20 Best Extension Cord For Contractors (2023 Updated)

Not very flexible and tons of memory. Very poor choice for a construction site where cords need to lay flat. 2 stars because it does appear to be fairly robust and good quality, but marketing them as “super flexible” is deceptive.

I had 3 elec ext cords and ea one looked like it had cracks in it. No idea how old they were. I threw them out and bought this yellow one. I’m using it to keep a cat bed warm in my garage and it works just fine.

I feel safer with a new heavy duty elec ext cord.

First, the Yellow Jacket 2888 is an excellent power cord for serious power tools. It is flexible, smooth, heavy-duty, reinforced with polymer and highly visible. This 13-amp, grounded, three-prong 100-foot cord is perfect for job sites or for heavy electrical yard tools.

I use an electric mower, blower, edger, chain saw as well as woodworking tools, so this cord sees plenty of use. The one gripe I have, and it is only worth 1/2 star deduction, is that their Home Essentials Direct listing clearly states it has “Lighted Ends.

” Ends–plural. But only the female jack is illuminated. The male plug side is also transparent, so you can see there is NO neon tube installed on that side. It would be handy if both ends were illuminated to verify that the socket is hot when you plug this in.

Annoying, but I’m keeping this cord anyway; it’s a good one.

Perfect extension cord for my emergency generator. It’s extremely flexible and will handle the extra loads that will be needed in a power-out situation. I will need to run a small window A/C unit along with lights and small appliances at the same time, and this 12 gauge cord will handle the power needs.

My limited testing of this extension cord indicates that it is of very good quality with nice solid feel. It just feels much better than cheaper cables. I’m pretty happy so far.

This heavy duty cable really helps when doing a project at a great distance away from a electrical outlet. I plug in to an outlet and extend the cable the 50 ft. then plug another smaller gouge cable to this heavy duty #10 and I will not loose amps or watts in a great distance using power tools.

It is a great service to have a heavy duty cable such as this one. It winds up easy but is heavy as it should be with a large wire. I love it and it is a great extra tool to have and another plus is that it prevents a strain on my tools because of low amperage.

Also the light lets you know you have power to the plug.

I actually use these cords to make extension pieces for LED lights in my Halloween light show. They have been out in the sun all day every day for three weeks now, with no fading or cracking. The outer green insulation is kinda thin, but the interior insulation is great, and the wires really are 16-gauge stranded copper.

You can’t buy 50 feet of 16-3 stranded copper cable for as low a price as one of these extension cords, so that makes them a great deal. Highly recommended.

I mainly just want to let others know to make sure this cord is completely uncooked when using. We almost had a fire in our home using this extension cord. It is rated to use outdoors also but we were using it indoors.

My daughter smelled something hot. Found the cord melted together and onto the fabric pillow that it was lying on. Thankfully it had not started an actual fire!.

Yes this cord is sturdy, durable and a good value, however it isn’t very flexible at all at 44F. I was using it today outside and for the first time since buying it. I didn’t find it very easy at all to gather it up ready for bundling.

Almost like trying to wind up a solid wire, well almost. I do have a blue 14/3 gauge 25′ cord that I used with the Yellow Jacket for the leaf blower was difficult to maneuver using the Yellow Jacket as the cord going directly into the leaf vac/blower.

A world of difference btwn the flexible blue cord and Yellow Jacket. To do it over again, I’d spend the extra for another blue one.

I decided to spend a little extra money for a higher quality cord. First of all, bright yellow so I can find it fast and 12 AWG so I can use it for a full 20 Amperes. A lot of the cord from local hardware stores have CCA inside of their cords.

Copper Clad Aluminum. After a year or so CCA cords break some where in the middle so many times. The Yellow Jacket brand seem to be pure Cu. The plugs still tend to get hot but are easy enough to replace.

I use the cord for 20 to 25 Amp circuit. So the lighted ends tend to give out for it is designed for 15 Amp use. At least the main cord stays cool. I will get a 100′ 10 AWG cord next time for charging EV does require a bit of current to be delivered to i-3 or BOLT.

Yellow Jacket calls the funny plug a T type, and I call it NEMA 5-20P. Either way it is a far better cord but either way Yellow Jacket seems to be the way to go for power extension cords. It is rated for 300 volts but U.

L. tested for 120 volt so therefore it has a lot of room for EV charging. I have pushed 29 Amp thru the 14 AWG Yellow Jacket so I know the 12 AWG Yellow Jacket is more than adequate and 10 AWG is going to be overkill but what the heck more safety room is good too.

This product is the same as the Canadian Tire Mastercraft contractor cord, except CT repackaged it and wants $169!! Lowes is offering the identical product of $139 if you want the tri-plug or for $99 if you want the uni-plug.

This Philips 25′ 3-Outlet Grounded Extension Cord Outdoor Green is a really good size and it is really long. I use it outside in my backyard to hang up some outdoor lights on my fence (they did not reach the outdoor outlet) and I used the extension cord to hook up the lights so they could turn on for both during the day and night.

I got this cord to use with an electric chain saw that I purchased at the same time. It easily carried the current needed for the saw. I used this cord as the first cord in line, then another 100 foot cord, a 25 foot cord, and then a 50 foot cord all together to reach where I was working.

Although this is technically too much distance for the amperage I needed, I had no problems in the two days that I used it in this service. If I wanted an equivalent cord from anywhere else, it would have cost at least $20 more- I checked after I purchased this one.

I bought this 50′ extension cord to use when the power go’s out, It works perfectly to hook up our TV and also a floor lamp, plus the computer. It’s a heavy duty cord and should last for many years, I especially like the lighted plug that lets you know that you have power to the cord.

It remains very pliable and is easy to store and uncoil when you need to use it. Once uncoiled, it remains fairly flat on the floor or ground, depending where you are using it.

Designed and manufactured for serious use and safety in your home. I can actually plug in my small tower heater and because it extends the reach 6 ft. more I can move my heater closer to me. Great for heavy-duty appliances as well.

I had hoped the LED was on both ends, ( almost standard for this type of product) which might add. 03 cents to the production. Nobody wants to go the the end of the cord and find out there isn’t any power.

Its heavy duty as expected from Bayco. The really bad is the light is barely visible even in lower light. You have to cup your hand around the plug to tell its on.

The insulation is a little less supple than I would have liked. In cool weather (60 degrees( the insulation acted stiff, this is a 14 gage cord which makes it heavy but it felt like it was the cover not the wire itself that was stiff.

I have a 50 foot 12 gage cord that is much softer to “roll” up. The lighted end is really nice, I work in enviotments that the supple outlets sometimes are not working, the lighted tap end really makes it nice.

You see where the problem is instantlly. Over all, a good cord at a great price. I would buy it again if I needed another cord.
