I bought this mic as a replacement for a Blue Yeti that I was using. The old mic had some serious USB port issues, and It was becoming too irritating to keep up with, so I decided to go with this one after a bit of research.

The sound is great, I feel like it captures a more natural tone than the Yeti. Live monitoring is great, and the fact that this mic lets you adjust the live monitor mix is fantastic. Makes it very versatile for both listening and recording at the same time.

I use this mic mainly for Teaching online classes, attending online classes, and amateur podcasting. It works for all 3 of those perfectly with absolutely 0 issue with hardware. Plug and play feature makes setup a breeze.

My ONLY (and I mean ONLY) complaint about this mic is the lack of Mute/Gain. The fact that this mic has no gain knob makes it a little irritating to adjust levels, but its easy to work around that. The lack of a mute button just makes me have to adjust the mix knob if I want to listen without a live monitor.

Both of these issues have very easy, very simple workarounds. The complaint is more about convenience than operation, because this mic does everything I need it to. Great build quality, came with a nice little bag.

I’m no expert in microphones so this is a very amateur review! Bought this product for game streaming purposes and so far it has been fantastic (used for a few weeks). My voice sounds crisp and dynamic especially when up close to the grill.

I do have to use audio filters such as noise suppression and noise gates to mute out typing and white background noise but there have been no issues. The mic has weight to it and feels very sturdy, also love that it comes with a 6m cable and pop filter.

Only thing I would say is missing is a gain knob, seeing that most other mics have this, not sure why they didn’t put one on, but this hasn’t been a huge issue as I hardly change the input volume in the settings anyway.

I’ve paired the microphone with the RODE PS1 boom arm so I’m able to place it at an optimal height/level which has been great. I was tossing up between this and AT2020 and have no regrets picking this one up! It’s a great USB mic option with everything you need in one package.

Also kudos to DJ City for shipping the product the next day I ordered even when it said it was back ordered on the site (maybe my timing was just too good?). Nonetheless, I was super impressed with the speed of service.

Looked towards getting this product after I watched a Linus Tech Tips review. I did a sync recording of both the mic and my phone and the quality is vastly different (obviously). But I especially like how there’s significantly less background noise and hum compared to my phone which makes levelling out the audio much easier to do.

The audio from the mic is really smooth and clear and pleasant to listen to. Great quality mic that also looks flashy on my desk, and the pop filter is a great plus too. Also hot tip: check for a coupon in the item window to save more off this item if you want to.

Bought this to replace my old (and expensive) Rode NT-USB. Much smaller footprint, and a breeze to set up. Elgato generally makes exceptionally user friendly gear anyway, so I didn’t anticipate any problems and that proved to be true.

The only big caveat I have with Elgato gear is availability – they’re almost never in stock, at least not the premium feature versions (like Wave 3, StreamDeck XL, etc) however the Wave 1 was available same day.

I do find that accessories are a real pain to get hold of and there’s an element of nickel and dime-ing in the way they sell must haves as addon – in this case having to purchase both the shock mount and the pop filter (both absolute must haves for recording and streaming) makes for a high end total package price along with availaibility issues.

(dropped a star because of this aspect) However, without wanting to sound like an Elgato shill, I’m impressed with this mic. Just try and have everything organised to get the mic, shock mount and pop filter all at the same time.

I purchased a Wave:1 a few months ago, as I’m planning on steaming soon and needed a Mic, as I didn’t have one. I did a bit of research and the Wave series had just come out. The reviews were all good and it seemed like the product I needed.

Basically, idiot proof! Once you get to grips with the software it’s a doddle to use. Just add your sources, balance your audio mix using the sliders and away you go! I would recommend watching a few videos on how to setup, helped me massively.

Although I’m more than proficient with I. T. I’m not a sound engineer! This is partly why I went for the Wave, the fact I can setup everything in the software and then link that to Streamlabs is a big plus, for a novice steamer – at a more than reasonable price.

It also saves you needing to buy a mixer as the software does the same job! It’s also come in handy for online meetings. I’ve had an interview for a coding course and a job interview recently. On each interview the quality of the audio was mentioned, as they were used to people having “built-in” mics or cheap headsets.

I decided to replace a very high end competitor mic with the wave one because I was interested in the tech behind it as well as the software that came with it. I figured at such an affordable price I could take the risk.

I debated whether or not to upgrade my microphone for my podcast, but decided it was time. I’m SO glad I did. With the Rode Podcaster, I hear a massive difference in the quality. It’s easy to use and perfect for podcasting.

The Rode podcaster is a craftsmanship and quality. Its stlyish, and simplisity itself when setting it up. But that doesnt mean the Rode podcaster has placed form before function. The sound quality is excellent.

Although the Rode pod caster is heavy, it isnt designed as as a handheld and is best paired with a Rode boom or desk mount. If you are after a mic and want quality with a 10 year warranty then Rode podcaster is what you are after.

This mic is compact and solid. Even just by looking at it, I can tell the quality by the materials used—then once I felt the case and the build, it looks very durable. Out of the box, it is easy to install.

It comes with a USB-C connector to the back but it cannot just be any USB connector because the molding around the socket is unique to the back of the mic. The overall size is perfect, and it fits my desktop set up without it sticking out like any other peripheral.

Once it is connected, the Razer Synapse app automatically comes up for installation. The app is cool because it comes in like a mixer, so it helps manage my connected devices to align my inputs and outputs plus, controls the levels of the connected devices.

Also, it enables me to create profiles so I can have settings specific to what game I am using the mic with. Sound recorded is pretty good. On my regular headset mic, the sound comes out a little muffled.

But with this microphone, my recording comes out crisp, and tends to be a little high—but I think I can adjust that with the app. Also I like the mute light indicator—green when on and red when it’s muted; so I don’t accidentally leave the mic on and have other people hear things they should not.

