20 Best Essential Oil Air Freshener (2023 Updated)

I am so disappointed with Air Wick and this new “Smells Amazingly Natural”. That is so far from the truth. The new scent has been nauseating at best. Everyone that stepping into my house asked what that smell was.

Needless to say, we no longer buy Air Wick Scents. I’d say even worse than that, all these review on their own website express the same thing. I am so disappointed that there has been zero response from the “marketing team” whom I was told would get back to me.

I would hope that all these reviews would be enough to fix what they broke! It was not broke to begin with so Go back to the previous version which actually smelled like Lavender.

The new lavender and chamomile does not compare to the previous scent. I hardly ever write reviews but I feel strongly enough about the loss of the previous Lavender and Chamomile Air Freshener to take the time to write this.

There was a pleasant and non-cloying quality to the old Lavender and Chamomile that I really loved. I am very disappointed in the new scent and am curious why Air Wick felt the need to change the fragrance formula? I immediately noticed the difference and not in a good way.

I won’t be purchasing this fragrance anymore unless the old scent can be restored. The new scent is overtly sweet and not appealing to me.

This used to be a nice, pleasant fragrance. Now, it is one of the most toxic, unpleasant, disgusting, even nauseating scents you will ever experience. If you have a discerning sense of smell, you will not be able to keep this new fragrance in the diffuser for longer than three minutes, and even then, you may have caused a longer-lasting disaster than you bargained for.

The kicker is the new label on the box that says, “New! Smells Amazingly Natural!” Oh, my gosh, what a stretch. This takes the record for the most un-natural fragrance I have ever experienced. Think of an awful, concentrated cleaning fluid, combined with poisonous fireproofing chemicals, and this new fragrance might even be worse.

This is so bad, it had to be intentional. No one that wanted satisfied and/or repeat customers would EVER put out a product like this, especially after ALL the reviews are the worst possible. What an insult.

I will NEVER trust an Air Wick product again.

I have 5 air wick plug-ins and always have used them but lately seems like the smell dissipates faster. I switched to the essential oils as I assume that is healthier. ? So I guess that is clearly why, but now I am having to rethink everything since I can’t afford to buy these constantly!!! I have them on the strongest level and after a week I realize it is burnt out ugh.

Not sure what I’m going to do, but essential oils must be chemical free and therefore I should be not endangering my family with the other ones.

I have one of these! It’s affordable it comes with 8 eesential oils! I love essentials oils! It helps me with my cloggy nose especially during cold season! This brand is affordable I can find the refill of the oils at Rite Aid nearby.

I wish they will improve the packaging making the bottle lid into droplet form because it spills when it’s not handled properly! And also the water marker inside the diffuser needs improvement i hope so cause they just put a piece of plastic label.

This is my favorite diffuser! I own a few by artnaturals and keep one in every room. This diffuser holds 400Ml approx 13ounces. It is all plastic with a wood grain finish. Essential oils that are spilled on wood will take the finish off however the mist from the diffuser is safe.

It has 4 settings continuous, 1hr, 3hr 6hr which all will auto shutoff when water runs out. It also has a clock and can be used as alarm clock. It is Bluetooth so you can sync with your phone, ipod etc.

It’s a nice feature to diffuse the oils of your choice and listen to meditation music or any music. It has 7 different light colors that slowly fade and change or you can choose to keep it on one specific color or not use the light at all.

It is sold alone or with the option of 8 essential oils or 16 essential oils. I chose the option of 16 essential oils. You get a great selection along with a recipe book to create different scents. All of Artnaturals products are reasonably priced.

You can use any brand of essential oil of your choice. The diffuser is strong and puts out a good amount of mist and because it holds 400Ml I find it scents the entire first floor of my home. You can purchase this diffuser with 16 essential oils for $59 and a 25% discount now at Artnaturals.

com it is also sold on Amazon. This was my first diffuser and I have had it over 2yrs or more and it is still going strong. I have bought this as a gift for friends and family and they all love it. My main reason for purchasing this diffuser was the amount it held, the clock and Bluetooth were just extra perks.

The product works wonderfully, the oil selection is wide, and the color changing feature is a really nice touch! One of the best diffusers I have used thus far. The water tank is large, and the oils are high quality.

The timing feature is also quite nice; it leaves a lot of room for usage! Great product, and really responsive customer service.

In September 2020, I received one of these Air Wick Essential Mist, Apple Cinnamon Medley, starter kits from Sampler to try out. I was really excited because the previous year at my boyfriend’s mother’s house I’d kept seeing this little vaporous ghost out of the corner of my eye and it took me the better part of a week to figure out what was happening (we were dog/house sitting).

