20 Best Extra Wide Ironing Board (2023 Updated)

I love this ironing board. I research every purchase a lot and I’m pleased with the decision I made. I have two improvement suggestions. The first, on the iron rest board for placing the steam generator are waved ridges.

I have a steam generator iron which has soft rubber feet. The rubber feet do not touch the board and instead balance on the ridges. I would suggest removing the waved ridges and just having a flat surface.

Second, there is a small gap between the iron rest board and the ironing board. This means that the cord for the iron frequently gets stuck. There should be a loop or other change made so that this does not happen.

Other than these two issues, the board is great. I love the size. It is easy to put up and get down. It is quite heavy but this is not a problem for me.

Not happy with the quality of the product. I would expect a higher quality product for the money I havespent.

Allerdings fällt es mir schwer, jetzt nochmal Geld auszugeben für eine Halterung, da das Brett eh schon teuer ist und bei dem sich die Firma ja mit „jahrelanger Entwicklung und durchdachtem Design“ brüstet.

Durchdacht ist es eigentlich nur, wenn man weiß, dass sich da was verklemmt und das dann eben gleich mit verkauft.

I particularly like the iron rest. No chance for the iron to fall out of it! It’s the best ironing board I have ever had. Would recommend it.

Best ironing board I have bought, I have had other brands which have proved very flimsy. Great feature is the locking clips which make it easier to carry.

Good solid height adjustable board, only downside is no iron cord stem/bracket/lifter- to stop cord chaffing and dragging items off surface while using.

This is a luxury home ironing board, that I wish I had purchased years ago. I love to sew, and this makes each project professional & faster (coupled with my. New Reliable Iron). I wish the web site had made the cord holder more visible and recommended it.

I ordered it after getting the board, and discovering that the cord got caught between the board and the Iron stand. If I had ordered it at the same time as the board I would not have had the large shipping charge for the cord holder.

the cord holder needs instructions on how to best install it. I think that the best way is on the right front corner, so the swivel stand folds parallel to the end of the iron stand. ( A picture would be good.

This ironing board has plenty of surface area and the height can be adjusted for tall people to iron unlike every other ironing board made. It wobbled a bit, but it was the floor surface and not the ironing board.

A simple piece of paper folded and place under a front foot made it rock steady. The iron rest is such a welcome addition as well as the “hot zone” on the cover. Plugging the iron in so that the cord directs from the rear makes ironing and the cord work in harmony.

Easy to open. easy to close and easy to store. I would mention that the iron is a Reliable Velocity 160 which adds to this great experience.

Love this board! The size is great for quilting purposes. The only thing I don’t like is that there is a definite ridge where the square front slides onto the back. Ridge is very noticeable. Going to try what another customer did to eliminate the ridge, which is use some cotton batting to smooth the ridge out.

I thought I’d give it a week or so to submit my review, to give myself a chance to use it and “experience” this ironing board. Might seem silly to be really enthusiastic about something so mundane, but this ironing board is the best! It is extra-wide, at 18″, and plenty long, at 48″.

Personally, I don’t miss the 6″ that is taken by the super-convenient iron rest on the flat end of the board; I am of average height, and any garments that need to be pressed fit quite comfortably on it.

As a seamstress, the width is especially convenient since I spend almost as much time ironing as I do sewing. I sit while ironing, and it lowers to 29″, which is the perfect level for me. Its base is sturdy, which is very helpful in keeping everything on it upright in case I bump it.

The white cover that came with it is certainly not as cheap and thin as some of the reviews have indicated (maybe I got a *special* one? I don’t think so). The ironing board surface itself is made of a very hard, durable plastic that has withstood the extremely hot temperatures I have subjected it to, and I expect it will continue to do so.

It is quiet enough when I open and close it. The iron rest rack is strong enough to support hanging a couple of spray bottles on its rim, and all in all this is one seriously great ironing board.

I have been looking for ironing board. I bought one somewhere it lasted on three months. When I read reviews on this one. It was amazing. I love the stand, very strong firm. I put extra sheet on it. I will recommend for a friend.

One of the best ironing boards I’ve ever owned. It is a bit high (height can be adjusted) but it is very sturdy and quiet. It does not wake the entire household when you unfold early in the morning. It is lightly padded which i believe assists in smoothing out the wrinkles.

