20 Best Espresso Machine Under $2000 (2023 Updated)

This particular product is really great. Thanks so a U-Tube video I’ve learned quickly and easily how to make great capuccinos and espressos. My husband is still using the old fashioned espresso maker for the stove top and I can make me Capu is just a few minutes.

The materials that it is made of are top notch. I literally had one of these in the back of a closet for over 15 years and it is working like new and looking like new. I bought this one for our son and significant other and they love it.

I feel like a real barrista now and it has simplified my mornings big time. The seller included some nice accessories that were greatly appreciated.

I was a Nespresso skeptic. As a longtime Keurig owner who also enjoyed her french press and making her own pour overs, I thought the Nespresso was too limiting in its coffee selection (can’t use off-brand beans), limiting in its brew size options, and generally overhyped.

Then, I chanced upon a Nespresso sale and, on a whim, bought a VertuoPlus and placed it next to my top-of-the-line Keurig. A month later, I realized that I had been reaching for my Nespresso almost every single morning; my Keurig sat entirely unused.

And by the time I ran out of capsules and logged into the Nespresso website to place an order, I did the math. and I became an all-out convert. Nespresso brews are actually REALLY good, on par with top shelf beans from bougie brands.

Yes, it is a little annoying that I have to keep an assortment of capsules to satisfy my varying coffee needs (sometimes, I feel like an Americano; other times, I feel like an espresso; yet other times, I feel like a giant mug of joe), and peering at the capsules to match brew size to glass/mug is a minor hassle.

But (1) the Nespresso heats up way faster than the Keurig, (2) the Nespresso brews much hotter than the Keurig, and (3) the Nespresso produces much deeper flavor than the Keurig. My best friend comes over nearly every day, and after experiencing my Nespresso coffees for a few weeks, she splurged on a Nespresso machine, too — and the two of us agreed, “Keurig coffees taste so watered down now.

” Not long after that, I retired my neglected Keurig to the garage (and eventually gave it away). When my VertuoPlus started leaking a few years in, I contacted Nespresso customer service and was shocked.

(1) I was able to speak to a live human with very little wait, and (2) his service was impeccable. How refreshing! As this was at the very start of the pandemic, he warned me that repairs may take an unusually long time — so he offered to exchange my faulty machine for a brand new one (any machine, my choice) at no cost to me! After quickly researching, I settled on the Nespresso Next, which had only been released in the US that week, even though it had no reviews whatsoever anywhere, because of its supposedly smaller footprint (I have a small kitchen with limited counter space).

The Next was actually slightly cheaper than the VertuoPlus, but I didn’t mind at all, since they were replacing my years-used VertuoPlus for a brand new machine. But no — the rep added a few sleeves of coffee (my choice!) to even out the cost differential.

How awesome is that! The Next was great, but it took a little getting used to the lid mechanism (as I’d been acclimated to the auto open/shut of the VertuoPlus). And if I really had to nitpick, the manual open/shut/lock was probably the only pain — guests often required a quick tutorial because it took a decent amount of force/pressure to properly clamp shut and lock the lid (so many people thought it was broken until I showed them how to do it).

All was well until, 2 years later, the Next started leaking, too, and stopped brewing altogether. Figuring I’d gotten about 4-5 years of use for the cost of one machine (plus, I was out of warranty at this point), I purchased a new machine — and went for the VertuoPlus again, on a whim.

And let me tell you, the auto open/close function that I thought was unnecessary is actually SO CONVENIENT. Maybe my guests and I are just weaklings, but the Next almost always required two hands to open/close/lock; automating this step with very light finger presses is a game changer! It’s also important to note: the Next is advertised as having the smallest footprint out of all the Nespresso machines.

But after owning two VertuoPlus machines and one Next, I must say. I can’t tell the difference. At all. I also like the adjustable water tank on the VertuoPlus way better than the stationary one on the Next.

I have a few off-brand reusable capsules, but the process seems messy and I’m lazy, so I’ve been happily restocking branded capsules for the last half decade. I’m still looking forward to the day that Nespresso machines, like Keurigs, can handle tea, too — but even if they never do, I’m still a happy camper.

I love coffee and have been drinking it daily for over 60 years. But I am the only coffee drinker in my house, and the hassle of making a decent single cup of coffee was always a problem until Keurig came out with its single brew coffee maker in 2006.

The coffee was never great, but it was decent, and the coffee came out hot, which I liked. Recently I acquired the Nespresso Veturo Plus ,and now I’ve finally found my ideal coffee maker. It is more convenient to use than the Keurig, and the coffee is produced is much better.

It appears that this coffee maker is also sold with Breville and De’Longhi labels, but I suspect all three are identical. This coffee maker is very easy to use. Unlike the Keurig, it doesn’t have a setting that keeps the water always hot, but it only takes a minute or so to heat up.

