20 Best Exfoliator For Clogged Pores (2023 Updated)

I don’t really get all the fuss – this hasn’t done anything for my skin, but does cause a hassle fitting it in to my routine. Been using this for a full month, just mornings for the first week (v mild reaction which settled quickly) then morning and evening – it is thick and oily (which I personally quite like) so you have to go and do something else for 15 mins or so while it dries/sinks in – this is a pain! It makes my skin look temporarily tighter for a few hours, but heck does it dry it out in order to do that – I have to use a lot of moisturiser when using this, or my skin is dried out and crinkly by lunchtime.

I’ve seen no change in my congested chin, nose and other areas of blocked pores. Disappointed – folks do love to talk of miracles and magic here, and I’ve had congested skin for a long time – I really fell for it but sadly no ‘miracle’ results for me.

Just got word that no you’re discontinuing your Warming Anti-Blemish In-Shower Flash Treatment and I am absolutely beside myself!! Years ago, you changed the composition of the Pore Unclogging Scrub so I had to switch to the Warming one because it was the only one left with the same texture as the original Pore Unclogging Scrub.

The newer texture of the Pore Unclogging Scrub still remains absolute garbage and literally does NOTHING to help gently exfoliate the face like the Warming Anti-Blemish In-Shower Flash Treatment did.

You have other scrubs on the market that contain charcoal for exfoliation but they are all too rough for my sensitive skin. The Warming Anti-Blemish In-Shower Flash Treatment was the happy medium between the current Pore Unclogging Scrub and the abrasive others.

PLEASE BRING BACK THE Warming Anti-Blemish In-Shower Flash Treatment or at least release a product with its same composition!!!!.

I don’t normally use products with added fragrance in them in my face, however, I live Down South, and where I stay it is hot and humid here almost all year round. I bought this cleanser to use periodically during the Spring and Summer Seasons.

What actually drove me to purchase it was seeing that Taraji P. Henson actually uses this to cleanse her face with. And, her complexion both with and without makeup is truly stunning beyond belief. Now, even though I have very sensitive, dry/very dry, acne prone skin, plus I am an eczema sufferer, I already knew before I bought this facial cleanser that Taraji’s skin may be able to handle this cleanser in a daily basis, but that mines definitely can’t.

Plus, I am a Retin A (tretinoin) user, so I will only use this cleanser on a limited basis. Yes, this cleanser is drying to my face, however, I currently use barrier repair products that I rotate between on my face.

The most universal barrier repair cream that I recommend to all skintypes is Etude House’s A2x Barrier Intensive Repair Cream. Yes, this cleanser is formulated for oily skin, but my skin is most prone to getting a number of pimples show up when the Spring weather approaches all the way through Summer and even sometimes beyond that, even though I am currently on Retin A.

This cleanser from what I have seen didn’t use to have salicylic acid in it, but the big bottle I bought of it does actually have a percentage if it in there, so there definitely has been an ingredient change that’s taken place with this stuff for sure.

This cleansing deeply cleans and purifier my pore, however, it isn’t a product that I choose to use on a regular basis, because there is a level of harshness to it, along with it having salicylic acid in it and fragrance too, which while being on Retin A is super risky.

So. even though some people may be able to use this product perfectly 2x a day everyday, I always recommend listening to your skin and understanding just how much it can actually take and to always have good barrier repair product on hand, especially if you have very sensitive/ sensitive skin.

Now, I do own the acne control version as well. I decided to pick that up too, because I was curious about both formulas, and that one is a bit more drying than this one, but they both relatively work the same at deeply cleansing ones skin and purifying ones pores and helping to keep ones face from looking greasy in warm weather.

Spring is almost here where I live at and it has been around 80 degrees as a high almost daily now, with the humidity steadily rising, so even though my skin is still dry, I do have to deal with sweating issues, which can most certainly contribute to the formation of acne.

So, I think that you can’t go wrong with either unless there are ingredients in either product that you already are allergic to or would just rather refrain from using altogether. And, yes, with the menthol inside, it will give off afoo g sensation to the skin when applied, but it should never be an intense burning feeling that you should ordinarily feel with this product.

If so, then what you are dealing with is an allergic reaction. Oh, and for the sake of your skin, I don’t recommend anyone using this cleanser or the scrub version on their face for longer than 60 seconds, no matter what the co diction of your skin is, even if it’s relatively on the normal side.

