is that it has a USB port to charge your phone! Since this uses LED lights, the D batteries should last a really long time. Although I haven’t put this to the ultimate test, I am happy to have this in my home and would recommend this product!.

Generally speaking, I DISLIKE lanterns for INDOOR use, primarily because they offer too much glare. If you set one in the center of the room, your eyes are drawn to it, and then as your iris closes you can’t see much else.

However for OUTDOOR use, you don’t have much of an option. The Light Fusion Technology of this lantern truly sets it apart. It spreads the hot spot (that produces glare) out throughout the light panel so broadly that glare is essentially eliminated.

I really like the beam of this lantern! Additionally a BIG PLUS for this lantern is that it has a regulated light output. That means that it has circuitry to manage the power to the lantern from the batteries so that it will maintain the same level of light, a consistent level of light, until the batteries are depleted.

Other lanterns get dimmer and dimmer as the batteries deplete and get crazy long run-times but at increasingly lower levels of light. This lantern also has a digitally adjustable light out put. You can set it at whatever level of light is most comfortable, with the consideration that brighter means less run-time, less bright means longer run-times.

A friend wrote this. “Runtimes on high seemed to come in at about 3. 5hrs for 4xAA and just shy of 7hrs for 8xAA loads (under warm summer conditions with Alkaline disposable batteries). Lowering the light level just a small amount led to dramatic increases in runtime, so much so that I terminated testing because I got bored.

” The 300 lumen output on high is absolutely believable, and as stated. consistent for the duration of its run-time. Considering that there are many AA battery chargers that can plug into a car’s power port, and the fact that this lantern will run on rechargeable AA batteries or standard alkalines, this lantern is an excellent choice for weekend camping, or for power outages.

I modified mine by adding a USB cable (by soldering it to the battery box) so that it can run from a re-chargeable power bank. IMO the product can be improved by adding a USB input. It runs fine on the 5 volt output of power banks.

I was trying to get close to blue Sunbrella cushions that I have, and it was as close to a perfect match as possible. The umbrella is sturdy, put together very well. The crank is easy to operate to open it, and the collar-tilt function is very nice and works very well.

I don’t even have to leave my chaise lounge to operate it. I’m hoping for many years of enjoyment out of it. Originally I wanted a smaller 7. 5′ umbrella, but couldn’t find one anywhere with tilt, everyone was out of stock.

But I’m glad I ended up with the 9′ size, it looks very nice and isn’t too big at all.

We were looking for a patio umbrella for a new teak table. The key was that it matched the Sunbrella Palm fabric on our outdoor furniture, had a crank and auto tilt. This umbrella fit the bill. As patio umbrellas go, this is on the low price end for an 11 footer.

However, you still get a quality piece of equipment. The crank and auto tilt are easy to use – and a necessity for an umbrella that is in the middle of a large table. The Sunbrella fabric is somewhat thin compared to other umbrellas that we have and the mechanism on this umbrella is adequate, but not on the high end.

However, its also not a $1000 umbrella. The double vents are nice to reduce wind impact on the umbrella and the color was an exact match for us. At this price point. I would recommend. I would only caution if you live in extremely high wind areas.

In which case you probably should spend a lot more for a heavier duty umbrella.

This is my second of this exact California Umbrella. Both times last 9 months total (we take down after summer) Each time the pressed fitting just got loose and collapses the umbrella. Better off buying a discount cheap umbrella and throw it away rather than spending more THINKING you are getting quality.

California Umbrella has to know this design flaw. Shrugged me off the first time and takes NO RESPONSIBILITY for their product. Always rude too Find another company.

If you’re wanting something that doesn’t make your house smell like food or sweet flowers this candle is it! Love the smell and scent combinations. Would definitely buy again.

Waaaaaay overpriced- even on sale. Stem only- not in a pot ( it is described without a pot so the description is valid) but in person it just doesn’t warrant the price. It is very realistic and good quality – (not as full looking in person either )just going to look for a more reasonably priced item.

They are really good quality. I needed them for a corner hanging plant, so I only needed one bunch per pot. If you are going to use this for a lower space, I would consider buying another 2-pack to fill it out.

Easy to bend and mold!.

very cheapy plastic . doesnt look real. very sparsely done. can buy at walmart or the dollar store for 3 dollars or less. wont be buying another one for sure.

I bought this microscope for my eight year old granddaughter. She loves it. Even though I had it shipped directly to her and have not seen it myself, her parents tell me that it is very well constructed and that the optics are excellent.

All in all, it appears to be a great buy for the money.

I ordered a microscope that was very decently priced. So much so that I was afraid it would be junk, but it’s exquisite. It arrived quickly and works wonderfully. I also ordered the periodic table of elements poster and some gorgeous enamel pins.

Better than I imagined! I love this microscope. Bought this to see sperm and I can see them in perfect detail! Tail and all! Definitely recommend this scope! I’ve never used a microscope and this was easy to use! It does not come with blank slides, only premade ones so get a package of blank slides too!.

