17 Best Equipment For Clearing Land (2023 Updated)

This is my first land leveler. I use a box blade for many hours, but the land leveler makes it easy. Level the implement and go. The land leveler does everything else, creating smooth gravel roads and construction sites.

Very good.

Good solid piece of equipment. I was able to use the scarifiers from my box blade on this , so that was a bonus. Going to add a hydraulic top link for better control of the downforce angle.

Wasn’t any higher quality than the $1000-$1200 one I should have purchased.

This is an excellent Dethatcher! Surprisingly very effective for its size. I was going back and forth about buying or renting a unit but renting one has it’s Pros and Cons and finally decided to make the investment into buying one and I’m so glad I did.

It’s so easy to put together. All you need is a screw driver to tighten the lower handle bar and everything else is hand tightened. This unit comes with an extra set of tines should one or more ever need to be replaced and the instruction booklet shows step by step how that’s done.

Now I’ve lived at my home for 30 years and never dethatched my lawn. This year I had an infestation of grubs that the eliminator I put down for them every season did not penetrate through to keep them at bay and ravaged my lawn badly.

This was the motivating factor for me to finally take the plunge and purchase this unit. It does the job with such power and ease and leaves a thick trail of thatch behind with every pass. NEVER pull it backwards!!! Always go with the forward motion so you don’t damage the unit or your lawn.

Make sure you clear any twigs, branches, rocks, and cut your lawn before you start the process to get best results. ALWAYS USE THE CORRECT EXTENSION CORD FOR OUTDOOR USE!! Took me about 30 minutes to dethatch, collect the thatch and clean up my front lawn.

I still have my back yard to do but the weather hasn’t been cooperating and will have to wait until the Spring to do it WHICH is fine by me knowing I have this unit and able to pull it out and use it when the time is right.

The handle on this can be folded down for easy storage. I kept the box it came in and will be storing it away that way. Keep it clean and neat. This is such a great quality unit that it’s worth the investment.

Watch out for your neighbors who want to take turns borrowing it!!!!.

This little tool is amazing. Prior to purchasing this I rented a scarifier from a hardware store because my lawn (almost an acre) was more thatch and moss than lawn. It did okay, but it was incredibly heavy and loud! I was able to purchase the dethatcher for the price of that rental and it was so much easier to use and removed the same (if not more) than the professional gas powered one.

I hesitate to use the word “fun” but seeing how much thatch this was able to remove from my lawn while being 10% of the weight and 5X the maneuverability was fun. My only issue is that I have not figured out a way to effectively use a cord as long as I need (100′) without getting bunched up, but that has nothing to do with the machine itself.

I highly recommend it, and if you have a smaller yard this will be the only tool you need to dethatch and you’ll be amazed at how much you are able to remove.

Never dethatched my lawn before and it definitely needed it. I could see all the dried dead grass blocking the soil. Raking by hand never seemed to get it up. This dethatcher was the answer. Started at the lowest setting and quickly realized I needed to go the lowest depth.

Made a couple passes while raking a pile of dead grass in between each one. Had a few piles each time. Grass looked much cleaner right after. I fertilized right after and a couple weeks later, lawn looks much better.

The extension cord is kind of a pain to deal with but manageable. Took a while to rake the yard after each pass. Next time, I may just use my lawnmower with the bag on the pick up the thatch. Overall, this is a great buy.

Before I begin with my review a word of warning! This grapple is back heavy and can tip over backwards on you specially when attaching the mounting plates. Be very careful! Shipping was fast! One day out from what it was supposed to be but where I live that was amazingly fast.

Good job everybody! Attaching the mounting plates was straight forward but watch out for it tipping over backwards on you! Fit up to my John Deere 318D skid steer was perfect! The hydraulic hoses are routed on the right side and my connections on the skid steer are on the left but a few wraps of duct tape fixed that for now.

There are a few shear points with the pivot arm so check and clear these areas out before you cut a line. So now that it is on the skid steer I will need to take it off eventually. Not real sure just how to do that yet but if I stick it under a log and close the grapple it should be good to remove so it does not tip over backwards, easy enough.

The Titan site video shows it being used with a front loader tractor and stills with a skid steer but the skid steer is problematic for the operator. Getting in and out of the skid steer cab on any skid steer has a potential for injury to the operator due to uneven and slippery surfaces.

My cure is I will mount a step on the right side with a grippy surface. The left is fine because of the hydraulic lines, don’t want to be climbing over those anyway. The grapple itself closes with authority but not uncontrollable and has some serious grip to it.