Oh, and if you happen to be on any prescription acne medication, especially Retin A, please use this on the days and/or nights when you do not plan on applying Retin A onto your face. I do happen to go days in between applying Retin A to my face, as I have learned that applying harsh prescription acne meds to my face everyday, dries and super irritates my face and causes lots of inflammation, terrible stinging and redness to my face.

It’s all about understanding just how much your face can truly take at any given time. Any skintype can most definitely be acne prone. And, even though I know a product can be recommended for use on oily or oily, acne prone skin, it most surely doesn’t mean that it can’t be tried by individuals with other skintypes.

Now, if you do happen to use this product and experience an immediate reaction, please stop use of it immediately, switch to a more soothing cleanser instead and you can use Benadryl cream to help clear things up on your face and/or neck, okay.

I swear by this stuff. I use it everyday because it really helps cut down on my acne. Great for melanated skin. If you have sensitive skin, don’t rub it in too hard or the texture could be a bit abrasive.

Is very mild and great for picky/allergy prone skin that doesn’t react well to different products. Doesn’t necessarily super-hydrate, but it doesn’t dry your skin out at all. It has the softest scent that you only notice when putting it on.

The scent is pleasant, but it doesn’t last longer than a few seconds.

I have oily combination skin with lots of blackheads and big pores. So I like using a daily scrub that doesn’t make me red after using and helps keep oil away. I’ve used this once but I definitely like that it’s a soft scrub, nothing like a sugar scrub or coffee.

Just light beads and I just keep adding a little water to my fingers to scrub it in. Afterwards my face felt clean, didn’t leave me red which is huge for me. I was using cliniques scrub but after finding out they still test on animals I had to ditch it.

So happy pacifica has great working products and still saving the planet and animals! You can’t go wrong with this brand and it’s prices!.

I got this as a gift. First of all, it smells so good: it’s light and refreshing and really smells like a fresh cucumber. The scrub is very gentle- definitely not a deep exfoliator, but truly a daily scrub.

I use mine only a few times a week as a personal preference for my skin but I don’t think it would hurt at all to use it every day. The bottle is also pretty and the pump is somehow very satisfying. As with any scrub, make sure you rinse thoroughly so you don’t find little scrub bits tucked in your skin crevices later on.

This scrub is really nice and it is very gentle but still feels like it is exfoliating. It left my skin feeling really soft and nice and not stripped. I have been trying more and more pacifica stuff and finding they are a very under-rated brand.

I received a bottle of this in my FabFitFun box and looked up the price online, and was skeptical of how it could possibly live up to its worth. But honestly, I’ve been using it for a couple of months now and I love it.

It really is like giving yourself a mini facial. My face feels so smooth and looks great after each use. I use it maybe twice a week, and I will probably purchase the mini when I’m finished this bottle.

You only use a little bit at a time so I feel a mini is probably best for ensuring you have the freshest product. Also a note, I have very sensitive skin and this hasn’t irritated me at all. I rub it onto my face in small circles and let it sit for about 2 minutes before I wash it off as instructed.

I usually just do it while I’m in the shower and shave my legs or whatever while I’m letting it sit. I’m not really a mask person so I love the relative low maintenance of using this, and not having to sit around with something on my face for 20-30 minutes.

It is very expensive but overall I would recommend it.

Before using this product, I had previously use the pore refining scrub, which for me, worked amazingly, and I highly recommend it. Using it, It didn’t cause me any breakouts, and reduced acne how it was suppose to.

Then, I switched to the Deep Cleansing Scrub. This was a big mistake. After my first day of using the product, I noticed that the consistency of the scrub was a lot thinner than the other, and it had a strange, unpleasant smell to go along with it.

Also, I noticed it seemed to make my face feel hot in temperature. After my first week of using the product daily, I noticed that it seemed that my acne had worsened, and my face was hot to the touch.

I assumed that it was normal, so I continued using the scrub daily. After about 2 weeks of use, my face had a lot more of what I thought was acne, and after doing some research on what was happening I was shocked to realize, no it in fact was not worsened acne, but Hives! My face had broken out in hives, and many of the symptoms I was experiencing where those of hives.