One thing that I am not used to: the volume dial doesn’t stop—meaning it keeps going left or right—it takes some getting used to—but it just means that I have to keep dialling to adjust the volume levels as there is no full left to tell me the volume is totally down or full right to tell me it is on full volume.

I realized how good it is for recording levels—so I don’t get used to a certain dial position because the hardware and the software (app) levels work hand-in-hand with each other. Pretty cool microphone if you ask me.

Great hardware quality and awesome sound output. It looks good on video recordings too—I don’t mind keeping it in the screen when my video is on. Good job Razer!.

TLDR: This is a high quality mic tuned to reduce background noise compared to less expensive alternatives, though you will absolutely need to get a pop filter. ****** COMPARED TO ALTERNATIVES: The style of this microphone has it picking up more background noise than dynamic mics will, but it appears to have been tuned to reduce hissing.

If you really want perfect high-frequency sensitivity and have a space set up without ambient noises, you can go for just about whatever you want – but this is nice for the rest of us. It’s actually ironic because they claim this mic is “capable of capturing your voice with a high degree of accuracy especially at higher frequencies” – which just isn’t the case.

A $30 microphone can do better – but you introduce extra noise. ****** QUALITY: The body of the microphone is plastic. This may bother you, but to me it means less weight and greater durability if you drop it.

The grille is metal and the included 6′ USB C to A cable is thick and fabric wrapped. ****** SETUP: You can use the included base – just screw it in. Plug the microphone into a USB A slot on your computer, make sure it’s selected as your mic source, point the light at your face, then get recording.

You won’t get the best out of it, however. To do so, you’re going to need a pop filter, and ideally a boom arm. Since this microphone is light, the boom doesn’t have to be heavy duty, so a cheap one will work.

****** SOUND: This microphone comes, out of the box, sensitive to “plosives” – sounds that pop – so you’ll need a pop filter. I had to use two – one that fits over the mic – and another that’s the disk style.

You can find one that fits over for the Seiren Mini that’ll do the trick. Without both, though, popping sounds came through heavy and bassy. ****** SOFTWARE: The Razer Synapse software gives you some nice-to-haves for streaming, like an auto clipping filter (so you don’t sound like garbage if you yell at any point) and the ability to turn up your “headphones” sound (your personal experiece) without turning up the mic playback for your stream or meeting listeners.

The latter being found in “Stream Mixer”. You can of course use the microphone without Synapse – you just lose those features. ****** PHYSICAL FEATURES: This thing is small. I can’t believe there’s actually a “Mini” version.

Crazy. On the front there is a Mute button. Pressing this causes a small audio click in your recordings, streams or meetings – but it’s worlds better than some alternatives which cause a jarring pop.

Under Mute is a gain knob which operates gain in Windows and on the default “Mic” tab of Synapse. When using the “Stream Mixer”, this knob does nothing. On the back is a 3. 5mm audio jack to pass audio through to headphones.

Keep this in mind if you want to use a shock mount. My shock mount blocks it. ****** What Could Be Improved: A pop filter needs to come in the box for this price. There should also be an equalizer in the Synapse software for people to personalize their mic profile.

The headphone out should be on the bottom. ****** Conclusion: For my needs (YouTube Talking Head/Product Reviews), this is a great starter-intermediate mic. I won’t be looking for another one for a while.

It is a bit spendy in a competitive landscape, though. That knocks it down a peg.

I will start out by saying that I went to college for Radio and TV Broadcasting and I spent many years as a on air DJ at a local radio station. I have used a TON of microphones, and my standards might be a bit higher than the average user.

Out of the box I can tell this is a well-built microphone. It doesn’t feel cheap at all. It comes with a small stand, fairly long USB-C cable, and a windscreen. I use other Razer products on my computer, so as soon as I plugged this one in, it automatically launched the Razer Synapse program and installed the microphone for me.

After a quick restart, I was ready to go. In the app there are a few functions you can adjust like the volume of the microphone and headphones as well as a high pass filter and selecting the audio quality.

There are also 2 knobs on top of the microphone for adjusting the mic and headphone levels as well as a mute button. For testing I just used the Synapse app to hear what the microphone sounds like without any processing.

I found with the high pass filter on, it sounded extremely tinny. I can’t imagine ever using the mic that way, it sounded horrible! When I turned off the high pass filter, it sounded much better. I have a very deep and bassy kind of voice and found that this mic had good highs and mids but was lacking a bit on the low end.

My voice definitely didn’t sound as full as it does with other professional broadcast microphones. This microphone also definitely has a very small sweet spot. You don’t want to have it parallel with your face talking into the side of it, and you don’t want to talk directly into the top of it.

It needs to be on a slight angle and you have to have your mouth fairly close to it. I would say within 2-4 inches to get the best sound out of it. Any movement out of that range is noticeable. It did a fairly good job of blocking out background noises.

I didn’t hear any noises in my few test recordings I did. One small gripe I have is the UBC-C connector port on the mic. It is a recessed port and there is a very small hole to put the cable in. I tried using a few other USB-C cords I had around the house and had a very hard time jamming some of them in there because the slot was so tight.

Just something to think of. Overall, I would say this is a good budget microphone for doing podcasts and YouTube videos and things like that. It will easily work great for those purposes. It might be a bit of a stretch to call it professional or a broadcast microphone.

But if you are on a tight budget and need a microphone for podcasts and things. This is definitely a solid microphone in its price range, so I would recommend it if you fall into that category. If you are doing professional broadcasting or voiceover work, you will definitely want something a little higher end.

My first reaction to the microphone was positive. It looks great, and right out of the box it worked perfectly. Within moments I was using it for a work call. JLab makes good use of the two dials to give control over direction patterns, recording, and volume and gain control.