I mean I realized pretty quickly that nice fragrance came with the “ghost” it just took forever to catch the little machine in the act! I much preferred the Apple Cinnamon Medley scent I received, which is a seasonal scent.

It is a totally silent gadget with three settings of fragrance intensity dispersal only. It is either on or off, you can’t alter the 8 hour cycle/schedule it runs on – at least not on the one I have, which is kind of a bummer.

I understand there are some with Bluetooth features now, so there may be more management available on those ones. At the lowest fragrance intensity dispersal setting, the bottle of fragrance oil lasts up to 45 days.

And Air Wick offers a pretty great range of scent options: Lavender Almond Blossom, Mandarin Sweet Tangerine, Coconut Pineapple (I have this one in right now, left over from the end of summer: probably time to change it up, huh?), Sandalwood, Eucalyptus; seasonal scents like Pumpkin Spice, Sweet Fruit Nutmeg, Fresh Pine Juniper; and their Aroma range, Happiness, Sleep, Unwind, etc.

I haven’t listed them all, my posts are long enough as it is! The gadget requires 3-AA batteries, so keep that in mind, but it isn’t a quickly draining device so it doesn’t eat them up. It’s possible that some of the newer ones even charge up with USB or something, I don’t know, but I’d believe it.

If I find out they do, and are programmable, I may have to upgrade, if they’re not crazy expensive. But I really do love my cute yet discreet little ghost maker.

I bought this Air Wick Essential Mist diffuser to try because it was practically FREE [ thanks to couponing]! Although, I’m not a fan of the lavender scent alone, I loved the Lavender and Almond Blossom fragrance, so I figured it was worth the try, even if it were just for the review.

The size of the diffuser is perfect for small spaces such as guest bathrooms or office spaces. This device uses three AA batteries and the oil replacements are pretty expensive. I don’t think this product is worth the ongoing expense.

A simple oil warmer would be a great alternative to use the oil, if you love the fragrance like I do. I did like that the device runs 8 hour cycles before automatically shutting down for 8 hours then starting again.

I cannot emphasize enough how much I LOVE this Air Wick Essential Mist Diffuser! I’ve been looking for something to put in my bathroom to help cover up litter box smells but due to my weird electrical outlets plug ins aren’t an option reed diffusers didn’t do much and/or quickly dried out.

This diffuser runs on batteries which makes it perfect for me! I also like that there are 3 intensity settings and the 8hr/16hr on/off timer is a great feature but I still manually turn mine on off each day to try to preserve the batteries.

And the included almond blossom oil smells SO GOOD! Like I would seriously wear that scent as a body lotion or body spray or body wash if it was available! My only hiccup was it didn’t seem to be working at first and I had to troubleshoot the problem.

I could see the blue light come on but no mist was coming out. Set up was super easy and even though I heard the ‘click’ as instructed when installing the oil cartridge apparently I didn’t push it up far enough to reach whatever is activating the mist.

Once I did that it worked great! Other people/reviews who said theirs didn’t work might have been having the same issue. ??.

I recently purchased this scent and I have to say that I am impressed. It smells as though you’ve just taken a nice long warm bath and the scent of the shower is just lingering on. I seriously was not expecting it to smell this good and soothing.

It is strong but not overpowering, it’s just a lovely scent. I love walking in my house to this scent I get excited. Again guys it is not your typical vanilla scent, I thought it would be as well it is not.

That brown sugar and whatever chemistry that is used to make this definitely enhanced it and gives it a kick. I’m definitely stocking up before they discontinue this. If executives are reading this DONT, IT IS BOMB!.

Oh my this is the BEST smell! I love it please don’t discontinue this item. This is my very favorite scent now. It smells like being at Grandma’s house its strong but not OMGosh I can’t breathe kind of smell.

You can smell it thru out the house. Try it you’ll love it. The hit of the brown sugar is so sweet with the vanilla.

I got the 2 pack of Air Wick’s Brown Sugar Vanilla. It smells soooo good! It reminds me of a cookie with brown sugar vanilla extract. It’s sweet, but not too sweet. I plugged it in my bedroom it makes the room smell great! I plan on buying more before they run out because this has become one of my top favorite plug in scents.

I have always wanted one of these things but I wasn’t sure if I would like the scents they offered. When I saw the Pumpkin Spice was out this year I felt like getting my Autumn on and going for it. It was easy to put together with minimal effort on my part and they include batteries with it (sorry Planet Earth).

