Ok. let me start by saying I’m definitely no pro. haven’t traveled the globe fly fishing every species of fish known to man. but have been fly fishing the mtn west States for over 45 years. I very recently purchased the 6wt.

blown away by it. took it to a very technical AAA gold medal river (very cold conditions). had to make several long precise roll casts. hooked into many large fish. yep landed them. the damn rod feels.

looks and performs like an $800. 00 rod. I get it. I totally prefer usa and I’m a huge sage/scott guy. but after this weekend. I’m seriously reconsidering my preference. well worth the cost. a local guide has been fishing these for a bit.

laughed when he saw mine and asked how I like it. then began to tell me how he owns 4 of them. it’s his preferred rod. I have no skin in the game. buy one of the rods.

These rods are freakishly strong, there’s not a flathead or blue catfish alive anywhere that this rod can’t handle, there’s not a blacktip shark swimming these can’t handle. With that said they’re stiff so they don’t flex much & getting one to load up to cast far can be tough.

They also do not show light bites well on little fish like 3lb channel cats. But if you’re looking for a rod that will pull stalled out boats back into shore you’ve found it.

Used several times surf fishing and had good results. It is set up with a Penn 6500 reel. Casts well, but you could probably little more distance with a longer rod. I hadn’t got anything massive on yet, but the rod feels very solid.

I’d recommend this item as an affordable surf rod for a good price.

If you’ve ever been disappointed by snapping the tip off your favorite fishing rod then you need this kit. Or maybe the rod tip has come loose or lost the insert?? 3 Good quality rod tips, hot glue and heat shrink included to make the repairs quick and easy.

Lightly sand the damaged area, slide the heat shrink tube down to the next guide, warm up the glue stick and install. If you don’t get it straight the first time then warm up the glue on the bottom of the rod tip and align while wearing an insulated glove.

Once alignment is finished just slide the heat shrink up to cover the area over the base of the new tip and heat gradually until it shrinks. Bam you’re finished and ready to start fishing with your old favorite again.

I saved plenty of mine and buddies this way. Old sentimental fishing rod that used to be Grandpas? Dad’s? No sweat, fix it today.

I only needed one tip but this pack with three sizes was so cheap I bought it. The instructions were the weak part. I followed their suggestion to put hot glue on the rod, then heat the replacement tip and slide it on.

This I think is poor advice. The ferrule of the replacement tip can rake off the glue as you slide it on. My first glue attempt didn’t work–the tip came loose after a few casts. My solution was to cut off small slivers of the hot glue and stick them inside the rod tip ferrule.

Reheat the glue on the rod, then the ferrule and slide it on. This squeezes glue out of the ferrule ensuring complete contact. I think some of the other kits give you a narrow strip of hot glue that you can place inside the ferrule so this is not an original idea.

I am impressed with the quality of this rod, it’s light weight, comfortable grips, and beautiful finish. It cast like a dream I have been using it for big crankbaits like 6XD’s,DD22’s,and Fat Free Shad’s.

It can really launch them even into the wind. Can not wait to try it with a bladed jig. I ended up ordering a 7’2″ Medium and a 6’10” Medium for smaller crankbaits.

I bought this rod a few weeks ago for a dedicated crankbait rod ill have to admit its way better than I expected. For medium diveing crankbaits like DT6 or bandit 200 it awsome great sensitivity and just the right amount of flex I have it paired up with a daiwa tatula reel I definitely would recommend the only downside is ordering it online at bass pro and the extremely slow shipping.

Awesome light weight rod. The design is sick and also functional with the included measurement. The overall design is pretty much perfect. Its comfortable to hold and use for those long fishing days without your hand getting fatigued or uncomfortable.

The clicking rod dial keeps my reel secure and has never loosened or come undone at all. 2 Piece makes it very convenient for transport. I know a lot of people get concerned with the rod coming undone while fighting a fish but fear not.

That is not happening with this rod at all. Once its secure its secure!.

I had this shipped and when i opened the bottle the contents must have gotten wet because the powder was hardened. I broke it up with a spoon and used it but shouldn’t have. It ruined my eggs. I should have returned the product but it just wasn’t convenient so i still have it.

I purchased three of these SLX spinning rods. Two were the same length and the third was a bit different. I ended up giving one to a buddy. All three rods broke between the first and second eyelet at the tip of the rod in the first season.

I always keep mine in our boat rod storage and I don’t know about the rod I gave to my friend. Also have heard from others who have purchased these rods of issues breaking in the same spot. Buy something else!.

Unfortunately, this model missed the mark. I have gone through 4 SLX rods, thankfully, Academy has handled all of the exchanges for me. The first rod broke on the second fishing trip. Reeling in a 5lbs bass, the tip snapped.

The second one snapped mid core while casting a small top water lure, well within the weight range of line and lure. The 3rd had another rod tip break on a 1lb bluegill. I reluctantly exchanged again for the same model.

When I arrived at the ranch, the reel seat lock’s cover was loose. I figured it’s only cosmetic and can be glued down. Then I went to cast a $12 lure only to watch it sail out to the middle of the pond due to a snapped line.

I looked over the rod and found the guides were in poor condition and cut the line on casting. I took it back, and Academy let me trade it for a Dobyn’s. I can’t applaud Academy’s customer service enough, but avoid this Shimano rod.

I bought two of these and paired them with Abu Garcia Revo Inshore Reels. The rods are amazing. Lightweight, fast but strong action, and will cast a lure/ bait as far as you could possibly want to cast it.

Great for trout and bass fishing. Highly recommend.