I own a shop and sew everything that I sell. Ironing is about 50% of all sewing so I consider myself an expert. The padding on this product is only cheap foam and when I am ironing for more then 5 minutes it actually smokes from underneath the ironing board.

My husband walked by and saw it and was absolutely shocked. The metal frame gets hot and smokes and steams. The cover is a plain fabric and does not reflect the heat off of the surface like some ironing board covers.

This means that it does not iron well and creases are not easily ironed out even at the cotton setting with steam. The cheap foam on the board is so thick that you do not get a firm table to work upon which also prevents a nice surface to get a clean, unwrinkled look to whatever you are ironing.

The only positive to this product is the height and the cord extension that you can probably buy separately elsewhere. You can also buy an ironing board with that height and a better covering system at a cheaper price.

It was not a professional that designed this product.

It’s been a couple months now since I’ve been using this board (and I do ironing twice a week around 30 minutes), so here’s what I can say about it: – the board is very sturdy which is a huge plus; – it doesn’t make squeaky noises which makes ironing way less annoying; – the width of the board is very convenient so it saves you time: you can iron more in less time.

I haven’t been using the little shelf underneath a lot but when I did, it just felt more organized than usual. It does take a bit of space in your room but if you put it in the right place,somewhere not too noticeable or where it would not interfere with the access to your furniture – you’ll forget it’s there.

The only thing that could be improved is the cord holder part (if the stem could be sturdier) but not every board has that feature so just having that as a part of your ironing board is still useful.

It’s definitely worth the money since the quality is great, I don’t see myself replacing it any time soon, if at all. And if I ever had to replace it – I’d buy the exactly same board.

My last ironing board was less than 3 year and it rusted badly. The one before at that price range lasted for about 10 years. So, hopefully, this one which I think is expensive, will last as long as the one before.

This is my first to own an extra-wide. It is heavy yet it is only used once in a while. When I do use it, I have many of my husband shirts and pants (13+ combined) to iron and this size helps to iron more of it which gets my job done faster.

The size helps to iron bed sheets and I use the shelf under the iron to lay the rest of the sheet over so it won’t touch the floor. As far as an ironing board holder, we couldn’t find one we liked so we searched for ideas and end up making our own like the others; 2×4 with anchors to the wall and hook to hold one of the leg from falling and have it standing on the floor in my laundry room behind our garage door.

If you want it off the floor, use two hooks. It was just heavy to lift up for me. I am small framed female under 5′ and less than 100 lbs. Many great ideas out there!.

I love this ironing board. It’s nice and heavy. Sturdy. Easy to adjust. I am a quilter and the Top is nice and wide making it easy to iron lengths of fabric or large sections of quilting. Would definitely buy again.

I did add another cover to make the top a little thicker. But that’s a personal preference. Love this!!.

Replacement for my old Brabantia ironing board. The ironing bed is wider and I have always found having a shelf underneath useful. The iron stand is easy to put up. The “lock” on the legs makes storage easy.

Brabantia ironing boards are not cheap but I had the last one for 30 plus years. This one should outlast me.

Wonderful ironing board. Sturdy and love the linen rack. It is wide and at first seems large but once you’ve ironed a few clothes the extra size is great. I am tall and the extra height it has means I can stand up straight while ironing.

I spent a long time researching a replacement for my thirty year old ironing board as I now use a steam generator iron. I decided upon this Brabantia although it seemed expensive. It arrived promptly and I love it.

It’s not heavy to move, is very easy to put up and down and is sturdy. The large ironing area and luxurious cover make ironing a pleasure. Hopefully it will last another thirty years by which time I’ll be too old to iron.

I am so pleased with this ironing board. I hesitated a bit before buying because of the price but it really is worth it! Despite being bigger than my last ironing board it is not any heavier and I find it very easy to put up, take down and store away.

It’s very stable and the choice of heights makes it possible to put it at the right height for me to iron without having to stoop. My steam generator iron fits perfectly on the tray too and the tray is strong enough to hold it.

I would definitely recommend this product.

When we first unpacked this ironing board, I just had to laugh. My girlfriend, who is of slight build was simply lost behind it, and looked as if she was a little girl in a giant’s house. That said, if you are proposing to use this ironing board with an ironing station, you will need something substantial, and this will fit the bill.