It was itchy, red, and hot to the touch, not to mention very unpleasant! However, my twin brother had much better results, and the product seemed to work for him. I’ve stopped using the product for about week now, and the hives have almost cleared up.

The reason that I rated a 2 star instead of a 1, was because I was satisfied with the results of a previous product from the company, and that it worked well on my brother. Overall, I would most likely not recommend this product to others, and by the off chance that I do, I would warn them to keep and eye on the applied areas, and to stop use immediately if they notice anything strange, or a constant burning sensation after using the product for more than 3 days.

My skincare routine has been a balancing act for years between acne or irritated skin. This and the Burt’s bees acne toner has helped balance my skin quite a bit (late 30’s with cystic hormonal acne).

I am using them regularly. I am able to use mandelic acid 12 % less often and I am using persa-gel 10 % less often as well. I am also taking Dim and evening primrose oil on top of regular women’s daily supplements and it’s all helped me so much.

This wash is also helping my teenage son, who is doing well with this wash and Persia-gel as his daily routine. He’s happy this it’s simple and broke out when we ran out and could only find the Burt’s bees retinol scrub.

It was not as effective for either of us.

I agree with all of the negative reviews of the new formula. The old formula was sooo amazing for my skin and I can’t find anything as good as it. The new formula is thin and sandy, as mentioned by others.

The sandy exfoliation FEELS nice while you’re using it but makes my skin look bad. My skin looked more youthful when I used the old product. The new product also has a blue colored fragrance that is added and separates from the cream.

Every time I open the cap blue dye runs out before the cream. Just bad all around. Not sure why you would change the formula, please go back to the old formula!.

Fantastic product. This exfoliator has a creamy but very thin consistency with tiny soft particles that rub but do not scratch. When applied on the face with a little bit of water, it lathers very creamy.

Doesn’t burn if some gets in the eyes. Very gentle and non irritating. But the magic happened after I rinsed and dried my face. It glows! Same effect almost as the glow recipe dewy niacinamide drops serum! WOW I was not expecting that.

It looks like my face was polished! I look so healthy and glowy when I use this exfoliator! Amazing. wish it was not so expensive. but the bottle is huge and you need to use this 2-3 times a week, a little goes a long way and this will last months!.

Many reviews I’ve read discuss a changed formula, the minty smell missing, a greasy feel, & even discuss the original exfoliator being discontinued!I believe I know EXACTLY what is going on here. I purchased what i believed to be the original Clinique exfoliator, but when I used it, It had all of the above factors as well! I was thoroughly disappointed as I believed that the original exfoliator had been replaced.

However after examining my packaging the tubes does look the same but it has different wording. THis product is nothing like it used to be and in a smaller container. It has no refreshing feeling like it used to in the 1990 and 2000’s. Its like dirt. I use baking soda now to get a really good scrub and follow up with a good soap.

This product has become a disapointment. Sparkle skin is no good any mory either. No tingle. Try using sugar instead and maybe putting some menthol in it. Clinique is really short changing us on the scrubs.

The soaps are still great and the lotions are awesome. But This.

I originally bought this exfoliate because it was non-comedogenic and my skin needs a physical and chemical exfoliate to get the job done. This is probably the worst exfoliate I have ever used. It barely has any granules in the product to actually exfoliate the dead skin off your face.

It didn’t even look like exfoliated at all when I used it. I also didn’t find that it deep cleaned my skin either. It felt like it just sat on my skin to add a bit of moisture back in and that was it.

Will be returning and wouldn’t buy it again.

I’ve been using this cleanser for several years and it is incredible for my combination normal/oily skin! It keeps my pores clear and that helps the large pores around my nose look smaller. My skin looks brighter and the daily exfoliation helps with fine lines and wrinkles.

It doesn’t dry out my skin, but it has helped to balance out the oily around my nose. My skin looks and feels firmer when I use this cleanser versus something else. I have always tried to take good care of my skin and this product has help to keep my 52 year old skin looking much younger than it is.

This is my go to face wash and not only have I bought it time after time, I almost always buy two at a time! I am 68 years old and I have been using this product for about 5 years. I have large pores on my face and I find that this product has lessened the look of those pores. My skin is much smoother and beautiful.

I’ve been using this every other day for a few weeks now, and it’s not for me. I have oily skin, and even using this every other day, the amount of alcohol this face wash dried out my skin to the point where I have peeling in some areas.