The sound was great and it picked up my voice easily. Why only three stars? First, the Talk Pro started freezing(?) where it wouldn’t react to any controls until I unplugged it and plugged it back it.

This happened 1-2 times a week. A small annoyance but it never happened with other mics. Second, it stopped working after 6 months. I’ve tried it on three computers and each one fails to recognize the device.

Searching for help was just as frustrating, as JLab seems to think it doesn’t need to offer help online. I tried a new cable. It’s just. dead. Six months of sitting on my desk, and it stopped. I can’t recommend another brand more quickly.

Stay away from JLab.

I had an important public event that needed to be live-streamed and recorded. Additionally, I occasionally have some presentations that require narration. I wanted something good that was not going to break the bank.

This mic does a great job for both scenarios. Having the ability to adjust the sound fields, volume, and gain right on the mic makes life simple. The only true negative is that the shell of this mic is a pretty cheap plastic, not all metal.

The challenge I ran into, but not a deficiency of the mic specifically, is that this requires USB 3. 0 for both power and speed. Unbeknownst to me until I got everything prepped for the big show, is that USB 3.

0 cable length is not supposed to exceed about 10 feet without amplifiers. It might work beyond that, but the official USB standard limits the length. I was not willing to risk it, so I put a powered hub in the line to make sure the mic got everything it required to work properly.

In the end, I got crystal clear audio that seems to practically hear a pin drop. I am really happy with the purchase and would definitely recommend this to someone who needs an above average mic at a reasonable price.

This is a great microphone with fantastic sound. I use it for hours daily on video conferences, and it’s almost perfect for that. Design is unobtrusive, it’s just small enough to not stick out. The direct monitoring is great to avoid shouting into the microphone.

Very low background noise, from both the microphone and air movement. It does however easily pick up keyboard noises, so placement is crucial. It will also faithfully record crying children or other “true” noises, so it’s not suitable for loud environments.

Headphone output is very convenient to avoid extra cables and devices, I plug my SE215 in there, which gives me outstanding sound in both directions. One downside, apart from the keyboard noise, is that the status indicators, including the muting indicator, are on the backside of the microphone, and are not visible when setup correctly.

At the same time, the muting function is the only way to disable the ambient pickup from the monitoring function, which is good for listening to music. So between meetings, I often mute the microphone to listen to music without background noise, but then forget to turn it back on because the flashing indicator lights are not visible.

Would be much better to have a muting indicator at the front to avoid the frantic “Is the correct sound source connected? Which of the 3 mute points are active now?” debugging at the beginning of the next meeting.

I would also like the volume adjustment wheel to be a bit less recessed. There’s really no good reason for it to be that deep in the housing, there’s very little risk of accidentally turning it at its location, but it can take a couple of tries to try to adjust the volume with anything but the thinnest fingers.

B&H mistakenly describes this as a side-address, it is more of a top address mic, although a spherical shape is confusing in this regard. Many reviewers mention that this mic is an improvement on bud or laptop mics, which is really quite useless, the mic should be compared to other external mics.

I agree that the cables are really from another era, so stiff and unwieldy as to be a hindrance to proper mic use. This is an important ergonomic oversight, it’s a shame they went for the cheapest possible solution.

I likewise find the mute button is a major failure. First, the circuit breaker comes AFTER the click which locks it, meaning that you cannot mute the mic without an audible click being heard on the line.

Stupendously stupid choice. The flashing led warning that you have muted the mic are invisible to the speaker, as they are all situated in BACK of the mic. Again, real dumb. Finally, the DSP mode button is right beside the tiny mute one, in back of the mic, and when you are under cognitive load while streaming or recording, and you have to cough, it is really unpleasant to have no clear, easy and failsafe button to mute, you have to fiddle in back of the mic, with not visual feedback you have succeeded, it is amazinly ill thought out.

On the upside, the fact it has a normal camera tripod threading is really a good idea, any mini tripod is way better than the stand it comes with, as you can angle the mic in a much wider arc. Voil!.

I purchased this microphone when I was searching for a solution for a podcast I am a part of. I did a lot of research and I never considered Shure because the options I knew of were out of my price range.

I was looking mostly at the famous Yeti. But then I came across the MV5 at a music store and purchased it. The versatility of using it with a computer or iPhone allowed me to record not only the podcast but sound recording with my son’s cello playing.

The aesthetics are fantastic, and I was happy to get the black/red one. Also, it has a standard mounting plug so I used it with a regular camera tripod when I started using it then moved to the desk stand included.

It has proven to be very high quality on my recordings and very flexible. I coupled it with the companion iPhone app and was able to get the levels just right by looking at the gain graph and position the microphone to avoid distortion.

This microphone has proven to be a fantastic purchase. Now my other son is into streaming and YouTube so I think I will get one for him as well. I had it paired with my SE425’s but when my wife gave me the RMCE-TW1 I had to change my monitoring headphones.

Feels I should have at least 215’s instead of the Sony ones I have, probably in the future.

When it comes to streaming microphones, there’s a few decent options out there, however, the one that has become the recognized de facto standard is the Blue Yeti. Whether you’re a new streamer or one that has been doing it for years, the Blue Yeti tends to be the workhorse on which most streamers started and established themselves, and the one with which most streamers use for their day-to-day streams.

To start, this is a bundle, it comes with some custom Streamlabs skins, a Pop Filter with the Blue logo on it, and of course the microphone itself. The microphone is mounted on a small desktop stand, but can be attached to a standard microphone arm through the threaded port on the bottom.

It connects to your machine via USB. Initial setup is extremely straightforward, plug in the USB to your PC, attach the pop filter and start playing around with it. For most people, the software of choice is OBS, Streamlabs has their own custom version of OBS which integrates with the Streamlabs overlays, skins, tools, filters and merchandising platform.