It is a very stable unit, and will comfortably take the weight of our ironing station. (The Braun Carestyle 5). No mean feat, as it is pretty heavy, especially when the tank is full of water. The ironing area is impressive too, measuring about four feet long, (five feet including the ironing station table), and about eighteen inches deep.

Although we’ve only had it a month, it is easy to keep clean. The white ironing station holder is metal finished in white paint which matches the legs, and it has substantial rubber feet. The underside of the board is also sprayed white, and is a wide woven mesh finish, making it lighter and allowing the air to circulate more freely, therefore quicker to dry out should you be trigger happy with the steam function.

It is quite a lot heavier to carry around than our old ironing board, but to be honest, this is probably more to do with our old one being cheap and flimsy, rather than the new one being ‘overweight’.

All in all, this is a very well made unit which I can see lasting for many years, and even if I could have my money back, I would still purchase this model again. It is not a budget ironing board by any means, but we are both happy with it, and would recommend it fully.

Only had this ironing board a few weeks, so can not say whether it is well manufactured or whether it will last as long as previous ironing board. Bought the Brabantia Titan to replace our old Brabantia after reading the reviews.

Bigger area to iron on. But I had to add more felt padding as not enough. Not sure that the safety red ball used to stop accidental folding of the ironing board is the best solution as it gets in the way when putting the ironing board away between using it.

Can be a bit wobbly so place ironing board on a level floor when in use. It is possible to re-adjust the maximum height setting so that the maximum height is perfect for me to iron on.

I’m a 6ft left handed bloke who does his own ironing. So I bought this to replace a 35 year old Beldray whose legs had just literally fallen off. It goes up to 1m high which is great, no backache. Yes the legs are cranked somewhat but they don’t really get in the way if you are standing up, it would be a problem if I ironed sitting down but I don’t personally.

There is a lump of rubber on a chain which you push onto the release lever to stop it collapsing, bit fiddly and I probably won’t use that, it seems perfectly stable without. Also a device for setting the default height which looks handy.

It’s a lot larger (longer and wider) than my old board so ironing large things will probably be quicker. The cover has a foam underlay but if that bothers you could presumably find a felt one. Nice wide feet and a good mechanism so pretty stable in use.

All round happy.

The ironing board goes really high which I like, I don’t like the fact that the height adjustment lever is on the opposite side to the side you stand to iron if you are right handed. It means that I have to stand on the other side, extend the board, then go around to the correct side to iron.

Very awkward. My previous board had the lever on the right hand side, so much easier. It is very stable. Not too sure why you need the red ball as it seems perfectly safe without it.

Bought this to replace a 30 year old Brabantia ironing board which sadly was ruined by me failing to realise water spilt on the board had become trapped in the layers of foam backed covers I had added over the years.

The wooden top had swelled and become uneven as a result. I now wish I had a replacement top made. My new Brabantia board is nothing like the robust well made quality of my old one. The top is a flimsy wire mesh which clatters when I lower the iron onto it.

I immediately had to buy an additional cover to try and soften the landing of the iron to try and reduce the annoying clatter.

I am pretty happy with my purchase. The size of the actual ironing board was just what I wanted. My only gripe is that it doesn’t lower enough. I am disabled so do most of my ironing sat down, so I need it to go a little bit lower, but other than that, a great purchase.

We bought this ironing board to replace a heavy duty Brabantia ironing board that had done good service for many years. This is a solid and functional item that feels like it will perform well. The larger size makes it easier for ironing of towels and sheets.

It look smart and is simple to set up – although it our house it is rarely folded away.

This ironing board is big enough to make ironing a pleasure. It is very sturdy and can be set to different heights. I know it is expensive, but it is worth every penny as it makes this tedious task much more pleasurable.

I never thought an ironing board could be such a pleasure to use. The overall table is so well designed, with double usage and two well fitting thick pads. I mostly intend to use the table with the extension on, so will not switch back and forth.

With the pad on, the surface is seamless, wide and long. The iron resting place is so convenient and generously sized. The table is extremely sturdy, height is easy to adjust, and it is so stable on the frame.

It is also visually pleasing. I highly recommend this ironing table, a purchase that should last my lifetime. (As an aside, after much research, I also purchased the Reliable Velocity 260IR iron to replace a leaky Rowenta and to upgrade my quilting workshop.

The iron is leak free, even heat/steam and have not burned my hands with leaking steam since I switched. ).