My John Deere puts out about 26/27 gallons a minute through the auxiliary hydraulics so if your machine puts out a higher volume your results may differ, on my machine it works great but be judicious with the button until you get use to it.

It grabs a 20 foot x 16 inch log like my dog grabs a bone so be careful of anyone or anything close by to avoid injury or damage. I got this 29 inch grapple to help me buck my firewood and it will be a huge improvement over my standard forks.

With forks balance is key and it is very possible to loose the load from tipping on side or another specially when cutting chunks off one end or the other, with this grapple that problem is eliminated.

In my situation I am doing this solo so safety and process are the key factors for me getting this grapple. With the things I pointed out, the tipping over backward issue and a step, which are easily solved, I highly recommend this log grapple.

Getting the work off the ground so you don’t hit dirt with your chain when bucking and getting the work elevated a little to help your back out are huge advantages.

No directions on how to mount the plates. Not that it’s hard to figure out. The grease fitting on the top cross bolt can’t be greased. The fitting is to recessed for the grease gun to latch on AND IT’S TO SMALL.

I’ve used this a couple of days now and it works fine. Have picked up logs to smaller pieces that were frozen down. Changes I would make, maybe a larger cylinder or two for more power on the grapple and extend the lower arms some.

But it does do everything I’ve needed it to so far, you just need to position it correctly to get a grip. I would buy it again. The steel crate it comes in makes a great work table. All in all for the price its hard to beat.

As long as you are not trying to clean a very dirty pool exclusively with this, then it should work great for you. I use it to clean up debris and sediment that blows in the pool from storms and for quick spot cleaning.

Using the heavier filter bag catches fine debris better than my Polaris. Nice to do a quick touchup cleaning on the pool. I still use my Polaris pressure side vacuum to do a complete pool clean, but don’t need to run it as often now that I have this.

Longest run time I’ve used it for is about 40 minutes and it was still going strong. It is basically an underwater dustbuster, so it doesn’t have the greatest suction but still works fairly well. You have to be slow and smooth with overlapping passes for it to work best.

Overall I’m very pleased with this vacuum.

We bought one of these in July, 2021. It is SO much easier to use than hooking up a vacumn head and hose to your filter. Also, the suction on this is MUCH better than using a hose hooked to your filter.

It comes with 2 filter bags. One is for fine sand and silt on the bottom and the other is for larger debris like leaves. The fine sand and silt bags works best for most everything. (We live in a dusty, often windy, dry area, where dust blows into the pool and sinks and settles at the bottom which becomes silt.

We have more sand/silt here than leaves. )The Pool Blaster Max CG has made my life much easier. The only complaints I have are,1. It is really hard to get the charging plug into the unit properly. It has to be just right or it won’t charge.

2. I wish the charge lasted just a little bit longer. It does usually last a little over an hour, which is just barely enough time to vacuum my 24′ x 12′ x 52″ above ground pool. When it’s not too dirty, that’s plenty of time, but if it’s really dirty, it’s not quite enough.

(I guess the key is not to let it get that dirty, where it takes longer than an hour to vacuum. LOL)When done, it’s super easy to rinse out the filter bags with a hose. (Much easier to clean those than the whole pool filter.

)With that said, over all, it’s a really great product!It’s expensive, but I have no regrets so far for buying it. If you are thinking about it, and can afford it, go for it!.

Purchased this Pool Blaster on October 24th. Used it once and it hasn’t turned on again. Followed the instructions. Charged it approximately 3-4 hours until light indicted full charge. Never turned on again.

I’ve tried repeatedly to reach Customer service with no luck. Calling gets me to an automated message to leave my phone number and someone will contact ***. still waiting on that. Also sent the email as directed as an ***.

also no response. As my Blaster is still under warranty, I guess they’re waiting it out. Not a happy customer. I should add that I bought this after my previous Blaster died. It was purchsed about 5 years ago from a local Wal-Mart.

I expected the same quality as before, but not even close.

I’ve used Ortho Nutsedge Killer RTU for a number of years and it works great. Nutsedge is tough and you have to get on it in the spring and keep after it every year. I’ve completely wiped it out of my front yard, but still fighting one corner of the backyard.

With this, I WILL win. After reading some of the other reviews I’d really suggest that you do your research and KNOW what weed you are after. This product is mostly for nutsedge. It’s easy to tell because it has a triangular stem.

In Nebraska we usually have yellow nutsedge and it fairly easy to spot as it’s just slightly more yellow than the grass and it grows a bit faster so it’s taller. Read some of the info published by your state extension and learn why late summer pulling is worse than useless.

And, of course, always READ the label on the bottle.