The water reservoir in the Nespresso is larger, meaning you don’t have to refill it as often, and it is much easier to remove, refill and replace than the Keurig. Cleaning is easier, and the Veturo takes up less room on my kitchen counter.

While the Nespresso Veturo line of coffees aren’t as extensive as what is available for Keurig, I found the Nespresso coffees offered to be excellent, with a range of strengths that exceeds that available from my Keurig.

In addition, I sometimes enjoy a double espresso, which the Nespresso makes pretty well. I have read complaints that the coffee doesn’t come out hot enough in the Nespresso machine. But it does. What’s needed is a good, heated insulated cup to keep the coffee hot.

I have found the BTaT- Insulated Coffee Mugs, Glass Tea Mugs, Set of 4 (12 oz, 350 ml), Double Wall Glass Coffee Cups, available from Amazon to be the ideal cup. To make a cup of coffee in the morning I first turn the coffee make on by pressing the button on the top.

I then fill a coffee mug with water and heat it for two minutes in the microwave, meanwhile making my breakfast. When breakfast is almost ready, I pour out the hot water from my cup and brew a cup of coffee in the Nespresso.

If I time it right, breakfast and coffee are ready at the same time, and my coffee is nice and hot for the time it takes to eat my breakfast. A great way to start a day.

I got this as a Christmas gift from my husband. It arrived early because my old Keurig Rivo machine broke and I needed my morning espresso, the regular coffee from an ordinary Keurig just doesn’t cut it for me when I make my morning iced latte.

I have been using this new machine for about 7 weeks and already I am noticing some weird things. The little round well where you put the pod is sometimes 1/3rd full of water AFTER I make my coffee. I don’t know if this is leftover water or water that leaks in after the process of making the coffee happens.

I usually take a paper towel to absorb it so it doesn’t interfere with my new cup, but I don’t think that should be happening, and it isn’t all the time. Also, in the past week or so I am noticing that when the coffee making is done, there is a drip drip drip for another minute or two.

This did not happen when I first got the machine. But the most irritating thing is that the pods don’t always make the same amount of liquid. I bought 12 boxes of pods in 8 different flavors. I am trying to find the exact one for making my lattes.

Some boxes say they make a very small amount, others say 7 or 9 ounces. Well I have become fond of one particular type, Chiaro, and sometimes it makes a lot more than other times. It is possible this is because of the extra water in the well, maybe it was there more often then I noticed, but supposedly the pod tells the machine what to make for an amount, and sometimes it doesn’t work.

I honestly can’t say whether a more expensive version of this Vertuo machine would work better? I got it on a great deal here at QVC (less than $115 and sample pods included) so I won’t complain about the value, but if it needs replacing I would probably go to a different brand or model.

Luckily I make just one drink each morning, and my husband hates coffee so it will get only once daily use. If it lasts for a couple of years, I would be happy. My Rivo machine lasted 6 years and I miss it, I loved the espresso it made and the pods were half the price.

For those who don’t know, you can’t use any other pods in this machine. I found that buying them in bulk right from Nespresso is the best way to go price wise, and their website give a lot of information about flavors of the pods.

I try to be honest in my QVC reviews because I depend on them myself to decide whether to buy something. For the price I paid it is a satisfactory item, but it does have issues and you need to decide if those things matter to you.

Taste wise, depending on the pod it makes a good tasting espresso.

In my first year of ownership, I would have given this product 5 stars. In my second year of ownership, I would have given this product 4 stars. After nearly my fourth year of ownership, I’ve downgraded the rating to just 3 stars.

My reason. reliability, or should I say lack thereof. In the second year, I had to send the machine in under warranty repair, which Breville handled brilliantly by the way. In the fourth year, I had a similar issue of the top of the machine getting way too hot, losing pressure, and dripping water into the tool tray.

Since the machine was no longer under warranty, I decided to open it up and take a look at the internals. I quickly identified a leak on one of the boiler’s fittings and suspected it was a failed O ring.

The problem with hot steam blowing all over the insides of an electric appliance is water condensation causing everything to rust, including electrical ground connections. After my assessment, I came to the same conclusion that Breville most likely would have come to.

the unit was irreparable due to safety concerns caused by water corrosion. While inside the unit, I must say it is a masterpiece of construction and melding of electro-mechanical components that delivered great coffee.

The real question that remains in my mind is, “Is it worth it. again?” What I really liked was the double boiler system, the removable bean hopper, controlling the bean grind, the integrated milk frothing wand with temperature sensor, the auto tamper, large water container, and overall ease of use.

What I didn’t like was the integrated maintenance system; yes it would tell you when to clean the brew unit, but it never told you when to decalcify the machine. When you went into the menu to decalcify, you would often get a “heating” message and seldom the “ready” message.