It’s easy to start for a beginner, but has numerous advanced settings to really customize your broadcast. OBS immediately recognizes the microphone and applies a set of settings to it, which. aren’t the best.

I wont go too much into OBS settings as it can range from simple to complex, and not only that, each person has their own goals for their own sound. Instead, I’ll focus on the microphone itself. For me it took a little bit of learning to get it to have the sound I wanted without any distortion (be careful with that gain dial, it’s better to adjust the volume in the software).

It’s important to note that you want to talk at the SIDE of the microphone, not into the top of it like we all believe to be correct after watching live TV and music over the years. This is a 360′ microphone which means you can adjust the direction that it picks up sound from, either everywhere, or in one, or a small number of directions (this is handled through the ‘pattern’ dial.

Imagine the images around the dial as representations of where the sound is picked up). I’d strongly recommend researching what works best for your environment, style and type of content you plan on creating to determine the best settings both in Streamlabs OBS and with the various dials on the microphone as well.

Final thoughts, this is the microphone that will carry you well into your streaming career. I strongly recommend this microphone.

Seeing Larry King do his interviews there was always that timeless upright microphone on stand just like this one looks except seemingly 100 years into the future with styling and features. Whether you’re recording for your podcast, live streaming your video game play, or singing your heart out! This microphone and it’s entire setup makes you feel like a professional.

It has a weighted base (about 1. 5lbs) to keep it from tipping over. It’s sleek and dark, in a black brushed or matte look and feel with a woven mesh metal basket over the top. It has LED indicator that shows the sound level and lets you know if it’s up too high or down too low, and can also modified to the persons liking as far as colors which I thought was pretty cool.

You can use this in 4 different modes. There’s Cardioid, Omni, BiDirectional and Stereo mode. Cardioid picks up sound from the half of the microphone facing you only. Omni mode picks up sound equally all around the microphone and room beyond the microphone and even behind the person speaking, it to me sounds like when you’re on speakerphone.

BiDirectional picks up from the person front facing the microphone and the person on the opposite side facing the back side which is great for interviewing. And last is Stereo mode which uses both left and right channels which to me picks up sounds more naturally and not so much excess noise.

It has Blue Voice Settings which allows you to change voice effects. There’s infinite combinations you can choose from the presets or setting up your own variation. It does require you to download Logitech G HUB in order to use this which opens up endless possibilities as far as extra settings.

It also a threaded hole in the bottom so that you may put this on a professional boom arm for studio use or even on a tripod used for photography. It has gain control and a headphone output.

This is my second Blue Yeti and once again, I’m beyond pleased. Yeti has become the popular choice for gamers, streamers, podcasters, and general home computing use. With a solid build, consistent performance, and affordable pricing it’s almost a no-brainer go-to.

Sure, there are higher-end, non-USB, far pricier mics and those have their place in the market. When it comes to affordable, dependable, upper mid-tier mics, Yeti has hit the sweet spot. The two things you will notice right out of the box are the weight, and the appearance.

This almost iconic mic just has an aesthetic that seems to fit in any setup. It’s not flashy, but has a premium look and feel. Speaking of which, this is a solid, well-built mic as evidenced by its weight.

The base securely holds the Yeti in place while offering easy tilt adjustment. Not that you want to be knocking the mic around, but I don’t worry much that bumping something into my Yeti is going to cause any damage.

Aesthetics are great, but they mean very little if your mic doesn’t perform. Once again, Yeti doesn’t disappoint. With the ability to change where the mic picks up sound, you can adjust this mic in nearly any position and still obtain clean, clear audio.

Pattern and gain adjustments can be made on the mic directly using the dials on the rear of the mic. The volume dial and mute button are located on the front for in the moment needs. Sound quality is above par, especially when you take the time to appropriately setup and adjust settings at the start.

This is true with any mic, your results can be greatly improved by spending some time properly setting the location, angle, pattern, gain, volume and figuring out proper speaking distance from the mic.

The Blue Yeti will give you clear sounds with minimal to no distortion when prepped correctly. Pop filters can help decrease natural “pops” from speaking, and the use of a mounting arm can help to reduce noise pickup from being on the desktop.

This becomes much more of a necessity for speech sensitive tasks such as podcasts or video chats. Gamers may not necessarily find this as much of a priority. I have two setups, both of which now have Blue Yetis as the primary use mics.

One is for more professional business use on a MacBook Pro M1. Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, and FaceTime are the primary uses here. The second setup is on an M1 iMac and used for video creation / production, and gaming.

I could not be happier with the design, appearance, dependability, and quality. I would have no reservations recommending Yeti to anyone who needs an affordable, quality workhorse of a mic.

Okay, for starters, this microphone sounds great and seems to record all the frequencies of the human voice. I believe it can record your music performances as well, but since I am interested in recording people’s voices, this is what I am going to focus on in my review here.

I love the fact that in order to record high-quality sound, there’s no need to place this microphone too close to the person who is speaking, so you can have it outside the frame during your Youtube videos or Zoom calls.

However, it will also record all noises in your apparent/studio, so the air conditioner must be off 100%. A gain control nob allows adjusting the sensitivity of the microphone based on the volume of the speaker’s voice or the distance between the mic and the person who is speaking.

The same nub can be used to adjust the volume of your headphones, which I found very convenient. Another great feature that I love is its versatility. The recording patten of this microphone can be changed between cardioid and omnidirectional, which allows using Joby to record multiple people’s discussions.

This fact alone can be a huge benefit and money saver. In addition, Joby microphone is built very nicely and looks great on camera. It may be a valuable point for those who are interested in recording on-camera interviews and podcasts.

A matte finish helps to avoid fingerprints and makes this microphone look very stylish. To sum up, I absolutely love this mic, because 1) it records great sound; 2) it’s very quick and easy to set up; 3) it doesn’t require any additional equipment and cables, just your computer; 4) it can be used in multiple different scenarios (VO, one person interview, 2 people podcast, multiple people discussion) 5) it’s affordable since for it cost you are pretty much getting your own professional sound studio.