It poofed out some misty stuff that smelled really good. I left it in the dining room and was pleased. Later that day I walked into the dining room and expected pumpkin fall splendor. But, nothing. I was perplexed.

Did it quit working? I turned it up full speed ahead, more poofs came. An hour later? No fall pumpkin splendor. It turns out that when it poofs out the misty stuff, you had better be right next to it, or you will miss the mist.

Their website says “1 refill lasts up to 45 days, based on lowest intensity setting. ” Huh? I can’t smell it on that setting. wait I can’t smell it on the “highest intensity setting” either. It is almost empty 10 days later.

I realize it is a “gentle fragrance” but the absence of fragrance unless you are sitting on top of it like a chicken trying to hatch an egg doesn’t seem very gentle. I should have bought a pumpkin with my $10.

97 instead of this, it would have probably had more fragrance.

This is one of my favourite refills for the mist diffuser. It has a lovely orange blossom & lime scent that feels natural and importantly it also isn’t overpowering. I like to use my on a medium setting, I’ve had it for nearly a month now and it’s still going strong, these refills really do last a long time.

I love the inclusion of essential oils inside the product, it definitely makes the mist diffuser a much more premium option compared to a traditional air freshener while still being great value. Highly recommend for any room in the house, remember you can always experiment with the different intensity settings on the diffuser if you’d like to increase or decrease how much the scent fills the room and thanks to the timer it won’t go off during the night.

I’m so sad about this item. I was so happy when I first got it, it worked so good for like 5 months in my bedroom. I moved it to the bathroom and it worked for a week and finally gave up just like everyone says in the comments.

It started making a loud whistle noise. I also noticed the little oil bottle would be so oily. So it was wasting product and nothing was coming out I no longer smelled anything mind you my whole bedroom would smell for days.

It would let out mist every few hours but yeah it stopped and it’s not the batteries. I really wanted to love it especially because it’s nice and small. Plus the oils smell great but… guess not.

I have tried out about 4 diffusers, 3 oil burners (where you light the tea light below it), and 2 wax melters. This diffuser bears ALL of them! First, it’s GORGEOUS! I purchased the white stone color and it’s well made, not cheap and light, and asthestically pleasing.

Better than elevating my decor, it diffuses oils beautifully. I love expensive oils, which means using 20 drops can become hard on the wallet, but this bad boy only needs 5 drops to fill up my entire living area and hallway with a wonderful aroma.

If you like a light scent I’m sure you could even get away with less. It also has multiple settings where it can go until it’s out of water or you can set it for 1, 3, or 5 hours! I love that I can set it to an hour and then it turns itself off so I don’t need to refill it everytime I want my house to smell delicious.

Purchase this, you won’t regret it! I’m about to buy another for my bedroom vanity.

This was my second attempt at purchasing a diffuser, although my first with Vitruvi. It is a perfect size with a natural dome over top a plastic reservoir. It has settings for both an 8 hr and 4 hr cycle and a built in light ring.

It’s quiet and works incredibly well. My only learning curve was to dial back on the initial suggestion of quantity essential oil. It was a bit overpowering with 20 drops, but that may been my initial essential oil choice too.

I am amazed at how well it works. I can place it in my open concept living room and smell the essential oil being diffused in a room thirty feet away. It is easy to fill and use, and a perfect compliment to any room with its size, shape and style.

I will definitely plan to purchase any other diffusers from this company.

The colour is ok. Not as pretty as it looks online. The diffuser has a weird, sandpaper, rough concrete like texture and another commenter mentioned it started showing finger prints and wear from constantly being touched which I can see how that would happen with this texture.

The stream the diffuser gives off doesn’t seem as strong as my saje diffuser which is of very similar size. The actual stone canister and plastic lid insert take a good bit of twisting with both hands to take off when you want to refill it.

When the unit stops diffusing at either 4 or 8 hours, there’s still some water left in the unit as well which is odd. The light settings are perfect though. Would I buy it again or recommend to a friend? No, I don’t think so.

I have been using plug-ins for years. I do love clean linen and sheer vanilla embrace. The Hawaiian one, although I love how it smells when I have smelled it in other people’s homes, it gives me a headache.

Way to strong initially. However, regardless of the scent, I always change after a month or so because I can no longer smell it after awhile. Frustrating to me. Am I the only one? But it still hasn’t deterred me from continuing to buy them.

This is the first time I have purchased the Glade brand in the Cinnamon Apple flavor and man oh man I am so happy I did! We have a ranch style, elongated house and I plugged one into an outlet in our receiving room which is in the front part of the house and we could smell it down the hallway when we came out of our bedrooms.

