20 Best Energy Saving Power Strips (2023 Updated)

Once put together, this item is beautiful and looks just like the picture. Unfortunately the back is made of cheaper material than the rest, so the back has to be against the wall to avoid being seen.

It was fairly easy to put together with the assistance of an electric screwdriver, otherwise, it would have been really difficult to get all of the screws in tight. That said, I’m quite happy with this purchase.

I like how the cord is longer than most surge protectors because it allowed me to plug in my electronics from a greater distance. The two USB slots is just an added bonus.

Good quality. I like that it plugs in at an angle. I was able to put nails in the wall and hang the power strip on the nails, so that is a nice space saving quality.

The power strip works fine for its intended purpose, but the force required to seat plugs is abnormally high. Leaning over my lab bench, it is incredibly difficult to generate the required force to plug something in without pounding on the plug in question; not a big deal for wall warts, but pretty awful for cable-end plugs.

This was perfect for what I needed. I mounted it under my 80? long standing desk using Velcro so that I have outlets along the length of the desk. Definitely recommend if you need spread out power outlets.

This is a great product, at an excellent price. It’s in a metal enclosure, and has mount points included. The outlets are spaced out so that wall warts and power supplies can plug in directly. Similar strips sell for twice as much in stores.

My garage doubles as a karate and fitness studio. I needed adaptability and surge protection for my Zoom monitor, fans, and chargers but, the outlets are limited and mounted higher up. This product solved these issues plus it’s extended reach allowed me to conceal other cables.

The price is also great as compared to bulkier units.

As I got home with the GE units, I looked at the website and noticed Tripp-Lite units that I was more familiar with. I upsold myself getting 8 receptacles instead of the 6 on the GE units plus 2 USB ports.

Bought this to connect multiple devices in my home office to that solitary power socket on my wall. This works really well! I’ve connected two monitors, my laptop, a printer and my desk headphones and there has been no dip in performance of anything.

There are no electrical surges due to voltage fluctuations at all.

This is for my mancave HT. HTPC is master. turns on: power amp – 7 x 125 wpc, AVR X5200, 3xBASH 300 sub amps, Infnity S9 cooling fans , minidsp 2×4 (dsp for the subs/ shakers) noncontrolled: BD , Behringer NX3000 amps.

Berry 6000 amp,more subs> NF for TR, P. E. 250 plate amp 4 x Aura shakers. all on a dedicated 20 amp line. the extra outlets were deemed essential for the sake of “simplicity / control” replaced another brand of smart strip which after 3 years was having shut-down issues- as smart strips will eventually develop.

If you have power pack plugs, then there is not enough room to use it for your office. I want to use it for my computer, monitor, printer, shredder, phone charger and photo display. Some of my plugs are power pack plugs which take up a lot of room so they block the other outlets.

The other bank of outlets (the green ones) are not always on. So I can’t use them for anything that needs constant usage. I had to add a second power strip to this one. Now it’s real messy with extra wires.

Maybe I’m not using it right but I didn’t see any instructions in the box.

I have several other smart power strips but none of them worked when either my 75″ TV or Yamaha receiver were plugged into the master outlet. Their sense adjustments were too touchy. I’ve got multiple power amplifiers and other devices that need control.

This strip has specified thresholds for on/off. Worked perfectly for me. The outlets are a little too close together for some adapters but that’s the only negative.

Does what it is supposed to do. Read instructions in paperwork. The last for outlets are controlled by using the Master outlet. If nothing is plugged into the master outlet, the following four will remain “off” or temporarily non functional.

The first two outlets are independent and are always functional as long as the entire unit is turned on.

Great for use with computer. I can shut down my computer and all its components by Attaching the computer into the master switch. It also allows me to have a light that is not on the master switch.

First, when this thing is connected, it works well. Two major concerns, first if you happen to lose connection to the WiFi with this device, reset process does NOT work easily, sometimes at all. Which means this thing suddenly becomes a “dumb” power strip, then of course there is the second issue.

Second issue is that if power is lost at all to the strip, it will NOT turn on the outlets unless you have them programmed to come on. I tried using this on an aquarium, and I would definitely NOT recommend that if you care about the livelyhood of your fish.

Works great. I have it controlling an Aquaponics system. Mostly lighting, though I have a Stitch water sensor that will alert me if there is an overflow and I can then remotely shut off the pump. Haven’t had an issue with it at all.

Will get more as the system grows. I’m impressed with the quality of the unit. Overall, couldn’t be happier.

After reading many many reviews on various surge protected powers strips I’m glad I finally discovered the Tripp-Lite brand. The build and quality feel of the componentry instills confidence right out of the box.

