16 Best Epilator For Coarse Hair (2023 Updated)

Really handy beauty tool, works well, no pain at all (I am used to waxing having self waxed for many years so maybe desensitised???). So easy to use (easier than waxing) and great long lasting results.

Was slightly confused with the power cable being European (not UK) but I am just using an adapter.

The adaptor is a two pin plug charger – I definitely would have hesitated to purchase this if I had realised earlier. For first time use epilator needs to be charged prior to use, it’s not just plug in and use straight away.

Aside from the above, it does the job!.

So I was super excited to receive the silk-epic 5. I have always wanted to try one. So I took it out the box and popped it on charge. It was easy to connect to the shaver and into a 2 pin plug socket.

I familiarised myself with the instructions. Popped on the pieces I needed on and off I went. OH BOY , I was not prepared for that pain! Ouch. Decided to use it in the shower(much better!) amazing results and super soft skin.

Used a second time and the pain does get better. Brilliant product!!!.

I have been using the Philips Satinelle Essiential Epilator for just over 4 weeks now and did a lot of reading into epilation before I bought the Philips Satinelle. I exfoliated and shaved several days before the first use and repeated this procedure weekly.

At first I was worried it was really going to hurt but I needn’t had worry it, did sting a little at first but you soon get used to this every time you use it and it gets less stingy with each use. The product came as described with an extra long cord, making it easy to move around the bathroom when in use, there are two speed settings so can adjust accordingly to your needs.

It is a little noisy however it’s not an unbearable sound. side. As for the results? I’m truly impressed! Before I had to shave my armpits every other day – but after using the Santinelle, my pits stay hair free for up to 4/5 days! smooth.

This is the first time I use an epilator and it’s surprisingly easy and convenient to use. The epilator comes with instructions, a pouch, glove, 2 different heads with combs and a massage cap. There’s 2 speed settings for the epilator and it also comes with opti-light which makes it easier to see where you’re epiliating or shaving.

The epilator gives a clean, hairless skin without too much pain, just little prickly feeling. The trimming head also trims well and the shaving head gives a clean, good shave with just one pass. I love the fact that the heads are quite small, they could be used at areas which are harder to access.

The combs are useful for people who prefer to only shorten the hair, and the massage cap also makes the whole epilating process more enjoyable. Overall, I’m really impressed with the product, lots of different functions and gives fast and long lasting result for clean, hairless skin.

This Satinelle Epilator by PHILIPS is a basic one which can only be used on your legs to remove the hair. When I have epilated my legs I have to say it is not painful at all, but I am regularly using an epilator.

I have used also on the of my legs and still with the wasn’t that bad, as I have not used to remove my hair for a long time. Personally for me, it is quite loud tool, but very very powerful. The epilator has 2 speeds.

I have smooth legs for a couple weeks now. I have to mention, that I have ingrown hair problem, so hopefully this problem will be solved now as this epilator are removing really short hair and I can wear a dress and do not have a complexes about it.

I have to say that I love the style of this epilator it is easy to hold and it is great when travelling too. It is corded epilator and you do not have to worry that is discharged when you need it.

I was given this product by Panasonic as part of the Panasonic Reviewer Program and I am extremely pleased to have had the chance to try this Epilator out. I have always been curious about using an Epilator, so as first time user I wanted to make sure I knew what I was doing and the best way to use it.

The instructions were really easy to understand, with some great tips to follow for those with more sensitive skin, as well as dos and don’ts to get the best use. To properly test it out I first tried one leg dry and the other wet.

On initial use, my first thought was that you needed to be slightly sadistic to use this, however, once I got used to the slight pain and my yelling subsided (around 30 seconds) I actually got used to the feeling and found myself more engrossed in capturing every hair under the very ingenious light which highlights any stray follicle.

I personally didn’t feel or find any difference in using the product wet or dry. I did get some initial rednesses on both legs after using, however this soon subsided and I was left with two very silky pins.

After one week I repeated the whole process and I am thankful to say it gets much easier to use the second time around. Everything about this product is easy to use, from charging it, to changing the heads and cleaning it all afterwards.

The key thing that sold me was the length of time my legs stayed smooth, much longer than my normal shaver. It comes well packaged with a mini bag, handy for those special weekends away. I love the fact that this also comes with so many different functions, the foot pumice takes seconds to reach a really smooth finish and the shaver attachement gives a fantastic finish for any hairs you may have missed under the spotlight.

