20 Best Epicenter For Car Audio (2023 Updated)

That thing is fantastic. I don’t know how I was living without it all that time. Well, no one ever told me about it or suggested it during all of my installation appointments and questions I had asked the installers.

The funny thing is that one of the installers said that adding the Epicenter would not make any difference in my car audio system, and he refused to install it for me. Instead, he wanted me to buy a super expensive amplifier and even change my brand new subwoofer—what a shame.

My whole system sounds way better, silly loud, just by adding the Epicenter. I am even afraid to turn it up. The bass is so clear and booming. You can hear it from a few blocks away. Do not believe everything the installers tell you some of them are not looking out to save you money or help you out to get better sound from your system.

I am glad I know that now and always do my research not missing out on products like the Epicenter.

Thus was the most underrated purchase in my life. I didnt believe that this small device can provide such BIG results. If you have bass in your vehicle and do not have an epicenter connected to your original setup just crash your vehicle and start all over with purchasing the epicenter first.

WOW! Hard to explain what it will do until you buy one too. This will definitely increase your bass power, quality, and music listening experience. This is a MUST HAVE product for all music entertainment systems.

EPICENTER FOR LIFE!.

This product enhances low frequencies producing earth shattering DEEP bass!!! There are a few caveats. 1) The music you listen to does make a difference. With the stock PFM (33hz) module modern music may sound noticeably different.

This is because the new frequencies produced by the epicenter are below 33hz. 2) Adjusting the RCA voltage may help enhance the sound if your amp can take 7. 5 volts or higher. 3) I purchased a 15hz PFM module and it still wasnt low enough for the particular rap music I listen to.

Specifically, Trunk Make Noise by Trae. BOTTOM LINE – The EPICENTER works!!! If your music sounds different consider purchasing another PFM module directly from Audio Control. For most of us audiophiles you will probably need to build a custom PFM module to allow those ultra low frequencies to pass through.

I would gestimate around 8 to 10 hz would probably be the ultimate PFM module for all types of music, especially modern production. Of course if you listen to music with little to no bass the stock PFM module will be fine.

Overall 4. 6 stars! If this had a subsonic filter built in it would be 5 stars.

Audio Control makes top-of-the-line products, but, they pulled out all of the stops with the Epicenter! Cmon, when Black Betty, 70s classic rock, flexes the windshield more than the Decaf, slowed, or bass boosted music does without the epicenter, you know youre doing things! Ill never go without the epicenter at the heart of my system! I have heard it also enhances Spanish music a great deal.

The Epicenter takes 50,60,70,80’s recorded music and adds the low bass that was dropped off in the recording process. It makes a poor recordings sound full and more like a modern recording. It adds bass to that missing bass to your music.

Basically it grabs the lowest bass frequency in the music and boost it and recreates it one octave lower giving a bass drum that chest pounding bass it should have. 60hz is now still 60hz but with added 30hz.

You can also use it in your home system with a affordable 120v to 12 v dc adapter. Available on eBay. Love this product.

I am building a new system, even though Im hoping to compete with it, its my daily. So I need good sound, I am good with rap and whatnot for comp, but I mostly listen to rock and metal. This thing when tuned right with your systyem is amazing.

It gave me the bass in all my music, old to new! And it works with rap too. My whole dash shakes!.

The Audio control epicenter is an incredible bass restoration processor, it is not that hard to tune but can be a bit tricky, the best thing to do is set your two knobs on the epicenter to the middle and then tune you amp to its recommended voltage while the epicenter knob is turned all the way down.

Keep in mind that there are little jumpers inside that control the extra output voltages of 2. 5 volts for 8 inch subs, 5 volts for 10 inch subs, 7. 5 for 12 inch subs and 10 volts for 15 inch subs and above.

Remember that when the volume knob is all the way up, it will give you those extra volts so if you need 35 volts for your amp tune then do 30 volts and have your epicenter jumper set at the 5 volt jump and boom your tuned! Once you have it installed, all your rock music, Oldies, banda, ect will have low frequency bass.