The only thing, I wish I could use it with my phone as well.

Let me start by saying that I received this product in exchange for my honest review. And this could not have come at a better time. I needed to finish a video that was to include some VO, and I could not locate my YETI.

So the day I picked this up I put it to work right away. And let me say I felt right at home as it had many of the same functions and icons as my Yeti, but when it came to sound quality I was blown away.

I was and still am very impressed. This mic sounds great and is the perfect tool for the job, while at the same time I can see a multitude of applications for this mic. Pound for pound a great all around USB mic.

If you’re on the fence I’d say just do it, you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

I also own a Shure podcasting mic, and at a higher price point than the Joby it does record clearer sound with less background noise. That being said, for simpler recording, for example with using my iPhone or not needing to set up all the equip for my Shure, this mic is a great alternative.

You’ll get some background noise but the sound quality is good and no comparison to trying to use anything else. Great price point for a podcasting mic you can use for content creation etc.

The Samson G-Track Pro is a high quality, professional level microphone. This microphone has many great features and options for recording various types of audio. It is well constructed and made of good quality die cast metal.

You can tell when you pick it up that it’s a heavy, solid microphone, durable and not cheaply made. It was pretty easy to set up and any minor issues I had were easy to resolve. It has an excellent sound quality and is very sensitive.

I can sit back or even walk around my room and my voice still comes out clear. The control panel is intuitive and easy to use. It is perfect for gamers, streamers, and for recording podcasts and music.

It has 3 different settings for recoding audio from various angles, cardioid, bidirectional, omnidirectional. Cardioid is perfect for the streaming and gaming we do in my home and for my zoom meetings, and bidirectional and omnidirectional would work really well for recording music.

My voice always comes out crystal clear and it blocks out unwanted noises. It also has a headphone jack in the back which works well for me. You can also use it to plug in instruments and record your voice and instrument separately.

I definitely recommend this microphone.

I recieved the NT-USB mini for free, and was looking forward to the free upgrade over my current 9 year old microphone, that I originally got for half the price of a brand new NT-USB mini. Upon using it for the first time to talk to friends, their first reaction was “why do you sound so bad?”.

They thought maybe their headphones or the internet connection was causing it, and I thought maybe they were just not used to the sound, but everyone I talked to, their first reaction wasn’t that I sounded different, or even that it was not noticeable.

Every one of them commented on how my audio quality had gotten much worse since they last talked to me, and they had no idea I had replaced my mic. “It sounds like you are talking through a screen” “like talking through a drive-through ordering audio thing”.

Upon replugging in my old mic the issue was fixed, and there were no audio issues. I tried tweaking all settings, but even across different settings and different computers the audio quality just straight up sucks.

No special drivers or software can be found on the RODE site that fixes this issue. Don’t bother buying this garbage. My 9 year old Audio Technica ATR2100-USB (out of manufacture, they do have a newer model but I have not used it and can’t tell you if it is bad or not) outpreforms this RODE mic.

I know of cheap Chinese microphones available that either outpreform or go equal with the NT-USB mini for 20% of the cost (not bad for >=100% of the audio quality). Maybe RODE knew their mics were so bad which is why they were giving them out for free.

I cannot find anyone willing to take the mic off my hands for FREE.

Whenever I review a mic, I take into account ease of use, sound quality, and build quality (perceived durability). I also ask myself who the product is for and what part it plays in the market as a whole.

In this case, the buyer is also given the option — take it! — of downloading a mic-specific software package, in this instance Rode Connect. The build quality is impressive, given the affordability of this condenser mic.

The microphone comes with a proportionately small base, but unless you set the base on something to bring it up closer to head level, you will not optimize your recording experience. So, I bypassed that base entirely and attached the mic cage to a FrameWorks free-standing boom and adjusted the arm to the desired level; you could have as easily used a full-on boom arm like Rode’s PSA-1 (I have one), but I wanted to try out the Mini and rode Connect post haste, and did not want to remove my Rode NT 1-A from its accustomed “throne.

” I needed to purchase a quality USB-C to USB-C cable, because the cable packaged with the Mini is USB-C to USB-A, and my M1 iMac is all USB-C. The Mini is fully plug and play: plug your USB-C end into the back of the Mini and the other end of your cable into a port on your computer.

Also plug your headphones (I have a good quality closed-back Audio Technica set) into the back of the Mini and you will have zero-latency monitoring. Download Rode Connect software after updating the Mini’s firmware.

On your computer, go to System Preferences > Sound and select your microphone for both Input and Output. You are almost ready to record. After adding your Mini in Rode Connect — there are several excellent videos online that explain the basic functions of the software — begin recording! I would recommend that you try the various setting options in Rode Connect and find those that are most suitable for your voice; we’re all different.

The Noise Gate option works well enough, but it’s an all-or-nothing Noise Gate and may cause you to lose some of the nuanced sound that you would get in, say, the Rodecaster Pro and its companion software: I’ve done side-by-side comparison with the Rodecaster Pro, and it’s just not the same.

The Connect software is minimalist and will not allow you to achieve the nuanced, smooth-as-butter sound of the Rodecaster Pro, but the Connect software is also free. ‘Nuff said. Note, the Mini is a condenser microphone, so you will likely want to use the Noise Gate.

When you do, the proximity effect with cross-axis delivery keeps those pesky plosives and extraneous noises to a minimum, even if you live next door to a rowdy bar (I do); the Mini also has its own built-in pop filter.

I would also recommend using the Compressor while recording; it works very well. Unless you have a Rodecaster Pro, this is quite serviceable. The aural effects options are not necessary, but they may enhance your delivery, depending on the natural timbre of your voice.