I am quite satisfied so far. After 3+ years of infestation and pulling and digging to get rid of the sedge I am starting to see results. I mowed 2 days ago, then we had a day of showers (I thought this might help the grass from being damaged), so I sprayed this directly onto my nutsedgey lawn to test/ spot treat the nutsedge.

The sedge is already golden-brown and dying while my bluegrass/fescue is still thriving. No damage even though I sprayed on a warm morning, the sunny high reached 88 degrees, and it is late in the season (early August).

They say it is better to spray in early spring. I hope I don’t have to do another round of treatment like most folks review this product, but I expect I will have to since it is so late in the season and we’ve been infested for years.

If spraying again means a future of no sedgy lawn, I am hooked and it is worth it. Could have been a bit cheaper, come in a larger bottle, or even a trigger that I don’t have to manually spray over and over again (my wrist hurts and I only sprayed a small section 2 feet by 10 feet).

I tried another product which advertises effective in killing nutsedge with results that it appeared to fertilize the nutsedge and other weeds it said it would kill. I tried ORTHO Nutsedge killer and it worked the first time with dying nutsedge within 24 hours! Within a week the active nutsedge was gone.

This hand sprayer bottle is great for outcropping of nutsedge, but not effective for large areas.

The shipping took forever, I had to hold the carriers hand until it finally arrived. Hydraulic hose broke after 4 hours of use. Went to 2 different Hydraulic hose companies, no one has these Chinese fittings.

Ordered 2 new hoses from Titan and still have not received them after 13 days, ended up renting a grapple locally to finish the job. I regret ever purchasing from them. I have a brand new grapple sitting in the field, completely useless.

I had a chance to get the hoses hooked up. I used the grapple to pick up some beach ball size rocks. I would get the rocks in the bucket put the grapple tips down. I noticed if the grapple tips are open all the way they will not go closed until you tip the bucket forward past the flat position.

I am not sure why it works like that. I also noticed only 1 grapple tip will go down than the other will closed. This also happens when I open them.

Very awesome heavy duty bucket. grapple arm design/placement could use a little work. In the first fw hours of use, I nearly broke one of the hoses because of the way the lines are routed and how the quick connects stick out.

Basically when I open the grapples, unless I am really careful, the top of the grapple hits the hose where it meets the quick connect. I have another grapple that has 90 degree quick connects that more or less solves this issue and I just bought some 90 degree adapters, but I think at the very least this should come standard with the 90 degree quick connects.

Also, the fact that the hoses come out the top of the grapple cylinders (rather than the side) exacerbates this issue. Would be way better design to route the hoses out the side or best yet on the bottom of the cylinder.

You can basically tell the person who designed this never really used it much. Anyhow, the bucket itself it awesome and super heavy duty which is why I give it 4 stars, the grapple part need to be redesigned a bit though.

One of the best FEL implements for land clearing EVER! For shoving logging debris (large and small) for the purpose of land clearing, this is THE best! We have a Kubota L4701 as well as a grapple, but this is the ticket.

First, built so incredibly solid. As such, you are able to move very large piles relying on tractor hp and not just the 1739 lb lift capacity of FEL. MOST importantly, the spacing and design of the tines AND the fact there is a solid steel backing, your cowling and undercarriage are far better protected than with a grapple.

When clearing, my tires are mostly on clear dirt with the protection of this blade / rake. Low gear and you become the unopposable force. Price incredible and an incredible value.

This is a very useful tool, quite strong. I use it with both a 40 hp tractor and a 60HP tractor. Best use seems to be to put the rake on the 40 hp and a grapple on the 60 hp to work as a team to clear logging debris.

The storage support legs were broken off quickly despite careful use. Suggest Titan redesign them so they don’t snag so easily and that the user remove them during use.

This is a good concept, but not the best design. I used it on a job for a total of maybe 20 minutes and bent two of the bottom tines and both ends. Also broke one of the legs off that hold it up when not hooked to the skid steer.

I could have taken the legs off but did not think about needing to do this until it was broken. Seemed to be built pretty sturdy but did not hold up to the small roots I was dealing with. Going to see if I can make it stronger since I have already purchased it.

IšverstiShow in original languageVery well made; heavy, lots of steel, should last a long time. However, the pin slots did not match my tractor’s quick-tach pin locations. Had to cut and grind to fit, which reduced the strength of the slot connection to the rake.

This may not matter when pushing debris, but will when back-dragging. I asked about this alignment issue before buying, but did not get a technical answer. It seems as if the slot was designed to fit skid steer machines and not tractors as much.

Could be easily fixed, I would think.