Love the fact I can switch individual power lines on or off. I’m currently using my ECO-surge to hook up multiple UV/heat lamps for my son’s pet lizard tank. These lamps draw a lot of current and need to be on or off at different times of the day.

I used to hate physically unplugging the power chord but no more. This product is the perfect solution that came along at the perfect time for me. ps. my only criticism is the industrial design looks very outdated (I’m available to help with improving that Tripp-Lite folks if your listening :).

We bought the Tripp Lite surge protectors because we like the how it has individual power switches for each outlet and one always on port. It was easy to mount on the wall to keep the cords out of the way.

Received as a gift for my workshop. Seems well made, solid, mounted nicely, working great. Loved the individual switches and indicator lights for 6 of the 7 outlets! Very familiar with this brand from many years of using their products.

I put this with my home entertainment center. Television, surround sound, blue ray,cable box. I have the threshold set to high , the problem I had was that the surround sound was dropping out at every commercial and then the same thing when it went back to the show! I then went to try watching a blue ray movie and every time I went to switch the input to the television it would kill the power to the blue ray player.

I purchased this because I was thinking about a whole house energy saver that is way too expensive to install. This type of device was recommended by the power company to save energy and money. Havent had it long enough to know if it will reduce the bill.

If it does it deserves a five star.

Works perfectly. Was concerned about Roku over heating and wasting power. Not anymore. Everything I want to shut off does and the live spots for lamps work great.

Good wattage grading to expand a single plug’s output to it’s highest potential. Great way to safely expand power needs in a cramped space or corner. Great for a power workstation setup for CPU main unit, monitor, printer, UPS backup, etc.

This is a power strip – NOT a surge protector. I saw reviews of people complaining, because they don’t understand the difference between a power strip and a surge protector. Many are not aware that one of the biggest causes of fires are sub-standard power strips.

There have been news reports showing how many bargain bin power strips are unsafe, because they are constructed below safety standards. An example of this is when a power strip is manufactured with an insufficient gauge of copper wire, which then in turn overheats from the electrical current that is passing through the wire, which then causes the power strip to catch fire.

Because of this you have to be careful when buying a bargain bin or non-UL/CSA safety listed power strips. It’s not worth risking a fire to save a couple of dollars.

I purchased this item due to the flush mount indicated in the product photo. Unfortunately, this was not the case. Luckily, I was able to easily return it to my local OFFICE MAX and they had a version IN STOCK that met my needs.

The replacement was great and perfect for use behind a dresser. The flush mount of the replacement allowed me to move the dresser closer to the wall. Check your local Office Max if you need a flush mount power strip.

It is very simple to use and the instructions are clear and concise. Actually, if you replace all of your strips with these new “advanced” power strips and compare your electricity bills to previous months you will find that they make no difference whatsoever in the amps or watts (don’t use the bill amount, just the actual electricity used).

Ours even went up.

I use this on my Virtual Pinball build and daisy chained it to a regular surge strip powering three monitors and 3 amps. Sockets are tight for any larger plugs so wouldn’t be able to fill this out, but the problem exists for most surge strips so all in all not a major issue.

When the PC is turned to sleep or shutdown it turns off as expected, shutting down the rest of the outlets. When I move the mouse to bring it back on or turn it back on the monitors/amps turn right back on! I set it to the low sensitivity and works perfect.

I either misread the box or the description on it was not clear so hopefully I can help others make an informed decision. The main idea behind this product is to reduce the number of electronics that draw power even when you turn them off.

One example, in my case, is the Wii U has a low power state that can still receive updates even when I have the console turned off. With this power strip, the green outlet closest to the end that the power cord comes out of is the “Master” to all of the other green outlets.

Whatever is plugged into that outlet controls whether the rest of the green outlets receive power. For instance, if I plug my TV into the Master green outlet and my Wii U to any of the other green outlets, if my TV is on, I can turn on my Wii U.

If my TV is off, the outlet supplying the Wii U is off and it cannot draw power like before and receive system updates until I turn it back on. There is a switch on the surge protector that is, in my understanding, supposed to change the threshold for which electronics get affected by this shot down based on the Master, but in my experience and with the electronics I have plugged in, the switch did not change anything.

The two grey outlets are individually powered just like any regular surge protector outlet. For what I have in my entertainment stand, I was expecting 7 individual outlets and I don’t like turning off one of my electronics and then all the rest get their power cut.

So ultimately, this power strip allows 3 electronics to be turned on and off at will and 4 outlets that will not receive power unless the electronic plugged into the Master outlet is turned on. It is just not what I wanted and is annoying but I’m making it work for now.

This power strip has 7 outlets which is average wished it had usb plug in but not gonna ding the product for that. The master plug is a nice feature since I use this for my desktop so all other electronics turns off once the computer turns off.