You can now directly export your recording to the basic hosting platforms; recordings are by default in. wav file format, but you can (and in most instances must !) select MP3 for export. What do you lose and what do you gain by using the Mini and Rode Connect? The Mini is a very good mic in its price range but I would not put it on par with a high quality large capsule condenser like the the NT 1-A; on the other hand, it’s considerably less expensive.

Also the Connect software offers few options for fine-tuning your recording and there is almost no post-production. The emphasis all the way is ease of use and demystifying the occasionally mysterious world of full-featured DAWs and post-production.

For the seasoned sound engineer — which I most assuredly am not! — this will appear very limited; on the other hand, for the fledgling podcaster overwhelmed by the expense and sophistication of the tools of the trade, the Mini and Rode Connect offer a very affordable way to “get the message out,” with the proviso that there are still rungs to ascend as one becomes more experienced.

If you have a computer and a Mini, you can now podcast! The wall has come tumbling down, and your voice, crisp and clear, will be heard. At last!.

I spent a lot of time looking for a decent USB microphone, and checked out many reviews on the subject. This one came with only good recommendations, to which I can happily lend my additional support.

The build quality is impressively substantial, which is reflected in the fact that this microphone is surprisingly heavy for its size; although not inconveniently so. On the contrary; it ‘feels’ like a quality item.

To some extent its suitability depends upon your intended use. And the small size of this unit may not suit those who intend it to be employed in a ‘sitting on the desk’ position, because from base to top it only reaches a height of 14cm (5.

5″) which means that you would need to place it on a stand to avoid bending over whilst speaking. But if, like me, you want it for singing it can be easily hand-held (although not obviously designed for this purpose) or fitted to a standard microphone stand with the adaptor as supplied.

The sound quality is obviously the main thing, however, and this is as good as any other microphone I have experienced. It is easy to use without any tedious downloading of special drivers, and is the literal definition of ‘plug in and play’.

The sound can be monitored through a headphone jack with a level control. Admittedly the volume level throughthe headphone O/P could have had a bit more level available, but really nothing to complain about.

So, if you need a good USB microphone it is my opinion that you can’t really go wrong with this. And, at this price, it’s really a very good deal indeed.

Sound: While the Blue Yeti may not be THE best sounding USB mic right out of the box, it does have good sound quality. With a little tweaking through a free audio mixer software like Voice Meeter Banana will result in a very professional sounding mic without spending the big bucks.

Stock settings will give you more than sufficient sound quality though. With easy access to the knobs to control the gain and pic up pattern makes for easy adjusting on the fly. Due to the pic up patterns I would only recommend this mic for individual use and not for an interview setting.

Price: Being priced at $130 isn’t terrible, but should probably be closer to the $100. 00 mic segment given it doesn’t have XLR. Personally, I would opt to buy the Blue Yeticaster Broadcast Bundle which includes the mic (no desktop stand), boom arm, and shockmount for $180-$200 vs the stand alone Blue Yeti Mic for reasons below.

Purchasing all three items individually would be in the $280 range Keep in Mind/Cons: I would highly, highly, highly recommend a boom arm for this mic. The desk stand for the mic is not very useful. I found myself slouching over due to having no height adjustment.

Additionally, to get your mouth the appropriate distance from the mic for optimal sound quality (without cranking the gain) means the mic stand is sitting at an awkward spot in relation to your keyboard/mouse.

I also found that with the desk stand no matter how I positioned the mic, set the pickup, gain or gate I could not eliminate picking up desk noise such as keyboard clicks, mouse clicks, or even setting my phone down on the desk due no shock dampening.

Even setting the stand on a towel did not assist much. Mounting the mic to the Blue Boom Arm completely fixed the unwanted sound and positioning issues. If you are going to mount this mic to the Blue Boom Arm I would recommend installing it with the shock mount.

The shock mount isn’t much of an advantage sound quality wise, but definitely helps weight wise with the boom arm. While this mic is heavier than normal it’s not quite heavy enough on it’s on for the Blue Boom Arm.

I found the boom arm wanting to “snap open” on the loosest tension settings due to there not being enough weight at the end of it. Adding the yeti shock mount to the mic and boom arm allowed for the proper weight to adjust the mic to my desired position without any sagging or raising.

In conclusion, I would highly recommend this mic being purchased in the Yesticaster bundle due to the savings vs buying the individual components. While I still can recommend the mic being purchased individually, I believe you’re going to be wanting a boom arm sooner rather than later due to the desk stand offering no dampening or height adjustment.

This microphone has numerous settings to cope with any particular style recording format you might need. There are four patterns to choose from just be mindful of what each one does to maximize the quality of your recording.

Cordial is the one you want (looks like an upside-down heart) as this will record only from a single direction directly in from of the microphone. This really should have included a pop filter but those care quite cheap to get.

You do not need to buy Yeti branded accessories as the threads are universal to most brands. A cheaper alternative for boom arm etc. would be the Elgato line. The best way to use this microphone with cordial setting is the place it within 8 inches of your mouth around 45 degrees off-center from you while keeping the direction of the front of the device facing your mouth.

This will pick up the voice clearly without catching all your “P”s. As this is directional you will want to speak to the side of the microphone NOT on top like stand-up comedians do as it will not pick up your voice.

I’m a newbie to this sort of thing so I had to search through YouTube to find best practices. The instructions should have been a little clearer in the box but are a little cryptic at best. That’s the reason for the 1-star downgrade.

It’s great, don’t worry. A final note: don’t kid yourself, this is bigger than the picture shows; it’s also a little on the heavy side.

The Yeti is a very clear microphone with stellar sound quality. Unfortunately, I purchased this Yeti due to my first Yeti containing faulty hardware. The fault in the hardware resulted in an extremely lous and painful buzzing noise, almost like a flatlining sound, being audible whenever in a voice chat or recording in a music studio software.