I also have an issue with acne from PCOS, and normally can get it under control with Clinique Pep Start scrub and Target brand benzoyl peroxide spot treatment. For the most part, I have very minimal acne and breakouts using those products.

So I expected a acne fighting face wash to deliver the same or better results as what I was currently using… which is why I gave it a try. Unfortunately that’s not the case. Using the Differin scrub, I had more pimples per breakout and much longer breakouts.

There are still some large cystic acne spots I had developed during the first few days of using the Differin scrub that have not gone away weeks later… to include on my body, not just my face, as I use scrub on my face and upper body.

I had to stop using the Differin as of yesterday because I personally think it’s making my acne worse. I give the product 2 stars because I do think it’s a good chemical exfoliant. It left my skin very smooth, and it did instantly brighten as claimed.

But as I said before, the extreme dryness and more intense acne that just won’t go away, this product is not for me. I also can’t recommend it as I do feel it is the Differin product affecting my skin like this since it’s the only thing I changed in my routine.

It’s unfortunate that I’m not better with photos, but the large acne spots you can see are the ones I’ve had for weeks since I started using the scrub. There’s also quite a bit of smaller acne stuck under the skin that isn’t showing up well on photos, and I’m surprised the chemical exfoliant hadn’t taken care of that, but it stands to reason that something else is aggravating my skin more.

As a forward, let me say that I LOVE Differin Gel as a retinol/acne treatment. But this is not Differin Gel. This is their brightening exfoliator. I’m not actually sure what this stuff is supposed to do.

It smells mostly like nothing, but vaguely chemically. It has a ton of little green micro-beads in it, which at best, I hope are biodegradable. My research didn’t turn up much in that department, so it’s possible that the micro-beads are biodegradable and environmentally friendly, or maybe not? I don’t know? Either way, I’m dubious of micro-beads in general, and in this case I didn’t feel like they really do anything.

I was expecting to feel some kind of exfoliation from them, but the remainder of the product is kind of slimy and the micro-beads can’t do their job. I don’t feel exfoliated at all. Not exactly sure how it’s supposed to brighten either.

I do feel slightly (VERY SLIGHTLY) moisturized, but still needed to apply a moisturizer after the shower. Also- it takes a LOT of product to “exfoliate” your arms and legs so I could see this being a frequently purchased product (read: expensive), with very little return on the investment.

I needed some time to sit on this product and really let it work before giving an honest review. When I first tried it I did not go through the initial “pimple week” I usually get when starting a new product.

This week in general is your skin acclimating to the product and the product clarifying your skin. I’m not sure if it was a good thing or bad thing that I did not go through this week but I was surprised because this is an exfoliating product that I expected to bring my impurities to the surface.

Next judgement factor was my period week. Normally I get 3 pimple somewhere in my T-zone and they last the length of my period. This week I got 1 white head and 2 under the skin and the 1 white head lasted only 2 days as opposed to 7 days, however the under the skin ones are still lingering which I normally do not get new ones of.

My next point is that it did get rid of my already existing under the skin acne which I had for over 4 months since I have returned to work and had to wear a mask each day. The texture of the product is nice and not overly rough or irritating.

The scent is not my favorite but it is not overwhelming either. Overall I am not sure I would purchase this particular product but I would be willing to try other products from Differin.

This was my first foray into the ELF world of skincare and I am pleasantly surprised. I grabbed this exfoliating scrub as a last moment purchase not really expecting too much and am thrilled how effective it is.

The grit or scrubby beads are crushed walnut but it’s a very fine grain hat doesn’t tear on the skin. On the contrary, the beads feel like smooth rounded sand particles suspended in a creamy base. It rinses off easily and leaves my skin like it’s been gently smoothed and sanded – the perfect canvas for foundation.

I lovvvve this scrub! Have been looking for a vegan and cruelty free one for a while and was so excited when I came across this. The scent is so light (almost none) and it is not chunky exfoliating bits like some other scrubs.

I received this product for free from Shopper Army in exchange for my honest review. Let me start off by saying that I love Olay products and use several in my daily and nightly routine. Surprisingly I had not seen Olay Regenerist Detoxifying Pore Scrub.

When I uncapped the lid I was very excited because it smelled wonderful! A light clean scent. It is a gel with tiny little particles that gently exfoliate your skin. I didn’t need to use much of the product to cleanse my face and neck.