Like monitor and led strips. The only downside is how flimsy the outlet sliding protector is. It fell off after a day easy to put back on but it falls off again.

Absolutely love my new setup. Wish I had done it earlier! My husband repeatedly commented on how well made the desk is during assembly…which was fast and easy per the instructions. The cable management tray is a must-have.

html BUT the power strip does not come with this tray. Nothing on the website makes mention that the power strip does not include any mounting hardware! Not even screws to mount into the pre-drilled holes under the desk.

Nada. ALSO the power strip does not have any 45 degree plugs as claimed on the website. Maybe the website is unchanged from some prior product? This power strip appears to be designed to lay flat on a surface with all the plugs at 90 degrees perpendicular to the surface the power strip is resting on – just like any other ordinary, run-of the-mill power strip.

Given the quality and thoughfulness that went into my standing desk, I was expecting a whole lot more. I just paid $35 for a power strip that is no better or better suited to purpose than the several I already own.

The power strip fits nicely in the cord caddy and can accomodate plenty of plugs. I purchased the 15′ and it is way more cord than I needed. Recommend measuring the distance you need for sitting and standing to the nearest outlet and select the right one for your space.

Switch is not lighted and no markings to indicate if it’s ON or OFF. The cord is 8 feet which is a plus compared to most power strips which only have 2 or 3 foot cords. That gave it two stars but the lack of markings or lights on the switch stopped it from getting more.

Great, standard power strip with a long cord, which is what I needed. Just FYI— there is no light to tell you if it is on or not. Good for a bedroom when you don’t want to see that in the dark, but you wouldn’t know if the button got pushed by accident.

But the price for the quality is excellent!.

Perfect! We needed a basic, simple and inexpensive power cord and this one fits our needs wonderfully. Cord is long enough to connect everything behind the television and we have had no issues with connectivity.

2017 and coming into 2018 “we” are buying more and more items requiring USB chargers. If you have a flat screen tv, you probably have an aftermarket sound system, BlurRay/4K player, powered sub(s) and a host of other items needing to be plugged in.

We use to be able to get by with the 6 outlet surge protector but NO MORE. My wall charger USB adapters for my phone and blue tooth headsets are taking up all of the room on my surge protector. I mounted this unit onto my wall behind my entertainment center (in order to hide most of the cords).

The way I have it situated, it is easy for me to plug “additional” gadgets / devices into this 12 outlet and have plenty of room for the “LARGE” chargers/adapters when needed. You know the adapters that are large black square shaped and take up two spaces.

No more unplugging something to make something fit. The cord on this unit is toooo short (3 ft) but if you don’t mind running a “QUALITY” extension cord or if you have an outlet “NEAR” where you want to plug this item up to then it is going to be hard to pass this by.

Once you purchase and start to use it you’ll ask yourself why you didn’t get this sooner. BTW. Don’t be afraid to install this unit with the cord on the bottom. It doesn’t matter one way or the other but it will give you a little more flexibility in deciding the location that you are going to use it.

But do yourself a favor. Wherever you decide to put this unit, be sure to mount it. There are way to many plugs that are going to be put in and taken out to worry about the “stability” of this unit. It comes with mounting holes.

Use them. and if possible, mount it to a stud or solid piece of wood for the long haul/duration.

The big discount chain home improvement stores want a surprising $49-$69 for this simple device just because its slightly more uncommon and not outright ugly. A well made (sturdy and moderately nice appearance) power strip with 12 outlets spaced for most power adapters.

Not a surge protector — which means you can plug it into a Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) without fear that failed surge protection device will short out your more expensive battery backup power.

Ideal for supporting several monitors, switches etc for a few minutes from a larger UPS. When the power blinks you don’t lose streaming or interrupt a backup if other devices on your network are similarly protected.

Or if its more than a blink you have time and visible monitors to do a safe controlled shutdown. Comes with endcaps that allow screwing the strip securely under or at the back of a desk or bench. Could also be attached with heavy duty, double stick tape too I suppose.

Pros: great number of outlets, sturdy-looking exterior. Cons: very poorly constructed, too thin with bare minimum structural support, easily twistable and breakable, loosely tightened screws. The build quality isn’t so good and may not be safe, if not used properly.

I love this thing. It charges things quickly. The only thing I didn’t like was that it doesn’t have the holes on the back for hanging on screws or nails. This is a nice option for elderly or disabled that can’t reach down to the floor.

Works great. Purchased because it has 2 usb connectors that work with computer and mobile devices.

We needed a power strip that would fit behind and under a dresser and help keep cords tucked away. The flat plug on this was perfect and the rest of the power strip seems to be very good quality.