Overall this is a lovely looking product and I am happy to say I am now a converted Epilator user! Thank you Panasonic!.

Now I won’t lie, epilation at the start hurts but past the initial stage it’s a breeze. I have found this epilator to be brilliant for removing my leg hair but also the attachments it comes with are incredibly useful.

The shaver is great for arm hair and bikini line whilst the bikini trimmer is great for those more precise jobs. The exfoliation head is soft on the skin but is fantastic at reducing those pesky ingrown hairs but most surprising to me has been the pedicure head, it is perfect and my feet are now joining the rest of me as being satin smooth.

Originally brought to be more environmentally conscious due to shaving waste but will not be looking back anymore, I have found my perfect accompaniment to my Lumea.

I love the overall look of this epilator. Is looks solid, it has a nice colour combination and has a luxury look to it. The epilator is a sleek shape, with a nice hold and easy to work with. It seems to remove both course and fine hair well.

I love the fact that it is cordless. I did however notice it is actually quite noisy to use, but the results are worth it. Furthermore, the epilator head is arched and therefore it takes a little longer to do around knees/ankles but works well on other areas and overall I am happy with it.

The additional pedicure accessory is so nice to have and it is amazing to use. I can’t wait to use the other accessories as I continue to use it over the coming months.

This product is light weight, easy to use, with a good battery life. I was personally able to use the Epilator on three different occassions before needing to charge again. I unfortunately did not have much success with the accessory products, and still rely on other methods (Such as the trimmer, razor and brush).

Although I love the Epilator function, I would not recommend this product to others based on the lack of usability from the other add on products. I would rather suggest someone purchase just an Epilator.

I’d been thinking of buying a new epilator for some time, so when my 20 year old Braun epilator finally died I was really lucky to score this one at an awesome price on sale. It instantly became one of the best decisions I made all year, and I wish I had got it sooner.

It is much more effective and less painful than any other epilator I’ve used, very easy to use and the movability of the head is fantastic. I especially used to struggle with my knees, which are no drama at all with this model.

I’ve tried it most all over my body except my underarms and it continues to be remarkably easier and less painful than my previous one. I haven’t even used all of the additional accessories and I’m in love.

I purchased this yesterday, and after I fully charged it today, i used it for the 1st time, actually it was the 1st time i ever used this type of Epilator, long ago i bought a cheap one yeah umm no, anyways back to this one, this is the best product i have ever bought, i enjoyed using it very much easy to use glides easily around tricky areas hassle free.

After so many years of waxing im used to the threshold pain, even though its been about few weeks since my last full leg wax, i thought I give it a try just to get used to the feeling, It was average pain pretty much same as waxing for me.

I also used it underarms though i haven’t had underarms wax in few years, pain was bearable, easy to use and I loved the end results. I haven’t yet used other functions that came with, but once i do i will update.

I yet have to experience with water and see which is easier or the feeling, i highly recommend this product.

I bought my Silk-epil 9 flex with massage pad a few week ago online. Received it 2 days later and have now used it twice. This is the fourth epilator I have owned in the last 32 years. I’ve always used my epilators whilst plugged in the wall (not cordless) during use as previous brands I owned would run out of steam and leave a half completed job when I used it cordless, so I was a little hesitant about using this device which only works cordlessly.

I needed an epilator that would run the distance enabling me to complete the job on my legs, underarms and bikini line in one session. Well, I’m pleased to report that the Silk-epil 9 has passed my test on this score.

I used it for a good 45mins then gave myself a massage with the massaging attachment for another 15mins and it still has plenty of vroom left. It’s light weight, fits nicely into my hand and glides around the contours of the knee and all the other tricky spots.

The light is a great feature too so no hair is left behind! Without any hesitation I recommend this epilator.

I bought this because shaving only lasts for 1-2 days and epilators generally leave you hairless for up to 2 weeks. I read reviews on multiple epilators and they all said how much it hurts but they eventually got used to the pain.

HOW anyone could get used to that pain is beyond me. The pain is unbearable so I won’t be continuing to use it. Considering my pain tolerance is quite high and I give this a 10/10 on the pain factor, I wouldn’t recommend as it’s not worth it (it also wasn’t great at picking up hairs it takes a lot of going over the same areas multiple times) The only way I can describe it is a REALLY slow motion, painful wax! (Also left my skin red and blotchy).

This epilator works very very well and the battery lasts a long time between charges! I love it. I started by waxing my legs and then have continued to epilate every few days or once per week for a few months.

