20 Best Espresso For Moka Pot (2023 Updated)

‘m glad I found this brand. I initially looked at the Bialetti Moka Pot brand, which sells for more than double this one for an identical item. I knew I was buying a petite size and did so intentionally.

I usually make my coffee with an Aero Press and drink it espresso-style, so I was looking for something personal-sized to produce an equivalent amount. However, the one cup is still a little smaller than I expected.

It holds roughly a tablespoon of coffee grounds, whereas I usually make myself a double shot with approximately four tablespoons of grounds. I’m still glad I bought it as it was a cheap way to see if I like the style and decide if I need a larger size.

I got this because it’s what my grandma always uses. Even after all these years (grandma is 97) this is still the best way ever to consume espresso. It comes in all beautiful colors. It is super easy to use for coffee and even easier to clean.

The espresso taste delicious and not burnt or too light. It’s perfect. I also used regular coffee beans as well as an experiment and it is equally as delicious. This is great for espresso shots, cappuccino, lattes, and so much more.

I even make it, let it cool, put it in the fridge, and then enjoy delectable iced espresso. You won’t be disappointed.

My $300 electric espresso machine became clogged with mineral build up and descaling it didn’t resolve the steam frother issues. Living in a hard water area, I decided to go to a more traditional device that won’t clog over time, so I bought the six shot size.

After watching a few tutorials videos I’m really enjoying great results. It’s actually quite simple to use. We always disliked the Luke warm Latte’s the electric machine made. this makes wonderfully Hot espressos for more leisurely drinking.

I also bought a electric milk frother ( CaffItaly) through linen chest and it’s awesome. way better that the steam wand on my old big machine. The combined price of the pot and frother in total is well under a mid grade espresso machine.

Not as quick perhaps as other methods and you have to stand by while making a brew. However I really enjoy this more “hands on” process of making espresso and Latte’s and consider it as part of my coffee break.

The Hot Latte’s are so worth it !.

These beans are very different from prior years. Dark, oily finish that jams semi-automatic espresso machines. Every year at the holidays I purchase these and as expected within 1 grind my machine jammed and I had to tear it apart to clean out the oily bean mess.

Support did assist me in selecting and replacing with Medium Roast – it’s good but noticeably different taste and smell from what I used to purchase before. I know you use many suppliers but that’s your job to help customers sleect the best Illy product for an application.

It’s like your company reformulated and forgot to recalibrate the message for customers. A note on the product page saying what it is suitable for and what it is not suitable for is necessary. And the FAQ page ehhh too many to be obvious and anyway I don’t see it.

The photos use for Intenso whole beans don’t match the beans! Those pics look like Medium Roast.

This is italian caffè, made with whole bean coffee Arabica. When you open the tin you can smell already coffee aroma very strong, inside the tin there is coffee powder. To prepare italian caffè, you will need the moka where you put water, inside the filter you put coffee powder, then close the moka and put on the gas.

When the water boils, it goes into fhe filter and finally the caffè comes out, you will need small cups as italian caffè is very strong , you have to add some sugar and coffe is ready to be drinked. This coffe is very energetic and will make you very active, italians.

Usually italians drink caffè in the morning and after dinner because is digestive. Another tip: some people when have head ache they just drink a caffè because the caffeina is pain killer!.

This coffee is amazing! I make it a point to stop at their shop in Detroit airport, so imagine how delighted I was to find this gem at my local target. It’s so smooth that I drink it black! Just remember to use filtered water, not tap( obviously).

Also, I brew it in my ninja coffee machine because I don’t have an espresso machine. Still, it’s perfect. Highly recommend. It’s better than the Dunkin’ original blend, and the Pete’s coffee blend that I typically buy.

However it’s only slightly better than Stumptown creamy & caramel organic coffee blend. Hopefully that helps.

I’ve used the 6 cup version for years and it’s a great way to make coffee. Use boiling water in the bottom, grind a bit coarser than normal espresso, use a low heat and turn the heat off as soon as the liquid starts to appear, the residual heat will push the water through without getting a burnt flavour.

If it starts to splutter and spit, run the base under cold water. No, you won’t get crema (as a previous reviewer states) but that’s because it’s not espresso. You don’t get the carbon dioxide reaction that creates crema unless you’re brewing with espresso-type pressures (9 bars).

You’re not supposed to get crema with a stove-top coffee maker. For me, this is one of the best ways to make coffee at home. Espresso is my favourite type of coffee, but it isn’t easy to make at home, even with expensive equipment.

The Bialetti Venus makes great coffee that’s still strong, and much more delicious than filter or pour-overs.

The Bialetti Venus 4-cup espresso maker is a high-quality product that makes delicious espresso. It is simple and easy to operate and makes the espresso quickly. The handle stays cool, but I would nonetheless caution one to move the coffee maker to the edge of the burner if possible, to avoid direct heating of the handle.