I would highly recommend that you purchase the 15hz at 18db frequency chip from audio control so that your epicenter can go as low as 15 hz so that the music that you have can perform at its best. Otherwise you will have the standard 33hz at 18db frequency chip pre installed and yoir epicenter will NOT go lower than 33HZ.

Was just what i needed. Sounds really good with spanish music and remote makes it easy to adjust bass between different tracks.

First off you have to take the unit apart to adjust output level, ground isolation, and rca balance using tiny sips. Fyi epicenter is the same. The factory output was set to max and was WAY too overdriven for me.

5v worked for me. Research setting the wide and sweep controls online the instructions are vague. Basically the sweep is the frequency that is most boosted and width widens the boost around that frequency.

As with all cheap electronics BE GENTLE while tuning so the cheap switches and inputs don’t develope issues. All that being said if you’re patient you can’t make this unit make your sub(s) sound incredible if you’re broke like me and can’t afford an epicenter unit.

This is basically a direct copy of one. Will it last? Who knows.

With this crossover my 12s sound terrible. The bass is super sloppy. I used this to replace a 20 year old one that the rca came off. I hope to solder my rca back in my old one and won’t use this new one regardless.

It is worthless.

This is nothing more than and exaggerated bass boost. The unit comes with a dual knob controller with a subsonic filter needed to cut some of the overwhelming boost. I will not recommend this unit again!.

I have this hook up in an old school Rockford fosgate Power 851s. I have the gain in the Amp all the way down the crossover is set at full range in the amp. In the processor I have the Wide at 10 oclock and the Sweep at a hair under 9 oclock and the Volume is all the way up in the BX-15 and in the remote I have the Subsonic filter set at 35hz and the Volume in the knob I only go 1/4 up.

I have a Resilient Sounds 12 inch Onix and the SoundStream BX-15 is doing an outstanding Performance. 5 stars on this product all day.

This is the first processor Ive ever used its not a big difference in bass but it is noticeable in a good way for the money I couldnt have done better.

Took a little fiddling, but this $60 DSP made my 10-yr old Infinity Reference 12s come ALIVE! 2007 Ford Crown Victoria P71 Interceptor, JVC double-din head unit, hybrid front 5. 25″ component set, Rockford Prime rear component set (wouldn’t recommend aside from easy install), DB Drive 1050 monoblock, 3 Infinity DVC 12s in a 2.

6ohm loop. Setup; I set sweep about 15% up (30-35hz), wide set about 1/3, amp gain maxed, amp bass boost all the way down, amp crossover set open (max), subsonic filter set open (minimum), bass boosts/effects on head unit off, and head unit equalizer set to flat at 60hz and -3 (of +/-9).

To “bypass” this DSP’s subsonic filter, turn the right dial all the way down/counterclockwise and leave it pressed in. From there, the left, bass control knob lets me easily adjust the bass up to and back from distortion.

With three 10+yr old 12s, it’s now loud enough to make my ears ring when I get out. And my hearing isn’t the best by far! I highly recommend this over the $25-40 ones on the market for it’s adjustable preamp voltage setting and dual grounding alone.

Unit made a night and day difference on music with minimal bass, Oldies and old school music, R&B. With rapp music, had to turn down the bass knob, sounded distorted. It brings out all the bass you lost when converting to mp3 mp4 format.

If you like music that you can feel, I would recommend to add this to your system.

Purchased this along with other components for my install. All of the components are highly rated and I was really looking forward to getting my system installed so I could enjoy some good music in my car.

The parts aren’t the problem. The installation is the PROBLEM! Installers disabled my front door entry sensors, scratched my door panel with a screwdriver or something sharp. My window on my drivers side won’t roll down all the way, passenger door makes a very loud clunk when rolling down.