It is not at all over powering. It is a very pleasant, noticeably, soft scent but definitely there. I will be buying this scent again every year starting in the fall!.

I have recently returned to using this type freshener because it’s more economical than the can type!! I have a large house, so I go through them very quickly!! I wish they came in a larger size to eliminate waste! I have allergies and these don’t irritate me like some do!.

I absolutely LOVE this spray! I always use and love my lavender room/body spray, but it just wasn’t cutting it for REALLY removing smells throughout the house. I’ve always wanted to try this brand and I hate that it took me so long.

I’m so glad I chose the rose scent. It smells exactly like I have my nose in a dozen roses…natural, light, not fake smelling. I also love that I can spray 1 (one spray) time in the bathroom and it makes the entire room smell like roses for several hours.

Is this spray always this effective? If so, I’m hooked and will repurchase forever. I’d like to also try one or two other scents, but right now, this scent is a winner! If you like the smell of roses, buy this and you won’t be disappointed! I was just about to give up on my quest for a great, affordable, natural, long lasting room spray, when something in my gut said, “try it…what have you got to lose?” Try it….

Take it from someone who knows. You won’t be sorry. I came back to buy more and they’re sold out. Please keep carrying this Target. Also, whoever packed my shipment, thank you for taping the top of the spray bottle so well that it wouldn’t open or leak.

I accidentally bought this scent thinking I grabbed the honeysuckle one. I am so pleasantly surprised by this scent. I usually hate floral smells and they tend to give me a headache. This one is perfection.

It’s light, doesn’t over power the room, but is still noticeable and smells so fresh. This is my first time trying a Mrs. Meyer’s product and I am so impressed. Buying more bottles as I’m writing this since it says limited edition and I don’t want to ever run out of it.

It’s a must buy!.

We love this spray! Honestly, when my husband came home with this I wasn’t very happy that he spent $5 on a room freshener that seems small. However, it is sooo worth it!! It is aromatherapy for us. I did notice that it didn’t smell like 100% lavender oil.

So I looked at the ingredients and it contains Orange peel oil. We absolutely love it and it is very theraputic for us. Our kids love it too. It gives us peace of mind that it is not harmful for them because they like to run around the room as the spray settles down because they love it so much.

We made it a habit to spray the room before bedtime to get us all relaxed and when we lay down there is slight hint of it on our pillows from when the spray settles down. We decided to get another one for the bathroom because it is a good odor eliminator.

We were also pleasantly surprised that it doesn’t take much spray to enjoy it and it also lingers for a while so it is not a small bottle at all when you see how much spray you actually need. Very happy with my husband’s purchase!.

This little air freshener is small and unassuming but substantial. It doesn’t feel like it would fall over with most noises. However, the bottom has two of the tiniest screws I have ever seen keeping the thing together.

I had to use fingernail clippers/file to unscrew them. Why not just use the standard snap on cover?? Added three batteries and the vile and popped it back together. I didn’t even need to replace the screws as it just stayed together.

I placed it up on top of a medicine chest so it won’t get knocked over. The best thing I like about this as compared to other similar items by other brands is this produces just a puff and it goes straight UP not outward where it would blast you in the face should you walk by at the wrong time.

I recommend it for sure but those screws need to go.

I bought this AIRWICK Essential Mist Starter Kit in scent Lavender and Almond Blossom that came with a refill then bought an extra refill with an AIRWICK Coupon from TARGET! There was only one other scent choice and it was out of stock! This scent is by far not my fave yet it is effective! I use it for the commode in bathroom! It refreshens and makes bugs stay away! The electronic battery diffuser is easy to use like to assemble and disassemble! It lasts long and is budget friendly! There is a time releasement feature on the diffuser so it is hassle free! It is great for individuals at times that may be sensitive! There is also a blue light feature for easy detectable scent releasement! There should be more scent choices! It is effective for running on its own and refrshening the room! Recommend!.

I absolutely love this little diffuser. I have purchased 6 for my house, 2 for my shared office at work and 1 for my vehicle. A couple of my co-worker are not fond of the scent that purchased and that why I’m writing this.

I had hoped that Air Wick offered a sampler bottle kit. Recently, I purchased an essential oils diffuser for my wife that came with 12 small bottles of oils for the diffuser. If Air Wick had a kit with all the available scents, I would certainly be the first to buy it.

I was excited about receiving this product because it looks sleek and non-discreet and the scents appear to be good. I am a huge fan of Lavender so I was especially excited to try this. I am slightly disappointed in the scent.