It lathered up nicely and I liked that I could actually feel the particles gently cleansing my skin. It wasn’t uncomfortable and actually felt quite nice. I patted my face dry and began to continue with my skincare routine.

My face was very soft and had a nice healthy glow to it. I felt like it worked very well with my serums and moisturizers. It actually seemed to work with my other products and left my face more moisturized.

The only advice I have is that it is better to use this in the shower. When I washed (and rinsed thoroughly) over my sink I noticed that there was a lot of the little particles stuck in different areas on my face.

That did not happen in the shower. I highly recommend this and am looking forward to continuing results.

To use, you just wet your face with warm water, gently massage product over face, then rinse with clean water. My face felt very soft and rejuvenated after using this scrub. I felt all the toxins and dirt being removed and my pores became much clearer.

I have also used Olay moisturizers as well and they are nice to use after exfoliating and cleaning with this scrub. I definitely recommend people of all skin types try this scrub and apply a Regenerist moisturizer after for a complete freshly renewed face.

I used to skip scrubs in my skincare routine for quite a long time, because didn’t see any advantage. Most of them were rough, and might have traumatized my skin. Until once I got sample of this Medik8 scrub.

This one really makes a difference to my dense oily skin, as if it is polishing and smoothing it, and yet is delicate enough. So yes, I bought a full size product.

I have been using Pore Refining Scrub as part of my skincare routine and it’s one of my must favourites. It doesn’t irritate skin (I mine is sensitive, often dry). It’s great as either part of the express pick-me-up in the morning when I feel that my skin looks a bit dull or evening pamper routine – I sometimes leave it on for a few minutes whilst relaxing in the bath.

Skin feels smoother and more even straight after. Love it.

This product is one of my favourite ones out there. It is very delicate on your skin and does not cause redness. Of course depending on what your skin type is. Recommend for people who do not like to use harsh exfoliating products.

This exfoliator is gentle enough to be used daily. Personally, I use this every other day, or whenever my skin feels gritty and uneven. It has also helped preventing and healing my pimples and breakouts.

This is a great scrub if not for the presence of some chemicals (SLS, Alcohol, salicylate) and microplastics. While the exfoliation for this cleanser is not microbeads but from Jojoba beads and olive stone, it does list Acrylates Copolymer as a stabilizing ingredient.

Honestly I loved this face wash. I did notice breakouts more though. Tabatha Brown suggested this brand and she’s vegan maybe is to why she didn’t receive any breakouts. I did notice an improvement in the brightness of my skin.

I seen one of the ingredients at Sodium P -something (honest I think was a 3 Part word). At the time that I was using it I read from a dermatologist and serval articles that the ingredients makes you break out.

So I stopped using all together.

I absolutely love this exfoliator, as well as a lot of the other seaweed line products! I still have some issues with acne (mainly due to stress or hormones), so have been using the tea tree line for the past year as my main cleansing routine.

I’ve dabbled in the Vitamin C line with TBS as well, and love that as well. My acne seemed to get under control with both of these, and I’d have times when I felt my skin was really clear (I’ve written reviews in favor of the tea tree line).

However. I just tried the seaweed products and WOW! Don’t get me wrong, tea tree is great! But lately I’ve been feeling like it may be just a bit too strong for me. My acne is not bad—just random pimples that pop up at the same times (high stress), sometimes being cystic.

My issue has been more of trying to get rid of the scarring from before, and keeping new break outs at bay. Tea tree helped, but I thought the other week “what if it’s just a bit too strong for what I need? And it’s actually not helping as much as I thought?” So, I ordered the seaweed exfoliator, facial cleanser and toner.

It definitely seems to be helping me more! My face feels so much smoother, and the scarring seems to have lessened. I still have some pimples (YAY stress!!!), but the seaweed line seems to be helping me more than the tea tree, just because FOR MY SKIN TYPE it’s better suited.

My acne is still an issue but it is not extensive, so the strictly acne line is no longer as appropriate for me. I’m getting a bit older so I’m focusing more on brightening my skin as well as getting rid of acne/scarring.

The seaweed and Vitamin C lines combined have been helping me greatly! If you have acne, but it isn’t extensive, definitely try seaweed! If it is extensive, I would also recommend tea tree!.