Front door tweeters are wayyyyyyyyy to bright(I have to turn the tweeters all the way down), Rear speakers play only mid bass(they’re coaxial speakers)! Very disappointed with install! I’ve been back 3 times for help and haven’t resolved anything yet! My next appointment is next Tuesday and it will be my last! If everything isn’t repaired and adjusted correctly, I’ll be demanding my money back! Stay tuned!.

Spent a ton of money at BestBuy to retrofit a Toyota Tundra JBL system. All I have gotten from the Techs is blame on the JBL system. This device is missing the controls (thrown out by the techs?) and completely screws up Bass response at the very expensive amp.

Bass comes on suddenly as either loud and thumping or NOT AT ALL. Crossover settings? Remote is missing. The whole this is very poor. I am very disappointed in the install, and now I have to wait 4 weeks to get it tuned properly.

I bought this to replace an LC6 that was giving me some problems. It was nice to see this unit was smaller than mine, I must have had an older larger footprint model. This unit was perfect for my install.

I wanted to keep the OEM unit installed and just amplify the speakers. My set-up didn’t have a subwoofer out signal and the internal summing of unit made it so it would have one going out to the subwoofer.

About 1 month in. So far it’s going great, but i’m not sure how long these units last.

There is a bit of a learning curve. I don’t like the way the remote light stays on when the car is off. i’m sure there’s a secret jumper to change this. i’ve only set one memory so far. I got this to add mid range to my factory stereo that I added amps to.

It worked very well for this. I added the bluetooth module which makes it nice to change or monitor the system through my phone. Audio control stuff always seems to be a little overpriced. But there isnt a lot of choices out there that i’m aware of.

The ebay listed the item as “new” Be aware that opened box and missing contents constitutes “new” on ebay. They had the wrong cable in the box. It was supposed to be a USB cable but was a remote wire for an ACR.

I was sent a “new” cable but not what comes with the “new” units.

This processor is by far the top ability of tuning ur system EQ !! There is other as well like bit10 as well, to use as a processor , but the DM608 is top in its class as far as tuning optimum sound in ur system.

Took my system to a whole new level. If you are serious about car audio, you already know about audio control. Lol

So I was choosing between this and the audio control and Im glad I decided on the NVX. Im pretty sure this thing puts out more than 9. 5v that they claim because I had this thing on a multi meter and it reached 9v around 3/4 of the way on the bass gain.

I turned the dial until it read 5v because my kicker amp has a max input low level of 5v. And I set the gains with a SMD DD1 distortion detector. I dont even have the gain 1/10 of the way up and it is supplying my 4 8inch skar IXs with all the power they need.

This is a must have for people that are wanting to retain their factory stereo and put some subwoofers in. Im very pleased with this purchase and would definitely buy again if needed.

This like out converter is a great unit. Ive never installed one, but with a quick YouTube search and 30 minutes I had it in and functional. It has awesome options. Excellent preamp output. The bass roll-off eliminating feature is a must for real clean sound from a factory head unit.

NVX is a great company. Sonic Electronics is second to none.

I would say this is ideal for car audio, but it has some issues for home theater. It does work. I used it for initial testing of a 4 way speaker design. I was able to adequately EQ and set delays. However, there is the issue of the unit shutting off when input signal is too low, the extremely short delay time before it turns off, and seemingly long wake up time.

In RCA mode, it will turn off when a song is a little too quiet. And it will turn off when you hit pause. and it will take several seconds to turn back on when you hit play again. The “fix” is to set the unit to REM mode, and then it stays on all the time.

No shut off to worry about. Also, don’t increase the gain above zero. Increasing the gain makes it noisy. But it is fairly quiet if you leave the gain at zero or below. I did replace this with a different DSP unit.

Features I gained that this unit lacks is a much larger range of delay settings, EQ and filters on the inputs, and balanced inputs. The ability to use longer delay settings makes a big difference for adjusting multiple subwoofers.

I had my wish list for my car audio concerning: quality, flexibility, line output converter, (accu)bass, equalizer, sound staging etc. But I was kind of forced to keep my original factory radio with all its controls.