Because of this, my Yeti had to retire, but I still loved the Yeti as it did last a decent amount of time: approximately 2 years. I tried to reach out to Blue at the time about the fault in the hardware and receive a repair or a replacement, however, I was not provided with one.

In other words, I had to come out of pocket an additional $150 roughly to purchase this new one, and to be honest, I don’t think it’s worth it. Yes, it is a good microphone, however, I feel there are now many alternatives that would deem a better fit for music production and streaming.

Some of these include the HyperX Solo Cast mic, which is also a fraction of the price with even better sound quality and easier handling. All in all, I suggest you look elsewhere to find a more affordable mic that fits your needs :).

This thing is absolute garbage. Why would you even make a mic with a desk stand that cannot be used unless you put your mouth right up to it? I expected I’d be able to maintain some distance and let this sit on my desk and talk in a google meets or whatever video conference.

Nope. They should forget the stand it give you a lapel clip so you can attach it to your shirt collar because even at that distance it would be suspect. It picks up almost no sound when you speak at it, but it picks up every single time you touch the desk, type a key, or whatever.

And this is with it sitting on a rubber foam mouse pad to insulate it some from vibrations. Sadly I bought this and didn’t have time to install it so it’s past the return period. That part is my fault, but the mic itself is worthless.

There’s no controls on it to adjust the input level. Turned all the way up in windows it gets about 15-17% as a max. Nobody can hear you. People in the reviews talk of a mute button but this doesn’t have one of that that I see.

What a disappointment.

I got this on sale for $39. 99 but even at full price this is a perfect microphone for gaming or business use. I’m a simple person so I love that it’s plug & play without needing to download additional software that use gimmicky voice changers etc.

It also features one big button at the top to mute/unmute. The microphone is solid red when it’s unmuted and blinks red when muted. The mic sits on my desk with the included holder and the included cable is lengthy so there should be no issue putting it in the perfect spot.

I have no issues with voice quality at all my freinds on Discord were impressed when I told them it’s just a cheap HyperX mic because they have +$100 Yeti mics. If you’re on the fence about this mic this is your sign to pull the trigger!.

Pros: Unless you are a professional, I highly doubt that you’ll be needing any sound better than this. Other than the amazing sound, it has great features such as a tap to mute button, easy and flexible positioning, and good aesthetics.

Cons: You’ll have to figure out a way to put it in your desk. Because it is a condenser mic, it is best to have your mouth close to it, therefore consider a boom arm if there’s no space. Overall, its everything you could ask for.

Great sound quality, great features, worth the money.

I ended up returning this product for a few reasons: 1. Although at the 70 dollar price point when it was on sale is reasonable, it is overall a fairly cheap product. It has barely any weight to it, and it largely made of plastic.

For a product that originally costs $100, I would have expected it to be on par in terms of construction with other microphones around the same price. 2. The live testing/feedback from the headphone jack on the microphone is QUIET.

You can barely hear yourself when you talk even if you turn up your levels to the max. 3. Overall the customization of this is pretty bad. It is a plug and play type (no software etc. ), but even after toying around with multiple Windows 10 mic settings and volume levels, it was hard to strike a good balance of volume levels for close sounds, but not picking up background sounds.

4. Despite what the mic claims, this DOES pick up a LOT of background noise. Noises in other parts of my apartment that are separated by walls still got picked up. My headset mic does a better job of picking up local sounds.

I did take the time to do research via reviews and guides online to adjust settings, so I don’t believe this has anything to do with my system or how it was set up, but rather a lack of customization makes this mic very hard to use in all but the quietest of spaces.

Overall it just feel like a very mediocre product with the Razer name slapped on it. While I love Razer for their gaming peripherals such as mice and keyboards, I would give a hard pass on this and not recommend it to anybody.

Buy a mic coming from a company that specializes in microphones, and I assure you will be please (I am planning to purchase a Blue for what it’s worth for around $100).

If I could give 0 stars I would. This mic is terrible. It was $100 on the Razor website, I get it in and realize the volume knob is for the headset. ok fine. plug in my headset. Doesn’t work (yes, i made sure the sound settings and everything were correct).

The mic works, however the background noise it picks up is so bad I cant use it. I try to adjust gain. mic does not have that function. I download software to adjust it and that helps slightly but its still terrible.

Then I would mute the mic, unmute it, and the mic would still act as if it was muted. I paid 100 for this??? When i go to refund it, razor “cant process my return at this time” AND wants to charge me $15 dollars to refund their terrible scam of a product? Worst thing I have ever bought.

Will never buy from Razor again. DONT BUY IT.

Disclaimer: BB sends email out asking for review before the items is received, then they send email after email asking fad a reminder. With that said, I’ve not owned the product long enough to give a thorough review but here are my initial thoughts.

It’s a mic. It works as a mic. I cannot attest to the quality yet but it powers on, works on Discord calls and Teams meetings. What I don’t like – when booting up the PC, one would expect that the device defaults to muted as there’s no actual power button but it doesn’t.

Second thing is that there is a knob/dial on the front that turns but I really have no idea what it does. This doesn’t put out sound so it’s not that and I’ve asked others on my calls if they can hear a difference when I change the dial, they can’t tell any difference.

All in all, I’m giving 3 stars as that’s my default that an item functions as it’s purpose – it’s a mic and people can hear me when I use it. I’ll edit the rating and review once I’ve used it more and can give a true rating based on its performance if it far exceeds or truly fails being a microphone.

Maybe that doesn’t even exist on the market yet due to latency problems? If I had more money, I’d probably buy a foam recording screen and/or something to help the noise?, but I don’t understand anything about music recording and I could use some videos specifically addressing how to trouble shoot this for singing both directly into your phone and into your camcorder, as I live in an apartment and don’t have a portable computer for recording elsewhere yet.