So, I installed this GFCI receptable on an exterior wall (outdoor). The quality is poor. This GFCI trips so easily it only works 50% of the time. My previous outlet GFCI lasted me 10years doing the same things I’m doing with it now, but this one lasted maybe 3 weeks.

It initially worked fine and didn’t trip often, now it trips and I have to keep resetting the darn thing almost every other time I attempt to use it. My equipment is only drawing a 12amp draw as well.

Isn’t this made with a 15amp draw in mind? I would not get this again, but I’m getting another brand.

the only minor complain i have is every other GFCI i have purchased came with face plates, these didn’t. that said these are a great quality and compared to Lowes they are a bit cheaper. install is straight forward.

the load side or the GFCI is covered with yellow tape so its idiot proof and makes sure a novice doesn’t get the line and load mixed up because it makes or breaks a GFCI install. at best a incorrect wiring of a GFCI will not provide any protection at worst some GFCIs will trip if wired wrong and not allow you to reset it leaving an idiot perplexed.

Disclaimer: the statement “idiot proof” is used loosely since there are various degrees of idiot. some idiots simply need instructions. other idiots get it wrong even with simple instructions and kill themselves.

Electric work tends to weed out the idiots and dispose of them. lol. If you consider yourself an idiot or arnt comfortable with BBQing yourself accidentally please get someone like a licensed electrician to put this in for you.

Like a previous reviewer, I bought this to use as a dive light. At first, I liked it very much — the beam was bright and the angled head seemed to work for me — but as I progressed, the appeal started to wear off.

It’s relatively large for a light of that rating; it’s powerful enough to serve as a backup light, or even as a primary with enough ambient light, but the size makes it ungainly and difficult to stow or clip off on your rig.

You’d need to put it in a pocket to stay streamlined, because you don’t want stuff dangling or dragging or getting caught in other stuff, and what with your spare mask, your wet notes, your reel, and your SMB, pocket space will be at a premium.

It’s too big to clip off to one of your D-rings and bungee to your strap, so carrying it becomes a tad awkward. In sum, it’s a good light for casual rec diving, but if you want to go tec, this is not the light for you.

(In fairness, it never flooded on me and it’s probably great for camping, hiking, exploring, etc. I’d give it two and a half stars if I could. ) Oh, and the shape makes changing the batteries a serious headache.

Bought this to replace a League 100 that fell apart after the Duracell battery leaked. Duracell agreed to pay for the replacement, so kudos to them. This is brighter but the same size. Highly recommended.

My only suggestion would be to somehow figure out how to have different light levels so that the batteries last longer, when you don’t really need as much light. Have’t found any dive lights that do this, but it is something to consider.

The chair looks really nice, but it was horrible to assemble. There are no pre-drilled holes for the screws to go into. You’re only given a small wrench to tighten the larger screws. There were 8 smaller screws that used a screwdriver and I had NO issues with them.

The screws are super hard to get to turn and easily stripped so you’re stuck. I even enlisted help and they couldn’t get the screws to tighten enough either. I’ve put dozens of chairs, tables, etc. , together so I’m no stranger to hard to read instructions or just wrong instructions.

Again, the chair is nice and comfortable, but not worth the money with the assembly issues. Now I have to paint the screws I couldn’t get to in all the way and I’m going to super glue the plugs in for the screws I did get in so they don’t fall out.

I purchased two and the other one is being returned to the store.

I ordered two of these for my front porch. They look just like the picture. They are plenty large and comfortable. Nice solid smooth wood. A small word of warning: the eucalyptus wood is a raw and natural product.

The chairs will weather to a gray color if you do nothing. I prefer them to remain the rich brown color which coordinates with our house color. I will oil them with linseed oil (the company’s recommended oil) before they are ready to face the weather.

They recommend I oil the chairs twice a season. If you want effortless outdoor furniture, find something different. Pros: Easy to assemble (my teen sons did it) and solid Cons: Takes a bit of work to keep them brown and shiny.

Very happy with these chairs so far. We bought 2 as retirement presents to each other. Easy to assemble and look great. Excellent customer service from manufacturer when i discovered a nut was missing, it was in the mail the next day! Looking forward to spending many hours rocking out in the sunshine.

True to size! color: Ivory/Black Comes without a removable pad. or padded. You can’t see through it, but I would prefer a padded one. I took size m, which is a little big. I ordered black size s and the black is perfect in the size for me.

fit True to size. material soft.

First of all, I’m barely 5’ tall and the torso is not too long. Also I was concerned bc the straps don’t adjust. But luckily they are stretchy enough so they don’t need to. Yay! It is a little hard to keep them from twisting tho.

Also I love that the straps are crossed in the back. I sometimes have issues with them falling off my shoulders. Last, I appreciate the thong back with NO snaps to hurt my lady bits. This is the first thing I wear out of the laundry (hang dry, of course!).

Fits true to size. I’m 5,5”, slender/fit, 125 lbs, 32c, size 4, and the small fits perfectly! The material is comfortable and the fit is very flattering. You can wear it zipped down but I prefer it zipped all the way up.

Might even buy it in black :).