Very difficult to pick the right size. “Luna Sea” has assured me they will work on this. “Inshore”, is the better bet for most UK use. The “All Species” is massive. Think 50 to 80lb class work. I’ve got far too many.

Last batch of “Inshore” including a “Leader Mate” came direct from “Luna Sea” themselves. The “Inshore” fits an AFTCO #1. Fit without washing up liquid or it will never hold on the taper. Really compliments “acid rung” rods that do not need a gimbal plate to stop twist.

Covers most of my lighter gear. Thus, the big “Smitty’s” gimbal plate can generally be left at home. Ideal, for those on Cardiac meds, like myself, who bruise very easily. Job sorted. Rgds. Malcolm Hayward.

They come on various sizes that fit rods of different sizes and all sizes provide a great “cushion†that is very effective in protecting you body. Recommend when you need on occasion you are fighting big fish and don’t want to use a rod belt.

It says it’s good for long fights, but who’s to say what a long fight is? I would definitely recommend it – I had a few bruises by the end of a 25 min standup spinning fight. Would love to see an even thicker bottom, still left me sore for a few days.

But regardless, it’s an amazing product, super easy to put on, floats, doesn’t slide off, and holds up super well. It will wear down over time, but I think just the lower walls, from gimbal rod butt scraping in frantically (like myself).

My ceramic guide was cracked and shredded the first two feet of line(weight distribution of a spinner bait). I couldn’t afford a new rod, so I tried this kit out. One actually for my tip perfect. Melted some glue from the stick, followed instructions and boom, all good.

I have hooked up on a few good size bass(5-6pounders) and it’s holding up well. Everytime I hit a ceiling, tree or Jeep door, I cringe imagining the tip hanging off. It is always still there and holding strong.

Fit the price you can’t beat it.

Tried these to repair a broken tip on an expensive rod. Heat glue up and applied the new tip. Seems to hold well so far. Cheap salvage of an expensive rod.

Bought this tip to repair my HMG 7′ spinning rod. Liked the fact it comes with 3 different size tips so your sure to find one that fits. The rod tip glue is nothing more than a hot glue stick. I re-glued the tip a few times because it didn’t hold.

Maybe I’m not doing it right. I finally got some 2 part expoxy.

I have eight bass rods that I load into the rod locker in my boat. These sleeves keep the lines from tangling. With these you can actually slide two or even three rods into the same rod locker tube. A real winner when I take friends on my boat.

These are great rod sleeves, I use them for 2 different purposes. I have one rod locker that has a built-in rod rack. The front part where the rod tips go in can bump the rod guides so I have put these in each hole and attached them permanently with silicone.

I use them as rod covers for my spinning rods that are just laying loose in the other rod box, they work great for keeping my rods from getting tangled.

All my rods are kept covered with rod sleeves and I like different colored ones. Love the pink. Keeps the lines tangle free and free of damage. Works perfectly

I always break down my rods for transport but leave the line through the eyelets. This product keeps the line from tangling with other rods close by, and protects the eyelets when walking through forested areas.

The webbing material is a bit more robust then a similar product I have. It also has a gentle reinforced tip for the two ends of your dismantled rod. Highly recommend if you like to break down rods and keep line threaded in eyelets.

Bought this for myself since we have many rods we take on the boat and they always get tangled together while driving. The sleeve seems well made although I wish it had something to secure it on the rod such as a loop or tie.

I think it was designed to take your hook off but the mess is very flexible and seems like it would be easy to get the hook out. Haven’t tried it on the boat yet but liking it so far.

the actual sleeve is great. I have the Desert Camo color which is actually just plain beige but it is definitely a tighter weave than the standard sleeves. Length is great on a 6’6″ – 7′ spinning set up.

My only issue is that it does not have a loop at the top to hang nor does it have an elastic cord at the bottom to attached to the reel handle to prevent the sleeve from slipping off, which it does. I had to tie a piece of string to the bottom of the sleeve to make this work, which I don’t feel like I should have to do on a basic rod sleeve.

I bought a second toro hart ultra slow 6os rod. I have been using the first one for two months with great satisfaction. Very light, sensitive, resistant even with large prey. I highly recommend it. Reliable and accurate dealer.

I have owned custom rods, high end rods, middle of the road rods, and Star rods. I used to think higher price meant better quality. I’ve found that higher price usually just means you’re paying for the name only.

I am sure that’s not always the case but it has been my experience w a lot of rods. With that said, anytime I buy a new rod, it’s a Star rod. Hands down. Great quality, affordable price, plenty of options, and one hell of a warranty program.

Star Aerial rods have a reputation for giving great value and being rugged. I got the 12-20 lb. spinning model for light-medium bottom fishing. At first the blank looked too stout and I feared it would be stiff but once I started to fish with it, the action proved to be medium and sensitive enough to feel light taps.

This is an expensive fishing rod, but I had no buyers remorse. This rod paired with a Shimano Saragosa 8000 with 65 pound braid is the perfect line for fishing for grouper and snapper. It’s lightweight and strong and has the perfect amount of bend and backbone.

This combination has brought in many 10 to 15 pound grouper and red snapper. I’ve used it on amberjack as well, but I will need something stronger and 60 pound fluorocarbon leader.

My little one is capable of using a standard rod and reel, however, the Catch-A-Monster eliminated the difficulties we usually encounter. The line did not tangle on him and he managed to cast and reel without any direction as it was very intuitive for him.

I bought this catch a monster fishing rod for my grandson. Although it’s still too cold here in New York to take him fishing. He casts in the house and in the yard. He’s gotten really good at it and the rod and reel handle perfectly.