So far I’m not noticing a difference in sound from when I used to just use my earbud microphone or nothing to record my singing into my phone. It might even be worse now, but that’s probably just because I don’t know how to work this professional technology and could use some extremely laid out help for dummies regarding it.

Probably a handy device if I understood it, I thought I’d be able to, but for a month now I haven’t. I think it is necessary to have for my Sm7b microphone to be able to connect to my Samsung Galaxy s20 for vocal recording, that’s why I got it.

But maybe I need to figure out a way to connect my microphone to my phone without this in between? Maybe this device is causing the problem. I’m not sure.

Looking for interface suggestions online turned into a ton of mixed results no matter which brand or product I read about. Scarlett, Presonus, Focusrite, etc. Pros of those products were all met with users commenting plenty of cons involving all sorts of different issues.

So, I emailed Shure and asked if their MVi would for sure work my iPhone. They responded quickly and told me that it’s exactly what I needed to get the mic working. It came in the mail three days later and it’s perfect for what I do here at home.

Simple to set up and use with my phone. It works with my recording app as well as with recording videos or voice notes. I know very little about recording music beyond the very basics, but the MVi has made it possible for me to finally get to use my actual studio mic to start recording and learning with.

I was not expecting it to be this good for a USB mic! Been using it for 2 days so far and I had no problems with it, it is really easy to set up and the price isn’t to bad, also the sound is really good, for the gain it is best to put it at about 50% that’s what i have found to work.

Would recommend.

La voce che viene catturata risulta essere molto piena e calda, poco rumore di fondo. unico piccolo neo che si può trovare sta nell’attacco USB che bisogna inserire fino in fondo, altrimenti c’è il rischio che muovendo il microfono si spenga.

Nel complesso posso dire che il Samson G-Track pro, fa egregiamente il suo lavoro, molto soddisfatto dell’acquisto e lo consiglierei.

I absolutely love this microphone. I have been using a Samson Meteor Microphone up until this purchase, so, yes this is quite the upgrade – even though in the right hands even the Samson Meteor can sound great.

However, I am not a microphone expert; I am of above average microphone knowledge but not by much. Right off the bat I notice that the setup’s ability to transfer from the included stationary stand to my boom swing-arm AND have the ability to change adapters which is incredibly convenient.

Keep in mind, this is all without having to remove the shock mount that the quadcast comes with either. The microphone works well in any orientation whether in vertical or inversed position, to even sideways or offset.

The microphone is painless to setup and easy to use, having a gain knob underneath, a touch-tap mute button on top, and a mode selector on the back. The ability to choose from four pre-programmed scenario-based settings (podcast vs.

interview vs. chat etc. ) without needing a complex software is great and it is all at your finger tips with the mode selector. Speaking of software, the accompanying downloadable application for your desktop allows you to customize your sound settings and, of course, the RGB colors, patterns, ambience, and reactiveness.

I am always partial to my blues and greens and, boy, did I get them. The sound of the microphone is great even when using my typical chat services, Discord, Zoom, and Teams. I unfortunately do not have experience with recording with intent like as voice overs, but my friend does like to capture instances of us playing various videogames together.

Even without a “boosted server” the quality is crystal clear with a wide range. The addition of a built-in pop filter allows for some better hands-off control, giving the user the optional freedom of no external pop filter mounts or covers should they choose to do so.

Although, it is always recommended to consider getting one depending on your vocal habits. The material used in the construction is very reassuring and has a nice matte black. The stand itself is very solid and you would have to put in a little effort to knock this thing over.

I don’t see myself getting a new microphone anytime soon, and I hope that I never have to!.

Wanted to give a review right when I got it. Little background, I dabble in streaming and play FPS online with friends. I was tired of having the wired mic headset combo and had a yeti previously but wasn’t in love with it.

I’ve had it about a month now and there’s ALOT of good packed in this MIC and there are a few drawbacks as well. Pros: * Come across to other players online crystal clear *Software and MIC do a goodjob drowning out background noise *RGB is really on point.

The app is fairly simple almost to simple. *The on/off on tap is a very overlooked option and these guys nailed it on this one. I have mine set to color when on and no color when off. That way you never have a hot mic.

Cons: *The software needs a facelift, intergrate in the app some voice changing or something (overlays) NGENUITY is quite frankly a very simple minded app that is blah. *The gain control seems to really lack actual gain control.

Love this mic. Quality build and real quality sound, this mic comes with a fantastic base design that works to dampen/deaden sounds and vibrations from the desk it sits on (if not on a boom). I love the varied but simple controls built in – bottom twist knob to adjust the gain level, a knob on the back to select from four different condenser profiles, and (my favorite) a sensitive touchpad on top to activate/mute the mic activity that also shuts off the LED lights to indicate same.

We have had a few Yeti Blue/Yeti Nanos in the house, and I was nervous about swapping when I know those mics were a standard to measure to at the price point, but Hyper X delivers with this model. Love, love, love the USB-C power connect (Quadcast S model only) over micro-USB, and really enjoy the RGB array options over the non -S model.

I will admit I’m a dork for the RGB lights- I bought the non-S version first, literally tried it for 24 hours and talked myself into returning it for the -S model. The NGenuity software you need to download has a few features, iand makes the lighting pretty customizable.

Spent exactly 15 more bucks, but those two details alone sold me, otherwise I think the two models are identical as it relates to the rest of the build and craftsmanship. The sound is crisp, warm and clear (I leave it in cardioid mode, best for streaming and general use), and from about 12 inch distance it is clear as a bell and the user sounds pretty much adjacent to you.

Got it mostly for gaming, but also to hot-swap into my work laptop to manage umpteen zoom calls a day, and I’ve actually gotten a lot of compliments/comments on how clear I now sound. Great multi-tasker so far, would highly recommend.