I did an extensive research on the internet and most of the reviews Ive read pointed out to this item. So I did my purchase and I couldnt be happier. Thanks to those reviews, SonicElectronix and AudioControl for making this part of the audio system (sound processing) a perfect selection.

This thing is amazing, I have a 2013 Honda Pilot and upgraded the whole audio system a with an JL amp and speakers (including a sub), however I needed to keep the factory radio and although it sounded ok I expected a lot more for what I payed.

Recently I starting researching and came up with the DQ-61 and at the beginning I was very esceptic about what to expect, but I must say it is great, the signal from the radio is being flattened and the bass restored (I never notice that I was lacking bass), the EQ is doing the job for the vocals and the best part is the delay, now I really have soundstage, its like the artist is playing directly from the dash.

I replaced the 4 speakers and add an amplifier, the tech that installed the equipment spend large hours in the installation and calibration, yes there was an improvement in the sound quality but I don’t think that the cost Vs.

Benefit is worth it. It would be great if you can adjust the bass with the dial under the dash as you can do it with the epicenter.

I am truly impressed by these little buggers! I installed a pair of them under the rear seats of my ’15 Silverado to bring some more bottom to the Bose system, and I’ve been pounding on them for months now and have had zero issues.

Nice tight thump, nice response through a pretty wide frequency range. They’re obviously not like a set of 12’s, 15’s, etc. but for 6. 5’s I’m pretty blown away. Enclosures are well constructed, too.

If I had the space, I’d buy another set to throw in there! Now, I’m trying to decide if I wanna replace my Bose components with Skar stuff. Gimme a deal and I’ll continue promoting the crap out of Skar! Already talked two friends into buying them! ;).

Put 2 of these in my 01 audi s4. They sounds awesome. Won’t hit those super lows but damn they do sound good. Good addition and much stronger than the factory subs. Paired these with a Skar amp also and wiring.

Been running around 6 months now wirh zero issues. Complete setup was under $450. Best BANG for the buck.

Love this sub for to many reasons. Really impressive for its size. now it Don’t hit all the notes like a big sub would but man this thing surprised me for what it is. Fits right under the seat of 2021 forester like it was made for it.

If your cargo area is need this is the perfect option for better sounds quality with sacrificing cargo space.

Easy to install makes the bass so much better

It seems to be a fairly good little bass processor, a couple things i don’t like about it is the way the positive and negative wiring hooks up, i get a constant humming noise that only goes away if you turn the sound way up on your stereo, it is possible i could have gotten a defective one because i did purchase the one i had as an open box deal, so there’s the possibility that something is wrong with it, otherwise it does boost your bass and make a big difference in the performance of your amp.

Its a good product and everything but once I plugged it in it turned on and major difference in music but I kept getting a humming noise and did everything possible to fix it and the lights of the unit did not turn on.

I got this product because it has 6 channels and I am trying to hookup 4 focal speakers and 2 tweeters and a jl sub in my truck using the factory head unit and this has all the channels and the factory line output conversion needed and had good reviews.

I haven t installed it yet, I still need to buy my component system and rear speakers and sub and wiring but this was definitely first on my list to buy. Can t wait to see how it works.

this unit has 3 additional EQ settings that most bass processors do not have. I have a slim ported Rockville dual 12 sub box under the back seats of my van. Without the processor, I just could not get my bass to how I liked it.

Installed this processor and it works wonderful. The two knob remote is good. I do not find myself adjusting the Frequency cut off, just using the bass enhancement circuit depending on the music I send it.

Most of the time, the bass enhancement is really low on the remote, but, when putting on some early 80’s new wave (think Depeche Mode’s first 3 albums), you need to enhance the bass. This unit is great!.

Bx-23q epicenter only worked for 3 days, soundstream customer service does not want to help with warranty, had to pay out of my pocket to get it fixed

I had this push my rockford 18 punches with my amp. The loudest I ever had heard them get is when I installed this epicenter, does it’s job and looks awesome.