The Minky Ergo is mostly well made, though I had to sand out a few burrs on some edges of the metalwork that might catch fabric (or skin) and cause problems, mainly on the inner edges of the iron rest.

No big deal but you’d expect a finished product to be, well. finished. The board is light compared to my old Brabantia of same dimensions, but not too light, so good when you need to carry it from here to there and sturdy on its feet.

Some reviewers have complained of uneven legs, but they were probably unlucky – though Minky might need to tighten up its QC a little. Though this is common to a lot of boards on the market, there is insufficent padding under the cover; not sure why ironing board makers skimp on this detail considering its importance in providing a good ironing surface.

This was true of my old Brabantia – and that brand is regarded as high-quality. So you’ll probably want some extra foam or felt padding, widely available (including offerings from Minky). Unlike the Brabantia, though, the Ergo’s cover doesn’t use drawstrings, opting for an elasticated hem; this is a bit of a pain to fit, particularly when you’re also trying to centre a separate padded layer underneath while stretching the cover across a 4ft board.

A nice feature, though I didn’t get around to testing it, is the Ergo cover’s part-heat-reflective surface, which should help increase ironing efficiency. The deal breaker for me is the iron rest. It does not securely accomodate my Philips Azur steam iron, which, although bulky, has been a standard format for many years now; other brands produce equally bulky irons (e.

g. Bosch). With any movement of the board, the iron is prone to slip into a flat attitude and could well end up on the floor. This should not be an issue if you have a smaller iron. You might expect Minky to have taken different possible sizes into account when designing their iron rest.

This is why I eventually opted to replace my old Brabantia with a. new Brabantia. The minky, sadly, had to be returned. Nevertheless, if you don’t use a big, bulky iron and you want good value for your money, seeing that decent boards nowadays cost an arm and a leg, you may well find the Minky Ergo to be just right for your needs.

So far, so good! I’ve had my old ironing board for 48 years – it was a wedding present – so it’s taking just a bit of adjustment getting used to not putting my iron down flat! Also, the height adjustment lever is on the far side not the near side and that seems a little awkward and not what I’m used to.

I don’t use the flex guide either as it gets in my way. Having said all this, I’m pleased with my Minky and I like the fact that it’s slightly wider and longer than my old one. If it lasts half as long as the one that’s now waiting to take its last journey to the tip, I’ll be ecstatic! Mind you, I’ll also be 94 by then, and highly unlikely to be fit to iron anything!.

Seems pretty sturdy so far. the three stars only reflects: Product arrived with a few deep scratches on the outside of the iron plate- this was cosmetic and did not affect the working of the board. When our new iron is on steam mode and the iron is placed in the ergonomic well at an angle (as shown on the picture) the angle causes the water to leak onto the floor.

We needed to replace our rickety elderly ironing board. I searched around and compared several before deciding on this one (and yes, I did read the various reviews). It was considerably more expensive than I had anticipated spending but when it arrived I decided it was worth the money.

It is strong, sturdy and doesnt wobble. We have a large heavy steam generator iron but we decided in view of it’s large footprint and weight that we would sit it on a low stool at the end of the ironing board, which works fine.

The hot iron can be placed flat on the iron pad on the board directly without harm when manoeuvring garments etc, around. The ironing surface is very good, garments don’t slip around and it avoids the puddles of water I previously experienced when folding my old ironing board up.

This comes with it’s own plastic hook fitment which can be screwed to a door/wall etc. We have put this on the inside of our airing cupboard door and the board fits firmly in place and doesn’t move around as the door is opened and closed.

Very pleased with my choice and would recommend it if you are happy to pay for it. Over the last 45 years or so I expect we have previously had 4 or 5 cheap ironing boards and every year or so needed to replace the cover.

I suspect that this is the last ironing board I will buy.

I believe this ironing board was designed for use with a power steam iron and, in my experience, it performs much better than the average board. The quality and fabric used for the cover means the board remains absolutely dry, as does the cover.

I found my previous board was always dripping wet and took days to dry out but this is deigned to cope with quantities of steam and shows no ill effects. In all other aspects it also out performs my previous boards.

It has a continuous working service therefore there are no annoying gaps for the cord to get stuck in. The black end panel is robust enough to stand the heat from a power steam iron with no ill effects.