IšverstiShow in original languageGood solid rake but the stands that attach in each side to hold it up are a very poor design. It’s and square tube with a hole drilled through it that is upright when in use.

They both broke at the holes for the pins while pushing a brush pile. There should be a different way to secure the legs or both hole should have quick release pins so they can be removed. Without the legs it is a lot harder to connect.

The leveler grades very well. My only complaints are, it should have been built with adjustable depth blades and a support towards the back to prevent flexing. It does move a lot of dirt. I am glad that it was built with scarifier brackets.

This was a perfect solution at 4 inch depth to drag our outdoor horse paddock base built on sand and pea gravel. Even pulled the weeds while straightening and softening the base. Love the wheels to move the product around where you need it.

The Brush Grubber did what we wanted it to. We had a row of honeysuckle bushes which we pulled out. Our lawn tractor didnt have power to pop them out, so we used our pickup in 4 wheel drive. The Grubber fit around the base of the shrubs and we pulled slowly to get the shrubs out of the ground.

The Brush Grubber is heavy duty and easy to use. Will be using the Grubber on many more honeysuckle. Honeysuckle roots are not very deep, so we are unaware how the Grubber would work in larger and older shrubs.

Works wonderfully for removing invasive Honeysuckle bushes. My workplace has over 85 acres of woods, and the honeysuckle has taken over the undergrowth. I hook the brush grabber to my tractor and it pops it out of the ground, roots and all.

This is a very effective product that made the removal of invasive bushes around my property. Getting up under the brush/bushes was the hardest part of the day, but once the grubber was hooked up to my winch, it was a breeze.

The best way to get the grubber to grab the brush is to have the winch pull the grubber to force a bit as it is pulled back on itself. if that makes sense. Take a moment to ensure the grubber will bite back on itself and the brush and you will be good to go.

Once I found the right item to attach it to my tractor bucket hooks (small enough to fit through the opening on the Brush Grubber, but strong enough to not break under the pressure exerted by pulling trees out of the ground!), this little tool has proved itself to be a solid performer! I’ve been impressed with its ability to grab onto trees and pull them up, until finally getting to the thinner weaker sections of the root system where it breaks off.

Honestly, I expected more slippage, but this thing holds on for dear life! Bye-bye unwanted trees and brush!!! I’ve got some other kinds of trees I want to pull up (mimosas), so I’ll try to update my review after I get to those, but so far this thing is great!.

Works sometimes on larger trees, not shrubs or small ones at all. It won’t bite into or grab very well. It just slides off. The clevis is too small to put a chain through it. I had to add a larger clevis to attach my chain to the tractor.

I wouldn’t buy it again. Not worth the money.

I bought this with some reservation, but i was pleasantly surprised. Ive used the heck out this thing on my ranch in Texas pulling lots of small rouge Mesquite trees. Ive used it with a chain on a small tractor, used it with my pickup and even my ATV.

This thing really grabs and holds on but watch your fingers when putting in on. Wear gloves! Good for small bushes and trees under 3″ in diameter.

I ordered the land plane with shanks i paid for it full never sent shanks. They don’t know when they will have it. Supposedly everything is made in US guess what it’s not. Hello China they are having problems with supply chain.

Maybe made in US Tennessee should be removed.

IšverstiShow in original languageAssembly is supposed to take 10 minutes and that is probably true if you don’t need the directions. The manual’s instructions are truly as clear as mud! Parts are not labeled.

The instructions are not even complete. I will comment on well this leaf sweeper works when I can finish the assembly. The parts seem quite good.

IšverstiShow in original languageThis is a great machine for light leaf cleanup and even heavy leaf drop if you dont expect perfection. This is not as good as a rotary mower or a hand rake. If you dont let your leaves get ahead of you, you can use this daily to get about 90% of your leaves.

The setting should place the brushes into the to 1/4 of grass, or flush to concrete. I use an electric blower/vac for the edges of the lawn but this is great for the open areas. Plastic connector that connects the two rods that hold the bag broke immediately.

I fixed sliding the two rods into tight fitting rubber tubing. Has worked great. Any do it yourselfer could figure out a fix in no time. Scotts, I recommend a threaded metal connector instead of the plastic compression connector.

IšverstiShow in original languageTried this a few times in an effort to speed up picking up leaves, but it wasn’t much help. You had to roll over a section of leaves several times for them to go into the uncovered bag.

If there was any amount of wind, the leaves ended back in your yard and you have wasted your time. This product was returned as it didn’t meet expectations.