It’s less painful to use frequently to catch the hair that’s growing than to try to do a full hair removal with it. I also use on my armpits and it is super fast; I love it and recommend! Just be aware that it does hurt, I would say a similar pain level to laser hair removal because it’s individual hairs being removed by the tweezers.

I couldn’t wait to receive my Braun Silk-épil 9 Flex 9-020 Epilator. The first thing I’ve noticed was the lovely case that it came in. It will help keep the shaver and attachments together, and the case will be handy during travel.

I have to say that I was once used to using an epilator, but since I haven’t used one for a while, I needed to reacclimate myself to using an epilator once again. Unfortunately, I had a difficult time tolerating the Braun Epilator, but I am sure I will get used to using it soon.

Each of the attachments worked really well. The shaver gives a close and smooth shave, but it doesn’t provide a very close underarm shave, and the facial cleansing brush does a gentle and effective scrub/message.

Most of the attachments are easy to clean with the exception of the epilator head. I have tried different cleaning methods without much success. Some of the attachments seamed to be very poor quality.

I now know that I will prefer using the shaver on dry skin, since it seamed to do a better job on dry skin. I, also, know that the epilator will be easier to use in the bathtub or on wet skin. The battery took a bit of time to charge.

The Braun Silk-épil 9 Flex 9-020 Epilator appears to perform a bit better than the previous one I owned. I would only recommend it to friends and family member that have used an Epilator in the past, and they don’t mind the pain.

I BOUGHT THE BRAUN FACE EPILATOR ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO. IT BROKE WITHIN 3 WEEKS. I WAS REALLY DISAPPOINTED. I WATCHED SOME YOUTUBE VIDEOS, AND SAW WOMEN SUCCESSFULLY USING THE BRAUN SILK EPIL ON THEIR UPPER LIP AND FACIAL HAIR.

I SAW THIS AT A GREAT PRICE ON EBAY, AND I AM HAPPY TO SAY THAT IT WORKS WONDERFULLY AT REMOVING HAIR, FROM THE FACE, AND LEGS. IN FACT, MY SKIN HAS NEVER BEEN SMOOTHER – NOT FROM WAXING, OR SHAVING.

IT HURTS A BIT AT THE BEGINNING, BUT I FOUND I GOT USED TO IT. THE SHORTER THE HAIR, THE LESS PAIN. I DIDN’T GIVE IT 5 STARS, BECAUSE I DON’T LIKE THE ROUND DISC THAT TURNS IT ON AND OFF. IT IS SLIPPERY AND AWKWARD TO MANAGE.

Pros: Great for keeping bits trimmed if you are short on time, though bits do need to be done regularly. skin in softer/wrinkly areas needs to be pulled tight, otherwise it really, really hurts and can cause minor cuts which bleed for a while! I have found that the hairs often snap close to the skin, more than get plucked out, so tweezers are needed too, which personally, I find less painful than the epilator, it just takes a lot longer!Use regularly, as in every few days, to keep pain to a minimum!Oh, by the way, I am a male and it use it for downstairs! Cons: If the skin isn’t tight, it really hurts and can nip the skin, causing bleeding.

It is quite painful, but then it is used in some sensitive areas!.

I have used my epilator twice now and both times have been impressed with how smooth my legs are afterwards. I’ve used it once in the shower and once dry and the results have been just as good both times.

The epilator seems to grab the shortest of hairs, unlike other models I’ve used. I have also found that I get very little pain using this epilator, again compared with other models I’ve had. Overall, I am so far very happy with my new buy.

Braun Silk epil 5 is an epilator that I wish I had when I have started to use epilators for a first time. I have used a few epilators so far, unfortunately my hair grows quickly and are quite strong which cause a range of challenges, add to this combo sensitive skin and straightforward act of epilation is not straightforward anymore.

I like and appreciate following features of Braun Silk epil 5: – shape of the epilator aligns smoothly to a shape of my body and it feels comfortable in my hand, anti-slip grip is very handy both in the bath and during dry epilation especially when I want to make sure my hand firmly stays in one place when I am using it – can be used during bath and on a dry skin which very much depends on your preference and what feels most comfortable for you – at the end of the day it pulls out hair from the root which even with the most gentle appliance can be felt so option of being able to use it in during bath when I feel relaxed and warm water makes the hair removal less painful is helpful.