The first couple of times of me decalcifying the machine, I never got the full instructions to display because it was always in the “heating” state that it never left. Frustrated, I just decalcified the machine based on some videos I watched online and previous experience with other manufacturers’ similar systems.

I believe the failure of my machine was directly linked to the machine not correctly stepping through the decalcification program. The total cost of ownership worked out to about $700 a year, so much cheaper and better than Starbucks fulfilling my daily needed caffeine fixes, but still pricy.

I would buy version 2. 0 of the Oracle Breville Touch in a heartbeat. but not this one again.

Owning and running one of these is comparable to possessing a ’60’s sports car. There are plenty of modern cars that will get you from A to B more quickly, more comfortably, more reliably and less costly than the ’60’s roadster.

but they lack the ‘experience”. The first machine purchased developed a number of irritating faults and had to be exchanged. (Sounds like a car already!) The second machine runs perfectly (so far). It takes a little while to warm up but once underway it performs very well.

Fuelled with the freshly roasted beans of choice the on-board grinder delivers the grind with a powerful growl. The dose can be adjusted manually with internal adjustment to the tamper fan height (no auto-choke here!).

Change your type of fuel and you have to tweak the grind and dose again. just like a ?. need I say anymore? Manually transferring the portafilter to the brew-head and selecting BREW really gets this beast moving.

Without its considerable chassis weight it would doubtless drive itself off the worktop, such is the vibration from the powerful pump. It is not until you change gear and engage the use of the steam wand that this machine really comes into its own and produces superbly heated and foamed milk.

all with your hands off the wheel. A winner in any contest. Having owned a variety of machines, both manual and automatic over the years, I must say that once this beast is tuned it produces a very good coffee.

But I have also had good coffee from other less extensive variants. So why buy it? The enjoyable ride of producing the beverage does not come cheap. but there again nor does the ride in the ’60 roadster.

It’s the experience of the ride you pay for not just the reaching of the end of the journey.

Previously had a top-end, fully automated Delonghi machine – horribly unreliable, too clever for its own good, quality of coffee questionable (I still went to the coffee shop each morning, my wife used it daily).

The Breville Oracle Touch wipes the floor with it. Shop quality coffee that I know drink at home every day. Love the fact it’s smart enough to make each step easier via one-touch screen and coffee memory save etc, but that the moving parts aren’t so complex the machine is prone to breakdown etc.

Machine feels solid and sturdy, is easy to use but still authentic. All parts are high quality. I love using the group handle to make my coffees. I love experimenting with different settings to find ‘just the right coffee’ for me.

Smart enough to turn itself on in the morning and quickly heat up so it’s ready for use when you wake. Really thoughtful touches such as a extendable wheels beneath the machine that you can use to easily maneuvre what is quite a heavy machine on your benchtop to access water reservoir, or just reposition machine on benchtop etc.

Ultimately, makes great coffee. All our friends ask about it when they come over. Takes the necessary parts of automated coffee making, and merges them with the enjoyment of manual coffee making. Oh and kids love frothing their own milk for hot chocolates!.

After much research on Breville’s different models as well as research on other brands, I bought this model for the automatic milk frothing, so other family members can make their own coffee while still having the option of frothing manually.

The steam wand’s auto-purge feature and on-screen reminder makes sure no one forgets to purge the wand. The touch screen presents a menu of drink options and allows customizing your own drinks. It’s also useful for showing cleaning and descaling reminders, which is more informative than flashing lights like with Breville’s screen-less models and cuts down on “family customer support” calls.

I like the process of dialing in a new coffee bag, pulling your own shots with the portafilter, and even trying to learn latte art. It’s become part of the coffee experience and much different from what you would get from a superautomatic machine.

It sits under our kitchen cabinets, so I put a sliding mat underneath to make it easier to refill the large water tank and bean hopper. Without the mat, pulling out the rather heavy machine resulted in the drip tray sloshing water into the storage tray behind it.

The pop-up roller on the higher-end Brevilles was a brilliant idea. Too bad it isn’t on thisTouch. I like how it heats up in a few seconds, instead of several minutes with other brands. A minor gripe is I wished the custom brew temperature setting displayed the actual temperature in C/F like it does for milk steaming, instead of options like “High 1”.

However the fact that you can even easily customize the brew temperature from a touch screen is a huge plus. If Breville made a grinder-less touchscreen model with automatic milk frothing and quick heating in a compact package (Breville, here’s an idea, please: “Bambino Plus Touch”), I would have gone for that and a separate grinder instead.

I am still very happy with this purchase. The whole family loves this espresso maker and it gets used multiple times a day, drastically increasing our family’s consumption of milk and coffee and milk-moustache-decorated smiles all around.