This went very well with my living room and held all my chargers plus tv. My major issue is the super-sensitive power switch on the side that resets the TV when anything touches it. For all my other power strips, you have to press the power button for anything to happen.

This one, nope! If it flips onto the side while you’re unplugging a charger, it resets the tv. If the cat walks past it and the cat’s leg grazes the switch, it resets the TV,. sweeping, vacuuming, etc.

Maybe I got a defective one?.

The pictures are misleading. I did get a white surge protector, but it had a braided cord, not a regular cord like the one I bought a year ago. Nothing wrong with it, I just prefer the old version. I went to the store and got the white surge protector with the 4ft regular cord instead.

I haven’t had any problem with it even when I have lots of things plugged in. Pretty sleek and modern design.

I ordered this outlet to protect my investment in TV and avoid the surge damage. This outlet has a nice black and grey color. The quality of material is really good. I really like the braided cord, and clever design of the plug that would let you to use the other electric outlet in the wall.

It has surge protection against 620 joules. The power key is on the side, and there is no light indicator.

First off the wire corded was amazing, I haven’t seen one like it yet. Secondly, Its functional for all areas of the house. Finally it worked with all our outlets just fine, we just needed to buy the adapter for it as our home doesn’t have the 3 prongs.

Overall it is perfect in either the kitchen or near computer where we need most cords to work. I got one in black and the cord was a wrapped silver look, very nice!.

So happy I got this surge protector. I had an old one for almost 15 years. This one does the job much better. I like the fact that this color is black and grey, it has a space saving flat plug, automatic shut down technology and integrated circuit breaker for overload protection.

The Joules protection is 620. So you know this is a good product.

My garage has a single duplex outlet in the ceiling near the garage door opener. This worked fine to handle my door opener and network router. then I installed a new door opener. What I learned was: If you have a vehicle that is over 6 years old, the Homelink built into your car no longer interfaces with new door openers.

Found that out after I bought the new opener, or I would have surfed for a used one. Anyway, the fix is to install a repeater near the opener that acts as a decoder, allowing you to use your legacy vehicle with the new Homelink II.

Of course, this unit requires power as well. That is where a small, short cable power strip comes in handy. This one fit the bill perfectly, as it can be firmly attached to the ceiling (in this case) with 2 screws, via key slot mounting.

Problem solved!.

Great product! It worked perfectly! We used it for my coffee bar. I have a Keurig, a Hamilton Beech Brew Station and my coffee grinder. One outlet wasn’t enough. I needed a power strip. This was small, had four outlets, and this one was a surge protector which was even better! P.

I have 2 others exactly the same. They all work well and I like that they light up when working. The lights show Protected and Grounded. The plugs are far enough apart, there are even 2 outlets facing out on the sides, and the cord is study and long without being heavy.

The best feature is that there is a UL listed emblem proof on the back of the unit. This is a lot harder to find in surge protectors than you would think and with most, you just have to take the company’s word that it is UL listed, at least until you get it.

It is not usually on the photo. The amount of joules is also excellent. Do not hesitate to choose this item and company. I wish they had one small and light enough for travel with a long cord. I’ll keeping looking and waiting!.

This is an extremely well made, durable, quality product, unlike any other brand or model at this price point. This model and better at Tripp Lite cut off power if the surge protector becomes compromised.

For under $35 you can even have models with an audible alarm on top of that before they even begin to fail. Think about this. In a bad storm, you often have multiple lightning hits. Most brands and types of surge protectors keep functioning as mere power strips after being damaged, and with no warning whatsoever! That second hit will then fry all of your equipment and even void your original warranty, leaving you completely out of luck and with no recourse.

This model also has good line filtering for when other appliances like HVAC or those needing high startup power create voltage spikes and interference for home theater and sensitive electronic equipment.

Most computer and electronics failures are due to a series of many repeated spikes rather than single direct hits. You can go five dollars cheaper but it is only foolish to risk it. This model is absolutely the best made and best bang for your buck.

It will handle anything plugged into it that draws less than 15 amps simultaneously. I personally own 7 of these for everything less than my home theater setups and can not recommend them more highly.

However, this model can indeed handle a home theater system no problem. The only electric/electronic device in my home not on a Tripp Lite is my toothbrush, because the outlet is too close to the sink and a safety risk.

I do not work for Tripp Lite nor am I getting paid for this review. I’m an Electronics Engineer who lives in the Midwest where there are frequent storms and would like to save you from future regret at having made simple mistakes with your own devices trying to save 5 dollars somewhere else.

You can’t find better surge protectors below this model. Anybody worth their salt in my field knows that Tripp Lite surge protectors are the best made, bar none.