– there are two levels of speed and I tried both on different length of my body hair – on both speed levels Braun Silk epil 5 is very effective, I personally prefer the faster speed however it terms of outcomes the speed doesn’t make difference.

– the machine is precise, it removes very short hair, the box says that it removes hair as short as 0. 5mm from the root which I found hard to believe till I tested it on myself. It is very precise, and it doesn’t break hair in half but fully pulls out hair from roots.

– although it is fantastic appliance you can’t avoid discomfort or sometimes painful experience during using it, simply because it pulls the hair out and even with the best appliance you can’t avoid discomfort.

However, with time my skin has increased tolerance level to the discomfort which helped a lot, removing hair from most sensitive parts of body like bikini line or under arms made my sensitive skin red for a short time but not irritated.

Overall, I think it is a great epilator and very effective one which is what one expects from this type of appliance.

I had never used an epilator before & was a little apprehensive as had heard from friends they can be painful. The device was easy to charge up and took an hour to reach full charge. This gives approximately 30mins of shaving time which I thought was good.

Initially I did a patch test on my legs when they were dry. Did find the epilation painful and left my legs red and felling a bit sore- I was expecting this as per the instructions. I have since used in the bath several times and found it not as painful but still get a little shock occasionally.

The device is easy to use with two speeds, wet or dry and has a safety lock feature which I really like. My legs are a little red after use still but I am very pale. My legs do feel smooth but I haven’t yet perfected my skill to remove all unwanted hair and had to go over with a razor to get the overall desired impact.

Hopefully I will improve my skill so that I can ditch razors altogether and be more eco friendly.

This is a easy to set up and use. There are two speed settings and the product is rechargeable via a shaver socket. I am so pleased that the epilator is easy to handle both in dry and wet environments.

I preferred using it in the shower as I felt I got better results. The more you use the epilator the better the results especially for first time users. Over time I needed to use it less and less. I am now a week in and do not have remove hair everyday like I used too.

As a newbie I have not got to the point where I have 4 weeks of smoothness but after a couple of sessions I found my legs were notably smoother and the results lasted longer than if I was to use a normal razor.

The epilator was not kind on my armpits but found using it on all other areas good.

Love this for maintenance, although it has gotten a bit slackish since I got it (1. 5y now) and especially in the bikini area doesn’t perform as I would like it to. But definitely love the ease and the multifunctional aspects of it!.

Die Haare wachsen langsamer nach und an manchen Stellen bleibt es kahl. In der Bikini Zone ist das Gerät unhandlich weil es so groß ist. Einstieg mit Stufe 2 nach der 5 Behandlung habe ich die Stufe 3 genutzt.

Meine Haut ist hell habe bisschen Sommersprossen meine Haare sind schwarz. Früher habe ich epeliert daher finde ich das leichte zwicken was manchmal kommt nicht schlimm. Resultat bis jetzt kann das Gerät weiterempfehlen, aber man braucht viel Geduld und Zeit bei der Anwendung.

Punkt Abzug gibt es dafür weil keine UV Schutz- Brille dabei ist. Wäre von Vorteil das Licht ist schon stark. Größe des Geräts ist ok könnte etwas kleiner Handlicher sein. Hoffe das ich nach der 12Behandlung zufrieden bin 😀.

Da man immer noch Haare spürt und sie auch deutlich sehen kann. Er ist nicht sehr laut und in 2 Stufen verstellbar von der Schnelligkeit. Ich habe ihn jetzt seit 2 Wochen in gebraucht und bin nicht wirklich von ihm überzeugt.

Der aku hält lang und gut. Auch die gesichts Bürste nicht so der Hit nach 3 Anwendungen brauch er schon neue Batterien. Ich hab ihn benutz um mich ab zu schminken und ich habe trotzdem noch nach arbeiten müssen.

It’s been over 5yrs since I’ve tried any form of hair removal. Illness diagnosis means that my skin is very thin and dry and untouchable. I decided to get this to use on my underarms, so that what hair was there not much as expected tbh, would be gone for longer.

In order not to always waste razor water, I bought this epilator spontaneously. Unfortunately, I have to say, I am not very satisfied with the first use. Unfortunately, I had to go over the same spots several times because not all of the hairs were plucked straight away.

Instead, the device only broke half of the hair. It took a long time until all the hair was gone. Maybe I’m just an absolute beginner at epilating !? In any case, I’m curious to see how long the legs really stay smooth.