A couple of very minor things to note – 1) the gasket that seals the two halves of the pot together is not absolutely tight – under the force of steam pressure, a slight amount of venting occurs from the joint, but I have not found this to impair the operation of the coffee maker in any way; 2) the inner edge of the lip of the bottom half is a bit sharp, due to the cutting of the threads, so use caution when cleaning that part, as it is possible to get a minor cut on one’s hands.

I have been using this coffee maker everyday since I bought it and am very delighted. It is a quality product for a very reasonable price.

I use my Moka pots several times daily, this is my procedure; I fill the basket with coffee grounds (medium coarseness, 20 clicks on my Timemore Chestnut C2), 18-20 grams for the 4 cup or 35-36 grams for the 6 cup.

If your grind is too fine or you tamp the coffee too much or over stuff the basket, you might build up too much pressure and trigger the safety valve. I add boiling water to the base, drop the basked in and screw them together tightly using a towel to keep the heat off my hand.

Do not use the handle for leverage. Onto a medium heat, the brewing time takes +-1m30s. I pour the coffee into cups immediately once the hissing sound has reached peak/started subsiding.

So to preface this mini-review, I’ve used Moka pots for many years, and was looking for a decent quality stainless steel pot to use for camping, and at home. This pot was priced well, and the fit & finish seemed rather adequate.

When it arrived, I’ve noticed that it met my expectations, and was practical, but with slight imperfections – the threads are not perfect, the lid is very basic, etc. I loved how rugged it felt, however, and knew immediately that it should serve its purpose! It works remarkably well! I’ve made hundreds of coffee cups using this pot, and each time it worked like a charm! The coffee is quick and easy to make, and it tastes delicious! I have the Bialeti (Italian) pot, but prefer this GSI model quite a bit more! My only real gripe with this pot is the fact that the water reservoir (bottom piece) is bead blasted on the inside, instead of being polished- which causes it to rust on the inside.

This is quite unfortunate, as all the other surfaces remain nearly brand new looking as they’re polished. Too bad they did not polish the inside of this reservoir. This would have made it a perfect 5 stars, for me.

I didn’t know if this was going to be the quality coffee maker that it turned out to be. I was concerned about the price, being that I have several other ways to make coffee outdoors, such as different size percolators and an aeropress.

I am really pleased with this though for car camping use and I will likely let go of a couple of percolators and keep this and a large percolator (for boiling water for Americanos). This is a solid piece of stainless steel and the parts, lower and upper pieces, coffee “basket” and “basket lid” are all engineered and manufactured with precision.

The silicone gasket is perfect and the design gives me confidence that it won’t be lost in the course of washing the basket and upper urn. Aero press is still the way to go for backpacking but I can make my girl and myself a nice Americano at camp for as long as I can keep the gasket.

Worth the price for me.

Unlike the other review from someone who just had a look at it in store, I did buy one snd used it. It is sturdy, well made all stainless steel. Most moka cofee pot available on the market will corode over time as they are made of cheap aluminum alloy, this one won’t.

Most of the other ones also have plastic handle wich might break while camping. This one comes with foldable handles that take less space when stored. It makes an excellent coffee and replacement seals are easily available.

I definitely recommend it.

Apparently the variant that’s capable of making coffe for two persons, is not capable to make for only one. If you want to drink coffee alone, you need to buy another coffee-maker. It’s because the company does not sell an adjustable-size coffee-compartment, like other brands do.

The ground coffee needs to be in a properly compressed state for an optimal interaction between the steam and the coffee. The drink will taste terrible if the ground coffee is not properly compressed.

Without a variable-volume coffee-compartment, optimal compression is not possible to achieve, when preparing coffee that’s less than the maximum capacity. Furthermore, even after the fifth brew, the thing emits a very strong smell of burnt rubber / plastic — so strong that the kitchen / room has to be ventilated immediately.

Furthermore, I went into a shop in Zürich (by Münsterhof) that sells this brand and also all sorts of accessories for it, and they told me that during usage (heat-cycles) some chemical can build up on the inner walls of this thing — which is a serious health hazard — and it should be sent to Italy like yearly to have that chemical removed from it by the manufacturer (as this process is offered only by them).

Imagine the CO2 emitted only to ship this piece of waste round and round in the world.

I own a well used 2 cup Bialetti stovetop moka pot and when I purchased it sveral years ago, I thought it was made in Italy because that is what is stated on the front of the pot. Turns out, it was made in China! I Bought this 6 cup size because it is apparently the smallest you can purchase if you want a Bialetti moka pot made in Italy.

As you will see in the photo, the seal has markings around it. I could have overlooked this because of course the pot was going to be washed before use, but the seal is not tight. If you look closely you can see the gaps.

The top of the pot does not screw on well either. I don’t know what type of coating is used for the bottom of the pot, but it is certainly shiny. The last pot I purchased and returned (different brand) had what appeared to be the same type of coating and that coating yielded an undrinkable beverage that tasted like there was chemical solevant leaching.

To be fair I have not used this pot. It’s a shame, but it really seems like this is no longer a well made brand of moka pots. Perhaps this one slipped through the quality test. I will be returning it for a refund without putting it to use.