Heavy well built grapple and frame. I did have to do quite a bit of grinding to the quick tach part to get it to fit onto my skid steer, the pins wouldn’t go in at all at first. Also you have to put the 9 spears on, they don’t come attached and have a tendency to get lost in shipping like mine did.

I called titan attachment and they shipped me out 9 more that same day. It works great to pick up a big round bale and works great cleaning corals. I didn’t give it 5 stars because they didn’t specify that the spears come separate and you have to impact them on and also because of the grinding I had to do to get it to attach.

If you know how to modify and make thing work this is a great attachment, but if u want a hook up plug in and go attachment I would recommend another brand. Like I said before it works great and is heavy built to last.

Works great, picks a big load and keeps it together. I have also used to move hay bales.

I cam pretty fast. Easy to install. The first impressions are positive, lets see how well it holds in the future.

The mower came a week later than scheduled due to the transfer company misplaced it at their depot. Once here, the machine was OK and intact, but the crate was rather flimsy. The machine seemed to be holding up the crate rather than the crate holding the machine.

Once out of the crate and after fully reading the instructions, putting the deck onto the power unit did not take too much time. I did use the mower to mow down high weeds and small samplings for 2-3 hours.

I found the machine to have sufficient power, cut well, and can be a hand-full to control in a woods sitting. One problem was that it would not back up when on a slight incline – I had to pull it back; although on a level surface, it would back up.

This was corrected with a cable adjustment as to instruction from the manual. No problem. A couple of items I would address is the reverse speed. It is too high. If not careful, one can be knocked down if not being aware of what’s behind them and can have a clear path of retreat.

Another problem is the different sittings/notches on the gear shifter are not well defined in that one can easily shift into 3rd gear when hoping to get to 2nd gear. They should be placed further apart so that one definitely knows which gear they are in.

I would hope the DR engineers would take a look at the possible improvement of the above mentioned. To my way of thinking the problems that I am having would be minor, but when working with this machine in a woods sitting, they can become a bigger problem and one must use lots of caution.

Set up of mower was pretty straight forward, although the clutch did not engage and the photo could be much better in showing the adjustment and simply state if the clutch is not engaging you need to extend the cable if it is engaging too soon you need to shorten the cable.

Also the right disk brake needed quite a bit of adjustment to get it and left brake working equally. The picture of the handlebar adjustment makes it look like there are multiple adjustment levels although there are actually only two, it would be nice to have more, if I was any shorter it could be a problem.

I could find nothing in either manual as to how much oil each engine required and even calling support I was told 56oz for the 14. 5hp which is incorrect, it a little less than 1. 5 qt. It would simply be nice to know how much oil you need to purchase.

Finally. the shifting seems clunky and not defined at the different shift points and requires you to continually move it around to find the right gear when going from reverse to forward or even finding neutral.

I’m not impressed with the shifting it reminds me of shifting a Murray riding lawnmower from 30+ years ago. A friend had previously purchased a larger 30″ model and he had the same issues with the clutch not engaging and is also not impressed the shifting function.

For an expensive mower like this the shifting function does not measure up. Overall the machine seems to cut well and the drive and traction of the mower is good, especially having the disk brakes to control wheel spin in soft areas or turning the machine and cutting on a side hill.

I’m hoping the transmission is durable and has a long life, right now it has performed well for the first couple of hours of use. So in closing I think the final set up at the factory could be improved a little (clutch and brake adjustments) not really a big deal, but the shifting is something that should be re-engineered.

I could not give anything a 5 star rating without having more hours of use, but I would have given it 4 stars if it were not for the shifting mechanism. P. S. I mentioned to the support department it would be nice to have a wood splitter attachment that would run off of the power head from this mower.

My initial assessment of the transmission slipping, especially in reverse, was due to Operator Error. Today I applied more tension to the Traction Control cable with the adjustment mechanism and now the transmission has no slippage.

On my machine, in order to properly and fully engage the traction drive, the lever must be fully upward with no slack in the cable when the traction drive lever is released. Prior to this adjustment (which seemed a bit “Too Tight” at first), the brakes, when applied hard, would stop the machine while in gear but now the transmission is not stopped by the brake pressure, as is cautioned / stated in the manual.

Now that the traction control is properly tensioned, the machine will power through / over whatever it comes up against or the wheels will spin but the transmission does not slip. I attached a photo to give a perspective as to what I cut with it today.

The bushes and thorns are so thick, tall, and heavy that you can’t walk through them but with a little patience, the mower powers through. I now give the machine a 5 star rating. The longevity of the machine is an unknown at this point but with proper use, care, and maintenance, I hope it lasts for 20 years! Guy 9/25/22.