It does what it’s meant to do. I have been using this epilator all my life, I don’t have any other to compare it with, to be honest. It was my mother’s before that! So for one thing it’s durable, heh.

It removes all the hairs and the effects last very long- up to 3 weeks, for me. It hurts a little, I have gotten used to it, but if you have a low tolerance you might not get used to it. Also, I get ingrown hairs every now and then, and I’ve been told it’s because of epilating.

But it’s not the specific epilator, I think all of them cause the occasional ingrown now and then. If you can stand some pain, go for it:).

I absolutely love it! I was using a cheaper one, different brand, for years. This is my first cordless ‘nicer’ epilator. The light it great. I feel like this Epilator gets hairs that are shorter. The spikey attachment makes it painless! This was my favorite purchase this far.

A family member recommended this product and I was thrilled. However, not even a second after trying it, I started hurting really bad that I even screamed a little. I thought threading my eyebrows was the worst it could get but I was wrong.

I usually have a high pain tolerance when it comes to stuff like that, but I was really surprised by reaction to this product. Everyone has a different pain threshold and tolerance, and this product might work for you, not me, but don’t get your hopes up.

Reviews can generally contain a lot of hyperbole and I will do my best to be honest without going overboard, but I really do like this unit a lot. I have been using epilators for many years. Tried anything from high end models to cheap drugstore units.

The Braun Silk-epil 7 ranks up there with the top of the line. – It comes with a lot of attachments, and even though I only use a few, it’s good to know I have the options for face, bikini, legs, etc.

The face one is very nice for between the brows, something I would NEVER have tried without the attachment for fear of ripping out my whole eyebrow. – There is a light on the front to illuminate where you are working, which my other epi’s have also had, so I expected it, but if you have never used one with a light you will find this VERY helpful to make sure you do not miss any hairs.

– It’s wet/dry so I can use it in the shower or tub. I usually do not allow my hairs to be wet when using the epi, as I am afraid they will break off instead of being pulled out, but the unit works so well I figured I would give it a try.

It worked beautifully wet, too. The real bonus was being able to clean it under running water & making sure all the hairs were removed. Much easier than just using the little brush that comes with most “dry only” units.

– It is cordless/rechargeable, which I wish I had realized how convenient that would be years ago. Doing my legs in the backyard while lounging was WAY nicer than plugged in while hovering over my tub with the cord barely reaching.

I was able to use it multiple times without recharging and that was very nice. Anyone who has used an epi before know they are not “painless”. They take time to get used to and can be very uncomfortable to use at first, BUT over time it just becomes a dull pinch that is hardly noticed when using it.

Many women give up after the first time or two thinking the discomfort will always be like that, but it really does go away. My first time I “ouch! ouch-ed!” through my whole leg while my sister did it for me laughing at my reaction.

weeks later I barely even noticed the pinch. My bikini area is still REALLY hard for me so I rarely use it there, but I know a few girls who have no trouble with that area at all. I will say this one does seem a bit less “rough” (a little less painful pinching when the hairs are removed).

For me the pain is usually minimal and I don’t even think about it anymore, but it did seem a less noticeable of a “tweezer feeling” they my previous unit. If you are using an epi for the first time it will still most likely will be somewhat uncomfortable for you, but give it a few seasons before you give up on it.

You really will get used to it, it’s just not instant. The lack of dark hairs on your legs over time will be worth it if you stick it out. I am not sure if it was wishful thinking on my part, but the silk 7 really did seem to pull more hairs instead of just breaking them.

Maybe it is pulling closer so it’s getting a better grip, or maybe it’s got better “grabbers” for the hairs, either way I noticed a lot more of the hairs being actually pulled out then with my previous epi, and a lot more “lighter” hairs being pulled and not just broken off, too.

I tried doing a section of my forearm and it actually pulled the lighter hairs out, not just break them, which would have never happened with my old epi. Overall, I really do like the new braun epi, it works very well, the wet/dry and cordless feature are options I didn’t realize were so nice to have, and to top it off it looks cute, too (the center part is slightly glittery -lol-).

If you are looking for high end epi with all the extras you will want (and some you might not realize you want), this is probably the one you are looking for. Buying a low priced model (which I have done before) can make you think this type of hair removal doesn’t work (it does) or is much more painful than it is.

It’s like just like buying a razor. there are cheap single blade razors that suck and nick you, and more expensive triple blade razors with guards and lotions that glide over your legs and work like magic.

do yourself a favor, pick the magic.