I’ve had this for about a month now, and I’m in love. I truly believe it’s one of the best purchases I’ve made all year. It’s so simple, efficient and charming. It’s a truly timeless invention. I don’t see myself ever going back to one of those expensive espresso machines ever again when I have this practical maker.

Tip 1: When you first receive it, make sure to use it like you normally would, but throw the coffee out once its been made. It’s what the internet recommended, and it’s easy to do. Tip 2: Use hot water to fill it up.

This was a gift to a newly wed couple. They expressed delight but I knew it was genuine when I visited. The coffee maker was in full use and the design fitted into their kitchen perfectly. A beautiful yet functional item,good to look at but a great coffee maker!.

I love the look of this sylish espresso maker and the quality is obvious. A great design classic from Alessi. Makes three cups of espresso, and I use it to make Americano coffee which is easy and equally as good; for when you don’t need quite an espresso-strong coffee hit!.

Title: cheap quality imitation of a moka pot I have used moka pots for years having owned several brands over time. I was interested in the looks on this one, it was simar in looks to a higher priced brand.

Well. you get what you pay for. Its a lightweight copy of what should be a quality product. The coffee exploded from the top all over my kitchen and stove and i now have to repaint my white kitchen. So much for saving $10.

Now I have to spend $1000. Thank God my kids weren’t close by. The casting is poorly done and the filter screens are not made well either. The material is thin and that’s where they save the money to make it cheap.

little smaller than thought but it works well. I would definitely buy it again. Some grounds went through the filter but nothing that can’t be easily fixed. Remember It is sized for 3 ESPRESSO CUPS.

This is literally the best purchase I’ve ever made! Been spending a disgusting amount of money on stupidly expensive iced lattes and decided I should just try to make my own. Bought this with low expectations/confidence (in myself, not the product) and omg… so easy and SO DELICIOUS! Be sure to run it through a clear cycle just water the first few times.

VERY user friendly; only three pieces total. Whole process to brew takes maybe 5-7 minutes which I honestly found super impressive! It tastes the same if not better than the chain espresso drinks! Buy it !!!.

It’s quiet disappointing when receiving my 6 containers of coffee from Illy. Most of them to my surprise, they all expired in early 2023 (which I was assumed that the illy coffee bean was somehow more recently and freshly packaged to preserve it flavors).

Despited the containers came in damaged, The Costa Rica in particular, was produced in July of 2020 and is expiring in a few month! I love illy and being with Illy for so long, but the quality control of the products is a big concern right now.

I brought from illy is coz of its flavor, taste, it’s freshness and my memories. With this purchase, it probably will be my last purchase from Illy, because not sure if items on my next purchase is expired when I received.

I am still learning to get the best out of this , so far i ve had better success with medium roasted coarsely grinded beans , starting off with cold water and keeping it at medium heat over old school electric hotplate , no crema but it tastes pretty decent , its closer to bitter rather than a sour taste.

Easy to clean , and the built is pretty solid.

Great coffee!! Stainless steel option is great for us, only downside is being round and having a bulbous base it can be hard to grip and detach the bottom and top parts (particularly compared to the aluminium octagon coffee pots), and the inside of the top pot has a crevice at the base so small hands/wash tools are needed to really clean it well after use.

I love the aluminum one. It’s my daily go to. This. Eh. I bought it in an effort to speed up the coffee making on my induction burner first thing in the morning. I mean, I’d water can boil in 2 minutes, so can my coffee, right? No.

The quality of this stainless steel is poor at best. And because stainless steel conducts heat so well, the coffee is actually boiling before it’s done brewing. Maybe I need to fiddle with it more, but this far, not happy with this rather expensive purchase.

I’ve never tried other espresso powders so I have nothing to compare it to however, I love the taste it gives. I definitely recommend this. I just wish they sold it in a bigger container. I use 1tbs, 2 cups unsweetened vanilla almond milk, 2 tbs of heavy cream, 2 tbs of sugar free carmel syrup, 2 tbs sugar free carmel sauce, and 1/2 tsp pyure stevia.

5 ice cubes and blend. Thank me later;).

I love using this to make tiramisu. If you’ve ever made it the traditional way, it involves a LOT of steps, so this simplifies things especially if you don’t have an espresso machine. I was going to Starbucks and getting espresso to make it before I found this.

It’s strong and tastes great.

A year ago I hopped on the dalgona coffee trend, I gotta say, this one hasn’t gotten old. I whip 1 part of this instant espresso with 1 part sugar and 2 parts boiling water until it’s nice and frothy, then add milk and enjoy! This makes such a creamy tasty coffee treat at home! You can even add extracts like vanilla or hazelnut if you’d like.

I cannot make this work with the induction hob on my cooker (Zanussi ZCI66280XA). It is a little too small for even the smallest hob and the detector on the hob does not pick it up and refuses to heat it.

Some induction hobs are better than others at this (“zoneless” types avoid this problem altogether but are rather more expensive from what I’ve read). The item itself is nicely made but I can’t rate it further given it was sold as induction hob compatible but clearly that isn’t always the case depending on your hob.