There is no Lavender smell at all! It only smells like Almond Blossom. Almond Blossom does smell nice so it’s not too bad but there is no Lavender scent at all. Another big thing that I don’t like is on the lowest setting you can’t really smell it at all, and you can only slightly smell it on the middle setting.

You only get the full effect on the highest setting, which at that level I doubt it truly lasts for 45 days. On the highest level the smell traveled from the office on the second floor all the way down to the front door in the living room, that scent filled the entire upstairs and downstairs inside the house.

Even though that’s good at the highest level I don’t think it will last 45 days. It’s an okay investment if you are considering something that will give your home a nice scent before company comes or when you have guests in your home, but to have something that constantly scents your home, I would be prepared to buy these more frequently because they won’t make it 45 days on the highest setting where you can truly smell them.

I don’t normally use air fresheners. I sometimes use essential oils or incense, depending on mood. I veer away from air fresheners possibly because of unknown chemicals, but more so that I don’t want to smell something really cloying that maybe belongs in a urinal.

I was really surprised by this fragrance oil. It smells quite good. I smell lavender, vanilla and ‘clean/fresh. ‘ The unit comes pre packed with an oil and batteries. There are three settings that control how often it emits scent.

I was somewhat disappointed to find that this product can only be reused with an appropriate refill. I think the marketing on the package leads you to believe it’s an essential oil diffuser. It might work in a similar fashion, but you’re not going to diffuse your own oils in this.

The unit itself is designed to look clean and sleek. The blue LED is off until it dispenses scent. The timer has three different functions. The unit is set to run on an 8hr cycle and then it turns off.

No forgetting about this one. Would think this would be really good in an office or small store setting.

It was okay. I still believe the natural oils in this scent were affected by the abrupt cold weather/snow we had here (New Mexico) right after ordering and during delivery, which made the scent almost non-existant.

When the bottles were received they were extremely cold to the touch and I could tell they had been that way for some time. I informed ScentFill who suggested it might be due to my possibly needing a stronger scent.

Um. no. I ve worked with essential and non-essential oils for over 30+ years. I know that essential oils can be severely affected by long term exposure to cold or heat; doesn’t take much. I did not expect an exchange a refund or exchange from ScentFill (and told them so).

I just wanted to let them know. I really like ScentFill and their products. What I didn’t like was being dismissed like I my obsevation was due to my possibly needing a stronger scent. Will I order from ScentFill again.

This is a very nice scent, really clean and natural. The smell gives me the feeling that I’ve just walked into a spa, I’m sitting in my robe and waiting for the massage therapist to walk out and call me in for my appointment.

It smells like a blend of citrus and chamomile. The scent definitely wafts into other rooms in my home at the 3/8ths setting on my AirWick plug in. I think it’s a good scent for a short time but personally, I’m not sure if I would like to smell it all the time.

I am going to try other scents from the company that are a bit more masculine. I would classify this scent as a neutral scent for all homes.

This one is a little too subtle for my taste that is the 3 star reason. It is a sweet hint of romantic rose so would probably be great in a bedroom. It really does smell great but I am a strong scent lover so my measure of subtlety would probably be perfect strength for the average sniffer.

I recommend this scent for sure.

I bought three of these. The first two were the older design. One of those leaked oil on a table somehow. I figured best to get this new design which has the flat top. Well after only 3 months it is no longer working.

It will emit mist if I turn it off and then on, but then nothing after that. The Airwick website doesn’t offer any good advice on what to do. Other people having the same problem had ideas but I really don’t think an item so new should be having problems.

Great idea, nice scents, but just not worth the cost or hassle if it is only going to last 3 months.

Got my mini a couple weeks ago and it has been great! The smell is amazing. We have a fairly small first floor and I keep it on low. So it gets most of the main area, but not into the downstairs bedroom.

Which I don’t think I would really expect it too. I could turn it up I’m sure if I really wanted. But I plan to get another for the upstairs, as well as our Airbnb’s. Expensive but so far I believe it’s worth the price!.

INDEED- they DO‼️‼️‼️ We are new to Aromatech and have had our home, mini diffusers for almost 30-days now. Our home smells AMAZING and everyone, who enters has commented that our home smells FABULOUS for having so many animals.

Totally exceeded my expectations! I love the way that the steam pours out of the top of the pod and you can choose to have it on constant or every 30 seconds. There are also two light settings. Leaves an amazing scent in the room! The restorative oil is my absolute favourite and is like being at a posh spa.