It opens out effortlessly and can be set at quite a high height if that’s what you need. When you have finished it folds easily, isn’t too heavy and fits into a quite small space. I do not usually pay as much as this for an ironing board but this has definitely been worth the extra pounds.

Ironing boards are one of those items where a basic one will do. But having one that ticks all the boxes, takes it up to the next level. This is such a case. Wide enough to do a whole back of a shirt without the constant rotating.

Or larger household items. It folds up in a great way. Can even be hung to a wall or door should you choose with the nifty hook. The rubber side can withstand the heat of my Tefal iron no problem, though I never choose to leave my iron flat when not in use.

Always upright. Habit I suppose. And lastly. The thickness. If you’ve ever had a board with a thin padding, you’ll know just how frustrating that is. You think you’ve done a smashing job ironing that top, only to realise it’s left the metal mesh pattern on your item of clothing.

This is the complete opposite experience. And it may be simple, but it’s glorious knowing you don’t ever have to have that concern in the back of your mind or a towel handy as a back up. 10/10 (for an item as unexciting as an ironing board, but equally will bring you joy if you’ve ever had a rubbish one).

Haven’t used it yet but confident in it and price was good. All my many purchases have been good on this website. Moving here much was needed so bought much here including our dining room set which is so heavy it’s hard for me being crippled to move chairs, everyone comments on how heavy this set is made.

We ordered the product from Walmart but it came from a 3rd party shipper. It did not come in the original container from the original manufacturer of the ironing board. When we unpacked the ironing board one of the legs was completely broken off and the end of the ironing board had been sawed off; there was an ironing board cover on the ironing board.

We’re in the process of trying to get a refund and have the item picked up. The shipper will process a refund once we send photos of the board as received and will arrange for pickup. This is typical of recent third party shipments we have experienced from Walmart!.

I ordered this for my Sister. Other stores didn’t have this product. So I tried Big Lots!!! By surprise, they had it.

I love it. It is heavy so don’t think you will be putting it up somewhere between uses. I finally just set it up in the den and will move when I have company. My husband commented that his clothes felt like they had been professionally ironed and all I changed was the ironing board.

The side stand for the iron isn’t flimsy but the spaces are such that my home grade iron doesn’t sit securely. Haven’t had time to research what I should do. Once I got the hang of stepping on the foot pedal, it helps me iron quicker and better.

I enjoy sewing clothes and find that poorly pressed garments are a dead give away of a “home made” garment. I have had a vacuum board and steam generator combo unit for the past 20 years until it passed its useful life.

I purchased the 4000IS in the fall and recently purchased the 500vb to go with it. I love them. The 500vb is a great improvement over my old Board. I didn’t know that I needed the up air function until tried it out with silks.

It works beautifully. The large pressing area saves time as less repositioning is required. Repositioning garments is also easier due to the fact that the suction board is controlled by a foot pedal.

It leaves my hands free. Great product that I would highly recommend to anyone that loves to sew or enjoys beautifully pressed garments.

I like the ironing board very much. It is a high quality product. It is easy to learn how to use it efficiently.

I moved to an apartment and gave way my ironing board. Big mistake. I realized I needed one, so I ordered this one. Definitely, not a good buy! It is so wobbly and flimsy that it tips over when you try to iron anything on it.

I gave it 2 starts because you can iron small pieces if you’re careful. Anything large like a tablecloth, tips this over. Just great I honestly hope that all ironing boards aren’t made like this! It’s terrible!.

it is not steady. it wiggles when I use it. i have to put my foot on the leg to hold it still i have one i paid 20 dollars for and this one isn’t any better. i thought for the price i was getting a good steady board.

The cross tee at bottom of the leg is to short. should be a lot wider. i am very unhappy with it.

Replaced an old one that had a rusted frame. This is smaller and lighter than my old unit and I prefer the smaller size for storage. Unlike the older unit, this new device does not have a outboard shelf to rest the hot iron but I never used the shelf anyhow.

The first ironing board delivered was so we could put an ironing station on it. The legs were not welded properly so it just rocked on a flat or carpeted floor. It was replaced promptly but the replacement also had a rock in it just not as bad.

We decided we could live with it. The material is also not very heavy duty and the wheels just fell off without moving more than a metre. The quality control is not there but if it was it would be an oustanding product.

It is too expensive for what we received.

This is indeed an expensive ironing board, but worth every cent. Solid, heavy, stable, robust design. It comes highly recommended from my side.
